I don't usually talk about celebrities; artists, when I do, and I'm keenly aware that one needn't be a good person to be a hell of a heartwrenching artist. But Peter S. Beagle has written a few of my favorite things in the world, he's an excellent singer and filker, and this Twitter thread was dreadfully important to me. I don't want it going away as Twitter becomes Shitter, because it's so often bad news, isn't it? It's important to me to share trans joy.

#QOTD Have you read any author's books for the first time this year? 📚 📚 I've read 23 books written by 9 different authors so far this year. Except for one, all other authors were new to me. I was reading their books for the first time. The one exception was Midnight Sun. Obviously I've read the Twilight series so Stephanie Meyer wasn't new to me. This Splintered Silence by Kayla Olson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kayla absolutely blew my mind once again with this one.

An amazing story with great characters and lots of twists, lies and secrecy.

I'd recommend this to anyone who loves dystopian or sci-fi, I'd also recommend her other book The Sandcastle Empire - her first book which I adored 😍

If someone had asked me a few weeks ago, what was my most embarrassing moment, I would have mentioned the time I got my period right as I was about to pick up my diploma at my middle school graduation. It didn’t help the fact that my pants were beige so everyone at the event confirmed that I was a becoming a lady. Even though my boobs made people think the contrary. I remember my mom telling me that it was normal for that sort of things to happen but I was too busy blocking the look that my classmates had. But if someone were to ask me right now, I would probably say that this exact moments tops everything.

“Towel” I gasp, pointing out at the white fabric lying between our feet, while using the other hand to cover my eyes.

“Y/N-”

“TOWEL, Alex” I shout again, pushing myself away from Alex’s very naked chest. Very firm and strong naked chest. Focus, Y/N.

“If you just open your eyes, you would notice that I’m actually wearing underwear” Alex mocks me as I feel him pick up the towel from the floor.

“I don’t want to notice anything, thank you very much” I turn around, still covering my eyes.

“Don’t get sassy with me” He pushes the hands away from my eyes, so I move my gaze to the ceiling. “You are the one who forgot how to knock”

“Who doesn’t lock a door?” I protest as I watch him with the corner of my eyes as he reaches for his pijama pants that are spread on the bed.

“A person who believes his roommate knows the basic concept of knocking” I finally look at him completely but immediately regret it as he’s still missing a shirt. “At least I had my underwear on, or you would’ve seen quite the show”

“You know what? I’m just gonna go” I toss the shirt back in my bag, completely ignoring Alex as I walk out of the room.

“Tomorrow we have to wake up early if we want to enjoy the beach” Gen tries to speak as she takes a bite of her burger.

“We have the whole day” Dee grunts as she stretches her neck. “We had a flight today and the guys decided to play WWE in the water. Give us a break”

“Yeah, I’m exhausted” I mutter, tossing the remaining bread at my plate.

Vic, Dee, Gen and I are sitting outside, in the little deck as the guys are watching something on the TV. They mentioned something about a match or whatever. Also, the kids’ batteries finally gave out because as soon as they ate, they all just fell asleep in the tent they build.

“Fine but everyone has to be up before ten so we can all have breakfast together” Gen gives in, knowing there’s no way she is going to fight us on this one.

The glass door that leads to the house suddenly slides open as Alex pokes his head. I don’t even look at him because I already feel tge embarrassment reach my face. “Uh, can I grab another burger?”

“Sure, hon” Vic smiles warmly as I keep my eyes focused on the plate in front of me.

Alex disappears behind the doors so I finally look up only to find Gen frowning at me. “What’s up with you?”

“Me? What? I don’t know what you are talking about” I try to act as naturally as I can but I know I’m almost too obvious.

“Yeah, you’ve been avoiding Alex the whole night, and you are usually checking him out a lot” Danneel teases me, Vic and Gen nodding in agreement .

“I do not” I gasp, frowning as the girls just roll their eyes at me.

“Oh come on, you always look at him as if you want to see him naked” Vic adds which makes me spit the water I was trying to drink.

“What? Naked? No! What?” I blur out as I feel my cheeks getting warm. “No one is seeing anyone naked! No!”

