Amalda's lips caressed her neck, marking skin that just finished healing from the last territorial mark.

"The factory. Were you…?"

Sevika shuddered with every butterfly that took flight in her stomach, and slowly, she shook her head no.

"I was with Vander when it happened. Just some Piltovian brats pissed off because no one would give them the drugs they can't pay for."

She felt a smile stretch atop the nape of her neck, but it was hard to focus when that hand kept fondling with her underwear band. Leather fingers all too happy to wiggle and tickle wherever they feel.

Damn her.

"How many times must I punish you, Ms. Lanes? Hmm?"

And finally, jeans were slipped far lower than they were sewn for, and the itchy lace was toyed side-to side before joining the toughened piece of denim.

"But you must like this…"

"This" earned her a nip on her hickeyed breast, and leather fingers to stop their onslaught and focus on massaging their way oh so close.

...okay i'm gonna level with you here. this ask is my secret shame. my white whale.

this was sent to me at least a month ago, probably closer to a month and a half. i promptly wrote up a little draft listing each of the questions, and then forgot about it. then, when i looked back over it, it had reloaded the page and i lost the listings of the questions. when i searched back through my archive i could not find the original post - i can only assume it has now been deleted. so, unfortunately, i have no idea what question 8 was.

however, i believe i have found someone else who answered the same ask game, and this gave me the questions for numbers 18 and 23. without further ado here goes nothing. i am, of course, answering both of these for fire emblem.

18. It’s absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on…

every game released before 2013!! but also, like, the minor characters. maybe this is a cop-out answer - they're minor for a reason - but like, there's one fic writer i know of who's gone super hard into misha and amalda from thracia 776, two characters with about six lines between them who never interact in canon, and i ADORE that. more of that! go wild with it! all these characters interact with each other theoretically behind the scenes, being part of the same army, and in the pre-support-conversations games no one ever touches on that nearly as much as they should. so uh. more rarepairs i guess!

also, olwen. everyone is sleeping on olwen. come the fuck on. why does reinhardt have like sixteen alts in heroes and olwen has 2 she is more important, cooler, and more compelling as a character. she has TWO PERSONAL WEAPONS and she isn't a lord or primary protagonist. she rules

23. Ship you’ve unwillingly come around to.

a lot of m/f ships. i always default to thinking about things gayly, partially because i'm gay, partially because it feels like literally no more effort was put into the "canon" straight ships in the games than standing a man and woman next to each other (marth and caeda, roy and lilina, leif and nanna, sigurd and deirdre, ALM AND CELICA), and partially because i'm a huge fan of men and women characters being platonically close and having deep relationships that aren't romantic or sexual - but i have come around to some of these relationships, thanks basically entirely to fan works! like, i LIKE marth/caeda now. they're sweeties they're doofuses they're adorable. is any of that in the games? you'd better believe it isn't! so yeah that's my answer i guess, marth and caeda.

Chapter 24, in which we finally face Raydrick!

Who is being abandoned by Veld, since he’s just a pawn to him in the end...

We got split up into 3 groups, and August’s reasoning makes sense, a group to save the kids, a group to face Raydrick, and a group to take care of the Loptyrians with nasty staves. This could have been very annoying (honestly the first thing I’d change about this game is allowing unit placement!!) but thankfully I got a decent setup after switching out Lifis for Amalda (who is more useful anyways, and I like her more too), didn’t even have to warp/rewarp anyone

But first of all... SAIAS..... we need to talk, I believe you had FIVE leadership stars last chapter? Which is still half as many as you originally had, but now you have THREE?! You can’t just shed 2 stars just like that!!! Look I chose you because I’m interested in your character, even over Sety but this is just mean....

The chapter wasn’t too bad actually, first I had my staff users silence the worst of the Loptyrians (berserk, sleep, silence, and rest so they couldn’t be healed), and had the group there go down and take them all after fenrir was used up (Pahn was thankfully part of this group!)

The group on the other side had a lot of my strong mages, so they took out the Loptyrians there pretty quickly, especially Sara, she’s become really strong...

