Something is happening in México´s art world
The contemporary argentine artist Ana Gallardo exhibited a piece at the University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC) in México. The exhibition, titled "Tembló acá un delirio", featured the work Extracto de un Proyecto Fallido , where Gallardo visited Casa Xochiquetzal, a shelter in Tepito for elderly sex workers in vulnerable situations. The controversial piece consisted of a large wall where she wrote about her experience going to the house, where she was asked to care for one of the residents in a deplorable state, written with slurs and derogatory language toward the shelter, the sex workers, and Estela, the woman she "cared" for. The text is dehumanizing, degrading, and, to top it off, she projects a video where she caresses Estela's hands, as if she were a religious figure holding a sick child for a photo-op. We don’t know, and the most probable answer is no, if Estela consented to have her image used in such a vile and cruel manner.
The most foolish people try to defend these atrocities by saying it's art, claiming it opens up a conversation, or that it qualifies as art because it generates a reaction, in this case, a disgusting one. Humans feel and react to all stimuli in more or less conscious ways, of course injustice generates a reaction, as do crimes, but that doesn’t make them art. Not everything that happens in a museum is art, and just because a video is projected doesn’t make it a work of art, no matter how much it's accompanied by curatorial text. It is not art, it is abuse.
In the wake of the exhibit, there were protests at the museum, demanding respect for sex workers and calling for an end to discrimination. The piece has since been removed, and the museum remains closed, likely to avoid further protests. The exhibition has been permanently removed down and the museum has not yet issued an apology after the scandal, but why let it get to that point? Who authorized this exhibit? Did they not read the supposed work, which is nothing more than a message of hatred and contempt? How much more can we exploit a person’s suffering and agony, displaying them in their most fragile condition just to provoke shock and hide behind the rhetoric of contemporary art?

so many thoughts about this selection roster. what's more interesting are the omissions rather than who was called up. (for example, that lola gallardo was left out.)
also, where are my anons who were so convinced jenni would be kicked out of rfef?! 🤔
but these are meaningless friendlies (spain has already qualified for euro 2025), so the best news is that irene and aitana are left off, so they can continue to recuperate and aitana can go to the ballon d'or ceremony! 🤩
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
no esther is criminal, especially since ana tejada (utah royals) is there. and why are we continuing the lucía garcía experiment?! 😵‍💫
no irene nor salma because they are continuing their recovery with the club. and here's the official reason from montse about aitana's absence but we know it's because she wants to party in peace 😉:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yeah, i think misa might be done with the national team for a little while.
yesterday, toril and olga carmona talked about the selection during their press conference prior to the uwcl match today, and said some 'negative' things about the selection. many journos believe it's due to the roster decision from today. montse talked about being surprised with toril's displeasure. how dysfunctional it all is 🙃

hi hi hi!!
Name your favourite artists who inspire you! Your arts are so cute
Other ship aside Armin/Annie?
Do you plan to draw more Aruani?
oh hiiii !!! 😊
1.
This is very difficult aaaaaa :_) obviously all the aruani related artists that I follow inspire me a lot, maybe we have very different art styles but I love seeing their art and they encourage me to embrace and enjoy the fandom as I am still a bit self-conscious about that "nerdy" part of myself.
I am kinda shy to mention specific people but let's see...... @nobluesea, @annawayne, @lidatan, @brbarou, @phyroblue, @ghostieking, @pepperjackets, @catfein ... aaand I have to mention @kalruani who I think is my fav aruani artist but I don't think they're on tumblr...... 👉👈 I don't wanna make anybody feel bad if I forget them, so if I follow you, consider yourself part of the list PLEASE :_)
some other non tumblr related people:
Ana Galvañ • Sara Soler • Gabriel Picolo • Bryan Lee O'Malley • alessandro barbucci • Núria Tamarit • Miguel Gallardo (RIP) • Maria Herreros • Laura Brouwers • Gretel Lusky • KAZLAND • Cristina Daura • So Lazo • Dakota Cates • Ingrid Arbiol • Paw Salcés • Xulia Vicente • Beatriz Fletes • LUCIA CUÑAT ORTEL • Paco Roca • Fran Riolobos • Ian • Sha'an d'Anthes • Lucy Zhang • David Ramírez • Julia Kaye • Alex Norris • AND some friends that are also great artists: [RAMUNE] - Alba Flores - Natalia Lucas - Joaquín Guirao
I'm forgetting people for sure aaaaaaaaa I tried my best.........
The alternative / punk / fanzine / local scene inspires me a lot, shows like Adventure Time, videogames like NITW or Omori with great art, and MUSIC!
2.
at this moment tbh I am super aruani focused... but I've shipped a lot through my life haha when I was a child I was obsessed with TK + Kari (digimon) and I usually shipped my fav character from anything, which usually was the misfit / weird / nerd one (I still do btw) 😅 Some ships that I also like at this moment could be zutara, bubbline, tomgreg from succession (in a fun way tbh), OBVIOUSLY tayley from paramore but they are real people so..... HAHA idk if you ask me what do I think of some specific ship I'll tell you my take!
3.
YES!! 🥰
thank you for asking!

