You reblogged a post about the practical female armors mod for skyrim and now i am being sucked back into the pit of skyrim modding. any mod suggestions? its been a solid couple years since i played and there's a LOT to choose from
Oh man I haven't had a chance to play since my computer broke lemme see what my last modlist was.
(One moment while I force my broken computer to work)
So fair warning, I like survival aspects. I like it when games require me to eat/sleep/do things to live, because then the 15 cheese wheels in my inventory actually mean something besides instant health. I also really like companionship and roleplaying elements, so most of my playthroughs are built around that.
Dependencies not included:
Campfire: Camping mechanics. Supports a party of 4, if I remember correctly. Also lets you craft a few things, but I'm more interested in stargazing with my buddies.
Vitality Mode: Current iteration of "better than Survival Mode" mechanics. Eat/drink/sleep/etc. Does it very nicely with a corner icon that gets more red the worse off you are, rather than whatever SM had going on. Also lets you configure modded food items for it just by eating them!
Pronouns: Pick what pronouns you go by regardless of default body. Will attempt to exclude gendered language if possible (like, it's unavoidable with Brynjolf calling you lad/lass, but you can pick which one it falls back to) if you pick they/them. You can set percentages of different pronoun sets or even have it change randomly on a timer.
Quality World Map: PUTS. THE ROADS. ON. THE MAP. If you're doing no fast travel, this is VITAL. Base map is terrible, next question.
Delphine's Map Reveals Dragon Mounds: Because it should.
Delay the Foresworn Conspiracy Quest: Ever get sick of being roped into that quest immediately? (Makes it so that guy doesn't hand you the note unless you talk to him directly. Main Street Stabbing™ is still there)
Dragonborn Delayed: Ever get sick of being roped into THAT quest immediately? (Especially given the suggested level of Solstheim...you can pick when it happens: after returning the horn, Delphine, Alduin's Wall, meeting Paarthurnax, getting the Elder Scroll, kicking Alduin's tail at the top of the mountain, or killing Alduin)
Extended Encounters: More encounters in the wild! Mercs, adventurers, vampire attacks, etc.
Vittoria's Alternate Wedding: She can get married without you killing her! She's not in engagement hell!!! Only triggers if you destroy the Dark Brotherhood.
Immersive Realistic Party Clothing Overhaul: Wear any "rich" clothes to the party instead of what Delphine gives you. I usually use this with mods that add more fancy clothes.
More To Say: Everyone talks more about a wider variety of things. Lets you tell Meeko he's a good boy and give him a treat. Makes a few new lines with splicing, but I haven't noticed any hard cuts.
Wonders of Weather: Splashy rain and rainbows, occasional shooting stars, scheduled meteor showers
Darker Nights: What it says on the tin. I like using torches and fires, and regular nighttime is unrealistically bright for me.
Whiterun Watchtower Doesn't Start Broken: Because why should it?
Cooking Inns and Taverns: Because I need more cooking pots and ESPECIALLY Hearthfire ovens to find.
C.O.I.N.: Adds immersion by changing coins based on where you are. Ancient Nordic coins are going to be worth less than the standard Septim, while Thalmor gold is worth more. There are Dwemer coins.
More Thalmor Dossiers: Makes more lore books on characters to pick up when you're in the embassy. Also has patches for some followers. Very fun.
Bandolier: More carry weight and it looks cool.
Guard Dialogue Overhaul: Gives guards more to say, and changes their opinions of you as you complete quests.
Bandit Lines Expansion: Bandits talk more, 500+ new lines. Spliced, but it sounded smooth to me.
Alternate Start: If you're sick of the standard Helgen entry, THIS. Also the New Beginnings add-on gives even more options.
No Fast Travel: Honestly this is just a me thing, because I use Vitality Mode and want realism. Only go for this if you're like me and it won't frustrate you.
Followers (aka, my party pre-BG3)
Gore by @goredev: A young Imperial mercenary from Cyrodiil, was ambushed by Thalmor because of some traitorous members of his band. Absolute sweetheart, riveting story, fantastic found family vibes all around. 10/10 would kill for him. Updates often, so check the mod page every now and then after install.
Inigo: An indigo Khajiit who put himself in prison because he thinks he killed you. Amazing banter, very cheeky, comes with his own whistle-signal mechanics. You can buy him a horse if you have the right patch! (He interacts with Lucien right out the gate and has a banter patch with Auri)
Lucien Flavius: An Imperial scholar from Cyrodiil with a myriad of unique mechanics, letting you teach him your own skills in order to customize his battle style. He's in Skyrim looking for a (custom made, well-implemented) Dwemer dungeon. The lad has a MILLION compatibility patches that let him comment on all sorts of mods. (Interacts with Auri right out the gate)
Auri by @sotgofficial: A Bosmer from Valenwood who's having a lot of culture shock in Skyrim (where she's from, canonically, her people are cannibals and don't harm plants—she HATES Faendal with a seething passion). A fantastic character (and archer), a heartwrenching story, openly poly and likes to tease. Will be a little annoyed/depressed until you do her personal quest, so I recommend chipping away at that as you travel. I usually use her with the Refined Auri replacer.
Taliesin by @dynamite124, voiced by @nevermorepjm: My personal favorite, an Altmer and former Thalmor agent you help after he's been mortally wounded. Lots of sassy and witty dialogue, bursting with personality, changes his opinion of you over the course of the main quest. Please I'm begging you watch his trailer.
Khash by @rabbittwinrithings: Darling little Argonian teenager you can take along with you. Doesn't get sarcasm, speaks her mind often, can be coaxed into talking about her past—that's not a typical Argonian name, is it? Resident gremlin alongside Auri.
Back to normal stuff, visuals
Tempered Skins for Males/Females: Gives a decent look without airbrushing everyone because I am SO sick of airbrushing everyone... There are dicks in the setup screen (when you set whether you want them or not), beware.
Improved Eyes: Just a little tweak.
Brows: Another little tweak.
Subliminal Traps: Makes traps less obvious. It's masochistic, yes, but I like my immersion.
Awesome Potions Simplified: You look at these and tell me they aren't the coolest looking potion bottles you've ever seen.

