29.06.2024
It's been a day for errands.
Laundry, Ananth's place, washing dishes, taking out the trash, cleaning the onion bin that had gotten gross and fly infested, going to the supermarket, hanging clothes, answering emails, going to the market again. I want to make Anmd's spinach meat with paneer. A meet of cultures. Or a mess. We'll see. I also want to make babaganush. Not in the same day tho.
I feel well doing this things, moving around town with some purpose. My parents called, dad's getting surgery next month. They're worried about the whole insurance and costs things. It felt heavy to hear. I couldn't hold the conversation for long. It made me tired and worried. I wish money wouldn't be a problem.
I'm hoping to cook and then do German homework, let's see if that happens. Yesterday I met with Jo.l and La.ra and they insist I should apply for the permanent residence already. I got a spark of thinking that would for sure make my life easier. And if there's a chance, why not try. I've been doing tests in the leben in Deutschland app. It's a challenge to find where to do the test, apparently.
If I run from here out of fear of some mean bot comments, the n.zis win. And i shall not let them.

~ S U N N Y B R O O K E ~ C I T I Z E N ~
Name: Stark Ananth
Age: 55 (turned at 27)
Pronouns: He/Him
Species: Vampire
Occupation: Unemployed
Faceclaim: Matthew Daddario
~ B I O G R A P H Y ~
(tw: violence, blood, mental illness)
Stark lived a life unfortunately familiar to many people in America before he was turned. His biological father abandoned him, his mother, and his older sister when he was 16 years old. This loss turned his mother to drugs and alcohol, which lead the whole family down a dark path.
She had many boyfriends around the house, all of whom were aggressive users as well. It was one of them in particular that had always seemed especially off to him. This same man later went on to marry his mother and become his step-father.
Years later, he returned home for the holidays only to find his mother naked and bathed in her own blood on the living room floor. Hovering over her and feasting on the corpse was the man who vowed to love his mother forever.
In a fit of rage he tackled his step-father and began stabbing him with the switchblade that always rested in his pocket. He was easily overpowered by the man, who seemed completely unaffected by the several wounds gaping from his belly. It was then that he bit down into Stark’s neck, sending shock waves of unimaginable pain through his body.He would have been drained dry just as his mother was if it wasn’t for his sister.
She had just came home from gift shopping when she heard the screaming pleas of her little brother from outside. She ran to the door and saw the creature gnawing at his flesh. Thinking quickly, she rushed inside and to her mother’s bedroom. There she pulled open the drawer to find a bottle of holy water. She sprinted back into the living room and doused her step-father in the sacred water, watching briefly as his skin burned at contact. With this distraction she was able to successfully drag her brother outside to safety. She knew the holy water would not be strong enough to kill the vampire. It was then she remembered the gasoline sitting in their garage. She grabbed it and went back into the house, soaking everything in sight with the flammable liquid. Her step-father was too focused on his already melting skin to see what she was doing, or care. With the bottle empty, she ran outside, lit a match, and dropped it at the front door.
It was that day Stark learned not only how evil the world could be, but also the evil within himself. He lived a nomadic lifestyle ever since, only keeping a female companion with him at times. He hunted and killed hundreds of humans and animals not just for sustenance, but for the thrill.
Stark lived this way until recently when he was caught and tried for the murder of a 23 year old girl. The police suspected him for many other killings of young women over the years but had no evidence. The prosecutor still pushed for the death penalty, citing the many other dead girls that were likely his victims. The case was highly publicized and the country wanted him burned alive, referring to him as ‘Stark the Slayer.’ But without proof, and with his team of expert lawyers, he was able to successfully plea insanity. He was sentenced to live in Sunnybrooke and receive psychiatric care indefinitely.
~ P E R S O N A L I T Y ~
Stark is truly the embodiment of the classic vampires all humans fear. He is a ruthless killer with insatiable blood lust. However, it is unclear if the root of his desire to kill is caused by mental illness. Many media outlets claimed his supposed psychopathy was just a facade to receive a lesser sentence in his trial, but some people argue that the trauma from his childhood and from his turning could have triggered numerous neurological problems such as PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and anxiety. Illness or not, he has violent tendencies that will be incredibly difficult for him to control now that he is a Sunnybrooke resident.