THE BRAINIAC (El Barón Del Terror, 1962) – Episode 138 – Decades Of Horror: The Classic Era

The Brainiac is Ralph’s pick. He’d always been intrigued by that weird thing he’d seen in images from the film and knew there had to be a crazy movie there. He also thought it would make for a fun discussion and he was right.
Daphne had seen the Rifftrax treatment of The Brainiac so appreciates watching this fun and ridiculous movie “straight” for the first time. She loves the atmosphere and the mid-century furniture and clothing. What really gets to her, though, is when the Baron eats unrefrigerated brains!
Once Chad saw the hands on the poster as little hairy butts, he was gone. He goes so far as to call The Brainiac the weirdest movie he’s ever seen, and that’s saying a lot. The story’s two police officers, looking like they’re straight out of a Little Rascals episode, just happen to show up at the Baron’s abode with flame throwers. For him, it’s a fun movie. The translation and dubbing in The Brainiac remind Jeff of El Santo and Blue Demon movies, becoming another part of the entertainment.
If you have a hankering to see The Brainiac, also known as El barón del terror, you can stream it from hoopla, tubi, and PlutoTV.
Ralph Miller, the Grue Crew’s guest host, was a special effects artist in the 1980s and early 1990s. To hear more about Ralph’s work and experiences check out these episodes where we discuss Ralph’s work with him:
Interview With Special Effects Artist Ralph Miller III – Episode 155 – Decades Of Horror 1980s
TRICK OR TREAT (1986) – Episode 156 – Decades Of Horror 1980s
FROM BEYOND (1986) – Episode 199 – Decades Of Horror 1980s
Correction: While discussing the Classic Horror Movie Channel, Jeff mentions watching “The Man with the Atomic Brain” on the streaming channel. In reality, the film was Creature with the Atom Brain (1955). He apologizes for the error.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror: The Classic Era records a new episode every two weeks. Up next in their very flexible schedule, as chosen by Daphne, will be The Deadly Bees (1966), an Amicus production directed by Freddie Francis.
Please let them know how they’re doing! They want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans: leave them a message or leave a comment on the Gruesome Magazine YouTube channel, the site, or email the Decades of Horror: The Classic Era podcast hosts at [email protected]
To each of you from each of them, “Thank you so much for listening!”

I'm aware some culers who dislike the nt are happy players like pina didn't get a call up, but how is that good for her career? And why do you think she wasn't called up?
I'm sorry your blog got deleted :/ hopefully it's back soon!
thanks anon! 🙏 i hope so too! so i always have conflicted feelings about international breaks. not just because of the whole sordid catalunya-españa history, but because rfef does not treat our players with the care they deserve and the international schedule on top of one of the longest seasons in europe takes a huge toll on the barça players.
so think about it in two ways: pina going to the selection could improve her profile internationally, but if she gets burned out by the selection and ends up like salma, not only can't she play for the national team, but she can't play for barça either. and that certainly won't help her career.
as to why pina wasn't called up. montse's brain is impossible to figure out. why you would call in lucía garcía, ana tejada, nanclares, but leave off esther, pina, and lola gallardo makes no sense from a sporting angle. 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
no, i don't think so. it's just barça being fed up that the selection takes their healthy players on the men and women's teams and then returns them injured and broken. 😤
montse spoke today under her press conference for the roster drop and said:
Tumblr media
"from the coaching staff we do an exhaustive follow-up of all the leagues and we try to bring the players who are in the best condition or who can best help us for these matches."
like girl, please. you have no clue what you are doing. it's more a case of clubs being sick of rfef nonsense than anything else. 😵‍💫
