Thoughts on Becky x Scoops? It's not a very popular woodview characters ship, but I like it more than ToBecky and Sciolet.

Honestly...I like it!

My opinions on them have changed so much over the years, but I think it's an underrated pairing/dynamic. Not only is Becky's shenanigans on her one-sided crush kinda fun to see because it makes her so charming in how she has such an almost girl failure energy, but also it's supposed to be a subversive on them being the Louis Lane and Clark Kent of the pair. Scoop's crush on Violet is basically the 'what if' scenario of Louis fawning over Jimmy Olsen instead, lol.

Other than that, I think it has some promise to be a hilarious ship. Mostly for the idea of Becky getting over her crush, and then Scoops develops one on her, but it feels too late. They would have some problems (Scoops not realizing Becky would want a more romantic partner while he's more chill with affection or their professional egos clashing), and I can smell the potential drama if you mix in Violet/Tobey/Victoria on either side. I guess I like them together more than I would because the later seasons did a lot to make their friendship fun to watch (aka The tooth hurts), and so shipping them isn't hard too think about. I'm just a sucker for one-sided crushes, technically not being one-sided if the other person wasn't just an oblivious idiot.

Overall, I think my favorite dynamic for them to have is them being very good friends, as Becky's moved on yet cares deeply for him. While Scoops starts to pine for her secretly but knows it's too late, he keeps it inside painfully as maybe she was the one who got away.

So, sidenote on my history with the Vampires of Interview fame.

When I was a kid, my mom was really into these books and every birthday and every christmas I would get her either an Anne Rice book or a Stephen King book. So I kind of grew up around them, and obviously there's the movie, which I love.

Now I never looked too deeply into it, but a few years ago, after hearing that the series was finally DONE done, I googled it to see how it ended and it was like...

...book spoilers alert...

Okay, it was like "Lestat and Louis basically get married and rule the vampires together."

So, okay my reaction was, "oh thank God." Because even knowing as little as I knew about this series, even going back to when I was a kid, I was just convinced that those two were clearly meant for each other and for some reason I found that I was way more invested in those two ending up together than I'd realized considering I'd never read the books.

Anyway for some reason I never got around to watching it until recently, I guess because I never watch anything - I'm pretty sure it was literally the first new series I've finished in like 10 years. I just dont watch tv at all.

And as I'm watching it, I'm like, what the hell is going on here, I have never encountered a whole piece of media that appeared to be so custom built for my specific tastes.

Berserk is still my favorite thing in the world, of course, I don't see that changing anytime before I shuffle off this mortal coil. However, that's because I love that world and the cosmology and how weighty and complicated and full of Themes And Stuff it is, it's not really because I like Guts and Griffith together.

But there's like, a difference between the canons I typically enjoy as a reader/viewer and the fan stuff that I typically look to/create, right? The fanstuff tends to be way more relationship-centric and mired in interpersonal drama than the series themselves.

But IWTV was like the relationship-drama stories that I read or write in fannish spaces, but it was just RIGHT THERE ON THE TV. It was a genuinely surreal experience and to this day I'm in a bit of disbelief that it exists. There are a few things I wish had been done differently but nothing that has been able to make me enjoy it less.

Also this isn't to say that I'm boiling the show down to romance drama. More just that its proportion of interpersonal stuff to plot is very similar to the kind of fanmaterial I prefer - my fanstuff is generally fairly plotty too.

I've started reading the books since then (well interchangeably reading and audible-ing) - this is really the source of my "man, I wish'd they'd done this differently" feelings. And they are quite different but still oddly in my lane.

ETA: Also I told my mother about the Lestat-and-Louis ending - she didn't realize that last trilogy existed - and she said, "Good. They're adorable, they act like teenagers together."

I saw the new Inside Out 2 trailer, and they made Anxiety, Ennui, Embarrassment, and Envy bad by betraying the old emotions. Lots of crazy stuff is about to happen! We don't know what's going on, lots of details are there too. But what would the ElseWorld version be like?

CLOTHING CHANGES!

Fear is now wearing the same vest but it's gray and black with the same stripes on it, Disgust now wears a pink/purple dress (just like the old concepts of her from the 1st movie), and Anger wears a black button on shirt with a red tie with gold marks. Joy and Sadness still stay the same.

NEW EMOTIONS!

For my idea. I have 6 new emotions, one of my OC emotions I've created like, Courage, Surprise, Pride, Trust, Frustration, and Shy.

