Nothing to see here, just western europe returning to its roots and having a pogrom to pass the time.
If "You helped the Jew" as a reason for assaulting someone isn't chilling, disturbing, or upsetting to you, you have lost your ability to have empathy for human beings regardless of their ethnicity.
“You helped the Jew”

I have seen multiple posts going around making fun of, or minimizing, what happened in Amsterdam from antizionists. So I want to give a timeline of what happened.
Pre the attack:
Before people arrived in Amsterdam for the football match, there were people organizing the pogrom. Stuff like wanting to steal jews passports, were shared on social media. Yes, the word used on social media was jews not Israelis. The main people organizing the attack were arab and muslim. We do not know at this point if all the attackers were arab and muslim, but we do know that at least a majority were. This fact does not mean that all Muslims and arabs want to harm all jews, however the extremism which lead to the attack and antisemitisms place in it can and should be talked about.
The Israeli government got wind of this attack and warned the Netherlands Police, who decided to not do anything to protect jews.
This did not happen because the Israeli team lost, despite what certain people are saying.
Day before or of the attack (unconfirmed which day it was):
Once in Amsterdam, there were some fans who did tear down Palestinian flags and chant a racist anti arab chant. Whilst this is still very much racist and should be labeled as such as viewed as bad, it's not out of character for for European football culture, and has happened before with other fans which have not lead to them being hunted down. The pogrom was pre planned and still not a proportional response.
The attack:
Jews were hunted down, beaten, run over, and many more things. They were also forced to say "free gaza" and "free Palestine"
The attack harmed far more than just those who were racist. They attacked jews and anyone they perceived as Jewish indiscriminately.
Jews were saved by an Arab Israeli football player speaking to them loudly in Arabic so people assumed they were arab Israeli or just Arab.
A Greek man was attacked because he could not prove to the attackers that he wasn't jewish and was in fact Greek.
A brittish man was punched because he helped save jews. And when he told his attackers that he was brittish and not israeli or jewish (not sure if he wasn't, but he told his attackers he wasn't), he was told "but you helped a jew"
Jewish businesses were also broken into.
How and why it is antisemitic:
If at this point, you still cannot see why it was an antisemitic attack, let's recap.
• It was a planned attack on jews, not Israelis, jews. And it was planned before any racist things happened.
● jews were spared if they were perceived to be non jews, including being perceived as arab Israeli and non jews were attacked for being perceived as jews and for helping jews
• Jewish businesses were broken into. If it was about breaking into zionist businesses, ones own by non Jewish zionists also would've been broken into, but they were not.
• Non Israeli jews were attacked
It is antisemitic, as the targets of the attack were specifically jews. It was not revenge for palestine or for racist comments.
Israel intervened and flew people out of Amsterdam as it was no longer safe for jews in the city. Not because they lost the match.

why are jews skeptical of antizionism? a guide for gentiles
I'd be ok with the notion Israel wasn't needed if y'all could be trusted not to fuck it up when Jews needed somewhere to flee. But last time (to put it politely) you fucked it up real bad, and six million Jews died.
Fundamentally, antizionism is asking Jews to put our lives in the hands of the same people who saw us screaming for help, who knew that death awaited us, and did all of nothing. Nada. Nil.
(As demonstrated by the recent Amsterdam pogrom, Israel is totally ok and often proactive in flying Jews out. Around the same time as Palestinians were being exiled, Jews from all over the Arab world were being driven out in similar numbers. The reason you don't hear about that refugee crisis? Israel accepted them, without complaint or delay or objection, just urgency.)
Pardon us for being a bit skeptical of your assertions that it won't happen again when a constant theme throughout our history has been it happening again.
This is a slightly modified form of an older, longer, post's tags/tldr.

Reblogging to drive the message home!
AMSTERDAM. WAS. A. POGROM!
A POGROM!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
Amsterdam was a Pogrom!
How many times does it need to be said before it sinks in? How many times before it is seen for what it is?
How long does it take for people to open their eyes? Wash their ears out?
Stop justifying Antisemitism! Stop justifying a fucking pogrom!

I keep remembering the fact that Elie Wiesel wrote “Night” in Yiddish first. And the original title was “And the World Remained Silent”
Why does that fact keep popping into my head?
Oh…no reason.