Beyond his desire to kill, he also desperately seeks companionship with women. He doesn’t believe in love, but does wish for the reliability and sexual pleasure a partner can offer him. When single he is quite the womanizer, but when in a monogamous relationship he never strays. He is loyal to his partner and is always conscious of their needs and desires.
In contrast, people outside of his intimate relationships mean absolutely nothing to him. He easily dissociates with strangers, especially men. Because of the influences of his father and step-father, he considers all men (including himself) to be disgusting and untrustworthy.

CREATOR INFO
NAME: Thorn / Meloni
AGE: 21
PRONOUNS: They/them
BLOG URL: artificially-heaven.tumblr.com
DISCORD HANDLE: Melonileipa (#4014)
CHARACTER INFO
FULL NAME: Sympan
ALIASES: Ananth Eien (human alias), the Demon of Lightning, stray cat, simp (Keno only unless you have a death wish)
SPECIES: Demon (Lightning)
GENDER: Non-binary, he/him
AGE: Unknown, presents around 40 years old
OCCUPATION: Local menace (unemployed)
FACTION: Demons
CURRENT RESIDENCE: A hotel room which he shares with Keno, booked for a whole year
PERSONALITY: Though Sympan comes off very abrasive and volatile, he merely has little patience and is easily provoked. Despite his heavy homicidal inclinations, if he perceives someone neither as a threat nor an annoyance, his last shreds of humanity show through, and he truly enjoys musicals and plays, knowing many by heart. He may have trouble expressing his thoughts, but he usually acts like he feels, and he hates seeing others suffering. Even if he states his hatred for humanity, he still relates to their plight.
BACKSTORY: Sympan looked quite different when he last was in town back when the Vingti cult was still active. The last 15-ish years, he and Keno have been back home in Hell, where life had been dull, certainly, but Sympan was able to ensure Keno was staying in line. Sympan prefers not to talk about what happened before then, even his own memory is foggy.
REPUTATION: People seem to regard him either with humor due to him wearing a hood with “cat ears” that conceal his horns, or with fear as a rabid person, willing to either physically duke it out with humans and animals alike. He has threatened a number of people with the possibility of striking them with lightning, though considering his partner is usually around him, so far they’ve merely been threats.

Tharoor and six journos now face FIRs in 5 states
NEW DELHI/GURGAON/NOIDA/BENGALURU: A day after Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and six senior journalists, including Rajdeep Sardesai, were booked for sedition and other crimes at Noida’s Sector 20 police station, similar FIRs with same charges were registered against them in Gurgaon and Bengaluru on Friday. On Thursday, the Noida police had filed FIR against Tharoor, Sardesai, Mrinal Pande, Zafar Agha, Paresh Nath, Anant Nath, Vinod K Jose and ‘others’ under charges of sedition, promoting enmity and other sections of IPC for “broadcasting and tweeting misleading news” about a protester who died in an accident after a tractor overturned during farmers’ protests that turned violent on Republic Day in Delhi. On Friday, the seven were booked for the same charges, including sedition, on the basis of complaints at Cyber police station in Gurgaon and Parappana Agrahara police station in Bengaluru. Another FIR — minus the sedition charge— was filed against them at IP Estate police station in Delhi on Friday. With this, FIRs against the seven accused have been filed at police stations across four states and one Union territory since Thursday — Delhi, UP, Karnataka, Haryana and MP. The Delhi FIR, a copy of which is with TOI, was filed on the complaint of Chiranjiv Kumar, a resident of Mata Sundri Road. The FIR invokes IPC sections of criminal conspiracy, provoking people with intent to cause riot, provocation to break public peace and fear or alarm to the public. It stated that the accused had “deliberately and without any authentication, fact-checking and verification, purposefully posted fake, misleading and wrong information to instigate the protesters and to add fuel to fire for their own political and personal advantage”. At Cyber police station in Gurgaon, an FIR was filed identical to the one filed in Noida’s Sector 20 police station. The complainant from Gurgaon was a 34-year-old private executive, Pankaj Singh. “Other than IPC Section 124A (sedition), the other sections invoked are 120B (criminal conspiracy), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc), 153B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) and 505(2) (statements promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes),” said ACP (DLF) Karan Goyal. In Bengaluru, the FIR was filed after a complaint by one Rakesh BS, 37, an employee with a private firm. Rakesh said in his complaint that he had heard that journalists Rajdeep Sardesai, Mrinal Pande, Zafar Agha, Paresh Nath, Ananth Nath and Vinod K Jose and MP Tharoor had tweeted saying that a farmer had died in police firing during the tractor parade in Delhi on January 26. Police registered a criminal case under IPC sections 153a (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc), 153b (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration), 295a (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 298 (uttering, words with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings), 506 (criminal intimidation), 124a (sedition), 504 (whoever intentionally insults and gives provocation) against the suspects. The same seven persons were also booked at Misrod police station in Bhopal under IPC sections 153A, 153A (1b) and 505 (2) — promoting enmity, committing an act that is prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony between communities, making statements to create enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes. They have not been charged with sedition though the complaint had asked for it.

