just saw a post complaining because somebody pointed out that the jews in amsterdam being thrown into canals in near-freezing temperatures, and that was too whiny. maybe its because i live in a place with very cold and wet winters, but here if you threw somebody into the river when it was 40ºf outside you would 100% be charged with at the very least assault, at most attempted murder (depends on the lawyer). hypothermia is very real, and i know some people are stupid and think that its just an Ye Olden Days thing, but nature has not grown any kinder or any less indiscriminate in recent decades or centuries

like its absolutely wild seeing people downplay the effect that the environment has on the human body. every time someone says something stupid like "its literally not that bad its just cold" i know theyd die almost instantly if left to their own devices in nature. thats the type of person to wear cotton socks in the winter and not know why its dangerous. its kinda funny how confident they are about it though you gotta be honest

I hate the terms proship, neutral ship, and antiship. They’re all extremes and I hate them. From what I understand the meanings are

Proship: support all ships no matter what even if they’re comships

Neutral ship: doesn’t have an opinion at all

Antiship: is anti any comship which is outrageous

If y’all don’t know comship just means complex ship or they enjoy more morally grey or imperfect ships. This can include things like human X different intelligent species (like aliens, furries, monsters) which most rational people don’t think is bad. But this can also mean kid X adult, family x family, or victim X abuser

I actually don’t identify as pro, neu, or anti because I think some comships are good and healthy. I think morally grey ships are important in media when done correctly. Especially since a lot of relationships are rocky and not always healthy and it’s good to show that in media. My own ocs personally aren’t in a perfectly healthy relationship because of their own issues. But this should be done respectfully and with care. Abuse shouldn’t be romanticized but people can be romantic outside of the abuse going on just like in real life relationships

But in a pedophilic fan fiction or art or an incest fanfic or art there is no such thing as a loving part of it. The relationship in itself is abuse because a minor being with a child is abuse and family members being together is abuse. It’s not healthy for anyone involved to romanticize relationships like that and frankly can effect reality no matter how you spin it because it’s representing something as normal to kids.

Right now a lot of neutrals, antis, and probably a lot of pro shippers are agreeing but that’s where my point really starts

The term “proship” and “anti ship” are too vague. If you say you’re proship you sound like you defend media where children are harmed. I understand the meaning is being proshipping and minding your business but that’s still what you look like and frankly that’s what the term does. If you’re pro everything then that means you’re pro the harmful stuff too

And the term “antiship” suggest that you’re anti shipping in general or anti any complex ship which is also unhealthy for us all because morally grey topics need brought up. Antis also are very very commonly okay with harassment when it comes to proshippers

And neutral ship is basically just saying you don’t have a opinion at all which is harmful because you’re suggesting you’re okay with the harm done on both sides. And I understand some people who are neutral ship agree with me and don’t just not care but I feel like majority is the former not the latter (based on what I’ve seen)

Also disclaimer if you’re neutral because of mental health or because you have better things to deal with that’s valid but identifying as neutral ship does put you in it and i instead suggest staying out of it entirely

So idk maybe we should make a term for the middle. I had a few ideas maybe something like middleship or intentship (intentship meaning enjoying or allowing all ships as long as the intentions are good and are not to romanticize trauma or abuse)

Idk everyone can share their opinions but if I see another proshipper say fiction doesn’t effect reality I’m gonna scream and if I see another anti shipper call all morally grey ships bad as if they done killed their grandma I’ll go insane

I got no problem with box eating, it's that I rarely see theon box eating in fics in a way that doesnt make it his sole function. A lot of theonsa fics go into 'I exist to serve Sansa I owe her my every thang' worship porn that it gets tiring. It's like theon is both utterly desexed while existing to serve another persons sexual satisfaction? Like on godddd a lot of these fics have theon going down on Sansa with thoughts like 'it doesnt matter if I dont have a dick we got one pussy between us and I just wanna serve that I dont need anything' and its honestly so damaging like if I dont laugh I'll cry. Theon loses all loyalty to his sister and his family to become Stark property (let's be real) because he 'realizes' that the Starks were the only ones who loved him and he has to spend the rest if his 'broken' (implied in fic) life serving them??? And then it's like dying or having his dick chopped off and entering into a position of servitude suddenly makes Theon zen and at peace with everything, like he has no more struggles outside of being worthy of Sansa and the Starks. Again, in fic. Like Theon has suddenly become a higher being while ultimately still being enslaved to this weird idea of like repenting. As far as I'm concerned, Theon is already redeemed he doesnt need to serve a further sentence and then fic writers make this punishment somehow some kind of honour theon chose???

