The thing about *that* line from Crosshair
I am frustratingly torn between accepting the crumbs of him finally actually verbally 15 episodes later *acknowledging* Tech's death??
Vs thinking he really ought have said Clone Force 99 died with the Republic.
The Empire broke them and they never got to be whole again. They struggled for 3 seasons. Tech died in the desperate gasp to put them back together.
#My finale feelings are: Frustrated#tbb#the bad batch#the bad batch spoilers#tbb spoilers#“we aren't that squad anymore” bitch you weren't even there#Filing this season into back half pacing disaster I think#Weird build to a weird Tantiss sequence for those three why were they even there#The whole “more clone prisoners than we thought!” to just needing one evac shuttle was wild#Glad they all lived but where the fuck is the hanging up the armor epilogue (for them all and not 10+ years on)#Where are all the beloved Pabu friends who oh btw didn't exist until we needed to care about them being in the line of fire#Is it weird that Phee & Omega never even were in a room together again beyond the transmission? That felt weird#And that's not getting into the Choices made around cx-2

My five cents on Tech’s fate in TBB
It’s been over three weeks since the show ended and I’ve been writing this in my head ever since, mostly to have it summed up in one post for posterity lol. I considered letting it go at this point but I know it’ll drive me crazy if I don’t get it out of my system so might as well.
So here we go, some of my rambly post-finale thoughts on Tech’s death (and a few other issues) under the cut!
Disclaimer: while this post is in critical spirit (because that’s how my brain works), I want to make clear that I have nothing but respect and gratitude towards everyone who’s worked on the show. My criticisms are of the final story as a whole as I interpret it (art is art, everything is subjective, you know the drill), but one never knows what goes into the process of making it behind the scenes, so I’m not holding anything against the creative team. I love this show dearly and am in awe of how good it is at its best, despite certain things I wish they did differently.
To begin, if I had to sum up the biggest problem that TBB writing suffers from, it would be lack of closure, and too many red herrings. Not just for Tech, but many things. Major plot threads as well as little character moments are cultivated or thrown in just to never culminate in anything or to be immediately discarded after serving the plot, some of them incredibly misleading. Some of the top examples:
- Crosshair’s chip. We never get an exploration of how the trauma of his chip activating and being left behind not only affected his motivation and choice to stay with the Empire, but his relationship with his brothers. While it was made fairly obvious, if subtly, that Crosshair became free of the chip’s influence after getting hit by the ion engine on Bracca, the narrative treated this change as if it didn’t matter at that point, while it obviously mattered a lot within the context of Crosshair’s character. Add to that all these little details with him clutching his head in s1 finale, Omega expressing her disappointment in him, and Tech’s comment on how “it is just his nature” (as if it matters!!! See what I mean about the narrative treating Cross’s chip as if it didn’t play the key part in his trajectory? They throw in this line, like we are supposed to take away that it’s simply Crosshair being Crosshair and not like, the results of brainwashing and abandonment), Wrecker blaming Crosshair for not going back to them, all while we as the audience have been shown and told repeatedly how these chips work (and so were the Batch), we ended up with an incredibly confusing situation with lots of mixed signals from the writers. And once Crosshair makes his choice to stay with the Empire in s1 finale, his chip and the confusion it brought to his relationship with his brothers is never brought up again, because the plot simply moves on.
- Cid’s betrayal. After her being a major character for two seasons with a continuous relationship build-up with Omega in particular, she is discarded as soon as her betrayal serves the plot, with all that character development getting thrown out of the window. You can be mad at Cid all you want, but to me it’s incredibly weird and wasteful to end two seasons worth of build up on that note without it having any closure for the characters, especially Omega whose whole theme is trusting people and bringing out the best in them. It’s fine if they decided to make Cid exactly what she appeared on the surface (untrustworthy and self-serving) after playing around with her potentially growing through her fondness of Omega, but then at the very least the betrayal should’ve had an impact on the characters, Omega most of all. Even just one casual line from Omega in s3 about how Cid’s betrayal impacted her emotionally, however minimally, would have solved that problem. And no, CX-2 mentioning how he extracted info on Phee from her off screen absolutely doesn’t count as closure, because I’m talking about emotional closure for the main pov characters as well as the audience. Cid had a presence for two seasons, then as soon as she executed her role as a traitor to further the plot, she was discarded like she was a random extra.
- Emerie’s relationship with Hemlock. We are led to believe that he basically raised her, instilling in her the idea that she had no chance without him and owed her purpose and “safety” to him. You can’t tell me that this didn’t deeply affect her struggle and eventual decision to break away from all that and choose to help the kids, basically betraying Hemlock. I get that the show only had so much screen time and Emerie is a supporting character in season 3 at best, but common, she has more tension with Dr. Scalder than Hemlock while the potential for this rich deep conflict between them is right there.
I can probably list more smaller examples but this is getting long and I don’t want to go on any more tangents, so, finally, the biggest example of lack of closure and tendency of TBB writing to display foreshadowing that leads nowhere:
Tech’s death.
First of all, I’ll die on the hill that it wasn’t denial or delusion that led to such a big portion of the audience to believe that Tech didn’t really die in s2. If we look at the facts:
- there was no body
- it’s the finale of season 2 out of 3, pretty early for one of the main titular characters to get killed off
- the only/last character to allegedly see Tech after his fall is a villainous scientist who is known to experiment on clones specifically
- not a fact but: the whole scene with Hemlock presenting Tech’s goggles to Hunter was incredibly suspicious. In hindsight, I think the whole purpose of it was so that the Batch got Tech’s goggles back in their possession as a memento (and to show how evil Hemlock is to rub it into Hunter’s face like that) but it was executed in a way that read as something much more. It read as if Hemlock was going out of his way to convince us/Hunter of Tech’s death, but with us knowing who Hemlock is, his background in experimenting on clones, everything screams at us to not trust a word he says. Is it really so surprising that so many of the viewers immediately jumped at the conclusion that something more was going on there?
- Hunter’s (lack of) reaction/immediate narrative fall-out. More on that later as I address lack of emotional impact of Tech’s death in s3.
- it’s Star Wars. And there was no body.
So yeah, to me, it is completely justified that so many people read that whole thing as open to speculation at the very least, foreshadowing Tech’s survival at most.
Personally, I was 70% sure Tech was truly dead prior to s3, but not because the text told me so, but because at that point I was used to the show’s writing regularly sending out mixed signals, and a part of me was resigned to Tech’s death becoming another example of the writer’s intent clashing with their accidental empty foreshadowing.
As season 3 aired and the whole CX-2 plot was unfolding alongside continued lack of closure for Tech’s fate, my hope for Tech Lives reveal grew and grew, but in the end my initial doubt was proven right, unfortunately.
Oh, CX-2.. what a mess. You can’t tell me the creators went over all of these scenes, all of these lines, looked at the whole picture and *didn’t* see how it was incredibly easy to interpret CX-2 as potentially being Tech with all these little potential parallels. “Domicile” alone.
If they didn’t want us to entertain the idea that it could be Tech, they could’ve done it differently, but for some reason, they chose to leave that space for speculation. My question is, why?
If they truly wanted us to believe Plan 99 was it, Tech’s Noble End that we were supposed to take as this dramatic super emotional ultimate sacrifice and all that, then why would they not make it clear that CX-2 couldn’t be Tech? Why breed confusion? And breed confusion they did. It’s hard for me to believe they didn’t foresee the “ohh is it Tech?” speculation.
When so many members of the audience immediately and individually jump at a theory or have the same take away from the story they are being told, yet the authors say it wasn’t meant to be taken that way, something went seriously wrong with the writing.
I don’t like to speculate on such things because we will probably never know for certain, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they had at some point considered CX-2 being Tech or at least something more for the whole CX plot thread, but changed and reshuffled things at the last minute for whatever reasons.
Which is fine and understandable. But it brings me to the heart of my biggest issue with how Tech’s fate was handled:
lack of impact and closure.
Let’s disregard all the Tech Lives theories for a moment and focus on what we did get: Tech, one of the main characters, getting killed off at the end of s2 out of 3, for stakes and consequences and NOTHING else. When I say nothing, I mean nothing.
Imagine, for a moment, he survived and stayed with the Batch. Nothing would have changed, in the grand scheme of things. Nothing. We wouldn’t have had a few obligatory “Tech mention, everyone feel sad now” throwaway lines/goggle shots and whatnot, sure, but that’s it.
Tech dying didn’t change the trajectory of the plot in any way, nor did it affect any of the other characters in a way that changed their trajectory. And anything less is simply not enough to justify killing one of your main characters. Stakes and consequences ain’t it.
Consider Mayday, for example: a supporting character, but his death in s2 affected Crosshair in such a way it completely redirected his journey, AND in s3 we got an episode that cemented the impact Mayday had on Crosshair and provided emotional closure for them. That’s a narratively meaningful death.
Tech’s death was not meaningful to the narrative beyond removing him from it. That’s why so many Tech fans insist he deserved better treatment: not only was he not present in one third of the show physically, but he lacked any sort of presence even in death. His absence was never processed or grieved by any of the main characters and so by extension by the audience.
And before anyone starts with the whole ‘they are soldiers/they had no time to grieve/etc’ arguments, it is the responsibility of the writers to provide the space for all of that emotional impact. It they don’t, there is no impact.
A few reactions here and there, moments of missing Tech as a person and a brother, not an asset, anything would have made this whole thing easier to accept.
The lines that we did get, from Omega mentioning the stuff Tech taught her to Echo commenting on how decryption would be easier if Tech was with them to “Clone Force 99 died with Tech” from Crosshair - each and every single one of those lines linked to Tech’s functions as part of the squad, his usefulness, but we didn’t get a single line in remembrance of him as a person of his own, no one missed or remembered him for himself or his personal impact on them.
Just one line from Omega about how he taught her about change being a constant part of life or whatever, or Wrecker making a comment on how Tech used to info dump about stuff, anything would have instantly provided that much needed sense of “he was here, he was a person and is still a part of us”. Instead, Tech was killed off to show that messing with the Empire is dangerous and risks are real, I guess, and immediately lost any and all presence within the story.
We never even got to see Crosshair’s or Phee’s reactions to losing him.
Speaking of Crosshair, that’s a whole other example of complete lack of closure: they never closed the loop on the family being reunited again after initially leaving Crosshair behind, and with Tech dead, it’ll forever stay broken.
They could’ve given this a bittersweet yet meaningful spin if they developed the angle of Tech dying on a mission to bring Crosshair home, making a sacrifice so Crosshair had a chance.
Instead, the moment Tech dies, we get Hunter (and through him, the narrative) immediately abandon the idea/plot thread of going to rescue Cross all while saying “let’s not waste Tech’s sacrifice”. Sacrifice for what? Clearly Hunter doesn’t see it as a sacrifice for Crosshair’s sake, so, what, to make sure the rest of them makes it from the mission? The mission to save Crosshair. That mission. Right.
I see people talking about Tech’s noble sacrifice that ensured his family got to live and eventually have their happy ending, but all I can think about is how the creators chose to have him die on a mission that was immediately abandoned and the only take away from that whole sub plot was Tech’s own demise.
And after Crosshair is back with the Batch, his reaction to Tech’s death is never explored at all.
So yes, to me Tech deserved so much better. If you are going to kill off a major character, it must be necessary to be compelling. The way I see it, Tech’s death was not necessary at all because it didn’t change anything. And if it was meant to, the creators failed to communicate that by choosing not to explore the emotional impact of it and not structuring certain story beats in a more precise manner.
To wrap this up, if the way Tech’s death was handled was satisfying for you, that’s valid and I’m glad for you. For me, unfortunately, it’s completely the opposite and will forever remain the biggest and most unfortunate low point in the story.
And while I welcome anyone to share their own perspective if they wish, please don’t take this post as an invitation for debate, since there is no one right or wrong way to interpret or be affected by art.
#tbb analysis#the bad batch#And I ask you to please not use this post as an excuse to hate on the show I love in spite of all the issues described above#you can make your own post to express your dislike of the show#especially for reasons not covered in this post#personally I consider TBB to have some of the deepest and most meaningful moments in all of Star Wars#at its best it is a masterpiece#the character writing is stellar and the subtlety of expression of certain moments is chefs kiss#it’s the story writing I have problems with#tech