The middle group just... waited there, and I was going to wait longer but the door got unlock staffed, so uh, we went ahead! Galzus is terrifyingly strong, but Mareeta was there!! And he’s her dad!!! It was pretty cute, he tried to be all like ohh you must resent me, but Mareeta loves her dad, so she told him otherwise! And he wants to help out Eyvel too!

After that, Leif took out Raydrick with the Bragi sword, it was.... very easy.... then we just waited around for the one kid that could unlock the back door (??????? I don’t know why one of the random kids would be able to and no one else, but OKAY), unlock staffed the Kia staff, and seized the throne.

Raydrick apparently just... disappeared after being killed, which we think might be because of the SECRET LOPTYRIAN TEMPLE below the castle... and August informs Leif about Veld, and how he was the one that turned Eyvel to stone...

We got the Kia staff, but it can only be used by relatives of Manfroy.... and it just so happens Sara is his grandaughter! (I’m.... not going to think too hard about the implications of that....who would..... with.... Manfroy.....)

But this means.... we can save Eyvel!!! Finally!!! The moment I’ve been waiting for!!! Almost 20 chapters later!!!! (And oh boy it’s a fog of war map apparently....)

Leif’s army had both advanced and fallen back countless times now. The ballistae were keeping them from making any progress.

Suddenly, the arrows stopped coming.

They heard the soldiers on the other side of the wall break into an uproar. Had their enemies finally run out of arrows?

Leif looked up at the castle and burst into laughter. “Now! Attack the castle!” He raised his sword overhead and started running.

They broke down the back gate and rushed into the castle wall all at once.

“Grr, I thought for sure that they wouldn’t make it in! Hey! Someone get Amalda! She and her platoon should be on standby, so hurry up!” The general protecting the castle’s rear entrance screamed, obviously panicking.

“Get ready!” Leif turned towards the knights within the castle wall.

The sound of blades clashing filled the air.

It came as no surprise to him, but these soldiers left to defend the castle entrance were strong. There weren’t that many of them, yet his entire army was occupied fighting them. Not even one person was left to take out the general.

He heard horses galloping towards them.

The bars of the gate to the right of Leif rose, and a group of imperial cavaliers came flying out.

“Sorry to make you wait, General Palman. We’re here to help you!” Their leader yelled out and rode up to the general’s side.

“Forget me, just take out the rebel leader. I’m counting on you, Amalda.”

“Yes sir!”

Leif’s army fell back, being cautious of the cavaliers. While doing so, he couldn’t look away from Amalda. He couldn’t believe his eyes. “No… It’s you…” He whispered, voice wavering.

Her eyes fell on him. “It’s you! So… you’re the rebel leader.” Her eyes opened wide for a moment, then she started laughing at the irony.

“Why are you with the empire?!” He bit his lip and glared at her.

She was silver haired paladin who had fought the bandits attacking the mountain village.

“Why!?” He ran at her.

Their swords clashed.

“Why are you a leader in the imperial army!?”

“Why are you so surprised?”

Their swords clashed again.

Amalda took a few steps back.

“You oppose the child hunts, don’t you? So why do you serve the empire!?”

“Just because I don’t like the child hunts, doesn’t mean I oppose the empire!” She kicked her horse and charged at him.

“But they’re carried out by the empire!” He rolled across the ground and dodged her attack.

“Of course I can’t approve of the child hunts. But it’s the Loptyrian Cult that carries them out!” Amalda pulled her horses’ reigns. Her horse changed direction to face Leif again. “Our world needs the empire right now!” Her horse charged at him once more.

“That’s foolish! We don’t need it for anything!” Leif took a step forward and thrust his sword before Amalda could attack.

Her horse stopped just before the tip of his sword could stab it, flailing its front legs and whinnying.

“Yes we do! We need an absolute power like the empire!”

“Why!?”

Amalda’s horse tried to run away, but Leif chased after it and raised his sword.

She swung her sword down.

Their blades clashed.

“So that we can end wars like these, and build peace!” She pushed against his sword.

His knees sank. “Aren’t we fighting because the empire exists!?” He pushed back against her sword.

