Royal Secret Agent / Amhaeng Eosa (2020) Episode #1.1
The drama tells the story of royal secret agents in the Joseon Dynasty. They are the eyes and ears of the king, the mouth of the people, and the hidden heroes who guard justice. Kim Myung-soo plays a royal secret agent who works in the library during the day and transforms into a roaming swindler at night. He entered the palace after placing first in the state examination but is keener on martial arts. Kwon Na-ra plays a smart and beautiful Gisaeng who has no less courage than any man. Lee Tae-hwan plays a thief who, despite his fierce appearance, saves people from harm and later joins his brother in the secret inspection works.

Amhaeng-eosa as Justice Korea, Korean Legend
Justice is power wielded with both intelligence and impartiality. It is making decisions with all the facts and accepting the consequences of any choice made. It is punishment of the corrupt and promotion of the deserving.
Upright: Harmony, balance, equality, virtue, honor Reversed: Bias, false accusations, intolerance, abuse, dishonesty
The Justice card is about making decisions, and being aware of their consequences. It’s about truth, impartiality, and balance. Where wicked deeds are punished and good ones rewarded. I picked the Amhaeng-eosa, or Undercover royal inspectors of the Joseon era of Korea. The Amhaeng-eosa were real historical figures, who would secretly enter various provinces and towns to investigate the goings on. Afterwards, they would reveal themselves (with their horse requisition medallion) , and had the power to punish the corrupt and promote the deserving. While real, they were popularized in dramas and literature even during the Joseon period, so in some ways, they became mythologized. They represented power wielded with intelligence and impartiality. And reminded people that justice could be served to anyone at anytime
The Tarot of the Divine: a 78 card deck with little White Book English French Russian German
Beneath the Moon: A hardcover book with a brief retelling of fairytales myths and legends from around the world English Dutch Russian Spanish German Italian
Tarot of the Divine Handbook: A workbook with symbolism breakdowns of each card English French

In addition to the deck and books, I also have prints in my store

Pull:
Justice; represented by "Amhaeng-eosa" a Korean Legend.
This legend tells the story of an Amhaengosa ("secret royal inspector") during the Joseon period. This story is about a man named Yi Mongryong who fell in love with a beautiful and highly sought after woman named Chunhyang. When he left for Seoul to become a amhaengosa, he left his wife and she gave him a ring to remember each other. When he left, a new government official took over the area and not only was it poorly managed but he also wanted to pursue Chunhyang, and took her as a prisoner. While that happened, Yi Mongryong completed his training and returned to the town undercover to learn about all of the new rulers wrongdoings. He was able to confront the new ruler and punish him as an Amhaengosa. After that, he tried to approach his wife but she barely recognized him and refused to believe who he was. Until he showed her the ring he kept after all this time, then she realized who he was. And they lived happily ever after!

I normally don’t post spreads but here’s a spread I pulled after hearing about the successful verdict.
10 of coins
Judgement (reversed)
7 of swords (reversed)
Justice
Empress
10 of coins is a sign of ancestral legacies as well as success. In this case, we have centuries of inequality that infects the majority and minority groups. (How does one break the cycle of their abusive ancestors? How does one ensure change for their descendants to have a better life?) Judgement still means endings but reversed it means to not get complacent, the hardships are not yet over. The monkey king has revolted against the Mandate of Heaven (God) but still needs to keep fighting, and keep moving forward until he attains buddhahood.
The coyote in most Native American tales, is the trickster. 7 of swords is similar to 5 of swords, the difference is that with 7 there is a sense of self-deception. When 7 of swords is reversed, the player is held accountable and truths are revealed. Convicted murderer, Derek chauvin, wasn’t allowed to get away with his crime. The Amhaeng-eosa (secret royal enforcer) were men chosen at random by the king/emperor to investigate and report wrongdoings, it was them to weigh the sides to come to an impartial and fair decision. Justice means weighing all sides, balancing logic and emotion to come to a decision. However living on that knife’s edge is tortuous as you await for the results.
Tarot of the Divine depicts the empress as the Divine Mother/Virgin Mary/Our Lady of Guadeloupe, aka the nurturing motherly love. It is the unconditional love for mankind. (I hope mr George Floyd is resting peacefully in his mother’s arms in heaven.) and ultimately it’s our agape love for our fellow man that helped bring a successful verdict.
Also if anyone protests tonight, stay safe.

Card of the Day - March 21, 2021
Card of the Day – March 21, 2021
Justice – Amhaeng-Eosa – Korea, Korean Legend Initial thoughts: I’ve got this card before. Reversed I’m getting things like prejudice, or unfairness. The book says this card is Justice, a power wielded with both intelligence and impartiality. It gives the following meanings: Bias, false accusations, intolerance, abuse, dishonesty. My final thoughts, I will have to be on the lookout today for…

the important parts of history are often gruesome and difficult to look at. its important to know about bad shit that happened because it's vital and part of our social responsibility to prevent atrocities from occurring again, and to remember people who were or are affected by them. but sometimes i really wish i had a dedicated time of the week where i can learn just about amelio robles ávila, an openly trans man accepted by his friends and family who took no shit. or joseon korea era amhaeng-eosa, a group of undercover agents during joseon era korea who would integrate with the common people and their concerns in order to root out corrupt officials.
theres a lot of cool stuff id like to learn about in an official capacity and i think it would help coumter how awful shit can be day to day without distracting from it. i dont know!
i wish there was a way to take a class on learning good things. history thats forgotten but still strong and important. history that seems miniscule but still touches the heart. things about the world that make you happy to be hear.

Mokona: It’s Sakura’s feather! Yangban: You were able to defeat my magic! Then you must be Amhaeng-eosa. Syaoran: Let them down. Yangban: So they told the government about me. Wait, even if they did, there’s still a good chance that I can defeat the Amhaeng-eosa, too.

Suou: It seems that most of the power that the Yangban suddenly obtained was used to make sure that other users of magic could never enter the town. Akira: I guess he was more afraid of power from outside the town than power from within.