Waking Up and Coming Home
A/N: I wanted to explore what might happen if CX-2 really was Tech, what it's like when he wakes up after being impaled, how he survives, and what it might be like for him to get home and find his own happiness. Includes TechPhee and a reason Omega keeps Tech's goggles.
Warnings: Tech wakes up and realizes he has cybernetic implants, drug withdraw, nausea, being impaled, PTSD, cybernetic surgery, Tech finds Crosshair's hand
Word Count: 5.568k
Tech took a sharp breath. He was vertically pinned to something. He tried breathing through the mask, but something was different. The usual smell and taste that accompanied the mask was gone although it was still on. The fog that plagued him was lifting. He instinctively reached down and found an electrospear just below his sternum, only he felt no pain. He blinked several times and removed the helmet. He had no memory of being given this armor. There was no blood and the electrospear was out of power. He felt a series of wires and tubes around the spear and absent-mindedly kept looking around for someone. All he saw were other bodies of those in armor similar to his own and some regs in what he could only assume was prison garb. One of the tubes in his abdomen appeared to be leaking. Was that oil? It didn’t smell or look like blood. He didn’t have time to think about it. Instead, he grabbed the spear and pulled as hard as he could. It was no good. He decided to observe and allow himself to wake up further from his trance. Was he really going to die hanging in the middle of… this was Tantiss wasn’t it? He remembered fighting someone. He remembered flying a ship. He remembered trying to fight his own mind, but he was so far away from his actions. His mind was still not completely his own, but he noticed the gas around the CX chambers had dissipated. Those prisons. That disgusting concoction. Tears came to his eyes as he shook. His breath caught in his throat when he remembered the smirk on Hemlock’s face as he described how Crosshair suffered. Hemlock had perfected his methods since that failure and Tech worried his brother had perished. It didn’t help that he was still stuck in place. Trapped. Just as he had been when he woke up in the containment chamber with a series of cybernetic implants. Arrogant as always, Hemlock enjoyed explaining how this chamber would shape his mind and how it was an advanced form of the same technology that was used to enhance Crosshair’s chip on that fateful day on Kamino.
Tech took another breath and tried moving. He felt a piece of metal on the floor just high enough he could pull it closer with his foot. He tried using that for a little leverage since his own weight made it harder to remove the metal rod stuck in his torso. As he wiggled around, pulled on the spear, and took some deep breaths, the object dislodged from its location behind him and he was able to carefully remove himself and it. He took more deep breaths and looked around. He checked on the other clones whose bodies lay around the room. CX or prisoner, it didn’t matter. They’d all been prisoners. Each time he felt for a pulse and found none he lost a little more hope. He was the only one alive. How long had he been alone in this room? Judging by the condition of the bodies, it hadn’t been too long. Rigor mortis hadn’t set in yet, so less than eight hours.
He sat down briefly and reminded himself to continue to breathe. He kept trying to tell himself that the air was safe now. He had resisted inhaling Hemlock’s toxins, but when constrained, there was no choice. Now, Tech’s mind hadn’t been this clear since Plan 99. Not only did each CX chamber include a gaseous drug the clones continually inhaled, but Hemlock ensured they received a steady dose of the same electric torture that started the process. Tech tugged at the hole the spear created in his armor and looked at his cybernetic abdomen. Tubes that allowed for blood flow were thankfully working. There was a contraption that served as a diaphragm. He hypothesized that it seized up when the electrospear hit him, but started working again not long after, spurred on by his living body’s own neurons. Other tubes seemed to be used for digestion, but those were empty and at least one appeared torn. He reached for the comm badge on his arm near his shoulder, but it was gone. Why did he think there was a comm badge there? Tech didn’t have that. The CX did. He started putting more pieces together. Hemlock had taken it. Tears came to his eyes again when he realized that he helped bring Omega in. It must have been him. He remembered glimpses, but that was all.
He wandered around the room and picked up a blaster in case he wasn’t alone in the facility. Although it was so quiet he could only hear some hounds howling outside, he didn’t want to take chances. As he made his way through the room and wider facility, he found a hand on the floor. Oh no. He knew that hand and its armor. Crosshair. He dared not touch it. At this point even if Crosshair was there, reattaching the hand wouldn’t work after this amount of time. Had he done that? He searched for the bodies of any of his siblings, but they were nowhere to be found and he felt a little relief even though he wasn’t sure where they were.
Tears came to his eyes as he suddenly thought about the CX chambers. What it meant to be a CX. How they weren’t sent out for long, or the conditioning would surely wear off. Their masks had a small supply of the chemical, but it wouldn’t last forever. It drove each man forward when they were released. It kept him obedient.
He wandered the halls some more before returning to the spot where he woke up earlier and examined the inner workings of his discarded helmet now that his mind was a bit clearer. There was some trapped gas in a small chamber, but it appeared the wiring meant to steadily release the toxin had short-circuited. Tech gasped at the revelation and gingerly held the helmet. In a fit of anger, he threw it as far as he could. The sound of it hitting a distant wall echoed through the facility.
Tech swallowed, closed his eyes, and breathed in the stale but clean air. He pictured the sunset on Pabu with Phee. Where was Phee? Where was he now? He was certain this was Tantiss, but exactly where was Tantiss? And how long would his cybernetics last without some help? He headed down another hallway and searched for some tools but wasn’t quite able to see straight or think straight. Echo could help. Could Echo find him? Did his family know where Tantiss was yet? Wait. Yes because Crosshair’s hand was wearing his old armor, although Tech noted it was stripped. Or was his mind playing tricks on him? Tears came to his eyes and he reminded himself that he hadn’t found the rest of his brother yet. Or the rest of their squad. He hoped they were long gone. Had they been successful in his absence? He wandered the facility and eventually found a communications array. At this point he was sure the Empire had abandoned this place, but he couldn’t quite punch in the code to get a signal out. What if it was tracked? He cursed his slow mind and lack of clear decision-making ability. He didn’t want to take risks with this.
He found solace in walking. He had a better idea of the layout of the facility and as he kept breathing and moving, his mind cleared further. He wasn’t sure what else to do. He found what must have been living quarters for some TK troopers and pocketed a few small items that were left behind including a piece of jewelry he hoped would be worth something. Anything to buy him passage to a safe location. That was the plan now. Surely someone else lived on this planet or would visit. His search yielded some clean prison clothes and he decided those would do. He carefully took off his belt and stepped out of the wretched armor. He would rather walk out of this facility naked than wear it any longer. Putting on the new clothes was a bit of a task, but he was in minimal pain compared to how he looked. The belt with pockets was the only part of the armor he put back on. Those would come in handy even if there were fewer pouches than he preferred. Now was not the time to be picky.
Tech wandered down yet another hallway, picked up an abandoned datapad, and scrolled through the downloaded files. They were scientific records of some sort. His mind still foggy, he couldn’t quiet comprehend everything it said, but stuffed it between his body and his belt for later analysis. He noticed there was a broken ship in the hangar, and while his investigation proved it could fly, he didn’t trust that it wouldn’t be tracked. He somehow knew that he had caused more pain than he could remember and didn’t want to risk anything else by leading the enemy to Pabu. He was startled from his thoughts by the sound of another ship landing in the next hangar bay. It wasn’t the Empire. Pirates? It surely seemed so. If they were pirates, then they might give him a ride to a safer location if he had something to trade. The jewelry he pocketed might be enough, but he had a hunch pirates might be more interested in something a little sharper. He wasted no time heading back to the CX chambers. He picked up the unique sniper rifle and all the CX weapons. He sighed as he looked at the other clones. His other brothers. He didn’t even know them, but it didn’t change his feeling toward them. They had all been through some form of hell together yet isolated.
Tech headed back toward the hangar and startled what turned out to be a lone pirate. He found the man lazily looking through crates in the hangar before he spotted Tech.
“I was told this place was abandoned,” the weequay said as he pointed a blaster in Tech’s direction.
“It is,” Tech answered. “I was left for dead.”
“You are not bleeding?” he asked.
“I suppose not,” Tech answered, “although I am unsure of the details. It appears I was drugged and have some sort of cybernetic enhancements.”
The pirate huffed.
“And what do you plan on doing with those interesting looking weapons?” he asked with a grin.
“An exchange,” Tech responded flatly. “I need a ride away from here and you’re my safest bet.”
He tried to think more clearly and took some more breaths while the pirate considered his offer.
“Out of curiosity, how did you find this place?” Tech asked.
The man grinned again and responded, “Lower-level imperials quickly figured out that they will be paid well for information. Abandoned facilities are gold mines. I can sell those blades for a good price. I assume those are one of a kind.”
“To my knowledge, yes,” Tech replied.
The pirate nodded and examined the weapons without moving closer, although he was sure this man had no intention of hurting him.
“I’m afraid time is of the essence,” Tech said, feeling fresh pain in his torso where mechanics now lived.
“If I leave now, I may miss out on something more profitable before the scavengers show up.”
“I’ll give you every weapon here but the blaster on my belt,” Tech said. He was already planning on doing this but framing it as a bonus had an impact on the pirate.
“Very well. How far do you need to go?”
Tech didn’t want to give away his ultimate destination of Pabu, but knew if he could get to Ord Mantell, he could potentially contact one of his brothers or Phee. Cid had left them high and dry last he remembered, so he would be sure to avoid her. The pirate agreed and had Tech shuffle onto the ship with a blaster to his back. This guy was not going to risk Tech turning on him and taking his ship. The pirate put his prize away and Tech sat down. The trip was quick enough, and Tech was sure the weequay would turn around for Tantiss again as soon as he was off the ship.
“You’ve reached your destination,” the pirate said as soon as he landed. “Now, off my ship.”
Tech got up to leave but reached into one of the pouches that remained on his person. He pulled out the necklace he found earlier and stated, “I’ll give you this for a working comm device.”
The man bit his lip and huffed. He should have driven a harder bargain sooner, but he was so enraptured with the vibroblades he got distracted.
“Fine,” he said, snatching the jewelry and hanging Tech a small comm.
Tech nodded and shuffled off the ship. He was met with the smell of mantell mix but stopped himself. He had no money, and he wasn’t sure he could even digest food normally at this point. Instead, he found a quiet location on the outskirts of town and comm’d Echo. It seemed the safest bet and Echo has the most experience with cybernetics should he have an emergency before reaching Pabu.
“Havoc 4? Echo, I need your help.”
Echo picked up immediately upon recognizing the voice.
“Tech?!”
“Affirmative.”
“Where are you? What happened?”
“Ord Mantell. I will send you coordinates to my location via this comm, but I cannot promise it will be perfectly accurate.”
“Do you need medical attention?” came another voice. It was Gregor.
“I may, but it appears I now have cybernetic implants. I was on Tantiss and woke up in a daze. At least I’m fairly certain that’s where I was.” Echo and Gregor heard him sigh in a way they’d never heard before. “I am certain I’ve done things I regret, although my memory is not great, and I don’t know the extent of my injuries, although I appear stable.”
Echo understood.
“We’re on our way,” replied Echo. “Leaving Pantora. The others are on Pabu. Just keep away from Cid.”
“I have no intention of finding her,” Tech said.
“Good,” Gregor said. “She only got worse.”
Tech didn’t inquire about that right now. He was sure he’d get the full story soon enough. He waited some time and at one point was worried something happened. He tried not to think about it too much. His mind was still blurry and he felt like he was going to be sick. What he didn’t know was that Echo had quickly left Pantora to head back to Pabu and pick up Crosshair. Wrecker, Hunter, and Omega wanted to come too, but Crosshair suggested he go alone with Echo and Gregor. Based on Tech’s message relayed from Echo, he knew at least part of what his brother had been through, and it seemed a good idea to take a little extra time getting to Tech and have Crosshair’s help.
Gregor landed the ship and prepared the one bunk with all the blankets they had. Crosshair insisted they would need it. Echo comm’d Tech again. They were only about one klick from the ship. Despite the intense stress of the last few days, Crosshair and Echo summoned their strength to run. They found Tech sitting with his back to a wall, seemingly dozing but very much alive, and both crouched down in front of him.
“Tech?” Crosshair asked.
Tech opened his eyes and saw his brother for the first time since Kamino. His eyes tracked down to where Crosshair’s hand had been and he froze.
“I did that, didn’t I?” Tech asked. The blood drained out of his face and he started retching.
“It’s not your fault,” Crosshair said as he reached for his brother. He and Echo helped Tech up and the three headed to the ship.
Crosshair sat with him on the bunk. Gregor took off for Pabu while Tech peeled back his clothing to allow Echo to help assess the cybernetic device.
“It looks like two of these tubes were pulled apart,” Echo said. “I can try reattaching them and it looks like then you should be able to eat small amounts until we can replace them.”
“Very well,” Tech replied.
Crosshair helped him lay back and assisted Echo with the procedure. Despite only having two working hands between them, it was more than adequate. The tubes were torn from the impact of the electrospear, but the torn ends were cut and the tubes new flat ends reattached. Tech could feel a tug from the shortened pieces, but it was nothing compared to how bad it could have been. Most of the wiring had simply been pushed aside by the spear.
“Not sure how we can close all this up,” Echo said, referring to the abdominal panel covering the cybernetic.
“That is a problem for another time, I think,” Tech replied. “It’s not affecting life support.”
Crosshair nodded in agreement and Echo returned to the co-pilot’s seat at the front of the ship.
“Here,” Crosshair said, lifting a thermos of warm liquid.
Tech nodded when he smelled the broth. He hadn’t been this hungry in a long time and tried to gulp down any calories he could.
“Take it easy,” Crosshair said. “Don’t make yourself sick. I know what’s coming.”
Tech looked at him and nodded. He slowed his pace and took a deep breath as the vegetable broth settled his belly.
“I believe I am experiencing drug withdraws, Crosshair.”
“Mm.”
“It will get worse, yes?”
Crosshair nodded.
“How long?”
“It was weeks for me. Worse for others. The fastest recovery I saw was ten rotations.” His eyes darted before he added, “Hemlock said he improved the conditioning process. It might be longer for you.”
Tech nodded. He finished the broth and laid back down. Crosshair laid down with him. Tech hadn’t realized just how cold and shaky he was until Crosshair held him. His brother pulled a thick blanket over both of them and did his best to help Tech feel comfortable.
By the time they were on Pabu, Tech felt like his body was full of daggers and fever. He kept calling out for help even though his brothers were helping to the best of their ability. Phee, Hunter, Wrecker, and Omega had prepared the bed that was his prior to Eriadu. Crosshair stayed there after Tech’s fall, but now Wrecker had rearranged the bed situation so there was room for Tech and someone to be at his side the whole time. More than a few tears were shed as Crosshair helped Tech stumble off the ship and into the home. Gregor checked in with Rex and took the ship to rendezvous with the boys, leaving Echo behind for now.
They tried to get Tech in bed so he could rest, but he fought against any blankets put on him, seemingly frightened he was back in Hemlock’s lab and being restrained. While it was upsetting to watch, Crosshair calmly reminded him that he was safe and gently helped his brother take in what was familiar. The sheets felt like Pabu. The air smelled clean. He could hear the ocean. The voices and faces of those around him were real. Tech started to calm just enough to lay in bed. He shook violently and his mind seemed to be in two places.
“Sedative,” Tech managed to get out, looking into his brother’s eyes. Crosshair nodded.
“Are you sure,” Hunter asked.
“It’s what I would want too,” Crosshair replied.
Hunter nodded and got the med kit. Phee had already made sure to stockpile what medication she could find on the island and was already making a list of other things they might need for a supply run. She watched in uncertainty as Hunter gave Tech the injection and it immediately took effect.
“Phee,” Tech managed as his body gave in to the medication.
“Hey Brown Eyes,” she answered softly.
He reached his hand out and she took it as she kneeled next to his bed.
“Everything’s gonna be okay, Tech.” That was all she could say before a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth and he fell asleep.
While he was out, Echo and Hunter had a look at his cybernetics as best they could while the others looked on. The person most qualified to work on these was Tech himself, but he wasn’t in any shape to do so. There was a lot of back and forth about what should be done. His heart was beating. He was breathing. He could eat and digest. There was just some tubing that needed replacing and a giant hole through the front and back of his torso. They decided to wait on any internal fixes for now but weren’t sure how to address the hole through the front and back metal panels in his middle.
“We should cover it up,” Wrecker suggested.
“With what?” Echo asked.
“I dunno,” came the response.
“Can we bend the pieces so they lay flatter against him?” Omega asked.
“I could try that,” Wrecker said. “But I don’t want to break something and hurt him either.”
“Why don’t we cut off the parts that are sticking out, and screw on a panel to each side to at least keep him covered up and protected?” Phee asked.
“Probably our best option,” Hunter replied.
Wrecker picked up his brother and carried him to his workbench. It was the safest spot for removing pieces of metal. Tech was completely out. Echo removed the sharp edges and Phee and Crosshair found some scrap metal in the right size. Echo managed to connect the front piece before Wrecker rolled Tech over and made sure he was as comfortable as could be. Once they were sure every component inside his abdomen was secure, Echo attached the back panel. The largest clone then lifted his brother and carried him back to bed.
The rest of the night was a cycle of Tech sleeping, waking with a start, shaking, and fighting invisible monsters. Crosshair spent the first night sleeping next to him. Whenever Tech would shake or lash out, he would hold him until they both fell asleep again. Crosshair’s heart was heavy. He knew none of this was Tech’s fault. If anything, he felt pangs of guilt for staying in the Empire so long. He took a deep breath as he held his shaking brother. It took work, but he was starting to accept that it wasn’t all his fault, thanks in no small part to his sister constantly reminding him. The Empire kept him prisoner. Hemlock experimented on him and tortured him. He tried escaping multiple times before he and Omega were successful. A yawn hit him and he relaxed further. Tech’s soft snores made him smile. He would do whatever it took to make sure this family was okay.
In the morning, the sedative had worked its way through Tech’s system and he’d slept through the remaining exhaustion. He woke up next to Crosshair and felt the warm sun greet him. His eyes tried to adjust, but he realized that some of his dizziness was the result of the fall damaging his eyes. His pupils kept trying to adjust to take in as much information as possible and he couldn’t find his goggles.
“What is it?” Crosshair asked.
“My goggles,” he said.
“They’re in the Archium,” Phee answered as she appeared in the doorway with some breakfast.
Tech looked up at her and tried to smile. Phee sat next to the bed while the two men ate. Tech continued to have bouts of shakiness, but greedily ate the meal in front of him.
“Take it easy Brown Eyes.”
Tech felt heat creep on his face at hearing the nickname with a clearer mind.
“I don’t remember when I ate last, aside from the broth yesterday.”
“How do you feel?” she asked.
Tech looked down at the mended hole over his torso and moved his limbs a little.
“My eyes are struggling to focus and the shakiness is returning.” Tech swallowed some hot tea and looked at his hands. “I keep having flashbacks.”
“It will get better,” Crosshair reassured him. Tech felt comfort knowing his brother had overcome this conditioning and while Hemlock’s methods on Tech were worse, he was confident he could work through this.
“If I got you some tools and supplies, do you want to try making some new goggles?” Phee asked.
Tech nodded. “I should scan my eyes first to determine the type of lenses, but then yes.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” she replied.
Omega and Wrecker overheard the conversation and ran to retrieve the beloved item from the Archium. Tech was shaking and sweating again with Crosshair still by his side and Hunter joining them. Omega silently held out the goggles to Tech. They talked about how they obtained them and how precious they’d become. Tech held them in his hands and stared back at them like looking at a former version of himself.
“Better to start from scratch,” he said, holding the googles out to Omega. “Feel free to throw them out.”
“I’d rather keep them” Omega replied.
“Why?” Tech asked.
“You were wearing them when you taught me to fly,” she answered. “They’re special to me. To us.”
“Very well,” Tech replied with a smile. He tried taking some steadying breaths, but continued to shake. To take his mind off things, he looked at the spot where Crosshair’s hand once was.
“I could make you a cybernetic hand if you are interested.”
“I know you can,” Crosshair replied. “For now, let’s focus on you.”
Tech nodded. He was in no shape to build something as his body continued experiencing withdraws, but he could think about what he wanted to make. He could visualize his new goggles and Crosshair’s new hand. He could picture a life here. He could picture himself being a bit more forward with Phee. He could picture flying with Omega again. Sitting on the beach with Hunter while Wrecker fished. Sitting with Crosshair and talking about something he was researching while Crosshair sat and listened. Now that he thought about it, his often-silent brother hadn’t been this affectionate since they were cadets. War changed them. The Empire changed them. Change was part of life. This was a good change, though.
As the days went on, his withdraw symptoms became easier to handle. He had ups and downs but they were, as he put it, damped oscillations. Batcher also made herself known and curled up with him at least once a day. She had a calming presence just like his siblings. Even when his insides felt like they were vibrating and overheating, every calming presence helped.
Hunter sat with him and when he was ready, got him up to speed on things. He was the one who drew the short straw and had to tell Tech that the Marauder not only blew up, but who blew it up.
“Is Gonky alright?” was the next question out of Tech’s mouth.
“He is,” Hunter assured. “Wrecker got him away just in time.”
“Good.”
Somehow, despite it all, the family made it out of the Empire’s clutches.
Several weeks into his recovery, Tech finished his new goggles and started working on Crosshair’s hand. He was not as efficient as he normally was, but he was still recovering. With each little project he started to feel more like himself.
When he finally felt well enough, he asked Phee and Omega for help to better fix his cybernetic.
“I will do everything in the front, but I need you two to help with the back,” he said.
“What about the others?” Omega asked. “They could help too.”
“Our brothers are busy today helping some new residents move in,” Tech replied. “I am ready, and you are both more than qualified to help, if you would like.”
Phee and Omega shared a look. It was clear that Tech was done waiting now that his withdraw symptoms were finally gone and he had an idea of how he wanted to approach this. They discussed the plan and so ten weeks to the day after he came home, Tech took his shirt off, and sat backwards in a chair next to his workbench so the surgery could begin.
“You sure this won’t hurt?” Omega asked.
“I will inform you if it does, but none of the cybernetics have hurt yet,” he replied. “The only pain occurred in my living tissue.”
Phee looked at Omega and took a breath.
“Alright,” Phee said. “Here we go.”
She removed the plate Echo had hastily applied to Tech’s back all those weeks ago. Most of the work involved better flattening the pierced edges where the spear had torn through. Echo and Hunter had done a good job getting the bulk of the metal frame removed around the hole, but it was still uneven. Phee took her time and Omega wasn’t sure she’d ever seen her work with that level of gentleness and care. Phee was always thorough and precise, but there was something different about this. Omega handed her tools as needed and then took a picture for Tech to see what it looked like before they closed up his back cybernetic plate.
“Well done,” was all he could say about it.
Phee sealed the back plate closed and they helped Tech sit up. It felt much more solid, even without addressing the larger hole in his front. Tech itched to get to work on himself. He sat up and decided that it would be easier to work if he was laying along the workbench at an incline. Phee got him a series of supportive pillows and cushions so he could lay back without being flat. This allowed the cybernetic tubing to relax and give him a bit more room to work. Omega positioned a mirror in front of him so he could watch himself work without straining his neck. Tech didn’t waste any time. He removed the temporary plate, inspected the internal wiring, and secured one piece that was not as well attached as he would like. Phee handed him tools so he could focus on his work. He removed the tube that acted as the bottom of his esophagus and removed it carefully. He secured a slightly longer and wider tube in its place. Once he was pleased with the position, he sat up and moved around to be sure it wasn’t tight like the original had been. Satisfied, he laid back down and widened the hole in his abdomen plate.
“Tech?” Omega asked. “What are you doing?”
“Creating a rectangular opening,” he replied.
Phee smiled. She had a feeling he was going to try something like this. Tech shared a warm look with her before picking up the pieces of plating that had protected him since his return and trying to rearrange them.
“Wait a minute,” Phee said.
Tech and Omega watched her hurry onto her ship, and she quickly returned with a square piece of metal painted in a familiar shade of blue with a bit of orange along the edge.
“I had to replace this piece on my ship. Looks like it might be the right size.”
Tech gladly examined the piece and silently noted the paint job before sharing another smile with her. With a small adjustment, it perfectly fit the rectangular hole in his stomach. Phee retrieved some hinges and watched him determine how to fit it all together. It wasn’t enough for Tech to fix his own cybernetic. He had to enhance it by giving it a door.
“Secure, but easier access in case of an emergency,” he explained.
Omega put his tools back where he liked them while Phee helped him sit up. He twisted his upper body around and looked pleased.
“Comfortable?” Phee asked.
Tech nodded. “I am still getting used to it, but this is an improvement.”
Omega watched a little awkwardly, but decided it was time to make her exit given how Phee looked at her brother while helping him put his shirt back on.
“I’ll see you around!” Omega said before skipping back home.
“Walk with me?” Phee asked.
Tech nodded and they headed down the path meandering through town and down to the water. Tech felt a little unsure, but paused and held out his hand toward her just a little. Phee took it in her own and leaned into him before they continued their jaunt.
“I keep thinking I’ll wake up and you’ll still be gone,” she admitted.
“That is merely your brain trying to process the situation,” he explained. After pausing a moment and considering what he knew of her he added, “I will do my best to remind you that I’m back until you are certain.”
Phee squeezed his hand a little and nodded.
“You want to get some dinner?” she asked.
“I suspect my family is already partially through their meal,” he replied, noting the time.
“I mean just with me, Tech. Would you like to have dinner with me?”
His eyes widened before a smile pulled on the corners of his mouth.
“That sounds wonderful, Phee.”