This has been a horrible and exhausting day to be a Jew in the Netherlands
I am scared and tired and hurting and completely overwhelmed and I havent heard from my friend and I want to know they are safe and Im going to hope they are.
Im just glad that as far as we can tell nobody died, the missing people have all been found, and the injured are being discharged from the hospitals to go home.
Baruch hashem....
I have to be grateful for the helpers. For Mayor Halsema (of Amsterdam) and the public prosecutor working with the Israeli government and public to clear things up and ensure the people responsible for planning and executing the pogrom get charged to the fullest extent of Dutch law. For the head of the police union yelling at the police chief and stepping up to ensure that security got increased at Jewish sites. For El Al donating two planes to evacuate people, for the first responders who rushed the injured to hospitals, and for the security staff who put aside any personal feelings to guard the hotels and airport so there was a pathway out.
We are still here
We will outlive this
Am yisrael chai

just saw a post complaining because somebody pointed out that the jews in amsterdam being thrown into canals in near-freezing temperatures, and that was too whiny. maybe its because i live in a place with very cold and wet winters, but here if you threw somebody into the river when it was 40ºf outside you would 100% be charged with at the very least assault, at most attempted murder (depends on the lawyer). hypothermia is very real, and i know some people are stupid and think that its just an Ye Olden Days thing, but nature has not grown any kinder or any less indiscriminate in recent decades or centuries
like its absolutely wild seeing people downplay the effect that the environment has on the human body. every time someone says something stupid like "its literally not that bad its just cold" i know theyd die almost instantly if left to their own devices in nature. thats the type of person to wear cotton socks in the winter and not know why its dangerous. its kinda funny how confident they are about it though you gotta be honest
#is this too granola for tumblr#[respectfully] i know a lot of yall dont go outside#amsterdam pogrom#antisemitism#me posting#shoshana speaks

I’m a Jew in NYC. I’ve witnessed, multiple times, large groups of people marching down streets, chanting for the deaths of my people and tearing down posters of hostages and other 10/07 victims. More than once, people have burned both Israeli and American flags. They’ve spray-painted swastikas everywhere and harassed, even attacked numerous Jews all over the city since 10/07. Most recently, I sat on the subway while two people shouted about how all Jews Israelis are baby-killing imperialists, then watched other people willingly take their flyers.
I’m not the protesting type, but I’ve personally attended a completely apolitical memorial gathering, because I needed the catharsis, where even then, protesters wouldn’t let us grieve in peace.
Isn’t it SO WEIRD that, never ONCE did it occur to me to attack any of them, run them over, throw them in the Hudson River, stamp on their faces while they lay bleeding on the ground, demand their passports, attack NUMEROUS OTHER people who weren’t involved. Not even a fleeting thought of such acts.
It’s almost like… I am not a completely unhinged psychopath 🤔 It’s almost like, people are responsible for their own actions. It’s really not hard at all.

"The Amsterdam attack wasn't about jews it was about racists and zionists"
How about you eat a bag of fucking dicks. Israelis have left. Those shouting the racist chants have left. There is no way you can excuse this.
It is antisemitism. Just like the first pogrom. The attacks have never been about antizionism it has been about harming jews

(Warning for bitter and dark Jewish humor)
Boy, it sure is inspiring to see Europeans engaging in ancestral traditions that they'd been forced to give up due to liberalizing times! Afterall, this is literally what that 'Reject modernity, embrace tradition' slogan was talking about!

Melhem Asad is one of the Righteous Among the Nations.
When the Dutch police were standing idly by -- or worse, aiding and abetting terrorists -- and allowing Jews to be violently pogrommed, Melhem was RISKING HIS LIFE to protect Jews.
The Amsterdam police colluded with these terrorists to allow this pogrom to happen on the 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht. The Netherlands allowed a pogrom against Jews to take place in Amsterdam, the same city where the Dutch sent over 100,000 Jews, including Anne Frank, to their deaths in Nazi concentration camps.
Melhem helped protect our people from that attempted massacre and hostage taking.
Mr. Rogers once told us, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping'."
Melhem is a helper. He shielded our people and helped rescue them from kidnapping and murder. He is a hero.
