Do Nadiyon ka Pani- 1
This is my version of Karthik and Aman’s lovestory. There will be two point of Views throughout the post.
Aman
It was the first day of my Marketing Internship in Delhi, I was so nervous that I am shaking inside out. It's already hard that I fumble, stutter and I have been constantly ill-at-ease with people, so I chided myself not make it worse by looking like a nervous wreck. I took several deep breaths and walk into the unassuming office. The wizened old security guard looked at me quizzically, and I replied, "Aman Tripathi. Marketing Intern."
He nodded and opened his register, apparently five others are joining with me. I signed in the register and the guard beckoned me inside. The office was nothing fancy, and I was not expecting more. I was lucky to land this job right after my MBA. I scanned the room with the other interns as I was led. They all looked prim and presentable, three girls who looked like they were ready to walk the ramp, not because of their clothes, it's because of their confidence, and two guys who are talking to each other but they have their eyes trained on the girls.I rolled my eyes mentally. The guard asked me to enter the room where these guys were standing and left.
I took another deep breath and entered. The others looked at me for a second and resumed whatever they were doing.Maybe I was not dressed to command the attention of the whole room, but I was glad that I was saved from going through the tedious rounds of introductions and socializing. But I did tell myself, "Welcome to yet another boring world Aman," as I took my place to stand beside the muscly, show-off guy whose shirt was decidedly tight.
It was then I heard a low-key commotion in the ring wing of the office, the aisle that faces the room we were in. I looked up to see the source of it.A melodious yet boisterous hum of "Main shayar toh nahin" met my ears. The voice was golden, deep and amazingly masculine.
Through the door, I could see a huge walking bouquet of flowers and people were surprisedly ducking in the wake. I did not wonder for too long about who that was, the bouquet headed straight to us. The bouquet was so huge that coming straight it would not have fit the door. If I thought that the bouquet was beautiful, then such thoughts have gotten erased as I saw the face behind it.He was stunning, pitch-black eyes that sparkled with mirth, bushman's eyebrows and a crooked smile. Just to compliment his handsome face, his jet black hair was styled in spikes. And was that a nose ring? Yes it was. The man ruled his look with the nose ring.
I had consciously straightened up and couldnt help but stare at the man, who sang the last line of shayar toh nahin, while setting the bouquet on the table in front of us and pirouetted with a flourish. My heart was pounding hard and the room went so silent that I was afraid the others in the room would hear its mad drum-beat. Shit! I just broke into a sweat, not that it will be really noticeable but damn the effect the man just had on me!
"Too bad yaar!" he said, I could only hear him distantly. What actually caught my eye was his adorable pout as he spoke, "I made such a great entry, and bande ko appreciate koi nai karta!"
The girls giggled, the other guys guffawed foolishly, I couldnt help blush and smile, with eyes simply drinking him in. He was almost a foot taller to me, lean and looked quite hot in that jacket. And oh that triangular tattoo on the side of his neck! Wonder he had tattoos anywhere else.
What the hell was I thinking? Aman Tripathi Apne dimaag ko kaabuu main rakh!
I looked down and swallowed as others went ahead and introduced themselves to him. I took a step backwards and simultaneously wished to be the stud of the group and become invisible. Karthik... Karthik Singh his name was.
He was shaking his hands and casually joked something, both girls and guys started laughing. With a jolt, I realized he was looking at me with a crooked smile.
Aur meri wahaan phatt rahi thi!
I smiled at him, nervous, my hand went to my neck unconsciously, He smiled at me encouragingly, and took a step forward. As much as I wanted to flee the spot, I was rooted. I didn't want to look stupid, but I was pretty sure I was not making a stellar impression.I internally commanded myself to speak, shake his hand. I raised my shaking hand to meet his ready and friendly hand, he looked at my hands for a second, held it with both his hands to make me comfortable.
"Karthik! naam toh suna hi hoga," he said in such an adorable ‘Rahul’ style that I couldnt help laughing. He broke my ice.
"Aman" I said smiling.
"Main soch raha tha, Shahrukh, tum toh Salman nikle yaar!"
Thank god! My brain restarted right in time. "Main bhi soch raha tha Ranveer, aap bhi toh Shahrukh nikle" I replied.
He laughed sweetly at that, "Kya Karoon unpredictability mera andaaz hain" with yet another goofy Shahrukh imitation.
I suddenly became aware that there were other people in the room and they were all looking at us... with interest. Shit!My hand went to my neck unconsciously and shuffled my collar. The spell was broken and landed me in uncomfortably in reality.