Like theon can eat all the pussy he wants but acting like he doesnt have needs and a story of his own and an arc of his own and conflict of his own??? Is a disservice to him and its frankly not the kind of fic I wanna read. Writers really disempower theon further in fic and act like hes actually empowered??? If I dont laugh I'll cry lmaooooo

I ship theonsa where both characters are fully realised people with their own problems but also who can exist beyond their trauma. I'm not here for 'we're in love coz we share the same trauma' coz that's such a shallow and generalised look at this relationship. A lot of the theonsa fics are trying to work some worship angle in a way that's frankly dehumanising, turning Sansa into some holy relic and Theon into the penitent who worships her. I'm into that dynamic when its present as the toxic power trip that it is, especially in other ships where someone in a superior power position is being taken down (a deserved) peg or two. So Sansa stepping on Jon(or Petyr or whoever) a bit, I can get with it.

But Sansa stepping a dude who has BEEN stepped on being painted as this romantic thing is legit sickening. Can theon eat box and still be his own person? Idk fic writers, can he??? Does that reality exist for yall??? Let me know coz I ain't seen it from the majority of yall yet.

Actually tbh I've read a few fics where theon and Sansa are both presented respectfully and with thoughtfulness so this IS possible. But I'm saying the majority of fics dealing with theonsa are on some white woman saint and the eunuch who eats box loyally and without complain trip and I'm not with it.

on “dont ask people’s pronouns, just assume based on presentation” vs “DO ask people’s pronouns, for many people presentation =/= pronouns”

i know this is going to sound #cringe to so many of yall but just bear with me but one of my instructors this semester and last semester always introduces themself by stating that they’re non-binary and use they/them pronouns and then opens the rest of the room to go around stating your name, major, whatever else, AND your pronouns. the first semester i had them i was kind of uncomfortable with it so i just said “call me whatever” because i didn’t want to out myself to a room of cis people, and all the other cis people in the room also just said “call me whatever” bc....of course people are going to call them the right pronouns. i actually told people my pronouns at the beginning of every single class (even unprompted) this semester because i couldn’t handle another semester of being misgendered the whole fucking time. and i STILL get called she/her. 

i run the risk of really ruffling some feathers here but this really needs to be said. i get why a lot of trans people worry that being asked their pronouns and being outted or that the reason people are asking in the first place is because people are assuming you’re trans but gnc people like me don’t have the choice of being outted if we don’t want to put up with being misgendered. like...”passing” privilege is a privilege that a LOT of trans people don’t get, and even trans people who DO pass still get misgendered. of COURSE i understand not wanting to be outted. of COURSE i understand that y’all want validation and someone assuming your correct pronouns based on your appearance can be so fucking validating but yall have to understand that just straight up a lot of us don’t get to have that. ever. 

i don’t have a choice other than to be out as trans if i want to avoid being misgendered even 70% of the time. me being the ONLY one who had to specify my pronouns out of a room of people saying “just use whatever,” me having to be the only one in a classroom full of cis people to be the ONLY one to state my pronouns because i’m going to be the ONLY one who’s going to get misgendered if i don’t. people asking my pronouns respectfully doesn’t make me feel polarized. having to come out EVERY single time i introduce myself outside of an environment that recognizes pronouns =/= appearance because if i don’t i get misgendered makes me feel polarized. not to mention the fact that some (binary and non-binary) trans people literally can’t present the way they want because they can’t be out in certain aspect of their life. if we keep letting the idea that p/ns = appearance bleed into LGBT spaces where does that leave them? 

i understand why there are trans people who find it incredibly invalidating to be asked for their pronouns like i get it but that system is just so polarizing to gnc people.......like the fact of the matter is just that SO many of us only ever get misgendered when people assume our pronouns and don’t ask, and having to correct people puts us in such an unfair position. 

like call me a cringey non binary gnc butch freak or whatever but i’d rather some steven universe bitch assume that of me than cis people all of a sudden thinking they have the right to assign us our pronouns based on whether or not we pass because WE told them to :/ and besides the fact that normalizing the practice of asking someone’s pronouns just as you’d ask someone’s name does nothing but normalize people having identities that don’t match their presentation? 

gnc people exist and we don’t get to have passing privilege and thats that on that lmao