A/N: So I wasn't able to get the angst to work, largely because I wasn't in an angsty mood. Also, as much as I love the CX-2 being Tech idea, I had a different idea for this fic, so I hope you like it!
“What d’ya have there, Noir?” You ask as you return to the small hut that has been your home for the last three months and crouch in front of your oldest companion.
Noir’s tail wags rapidly as he nudges something in your direction.
You gently rub his head, then carefully pick up his offering, “Oh, it’s a fish. Did you find dinner for us, pal?”
Noir releases a happy yip, and you laugh softly, “Good job, Noir.” You stand and carry the fish over to the rough kitchen to divvy up the portions. Most of the fish will go to Noir, while you’ll prepare your portion with some seasoning that the Wookies traded with you.
Three months ago, Noir slaughtered an Imperial Officer who threatened your life. You’ve always known that he is fiercely protective of you, and you knew that there was a chance that he would kill again if you were threatened.
The first time it happened you had still been a child. Your uncle tried to kidnap you, and Noir reacted violently.
That time, the authorities just nodded and said it made sense, that your uncle had bad intentions. Neither you, nor Noir, were punished for the death of your uncle.
The Empire is much less understanding.
You had no choice but to take Noir and flee from Coruscant.
The pair of you bounced from planet to planet for several months and then were offered a safe house on Kashyyyk, in the Shadowlands far below the treetop homes of the Wookie people.
It’s not easy.
You are, at your heart, a city girl. Hunting and survival skills do not come naturally to you. Luckily, you have Noir. He really is the greatest equalizer.
If not for him, you’d have died several times since you moved into the small hut.
The biggest downside to this whole situation is the knowledge that you’re not likely to ever meet your soul mate.
Well, unless your soulmate is a Wookie, you suppose.
Carefully, you fillet the fish on your cutting board and toss the large majority into Noir’s bowl, the rest is set in a bowl of marinade and shoved into the fridge.
At least you have electricity.
Sure, you don’t have a holo, but you do have a radio that allows you to keep up to date on the current events, and, much more importantly, listen to books while you fight to keep the Shadowlands from reclaiming the hut.
You’re about to flip the radio on, when Noir releases a low growl.
A growl low enough that your hair stands on end.
You turn your gaze to Noir and see that his ears are flat against his head and his teeth are bared. Spooked, you reach for your belt and grab your blaster, and then you nudge the door open.
Noir slinks out of the hut and, cautiously, you follow him.
The forest is silent. Eerily silent.
You scan the forest around you, not that you expect to be able to see or hear anything. It’s enough that Noir is still growling as though he’s on the verge of attacking.
There’s a rustle in a bush, and you lift your blaster, only to lower it as a small, curious-looking creature ambles out. It’s red, black, and white, and you’d almost think it was a raccoon if not for the colors.
Noir is still growling like there’s a threat, but he’s ignoring the small creature, which is still ambling towards you. It stops at your feet and raises on its hind legs, and you crouch to get a better look at it.
When Noir first appeared in your bedroom all those years ago, no one was sure what kind of animal he was. Not even the zoologists at the local university were able to determine a species.
So you spent a lot of time as a child flipping through various animal encyclopedias. And, while you’d never claim that you had a perfect memory, this little creature does look familiar.
“You’re a Red Panda, aren’t you?” You murmur as you lightly stroke the soft fur on top of her head, “Your kind isn’t native to Kashyyyk, how did you get here?” What’s more is that she’s soft, as though someone’s been taking care of her, though based on the scarring around her ankles, she’s been chained up a lot. “Are you someone’s pet?”
The red panda climbs into your arms and promptly falls asleep, nuzzling her face into your neck. “Well, you’ve clearly been socialized. Maybe I can do something about the scarring.”
Your head snaps up as there’s more rustling and Noir’s growl lowers.
Five Stormtroopers stumble into the clearing, “There it is!” One of them says as he points at the Red Panda in your arms, “Get it!”
You stumble backward as they lift their blasters and Noir launches himself at the Stormtroopers.
You’ve always known that Noir was quick. Quick and with a strong bite, but the last time you’ve seen him move this quickly was when you were a child. He manages to kill three of the Stormtroopers before they recognize that he’s a threat.
The fourth and fifth, however, turn their blasters on him.
And, for a moment, you think that you’re going to watch Noir die.
You only think that for a moment, as another man emerges from the forest. He’s clad in black armor, much unlike the stark white armor of the Stormtroopers. And you watch as he uses a blade to kill one of the Stormtroopers from behind.
You watch as he and Noir work in concert to kill the last of the Stormtroopers.
And then you watch as Noir jumps up on the man, his tail wagging faster than you’ve ever seen before. The armored man seems surprised at how friendly Noir is, and, to be honest, you are too.
He’s so friendly with the armored man, in fact, that you can’t help but think that Noir is the representation of said armored man.
“Noir,” You say, drawing the attention of both the wild dog and the armored man, “His name is Noir.”
It’s kind of hard to read him, seeing as he’s wearing a helmet, but you’re pretty sure that he’s staring at you. “Ka’ra.” He gestures to the red panda in your arms, “She’s been a prisoner her whole life.”
“That explains the scarring,” You walk over to him and pass him his spirit animal, a small smile crossing your face as Noir drops to his paws and bounces around you. “I have some medical stuff, to wrap her scars if you want.”
He’s quiet for a long time, and then nods once, “I’d appreciate that.”
You lead him into the hut, and motion for him to take a seat anywhere while you dig around for the first aid kit.
Once you find it, you set it on the table and open it to dig through what you have left. “You know, you don’t have to leave your helmet on.” You note lightly, “This is a pretty safe place.”
The man hesitates for a moment, then he nods once and reaches up to pull off his helmet.
You’re genuinely surprised to see that he’s a clone. He looks like every other clone you’ve ever seen, dark hair, dark eyes, dark skin…though he does have some nasty scarring along the side of his face.
He’s handsome, you decide as you focus back on your medkit. He kind of looks like Noir, if you squint.
Though, now you have to wonder if you look like his Ka’ra.
“Ah, here we go!” You pull several rolls of bandages from the bottom of the kit and some scar powder. “If I remember correctly, this needs to be added to water, and then the bandages need to soak in it for a bit before we apply them—” You mumble under your breath as you flip the bottle and squint at the instructions.
“What’s your name?” The man asks.
You glance at him and introduce yourself absently, before you squint at the directions again, “What’s yours?”
“...CX-2.”
You pause, “Well, it’s nice to meet you. I’ve never actually met another person with a soul animal before.”
“It’s rare, then?”
“One of the rarest soul bonds.” You agree, “The only one that’s more rare is the teleportation one.” You stand to grab a clean bowl and fill it with water before placing it on the table.
“I have a brother with the teleportation soul bond. He vanished one day, never saw him again.” CX replies as he watches you.
“Well, there are a lot of you.” You reply as you add some of the powder to the water and stir it in.
He doesn’t answer for a moment, “What is a human doing on Kashyyyk?”
“Ah…well.” You pause, “Noir killed an Imperial Officer who threatened me.”
CX stares at you for a long time, and then his lips curl up into an amused smile, “Good.”
You shoot him a puzzled look.
“He’s as protective of you as I would be.”
“Yeah, well…he is representative of you, right?” You reply with a small shrug.
“I didn’t expect you to be so calm about it,” CX notes, “You do realize that I’m an assassin, right?”
You start unrolling a roll of bandages, “When I was about eleven years old,” You say quietly, “My uncle tried to kidnap me from my bedroom. Noir,” You nod at the wild dog who is gnawing on a bone, “ripped his throat out before he got me out of the living room.” You look at him, “Why should I be afraid of you?”
CX looks startled for a moment, and then a quiet laugh falls from his lips, “I suppose you have good reason to not be afraid.”
You shrug, “I would prefer it if you didn’t assassinate people anymore, but I’d also prefer to not live in a hut on Kashyyyk, so—” You shrug again, and finally drop the bandages into the water.
“What would you have me do instead?”
“Mm, you can join the Rebellion?”
“Ick.”
A laugh falls from you, “I mean when the Republic was still standing, I never had to worry about Republic Officers threatening me. Within a month of the Republic turning into an Empire, I was threatened by an Imperial Officer.”
“...I suppose that it fair.”
“I’m not going to make you do anything,” You say lightly, “We can stay here if you prefer.”
“We?”
“Well, I assume that you want to stay with me?”
CX gazes at you silently, “I want you safe. So staying does make the most sense.”
You meet his gaze evenly, “I’ll definitely be safer with you, compared to away from you.” You agree.
CX is silent for a long moment, “Mandalore.”
“Beg pardon?”
“There’s a group of former Commandos who have a compound on Mandalore. They’re housing clones and their families.” He explains, “We’ll be safe there.”
“How do you know that?”
“All of the Clones know it.” He says, “Well, save for Alpha Prime, I suppose.”
“How are we supposed to get there?” You ask with a tilt of your head.
“I have a ship.”
You grin at him, and then pull the bandages out of the water, “I think it’s a great idea.”
It takes three weeks for you and CX to get to Mandalore, and it takes even longer for CX to prove that he’s not an active threat to his brothers. You’re not able to help with that, but watching him interact with you does a lot to earn him some goodwill.
You like your new home, it’s not Coruscant, but there is plenty of room for Noir to run around and get spoiled, and he does get spoiled. Not quite as much as CX’s Ka’ra, but pretty close.
Surprisingly, CX is somewhat clingy. When he’s in the same area as you, his arms are around you, or his hand is in yours. You kind of have the feeling that he’s a little touch starved, so you don’t mind it.
On this particular day, you’re lounging in the sun, watching Noir and Ka’ra play together, while CX is sparring with Ordo (only the Nulls aren’t hesitant about sparring with CX, which is sad, but understandable).
You enjoy watching him spar largely because he tends to spar shirtless.
You’re allowed to be a simple woman when it comes to your soulmate, right?
“Watching them again?” A familiar voice pulls you out of your musing, and you tilt your head back to look up at the familiar man approaching you. “You could join them.”
“Hardly, if Ordo so much as scratched me, both Noir and CX would rip him to shreds.” You pat the ground next to you, “Have a seat, Tech. No need to hover.”
“He still wishes to be called CX?” Tech asks as he sinks to the ground next to you.
“It’s his choice.” You reply easily, “How was your physical therapy?”
“Painful,” Tech replies, matter-of-factly, “However, my healer believes that I am getting to the point where I will no longer need to see them.”
“That’s something. Are you thinking of reaching out to your brothers? Or your soulmate?”
“I am…unsure.”
“Oh?”
“I died.” He says bluntly, wincing as CX manages to flip Ordo onto his back, “I died, and my soul bond is weaker than it was before.”
“I assume your doctor has an opinion on that.”
“Of course. He says that I just need to reach out to Phee.”
“Why haven’t you?”
Tech anxiously adjusts his glasses, “What if she has found someone else?”
“Do you really think that she would?”
“...she is a beautiful and clever woman. Any man would be lucky to have her—” Tech starts.
“You’re borrowing trouble, Tech. You need to call her.”
Tech opens his mouth to reply but stops as CX jogs over.
You smile up at him adoringly, and offer him his water bottle, “Having fun, love?”
He smirks, “Ordo is bitching because I managed to flip him. So we’re having a round two.”
“Of course you are.”
He flashes a tiny grin at you and crouches so he’s able to kiss you quickly before he jogs back over to the sparring ring. His training was so different from his brothers, you can tell based on the scars covering his body, and based on the fact that he’s not quite as solid as Ordo and the other Nulls.
Not that any of that matters to you.
You love him as he is.
“It does not make sense to me how someone as kind as you ended up with someone like him,” Tech admits, “He intimidates everyone, and lashes out when pushed.”
“I’ve never been afraid of him.” You reply with a small grin, “Even when he killed someone in front of me, even when he loses his temper.”
Tech shakes his head, “I believe I understand.”
You tilt your head curiously.
“You are just as insane as he is.”
You aren’t able to help that laughter that bursts from your lips, “I suppose,” You say through your giggles, “that’s one way to view it.”
Tech flashes a crooked smile at you, and then gets back to his feet, “I am going to go send Phee a message, and hope that she forgives me. Enjoy your ogling.”
You fling a handful of grass at him but don’t deny his accusations.
The spar ends an hour later after it gets too hot for them to continue, and CX makes his way to your side, dropping onto the ground next to you. Immediately his arms slide around your waist and he presses his face against your neck.
“Did you have fun?” You ask as you card your fingers through his curls.
He hums in response, his arms tightening around you, “I’m glad that you don’t mind coming to these.”
“I enjoy watching you spar.”
He pulls his face away from your neck, “You enjoy watching me do anything.”
“You are ridiculously handsome.” You shift in his grip slightly so you’re able to press your hands against his cheeks, “I’m a lucky lady.”
“Mm, is that right?” CX asks as he leans in and presses his forehead against yours.
“You’re all sweaty,” You whisper to him.
“So maybe we should go home,” He offers with an arched brow, “You can wash my hair for me.”
A giggle falls from your lips, “Deal.”
CX grins at you, and crashes his lips against yours, knocking you back onto the grass.
Everything isn’t perfect, CX still needs gene therapy to remove the enhanced aging, not to mention regular therapy to help deal with all of his issues. But so long as you’re together, everything will be fine.
You won’t allow for anything else.