"Aagaya mera star!" a loud voice startled us.
Everyone, including Karthik, turned to its source. A tall, fit and middle-aged hunk just entered the room with a genial smile.
"Come here! Karthik! ye kya hain flowers and all" he said as his eyes fell on the ridiculously large bouquet.
"Welcome, sir! Welcome! Phool toh mere ussool hain sir!" Karthik quipped confidently, turning back at me to throw a wink.
Damn! that cocky confidence.

Remembering famous lyricist #Anjaan on his 20th death anniversary. Anjaan (24 October 1929 – 13 September 1997) was the nom-de-plume of Lalji Pandey, the Hindi movie lyricist famous for songs such as "Khaike Paan Banaraswala" from Don and "Rote Hue Aate Hain Sab" from Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Anjaan, a native of Varanasi, often used the Bhojpuri dialect of Hindi in his lyrics. His sonSameer Anjaan is also a famous lyricist. Anjaan got his first break with the 1953 Premnath production Prisoner Of Golconda where he wrote "Lehar Yeh Dole Koyal Bole" and "Shaheedon Amar Hai Tumhari Kahani". After this he remained fairly busy, but in small films. His only popular number was "Mat Poonch Mera Hai Mera Kaun Watan" (Lambe Haath) with music by G. S. Kohli, with whom he did many small films. He was first noticed for his work with the Raaj Kumar film Godaan, based on the Premchand classic, with music by Ravi Shankar. This film got him a few good assignments in the mid - 60’s with big composers like O. P. Nayyar ("Aap Ke Haseen Rukh") in Guru Dutt’s Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi and G. P. Sippy's Bandhan, which established him commercially with "Bina Badraa Ke Bijuriya Kaise Barse". This also saw the forging with fellow lyricist Indeevar and composers Kalyanji-Anandji. This was followed by songs in Kalyanji - Anandji’s Kab? Kyon? Aur Kahan?. Shankar - Jaikishan’s Umang, Rivaaj and Ek Nari Ek Brahmachari, Ravi's Vandana ("Aap Ki Inaayat Aap Ke Karam"), R. D. Burman’s Hungama (‘Wah Ri Kismat’, ‘Suraj Se Jo Kiran Ka Naata’ which was the first ever song filmed on Zeenat Aman) and a few other films. And yet it took Anjaan many more years before he emerged as a very prolific writer who amalgamated a lot of his commercial songs with lyricism and poetry. He was at his best in the Amitabh Bachchan films of Kalyanji Anandji, beginning with Do Anjaane ("Luk Chhip Luk Chhip Jao Na") in 1976. Followed Hera Pheri ("Barson Purana Yeh Yaarana"), Khoon Pasina ("Title Song" and "Bani Rahe Jodi Raja Rani Ki"), Muqaddar Ka Sikandar ("Rote Hue Aate Hain Sab", "O Saathi Re", "Pyar Zindagi Hai", "Dil To Hai Dil"), Don with his biggest hit of the career "Khaike Paan Banaras Wala", ("Ee Hai Bambai Nagariya", "Jiska Mujhe Tha Intezaar"), Lawaaris ("Jiska Koi Nahin", "Kab Ke Bichhde") and Jaadugar. He also wrote hits for Bachchan with other composers like Rajesh Roshan (Do Aur Do Paanch, Yaarana), Bappi Lahiri (Namak Halaal, Sharaabi) and R. D. Burman (Mahaan). His liaison with Prakash Mehra also yielded hits like Zindagi Ek Juaa, Dalaal and other films like Jwalamukhi, Ghunghroo, Mohabbat Ke Dushman, Muqaddar Ka Faisla, Imaandaar, Chameli Ki Shaadi and Himalay Se Ooncha. In the 80’s, he even emerged as the writers of choice for Mithun Chakravarty’s films like Disco Dancer and Dance Dance and struck a gold mine in the films of Bappi Lahiri, Shibu Mitra and B. Subhash. Among his hits with them were the songs of Aandhi Toofan, Ilzaam, Aag Hi Aag, Paap Ki Duniya and Tarzan. His work with others was almost schizophrenically different, with songs like R. D. Burman’s "Yeh Faasle Yeh Duriyan" (Zameen Aasman), "Laagi Lag Jaaye Logon" (Poonam / Anu Malik), "Ganga Mein Dooba" (Apne Rang Hazaar), ‘Meri Saanson Ko Jo’, "Na Jaane Kaise" and "Woh Woh Na Rahe" (Badaltey Rishtey, "Hamrahi Mere Humrahi" (Do Dilon Ki Daastaan), ‘Yashoda Ka Nandlala (Sanjog), ‘Sadiyan Beet Gayi’ (Triveni) and the beautiful songs of Eeshwar (all these films were with Laxmikant-Pyarelal showing a poetic vein). Another major hit was Anu Malik’s breakthrough film Ek Jaan Hain Hum. His health suffered a major setback in the early 90’s, though he delivered hits with Zindagi Ek Juaa, Dalaal, Ghayal and the 1990 chartbuster "Gori Hain Kalaiyan" (Aaj Ka Arjun) and his last