What do you think about the powers of the demigods in canon? Especially those of the children of the Big Three?
I love Percy but I think Rick went a bit overboard with all the powers he gave him. Thalia and Jason are children of the king of the gods and have pretty pathetic powers, at least in my opinion.
In GENERAL, I'm pretty okay with Percy's powerset. I think healing him with water was maybe a BIT much, and it seems wildly unfair to have him be able to control ALL types of liquid. Like, sure I'll accept lakes and rivers and stuff because those would have nereids or some other kind of spirit who might have some sort of allegiance to Poseidon, but I feel like it should for sure be up to them what powers he gets and how much control he has. It's kind of hard to put a HARD limit on what his powers should be though because Poseidon has just a LAUNDRY list of titles. The talking to horses thing ABSOLUTELY has to stay, idc what other powers you take from him.
Nico and Hazel I feel are in a pretty good spot, in all honesty. I really like the fact that Nico's powers focus more on the dead whereas Hazel's focuses on the riches aspect of Hades/Pluto. I haven't read ToA or TSATS so I'm not SUPER familiar with all of Nico's powers beyond raising the dead, but his powers do seem to really overshadow Hazel's sometimes, which is a bit of a bummer. She does have her Mist skills, though, so maybe that balances it out.
Now. The REAL talking point. Thalia and Jason. While it does seem like their powers are absolutely wimpy compared to the other three Big Three kids we've seen, I don't NECESSARILY think that's a bad thing? Like, the powers demigods have are often described as gifts from their parents. Zeus... doesn't strike me as the type to be handing out gifts to his kids, and I think that would go DOUBLE for Jason. Like, not only is Jason not even really his kid anymore after he gave him to Juno, there is a bit of a... family tradition of the youngest son killing and overthrowing his dad. I highly doubt Jupiter is gonna pile his bouncing baby boy with the tools needed to kill and overthrow him. That being said, I think it would have been neat to see Jupiter give him powers that wouldn't necessarily be enough to overpower gods, such as making him extra strong or just SUPER sturdy. Jason survived getting struck by lightning? Oh, he's not immune to lightning, he's just built like that. Stuff that would give Jason the edge over most demigods so that Jupiter can brag about his son being better than everyone, but not enough to be a threat. Also, my BIGGEST gripe about Jason's powers is that he should be able to use them as easy as breathing. He doesn't even have to THINK about it. Like, number one he is JUPITER'S kid. The air is his father's domain it does what he says no questions asked. And number two he's been doing this since before he learned how to spell his name. He has as much training than the rest of the Seven PUT TOGETHER. Thalia is a slightly different case, because I honestly think she would actively avoid using any powers that relate her to her father, like, at all. She could be twice as tricked out as Percy and she'd still be like "Fuck you, dad, I'm not using any of this shit." I mean, her most iconic weapon is her shield which is a symbol of ATHENA. She wants as little to do with Zeus as possible, so there's no telling what her powers could be if she actual tried to use them. Probably not very much, if I'm being honest because Zeus is shit.
Anywho, sorry for the yap! Thanks for the question!

Doctor Who Series 14 / Season 1 Review
Tumblr media
Man, it feels good to be enjoying Doctor Who again. I haven't been keeping up with the show in years, but I caught up to see Tennant's return leading into Ncuti's run and I am so glad I did. This season is far from perfect, but it gets a lot of little things right and is consistently fun to watch, even if a lot of the details fall apart.
What I Liked
Ncuti Gatwa is simply phenomenal. He settles into the role so quickly and so easily, bringing such a fresh energy to the character. I love how distinct he feels, too -- when you're playing the fifteenth iteration of a character, it can be hard to find a new spin on things, but he's done it. He's also a fantastic actor, getting to show an incredibly wide range in just a few short episodes. I truly think he'll be remembered as one of the best Doctors.
Millie Gibson is also very good as Ruby, and her dynamic with the Doctor is a lot of fun. I appreciate having another Doctor/companion relationship that isn't romantic. They're just best friends, and it's very cute.
The show looks great. It's very clear that they've had a budget increase -- the costumes, effects, etc. are noticeably improved since RTD's first run.
Murray Gold's return as the composer is extremely welcome. His stuff isn't quite as bombastic as before (or maybe the episodes just have better sound mixing), but keeps a lot of the same leitmotifs. The result is a more subtle score that perfectly suits each scene.
Mel is so cool now. She was one of my least favorite classic companions, so seeing her worked into these storylines and feel more compelling is an unexpected delight.
What I Didn't Like
Ultimately, I think the season is just too short. Council of Geeks has an excellent YouTube video on this -- because there are only eight episodes, and a lot of them are going for bigger ideas and weirder premises, it feels like we don't really settle into a status quo.
The Doctor and Ruby's relationship also isn't as developed as much as I would like. If you pay close attention to the dialogue, there's actually a six month gap between "Space Babies" and "The Devil's Chord" -- we could have used another episode or two in that time period to really flesh out the beginnings of their friendship better. Instead the show jumps straight to them being best friends, without really showing us why that is.
I don't think the mystery box format of this season really worked. The mysteries were built up to such an extent that no answer could really be satisfying, and the finale really almost entirely on the big reveals that ultimately didn't amount to much. Ruby in particular feels like an underbaked companion, and I hope she gets more time to get properly developed.
Individual Episode Thoughts
Space Babies — This is easily the weakest episode of the season. It's not bad by any means, but it does remind me of some of the sillier episodes of RTD's first run. It felt like we were speedrunning the companion introduction, when things could have been slowed down and spread across a few episodes to feel more natural. The baby VFX also do not work and fall very firmly into uncanny valley territory.
The Devil's Chord — This one makes very little sense, but is entirely saved by Jinkx Monsoon being so iconic as Maestro. If you just go along for the ride, it's a ton of fun.
Boom — This episode is proof that Steven Moffat truly is at his best when he's writing self-contained stories under someone else's guidance. I don't think it's as iconic as Moffat's previous stories, and I felt like Ncuti was getting a lot of dialogue that better suited Matt Smith, but the entire concept was interesting and the execution was solid. Also, Ncuti acted his ass off without even being able to move.