TBB Season 2 Retrospective
Season 2 of TBB is my favorite season for sure. I love all the character moments we get such as the conversation between Tech and Omega. It's why I love this show because at its best, TBB really tackles some mature topics. Although the Batch mainly do missions for Cid, I think it foreshadows season 3's ending really well in retrospect.
"Tribe" might be a fun adventure with Gungi, but on a deeper level, it's about Hunter realizing that what Omega needs is a true home and stability. It's the first instance in S2 where Hunter gets a look into domestic life. Phee as a character serves many purposes. She's an ally to the Batch and takes them on adventures. However, she also challenges Hunter's soldier lifestyle for Omega. Phee comments that Omega needs people her own age and stability, something that none of the Batch understand due to their upbringing. "Tribe" and Phee, along with some moments from S1, do a great job setting up Pabu.
Pabu is an ideal place for the Batch to live and raise Omega: it's hidden, beautiful, and welcoming to all. With all the signs encouraging Hunter to settle, Pabu is perfect. On a side note though, I do feel that the conflict in the episode "Pabu" was a bit contrived. Personally, I don't think we needed a tsunami for drama. I was perfectly content just watching the Batch relax.
S2, like S1, also does a great job of balancing the Empire's machinations with the Batch's shenanigans. "Metamorphosis" not only serves as a Batch mission for Cid, but also the introduction of Hemlock and the return of the Zillo. It develops both stories in a natural way which made for a phenomenal episode. The two-parter "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences" equally shows the Empire's decommissioning of the clones, introduces the CX troopers, and what motivates Echo to leave. This is why I love TBB. We get a glimpse into how the imperials caused such chaos and created the Stormtroopers. Btw, I think the show handled the transition from Rampart to Hemlock really well. Both storylines were set up and interwoven with each other, which allowed the one villain to rise and the other to fall.
The notion that the Batch should settle is a major arc for Hunter and Omega this season. Hunter really begins to consider Pabu as a new home, especially because he wants to keep Omega safe. The more he sees the growing unrest, the more he reaffirms the decision in his mind. Clones have never settled down before and it's a new life for Hunter. He always wants to do right for his family and protect them. That's what leaders do. Even Wrecker slowly comes around to that idea and leans a lot on Hunter for decision making.
Omega gains a lot of new perspectives in S2 and I really loved that. She learns that things aren't what they always appear and that change is a part of life. This takes form in many ways, like when Romar showed her the kaleidoscope. Tech is another great example. He might not outwardly show his emotions the way she does, but his heart burns brightly for his family. And like Hunter, Omega begins to realize that having a home like Pabu isn't such a bad idea. She could grow up safely and make friends her age.
As for Echo, I realized that S1 does hint at his choice to leave in S2. His decision makes a lot of sense given his strong sense of justice and camaraderie with Rex. He's always been about helping others. This man has such a beautiful soul.
I think Crosshair is self-explanatory. Only three episodes and I perfectly understood what he did and why he did things. His humanity could no longer take being abused the way it was. He knew where his heart truly lied and he made his choice. S1 established his attachment to the Batch wasn't gone. But he wasn't ready to fully see the truth just yet.
Tech. Beautiful, smart, brave Tech. How much I miss you. S2 did so much giving him depth and maturity. They easily could've kept him as the stereotypical nerd who has great dry humor. But they chose to take a more thoughtful route. Like Omega, Tech learns to see things from a different perspective and it helps him grow as a person. It's those little moments that mean so much. I wish we could spend more time with him because Tech has so much to share with us and S2 highlights that perfectly.
AND TECH GOT THE GIRL (kinda but yall know what I mean). They could've chosen Hunter, the objectively attractive one, but I'm so glad they chose Tech. Look guys, I'm not a girl who goes out and buys all those trendy clothes or wears lots of makeup. So, it meant a lot that Tech was able to win over someone's affections. And kudos to Phee for always being understanding and loving Tech and his awkwardness.
I do have some other thoughts on Tech I will make a separate post on because it's something I really thought about on this rewatch.
S2 has beautiful music and animation on top of some stellar storytelling. "Mayday" will always be my personal favorite and "The Outpost" is always going to be my favorite episode. It means to much to me.
Overall, the best season imo. I love S3, but it has pacing issues, and S1 just makes me sad.

Thoughts on The Bad Batch Episode 12 - Juggernaut - A Discussion Post
This episode had a lot of action, feelings, and a very unexpected return. Let's return to this week's episode filled with exciting moments and moments filled with worry!
(SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT SEE THE EPISODE YET! all screencaps from www.cap-that.com! https://www.cap-that.com/starwars/the-bad-batch/312/)
CX-2 returns to Mount Tantiss with Omega, Hemlock coming by to pick her up. He tells Omega to follow him, and CX-2 lets her go of her handcuffs, returning to his ship.
I'm being so serious, we have three episodes left. If CX-2 doesn't get unmasked by the next episode I'm going to lose it. If it ends up happening near finale or even in the finale, it's gotta be a character that's so important to the plot (*cough* Tech) that we had to wait so long for this. But I also feel like if this is Tech, shouldn't it have happened by now at least? I'm so confused.
I saw someone post about this and I didn't notice it at first, but if you zoom in on this shot above, you can see that Hemlock's glove is missing, showing both of his hands clearly. I rewatched the episode and noticed the error, but the second they go back into Tantiss he has it back on.
Hemlock immediately takes Omega to Emerie, wanting her to keep testing Omega to make sure she has the whole M-count thing. Emerie seems reluctant for a bit, but keeps doing her job. Omega tells her that she doesn't have to do this, but Emerie says she has to. But she is happy her sister is safe at least. Omega questions if she is truly safe, and she really isn't. Emerie likely knows this too, but she's still trying to open her eyes more to all the wrongs around her.
Hunter (with Batcher) gets back to Crosshair and a now awake Wrecker, feeling better after getting knocked out in the explosion from last week. Wrecker is upset Crosshair let Omega go, but Crosshair understood her choice and the fact that she let the Empire stop hurting the locals of Pabu.
I got so sad when Crosshair's hand started shaking again, he's so terrified of Mount Tantiss and what he went through. He tells his brothers that there is a way of trying to find Tantiss, and that is through the former Vice Admiral Rampart.
Phee shows up with AZI, having gotten here secretly away from the Empire's eyes. She finally meets Crosshair, and tells him that Tech has told her about him. My heart-
I would have loved to see all of the off-screen interactions Tech and Phee had, he really liked to talk with her, and she loved listening. Lula and Tech's goggles being visible behind Phee and AZI made me even more sad.
Phee goes with the boys to the Imperial labor camp on Erebus, making her ship fall to sneak into the planet undetected. Girl was over here driving in heels; she's such an icon. Wrecker and Crosshair were struggling in the back, and Hunter was worried. His helmet just flying freely when the ship is falling was so funny. Tech would adore Phee's flying since she drives like him. Phee manages to get them in and drops them off to access the prison and find Rampart.
The boys manage to obtain control of a tank transporting prisoners, which Rampart is in. I was not expecting to see him again after what happened in Season 2, as I kinda just left the character behind ever since he got arrested and Hemlock replaced him as the new reappearing villain a few episodes later last season. Someone joked that they Agent Kallus'd him because they added more hair to Rampart, which is just funny. Rampart manages to recognize Crosshair under his armor, and Crosshair was so sassy with him too, I loved it.
The Imperials on the prison base notice something wrong with the tank the Batch stole and go after it, leading to an action-packed chase. (And Hunter drives insanely.) Phee manages to rescue them just in time, shooting down one of the Imperial ships chasing them. Rampart had gotten stunned after trying to shoot the boys, and it was hilarious how they were just throwing him around like a potato sack.
The Batch ask Rampart where Tantiss is, but not even he knows. He says it was designed like that so it wouldn't be found. I was spending some of my free time on Wookiepedia and I wish we could send the Batch the information that Mount Tantiss is on the planet Wayland. It's not coordinates, but it's something.
Meanwhile, Emerie continues to test Omega's blood, and it comes out positive again. She looks at Omega, seeming deeply worried. She doesn't say anything, but Emerie has something on her mind. Hemlock comes back and Emerie tells him about the results, and he wants Omega to come with him. Omega goes to the same place he took Nala Se and Emerie previously, taking her down to The Vault. Omega asks questions about the M-count situation, to which Hemlock gives her vague answers and direct answers about what the Empire has been doing with M-count subjects.
Omega sees the kids in The Vault, frowning. Eva sees Omega and lifts her head from her game, and I just know that she and Omega will be besties. Omega asks who the kids are, and Hemlock replies that they are the pieces of the puzzle that they are trying to solve.
He says, "...this is your new home", and the doors immediately shut behind Omega. The chills I got; and Omega looked scared. The episode ends there, and Omega is locked up again with no direct escape yet.
There wasn't much that I wanted to discuss from this episode, but there are only 3 episodes left, so we are now truly in a big anxious countdown. How will Omega escape this time? Will the Batch manage to obtain coordinates to locate Tantiss? Where's Echo when you need him? Will Emerie wake up soon? Will CX-2 unmask himself soon? There's still so much to unpack, and so little time.

I found what made me so mad about Tech/CX-2's ending, too.
Buckle in, folks, this is gonna be a ride.
------------------------------------
I want us all to go back to the year 2004, when a certain movie came out....
The Village (2004) - Check Trailer (youtube.com)
Please watch the trailer, and tell me what you feel.
Because, for those of us who had seen The Sixth Sense, we were excited beyond belief when this trailer premiered.
The Village promised to be a genuinely scary fairy tale in 19th century America, directed by the guy who made one of the best ghost movies of all time. What could go wrong?
To hype things up, I was in rural Michigan when it came out. The woods around my dad's house looked JUST like the woods in the film where the monsters lived.
So, off my girlfriends and I went to see it. And I'll never forget waiting to watch it: we were all talking about what the monsters might look like, what they did, what would happen. We were ready to be scared.
But then the previous showing of The Village finished (it was a small theater with only a couple of screens), and we watched the audience walk out.
I'll never forget their faces.
The collective audience that was leaving was PISSED. Angry. Saying they felt cheated, that they felt dumb, that M. Night Shyamalan was personally making fun of them.
I took note of this, and went in, wary, with my friends to take our seats.
And the movie did a great job of setting up the terror. The scenes where the monsters showed up genuinely scared the audience. We were screaming. My buddy Katie had her eyes covered and Teresa was actually yelling at Joaquin Phoenix the whole time.
We were reacting in real time with strong emotions.
And then the ending happened. Another famous M. Night Shyamalan twist.
And that twist wasn't clever, or interesting, or engaging.
That twist was MEAN.
The monsters were never real. It was a series of costumes and ruse designed by other characters in the movie as part of an elaborate plan.
So the things that had been scaring the audience? The terror we genuinely felt? All the screaming and hiding? All for nothing. It was all fake. It was a farce within the movie. We were screaming at NOTHING.
Our actual emotions felt like a joke.
That we were delusional and stupid for believing something that we had clearly been led to trust
Sound familiar?
I found myself agreeing with the people I had heard earlier. That the director and writer was giggling somewhere at his funny little prank, seeing the audience get invested and engaged, only for the rug to be pulled out. That we were all dummies for believing him.
This was actually one of the first times I got involved in fanfiction as a result because I was so angry. I heard of fanfiction.net, and immediately searched for ones of The Village.
And guess what I found?
Every. Single. One. Fixed. The. Director's. Choice.
They made the monsters real.
They acknowledged what we felt, what we expected, what we wanted. They wanted us to trust our feelings, and they wanted to deliver. Hell, most of them were better written then that movie, too!
(I'm so glad this was the beginning of the end for M. Night Shyamalan. I've refused to watch any of his movies since.)
All of this goes to say...directors, showrunners, and writers who choose to do this suck. It ruins experiences for the audience.
It feels as if we are being mocked. That a prank is being played on us.
And it ruins the legacy of the show, too.
Dragging on the hopes and expectations that a dead character was coming back (a common trope in the Star Wars franchise) and then ending it unceremoniously was unnecessary and cruel.
I was never fully on the CX-2 is Tech train, but I had my moments. I even did art of it. But in the back of my mind, I kept thinking....
..."It's been 20 years since The Village, surely, writers are beyond pranking their audience?"
Whelp, I was wrong.
For everyone who was hurt by this, I'm sorry to hear it.
You deserved better as a fan and as a viewer. We all did.
Okay, this is likely the only thing I'll post on the Bad Batch finale situation:
Tech fans, I would like you to stop calling yourselves "delusional." (Or delulu, or any variant.) I would sincerely ask others to stop as well.
It is both ableist and quite literally inaccurate from a storycraft standpoint.
(Especially because we're talking about a likely neurodivergent character and definitely many neurodivergent fans.)
You weren't. We weren't. The signs were there. The foreshadowing (falling into clouds, the goggles, CX2's Everything) was real and consistent and *intentional.* You are not delusional for LOGICALLY FOLLOWING writing convention patterns and leading where the writing is directing you. (If there's something the majority of autistic story-enthusiasts are good at, it's logical storycraft and pattern recognition, both in creating and consuming! We know how to follow basic steps!)
They can say "oh it was just a red herring", and that is Technically (ha) true, but it is one of the most blatant and frankly cruelly marketed ones, that smacks of stringing fan emotions along to keep us watching when they know many would stop watching if they knew what lay ahead. (Using a basically-confirmed-autistic character's death for shock value and little else, and then using the ambiguity of Is He Really Dead Or Is He This Extremely Similar Looking Guy We Brought in Right After' to keep churning up social media buzz. I might have.)
You were not delusional to have hope - that's what Star Wars is about.
You are not delusional to think this is wrong, a writing fumble, or simply them yanking the football away when *it was there all along.* The road signs were clear, they were just... lying, for lack of a better term.
You're not wrong for being upset about this, the latest in a long history of autistic characters treated as plot devices and catalysts for neurotypical characters' development rather than their own, and fans taken advantage of.
Please treat yourselves better. And if you're on the outside, or neurotypical, please treat us better. I promise, we have actual reasons for feeling pain right now, and delusions are not at all among them.
Thank you.

okay so i'm panicking. maybe it's because a lot of things are all happening at once, and i'm supposed to be the one who's calm on the outside. i told everyone i had this under control. i have to be daddy, for what feels like, all the time these days. and it's not that i don't want to be. it's not even that i don't like it. but there are levels. there are the times when it's fun, and there are times when it is fucking frightening. everyone says, do this or do that, and i am the one who has to make sure it doesn't fall apart. i make it happen. in the end. all the time.
or maybe it's because i just can't shake it. the feeling i was able to talk myself out of a year ago, but am, for some reason feeling again now. i think about her all the time. and something that felt so hidden, is suddenly crashing in with the rest of my world, and i can't keep it to myself anymore. and all i ever wanted was to have her to myself. i knew i couldn't, though, and i tried so hard to be okay with that. and even as a friend, i told her i needed more from her. and i did. but beign around her now, i still feel it. i felt it when she rested her head on my shoulder, and almost instinctively, when i responded wordlessly by placing my hand on her knee. like we always knew we'd end up back here.
and i find myself feeling possessive, even now. obsessive, even. i looked for her in every person in that crowd, as i often have in places i thought i might see her. (i just spent 30 minutes and am still spending time trying to locate the hotel we spent our first night together in because i've hyperfixated on it for the last 2 weeks and cannot think of anything else.) update: i didn't find it. the way i've felt the same withdrawals i did with zeke, the way my body can't seem to handle missing her now that i know it's so close. the way i feel it in my gut every time she doesn't text me back. maybe i always knew that was why i was so hurt when she chose so many other people over me. even though i knew she'd have me if i said so, every time.
but then part of me tells myself that what i want is just to get off on feeling like i have this sick twisted place in her life that no one can replace. i looked for her everywhere in that club. in every face, every tall blonde femme in the crowd. and it felt just like--like such edward cullen shit. like a fucking vampire in the club, glaring out suspiciously, waiting for my lost lover to arrive so i can protect her. and of course, by the time i did find her, she was already pretty drunk, which i hate to admit, but is one of my favorite tropes. i love keeping a pretty drunk girl safe. maybe it's because i somehow think i'm the only person equipped for the job, but i love guiding her through the crowd by her pinky, holding her hand, holding her hair. god, the things you are able to romanticize after growing to hate with a year of distance.
dead people get off easy, their actions forever memorialized in only the good stuff. this is what i have to remember, though, about CX. i have to remember all the parts, why i chose TB, why i didn't even tell him there was a choice. why i pretend like i never loved her, not like that. why i told jo that i wasn't serenading her when i sang you and i--i was. because of course i was. because the only reason i wanted to be open was so i could taste her again. because the feelings inside me were getting to be a bit--much. because the only reason i even thought about being poly for a second was so i could be with her. because i realized i couldn't share her. because i realized i needed someone who could take care of me, too. because i realized i needed more in a partner. and i decided this before even giving her a chance, but that doesn't mean i think i made the wrong decision.
i think i made the right decision. i thought i did. but then my body went into full-on fight or flight mode after our first queer couples counseling consultation where we found out the cost was 5k. and i fucking went along with that, like no problem. i saw TB's eyes light up, and they said there was a waitlist, and there were only two open spots (smart) and i said yes, and the first payment went through for $1666. so the invoice came in, and i saw the angel numbers: 666.
so it's a sign to refocus. but on what? am i supposed to be doing this therapy? or is this telling me that i need to not focus on this so much, and that i'm about to waste a bunch of money on shit solutions for a relationship that i might be done trying for.
so there it is. the fear. the fear that after all this time, after accepting so much, that i still love her more than i love him. that i waited for him to evolve, and he has, but not into her. that i told myself that would happen at all. but what if i'm the type to jump ship when i feel a better option? i am proud of myself for sticking it out in this relationship, but i can feel myself become more distant from TB by the day.
i know objectively i can't break up with him. i shouldn't. but i want to. i know i'll regret it, but right now, i want to.
i can't even think about her without my stomach dropping. and of course, i feel guilty because he is already being so trusting with me, encouraging me to pursue this friendhsip again. and obviously it's not even an option right now, but i can't stop thinking about her, and it doesn't feel the way i know friendship feels.
it's not the way i feel around ayesha. it's not the way i ever felt with AS or AB. i just feel--like helpless lately when i think of her. but maybe i just crave newness. maybe i just can't be satisfied with something for long enough. and here i am, and what the fuck am i going to do if he leaves? if i make him leave? he doesn't want to leave. i know. i can tell. but i just keep drifting away. i know he can feel it. i can see it in his face.
i think i fucked up. i don't know how but i feel like i massively fucked up. what have i done where am i what did i do is it normal to feel this panicky when investing in your relationship with your partner?
fuck, i feel the way i felt like with JB, but i also feel like JB? like i became JB? yeah, no, that's what this feels like. more so. like i just fucking need to see her. and i have never needed that from TB, mostly because he's always been here.
and how did i make a song that used to make me sad make me think of her and make me sad all over again? how am i pining again
how am i pining again
i thought i was over this shit
i need to tell someone
there is no one to tell
because everyone got to love her but me
one more night holding your hand, not
knowing what might find me at home.
one more night underneath my sheets--i
feel more than i see, and this has
always been my favorite way to
get to know you.
one more night pretending that we could have it all
because why am i still so in love
with the way your smile
pours into me

