A Girl With Spirit: A Christmas Carol
Chapter 4
Claire and Jamie visit the past 👻
Instead of a cold city street, Jamie and Claire stepped into sunshine on lush green grass. “What is this?” she asked him.
“This is the Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls,” Jamie answered and pointed to the large brick building with white windows behind her. She turned around and looked through the flowering trees to see a middle aged man dropping off a young girl. She knew just when they were.

Christmas Prompts 23' Day 6 Caroling
AO3
“No. I don’t go caroling.” He stands, arms folded over his chest. She laughs.
“Correction, you didn’t go caroling. You do now.”
“What makes you think I will just go…” She pulls herself up and takes his lips. He draws her close, deepening it.
“Ready to go?” She asks when they come apart.
“You don’t fight fear, Mrs. Fraser.”
She giggles. “Never said I did, Mr. Fraser.”
That is how Jamie found himself serenading the neighbors with Christmas songs instead of cozy in his house watching rugby. It is a fair trade off.

any outlanders christmas headcannons? :3
You know, I HAVE been thinking of Christmas-based scenarios recently (i.e “A Christmas Carol” with Reirei) so why not?
Also idk if you mean in-universe headcanons or a human au so ig I’ll do both!
Everyone has a hand in decorating the tree. Everyone has different taste in Christmas decorations so it’s very diverse
They binge watch all the “good” Christmas movies like “Home Alone” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
They also warm up to “Muppets Christmas Carol” bc I said so
You know damn well who would do the equivalent of this to caroling animals
Your “Secret Santa” idea still prevails and the Idiots still don’t understand the concept. Either that or they reveal everybody’s secrets
You know that joke where someone’s stocking is huge compared to the others? That’s Cheezi “I’ve been really good this year!”
I think mistletoe grows in Africa so the skinks definitely place it here and there. It’s cute for Janja and Jasiri and Reirei and Goigoi….not so much for the crocs. Tamka and Neema ended up under it and actually gagged at the thought of kissing each other
Ig Kiburi changed the tradition so they fight under mistletoe instead cuz it’s the crocodile way
You know how Pumbaa dressed up as “Dandy Claws”? Jasiri got Janja to do the same thing hfhfhf
“Not a word…”
The skinks are definitely on the Naughty List. You know why
However when threatened that they would get coal, Shupavu insisted on making money off of it…or at least using it to build up the fire to keep warm so take THAT, Santa!
Chungu, Cheezi, and Tamka are not allowed to go into the kitchen cuz their fatasses ate all of the Christmas cookies

WINTER PROMPTS
@simulamortem asked: 🎄
It was one of the most wonderful times of the year. Hot cocoa, sparkling lights, festive carols, and so much more were covering the planets in the Outlands. Natalie adored every holiday as she was a rather sentimental person, so it was no surprise that her little home in Kings Canyon was decorated from head to toe. Wreaths hung on the doors, poinsettias and holly laid upon the tables and desks, stockings for both herself and Nikola hung near the entrance to her home, and so much more. Even Natalie herself was festive, dressed in an ugly Christmas sweater and an elf hat. But the most important piece was the tree and she had saved that task until Revenant came for another visit. It would be fun to decorate it together, she had thought. The tree stood in her living room, slightly to the wall as to not block the view from the couch to the television. It was bare, with nothing but the green of its pines. Next to it was a large box Natalie had pulled out of her storage and opened. It contained multicolored bulbs, garland, ribbons, and other trinkets to be placed upon the tree. "We can start with the lights and tinsel." Natalie instructed as she reached to pull out a few colorful strands. "Do you want to do a silver and gold tree? Rainbow? What do you think?"