73 Yards — Honestly, I'm mixed on this one. The setup is fantastic and eerie, and I enjoy the exploration of Ruby's character, solo from the Doctor. I like her experiencing this inexplicable thing, and deciding to find purpose in it to help others. But the story does fall apart for me at the end when it doesn't explain anything. I don't need every single thing handed to me, I understand the value of leaving things to the imagination, but the fact that the episode's last impression is "wait what?" does leave a bit of a sour taste. That being said, I do respect how weird and different this episode is, and how much discussion it prompted afterward.
Dot and Bubble — The trailers looked like a Black Mirror ripoff, and I was prepared for a shallow "social media bad" episode. Instead, we got something far more nuanced about the dangers of trapping yourself in a bubble of like-minded people and refusing to ever look beyond it. And the ending reveal that it's a society of white supremacists is so, so well-handled, because all the clues were there for you. If you're like me and didn't piece it together until the very end, it really challenges you to ask yourself why you didn't notice sooner. Also, another episode where Ncuti acts his ass off. My personal favorite episode of the season.
Rogue — Another with mixed feelings. Rogue himself is tons of fun, and I enjoy his dynamic with the Doctor, even if parts of it are pretty rushed. I really hope he comes back. The episode plot itself is serviceable but nothing special. My main complaint is the severe lack of Ruby. Her relationship with the Doctor doesn't feel sufficiently established, so the emotional beats don't really land.
The Legend of Ruby Sunday — This was an underwhelming finale, unfortunately. The first part barely even qualifies as an episode. It launches right into starting to answer the season's mysteries, but does so in an uncompelling and heavy-handed way. The Sutekh reveal is pretty epic in isolation, but...
Empire of Death — The Sutekh reveal doesn't really lead to anything satisfying. He doesn't have the presence of Toymaker or Maestro, he's just a CGI dog monster. This second part finally answers some questions, some of which are vaguely interesting, but it's happening in a plot so dull and so dry that I just can't bring myself to care. The episode is also just confusing? The plot points don't seem to flow naturally together, like multiple stories were smashed together with little rhyme or reason. The resolution is some of the most nonsensical nonsense that Doctor Who has ever come up with. Then we get to the reveal of Ruby's mother, which is so forced and it becomes clear in retrospect that things were added to seem more mysterious than they really were. And capping it all off is the Doctor's farewell to Ruby, which falls flat because, as I've said, their relationship is rather undercooked. It really does end the season on a downer, which is a shame because so many of the preceding episodes were pretty good.

I've decided that I would like to understand what my mutuals see in the old man music cinematic universe. I have loved and supported their derangement from afar in my life and would like to dip my toes in, so to speak. so I come to you humble now and ask: where can I get information about the beatles that will make me think about old British boy band members exploring eachothers bodies? if it helps, I dont mind their more well known music, but I've never really dug into it properly.
Oh man. You've no idea how tough this is to answer lol. My derangement regarding the Beatles has been built up over 6 years now and I hardly remember how it even began.
I suppose that yes, if you're new, you should begin with listening to all their music because it's genuinely very good stuff. Their filmography is also good. If you haven't seen any of their films yet, it's a great place to start because the Beatles' looks, personalities, and sense of humour are just as important to understanding their appeal as their music is (in order: A Hard Day's Night (1964), Help! (1965), Magical Mystery Tour (1967), Yellow Submarine (1968), and Let It Be (1970) - most of these should be free to watch on Dailymotion).
If you're very serious about the Beatles and into the history on an actual academic level, this is a pretty good list of free resources to browse through.
My personal introduction into becoming an actual gay Beatles truther was a series of fan-made documentaries on YouTube called Understanding Lennon-McCartney. It's been a very long time since I've seen them, but I remember them blowing my mind and making me believe in the concept of soulmates. As fun as it is to make jokes about the Beatles exploring each other's bodies, there's something genuinely profound and beautiful about Lennon and McCartney's relationship that shouldn't be overlooked. Chris Evans said it best:
Tumblr media
The Understanding Lennon-McCartney documentaries series is also just the most comprehensive overview of McLennon that I know of, even if it's semi-outdated now. I watched them in 2019 and even in just the last 5 years, a lot of new McLennon info has come out. We are truly living in the golden age of Beatles RPF.
One of the biggest recent developments was Peter Jackson's 2021 Get Back series. They're basically a revamped version of Let It Be (1970) and also required viewing at some point. I know a lot of Beatles fans who were introduced to the band via Get Back so I suppose it's not a bad place to start if you're so inclined, though since they chronicle some of the last days of the band, I think they can be best appreciated if you're already at least somewhat familiar with the boys.
After watching all of that, I think you'll have a pretty decent foundation of what people on Tumblr are talking about. Then oddly enough, I'd consider Tumblr the best resource for info. There's more in-depth Beatles talk on here than any other website as far as I know and, in my experience, I learned a lot just by freely exploring various tags and blogs.
There's also the Beatles biopic cinematic universe which is worth dipping your toes into if you like RPF and want an entertaining way to learn the gist of the band's history. There's a lot of low budget biopics out there about those boys. Even I haven't seen them all yet so I wouldn't say watching them is an absolute must, though there's three iconic "gay john lennon biopics" that are entertaining bc of how genuinely gay they are: The Hours and Times 1991 (about John's relationship to Brian Epstein), Backbeat 1994 (about John's relationship to Stuart Sutcliffe), and Two of Us 2000 (about John's relationship to Paul McCartney; the most iconic and revered of all Beatles biopics).
I don't really know what other reccs to give. If anybody wants to chime in with other suggestions, go forth! There's just so much Beatles lore and it's easy to become overwhelmed by it all so definitely take your time lol. And if you ever have any specific questions about the Beatles, I'd be very happy to answer them!
Happy RPFing!

6, 12, 14, and 21 for the Star Wars Violence Ask Game!
Thank you wifey! 💙💚 I'm gonna enjoy these
6. Opinion on canon and/or fanon use of the secret child trope? Discuss
I don't mind it. The secret child can be a good trope if the context is right for it. I mean Star Wars is centered on secret child trope pretty much. Where I'm not so into it is the Korkie headcanon that he is Obi Wan and Satine's son. It's a bit too crackhead for me and also it's not my ship so I'm biased against it.
