Please keep the family of Tanya Day in your thoughts
Here is a summary of the situation:
Ms Day (a 55 year old indigenous Australian Yorta Yorta woman) died after sustaining a serious head injury in a police cell on 22 December 2017.
On 5 December 2017, during her train journey, Ms Day was approached by a V/Line train conductor. He called the police, Ms Day was ejected from the train and arrested for being drunk in a public place. Ms Day was taken to Castlemaine police station and detained in a police cell. Despite the requirement that she be physically checked every 30 minutes, this did not happen. The CCTV footage shows that at around 5:00pm Ms Day fell and hit her head on a concrete wall of the police cell.
When a physical check takes place at 8:03 pm, police notice a dark, oval-shaped bruise on Ms Day’s forehead. An ambulance is called and Ms Day was then taken by ambulance to Bendigo hospital. A scan revealed a massive bleed on Ms Day’s brain and she was flown by helicopter to St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, where she underwent emergency surgery. Ms Day died seventeen days later.
On 25 June 2019, the Coroner made a ruling on the scope of the coronial inquest into the death of Ms Day and said that she would “allow witnesses to be questioned as to whether racism played a part of their decision making, including Ms Day’s treatment, options considered, their motivations and potential unintended effects of their decision making.”
Key findings of the coroners inquest included: “there was potentially an omission to obtain timely, appropriate medical care which impacted on her death”, the decision-making process of the V/Line train conductor – who formed the view that Ms Day was ‘unruly’ and organised for the police to attend the train station – was influenced by Ms Day’s Aboriginality and the train conductor’s unconscious bias, Ms Day was “not treated with humanity and respect for the inherent dignity of a human person as required by the Charter”,  that the ambulance officer’s care for Ms Day revealed a “number of deficiencies” but found that no specific action taken by the paramedics impacted on Ms Day’s death. the Coroner did find that the totality of the evidence supported a belief that an indictable offence may have been committed.
As of the 28th of August, 2020, “Police officers involved in the death in custody of the Yorta Yorta woman Tanya Day will not face any criminal charges.” Victoria police said they had received advice from the office of public prosecutions not to proceed with charges against any officers involved in Day’s death. No internal sanctions have been issued by Victoria police against any officer involved. Day’s family and their lawyers were not directly informed of the decision by the DPP or police. In a statement released via the Human Rights Law Centre, they said they were “devastated and angry”.
Please do not forget Tanya Day, yet another victim of racism against the Aboriginal people of Australia. She deserved better. Do not forget her name.

don’t help the english be colonizers. and especially don’t erase the history and language of someone who refused to bow before queen elizabeth.
her name is NOT grace. it’s Gráinne Ní Mháille.

hi i'm sorry but your post about being the racist in your own life made me question something: are you not supposed to call a headscarf a hijab? are there other terms that would actually be correct but have been trampled over by white western people?
there are multiple uhh different kinds of headscarves and modesty coverings. usually people refer to all the kinds as “hijab” kinda like a catchall, but that’s incorrect.

here’s some images. it’s just tiring to see them all called hijabs. only one of them is a hijab.

fyi to yall in quarantine whos grasp on reality is getting a little slippery: isolation, intense boredom, stress and lack of positive routine are absolutely contributing factors to exacerbating psychosis and psychosis-adjacent disorders, even latent ones. im not saying this to fearmonger im saying it so u can recognise it and take steps to handle it especially if it induces your first ever episode.
some warning signs can include
starting to believe unusual things that you previously did not believe (e.g. living in a simulation / you or others around you not being real / secretly being in hell or dead / otherworldly beings communicating with you somehow / government conspiracies / everyone around you is out to get you and harboring ill intent)
seeing things youre pretty sure arent there (e.g. shadow people, floating lights, stationary objects moving on their own, animals in a house that doesnt have pets)
hearing things (e.g. murmured voices, occasional clear and loud voices, faint music, scratching sounds, any without a source)
feeling a sense of dread or generalised paranoia, a sense that you are being watched or that something terrible is looming on the horizon but you dont know what
having extra trouble putting your thoughts in order and speaking coherently, cannot concentrate, space out to the point of feeling slightly catatonic
those most at risk are anyone with a family history of this vein of mental illness as well as those using certain drugs to get through the tedium of quarantine - if this is you, its best to research whether the substances youre using have documented links to triggering episodes of psychosis in users. weed is included in this, not just psychoactive drugs.
here are some steps you can take to get a handle on the situation if your grasp on reality is slipping like this and you cant access irl mental health resources.
have a routine. this is vitally important - you need structure. set an alarm for a specific time every day, even though you have nowhere to be. give yourself a bedtime. eat 2 meals a day, at least, at regular times.
leave the house. no, i dont mean Go Out, just be outside for a while every day or two. go for a walk if you can. stand outside your house for 15 minutes paying attention to the cars and the birds and the breeze and the clouds if you cant. really observe your surroundings. get sunlight.
on that note - let as much natural light into your house as possible during waking hours. your circadian rhythm needs it.
take up some form of hobby that requires physical engagement - whether thats journaling, drawing, making origami, gardening, cooking. the point of this is to ground yourself in your body and the world around you, have an affect on your surroundings, and stimulate your brain.
dont dwell on your delusions, hallucinations or distressing trains of thought if you can help it. that isnt to say "snap out of it and just dont have symptoms", but rather accept them without either judging them or overindulging in them. observe them as they happen, accept that they happen, and let it go, if you can. you may not be able to control the experiences, but you can control how you react to them, and the best case scenario is not allowing them to overwhelm your thoughts and your days. this is much easier said than done, especially if the experiences are distressing in nature, but the aim is to sever the feedback loop that causes further stress and thus further bad extrasensory experiences.
this is honestly just a basic surface scratch of advice though bc im by no means an expert, just someone w latent psychosis who used to work in the field for a while. there are tons of resources online by others who have experienced psychosis that can be a huge help if u think you might be at risk due to the stress, boredom and uncertainty of quarantine

a baby can be born right now at 12:00, on a wednesday, august 24 in new jersey while another baby is also born in the exact same moment but they are born 9:00, on a tuesday, august 23 in california, these babies that are born at the same moment are technically because of time zones, a concept that we created ourselves, born “hours” apart even though really they are born at the same moment just not the same “time”, one will be considered older even though in actuality they are the same