From the OA Archives: A Very IkeSen Christmas
I can’t remember the exact prompt so I can’t tell if it was explicitly yume or I just thought it was hilarious to have the IkeSen meets Outlander vibe (I know they’re different centuries, my ancestors were there. If past lives are a thing I probably was there myself in a previous incarnation ☠️).
It’s safe for work. Mostly me teasing mummy Hideyoshi (I said what I said). Also, Saori is the name of the canon MC because I needed an excuse for…you’ll see 👀
It was my first Christmas in the Sengoku period. There were some Jesuit missionaries hidden somewhere in Japan, but having Nobunaga track one down for Midnight Mass was asking too much.
Everyone was already going out of their way to make it less hard for me to be not just 500 years into the past, but 500 years into the past of a country not my own. Not that being Roman Catholic in Elizabethan England would have been easier, but at least I’d have got some resemblance of my 21st century normality, with a banquet of roast game and a swishy velvet gown with fitted sleeves.
At least I was getting a Christmas tree. In fact, Nobunaga himself was overseeing the cutting of the tree for the hall. It all started a few days earlier, when Hideyoshi dropped by my room unannounced. I dried my tears and let him in, but couldn’t do much about hiding it, not to Azuchi’s mother hen at any rate.
Japan didn’t have the Gregorian calendar at the time, but the organiser in my bag reminded me it would have been the 3rd Sunday of Advent and I missed the unfunny memes about wearing pink on Gaudete Sunday that my friends would have shared on Twitter and I would have hated if I was there to see them.
The familiarity, even of something I found trite, made me feel really lonely, even if I was surrounded by people who welcomed me as one of their own (at least once they realised I wasn’t an assassin or a spy).
I confided in Hideyoshi, who stroke my head affectionately to try and soothe me, before declaring that Azuchi would have its first ever Christmas.
Not long after, Mitsunari knocked on my door, carrying paper and ink, ready to take notes about Christmas traditions. And that’s how we got to hanging things off a tree on the dais in the hall. We also handmade Christmas cards that Mitsuhide took to Kasugayama Castle, where Saori was now living with her Sengoku boyfriend, and Masamune was hard at work trying to replicate, as closely as possible, the panettone recipe handed down my family for generations.
Nobunaga looked on mildly amused as I directed his retainers with the strict professionalism of a decorator at Buckingham Palace and sung my favourite carols. What was left to do before Christmas Eve itself was buying presents. It has never been my favourite activity, but I wanted to show my appreciation to my new samurai family.
I had books ordered in town for Mitsunari and Ieyasu, sweets for Nobunaga that cost me more than the other presents put together (not surprising, coming from the poshest confectionery in the capital without Prime), a handmade book of recipes for Masamune, a fine scarf for Hideyoshi (because he’s always too busy worrying about everyone else to care about himself) and...also a scarf for Mitsuhide, because that’s one thing you buy when you don’t know what to buy to a man, and nobody uses ties.
I was getting ready for the Christmas Eve banquet when Ieyasu appeared outside my door, a frown on his face (not unusual, but it was a different kind of frown): “Give me your presents”. I knew better than to argue, and let him in to get the load, following him out.
His pet fawn Wasabi stood tethered to a cart already filled with packages, makeshift antlers on her head. I was surprised to see Ieyasu doing something he was adamant was “too ridiculous” just to “please some woman”.
“Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer...” I began singing on our way to the banquet, Ieyasu glaring at me. “All of the other reindeers...” two voices came from behind us. We both turned around full of disbelief: Mitsuhide was back, grinning like the Cheshire Cat. “Sasuke! Saori!” I threw myself in their arms for a group hug.
“We come bearing presents, but I’ve got the biggest of them all seeing that smile” there was only one man who’d come out with such cheesy lines and somehow make them sound appealing, and I realised they weren’t alone.
Yukimura rolled his eyes at Shingen’s greetings, Kenshin looked like he really didn’t want to be there, and Yoshimoto was just captivated by the festive atmosphere. “It’s like seeing the Christmas truce of 1914” I commented to Sasuke.
“We can play football in the morning” he laughed, our banter interrupted by Hideyoshi coming out of the hall to tell Ieyasu and me off for being outdoors so long.
He was both more, and less, angry when he saw that Saori was there, and we made our way inside. Masamune had cooked enough to feed the unexpected guests and, even though it was a new place with different people, it truly felt like a family Christmas, and I even managed to get a kiss under the mistletoe for the very first time.
Thank you for reading. Merry Christmas if you celebrate 🎄

This isn't a full list, and it will continue to be updated as my interests grow.
I will only be listing the fandoms I have posted about or plan to post about or may post about in the future or I just like it so much I don't want to leave it off this list.
If you'd like me to post about something in particular, drop me an ask. Make sure to include not just the fandom, but also what about that fandom you want me to write about.
Items in bold are fandoms that I have fanfic or articles about already, or they're getting cooked up. I write multiple things at once. That's just how I do.

A Girl With Spirit: Chapter 5
Journey to the present with Jamie and Claire on Ao3
Jamie and Claire landed in The Royal Oak, hands still clasped together. Ned was closing down the pub, wearing the same Christmas jumper as earlier that evening— “Rucking Around the Christmas Tree” printed around an illustration of rugby players in a scrum in front of a Christmas tree. The band she had left during was packing up their instruments to load into their van.
“Are we…” Claire began, but Jamie finished for her, “in the present, aye.”