12. Name a common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing.
Anything about Rey tbh. I may not be a big sequels person but anytime the fandom tries reduce her to an overpowered female Luke and say she's unoriginal I roll my eyes.
Like they are nothing alike. Luke got to live comfortably taken care of by his aunt and uncle. He never had to scavage scraps just to be able to eat. And before anyone comes for me, I'm NOT ripping on Luke. He had what anyone should have.
What I'm saying is Rey didn't get to have guardians or a comfortable house or regularly even be able eat. She was abandoned and did what she had to to survive. As for the overpowered thing like she's able to fly ships or fight back, like come on. I repeat, she. was. a. scavanger. She got to know ship parts and as for fighting, she's had to fight dickheads like Teedo and probably worse to keep food, homes, etc. After rewatching TFA, i notice she learns from OBSERVATION. She mimics what others do around. This is a survival skill she had her whole life.
Of course Luke is going to take a little more time to learn things. He was never put in that situation where it was do or die (as any child shouldn't). Rey was and however fast she was at learning a skill is a result of basic survival instincts.
She and Luke ENTIRELY different characters and to say she's a female version of him cuz she's from a desert????? Reductive and a big lack in media literacy tbh.
14. What's the most egregious example of fridging in canon?
God which one? 😅 Fridging is probably one of Star Wars biggest crimes. Leia is the first that comes to mind because she died to redeem her piece of shit son that she did not deserve.
But then again, Anakin's turn to the dark side is also due to fridging with his mother and his wife. Especially with Padme since there's an old version where she actually gets to live a little bit longer with the Rebellion and tried to kill Anakin.
I may not be a big Satine person, but that's fridging too to give Obi Wan angst and more Maul animosity.
I'm still going to say Leia in the sequels though as the most egregious. Because it was so out of nowhere (yes I'm aware that Carrie's death was probably the reason but I don't care. There are better ways to kill off/write out a character than fridging). Her death served no purpose other than Kyle Ron no accountability. Like what in "Jesus died for our sins" is this bullshit? Why must Star Wars' most iconic woman have to go out for a man that did nothing but hurt and betray her? It's insulting tbh.
Edit: Luminara's death was fucking awful too. Like ain't no reason to have it be so horrific. Sigh... can Star Wars like not hate women for once.
21. Best canon example of a healthy relationship in Star Wars
Romantically that is a tough one. Honestly I'm coming up short with this one. Can't say Han and Leia cuz we only see their rocky start and end and nothing in between.
Maybe Kanan and Hera but their relationship kinda got ruined for me when suddenly at the end, he wasnt aware if Hera felt the same about him??? I just thought they were basically married and I'm supposed to be believe they haven't even had that conversation by THAT point in time??? Plus the ghost baby thing creeped me the fuck out. Can Star Wars please stop with the out of nowhere pregnancies please?
So yeah canon romances, nothing comes to mind. In fact Star Wars is kind of built on toxic romance.
The crackhead in me wants to say Owen and Beru 🤣
Ooo! Wait I found my answer! Cal and Merrin from the Jedi games! They are perfect 🥺 Idk what the next game will have in store for them but so far, the way they empower and comfort each other. They accept and love each other's differences. And just adorable all around. Sweet ginger boy with spicy witch lady 👌

The Marvels (2023)
Tumblr media
Not usually reviewing films but here we are. A friend of mine invited me to the cinema to see The Marvels. And so we did, two days ago.
Neither of us expected much. I haven't seen Ms. Marvel. I thought Captain Marvel was 'meh' and a bit bland. Not offensive in any way (if you discount the blatant milatary propaganda) but ultimately Just A Marvel ProductTM. And not even a fun one. At least not fun for me.
And no offence to Teyonah Parris, but her character was definitely the least interesting thing about WandaVision. That's not saying much, seeing as that miniseries was great and one of the best things Marvel did since Infinity War... But it just goes to say that this didn't seem that promising.
The trailer for it looked quite cool though.
My friend Marek, who was bitching to me about how bad Captain Marvel is for years now, invited me to see The Marvels with him in the cinema. Mostly as a joke. Although he did enjoy Ms. Marvel. But still, neither of us expected much.
To our surprise - The Marvels is really good and we both enjoyed ourselves a lot.
It's really, really good.
While I don't think it can stand shoulder to shoulder with stuff like The Suicide Squad, Across the Spider-verse or GotG Vol. 3, I still feel comfortable calling it one of the best superhero movies of this decade so far. It's easily the 2nd best MCU movie since Spider-man: Far From Home, imo. (admittedly, I haven't seen all of them, so take this hot take with a grain of salt... I just really enjoyed The Marvels)
So now I'm gonna do a wee bit of gushing about some of the reasons why it's so good. (spoilers bellow)
Tumblr media
Carol, Kamala, and Monica are just really fun to watch? Their interaction is amazing.
Kamala can be a bit cringey but in an authentically teenage way and I really enjoyed that! Her being a huge fan of Captain Marvel never stopped feeling real. Yeah, of course she's into RPF.
Consequences! I love when things in stories have consequences. And this is all built around consequences to the stuff Captain Marvel did. She did them with good intentions... But that didn't necessarily matter. And I love that. It adds a bit of complexity and nuance that's less and less common in superhero movies these days.
Which ties into... Carol not being perfect. She's amazing and powerful but she can't save everyone.
Carol is also... really fun? With a slight nudge she just became a really well-written, interesting protagonist? I love this version of Captain Marvel and I want more!!! Brie Larson finally gets to show off a bit as an actress!
She just really gave me Xena vibes, in the best possible way.
While the villain isn't an all-time great, the actress went for dignity and it payed off. She feels iconic and you understand where she's coming from.
Monica's sacrifice was quite powerful and kinda hit me.
The "training sequence" where Carol, Monica, and Kamala are practicing the switching is perfect. I love it. No notes.
I love that while it's only an indirect continuation of Captain Marvel, it takes the best bits from that film and builds on them. For me, Goose is the best bit of that film - a cat, but make it eldritch and alien, as well as bigger on the inside? Nice, love it. So what do we do with that idea the second time around? MORE CATS!!! I got a bit excited when I saw the kittens in the trailer and they did not disappoint. (Can the next movie be set on their planet? Please?)