MAIN VILLAIN

I am using on of my oc villains, Spite, to be the main villain of the AU second movie.

OTHER CHARACTERS

Characters like Nia, the assistant of Spite, she runs the business with him but she tries to avoid him to help others. Bud, Courage's blood cell buddy, he doesn't speak but he's sweet, nervous, cute and got some attitude. And Brain, the big boss of Riley's mind, and the emotions need his help to stop Spite.

What New Places Would the Emotions Go To?

In this AU, far from HQ and Long Term Memory, instead of the back of the mind being empty, there is a huge mind-filled city called Mindtopia, aka, The City of Riley, where everything in the mind has everybody for Riley's Inner Workings in her mind. That also includes Headquarters. And guess what, they're not the only company, there's also banks, council buildings, restaurants, malls, houses, apartments, and everything for Mind Workers after they work at Long Term Memory. And The Mind Councilman, Chairman, is the Mind Prime Minister.

Why?

I mean they always are kind of a nuisance, I guess they’ve been better recently, but liiiiiikeee… this whole harry styles lookalike thing is first of all, very strange, and second of all, now is absolutely not the time to be pulling this shit. they don’t consider that Harry cares and loves the 1d boys, that he himself is also grieving - they think he’s above them and would never support or be friends with liam etc., and it just shows how delusional they truly are.

also, there is an abundance of ageism in that fandom. particularly very young fans acting like anyone over the age of 25 is weird for liking him, and also acting like they’re better than the 1d fans and everyone who liked him before his solo stuff. it’s so yikes and embarrassing and awful and does not make a fandom a community or comforting place.

and when that kind of behaviour happens, it’s retaliated. you get the arguments of people who were teens during 1d and grew up with them, saying “well hey, fuck you, you don’t know what you’re talking about because you’re a child and you weren’t there so how dare you” which… then in turn divides the fandom further because there are newer fans who aren’t solos but also didn’t grow up with 1d so it’s just a shit show and an argument that these hairballs keep using. it’s disgusting. music is for everyone.

not to mention they always talk shit about louis. and niall. and 1d in general. and larries. and hypersexualise harry. and that they believe sweet creature is about Gemma.

I think harry is very smart in taking time off over the last little while. not only to rest and work on his music and spend time with family, but there will be a lot of casual fans who’ve stopped waiting in line for the roller coaster, and have jumped on the next ride. don’t get me wrong, he’ll still pack out stadiums, but a lot of people will be focusing on a more active artist now which HOPEFULLY removes some of the awful folks in that fandom. hopefully he can have a tiny bit more normalcy.

I think about Zayn’s actions the same way I think about Louis’: that they don’t think about Harry at all. Zayn goes about his own business and lives his own life. Unless someone asks about Harry, Zayn doesn’t talk about him. It’s not even a matter of staying in his own lane. Zayn doesn’t think about him, period; their careers have been on separate tracks for a whole decade.

Zayn isn’t responsible for desperate people trying to connect them.

Despite media training, Louis looks visibly annoyed when asked about Harry, but never looks that way when talking about One Direction.

They’ve all been thinking and doing and strategizing their own careers for so long that old bandmates are kind of like school friends from long ago. Sometimes you’re reminded of them when you see a headline about them. Otherwise, they’re just colleagues in the same business, also trying their best.

Harry— with strong ties to the “fixers” in the industry— is supported by the same people Zayn despises. Insert all the valid criticisms of the Grammys. Zayn’s politics are also 180 from Harry’s. Fans who think they are secret friends are like the same idiot MAGA supporters who vote against their own self interests because they deny the obvious.

People love the smooth artifice and fake glitz of pop music, but these are real people. Zayn shows us that he’s a real person. He interviews like a normal, real person. I don’t think Zayn can even interview like the fake persona that Sony tried to make him. Zayn is arrogant, egoistic, quick to anger, sentimental, proud, courageous, honest, and sometimes very literal. Zayn was hurt and anxious for much of a decade, but finally has chosen to do a public career his way.

Harry, despite all that he does to hide away, is also a real person, and the reality comes through no matter what. No matter the “sweetheart” and “cupcake” and “generous kind winner” persona that his PR team has sent out into the world, the Harry who craves a spotlight, who is remarkably thin-skinned and impulsive, whose need for attention outweighs his empathy or loyalty, comes through. Those who take note will see it.

But, as his mum would point out, that was the same stubborn attitude that got him here: in his car, in a thunderstorm, on the side of a forsaken lane of some little countryside town in Yorkshire. His mobile's got no signal, his GPS isn't working, and he's running low on petrol, so he can't even use the heater.

