Kannauj Rape Case: Nawab Singh Yadav Samajwadi Party leader arrested for attempting to rape minor alleges conspiracy

Samajwadi Party leader Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested on Monday for allegedly attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl. On Monday, the Uttar Pradesh police received a distress call on the 112 helpline number at around 1:30 am. “Last night around 1.30 am, a call was received on UP 112 wherein a girl said that she had been stripped and an attempt of assault had been made on her,” said Kannauj Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar Anand. After arriving at the scene, the police rescued the teen and arrested Nawab Singh Yadav, who was found in an “objectionable” condition, he stated. During questioning, the girl told the police that her paternal aunt took her to Yadav’s residence as she needed a job opportunity. A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO Act, and further investigation is underway. Calling it a “capitalist conspiracy,” Nawab Singh Yadav stated, “This is a capitalist conspiracy. The victim denies this, but despite that, she will undergo a medical examination. Gartex Texprocess India 2024, Mumbai demonstrated innovation and growth in textile and garment industry

The 3rd Mumbai edition of Gartex Texprocess India which concluded on 3 February, turned out to be one of the most recognised ‘one-stop’ platforms for selling and sourcing exciting and innovative products in the garment and textile manufacturing sector.

The event marked the presence of Shri Chandrakant Patil, Hon’ble Minister of Textile, Higher Education and Technical Education, Parliamentary Affairs State Border Defense and Shri Virendra Singh (IAS) Secretary Textiles, Maharashtra Government along with other industry stalwarts.

In the 3rd Mumbai edition of Gartex Texprocess India, 105 exhibitors participated and 8,309 visitors explored the show floor which displayed cutting-edge garment manufacturing machinery, fabrics, advanced and new-age smart technology, textile printing solutions and others.

Gartex Texprocess India also hosted knowledge-sharing sessions – ‘Gartex TALKS’ on day one and ‘Denim TALKS’ on day two. At ‘Gartex TALKS’, Mr Ramesh Gosai, Principle Consultant, R R Gosai & Associates spoke on "Ease of Doing Business: In Garment Manufacturing”. He briefed the attendees on what are the challenges faced by people in starting a business in the textile industry and how they can overcome those hurdles and establish their business successfully.

‘Denim TALKS’ conducted four sessions to discuss the latest trends and landscape of the Denim industry. It began with a fireside chat on the ‘Denim Landscape’ between Mr Amit Gugnani, Senior Partner, Technopak Advisors and Mr Aamir Akhtar, Group President and CEO, Jindal Worldwide Limited. In the next session Mr Manuj Kanchan, Division Director - Central Asia, Jeanologia SL shared a presentation on ‘Water Era is Over, Air is the Future’. “Stressed that Government attaches the highest importance to the case.” FM Jai Shankar on Indian ex-naval officers sentenced in Qatar

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar Prasad today met the families of the 8 Ex Navy officers who have been sentenced to death in Qatar.

Mr Jaishankar told the press that he will "continue to make all efforts to secure their release."

"Met this morning with the families of the 8 Indians detained in Qatar. Stressed that Government attaches the highest importance to the case. Fully share the concerns and pain of the families. Underlined that Government will continue to make all efforts to secure their release. Will coordinate closely with the families in that regard," he tweeted in X, formerly known as Twitter.

The group of 8 men included decorated officers of the Navy who once were leading warships for India. They, however, later took employment at Dahra Global Technologies and Consultancy Services which is a private firm providing training and related services to Qatar's armed forces.

As per the inside sources, some of these officers were working on highly sensitive projects revolving around Italian technology-based midget submarines with stealth characteristics.

All the eight officers are accused of spying.

In its statement previously, the Minister of External Affairs said that they were shocked by the news and would talk with Qatar's high authorities. "We are deeply shocked by the verdict of death penalty and are awaiting the detailed judgment. We are in touch with the family members and the legal team, and we are exploring all legal options," the ministry had said.

The 8 officers in question include Capt Navtej Singh Gill, Capt Birendra Kumar Verma, Capt Saurabh Vasisht, Cdr Amit Nagpal, Cdr Purnendu Tiwari, Cdr Sugunakar Pakala, Cdr Sanjeev Gupta and Sailor Ragesh.

The Sister of one of the 8 accused has also reached out to PM Modi earlier in June, urging him to help with the case. On ‘X’, she wrote, "These Ex-Navy officers are the pride of the

nation & again I request our Hon'ble Prime Minister with folded hands that it is high time that they all are brought back to India immediately without any further delay," read her post, tagged to PM Modi and Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh.