Amrita Sher-Gil
UNTITLED (SELF-PORTRAIT) 1913 - 1941 Oil on canvas 18 by 13 in. (45.8 by 33.2 cm.) Painted in 1933
Amrita Sher-Gil is considered to be one of India’s most important early modernist painters. In December of 1976, India declared her a national treasure with regard to her ‘artistic and aesthetic value’ and prohibited the exportation of her paintings outside the country. Not only did she play a crucial role in the articulation of twentieth century Indian art and was a seminal influence on generations of Indian artists, she also pioneered a new form of Indian modernism.
In life and art Sher-Gil was a woman both within and ahead of her time breaking boundaries that make her one of India's most compelling figures in the 20th century.
Like her Mexican peer Frida Kahlo (1907-1954), who was also half-Hungarian, Sher-Gil was a rebellious and adventurous spirit who represented a rare zeitgeist of avant-garde women from traditional cultures who broke barriers in art and life. They worked in similar moments at opposite parts of the world.
Born in Budapest, her mother was a Hungarian Jewish opera singer and her father was an Indian Sikh aristocrat and scholar. She lived in Hungary, India and Paris during her lifetime, and her art embodies a bohemian combination of east and west. Mixing elements from both her Indian and Hungarian cultures, with her rigorous training in Paris at the Grande Chaumiere and later the École des Beaux-Arts, Sher-Gil developed a novel style of painting that transcended cultural barriers. ‘Artists like Amrita Sher-Gil are not the mirrors of their time but telescopes through which the future may be discerned. They make the revolutions, they anticipate the new order, for the destructive portion of its work is merely the preparation for new creation, just as the storms of autumn strip the trees bare so that the new life may unfold itself in the spring. Amrita, who was herself a blending of the Orient and the Occident, was looking for more than new forms; nor was she seeking just harmony. She was a herald of the spiritual equilibrium between Europe and Asia, a new synthesis, a step towards the age of world-art.’ (B. Dhingra, Amrita Sher-Gil, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, 1965, p. i)
Sher-Gil and her family moved to Paris in 1929 when she was 16, upon the urging of her maternal uncle, Ervin Baktay. Baktay felt that she would have better opportunities to hone and develop her talent there. Throughout her tragically short life, Sher-Gil went through several periods of exploration but particularly in the early 1930s in Paris, she was experimenting with various styles and it was then that she started to paint with oils for the first time. Most of the paintings she made between 1930 and 1933 were portraits and self-portraits. Yashodhara Dalmia posits that Sher-Gil would have benefited greatly from the liberal nature of life in Paris. ‘Certain aspects of Amrita’s character, which were latent till now, started to become conspicuous in the heady atmosphere of the Latin Quarter. Her confidence flourished and she became a vivacious and stimulating person, in full possession of herself, spending her nights in animated conversation in dimly lit cafes. Her self-portrait in 1930, when she was seventeen, shows a brightly made-up woman with glowing cheeks and full red lips, wearing a low-cut dress against a flaming-red background.’ (Y. Dalmia, Amrita Sher-Gil, A Life, New Delhi, 2006, p.28) The painting that Dalmia is referring to is one of the earliest known self-portraits by the artist.