Review: The Kia XCeed
Some days, during lockdown, I imagine a time when I would sit at my work desk and fly through the days ‘To Do’ list. On the day I’m imagining, the sun is bright, glinting off the new cars. The staff are laughing with the steady stream of customers, the scent of fresh coffee wafts on the breeze, and there is the regular jingle of keys as they pass from hands of the service department to their awaiting owners.
Something catches my attention in the periphery of my vision; a customer pushes through the tall glass doors of Leslies Motors. They have walked straight past the pre-owned vehicles on the forecourt, so I can safely assume they’re after something new. They haven’t walked directly to one model, instead they browse the variety that the brand has to offer.
One of my colleagues walks up to the customer, offers his hand, and after a succinct and professional introduction asks a question that gets straight to the heart of the matter; “So, what are you looking for in a new car?”
Invariably the response is; “well, I’m not sure. But, I want something higher up”. And there it is - I’m waiting to have ‘showroom bingo’ cards made with this response printed on.
I’m not making sense, am I? What am I talking about?
“SUV” is apparently a dirty word. This imaginary customer wants to buy into the UK & Europe’s new love of Crossovers, and they don’t want to admit it.
The moment you point at the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Kona, Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, Mazda CX-5, or any of the numerous SUV’s now available, the customer says, “ah yes, that’s just what I’m looking for!”
Europe loves SUV’s. It’s not a bad thing. They are comfortable, practical, well built, and generally loaded with the latest features. And Kia’s newest offering is just that, and a whole lot more.
Allow me to introduce, the Kia XCeed.
Looks: The name Kia Ceed may seem familiar. Years ago Top Gear used the Kia Ceed as the “Star In The Reasonably Priced Car” feature. There, the penny’s dropped hasn’t it? It was an entirely different car back then, the new Kia Ceed was launched in 2018, and has quickly become a favourite amongst critics looking for an alternative to the VW Golf or the Ford Focus.
Since then, Kia have made an Estate [Kia Ceed Sportswagon], a sporty Shooting Brake [Kia ProCeed], and most recently a Crossover SUV [Kia XCeed].
The XCeed is longer than the Hatchback it is based on, and sits at a higher ride height. It features rugged SUV-style protection, roof rails, and a front bumper similar to its SUV kin; the Kia Stonic & Sportage.
Interior: The XCeed, and it’s Ceed based brethren, all received Kia’s new 10.25” touchscreen display. When you sit inside, it feels like the cabin has been based around this connectivity suite. It’s not just a feature, it’s a highlight.
The software has been a Kia strength for a long time. The displays are instinctively user friendly, and this new screen has taken that a step further. It features Android Auto & Applce CarPlay as standard, and can be splitscreen - to show the Satellite Navigation, DAB Radio, and Apps at the same time - or widescreen, to show a huge Sat-Nav or Reversing Camera.
The ‘3’ receives a semi-leather interior with Heated Seats, and the ‘First Edition’ launch special adds a full leather interior with Heated & Ventilated Seats. As well as a Sliding Panoramic-Glass Roof, making the elegant interior appear larger than it appears.
Engines: The XCeed uses the most popular turbo-charged Kia engines. A growling 1.0T with more than adequate pace, and a smooth four-cylinder 1.4T. But, what’s exciting about the new XCeed is that it’s be the first Kia to get the new Plug-In Hybrid drive train, since the electric-specific Kia Niro. Kia claims the new XCeed PHEV offers an almost unbelievable 202 miles per gallon (WLTP).
This 1.6 Petrol engine is paired to a battery with roughly 40-mile range. That may not sound a lot, but I’ve been using a Plug-In Hybrid recently, and hear me out; in reality I only need to charge once or twice a week, often while I’m sat at work. During the week I won’t use a drop of fuel, as I’m running entirely on electric power. Then, at the weekend if take a longer journey, it drives like a regular Hybrid, and can be topped up with petrol on the go – no need to wait hours for a charging station. It’s the best of both worlds.
The six-speed DCT gearbox is supremely smooth, and in electric mode the XCeed is practically silent. This has taken Kia’s already good car to new levels. The PHEV version offers a refinement that premium models wish they could offer in this price category.
The Competition: When it comes to Crossovers and SUV’s on the market, you are spoiled for choice. But how many offer a Plug-In Hybrid option?
In looks you may compare it to the new Audi Q3 Sportback, with its sleek rear end. But this isn’t hybrid, not even close. The Q3’s bigger brother, the Q5, is. However, at £50,000 plus change, vs Kia’s £30,000, customers are unlikely to be comparing these two.
BMW has a smaller and more affordable option; the X1 PHEV. At £38,200 the BMW is rouhgly in the same ballpark, but when comparing features of the X1 PHEV ‘Sport’ leaves a lot to the imagination compared to the Kia’s top-of-the-range ‘First Edition’. The XCeed features a Sliding Glass Panoramic Roof, Power Boot Hatch, Full Leather interior with Heath & Ventilated Seats, and a futuristic 12” digital dashboard. So, it’s the driver’s choice; for the excitement you’ll pick the BMW’s XDrive25e engine, but if you’re leaning towards family value, with features often only found in premium brand’s, you’ll pick the Kia.
The real battle will once again be between Kia and Ford. The new Kuga offers a PHEV which is competitively priced and offers plenty of kit. The blue oval will test Kia’s value, but not it’s comprehensive seven-year warranty. The Ford is larger, and what you gain in size, you lose on interior design. But that is subjective, and to some the Ford’s utilitarian interior may appeal.
The other choice? Kia. Walk into a Kia dealership and you currently have a choice between two Plug-In Hybrid Crossover SUV’s. The same engine, motor, battery pack, seven-year warranty, and features, are all available in the previous mentioned Kia Niro PHEV, and for a similar price.
Business User:
The XCeed is destined to be hot property with Business Users. It’s satisfyingly snug on longer journeys, has space for all the family, and sits as comfortably in the corners as it’s hatchback brother.
The PHEV is going to be the Business Users first choice. While the initial price maybe more, you’ll end up paying less in company car tax thanks to the low BIK (read: low emissions). So, you’ll have better fuel economy, a longer range, a smooth electric drive, and less to pay each month from your wages. It will mean a small change in lifestyle, for a big financial gain.
Chances are you’ll choose to lease, and run as an asset off balance sheet, or finance on Kia’s new 0% PCP*.
Island User:
The Garden Isle is an apt name for our green and pleasant land. The ferry port cities across the water suffer with some of the most polluted air in the country, but thanks to the Solent we’re not party to it. The Kia XCeed as a Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle ensures that Island families can still go out into the great outdoors with their bikes, scooters, and surf boards, and rest safe in the knowledge that the emissions are significantly less that what they had been previously driving.
The additional boot space and roof rails of the Kia XCeed add practical features to and already beloved hatchback. It comes standard with the latest Kia safety features, including ‘Lane Keep Assist’, Driver Attention Warnings, Forward Collision Avoidence, Hill-Start Assitance, as well as the usual ABS, Tyre Pressure Monitor, and Intelligent Cruise Control.
Compared to other Hybrid rivals, the Kia XCeed makes a real case for itself thanks to its features, value, and the reassurance of Kia’s industry leading seven-year warranty.
Choices:
The Value Choice: Kia XCeed ‘2’ 1.0T Manual
The Range Topper: Kia XCeed ‘First Edition’ 1.6 PHEV Automatic
Leslies Motors Favourite: Kia XCeed ‘3’ 1.6 PHEV Automatic
Verdict:
The design is going to polarise people. Either you love the looks of the XCeed or you don’t.
When I had two XCeed ‘3’ in white sat on the forecourt waiting to be collected by their new owners, I had the whole service team begging me to organise an offer for them.
For most buyers, the 1.0T is going to be ideal on the Island. The 1.4T offers a little more refinement on longer journeys. But for business users, or those wishing for a serenely smooth electric ride, the PHEV is going to be first pick. Thanks to its low emissions and tax benefits. The interior is going to offer a wow-factor to your passengers, not often seen in this price range and you’ll be back by Kia’s legendary warranty, and the offer of 0% finance*.
The only tough question, is how to place your order while we’re all locked in.
*Offer advertised to end: 30th June.

Python 3 and PyGame in 2018
Table of Contents
1. Why PyGame?
2. Why Not?
3. Explicit Is Better Than Implicit
4. Three Pain Points
5. Other Cool Libraries
6. More To Come
1 Why PyGame?
PyGame is a nice library for getting started with game development. It is a good way to learn programming in a "real programming language" while making games1. There is very "magic" going on in PyGame, and you can go from print("Hello World") to drawing a triangle on the screen and then to Pong or Tetris with a smooth learning curve.
PyGame is also an easy way to get your feet wet in game development if you know and use Python already, for example in machine learning or web development. That's how I came to learn PyGame.
2 Why Not?
PyGame is just a low-level library for creating windows, drawing on the screen, reading joystick input, and playing sounds. OpenFL, Löve2D, FNA and LibGDX fill similar niches in the Haxe, Lua, .Net and Java ecosystems, respectively. If you want a full-featured engine, use Unity3D, UE4, or Godot. If you don't want to learn to code, you will probably fare better with GameMaker or Stencyl2. If you want to tell an interactive story with little actual gameplay, maybe Twine or Ren'Py are more your thing.
3 Explicit Is Better Than Implicit
Maybe PyGame is not for everybody… However, if you do just want to make small 2D games, and don't want to rely on automagic functionality, PyGame could for you. That means you have to code your own game loop3, poll the keyboard or game pad, and update the screen yourself.
Your game loop will look something like this:
import pygame pygame.init() # ... # setup stuff here screen=pygame.display.set_mode(screen_size) clock=pygame.clock.Clock() running=True while running: clock.tick(30) events = pygame.event.get() keys = pygame.key.get_pressed() for e in events: if e.type==pygame.QUIT: running=False elif e.type==pygame.KEYDOWN and #... # handle jumping etcetera # ... # move sprites around, collision detection, etc # ... # draw pygame.display.update() pygame.quit()
The ease of just drawing pixels on the screen and the lack of hidden features sometimes makes it harder to get started making certain games genres. If you start from scratch in Unity3D, you already have a level and a camera and you can just create a sphere GameObject and check a box to enable the physics engine. If you draw a circle on the screen in PyGame, it's just pixels on the screen. These pixels don't know anything about cameras, raycasting, or physics, so if you want to move the view around, make your circle clickable, or have it bounce off walls, you have to connect the systems yourself. PyGame gives you tools to check for collisions, a Sprite class that is the closest equivalent to GameObject, and a way to find out where on the window the mouse was clicked.
If you want to use a pre-made physics engine like Box2D, or roll your own, you have to write some glue code, but PyGame will stay out of your way.
This can even be a tremendous advantage when you want to make a game like Tetris4, or like SimCity, where you don't want to use 3D collision detection and a physics engine anyway, and collision detection happens on a grid. A game like Braid, where you can rewind the entire game state, will also be much easier if you have full control over your game loop. You can do all these things in a big and opinionated engine, as Hearthstone (a card game made in Unity3D) has showed us, but if don't need these features, you sometimes have to code around them. If you code around features you don't need, or re-build your own systems on top of a commercial engine, you might end up writing more code than if you had just started from scratch5.
All of this goes double for tools like PuzzleScript, RPG Maker, GameMaker, Bitsy or Twine. These are all geared towards certain kinds of games, and while they make it really easy to make that kind of game, they make you jump through hoops if you want to build anything else.
4 Three Pain Points
Although I just told you that PyGame is a great library, it is not as popular among game developers as it should be. This is mostly due to three problems dating back to the Python 3 days: multi-threading, deployment, and HD screen resolutions.
Multi-threading: Due to the GIL, an unfortunate implementation detail in CPython6, you can't have two threads execute Python code at the same time. That means your multi-threaded Python programs will still run in parallel, but there will only ever be one thread running at any time. On a single-core machine, there is not that much to worry about, because you only have one core that can run code anyway, but on a multi-core machine, you can't really take advantage of the additional cores. Still, what you could do is have one thread handle input and draw to the screen, while another, long-running thread does complicated enemy AI calculations that take longer than one frame to complete. That won't make your code run any faster in aggregate, but it will can at least ensure that the tick-input-update-draw cycle of the game loop runs at a smooth frame rate while the AI takes a lot of time.
If you're using i/o operations from the Python standard library, long-running numpy code or clock.tick(FPS) in PyGame, these libraries do the right thing and tell the Python interpreter that they are entering a section of native code during which Python code can safely run in another thread. But in general, you could have a Python function that calls native code that doesn't return for a while, so the Python interpreter is executing the same line of Python and other threads can't run. If that bit of native code is waiting for input, your whole program will freeze until the input arrives, even if you have ten other threads waiting that could do useful things in the mean time.
There are two modules to help you with concurrency in Python 3: multiprocessing and asyncio. The first has been around since Python 2.6, and lets you execute Python code in another process. This is useful if you have long-running computations like enemy AI that you want to run on another core. The other, asyncio is new in Python 3.37. With asyncio, you can run multiple coroutines in the same thread. A scheduling object called an event loop will execute coroutines piecemeal whenever there is input available. Because asynchronous coroutines are basically Python functions with some extra syntactic sugar, you can have tens of thousands of them running at the same time, unlike processes or kernel threads, which need a comparatively large amount of RAM to create and some time to context-switch. The use case for asyncio is pretty much the opposite of the use case of multiprocessing: Lots of threads8 waiting for i/o instead of long-lived processes that crunch numbers.
Deployment: There used to be no simple and easy way to package Python 2 games for end users. Sure, you could ask them to install python, either from Python.org or from the package manager of their choice, and give them the source code. Or you could use py2exe or py2app and create portable versions of a python script, but you couldn't build Windows, Mac and Linux executables from the same configuration file, and only on the respective platform. There were multiple competing standards for packaging python modules as source distributions: distutils, setuptools, distribute, and distutils2.
In the mean time, a smart person invented cxfreeze, which would automatically package every single dependency, every resource file and library used by your program, into one big archive. Unfortunately, that approach tended to pull in a bunch of DLLs that are already present on most end users machines. You also need to have the script already running on the target platform to analyse the dependencies at runtime.
With Python 3, setuptools has won, and the others have been merged into it9. There is a new file format for packaging Python modules called wheels10, that lets users install modules with native code without a C compiler. PyInstaller11 lets you build self-contained, portable versions of scripts on Windows, Mac or Linux based on the specification, and pynsist12 lets you create a windows installer for a Python script from any platform, because it downloads windows-compatible wheels and includes them without setting up a cross-compiling environment. The Panda3D project is even working on a cross-platform binary packaging system for Python 3 games based on setuptools!
HD screens: The software-based rendering in PyGame gets slower proportionally to the number of pixels. If you draw a 16x16 character sprite onto the screen, that makes 256 pixels. If you blit a background picture into a 640x480 (VGA) window, that's 307200 pixels already. If you scale that window up to 1280x960, that's four times as many pixels, and 1080p full-HD resolution has 6.75 times as many pixels as VGA. Things that were quite fast at low resolutions become a real bottleneck on HD screens, and you really feel the burn when you run PyGame on devices with a slower CPU and a HD screen, like a phone or a Raspberry PI.
Even if you run your game logic at a low resolution, and just scale up the screen to HD with pygame.transform.scale in the final step, that still means moving lots of pixels around in software. Scaling your game up to full-screen on a HD display can easily take the majority of your processing time. And remember, we effectively have only one core!
If you could copy your 320x240 surface into a texture and scale up your pixel art with the GPU, you eliminate a major bottleneck. The GPU is surprisingly fast and energy-efficient in phones, tablets and on the raspberryPI.
Fortunately, instead of directly drawing pixels into your window, PyGame can give you an OpenGL context and let you use whatever OpenGL bindings you like. In the past, that would have been with PyOpenGL, or pyglet. With Python 3, we can use ModernGL. ModernGL is much simpler than the other two. It targets only modern versions of OpenGL. Unlike PyOpenGL and pyglet, there is no support for immediate mode or the old fixed-function pipeline. You have to use vertex buffer objects and custom shaders. It's fast, and it lets you do fancy post-processing effects in addition to scaling.
If you need more performance, or fancier effects, you can incrementally transition from drawing into PyGame Surfaces towards creating individual textures for your Sprites and rendering directly with OpenGL.
5 Other Cool Libraries
The missing level editor: Tiled13 is a great level editor. You can use PyTMX14 to read the maps files, and pyscroll15 to render them.
Discord Rich Presence: All the cool kids are on Discord16. With pypresence17, you can let your player's friends know what the game is called, which level they are on, and how many points they have scored. It definitely beats having "now playing Python3.exe" as your Discord status line.
Creating Videos: moviePy18 gives you a simple API to create, load and edit GIFs, WEBM and other video file formats.
6 More To Come
The problems I used to have in PyGame haven't disappeared, but in 2018 and with Python 3.6, they have become solvable. It is possible to started making games with PyGame, and to polish and deploy them on Steam and itch.io. There used to be a tool to deploy PyGame to Android phones and tablets, but that was based on Python 2.7 and some hacks to get everything to run. With the current effort to port PyGame to SDL2, we can soon deploy games written in PyGame to Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and all major consoles, which support SDL219
This post is longer than I thought already, so I'll take a break here. In the coming days I will write more about using the asyncio module to do i/o in PyGame without tanking your frame rate, using the moderngl module to scale up your pixel art, and trying out deploy-NG, a setuptools extension from Panda3D to distribute games to end users.
Footnotes:
1
I recommend Al Sweigart's tutorials at http://inventwithpython.com/, and http://inventwithpython.com/pygame/
2
Maybe you want to start designing games first instead of learning to program, so you start out with these tools, but I would recommend you learn at least a little bit of a real programming language as well, to get some perspective. If you learn C#, which is a real programming language, together with Unity or Godot, please look up which features are part of C# and which are unique to your engine.
3
To avoid common pitfalls with game loops, read these: http://www.koonsolo.com/news/dewitters-gameloop/ and https://gafferongames.com/post/fix_your_timestep/
4
I am speaking from experience here. We made a Tetris-like game in Unity, and it was not worth the trouble. You can see the result here, but it's nothing special: https://blubberquark.itch.io/tetrominions
5
Please don't write an engine from scratch! People like Jon Blow, Tommy Refenes, John Carmack, David Pittman or Notch wrote their own 3D engines for various reasons. That said, if you actually need a big 3D game engine for your game, please don't write your own on top of PyGame. You are not John Carmack (unless you are, in which case you should stop reading this because you know more about programming than I do). Use Panda3D or Godot if you want something that is open source and Python-based (Godot Python support is still in beta, but getting there). Or use one of the commercial engines listed above.
6
I'm simplifying massively here. Look up the Global Intepreter Lock if you want to know more. The GIL also allows PyGame to call SDL functions without worrying too much about whether SDL is thread-safe. It's not all bad.
7
Only with Python 3.5 it has become really usable, though, and they are still working out the kinks in the API.
8
I mean that as in lightweight threads, Erlang threads, green threads.
9
You can still find distutils in Python 3 for backward compatibility reasons.