But it's not just "there are kittens now" though. THE KITTENS ARE INTEGRAL TO THE PLOT. It's not just there to be there, but it's an important plot point. And it's so fun!
Nick Fury is also fun.
But it's not just taking what worked and expanding on it. This movie got really creative!
For example - the worlds! Especially the Bollywood planet. Great stuff.
Tumblr media
That's just some of the reasons to like this film. I'm probably gonna watch it again when it's on Disney+
If you haven't seen it yet, go do that it if it's still playing in a cinema near you. It's definitely worth a watch if you are in the mood for a fun, well-made superhero film.
I'm really looking forward to what Nia DaCosta does next. This film really didn't deserve to underperform and I hope she gets another stab at a big blockbuster like this in the future.

Rate the final dungeons of megaten games you've played on stream so far. iirc you've played SMTIV, IV:A, Raidou 1, DDS1 and SMT1. If I missed any I apologize, those were all I could remember off of the top of my head.
Oh wait, there's was V's final dungeon but that game's final dungeon is mega ultra titanogigahuge ASS!
This is a topic that I haven't given a ton of thought, really. Lemme see:
SMTIV: Lucifer's Palace and Purgatorium are both built around replacement-level teleport maze design, but visually and aurally they're the highlights of the game. I would rate these somewhere between "not bad" and "pretty good".
SMTIVA: Conceptually, there's a lot you could do with the idea of this chasmically empty and expansive space, but I don't think it's in service of anything interesting here. Feels more like an overcorrection to the very slight dungeon design in IV. Bad.
SMTV: I mentioned this on stream, but The Temple of Eternity is like, a third or fourth dungeon you would go through in a modern Tales game. Too obviously perfunctory. The rows of Adramalech(s) are pretty funny.
Raidou 1: Visually arresting but introduces too much fodder for embarrassing timeline shit to the fray. Mixed.
DDS1: Generally a good balance of sprawl and reasonable design. Fun boss gauntlet. The outer facade is really gorgeous. Thanks, KUSANAGI web!
SMT1: Hard to judge. The iconic sprawling final dungeon, and the schema for half the others on this list. The most striking thing about the Great Cathedral is the way it acts as the catalyst for the flooding of the rest of the map. It's an oasis but imbued with bitter finality, which is fascinating. And irreplicable, since modern game design would forbid the world-state from being irreversibly wiped out like that. So: good.
TMS: I don't remember anything about this dungeon except that we died to the final boss at the very end of the fight, and having to go through the entire thing again on stream made me want to destroy myself.
Persona: I also remember very little about this one, but the dungeons in P1 are all fairly breezy, even in the original release. Seems like they saved all the grueling design for the SQQ. I guess this one is just "okay".
Dungeons: they go crazy, but sometimes, less so.

Asked by @sleepyendymion
Of course!!
OP you have no idea what you've done by enabling me to ramble I'm stimming so much, literally such an honor I'm so flattered omg
To start off with the basics, Hound is currently a Sergent of Task Force 141, after being transferred numerous times through various forces and even KorTac and SpecGru ops. At a certain point, they were a combat medic and a captain as well. I'm not gonna get too deep into their whole journey because spoilers for a future work of mine, but I can say that their backstory is not a happy one, and falls into the sort of "dark past" trope.
In terms of looks, nobody's seen their full face thanks to how they constantly wear a visor, a balaclava, a trapper hat, and their iconic, painted, muzzle-like mask. Their scarf also doubles as a hood and mask sometimes. Most find them intimidating at first sight, especially after reading their (heavily censored) file, seeing how damn big they are, and hearing all the rumors that float around.
It doesn't help either when they can initially come off as blunt, distant, and on the verge of being a extremely well-trained or horribly rabid dog. Nor the fact that they have deep-rooted issues pertaining to their identity. Though, over time, they'll grow to be warmer, even humorous and friendly at times.
Extra:
Hound goes by they/he/any pronouns. They haven't labeled themselves, don't really care about what people perceive them as or the gender of their partner, and they are perfectly comfortable having multiple partners.
I have no idea what their sex is but they've had plenty :] (probably amab?)
He is a big boy at 6'8-9" (204-205cm) and built to look either jacked when he flexes or a wall of soft, relaxed muscle that borderlines chub.
They're multilingual, knowing a handful of languages and having a hint of an accent at times.
He's probably around the same age as Ghost or Soap (mid-late 20s to early 30s?).
Neurodivergent as hell, we're talkin' social anxiety, ADHD, maybe even autism, who knows because this dumbass refuses to see a proper therapist.
He's so emotionally dense, like he's the epitome of 'thembo/himbo'. Sometimes he'll seem wise only to later make you wonder how are they even coping with themselves.
Their first callsign was actually Mutt, Hound was only a more "recent" development for them, post joining the 141.
Small doodle for now since I'm saving the big stuff for later on<3
Tumblr media
That's it for now! Again, I don't wanna dip into spoiler territory because I am considering making a series for them (feel free to ask about that teehee-). Also, if any of you are interested in x reader fics with him, send as many as you like!

Let's (re)Read The Dragon Reborn! Chapter 26: Behind a Lock
Tumblr media
I'm done doing anything but warning people who haven't read the whole Wheel of Time series not to keep reading.
This chapter has the Black Ajah icon because the gals are investigating their dirty deeds.
There were many more empty rooms than occupied in the Accepted’s galleries.
Another reminder of the Tower's slow decay. It's rather funny that it is a parallel of the land at large in its own way, since it's the diametric opposite of Rand.
“She was no Gray Man. She was tall and striking, with black eyes and black hair. You’d notice her in a crowd of a thousand. I have never seen her before, but I think she is Aes Sedai. She must be.”
Lanfear probably made her various weaves a little stronger than she intended to have Egwene this fixated on her still.
The library stood a little apart from the tall, thick shaft of the White Tower proper, its pale stone heavily streaked with blue, and it looked much like crashing waves frozen at their climax.