Whilst residing in Paris for those five years, Sher-Gil and her sister Indira spent their summers in Hungary, mostly in the small town of Zebegeny, where Baktay would organise summer camps. Painted in 1933, the same year that 19 year old Sher-Gil won the Gold Medal from the Grand Salon, this self-portrait was made during one of Sher-Gil’s summers in Hungary and is a wonderful example of her blossoming artistic and personal maturity. Miklos Losonczi has commented on this current painting, ‘Pure and true sensualism can be read on her falling black hair and the playful smile of her round eyes. Her look is full of expectant desire and the ash-coloured background blunts the expressive gestures of her fiery-red lips, the message of a girl becoming a woman.’ (G. Wojtilla, Amrita Sher-Gil and Hungary, New Delhi, 1981, p.22) The light hitting the side of her face, surrounded by the darker colours of her clothing, hair and the background, lends an almost chiaroscuro effect to the work. Her lips become the focal point of the painting, drawing the viewer’s attention towards them. A slight hint of an enigmatc smile and a mischievious twinkle in her eye, make this charming self-portrait, one of the very few such works in existence outside of India, a leading example of Sher-Gil’s oeuvre. Karl Khandalavala has commented, ‘Amrita Sher-Gil’s figures are always static, but her colour organisations are vibrant, glowing and intense. This contradistinction, which is apparent throughout her work, is an expression of the character of her emotions, both in life and art, which were a strange combination of the static and the dynamic’ (K. Khandalavala cited in D. Ananth, ‘An Unfinished Project’, Amrita Sher-Gil, Schirmer/Mosel, 2007, p. 21) This quote is both poignant and relevant to the current painting. Although she is tilting her head slightly, her pose is indeed very static, yet her brilliant use of colour lends a certain energy and vitality to the work.
In Paris, Sher-Gil was also exposed to the works of Paul Cézanne and Paul Gaugin. She was particularly enamoured with their uncanny ability to blend the old with the new. Much like Gaugin’s depictions of Tahitian women, Sher-Gil’s self-portrait is stylistically simple yet sexually complex. One year later, she even painted a portrait of herself as a Tahitian. In much the same way that Gaugin left France and was inspired by Tahiti, subsequently changing his style and subject matter, Sher-Gil also left Paris for India in 1934 and was influenced by her Indian culture, choosing to then depict rural subjects and their way of life rather than the portraits that she previously favoured. Instead of revelling in the popularity of the past, she preferred to look toward the future.
There are a very limited number of works made by Sher-Gil before her sudden and untimely demise at the age of 28. In total, 172 paintings have been documented and of those, 95 are in the permanent collection of museums and institutions within India, notably the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi, and will never be allowed to leave the country.

via Today Bharat nbsp; Rashmika Mandanna starrer Bheeshma will hit screens on February 21.Rashmika Mandanna promises that her upcoming movie Bheeshma will be a laugh riot. She also says her character Chaitra wonrsquo;t be as annoying as Samskruthi in Sarileru Neekevvaru. Bheeshma is directed by Venky Kudumula. The Nithiin-starrer will hit screens this Friday. Here are excerpts from Rashmika Mandannarsquo;s interaction with media in Hyderabad: How did you celebrate Valentinersquo;s Day? I went to the gym in the morning to work out. But, to my surprise, it did not go as I planned. So, I went home and watched a romantic movie to soak myself in the spirit of Valentinersquo;s Day. But, 20 minutes into the movie, I got so bored that I dozed off. My Valentinersquo;s Day was so boring, and I hope nobody gets such a boring Valentinersquo;s Day ever. Tell us about your role in Bheeshma. You can expect not to be annoyed by my character. In the movie, I have played a character named Chaitra, and it is a fun, nice character. Tell us about working with Ananth Nag. He is like a father to me. I worked for four days with him. Since he too hails from Karnataka, we both always spoke in Kannada. I enjoyed working with him. Is Bheeshma based on any real events? Itrsquo;s not like that. This movie is about organic farming. It also has an underlying message. But, we have said it comically. nbsp; How did you take criticism that you received for your acting in Sarileru Neekevvaru? I didnrsquo;t hear any criticism. Of course, there would have been some criticism. I already knew it. Itrsquo;s all an experiment. I donrsquo;t think I would do a film like that again. But, my character in that movie was like that. When the director wants it, I will give it. When are you going to join the sets of Allu Arjun-Sukumar film? I will be joining the sets from mid-March. You will see a new Rashmika in that movie. What can you tell us about the recent IT raids at your residence? They (the income tax officials) have their procedures to follow. My father is a businessman in Coorg, and I am an actor. I had to go to Coorg for the same matter. I freaked out too when I first heard about the IT raids, but they didnrsquo;t find anything. We heard that you rejected the Hindi remake of Jersey. It happened due to the lack of dates.

