what’s orv about? I’ve seen a bunch of people posting about it and it seems kinda interesting
ooooh boy. okay. hold on. sorry orv makes me lose my mind a little so this might get a bit lengthy. hope you don't mind me dumping all this
so first things first a disclaimer kind of it's a korean webnovel which is kind of like animanga in the fact that there's a lot of like nonsense and cliches that are weird when you first get into it but eventually you just get used to it. also. it's 551 chapters. which is a little long, but it's totally worth it in my opinion it's such a good story.
anyways the main character is a man named kim dokja and at first he's mostly just some guy. really the only two things that make him not average is 1) he's kind of an asshole and 2) he loves reading, more than most people do. he'd been reading the same webnovel which had been updated with one new chapter nearly every day for 13 years. that ends up being 3,149 chapters, and kdj was the only person in the world who had read all of them. everyone else who tried to start reading the novel gave up because of how long and complex it was. orv starts with the last chapter of the webnovel being published, and that very same day the events from that novel start happening in kdj's real life. from there he uses his knowledge of the novel to make his way through the scenarios as they happen to him in real life.
that's the sort of boring actual synopsis type stuff. a big part of what makes orv so interesting is probably the characters and their relationships. obviously you have kim dokja as your mc and the story is almost entirely told from his perspective. there's also yoo joonghyuk, who was the protagonist of the webnovel that kdj had been reading about and projecting on (read: basically kinning) since middle school that came to life with the rest of the novel. the interactions between those two are super funny. han sooyoung, the person who knew the most about kdj's webnovel other than kdj himself. those three, plus three kids basically adopted by kdj, one power couple, and kdj's coworker and friend make up the main group, or kim dokja's company. of course there's a bunch of other characters that are involved and they all get their stories told and have interesting growth and develop relationships that are super cool to see. it's a recurring theme in the novel that everyone has their own stories, and that even though you can never understand someone else's story completely, you should still try your best to do so.
anyways this is getting really long so i'm probably gonna stop myself there. i'm not sure how coherent this is sorry i really love orv. anyways thanks for listening i love talking about my interests even if i don't always make sense