I wonder why the Ogier who built Tar Valon wanted to associate the library with blue waves. A warning of the forces that might someday wash what little knowledge the Tower preserved away if it failed in its mission?
Around the foundations of the library, lying flat to the ground in the shade of tall pecan trees, were other doors, both large and small.
At first I thought pecan trees being this far north was a little incongruous and wasteful of the Aes Sedai, but research tells me that they naturally grow almost as far north as Wisconsin, so I will allow it. I will note that they're an American plant though. Perhaps the Breaking was more thorough than any of us give it credit for, or perhaps at some point in the future they'll be moved across the sea... Either way, the Wheel's turns are broad indeed.
Elayne made a glowing sphere for herself at the same time, and the pair provided more light than two lanterns would have. “It feels so—wonderful, doesn’t it?” she murmured.
It's a miracle none of these girls went the route of the heroin addict.
She felt a lightning bolt form, or the potential for one, and nearly stumbled. She had never before channeled two flows at once; it did not seem difficult at all.
I'm legit surprised it didn't come up in damane training. Or perhaps the sul'dam can't handle that kind of thing? Something to keep an eye on.
I could open the lock myself, if I could see how the inside of it works. We will open it some way.
Elayne's the closest thing this trio has to a superego (sadly for third age humankind, prolonged exposure to chora trees causes the genes for emotional regulation to mutate so absolutely no one in the 1,000+ character cast is capable of being a straight example of a superego because those genes haven't mutated back yet), so naturally her approach to solving the puzzle is to solve it on its own terms: if she understood the lock, she could unlock it.
Letting the rest of the tirade fade from her awareness, Egwene touched the chain. She had learned more things than how to make lightning bolts since leaving Tar Valon. One was an affinity for metal.
Egwene, as eventual leader, is the team ego, so she thinks outside the box a little more but still accepts the challenge as presented: it is both lock and chain that keep her out so the clever solution is to attack the chain that most people would ignore.
Thrusting the end of the prybar through the chain, Nynaeve braced it, then heaved with all her strength. The chain snapped like thread, Nynaeve gasped and stumbled halfway across the hall in surprise, and the prybar clattered to the floor.
Nynaeve is the team id and that's all there is to say on the matter because I'm afraid she'll start hitting me if I add any more.
Elayne frowned at her as if considering, then hung her light on the wall, too. Watching, Egwene thought she saw what it was she had done.
And of course the thing that makes this trio so dangerous on net is that they're capable of bootstrapping off of each other to a degree that I don't think any current third age Aes Sedai group can emulate.
“Tear,” Nynaeve said in a flat voice. Kneeling amid the clutter from the bag she was searching, she retrieved a scrap of paper she had already thrown away.
A collection of clues so blatant you'd almost wonder how Siuan missed them if it wasn't obvious that these clues didn't exist about twenty minutes ago.
“The Amyrlin,” Nynaeve said bitterly, “keeps her own counsel, and what matter if we burn for it!”
Oh look, it's Team Light's complete refusal to engage in anything other than complete paranoia about each other coming to bite it in the ass again.
“Unless they do not care whether whoever found this saw the trap or not.” Uncertainty tinged Elayne’s voice. “Or perhaps they meant it to be so obvious that whoever found it would dismiss Tear immediately.”
Or Lanfear is so high on her own supply that she forgets other people aren't drooling idiots. Actually I'll be slightly charitable to her. Four months ago she spent a few days with Rand while he was being a drooling idiot so maybe she's using his barely-resisting-her-Compulsion self as a barometer for the general intelligence of the Age.
Egwene squeezed the ring hard. Dreaming was closely linked to Foretelling; the future, and events in other places, could appear in a Dreamer’s dreams. “Maybe we will know after tonight.”
Occasionally when responding to bad films, critics quip that the characters are only doing the strange things they choose to do because they've read the script and have no other choice. Jordan manages to wrap this around to the point where his characters are outright planning on consulting the script to decide what to do next and it's glorious.
Next time: Egwene checks the script!

Heyy!!!
I don’t know if you read the aot manga ending or seen the anime’s finale ending- but if you have. what’s your thoughts?🙌🏻
Hey lovey dovey! I have read the AOT ending (forever ago when it released?) but I haven't seen the finale because I no longer watch the show (which I'll explain lol). I'll try to put my thoughts below a cut to avoid spoilers.
I truthfully wasn't a fan of the ending. 🥶 When it originally came out and I read it, I absolutely hated it and I still honestly hate it to this day, so much so that I flat-out stopped watching the show because I knew that it was heading towards that end and I didn't want to be invested in something that ended so poorly. A lot of people stopped being fans of the AOT once that ending came out. I vividly remember texting a friend who loved AOT as much as I did like, "bro...wtf?????" We were so upset. We had just come off the tail-end of the horrendous ending that was GOT and felt like we got smacked in the face with yet another horrendous ending for AOT. I just think the ending did not do the story justice. It didn't do the themes of the story justice either, if anything, it went backwards on them. We went on this incredible journey with these characters for 10+ years only for them to kind of end up right back where they started. The ending made the entire story and the character's hardships and journeys feel like it was for nothing, which is never a great feeling for a story. I don't think that was always the original intention. I truthfully think Isayama forgot the story, and his characters, and as a result of that, he changed a lot in order to satisfy some people, foregoing whatever his original end may have been for an ending that he thought audiences would be more receptive of (he's also admitted to changing things because of stuff he's read online).
Isayama himself also admitted that he "lost" his characterization of Eren and imo, you see it in the text. He said Eren didn't make sense to him anymore. WE SEE THAT. Eren's motives made no sense. EREN made no sense. Nothing he did made any sense, and nothing in that entire finale made a lick of goddamn sense 😭. I think he lost his story and what we got in the end is a result of that.
I, and a ton of other people, were so disappointed. And I remain as such. It is a shame to me. Isayama built such a cool world with so many memorable, iconic characters, and the story fell off with a flat horn sound that wound up confusing and upsetting more people than it made them happy.
The only thing that made me happy in the end was that Levi survived. That was about it. My man lived, that's all I cared about 🤣.