Oh, and most importantly, his car is stuck in the mud, so even if the GPS was working and he knew where to go, he wouldn’t be able to.

He's been in stickier spots; he reminds himself. Way stickier. This is just a bit of rain; it'll blow over. Then Harry will just... well, alright, he isn't entirely sure what to do when the rain stops because he'll still be stuck and lost. But, hey, there won't be any rain, which is something to cheer about.

Louis Rossman has a lot of good things to say but he also put on a pretty silly clown performance when he did an entire video whining about fighting games selling DLC. He purchased the cheapest option available for SF5, I think he paid like $5 or $10 for it, and was mad that it didn't include all the characters that were added to the game after launch. Then he tried to say that fighting games, of all things, had a better and more consumer-friendly business model before DLC.

Really soured my opinion on him to see him speaking so authoritatively about something he was very obviously clueless about.

Aw, I guess I missed that one. Can't be perfect I guess :/ I don't think this dismisses his advocacy on other subjects, but damn dude, stay in your lane ^^;

Harry Styles - Keep Driving // interpretation, analysis, meaning

I’ve had the thoughts for keep driving in my head for more than a year now but never cared to sort them properly.  

There are already great threads that interpret the verses and link them to pictures and occurrences, so I will attach them and only write what I think in addition to that. 

While I couldn’t find any reference where he said so himself, it is widely believed, that this song is inspired by his road trip to Italy in summer 2020 with „a friend“. He recorded the song afterwards in August 2020.

I see the whole song divided in different facets of Hs life. In general it is about his longterm and domestic relationship (with Louis💙 (hi, I´m a Larrie 👋))(So close this if you’re not in my lane), but each part is about a different factor that affects this relationship throughout time.

For me the first verse mirrors the beginning of their relationship, the falling in love stage. They enjoy their love and life in the band, they do fun stuff. The verse is about them only. 

I know that H used to publish a lot of bw pics on IG and liked photography so I guess it was an artistic choice. Nevertheless the black and white film camera could also already refer to the start of closeting, thus to a love he needed to hide. This would be fitting here bc it’s the very first line, setting the background info for the whole song. His public life needs to be black and white, the colors in between are not allowed 🌈. 

Chorus  A small concern with how the engine sounds  We held darkness in withheld clouds  I would ask, "Should we just keep driving?" 

The chorus shows that there are obstacles they need to overcome, starting already in early stages of their relationship. The engine being a metaphor for their relationship affected by music industry or the music industry itself (closeting, stunting). 

The darkness sounds like a reference to closeting. The withheld clouds in this sentence might refer to them not being granted to be „on cloud 9“, to feel happy about their love.

To be honest the darkness and withheld clouds line gives me a headache interpretational wise 😅 but here is an interpretation I found on genius that I relate to.

For me this is the part showing how work influences their relationship.  

THIS is the "small concern with how the engine sounds“. 

Constant traveling (passport in footwells), 

Work dinners or nights stayed in (wine glass; reference to grapejuice and walls „smoke something, drink something“), 

Sharing joints (puff pass; reference to High in California, 1D chicken in chile), 

working on music videos (tea with cyborgs and science; drag me down, NASA) and 

how their life is being analyzed in social media (lifehacks going viral in bathrooms; oops hi in bathroom and every single move they do).  

It also contains their closeting via the lines „kiss her and don’t tells“ and „riot America“ (bc their closeting began in full force when they were to enter the American market, and they surely were fighting against it. Also their worst stunts happen(ed) in America and through their other song lyrics one can see that it’s a place they don’t feel comfortable in). 

Kiss HER and don’t tells could literally mean kissing a stunt woman and not telling the truth about his real partner. But it could also be seen as this user on genius wrote, the „her“ actually being a „him“ 

Another interpretation of the riot America line.  

„Science and edibles“ for me also refers to MFASR lyrics which are about toxic music industry. It compares to science to see through all the PR and intertwined relations regarding the business. But it also refers to fan behavior „if the stars were edible, and our hearts were never full, could we live with just a taste?“. If you see „stars“ as celebrities in this, it gets a deeper meaning. There are fans, that always want more. One meet and greet is not enough, they want to be part of their private life. In worst case they become stalkers.

This is the peak of the song and shows the „worst engine sounds“. 

The vibe is more negative in the first part and further describes the happenings in work and private life.  