“Wait” Gen stares at me and then her eyes open up so much, I think they are going to pop out. “You saw him naked!”

“No!” I basically jump in my own seat as they all look at me, waiting to explain myself. “I mean.. I forgot he was in the bathroom. And I don’t think he was naked, I mean he did drop the towel but I think he was wearing his underwear”

“Oh my God” Danneel burst out laughing, letting her head fall back just like Jensen does when he can’t control his laughter. “This is the best trip ever already”

“And here we thought it was going to be hard to play cupid with you two” Vic rejoices as Gen tries to stop Dee from laughing. “You are already making the job for us”

“That’s enough” I try to sound serious but I know I fail miserably. “I’m glad my awkwarness amuses you but I’m not particularly enjoying it myself”

“Oh, sweetie” Dee finally stops giggling, bringing her fingers to her eyes to dry a few tears. “It’s just to epic. Please do give us the details”

“Oh, sorry! I didn’t know you were sleeping” Alex mutters as he closes the door slowly. “I would’ve been more careful”

“Well, at least I was fully dressed” I joke to show him that I’m cool with what happened earlier. “And I wasn’t sleeping, I had to check some emails and stuff”

Alex gives me a soft smile, knowing the accident is behind us. “So, any idea what’s tomorrow’s plan?”

“Just head down to the beach” I reply, looking back at my phone as Alex puts the cover’s away from his bed. “Dee says Jensen needs some tan because Canada is making him too pale”

“Ugh, me too” He gets under the bed, switching the lamp on to bring some light into the room. “I’m milk white”

“Yeah, you looked like Edward Cullen when you came out of the bathroom” I chuckle before realizing what I just said. “I-”

“Don’t worry” Alex laughs along so I feel a little less nervous. “I’ll leave the door unlocked again so you can get a good look after I get some sun”

“I’ll make sure to open the door at the right time” It already happened, we might as well just make a joke out of it.

“You would’ve opened that door a minute before and you would’ve seen the whole thing” He shakes his head a little, grining as I send him a glare.

“We are going to be here for a whole week” I decide to be a little bold, see how far can he take it. “I have more chances”

Alex blushes and I’m afraid I might have taken it too far but then he speaks again. “You are putting too much work just to see me naked”

“I just want to give the tan my stamp of approval” I look up innocently as Alex tries to hold back a smirk.

We stay in silent which I thought it was going to be awkward, but for some reason, it’s actually comforting. Although, I do feel Alex’s eyes on me and I’m really tempted to look back but I know I won’t. Instead I just place my phone on the bed side table and I turn the lamp off. “Good night, Alex”

“Good night, Y/N” I hear him mutter as I pull the covers over me. I close my eyes, trying to fall asleep but with Alex a few feet away from me, it’s really hard to do so.

After a really big and healthy breakfast, which is far from what I’m used to, we head down to the beach. I’m holding a few drinks in my beach bag, while holding Zep with my free hand.

“It suits you” Danneel smiles at me as she looks at Zep who is playing with my earings. “Don’t you think so, Alex?”

I want the ground to open up and swallow me whole. Alex looks up, a humorous smile catching on his face. “Yeah, It does”

“I hate you” I whisper to Danneel as she walks pass me with a smirk on her face, completely ignoring me.

We find the perfect spot with enough space for the kids to play around. A few people look our way but I don’t think they recognized us, it’s just that we are a really big group so it’s hard to be missed. Gen pulls out two big beach rugs, laying them down one next to the other. Everyone moves around, placing the food down, putting the cooler on the groud, and in the case of the JJ, Tom, Shep and West, they start kicking a ball around.

“We are going in the water” Jensen announces once we have settled the whole place down. “We were thinking maybe we could take the twins and Odette with us so you can chill”

“That sounds amazing” Vic smiles up at Jensen and the looks back at her husband. “Take Mason, too. She doesn’t want to play soccer with the other kids”

Misha bends down to pick Mason up, while Jensen picks up Arrow and Jared takes Odette from Gen’s arms.

“Alex, can you take Zep?” Jensen points at Zep with his chin, who is currently sitting between my stretched legs.