SDL2 already runs on the Nintendo Switch, for example. Unfortunately, the licensing terms of the Switch developer kit prohibit you from publicly sharing code that targets the Switch API in public. You have to contact Ryan Gordon and ask him for access, after signing the NDA. I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, but as far as I understand it, although the licensing terms of PyGame and SDL allow you to share the code, Nintendo could still sue you for breach of contract. That problem is not unique to PyGame though. A similar workaround exists in the Haxe world, where you have to contact Lars Doucet to get access to a version of OpenFL for Switch. There is also a homebrew version of Python available at https://github.com/nx-python/PyNX, but the NDA might prohibit you from using homebrew and reverse engineering.

Monsters from lalotai-mini bosses
the inhabitants/villagers of mouthpiece-followers. knuckle one players. supportive and background characters
Summery-plot (may be a little more than that):
many solar eclipses ago… roamed monsters across the realm, terrifying and feasted upon unfortunate souls. fear reigned with a shadowy hands, sneaking around your neck and its grip rooted itself in the hearts of the living.
time went on and something new arrived on the field or rather someone… they were not alone.
five powerful entities arrived with a common goal in sight: to start a new age. build this world as they see fit.
and it worked. they defeated the monsters with ease and took over the lands.
they became heroes in the eyes of the weak. leaders and than gods.
for years things were considered to be good, until a prophesy reached them.
{5 gods ruled together.
4 feared betrayal.
3 took every measure.
2 became hateful.
and 1 will regret forever}
the uneasiness was apparent. it sounded confusing at first but the more they thought about it, then more it the fear took over.
who’s most certain to betray?
maybe someone who wants more? one that didn’t get a apposite? the one who will wait for the right moment to get it?…
from here their fate was set.
time went on. the lands became darker and fear spread yet again. the 4 gods went underground, unable to watch the world they once ruled as a family. their followers continued on worshipping them.
hoping that the 4 horsemen would return when a new age will arrive.
——————the present———————
Lamb lived in a valley hidden away from others. it was peaceful. if you followed the rules.
1: don’t stray too away from the village.
2: if you do, stay hidden from strangers.
3: don’t cause trouble.
4: do as the leader says.
simple right?… unfortunately lamb often like to leave the village to search for something, but never knew what it exactly was. so they always ended up the same place.
the ocean.
something called for them to cross. to do something but it was never loud enough for them to understand what it was.
chief ratau found them deep in thought by the water. not unusual for him since it has happened ever since he brought them back from one of his crusades. lamb was the only survivor of their village. he was lucky that no one else saw them as they fled.
it felt like it was just last month it happened. but alas the little lamb is now a sheep. old enough to take responsibility… isn’t it too soon?
“AHHH?!” *thud*
brought back to reality. he now saw lamb sitting on the ground caressing their bum with a wince.
“are you alright?” ratau asks. offering a hand to help them up, which they accepts
“yeah, I just got surprised that’s all” they chuckle.
“I see, what got you so lost this time?” lamb didn’t answer right away. too busy with looking at the ground instead.
“let me guess, you are nervous for your upcoming ceremony?” they nods slightly. still not looking him in the eye. there’s definitely more to it. But before he could ask lamb spoke up.
“what if I’m not ready? or just don’t… waaaaaant to?” they drew out the last part.
he observed the lamb while considering his next choice of words.
he reaches up to place hand on their shoulder with a comforting smile gracing his face. they have already become taller than him, which has its advantages and disadvantages.
“I can assure you, that only you have those thoughts in your head. you have worked hard and the others are understanding. just take one step at a time” lamb finally makes eye contact and returns a small smile.
*letting go and then shrugs* “buuuuut if you don’t want to then I will respect your choice” he turns around and walks away with a little playful grin on his face.
“WHA- uh-HEY!” they run to catch up to him. rats are surprisingly fast. even this old one.
“Seriously?” although their tone sounded annoyed, they couldn’t help but find the rat’s demeanor amusing. always with some kind of trick hidden in his fur.
“yes. I believe in you and your ability to figure things out. your ways may be a bit…” he gesturing his hand in a rotating manner while trying to find the right words “different or even eccentric. but in the end they worked out. you have proven a lot of things without even intending to and you have never let fear slow you down before so why now?”
ratau is right. lamb mulled it over countless times in their head. it came to a end when ratau stopped walking. They’re already at the entrance to the village.
“you are far better than you think, I have seen it so many times. but can you please promise me 2 things? when you find your path, come at visit me and be safe where ever you go”
Without hesitation they nod with a smile.
*that’s my kid* he pets lambs head before walking away.
——————————————————
ratau gets sick shortly after and things around them subtly starts to change. the harvest begins to fail. fish disappear and so on.
one evening ratau choose to tell lamb the truth. the red crown he always wears have protected this village for a long time and given him the gift of longevity. he were there when 5 gods ruled the lands. before the prophecy.
but now time is running out. not only for him but for the world as well. the crown needs to be returned to its rightful owner the one who waits
-(insert a little joke here where lamb ask if he’s named that bc he is waiting for getting his crown back like some sort Cinderella)-
lamb choose to do this without much hesitation. if you want to safe their adopted father and rest of the village. it has to be sooner than later.
There’s no time for a ceremony (which is more of a formality) and immediately hands over the crown officially.
-(can’t be used by someone who didn’t give them it of their free will)-
With the info and directions they got from ratau. they were ready to start their journey.
To return the red crown to the one who waits.
——————————————————
the crown first lead lamb to narinder who keep saying that he’s the one who waits but are missing a few details of why he’s mortal now and only have a few powers left.
-(longevity. strength. reading thoughts (?). 6th sense that helps him locate dying and dead beings for far distances (also if someone is dying soon even tho the person is healthy)-
They fight their way to lalotai to get his weapon back (can be a scythe or sickles). they meets the 4 horsemen (his siblings. he finally remember what happened but are too weak to defeat without his godly part.
-(the plan that was mentioned in the prophecy was the one leshy. heket and Kallamar. they wanted to separate his powers from him so whatever effect it would have on the world
-(the one that’s happening right now in the story)-
could be prevented. but since they were only 3 instead 4 (not strong enough) they couldn’t fully complete the ritual and he instead got separated into 2 beings instead. a weakened Narinder escaped in the chaos that the whole waits anger caused towards the others (they got wounded). they sealed him away but never found narinder.
they managed to escape the 4 horsemen. with the knowledge they now had they could finally bring a end to this upcoming apocalypse. narinder on the other hand wanted to become whole again so he could have his revenge. even if the world would end for that to happen (it most likely can at this point). which is a problem for lamb.
he needs to the red crown to do so (but can’t take it from them without their consent) and lamb don’t want the world to end (and this can happen in 2 ways).
while arguing, a big storm arrives and they get caught in it. landing somewhere else.
narinder had enough and choose to continue on (hoping to be able to talk with his godly part and work together to get their revenge. separated or not, they want the same).
while lamb is on the verge of giving up. the red crown in a attempt to help. shows lamb some memory it has from it’s time with ratau. moments where he failed, others were he succeeded and soon. this helped to cheer them up a little bit. it ended with memories of them together and some others lamb didn’t know about. times when ratau spoke with others or with the crown about them. how he really thought.
he really did believe in them. now weaponed with more determination and motivation than ever before. they continued on.
they arrived just in time to save narinder from his godly part’s rage. while avoiding being spotted by him, they talked about it all. narinder did realize some things on his way and especially while (literally) facing what his siblings feared for so long.
lamb had an idea. instead of taking about what fueled his anger why not showing him compassion. patience and understanding. narinder stared at them like they had 3 heads (ironically since he have 3 eyes). not sure about it but chose to trust them.
—————little timeskip bc I’ve already been typing on this for about 8 hour at this point 😭—————
after some fighting. talking. dodging outta heck and back. narinder and the one who waits finally finds peace and with lamb and the red crown’s help gets whole again without feeling the need to go on a rampage, again.
-(he haven’t given up on revenge yet, but have chosen a more petty path for that. one that won’t destroy or kill everything. but just to bring him a smile and make his siblings suffer just a little big)-
Things slowly turns to normal and lamb comes back home, with a guest.
of course only ratau knew who this god is (the one they worship in the village (they are the last ones to do so). narinder also recognize him as his last vessel before the prophecy.
slightly awkward atmosphere. one lamb is known to either break or make worse.
Shortly said. they managed to do both things this time. it was so awkward to the point that they ended up laughing.
after ratau got better. had a talk about this being the next leader and the village could benefit from not hiding away from world. ratau was a bit hesitant since it’s been like that for so long but after seeing the glint in lambs eyes. he realized the change in them. a good one.
it took a long time before everyone got used the world and the strangers within it. lots of hard work and lessons of self defense but the brought fruit.
now is the question, what CATastrophe will hit them next?
——————the end for now——————
ohh my ghoul… I did NOT plan on writing this much 😦😧😲😮💨😯🫠
when inspiration and motivation hits, it hits HARD (I have worked on this for around 9 hours (legitimately just saw @runningwithscizzorz ‘s post on the top of this post and immediately went to work).
sorry for any misspellings. gramma errors and etc (English is not my first language (self taught) and I haven’t written so many stories since the lockdown happened (mental health you know (with a artblock too).
so it’s not so super well written (first time writing this kind of thing on tumblr) or at least feel more hastily worded since I need sleep and the important things needed to get written down (I really tried to made it nice).
also I my way of writing the character are most like not accurate since I haven’t played the game and have taken a lot freedom in connecting these 2 things.

if you have gotten this far. thank you so much!✨
you have my respect and gratitude

As a way to maintain guests entertained or simply provide the ultimate outdoor relaxation, outdoor TVs are becoming more popular. Only the few TV are designed for outdoor use, because of the heavy light during the day we should check the reflection quality, clarity of the picture and the brightness.
One of the best TV with these qualities and used for outdoor use is Sony XBR85X950H. Not many televisions meet the requirements for good outdoor television; below are our recommendations for the best outdoor televisions you can buy this year. See also our recommendations on best kitchen TV, the best bedroom TV, and the best smart TV.