Industry events (cocaine, side boobs; women/stunts wearing revealing dresses, also Hs own physique which is always a topic in media) 

(Mentally) Painful experiences (Toothache; metaphor for serious pain; note: I saw posts relating this to L. But L only got his wisdom teeth removed in 2021 after the song has been recorded, See HSH timeline above) 

The „bad move“ could be anything really 🤷🏼‍♀️  

The „choke her“ is a repetitive metaphor within HSH songs. There are at least 2 more (unreleased) songs using it, too (too much sauce and make my day). 

It could also be a „choker“.  

For me this line means the industry makes him feel like he’s wearing a choker (heavy restrictions, closeting) while offering him a sea view (career and its perks). 

Other thoughts on the seaview: 

The second part of the bridge goes back to only them again. They need to just act normal. Not showing how they are affected by those negative vibes.  

The „mocha pot Monday“ for me means, after all, they are off to a new start of their everyday life with all it‘s obstacles. Not appreciating them but accepting them for now. Like everyone else beginning the new work week with a cup of strong coffee to face what the week may bring. 

The urgency in the music calms down again. H reassuring his partner by saying „It’s all good“ and asking yet again- this time addressing it directly and not only theoretically: „hey you! Should we just keep driving?“ - Are we in this together? Are we a team? Do we keep on fighting? Is it worth it? 

Outro  Should we just keep driving?  Ooh-ooh, ooh  Should we just keep driving? 

Considered the Larry-coding 💚💙 that continued after HSH until now I guess the answer was „yes“ 😉

I'm the same anon as before and you're so right!!! I don't have a normal 9-5 so my hours are whatever I want so 🤷‍♀️ and just because of that my weeks looks incredible different to the ones of my friends, I will be doing the most random things at the most random times and I Can't imagine what my life would look like if in addition to the time I had access to the same kind of money they have.

I also think some fans don't want to seem crazy and want to feel superior so they shut down headcanons like this one just for the sake of it

Sooooo many fans try to kill fun headcanons just because they don’t want to “give antis ammo” or whatever. It’s like they forget two key things: 1. Fandom is fun 2. Antis are gonna fucking hate us anyway

Like we aren’t going to convince a hateful anti to leave us alone. We sure aren’t going to convince them Harry and Louis are together. We might barely be able to convince them either of them are allies much less part of the LGBT community. So why put any effort into policing ourselves in that manner? Just let us have fun!

I’ve been in this fandom since 2014 and I still have fun every single day. I also have made sure to cultivate an overall positive fandom experience. I have a large group of friends who are all as positive as me and we just share fun headcanons and try to puzzle stuff out in the most low key and low risk to our mental health way possible. I block hate anon pretty liberally. I don’t go looking for anyone who is doing anything I don’t care to engage with. If I see people getting sucked into discourse or spiraling into unhealthy behaviors when it comes to doomsdaying away I go in the OPPOSITE direction of it.

I watched “rad Louies” become a thing because fans were convinced Louis was being sabotaged in 2017 and rolled my eyes and continued on in my lane, writing fic and figuring that everything would be okay and now 5 years out I can pretty confidently say I believe there’s a lot of evidence Louis cut the promo himself on Back to You and his Epic contract because he didn’t like the musical direction he was going in.

I watched fandom tie themselves into knots over and over again with Harry’s stunts and have just shrugged and carried on because it’s not my life and not my job to worry about what Harry is choosing to do with his life.

I learned in May 2015 when fandom tried to “change the narrative about party boy Louis” that we as fans don’t actually have control at all. 1DHQ worked really hard to give us that illusion that we were all powerful and we had control on the marketing decisions etc but guess what? No one TALKED about Briana openly when Louis got papped with her in May. No one shared pap pics on tumblr. And yet we STILL GOT BG. We bitched and moaned and debunked left right and center and yet they CONTINUED ON.

As a fan my only job is to have fun. I have fun by trying to work out timelines and make up cute headcanons. My headcanons aren’t hurting anyone and despite what antis think I really don’t care if I’m right or wrong lol hell I’ll be the first to admit that I get shit wrong a lot. *gestures towards my guess that Louis was doing something May 25th when it turned out to be an error on his poster (which is a whole other issue but whatever) and that Steve Aoki might make an appearance at Louis’ Vegas show (which turned out to be that Louis showed up at HIS show)*

I’m having a blast. If my headcanons get debunked oh well I move on. Fandom is supposed to be fun! Be in it because you enjoy it and you HAVE FUN! If you aren’t having fun maybe… find something else to do?