Unleashing the Power of Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory with Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database
I have spent the last 10 (of my 24) years at Intel focused on growing the public cloud and building deep partnerships with global cloud service providers such as Oracle. Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to present at Oracle OpenWorld with Ananth Raghavan, VP Oracle TimesTen* In-Memory Database. This was my third year presenting at Oracle Open World and it was great to see the power of Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory in a live demo with a longtime partner.
In August, Intel began shipping the first revenue units of our persistent memory product, known as Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory (the DC stands for Data Center), to our CSP partners. If you watched our Data-Centric Summit, you saw Navin Shenoy, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Datacenter Group at Intel deliver our first DIMM.
Fig. 1
One thing that often surprises people hearing about the Intel® persistent memory module for the first time is the capacity. As shown in the graphic above (Fig. 1), the modules, which plug into DDR4 memory slots, come in sizes of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. That’s up to half a terabyte per module, which can enable two-socket server systems to support 6 TB of memory or more with additional DRAM installed on the machine. This nicely summarizes why Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory is expected to be a disruptive technology, causing people to re-think how they configure their servers and how server applications use the resources available to them.
Ananth wowed the audience, and me, with a live demo of a prototype Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database running on Intel® persistent memory. TimesTen has been a foundational database for more than 20 years, and is used in mission critical applications around the world. If you have a cell phone, chances are you have used TimesTen without knowing it. TimesTen is a SQL based relational database and has all the standard properties expected of a relational database. It was designed from the beginning as an in-memory database, meaning that at runtime the entire database resides in DRAM.
Before an in-memory database can be used, the entire database must be loaded from storage into DRAM. For large in-memory databases, this can take a long time–unproductive time that your customers spend waiting. To solve for this delay, many replicate their database to another system, allowing them to failover to that database while the other recovers. By storing the TimesTen database in Intel® persistent memory, the need to load the database from storage is eliminated since the data remains stored in memory even through a power cycle!
Now the “wow moment” of the demo: Ananth demonstrated the startup of a TimesTen Database using a standard configuration, e.g. loading from flash drives and a second TimesTen Database using Intel® persistent memory. The traditional configuration took more than 10 minutes to load while the Intel® persistent memory configuration took less than one second! Minutes to Seconds. Users are no longer waiting for the database to start, and the need for a secondary system to eliminate startup delays is gone. Imagine the possibilities.
That wasn’t the only benefit of Intel® persistent memory. A key part of a relational database is the ability to support “transactions.” Transactions allow applications to make multiple changes to data all as one operation. Transactions are critical in databases and must be made “durable”. Meaning that the database will remember them if something crashes. Ananth used the same two systems to compare the writing of a transaction log. The performance benefit of Intel® persistent memory was HUGE! In Oracle’s demo, the traditional configuration achieved 176K TPS (transactions per second), while the platform with Intel® persistent memory achieved 1.16M TPS—a 6.49X improvement in throughput.