hit Shola Aur Shabnam (1992). His other films in the 90’s included Vishnu Devaa, Parakrami, Insaniyat, Police Aur Mujrim, First Love Letter, Aandhiyaan, Phool Bane Angaarey and others. In the 60’s, Anjaan also wrote several non - films albums composed by Shyam Sagar and sung by Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey and Suman Kalyanpur. Rafi’s song "Main Kab Gaata" was a big hit then. Anjaan also entered the world of Bhojpuri films with the massive hit Balam Pardesia in the late 70’s. The song "Gourki Patarki Re" became a rage and set the stage for many more films with a resurgent Chitragupta and laying the foundation for the personal - and later - professional liaison between their respective sons Sameer and Anand-Milind. Anjaan was a very successful all - rounder for almost 20 years in Hindi films, but his poetry still had the colour of Bhojpuri language and the ethos and culture of Uttar Pradesh, the citadel of hindi. This is why, says Sameer. he could write "Khaike Paan", "Bina Badra Ke Bijuriya" and similar songs with great skill. His own favourites were his songs from Apne Rang Hazaar and Badaltey Rishtey and "Maano To Main Ganga Maa Hoon Maano To Behta Paani" and "Chal Musafir" from Ganga Ki Saugandh. A few months before his death on 13 September 1997, his only book of poems, Ganga Tath Ka Banjara (A Gypsy from the Shores of the Ganges) was released at the hands of Amitabh Bachchan. Top 5 Things to Do in Sonamarg - Tour and journey
It was our Sonamarg day, a scintillating valley almost 90 kilometers from Srinagar. Altitude was around 9500 feet only above mean sea level, but due to its topographical proximity to the Three Kashmir Sisters (Mount Harmukh, Amarnath and Kolhoi), Sonamarg remains snow blanketed almost round the year, opened to public only for two months during April and May. Luckily we had been there in mid-May.
By road it takes around 5 hours from state capital Srinagar, via National Highway 1D. Road conditions are pretty good until Gund village; however it gets abruptly narrow after the last check post. Sonamarg, as the name suggests, means ‘Valley of Gold’. It got its name not because of any abundance of the glittering metal ore, but because of the golden gleam on snow by the rising sun. On a clear sunny day, when the rays fall on ice caps, they glitter like gold. Nevertheless, this span of higher Himalayas lacks wildlife, flora and fauna due to the frequent avalanches and heavy snowfalls. The three sisters of Kashmir seen at Sonamarg lead to major glaciers like Thajiwas and Kolhoi.
Here are some of the top attractions which you must not miss during your trip to Sonamarg.
Thajiwas Glacier Trek: We parked the car at the roadside of basecamp area and took the pleasure of walking towards the snow on foot. One striking aspect of Sonamarg ’s mountains was the flat tops with gradual slopes. So high, yet no cliffs! One need to be an expert to climb up to the summits of Harmukh, Amarnath or Kolhoi, but amateur hikers with strong lungs may dare a trek up to the Thajiwas summit by foot or on horseback.
While casually hiking on the glacier, taking photo-breaks in between, we did not realize when we had lost our direction. Unknowingly, we had landed at a solitary corner, without realizing that we had actually reached the Thajiwas Glacier stage 0, aka the summit. Believe me, there were no lives around! Not even the army men.
On the glacial top, we were shocked to discover numerous skeletons here and there, scattered on the ground. The scene was so horrendous. You could see different skeletal parts of animals (hopefully, though all did not seem to be) – skull, leg bones, ribcages etc and no human beings around. Sweat droplets filled my forehead at that biting cold. Just imagine our dreadful condition!
Sledge Ride: Staying on the top for around 15 minutes, we decided to descend. Walking down, we passed by the Gaddi huts which I could remember seeing during our uphill trek. Within a few minutes, God knows, suddenly wherefrom three sledgewalas approached us for a snow ride. One of them told, if we agree, it would be their first income of the season. We did not take the risk of confronting them. They charged Rs. 300/- per person for an hour’s ride.
