The Korra as Noatak and Tarrlock's sister has me thinking... damn, I can see a lot of resentment that's not baseless. For sure, their poor mom had her reasons for not running with them from Yakone, but I feel part of them would still feel resentful for it. But now apparently she did that with Korra, when she couldn't do it for them. That must be genuinely rage-inducing.

Oh absolutely. Even with both Tarrlok and Noatak as adults, with all the perspective and emotional understanding that gives them, yeah, there is going to be that resentment. And I think it's going to be harder for Amon to deal with than for Tarrlok. I get the feeling Tarrlok is used to dealing with resentment, but Amon likes to channel all of his trauma into ideology. My dude, sometimes the personal is not political.

The Truth

I never liked the reveal that Amon's scar is just makeup. It's too easy. Too Scooby Doo. Not to mention crazy impractical on his side.

What if Amon was actually scarred, having done it to himself to conceal his identity and family history before starting the Equalist movement? What if his resemblance to his abusive father was so painful for him that he not only disfigured himself for the cause, but for himself every time he looked in the mirror?

This also gives him an opportunity to reveal more to his Lieutenant. The way I see it, the only thing he didn't confide in Lieu was that he was a bender. He would have told him everything, if he could.