Throughout my session, I discussed the power of the Intel® portfolio and our collaboration with Oracle through projects such as Project Apollo. We’ve created a joint program and lab that enables our engineers to work together on cloud workloads in a scale-out data center environment. We collaborate to develop custom Cloud CPU’s that offer premium performance experience for enterprise customers. And now, we are working together to bring the highest value to our customers by optimizing complete solutions using the latest Intel® 3D NAND SSDs and Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory.
For more than 25 years, Oracle and Intel have worked closely to bring innovative, scalable, and secure enterprise-class solutions to our customers. When using Oracle cloud services on Intel, you know you will be getting leadership technologies with workload optimized performance to drive better TCO for your business.

Uniquely vulnerable (A watertight store of Indians’ personal data proves leaky)#MohnishAhluwaliaNotes
A journalist discovers that information from the Aadhaar ID scheme is available online AADHAAR, India’s project to issue every resident a unique, biometrically verifiable identification number, is big, bold and in many ways brilliant. Aadhaar IDs provide a quick, easy and theoretically foolproof way for civil servants and firms to know for sure with whom they are dealing. Officials say the scheme allows better targeting of welfare. Businesses love how easy it makes checking credit histories and vetting job applicants, among other things. An Aadhaar card allowed your correspondent to apply for and walk away with a driver’s licence in under half an hour. It provides proof of address and other data that in other countries—and in pre-Aadhaar India—would require a stack of documents. But civil libertarians have long worried that the government or, worse, crooks who gain access to the data will put Aadhaar to nefarious use. Some 200 government entities have been shamed for publishing private Aadhaar data, and more than one private firm with licensed access to Aadhaar data has been caught using it for purposes other than those agreed. Now proof has emerged that the whole database is not as watertight as claimed. Earlier this month the Tribune, an English-language daily, revealed that for $8 or so a reporter had bought illegal access to the entire Aadhaar database, barring cardholders’ fingerprints and iris scans. For just $5 more she was able to print out ID cards with any Aadhaar number. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which runs Aadhaar, compounded the embarrassment by filing a police report against the reporter and her paper. The ensuing outcry made headlines, and UIDAI quickly changed its tune, underlining its commitment to press freedom and to finding the real culprits. On January 10th it quietly added more layers of security. When fully applied in June, UIDAI’s new system will allow cardholders to hide their actual 12-digit Aadhaar number behind a changeable virtual ID code. It will also be far more selective about who has access to what level of data. The changes may have come just in time. The scandal in the press, experts say, revealed only one of Aadhaar’s weaknesses, which UIDAI had already tried to fix. The breach exploited by the Tribune was through one of tens of thousands of private Aadhaar registration providers who had been licensed to process ID applications—an understandable expedient given the huge number of applicants. In a tacit admission of concern, UIDAI has revoked many of these private licences, but apparently forgot also to revoke the former licence-holders’ access to its database. Ananth Padmanabhan, a researcher at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a think-tank, describes the decision to recruit so many private agents as a recipe for trouble, but points out wider problems. One is what he calls “overseeding”: Aadhaar is now linked to more than 150 other databases, including less secure and more detailed data on residents stored by several Indian states. Some of these state troves, disturbingly, include information on religious affiliation and use mobile-phone data to track citizens’ movements. Another design flaw is in the structure of UIDAI. “It is a very strange beast,” says Mr Padmanabhan, “They made the custodian of data the regulator. Those duties should be separated.” Until now, successive governments, dazzled by India’s heroic vault into the digital age, have blithely shrugged off concerns about Aadhaar. The current one, under Narendra Modi, the prime minister, has instead tried to cajole all Indians to join, even though participation in Aadhaar is supposed to be voluntary, by making an Aadhaar ID a requirement for a growing number of public and private services, including school lunches, pensions, tax registration, bank accounts and mobile phones. No wonder that more than nine in ten Indians—1.19bn people—have signed up so far. Nikhil Pahwa, a digital-rights activist, reckons that Aadhaar was misconceived from the outset. The government put too much faith in the system’s designers, and was in too much of a hurry to get Aadhaar up and running. “So what we get is a public repository of private data being handed over to private enterprise,” he says. “When they say, ‘Big data is the new oil,’ I answer, ‘But my data is not your resource.’” #MohnishAhluwaliaNotes

Cong softens stand on PM's remark against Manmohan, starts row over Hegde
The government and the opposition softened their stand on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks against Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, ending the nearly two-week impasse in Parliament, but a fresh row over Union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde's controversial comments on secularism is likely to keep it astir.