I am so sorry for the rant. I hope that my analysis or thoughts won't change your feelings either if you enjoyed it! On the flip side of many of us who didn't like it, there are those who did. I'm happy for the people who liked it because I certainly wish I felt the same since AOT will always have a place in my heart.

open to: anyone
plot/connections: old e.xplicit videos and pictures of seree were leaked. seree confirms it's her in the leaked content before her pr team can think of how to handle the situation. connections could be a friend, a partner, someone on her pr team or an assistant or other employee (trainer, stylist, chef whatever). could be whoever's behind the leak or not.
character: seree is a classic toddler-to-trainwreck cautionary tale. she grew up on a reality tv show. seree became an iconic child star before shifting into modeling when she hit her wild child era. a nepo baby through and through who can only admit she's fucked up if it's for the bit. but she's working on it. the therapy's expensive so the fortune she's made really comes in handy now that she's in college trying to stay away from the limelight.
Tumblr media
don't check the comments is the oldest piece of redundant advice tossed her way as a makeshift coping skill for the hate and hostility that will inevitably follow a certain level of fame. but seree's not fully in touch with the human parts of her, so there's little online that she thinks can actually hurt her, regardless of what her therapist claims. "okay, you're clearly not fucking getting the vibes and it's bumming me out. this is funny. not tragic. i haven't had death threats this serious... or gross, since i started school and someone leaked the dorm i was staying in before i had to move. look, i've done nude shoots before. this is, like that. kinda. if anything, i'm not traumatized. i'm fucking mad that stuff got leaked and i didn't make money off it." not that she needs it. but seree clings to any farce she can confuse for control. "yet. legal's on it. it's fine, i'm built to handle this shit. why are you looking at me like that? it's creeping me out."

Trafalgar Law: Verses, Wishlist, Fave Ships, etc.
♡ Main (Canon): Corresponding with the events of the anime/manga, canon-compliant. Interactions set between Sabaody and Zou preferred (my grasp on Wano is pretty poor because I speed-read the entire manga in two months and I retained very little from most of it. To revisit at a later date.) Open to exploring pre-Sabaody timeline and I love canon-divergent AUs.
♡ Heartverse: "What If" canon-divergent AU built with @climatact, in which: Bellemere lived, Nami became a marine, Law had an extra year with Cora-san as a child and their travels to find a cure for Law brought them to the East where their paths crossed with Bellemere and her two daughters. A chance encounter on an island in the Grand Line years later upends the trajectory of both of their lives. Tagged: ♡ // verse: heartverse ; || Ships: LawNa ♡
Heartverse series of events: during the 2-year timeskip, Law crosses paths with Marine!Nami on an island in the Grand Line (the first time they’ve seen each other since he visited her island when he was 11.) A mutual attraction/curiosity upon their reunion leads to a one-night-turned-two stay in a fancy hotel, a jewelry store heist that results in Nami leaving her unfulfilling career behind to join his pirate crew, and an unexpected addition to their lives. Following Law’s appointment as a Shichibukai, the two head back to her home in the East until baby Cora-chan makes her appearance. She’s later left in the care of Nojiko and Bellemere while the two travel to Punk Hazard. After the run-in with the Straw Hats, Nami still ends up joining as their navigator and the two, although married, sail on in pursuit of their individual goals.
♡ Tangerine Trysts: A spin-off of a spin-off; another take on Heartverse in which Law and Nami's initial background (meeting as kids, Bellemere living, Nami becoming a marine) stays the same but Law and Nami run into each other on Sabaody, again at Marineford, and carry on an relationship of sorts while she remains a marine. || Ships: LawNa ♡
♡ Currently Untitled Godverse: AU built with @climatact based on a shared appreciation for the tale of Hades & Persephone, ft. Law as the god of the Underworld and Nami as a mortal living in some of the hardest times the mortal realm has ever seen. Tagged: ♡ // godverse tbt ; || Ships: LawNa ♡
♡ Godverse Spin-off: the “closer to the actual tale of Hades and Persephone but still not quite” take. In which a god takes a liking to the pretty mortal woman he met when business brought him to the mortal realm. || Ships: LawNa
Tumblr media
Working On (or would like to explore): a BSD verse, maaaaybe a Demon Slayer verse!
Haven't worked out the details yet but I'd love to explore a "Cora-san lived" AU where Law did not hand over Rosinante's message to THE ONE marine he should not have. (FU Vergo.)
Have also been toying with something where Law, possibly in a modern verse or maybe some fantasy/non-OP setting, actually dabbles in trading hearts for a business; i.e. he'll grant a wish but the price is your heart.
Tumblr media
Law Wishlist / Ship Stuff:
Opportunities for him to treat/tend to people - scenarios where even if it's not someone he particularly likes, they need advice or medical attention and he's the only one around to provide it.
Middle of the night interactions since Law's sleeping patterns are abysmal. One or both muses waking up from a nightmare? Lots on their mind? Enjoying the quiet?
As much as I love angst and drama and traumatized characters, Law could use some happy times, so I'm always up for exploring what-ifs where any of his lost loved ones survived.
Ships: My favorite Law ship is Law x Nami. I'm always down to write it, but will not force it on any Namis of course. Other ships I'm intrigued by include Law x Zoro, Law x Robin, and Law x Luffy (I generally see Luffy as an aro/ace icon BUT this is literally the only ship I see potential for for him). However, just because something isn't listed here doesn't mean I won't entertain it. I'm basically shipping trash, although I tend not to to ship him with any of his crewmates and will not ship him with Mingo or Cora-san.
Tumblr media
Mandatory disclaimer that I love, love, love AUs - if you'd ever be interested in working on one together, whether it's based on a canon-divergent 'what if?' or an entirely new world/story, SHOUT AT ME ABOUT IT. I also love finding ways to interact in each other's verses, so if you have a verses page I'll definitely check it out -- and if you're interested at all in hopping into one of mine, just let me know!
Have an idea for your verse you want to play out? Tell me about it!

Digital Monster Ver. WonderSwan - Final Thoughts
This was the shortest game yet! Only took me 4-5ish hours to beat. Of course, it's another glorified v-pet with barely any story, so I'm not saying that's impressive or anything lol. It kinda cracks me up that this game is in black and white. Like, I know that was common for handheld games of this era, but it makes me picture like a 1960s version of Digimon on an old timey TV. Ye olde Digimon.