Who knew sledge riding was so difficult! You need so much of body balance to enjoy a fall-free ride. In fact, one must take a sledge ride to know what happens once you fall down. Finally, we reached the top in 60 minutes with muddy dresses and cold toes. Thankfully driver was not around, so I could change my dress inside the car.
Island Retreat Park: Near stage one of the Thajiwas Glacier, there was a small riverside restaurant named Island Retreat Park, claiming to serve hot and fresh foods like Kashmiri Wazwan, Kahwa, Kashmir special Fish fry, Mutton rogan josh etc. Unfortunately, during our time of visit hardly anything was available except tea, coffee, ice-cream and instant noodles. A nice wooden bridge connected the park with the mainland of Sonamarg valley. The foaming waters of Sindh Nalla flowing under the bridge offered a tantalizing sight.
Kheer Bhavan Temple: On our way back to Srinagar, there is a much revered Hindu temple called Kheer Bhavani Mandir. This is the sacred place where Swami Vivekananda could transform his Vedantin convictions into complete surrender to the Divine Mother. The antiquity of this ancient temple offers a very exciting story which connects to Hindu mythology. It is believed that way back during the Ramayana age, Ravana used to worship a rare form of Goddess Shakti named Maha Ragya Bhagwati (another name of Goddess Bhavani) who is considered as the embodiment of cosmic power and active energy. As mentioned in the epic, Ravana had established a small temple of Goddess Ragya at his golden capital in Lanka. Owing to his misbehaviour with Sita (who is also believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Ragya by a school of Kashmiri Pandits), the goddess ordered Rama to shift her from Lanka to this Kashmiri village named Tulmulla where Sita had spent couple of years during exile. Since then, Goddess Shakti is being worshipped at this ancient temple in the titular form of Devi Ragya. At present it is under the management of Dharmarth Trust of J&K.
Aman-ka-Phool (Flower of Peace): There is a huge Kund (holy pond) beside the temple which is surrounded by lofty Chinars and Mount Harmukh at the milieu – a personification of amity and tranquility. Just as we walked inside, the whole area was shining with white blooms of a very special tree, they say it’s called ‘Aman-ka-Phool’ (flower of peace) as this is the flower which is exchanged every day at the international border while greeting our friends from the neighbouring country.
It was almost five in the evening. After a tiring trip to Sonamarg, it was time for a dreamy escape to the world of snow under bed warmers. We reached our hotel by six and retired for the day.

Do Nadiyon ka pani -2

I am excited! There is a new batch of marketing interns this year and I cannot believe I will be guiding one of them. Gaurav, our creative head, told all of us to pick one of the juniors each and our desperate Heteroes, fought over the hot girls in the batch.
Yep, we were checking out the Facebook profiles to see who they were. The others finally settled for the hunks and the only one whom no one was picking was Aman Tripathi. His Facebook Profile, had non-descript poetic quotes from Gulzar and Rumi, Some of his pictures with Family.I felt bad these people judged him by his ordinariness. I picked him. He could be interesting and even if not, we will be fine.
I am in one of my moods, the happy one. I took a bouquet of flowers, that basically had every flower that the florist had. I simply couldnt decide. And it became a huge ass bouquet, but I took it anyway. I know for sure that no one bothers to greet the freshers with flowers, so what's wrong in showing some extra-large love.
I realized that it was indeed too ridiculously large bouquet as I walked into the office. People in my office ducked alarmedly out of my way, guffawed at my stupid gesture. I shrugged, anyway, most of them thought I was legit crazy! So why should I care!
Another amazing realization is that my extra-large bouquet would not fit the door straight. Just like my extra-large ahem heart would not fit the world straight. I smirked at my own stupid joke.
I entered the room where interns were waiting quite dramatically, I couldnt help it. It's my life and the drama just happens. And that's when it happened, the feeling that breath had been suddenly knocked out of me.
I lowered the bouquet from the eye-level and looked at the first person across me. I knew him to be Aman Tripathy, but he looked nothing ordinary. His coffee-brown eyes were wide and had a beautiful smile on him as he stared at me.
He shook his head ever so slightly as he realized he straightened for me. Thank god! for my autopilot singing, I was not making a fool of myself in front of him. Because I never felt like this before, nervous and anxious to impress, I barely registered the others in the room. I set the bouquet on the table, Thank God I picked it.
No Thank god I picked him. Shit, I shouldn't be thinking this way!