Best TV for Outdoor Use – Reviews
Outdoor television is a great way to entertain your family and friends. It can be used in outdoor or indoor settings, but it is not always necessary. It is also good for outdoor activities like hiking, camping and other outdoor activities.
1. Best overall: Samsung The Terrace
Check the Price on Amazon
Samsung The Terrace is the best outdoor TV that we’ve reviewed. It’s a specially built QLED TV for outdoor use, and it’s the first real outdoor TV we’ve checked. It’s outstandingly well-built, and the whole framework is made of metal. There’s a cover where the inputs are to shield them from the elements, and IP55 water resistant is valued for this model, but this is not something we are looking for.
How bright it gets is the standout feature. Simply put, it’s the brightest we’ve checked, and combined with its superb reflection handling, even with bright sun on it, you shouldn’t have any trouble using it outdoors.
The VA panel has an excellent contrast ratio, amazing black uniformity, and a good full-array local dimming function that offers exceptionally deep blacks, even if you want to watch television with it at night. Without any issues, it upscales lower-resolution content, and the built-in Tizen OS has a lot of applications you can use.
[external_link offset=1]
Thankfully, it has small viewing angles, but when viewing from the edge, you sacrifice image accuracy. The built-in speakers are very loud, but when you play at their full volume, you can detect some distortion. Thanks to its exceptionally high peak brightness and wide color gamut, the HDR content still looks really good. All in all, you can’t really go wrong with this one if you want to purchase a TV dedicated to outdoor use.
Pros:
High contrast ratio.
Exceptional build quality.
Can get extremely bright.
Outstanding reflection handling.
Cons:
Sub-par viewing angles.
2. Best OLED Outdoor TV For Night Use: LG CX OLED
Check the Price on Amazon
The best outdoor TV we’ve reviewed for late night use is the LG CX OLED. It’s a well-built entry-level OLED that can turn off pixels independently, resulting in an almost infinite contrast ratio and absolute black uniformity. This suggests that when seen in the dark, blacks look deep and inky, and there are no uniformity concerns such as backlit fading or blooming in dark scenes around light objects.
It offers amazing image consistency in which most people should be delighted. For HDR content, it has an exceptional color gamut and gets respectably bright to bring out highlights. It has outstanding out-of-the-box color accuracy, without any issues, upscales lower-resolution video, and can delete judder from all sources.
It has very wide viewing angles, but when viewed from the edge, photographs remain correct. It also has exceptional reflections handling, but it doesn’t get very hot, which is why nighttime use is recommended.
Unfortunately, it’s not resistant to permanent burn-in, like every OLED. This can only be a real concern if you are continuously viewing content, like the television, with static elements. However, if you use it for a few hours every night to watch movies or shows, it shouldn’t be a challenge. All in all, it’s filled with functionality and looks fantastic in the dark, making it the best nighttime outdoor TV we have checked for viewing.
Pros:
Infinite contrast ratio.
Wide viewing angles.
VRR support.
Displays wide color gamut.
Cons:
Risk of permanent burn-in.
Only decent HDR peak brightness.
3. Best Outdoor TV For Sports: Samsung Q90/Q90T QLED
Check the Price on Amazon
The Samsung Q90/Q90T QLED is the best outdoor TV for viewing sports we have reviewed. It is an incredibly well-designed model with small borders on both sides and an attractive center-mounted stand. It manages reflections extremely well, and being more than bright enough to fight glare, so even on sunny days, you don’t have to think about exposure. Unlike the Samsung The Terrace, a TV specially made for outdoor use, it has the ‘Ultra Viewing Angle’ layer from Samsung that significantly enhances viewing angles.
Even without causing any upscaling artifacts, it upscales lower resolution content, such as cable sports. In quick-moving scenes, it has a fast response time to provide transparent images and a Black Frame Insertion function to further enhance the quality of motion.
It has a refresh rate of 120Hz and can interpolate up to 120fps of low frame rate content to make motion look smoother. If you want to play some video games, it has very low input lag, and it has variable refresh rate support to minimize screen tearing. In addition, it has HDMI 2.1 ports, perfect for those of a Series X PS5 or Xbox.
The good news is that the internal speakers get really loud and therefore do not distort much at full volume if you don’t have dedicated speakers for outdoor use. The frequency response, though, is only okay as there is a lack of low bass to create the thumping, rumbling tone. Samsung’s Tizen OS is user-friendly, lots of applications are available, and you can scan for content using voice control. Overall, it’s an impressive TV that most individuals can be pleased with.
Pros:
Gets very bright in SDR and HDR.
Decent viewing angles.
Exceptional reflection handling.
Cons:
Vignetting and dirty screen effect.
4. Best Large Outdoor TV: Sony XBR85X950H
Check the Price on Amazon
The Sony XBR85X950H is the best available outdoor TV that we’ve checked in an 85 inch size. It is available in models of either 75 inches or 85 inches, and it has excellent overall image quality. It’s well-built, and it’s packed with Android TV, which has an outstanding choice of downloadable apps, so you won’t need to get your outdoor system from an external media device.
In Sony’s 2021 range, this is the flagship 4k model and it has the performance associated with a high-end TV. It has outstanding handling of reflection, but sunlight won’t be distracting. In both SDR and HDR, it has outstanding peak visibility, so it combats glare and pulls out highlights in HDR the way they are meant to. It comes with the ‘X-Wide Angle’ layer from Sony, which, at the expense of its comparison, slightly increases the viewing angles for a VA panel TV. Even, in order to enhance the contrast, it has a full-array local dimming feature.
Unfortunately, for gamers, it’s not perfect. It has a decent response time, but no variable refresh rate technology is enabled by it, and its input lag is not as short as other versions. Regardless, this is the best outdoor TV available in a large size that we have reviewed if you’re only planning to use it to watch shows or movies outdoors.
Pros:
Excellent SDR and HDR peak brightness.
Outstanding reflection handling.
Cons:
Mediocre viewing angles.
5. Best Budget Outdoor TV: Hisense H8G
Check the Price on Amazon
The Hisense H8G is the best outdoor TV in the budget category we have reviewed. It is a simple, affordable model that most consumers should be satisfied with. The built-in Android TV includes a lot of downloadable apps, so you won’t have to purchase an extra package to keep your outdoor setup clean.
In SDR, it has great peak visibility, adequate to fight glare. It’s not optimal to put direct sunlight on it, like any TV, but in most outdoor conditions it should work well. It has a VA screen, creates deep blacks, and it has a great local dimming option for full-array, so it’s a fine nighttime viewing option. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and for HDR content, it shows a wide color gamut, but in that mode it doesn’t get very bright.
Unfortunately, it has narrow viewing angles, so a wide seating arrangement outside is not recommended. It has strong reflective handling, but if there is bright sunlight on it, the reflections can be too distracting. Fortunately, without any complications, it upscales lower-resolution content. All and all, this is one of the better outdoor TVs that we’ve reviewed, if you’re on a budget.
Pros:
Displays deep blacks.
Great SDR peak brightness.
Incredibly low input lag.
Cons:
Narrow viewing angles.
Limiting HDR experience.
6. Best TV For Bright Settings: Vizio P Series Quantum
Check the Price on Amazon
If you want to buy a 4k TV for the outdoor watching and If you need a very bright TV for daytime and you find that the LG SM9500’s brightness isn’t enough, then I would recommend you to get the 2018 Vizio P Series Quantum.
You won’t get the same wide display angles as the LG, and you should plan to stand directly away to enjoy the best performance of the picture. On the other hand, this television can be stronger able to battle daylight than the LG. It’s wonderful to manage reflections, which can be a problem with outdoors TVs.
This TV has a smooth finish that minimizes reflection interruptions, so you don’t have to care about it too much. This TV provides an excellent value of picture and an excellent HDR experience that you will most appreciate in the dark of the night.
Pros:
Produces extremely bright HDR highlights
Low input lag for gamers
Excellent motion handling
Cons:
The image loses accuracy when viewed at an angle
7. Best Large TV: Sony XBR85X900F
Check the Price on Amazon
Sony XBR85X900F is one of the largest Tv with 85 inches wider. The features in Sony XBR85X900F excellent are more compared to the other TV’s. We can enjoy watching the movie on this TV as we feel we are in a cinema theater.
The people who like to play games and watch video games like this TV because of its outstanding performance in delivering the image as it has a very low input lag. The brightness and the contrast ratio are excellent in the daylight and deep black levels as well. The disturbance from the reflections has been reduced. The viewing angles are not much clear who does not sit in front of the TV.
Pros:
Deep and uniform blacks
Excellent motion handling
Bright HDR highlights
Cons:
Picture quality degrades at an angle
What to Look for in an Outdoor Television
Outdoor TVs are great for having fun and watching the game on your patio. Like standard indoor televisions, they can handle high humidity, intense temperatures, and salt-air without breaking. Many of them can also handle full exposure to the weather.
With that being said, there are other items to bear in mind when buying an outdoor TV, such as TV location, screen size, and brand, if you choose a smart TV, and if there is a chance of physical damage (i.e. do you have children playing where the TV is going to be?). There are also two separate types of weatherproofing to be considered: enclosures and nano-coating materials.
The enclosure is a weatherproof external cover where the television is within, which defends it from all elements and physical damage. For nano-coating, the internal elements of the TV are equipped with a proprietary conformal procedure that prevents the TV from dust, salt air, and high temperatures.
Silicone and 3 M cover are used on certain nano-coated televisions to make them fully weatherproof against all conditions, including rain and snow, although these TVs are not as resistant against physical harm as those in the enclosures.
To make your decision simpler, we selected the best outdoor televisions and based our lists on the following:
Value- The worth of an outdoor TV should not be dependent exclusively on the price. They must take into consideration the form of television, size, resolution, display quality (i.e. 2160p is better than 1080p), weatherproofing, brightness, and other features.
Placement- The placement of outdoor TV is another factor that we consider. Although all outdoor TVs are designed to be used outside and can handle humidity, salt-air, and high temperatures, others are built for maximum visibility and can manage the elements, and some are designed to be hidden only and can not be rained on. Full exposure TVs tend to be more costly, but there are more choices on where you can place them.
Features- There are several options to consider when you’re looking for an outdoor TV: quality, TV brand, brightness (some are designed for shade only), including accessories, whether a soundbar is required if it’s a Smart TV and more. When determining its value, we take into account all the features of an outdoor TV. To know more, head over to our Outdoor TV Buying Guide.
How to Choose the Best Outdoor TV
Keep in mind that outdoor TVs are distinct from indoor TVs because they have unique features that render them usable because durable in outdoor living spaces.
But, before you buy, these are the things you ‘re going to be looking for on the outdoor Screen.
Water Resistant Vs. Waterproof
Most people believe these two words are the same, but they are somewhat different. Waterproof TVs will be functional, even though they are fully immersed in water.
Water-resistant TVs can withstand being wet, so are likely to be safe with any heavy rain, but submerging them can result in long term damage.
Just use the option you think is ideally adapted to your outdoor patio. If your TV is protected by a roof or a wall, water resistance can be perfect. If it’s going to be open, we highly suggest waterproof.
[external_link offset=2]
Environment
Okay, consider the environment. Many TVs, while considered to be outdoor-specific, do not perform well in such weather or environmental conditions. Some may prescribe specific connectors to reduce corrosion or build up deposits in high humidity or salty environments.
Many TVs can only work well within a specific temperature range. If you stay in a colder climate, look for a TV with an internal heater that holds the interior of the Screen nice and dry when it’s cold and snowy.
Full Sunlight vs. Shaded vs. Partial-Shaded
Lighting is another significant factor while you’re looking for outdoor Television. Lighting can be rough on screens, so intense lighting will render it difficult to see a picture.
Outdoor TVs come with various lighting requirements to render watching them easier under a range of light levels. We recommend that you have the best outdoor TV covers to deal avoid so much sunshine.
Full day, full shade, and partial shade TVs are supposed to be installed at the required level of light. Hanging a shadow TV in the sun can make it difficult to see the picture.
Once you buy, decide just where you’re going to put your TV, so have the perfect level of light for the optimal viewing.
Size
Outdoor TVs, like indoor TVs, come in a range of sizes. Remember the room you ‘re going to have to put the Television, the size of your entertainment area, and how many people are going to watch. If your room is small, there could be a 75 “TV for your space.
Picture Quality
Look for panels that are made of anti-reflective, high-temperature glass. This mix would result in higher image quality than other options. This form of the screen would also be more robust and have a better picture quality in the sun.
To further improve the picture quality, make sure that the TV you pick has options for adjusting the display attributes such as light, color, and width.
Features
Outdoor TVs, including the features that protect them from the elements, have many of the same features as indoor TVs.
Things to remember include size, inputs and outputs, brightness, device features, smart choices, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Conclusion:
Our suggestions above are the best 4k TV that is mostly liked by the people for outdoor usage for entertainment. We have analyzed the features and functions of each product and reviewed our best for the buyers. We are here to help you to choose the best TV based on your requirements.