This was easy but completely luck based, so not super engaging or rewarding. I did my usual emulator cheating (saving before battles and loading my save state if I lost). Actually though this game has a built in speed-up feature that would make it pretty playable on the original system. Very nice quality of life stuff that I haven't seen in other games yet.
I feel like expressing my thoughts in a pro/con list this time around.
Pros:
Cute UI. Not as fun as the Sega Saturn game, but sleek with nice animations. The battle/training animations were especially cute. Navigating from digimon-to-digimon while taking care of them was intuitive and felt good.
Not a ton of need for grinding. Training didn't seem to do much and you don't need a lot of money because most items are free (food and medicine). Plus, if you set the clock speed super low then your digimon stay happy for a very long time.
Younger digimon aren't useless, you can battle with them and win (this is kind of a pro and a con).
So many quality-of-life features! From the main menu you can jump ahead in time, slow down and speed up the clock, and you can freeze a digimon if you need a break taking care of them or you need another digimon to catch up to them. That would have SO come in handy in some of the other games I've played.
Since I used an emulator I couldn't take advantage of it, but the linking abilities with other Wonderswan and with the v-pet digivice seem really cool and would add a lot to this game. I don't need to spend an arm and a leg to experience that, so I'll just appreciate it from afar.
Cons:
Jumping into the game was very confusing. Instead of starting you off with a digiegg you're just supposed to know that you have to go to the shop and buy one. Then, I couldn't figure out how to actually check on my digimon. "Lab" wasn't immediately obvious to me and I thought "Mail" would be more like the email feature in the Sega Saturn game. Using a mail icon for when your digimon needs you doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
Battles and training in this game are bizarre. Training doesn't appear to increase stats (digimon just have default stats) and battles might as well be totally random. A champion level can be defeated by a baby digimon in this game. I ended up figuring out that just throwing as many digimon into the arena as possible seemed to do the trick.
You can't do anything during battles. You literally just watch them fight. Guessing that was how they worked for the v-pet, but if you're going to make it a video game then maybe give me a button to press or something lol.
Items were confusing. It wasn't clear to me what some of them did and some of them I couldn't even figure out how I was supposed to use them. (If I can't use it in a battle then when can I?)
I wish this game kept a log of which digimon you've raised, otherwise there's not a whole lot of incentive to tame them all.
Another cute little Wonderswan game. Not a favorite or anything, but it felt good to tick another game off my list so quickly. I give it like a 5 out of 10.

Oc s?
HI I present to thee:
Tumblr media
Pigeon!
Pigeon used to be my icon for the longest time so I consider her like The Oc of this blog (even though I haven't posted about xyr in like a year but sh. shh.) I choose the color scheme (light green and some ochre-ish colors) to match her! She's an Animal Jam OC who takes the role of the player during the adventures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's just this super chipper and excitable pal who loves exploring and running at phantoms with reckless abandon. They live in Sarepia Forest and like collecting sunflowers and mushrooms and stuff. All the nooks and crannies they can find, they try to squeeze into. They have random knickknacks and rewards from adventuring scattered around their den. She cares about defeating the phantoms but exploration captures her attention a lot more. And she frequently gets distracted as a result. but somehow it works out. much to the confusion of the Alphas. And by "Alphas" I mean Greely. Because she just manages to find things inexplicably. Essentially I wanted her to fill the role of the player. Because when the player is playing the game, they can see the onscreen clues of where to find things. Like in an adventure if you need to find a key there's a little pop-up that shows which direction you need to go.
Tumblr media
(^ like this) as well as other things like a map, the mission info at the top of the screen, etc.
Tumblr media
And the alphas are always remarking on the player's ability to find these things, and how its surprising and a bit odd.
I thought that would be interesting to incorporate as an ability that the character has. because in universe, the other characters cant see these UI elements so it just looks like Pigeon is bee-lining it into the forest and then coming back with a cork and they're like. what. Pigeon just has this weird "sense" that pulls them forwards and brings them to certain people or objects that they can't explain. Its just innate. They walk into the woods and feel compelled to run into the trees and Oh! there's a key here! Huh, weird. And everyone else is just like "?????" because other than this pull towards things Pigeon doesn't have any other kind of like magical ability or a strong connection to Mira and Zios. Its just this 1 inexplicable quirk like she has a compass in her head she can tune to find things. Or to know where phantoms are. Which is especially helpful considering she isn't the strongest fighter. Like she's with another jammer and she's like "oh no! phantoms!" and throws a boomseed in a random direction and the distant sound of a phantom sprouter exploding is heard. (since sometimes you can destroy sprouters that are juuuustt on the corner of the screen but they cant actually detect you yet.) and the person she's with just stares at her like she's grown 3 heads.
idk i think its fun lol. shes just like a random jammer but she has a walkthrough built into her head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
its silly and it gives the opportunity for her to have interesting interactions with the Alphas, who are the main characters you talk to throughout the adventures. Obviously she serves as a kind of foil to Greely just by virtue of being very excitable and cheery but there's also some other stuff to it to. Like Greely's thing is that he's always going off by himself and he's all contemplative and i like the idea that they can bond over the idea of feeling strange and having weird magic connections. another big part of her desire for exploration is her awe of nature. She loves just looking around at the huge trees Jamaa has and the pretty crystal caverns. She could spend hours just wandering aimlessly down there. And that's something she and Cosmo can kinda chat over. And I imagine Ghraham's unrelenting need to understand everything leads to him being very interested in xyr abilities. they're also both very eccentric and I think they'd vibe Ae and Peck also get along I feel. But I also like to think that since they're the closest in personality Pigeon kinda idolizes Peck and so she tries really hard to impress and gets really embarrassed around her and its like silly and cute. She still only sees them sparingly so it's more like coworkers than friends but shes at least acquainted with everyone except Tavie. And if Tavie ever appears in or is referenced in a land adventure I'm absolutely making them friends. the other two Quail (brown n purple) and Dove (white n grey) are her younger sister and older brother because obviously shes the middle child.