Out of all the outlanders, who is the most excited about all things Christmas in a human au?
Other than all of the kids, Chungu and Cheezi for sure! They get so excited at the thought of Christmas, it’s so cute!
Although it DOES get annoying when the two are singing/lip syncing along to Christmas carols like this
-They also look at Janja during “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” cuz that’s how Janja sometimes acts during the holidays djhdjrheh
#thanks for the ask!#these two are the definition of christmas spirit#they LOVE christmas and everything about it#tlg outlanders#the lion guard

The Vintage Calendar [AO3] by @thetranquilteal
With the ending of her contract with the UK Armed Forces, all Claire Beauchamp wants for Christmas is to enjoy a quiet holiday in Scotland with her long-term boyfriend Frank Randall. While visiting with close friends, however, Claire is gifted with a vintage advent calendar that sets her life on a path she never expected... one that leads to Northern Badgers star, James Fraser.
Modern Day AU loosely based on the Netflix Christmas movie ‘The Holiday Calendar’. New chapter posted every day!
Day 10: Carols
Claire studied the calendar's latest offering. It was a dainty little character, eyes closed and mouth wide open with an open book in hand. A caroler. How sweet.

This memory tale of 9-year-old Buddy (Jude Hill) growing up in Northern Ireland’s turbulent capital city is sculpted from Branagh’s own life as a son of Belfast, where everyone knows his name. Hill, 11, a competitive dancer turned actor, delivers one of the best and most beguiling performances by a child ever captured on film.
Branagh shows how Buddy’s happy childhood, and by extension his, was shattered in 1969 by rioting in streets. The Troubles, a conflict Buddy barely understands between Protestants loyal to the U.K. and Catholics eager to rebel and join Ireland, set neighbor against neighbor.
Buddy’s Protestant parents, played to perfection by Catriona Balfe and Jamie Dornan, wanted to live in peace. But the shocking brutality, vividly filmed by Branagh, forced the family to leave their beloved home for the safety of England. The decision devastated Buddy.
And that interrupted childhood is the core of this gentle giant of a movie. For all the violence, it’s the bond between Buddy and his Ma and Pa, his older brother (Lewis McAskie), and his grandparents, played by Judi Dench and Ciarán Hinds—both sublime— that holds you in thrall.
Reports say Balfe, Dornan, Dench and Hinds—each of Irish descent— will all compete for supporting Oscars. If so, good luck picking a winner. Five-time nominee Dench, who won for “Shakespeare in Love,” is such a witty, wicked wonder as Gran that she’s impossible to resist.
Hinds, a master performer too long underrated, is hilarious and heartbreaking. And Dornan, free of the s&m sex trap of the “50 Shades of Grey” trilogy, builds on his virtuoso turn on “The Fall” to show an actor of ferocity and feeling as he invests Pa, often absent from home for construction work in England, with simmering emotion and quiet strength.
Balfe, the radiant star of “Outlander,” is—in a word—magnificent. She finds revelatory layers in this mother who is held at gunpoint but still holds her family together even as war and trauma pull them apart. If you think Balfe and Dornan, both former models, are incongruously beautiful to play working-class parents, you underestimate how Buddy sees them.
And “Belfast,” shot in black-and-white during lockdown, sees the world through Buddy’s eyes. There’s no way to watch “Belfast” without letting Buddy’s family become your own. Music floods the soundtrack. There are eight classic songs from Belfast firebrand Van Morrison, plus a newbie (“Down to Joy”) and exhilarating scenes of parents and grandparents dancing.
“Belfast” belongs to Branagh, 60, who doesn’t act in the film but whose presence is felt in every frame. Except for a shot of Buddy reading a comic book about Thor— Branagh directed Marvel’s 2011 film version—there is no reference to the A-lister he’d become from 1989’s “Henry V” to his upcoming reprise as Belgian detective Hercule Poirot in “Death On the Nile.”
And yet the influence of the arts is palpable. The screen lights up with color when Buddy’s family sits down to watch the dinosaurs and Raquel Welch in “One Million Years B.C.” and the flying car of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” or attend a stage performance of “A Christmas Carol.”
It took half a century for Branagh, who was knighted in 2012, to put his young life on screen. The wait was worth it. If anything, the movie feels too short at 97 minutes, rushing by when we most want it to let the space between words resonate.
Above all, “Belfast” is infused with love for the home Branagh had to leave behind. It’s his best and most bracingly personal film, a transporting, coming-of-age classic that’s relatable to anyone who’s ever had to say goodbye to childhood.
Remember… there’s no way to watch “Belfast” without letting Buddy’s family become your own. — Peter Travers