After an intense face-off, the government told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that Modi never questioned his predecessor Manmohan Singh's integrity and commitment to the nation.
The Congress, which was hitherto insisting on an apology from Modi over his remark that Singh colluded with Pakistanis to influence the Gujarat Assembly elections, said it does not approve of any comments against the prime minister, apparently a reference to the "neech" remark made by its suspended leader Mani Shankar Aiyar.
The proceedings of both Houses of Parliament were repeatedly disrupted over the past two weeks over remarks by Modi during the Gujarat assembly election campaign. He had criticised Singh for attending a "secret" dinner with senior Pakistan officials at Aiyar's residence.
The Congress said Modi's remarks implied that Singh and other public figures who attended the dinner were conspiring with Pakistan, and demanded an apology from the prime minister.

Richard Meier completes Bauhaus-inspired tower in Tel Aviv
American architect Richard Meier has finished work on his first project in Israel, a residential tower covered in a "veil" of white louvres that ensure the building is in keeping with its Bauhaus-era neighbours in Tel Aviv's White City.
Richard Meier & Partners' Rothschild Tower rises 154 metres above Rothschild Boulevard in the centre of the UNESCO-protected White City, which is renowned for its 20th-century architecture.
The area is home to over 4,000 Bauhaus-style buildings constructed between 1930 and 1940 by German-Jewish architects who immigrated to the region before the second world war. Their architecture was based on teachings from the Bauhaus art school, which ran between 1919 and 1933, and also drew on elements of modernism.
Meier, who is known for his pared-back and typically white buildings, designed a double-layered facade for the tower, which spans 42 storeys above street level.
A delicate white lattice of louvres and window frames is created in front of the glazed facades, which ensure an abundance of natural light and views out towards the Mediterranean Sea for residents on the uppermost floors. Each corner of the tower is also fitted with a balcony with a white base that continues the pattern.
"The great thing about the site is that it's related to the whole city; it's related to all of the wonderful buildings of the 1930s and to the historic buildings of Rothschild Boulevard. It makes me very happy to be in such company," said Meier.
"The design of the buildings in the White City made a deep impression on me when I visited Israel many years ago, so to work in this context has been an aspiration of mine for a long time," he added.
"It is my hope that inviting the timeless quality of this city's light and views into an open layout for the residences, a design we haven't seen much here, will bring together the existing elements with a fresh perspective."
The louvres stop short of the ground floor, leaving the tall lobby and shop spaces unobscured to create a visual connection with the boulevard beyond. Above the regimented louvres of the main body of the tower a broad "urban window" is framed by the slatted sunshades and secures a view west towards the sea from the penthouse apartments.
The tower's other amenities include a swimming pool, spa, wine cellar and lounges.
"The tower is deliberately lifted above the street on graceful piloti, with an undulating glass wall in deference to the importance of this important intersection of Rothschild and Allenby," explained Reynold Logan, the design partner in charge of the project. "The transparency and lofty openness of the ground floor lobby, garden and retail spaces contribute to a vibrant streetscape."
"Transparency and the related accessibility and connection issues merit respect for the circumstances of each project, especially in dense urban environments," he added.
"We well recognise the paradoxical nature of balancing those issues, and at the Rothschild Tower the delicate louvre screen is an elegant white veil inspired by the ventilated protective layers of more traditional Middle Eastern clothing. It is also a 'buffer' of sorts, and obscures the distinction between the public image of the building and the private realm within."
Over the last five decades, Meier, 82, and his firm have completed 130 projects throughout America, Europe and Asia. The Pritzker Prize-winning architect runs his New York and Los Angeles-based practice with six partners.
Earlier this year the firm, which came in at number 96 on Dezeen Hot list, revealed its UK project – a grand home in the Oxfordshire countryside.
This year it has also completed three residential blocks and two charter schools in downtown Newark and released a minimal lighting collection.