This is a fabulous write-up of what we were given and is where a lot of my discontent with the full s3 picture comes from.
(and fuels my growing conviction that s3 was not meant to be a final season tbh and we were left with the cobbled together scraps to jam something like a real resolution in place starting with ep 10, but that's neither here nor there)
From the Crosshair side, the obvious (to me) development was him coming around eventually on Omega's "we need the coordinates" vs "we're not going back" to actually like... want to save the rest of the clones. The fact that the final act setup was reduced to "what if season 2 finale, but this time Crosshair's here with his Imperial know-how!" was, ah. Well. Some kind of story choice.
Yeah, he was never motivated by anything besides his family, never really got the sense that his experience with Mayday shifted his superiority complex with the "Regs," and I still don't understand wtf was the point of the "right... brother?" taunt from CX-1 if either a) he wasn't going to demonstrate the same sense (or some sense) of brotherhood with the rest of the clones that Echo feels or b) CX-2 wasn't... well... Tech.
(why CX-2 (as a specific CX character and not just vaguely the concept of the CXs) does not work for me as a foil is also a different convo but)
The end of ep 7 felt meaningful after the convo with Howzer and then Howzer saving him, and went... nowhere.
(the way I thought after 7 that the Echo & Rex side of the plot was going to merge with the Hunter et al side of the plot lolohno RIP my story dreams getting slowly dashed week-by-week after that)
(And tbh the lack of development for any of them on motivation to do right by the prisoners until after Omega's again in peril is just... they're so static. the season ends up just feeling repetitive. Echo's story within the show feels like it built to nothing except making sure he's conveniently placed a couple times to know things or get things, Hunter never comes around on the assorted tense moments about doing more, it's just.)
idk it's... empty. Crosshair's got all the guilt, I belong in here, it's what I deserve, which could suggest that he fully acknowledges the things he did under the Empire were wrong and not just that he regrets what it's cost him or what he did specifically against his squad but it's all reduced to "I've made mistakes" and no further discussion and the lack of any elaboration on that convo from either him or Hunter and his "regrets" honestly really makes everything about season 1 and its stalemate resolution fall fucking flat to me.
All of that bitching (sorry) to say - yeah maybe Crosshair's arc is believable and narrower in redemption/reconciliation scope than we might have anticipated.
...but I remain skeptical it was all we were meant to get.
All I'll say about Emerie is I can't believe that all the emphasis on there being no escape/safer in here/etc didn't lead to some demonstration that Crosshair and Omega successfully escaping started cracking apart her whole perception of her circumstances/whatever reality she's been fed.
Because if I say more it'll turn into a really obnoxious rant lol.
Hot take:
Crosshair does not have the Imperial disillusionment and redemption arc of The Bad Batch
Emerie does.
Crosshair has an arc for sure yes but it's not that.
I was thinking about this scene:
and how it got right what this scene kinda didn't:
(It was so close but then bad writing decided to undercut the moment with a joke rip)
And I think it's really interesting that these characters who were more or less raised into the Empire/First Order and chose to leave it are all directly asked why.
But take a look at Crosshair's answers in comparison:
Different context for the asking, yes, but still, compare that to clones like Howzer, Cody, Slip and Cade who left or turned against the Empire because they knew what the Empire is doing is wrong and they weren't just going to blindly follow orders:
Crosshair - Loyalty, Purpose, and Survival
Crosshair didn't choose to join the Empire (though the show isn't very clear or consistent about how much control the inhibitor chips have) but he did, for whatever reason, choose to stay. By the end of S1 we know his chip has been removed and as he definitively says "This is who I am." There were likely still other influences on his decision, but listen to how he talks about the Empire in the S1 finale:
Hunter: Crosshair, I've seen what the Empire is doing. Occupying planets and silencing anyone who stands against them. You know it's not right. Crosshair: You still don’t see the bigger picture, but you will. Hunter: Can't you see they're using you?
Crosshair: We’re not like the regs, we never have been. We’re superior. The Empire can’t protect the galaxy without strength, this is what we were made for. Think of all we could do, together!
Crosshair: You all are meant for more than drifting through the galaxy. It’s time to stop running. Join the Empire, and you will have purpose again.
Hunter: They destroyed an entire city! Crosshair: They did what needed to be done. Kamino, regs, the Republic, that time is over. The Empire will control the entire galaxy, and I am going to be a part of it. Hunter: Don't fool yourself. All you'll ever be to them is a number.
He undeniably knows what the Empire is doing, but he does not care. In fact it sure sounds like he actually supports it and finds self-meaning in it. Hunter spends those episodes trying to convince him it's wrong, he doesn't change his mind. In the end they offer him an out and he doesn't take it.
Wrecker: You coming with us? Crosshair: None of this changes anything. Hunter: You offered us a chance, Crosshair. This is yours. Crosshair: I made my decision.
The next we see Crosshair in "The Solitary Clone" (S2:E3) he follows orders and shoots the Desix governor, right after Cody heartbreakingly tries to do what's right and find a peaceful solution.
Cody: Tell me something, Crosshair. This new Empire, are we making the galaxy better? Crosshair: We’re soldiers, we do what needs to be done. Cody: You know what makes us different from battle droids? We make our own decisions, our own choices. And we have to live with them too.
After this (glorious!) conversation, Crosshair stays. Maybe this began to seed some doubts, but he actually smiles a few scenes later when Rampart assigns him another mission. It seems like for him it truly is as he said in S1:E1 (chip not enhanced yet but still influencing him enough for his brothers to notice he's acting strange):
Crosshair: Republic, Empire... what's the difference.
Crosshair: Orders are orders.
This unethical mission that finally pushed Cody over the edge does not change Crosshair's mind about the Empire, at least not enough for him to take action.
But what does?
Mayday: And here we are, the survivors. Combat troopers stuck babysitting cargo shipments. Crosshair: Mission’s a mission. Mayday: Yeah, I used to say the same thing.
Mayday: After all the clones have done, all we’ve sacrificed. We’re good soldiers, we followed orders. And for what?
This mission has nothing to do with how the fascist Empire treats the galaxy, it's about how they treat their soldiers. It's about how Mayday loyally fought and served his whole life and Lieutenant Nolan let him die
Lt Nolan: He served his purpose as a soldier of the Empire. Crosshair: You could have saved him! Lt Nolan: Perhaps you didn’t hear me, he is expendable, as are you.
Crosshair thought he could find purpose within the Empire, and Nolan shows him exactly what that will be.
His turning point is accompanied with this powerful visual of the ice vulture, a symbol (and threat) of death, and also set up within the episode a symbol of survival:
Mayday: Vicious creatures, but you have to admire ‘em. They find a way to survive.
This critical moment (that gives me chills, oof this episode is a masterpiece!) comes right after Nolan calls him expendable and directly threatens him:
Lt Nolan: And if you speak to me again with such disrespect I'll see to it you meet a similar fate, clone.
then Crosshair sees the vulture's shadow and turns to Mayday's dead body (ahh visual storytelling my beloved) then makes his decision:
Crosshair turns against the Empire not because he believes Hunter was right about this:
Hunter: I've seen what the Empire is doing ... You know it's not right.
but because he was right about this:
Hunter: All you'll ever be to them is a number.
Redemption (both in fiction and irl in my humble opinion) comes with making amends and reparations (which is why death 'redemptions' bother me so much but that's a rant for another time). Unlike Emerie, Crosshair never explicitly denounces the Empire or his own actions within it. He never says anything to specifically show if and how his views have changed from what he said on Kamino. He makes amends with his family (sending the warning message, helping Omega escape, making up with Hunter) but that's about it. The most we get in terms of acknowledgement is this:
Crosshair: I thought I knew what I was getting into with the Empire. I thought I was being a good soldier. Hunter: Nobody really understood what was happening back then. Crosshair: I’ve... done things. I’ve made mistakes. Hunter: I have regrets too, Crosshair. All we can do is keep trying to be better, and who knows there just might be hope for us yet.
Which is nice and all but it's more about them making up as brothers so it's way too excusing tbh ("no one knew what was happening back then" ummm? "The Empire will control the entire galaxy, and I am going to be a part of it" remember? And even if at first Crosshair was being controlled by the chip, the fact that he chose to stay after it was removed* means he condones and is therefore still accountable for those actions).
There's also a bit of self-destructive guilt:
Crosshair: Omega, don't risk anything for me. I belong in here.
Crosshair: Omega needs you both. So I’m doing this alone, it’s what I deserve. Hunter: Don’t even think about plan 99, Crosshair. Omega needs all of us.
(which thank you Hunter for pushing back on the death redemption bs and oh look is that a wrap up for the purpose thing?)
But there's no action taken on his part to make up for what he's done or to stand against the Empire (aside from the bare minimum of help with Tantiss, only after it became personally relevant, which like yeah he had trauma to deal with but still).
While I do think the implications/follow-up of Crosshair's turn should have been handled better in S3 (like rip Howzer! he deserved an apology, but that's a rant for another time), I don't necessarily** think this arc is a bad writing choice. It's just saying different things than we expect:
Maybe Crosshair's story is not about standing up against an unjust system, like we see with many other characters (who deserved more screen time but that's a rant for another timeeee). Maybe his story is about how even those who are loyal to the Empire, who actually believe in it, still suffer under and within it's rule. Not to garner sympathy, but to show that there is no winning.
Crosshair has another 'so what changed' convo in S3:E14 with Rampart, in which they draw parallels to each other:
Rampart: You used to believe good soldiers followed orders. Crosshair: Depends on who's giving them. The Empire betrayed us both. Rampart: And you think you can fight them? That's not you. You're like me, loyal to no one but yourself. Crosshair: I've changed.
(note how he says who's giving the orders, not what the orders are)
"Loyal to no one but yourself" describes Rampart much more than Crosshair, since we often saw Crosshair pride himself as a loyal soldier of the Empire whereas we saw Rampart abuse power to be self-serving within the Empire (like when he killed Wilco to save face). But they were both betrayed either way. Vice Admiral Rampart, snively Imperial opportunist through-and-through, shouts "I was following orders!" as he is arrested for the Empire's purposes.
Even Hemlock, the final boss immoral Imperial scientist, who has to be benefiting the most from this system, echoes the expendability idea:
Hemlock: What I am working on is beyond your understanding. Something so vital to the Empire it makes me indispensable.
Then there's CX-2, also set up as a parallel/foil to Crosshair (fight me), who in the end is discarded as no more than a weapon, a tool that served it's purpose, showing us what would have become of Crosshair if he had stayed.
There is no winning in the Empire. Loyalty is not rewarded, it "doesn't go both ways." Everyone has to fight for their value. Even high ranking individuals** who for a time benefit from the injustice, in the end are just pawns to be used up and cast aside at a whim for the Emperor's gain. Even people who are motivated by self-interest alone cannot survive within this system, the only viable option in this galaxy is to fight the Empire and dismantle that system. (unless you conveniently find a magically safe island to hide away on but that's a rAnT fOr AnOtHeR tImE)
Which brings us back to...
Emerie - Cooperation, Compassion, and Choice
(Okay this post has already gotten away from me but I still want to talk about her to show the contrasts.)
Emerie may not have been given a lot of screen time to really flesh out her development, but there is a lot that is pretty clearly implied with her:
Crosshair: They’ll never turn her [Omega] over. Hemlock: They don’t have a choice. She is a clone, and therefore Imperial property. *Camera cuts to an angle more centered on Emerie’s face*
Crosshair: Give me your access card! Emerie: It won’t get you outside!
Emerie: I tried to warn him what would happen if he did not cooperate with the Doctor.
Emerie: Prisoner? Omega, you are no such thing. It will take time to adjust, but you will acclimate. It is far safer in here than out there.
Emerie: You should go back to your room. Crosshair: You mean her cell?
Emerie: Why children? Hemlock: Children are easier to attain and more agreeable to the subjugations. They are unaware of why they are here and what they possess.
Emerie: They're children. Like I was... Was your plan to discard them too? Nala Se: The Empire will keep them in order to control them.
We don't know a lot about Emerie's background, but it's clear that she had a lot less choice than Crosshair and less opportunity or ability to leave. Unlike Crosshair, we never directly hear Emerie's views of the Empire (and she was most likely 'taken under Hemlock's wing' before the Empire even came to power), but lets look at how she talks about the Tantiss:
"Remain calm. Cooperate and you might survive."
"Don't make this worse, Crosshair! There is no escape!"
"All of us serve a purpose here."
"The Doctor will inform me, if it's necessary."
"It's best not to ask questions."
"Escape is not possible, Omega. This is for your own good."
She honestly does the best she can within the system she is also trapped in. She tries to help Crosshair, Omega, and the vault kids in the only way she knows how (warns Crosshair about the hounds and security, tries to protect Omega from Hemlock, tells Scorch his "actions were extreme" with Jax, insists on overseeing Bayrn's retrieval, double checks his m-count (to give him an out), and tries to find out where he came from). When she gives Omega, and later Eva, the doll, I think it shows just how little she really is able to do here (and it's kinda heartbreaking imo).
The framing of this shot especially (after Jax's escape attempt) visually shows how Emerie herself is trapped/imprisoned:
Despite the fact that very little of this is Emerie's fault, she has very little power and she is doing all she can, the narrative does not excuse her role in the Empire:
Nala Se: What will you do, Emerie? Emerie: There is nothing I can do. I don't have that kind of power. Nala Se: Don't you?
Emerie: I- I was doing my job. Echo: Yeah, I’ve heard that before. You’re a clone. How can you be part of this?
These fighting-the-Bystander-Effect conversations parallel these exchanges:
Hunter: We made a choice, and so did you. Crosshair: Soldiers follow orders. Hunter: Blind allegiance makes you a pawn.
Crosshair: We’re soldiers, we do what needs to be done. Cody: You know what makes us different from battle droids? We make our own decisions, our own choices. And we have to live with them too.
which did not change Crosshair's mind. And honestly, all respect to Echo's disappointed mom glare™ but I think it's clear Emerie had already made her decision, she just needed help to actually be able to do anything about it. When she stopped Echo, with her voice wavering on the verge of tears (ahhh v good voice acting), she clearly had no intention of turning him in. She's on her own in the Empire's most secure facility with very little resources, if she had tried anything on her own she most likely would have failed and been killed
Omega: Emerie, you don't have to do this. Emerie: (sigh) I’m sorry, but I do.
but as soon as she is enabled by an ally, she immediately turns around to help: giving information and getting Echo through security, helping the kids escape, and giving Omega the tablet that allows them to free the other clone prisoners.
Where Crosshair's turn is accompanied by the symbolic imagery of the ice vulture, Emerie's is the removal of her (literally rose-tinted!) glasses:
Symbolizing how she has shed her previous views/indoctrination that altered her perception of the Empire and blinded her to it's wrongs. It's disillusionment.
Emerie's story shows us that even those who are raised and indoctrinated into this system can, should, and will escape (with needed help). Even those who did not choose to be apart of the Empire and are not making the decisions still have the responsibility and ability to act on what they know is right.
Emerie, whose name means 'Home strength' 'Brave' and 'Powerful', and "reflects the importance of leadership and authority in the workplace".***
While Emerie is only in one more scene after her turn, so the wrap up is a bit rushed, she still very simply does what Crosshair does not:
Emerie: Because I was wrong about this place. And I'm trying to do the right thing.
Echo: I’m sure Senator Chuchi would find what you have to say very helpful for our cause. Emerie: I have a lot to make up for. I’d like to help out however I can.
She admits wrong, takes accountability, commits to making amends, and leaves with Echo to go take on the Empire (which hopefully we will get to actually see more of some day).
So, in short, she's showing us how redemption is done right!
---
Notes:
*Whether this writing choice was good/logical/in-character or not is another discussion entirely, but I'm going off of what we were given, what the show is presenting in the canon text and (reasonably inferred/intentional) subtext. Crosshair is pretty multifaceted and I could only touch on so much here. There's a lot of ways to interpret his character/choices, but I tried to avoid the realm of speculation or fanon explanations (even if they sometimes make more sense lol).
**History and political theory are not my area of expertise at all, so I have NO idea how well this aligns with real-world fascism stuff and therefore what implications this storytelling choice could have. I think the message of like 'if you think you could survive or gain power by doing what the Empire/fascist system wants you are wrong' could be good (like how everyone is actually harmed by the patriarchy type of a thing), but I hesitate bc maybe there are those who would benefit, since it's a hierarchal system, right? If anyone more knowledgeable than me has incite to share, by all means
Either way, I do think it works in-story and in-universe though. It's just in the execution. The main problem (even from a strictly theme/character arc stand point) is the lacking follow-up/consequences for Crosshair in S3. Like you gave your character accountability by removing the chip and I think that's great setup for an arc but you gotta follow through with that and actually hold him accountable!
***I'm always curious when clones have 'normal' names, like why did they chose the name Emerie of all things? So I looked it up. Idk how reliable sources are for name meanings so take it with a grain of salt but it's still fun. Fits pretty well, and clones names have definitely had significant meanings in the past (like how Rex and Jesse both mean 'king') so I'm pretty sure it was intentional.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my tedtalk

Pros: Lightweight Rolls smoothly Spacious Cons: Lacks compartments The handle feels flimsy Easily scratched View Price and Deals How To Choose The Best Carry On Luggage: the Ultimate buying guide If you’re going to be traveling light, then you need to find a carry on luggage that will be able to transport all of your stuff, fit in the plane’s overhead compartment, and roll around easily as you go from point A to point B. While it may seem to be an easy thing to look for, with so many products to choose from, it’ll be a lot easier to choose the wrong carry on. So, what does one really look for in a good carry on? Let’s get down to features. What are its Dimensions? Before you can even consider how much stuff your potential carry on can carry, you need to make sure that it’ll pass whatever eyeball estimate, measuring tape, or cage the airline uses to determine whether you carry or you check it. Most American carriers have maximum dimensions set at 22″ x 14″ x 9″. However, these standards do change so make sure that you check the airline’s website before you click on that buy button. Also, keep in mind that you need to make sure these dimensions stay the same when your bag is packed to the brim. Some carry ons like the Briggs & Riley Baseline International are expandable but its compression system allows you to bring it down to the airline’s standard dimensions. Two Wheels or Four? Now, this is a matter of preference. Some people believe that rollaboard luggage (two wheels) such as the Travelpro Platinum Magna 2 is much sturdier, less prone to wheel damage. While this may be true, having only two wheels means you can only pull your luggage behind you. Four-wheeled carry ons like the Kenneth Cole Reaction Out of Bounds 4 are more maneuverable because the wheels turn 360 degrees. You can easily navigate it in tight spaces such as an aisle on a plane plus you can choose to pull it, push it, or wheel it beside you as you stroll along the airport or wherever it is you’re going. What’s the Handle Like? Not all humans are created equal. Some are taller than others. What this means is, you need to make sure that the telescoping handle adjusts to a height where you are comfortable holding it without having to bend down at an awkward angle. Similar to our number one pick, the Tumi Alpha 2 Continental Expandable 4 Wheel Carry-On has 3 stops which will fit different people of varying heights. How Much Can it Carry? The design of a carry on can limit the amount of space available in the main compartment. While most carry-ons have the same external dimensions, not all of them have the same internal volume. Some carry-ons such as the Olympia Luggage 22″ 8 Pocket Rolling Duffel Bag and the A. Saks EXPANDABLE 20 Rolling Trolley Duffel offer quite a lot of space but lacks organization inside the bag. Others like the Delsey Luggage Helium Aero can fit fewer clothes but it does have a front pocket with a padded sleeve for your laptop and other computer accessories. The Samsonite Luggage Winfield 2 Fashion HS Spinner 20, for example, can fit 4-5 days’ worth of clothes and features organizational pockets on the divider for additional storage. Of course, you’d have to consider where the handle’s rails are located and how big a handle the carry on has because it also takes up valuable real estate inside your luggage. How Much Does It Weigh? We already know that the bag will be a bit heavy with all the stuff you’ll be cramming in. But does the carry on itself contribute to how heavy your load will be? A lot of our picks are lightweight such as the Travelpro Crew 10 22 Inch Expandable Rollaboard Suiter which means that you can easily lift it to an overhead compartment or over a puddle (or something similar) without breaking your back. According to the experts, a good carry on should weigh no more than 7.5lbs. Of course, there are other features you also might want to look at such as front pocket big enough for travel documents, another exterior pocket for liquids for easy access during TSA inspections, and a secondary bag attachment. And then there’s the price. Keep in mind that quality and price do not always go hand in hand. Some of our picks cost less than $100 while others are worth around $500. Thankfully, there are a number of really good carry-ons offered in a range of prices that will fit any budget. Now that you know how to pick the best carry on luggage, what are you waiting for? You’ve got a flight to catch! The post Best Carry On Luggage You Should Buy For Your Next Trip appeared first on A Web Not to Miss. #Travel&Leisure #Featured #Best

17 Insanely Cool New Luxury Bicycles for Spring
Every the guy is aware of that sport is on associate degree unstoppable rise here within the U.S. Right now, the amount of simple machine commuters is up a walloping sixty p.c over the last decade, and, in several bike-happy locales, long rides ar with success displacement golf outings because of the new diversion of preference among dealmakers. however, if you are looking to affix the sporting elite, you are going to want a way cooler set of wheels than that recent 1980s-era Huffy lying in your garage.
From ultra-flashy designer models to ultra-high-end, superior ones which will get you a ticket, here are the most effective new luxury rides for spring. And yes, they are high-ticket. however, consider them just like the Jaegar-LeCoultres of cycling: you are not simply shopping for them for yourself—you're conjointly holding onto them for a successive generation. And if you are within the marketplace for alternative wildly cool luxury items—such as a classic automobile, an Equus caballus, even a non-public island—here's our complete guide to purchasing something.
Meet the enduring Yankee bikemaker's starship of a "superbike," associate degree ultra-light beauty you'll be able to purchase (for a restricted time) in head-turning, Dodge serpent red. Put simply, this beast is all aeromechanics, speed, and potency. If you are biking with your boss, strive to not leave him within the dirt.
As sleek as a panther and light-weight as a Felis domesticus, this bike from Bastion on the face of it defies physics. Considering that complete models weigh in as low as fourteen pounds, 2 queries come back to mind. (How? And: once am I able to ride one?) If you are patient, though, we propose waiting till June, once their updated model, the CX, comes out.
Inspired by the motorcycles of the first twentieth century, Lord Bike's creation is each a beauty and a beast. Despite spirited curves and spirited color choices, a rear-mounted motor ensures this factor will high forty mph. Zoom, zoom.
You can't get it wrong with a classic. Back in 1962, Moulton came out with the first-ever "small wheel" bicycle. Ever since they have been purification. And purification. Until now, finally, perfection: the sturdiest, most snug commuter bike the corporate has ever designed.
Meet the most effective damn cycle bike on the market. better of all: its battery-powered, therefore you associate degreed your lady pal will have an extra-breezy ride.
For the speed demons and road racers out there, this one's for you. By treating wind and flow as assets rather than obstacles, the engineers at Cicli Matteo have created associate degree mechanics bike that's nearly proof against turbulence. simply do not expect to prevent on a dime.
Montante has been creating bicycles for nearly a century. And this model, above all, looks raised straight from the fundamental quantity once the corporate was supported. Complete with a stand and twin Pineider baggage, it is the good ride for selling from restaurant to restaurant during an active European metropolis—like, say, Milan.
When you are going on a picnic, tick off everything on your searching list: cheese, crackers, caviar, wine, and a motorcycle (equipped with a picnic basket) that prices the maximum amount as a BMW. Moynat's basket is sure in luxurious animal skin and comes with a group of tableware, napkins, and homemade bicycles from the masters at Abici Italy.
The tiny bike trend was presupposed to be a trend. however, Lios has breathed new life into the trend, by making associate degree esthetically pleasing iteration, while not sacrificing any strength or practicality. As a bonus, it will be doubled in seconds and carried around, sort of a case. Or, given the worth tag, a baby.
Every bike created by Cicli Art workplace is hand made and –decorated. each could be a distinctive piece of art. This style with great care happens to be supported by a manuscript from the sixteenth century, a few men you will have detected of engineer da Vinci.
This wonderful monstrosity sacrifices everything—elegance, whimsy, precision, meticulous style—associated with trendy bicycle design within the name of 1 thing: pure, raw power. B2G Bikes put in a five,000-watt the engine on the Red RSR and once pushed to the goop, the bike will hit speeds of nearly fifty mph. Wear a helmet, please.
Stromer has created the maybe most digitally integrated bicycle on the market. The ST2 syncs up along with your smartphone to supply GPS trailing, remote standardization capabilities, and even thievery protection: if somebody tries to require your bike, it'll power down, and become nearly not possible to pedal. Then the GPS trailing kicks in, and points you right to the felon.
You can 3D-print something of late, even a bullet. Or one thing as quick as a bullet. It takes 3 months for associate degree order from Métier Vélo to be completed—because it's high-ticket and long to 3D-print atomic number 22. however once the ready-to-race beast lands on your step, you may cowl a lot of ground in 3 weeks than you probably could've within the intervening months.
Lorenzo Petrini has dedicated forty years to dreaming of and conceptualizing his good bike. The result, Stella, is spectacularly straightforward and complex, elegant wherever it might be unpolished, delicate wherever it might be loud, and wonderfully creative wherever it might be something, however.