I finished my song with a regular flourish and pirouette, hoping desperately that he must not think of me as stupid or something. I looked at him and he stood gazing at me with his big eyes. A thrill shot through me as I realised he was impressed, his eyes were tracing their way towards my tattoo, and jacket.
Those eyes were really speaking volumes. I must do something before I get lost in those eyes and do something stupid. I joked something for the heck of it, thankfully that worked the other interns, who were in the room started coming towards me to introduce themselves. But Aman looked down and stepped back, I was already hyperventilating. Was I looking too overbearing? Was I too dramatic? Now what?
I engaged myself introducing myself to the others, I didn't get any of their names. But then I noticed out of the corner of my eye, that he was nervously shuffling his collar, looking so lost that my heart went out for him.I smirked at him, to gauge his reaction, maybe it was too weird for him that a guy was eye-balling him, he swallowed and shuffled his collar.
Damn! I should not make him feel uncomfortable.
So I stepped forward to shake his hand. Alarm clear in his eyes, he too raised his hand to meet mine. His hands were shaking, yep definitely nervous. Unconsciously, I brought both my hands to reassure his shaking hands. And I realized that too late. Thankfully, Aman didn't mind and actually felt comfortable with my gesture. In a hurry to make a good impression on him I picked the most cheesy lines of the century.
But they worked! Aman laughed, and for a moment I was distracted at the silky hair that bounced on his face. Ok now! Damn!
"Aman" he replied sweetly. Time to misdirect my wit yet again!
"Main soch raha tha, Shahrukh, tum toh Salman nikle yaar!"
Aman being really sweet, played along, "Main bhi soch raha tha Ranveer, aap bhi toh Shahrukh nikle".
I was shamelessly impressed by him, and we were still holding hands, I don't want that to turn awkward so I did yet another goofy, cliched ShahRukh gesture, with, "Kya Karoon unpredictability mera andaaz hain."
Aman laughed at that as well throwing his head back. Sigh! That hair! But then, he suddenly realised that the others were looking at him too, in a split second, his self-consciousness was back. His hand automatically went to his neck, he rubbed the back of his neck and shuffled his collar, looking like an adorable lost puppy.
"Aagaya Mera Star," Gaurav boomed from behind him. Aman looked at him across me. And an unexpected frisson of something shot through me. Gaurav was hunky and quite hot for a creative head and Aman looked at him in surprise. I didn't like that. I want his attention back, in fact, all to myself.
Strange!
Gaurav was commenting something on the flowers, and I replied, "Welcome, sir! Welcome! Phool toh mere ussool hain sir!"
And as if I was mentally retarded, I turned back at Aman to throw him a wink.Gaurav clapped my back as I reached him and turned towards the crowd yet again. For a second, Aman had a mesmerising smile, but then he quite suddenly his smile slipped. He looked away and swallowed. I looked away too, wondering what was wrong!
A welcome distraction came in the shape of my team, who walked in after a calculated twenty seconds after Gaurav. The general rounds of introduction and briefing were happening and I calmed my nerves. My Hetero team is already staring at the girls and doing stuff to impress them.
The poor girls always have it hard, too much attention all the time. Aman slunk into the background, probably I am the only one who noticed him. One of the girls from the freshers casually walked towards him and introduced herself. He looked up in surprise but quickly got through the introduction. But she lingered talking to him, he was uncomfortable and fumbled his words, which made the girl giggle and looked back. I understood the ruse. She was actually interested in the other guy at the end of the room. So this was her ploy.
Maybe he sensed that someone was staring hard at him from across the room, he looked away form the girl and his eyes met mine, but Gaurav boomed yet again and I had to look away.
So Gaurav started his speech with the same old marketing mix with a spice of his own, trying in vain to motivate good responses. He was facing the crowd from across the table, while we were to his left. I could see Aman at the other end drinking in whatever Gaurav was speaking, rapt in attention.Yet again, the pit of my stomach burned a little.
What! Gaurav was good looking, at least too good for a straight.
Gaurav ended his prep talk with the announcement that he will attach each of the interns to each one of us. But since our team were ten and the interns were only six, we have to share our resources. He had a knack of telling stuff as if he just had an idea to do this as if none of this is pre-planned.To tell the truth, I was nervous. I didn't know why I want Aman to be happy and impressed with me.Gaurav announced our names casually and attached the interns in a line. Finally, Aman's turn came and Gaurav called my name. Aman lit up for a split second as he heard my name! And here I was a nervous wreck. He caught my eye smiled, he was nervous as well. I smiled back, it's kinda hard not to, his smile is too infectious.