Alex bends down, looks up at me shyly beforing moving his arms around Zep. “Excuse me”

“Please don’t drown our kids” Gen kisses Odette’s tiny feet, making her giggle. “Or you’ll have to make them again”

“That goes for you too, Alex” Dee gives him a serious look. “If something happens to Zep, you’ll have to make a georgeous baby and give it to me”

“Maybe Y/N can help out” Misha jumps in, raising his eyebrows at Alex. “She did seemed to be good with kids”

I’m about to protest, when Alex gives me cheeky grin. “Yeah, I think we can give you a beautiful baby”

Okay I was definitely not expecting that. I want to say something back but the my mind is unable to come up with words so instead I’m just left staring at Alex.

I don’t react until the guys are a few feet away, when Gen gives me a slight shake. “What the hell just happened?”

“Alex said he wants to make beautiful babies with you” Vic grins, Gen nodding along with her.

“I seriously hate all of you” I shake my head, looking away as my cheeks betray me.

“Oh, you love us” Danneel waves her hand, totally dismissing my lie. “And you like Alex”

“I do not-”

“Yes, you do, Y/N” Vicky stops me mid sentence. “And he obviously liked you back. You are both young and single, there is nothing wrong with admitting it”

“You guys remind me so much of Jared and me” Gen chuckles as she sits down across from me. “We tried to deny it for so long and look at us now”

“Okay, you don’t necessarily have to marry the guy and have three kids with him” Dee laughs when Gen tries to shove her. “But you do have to try and see what can come out of it”

I bite me lip, trying to gather all the thought in my head.

“Just think about it” Vic grabs my shoulder, giving it a soft squeeze.

“I miss when she wasn’t big enough to eat on her own and I got to feed her” I pout as I watch Odette just stares at me with her hand wrapped around the spoon.

“Tell me about it” Gen sighs as she watches her baby basically throw all the food out of the plate.

After a couple hours of us being baby free, the guys came back so we took the babies so they could play some soccer with the older kids. Mason agreed this time, only if she was on his dad’s team of course.

“I have a problem that when I feel like the twins are getting too big, I ask Jensen to have another baby” Danneel laughs as she pulls Zep on her lap. “But when they are having a tantrum or just being a straight up nightmare, I want to run away as fast as I can”

“How about you, Vic?” I try to not speak to loud since Arrow seems to be falling asleep.

“Oh no” She sakes her before I’m even finished asking. “They are just two and sometimes I feel like there are twelve of them”

I look around to find the other kids but there’s a group of girls walking towards the guys. I soon notice that they recognized them, which we all knew was gonna happen. They seem to be asking for pictures, hugging them and laughing at something Misha said.

“How come you never get jelous of that sort of things?” I ask so the girls look up to see what I’m talking about.

“Oh, we just got used to it” Gen keeps eating, looking away. “Besides, by the look of it, our husbands are not the ones those girls look really interested in”

Danneel looks at Gen, barely shaking her head as she tries to hold back a smirk.

“What do you mean?” I frown, looking back at the boys.

“Alex” Vic says it like it’s obvious. “They are looking at Alex”

I take a double look to see a girl wrapping her arms around Alex’s waist, throwing her hair over her shoulder while giving him a bright smile. Hey! Don’t do that! I’m the only one allowed to do the hair thing with him.

I place my head on my hands, realizing what I just thought. “Oh fuck”

“What?” Danneel raises her eye brows as I look up at them.

“You guys are right” I mutter as a grin forms in Gen’s face. “I like Alex. A lot”

Love waking.up to this! :) #Repost @books_with_jesss ・・・ I first started this book thinking it will be a nice relaxing read when I wanted to just sit and read, but it gripped me pretty hard from the start and I found myself avoiding other people so I could read instead. The story is great and encapsulating and the writing is magnificent. The adventure carries on throughout the book. This is a story of finding yourself, finding others, morals, coming to terms with your past, but all wrapped up with adventure. The author puts your heart through the ringer several times. I loved every moment of the blissful torture I experienced throughout this book. If you loved the Hunger Games and Divergent and just all around kicka$$ characters with an amazing storyline then you will love this. I don't know if there will be a sequel but I sure hope there is.
