Hey, everyone! So, I just wanna say that I’ll be doing a crossover between Kingdom Hearts and Amphibia since I managed to binge watch it and it’s really great! It takes place post KH3 and it’s gonna be about 50 chapters, but that may change in the future. It’s called Hearts of Amphibia.

Was this the original s3 finale? Because it sure felt like it. The panic and urgency as they try to save Nic during the hospital being shutdown. Thankfully Mina & AJ continue to be the cutest to ease the tension.

@synchronisedampersand the individual tracks are both on YouTube! most (if not all) of Amphibia's score has been uploaded by TJ Hill, the composer of the OST. the score excerpts are uploaded per episode (an episode here being defined as a full 22 minutes, so for example Little Frogtown/Hopping Mall is one episode). people have clipped out certain parts from these excerpts, which is the case for the two tracks I used here. the clip for Marcy's Truth can be found here, and the clip for Anne's theme in Escape to Amphibia can be found here.

thus far I haven't been able to find a composition of Sasha's theme that matches the other two girls' themes in this, meaning I don't know if there's a moment in the show where Sasha's theme plays with those specific choir vocals. there very well could be, I just haven't had time to sit down and comb through the soundtrack to that extent. it would be very exciting if there is an instance of it though!!

okay so I'm gonna attempt to sound a little more coherent this time around. in Escape to Amphibia, during the scene when Anne activates her powers and enlarges the portal, the music that plays sounds familiar - that's because the choir vocals we hear are the same exact ones that play during Marcy's Truth in True Colors. that alone is enough to be insane. but first I wrongly assumed that the music in Escape is a reprise of Marcy's Truth, when it's not.

Marcy's Truth is made up of those choir vocals and Marcy's theme playing VERY DESPAIRINGLY underneath those vocals. in Escape, it's the choir vocals over top of a simplistic, pitch-shifted version of Anne's theme. and it's structured in such a way where I wondered... hey, are these melodies meant to mirror each other? can they be overlaid and actually work in tandem?

I'm not the best at music mixing, but all I did here was shift the tempos of both tracks EVER so slightly, line them up accordingly, and added a fade in to Escape's beginning when it jumps in. Escape's melody is shorter, so it ends first and fades back into Marcy's Truth (note how seamless the fade out of Escape is. it is unedited.). the blend of the two tracks starts at around 14 seconds in and ends at around 30 seconds

anyway. my point is that when you put Marcy and Anne's themes together like this. it turns out that they sing

So just a bit of subtle, understated character development I haven't seen anyone comment on.

Early in Amphibia, it's made a plot point that Hop Pop's cooking is absolutely atrocious. He had no talent for the art of preparing food.

However, we also got to see that at least one of the reason his food was so utterly detestable(even for Amphibia standards), was that he feverishly clung to an old cookbook from his ancestors, that sucked.

Rather than ever try something new, he kept making recipes that were either inherently bad, or he just did not have the talent to make work.

However, later during "The Dinner", this has changed so completely that his grandkids cant even remember anymore that Hop Pop used to be a shitty cook.

So what changed? Well, Hop Pop's entire character development through the series is about him balancing his roots, with trying new things, and so, after "Little Frogtown" served as a turning point, Hop Pop finally was able to let go of something that clearly didn't work(His old cookbook) and embrace new ways of cooking, and as it turned out, he eventually became a good preparer of food.

It's a nice, cute little bit of character development.

Amphibia just likes to ambush fans with the feels, don’t they?

First we got a comic film noir parody about Hop Pop learning not to live in the past (and Anne getting herself and her friends kicked out of a video arcade)

Then we get a story about Anne and Sprig teaming up to take down a mother-daughter duo in a shopping cart demolition derby, which gets sad around the time we find out why Priscilla the Killa wants that teapot so badly and just goes downhill from there

i can’t believe hop pop straight up killed a dude in today’s amphibia and they didn’t even try to deny it