“No, we’re fighting because of rebels like you! If the empire could unify all the lands, then the fighting would stop!” She drew her sword back.

Leif stumbled forward at the sudden loss of force against his sword.

Amalda raised her sword as high as she could. “It would bring peace to the world!” She swung down.

“It would be a peace that makes the people suffer!” He didn’t try to dodge, instead twisting his body and swinging his sword.

The two blades missed each other.

Her sword cut deep into his check.

He heard a wet sound.

His sword had stabbed through her side.

Blood flowed from the wound and stained her clothes a dark red.

She looked down and started laughing. “What a fitting end for one like me, who spilt so much blood…” Her sword slipped out of her hand. “If you… really do… bring peace… to the world… then…” Her body fell backwards and fell off her horse. She landed on her back on the ground, already dead. Blood pooled around her.

“Why…” Leif looked down at her, wondering what she was going to say. He ground his teeth together.

“I’m not gonna kick the bucket yet!” Miranda yelled and chanted a spell.

Her fire magic and Asbel’s wind magic assaulted the general at the same time.

His screamed in agony as his body twisted and writhed about. He fell where he stood.

There were no longer any imperial soldiers defending the perimeter of the castle.

“We’re finally ready to enter the castle, Lord Leif!” Asbel cheered.

“Uh-huh.” Leif sheathed his sword and nodded.

“What happened? Is something bothering you?” Asbel looked at him with worry on his face.

Leif shook his head and pushed the image of Amalda’s dying body out of his head. “It’s nothing.”

“Are you sure?”Asbel looked even more worried now.

Leif smiled at him.

Asbel smiled back and nodded.

“Let’s go inside, then! All cavaliers aside from Finn, Fergus, and Carrion, stay out here and be on the look-out for any reinforcements. Dean, Eda, and Karin, you guys support them. Linoan and Safy, you two stay out here and heal the wounded. Everyone else, come with me.”

Everyone nodded in unison at Leif’s orders.

“Glade, you’re in charge.”

“Yes, sir!” Glade bowed his head from atop his horse.

Leif took one final look around at everyone and nodded. “Dorias, August, do you know anything about the enemies inside?” He asked while looking up at the castle.

“Yes, I do. The current lord of this castle and Leonster is Duke Gustaf.” August began. “He is the right-hand man of King Bloom of Friege and the one who has been torturing the people of Leonster. He gained his position through his brutal and cunning ways. While he himself is not a skilled enough fighter that we have to be afraid of him, he will probably be using top-notch equipment. For that reason alone, we might have trouble dealing with him.

“I see.” Leif nodded and put his hand on the door to the castle.

“But more so than him, the person we should fear is…” August continued.

Leif stopped and turned back toward him.

“Gustav’s right-hand man, General Xavier.”

“Xavier? The traitor!?” Dorias yelled at August’s words.

“What do you mean by that, Dorias? There’s a traitor?” Leif asked.

“Xavier was once a knight of Leonster. But when the castle fell, he betrayed us and sided with the empire! He should be ashamed of himself!!!” Dorias was filled with more rage than Leif had ever seen him exhibit before. It was clear that he absolutely could not stand traitors.

“You’re wrong!” They heard someone say.

Everyone turned towards the sound of the voice.

They saw the villager from before standing there.

“He’s wrong? What do you mean?” Leif asked.

The man swallowed and opened his mouth. “General Xavier is the one who has kept us alive all this time.”

“Wh-What!? How could that be!?” Dorias yelled at the man. Now that he was all worked up, he couldn’t seem to calm down.

“He has been our shield, lessening the empire’s oppression and our suffering. If it wasn’t for him, we’d be long gone by now.”

“So that’s why he…” Dorias exhaled slowly and hung his head.

“General Xavier has been acting as the leader of Leonster, even though it’s the responsibility that I must bear as a member of the royal family. All because I ran away.” Leif balled his hands into fists.

“Don’t beat yourself up over it. You were still just a boy when Leonster fell.”

“Yeah, I know. I know…” His fists shook.

“So what are you saying?” August asked while stroking his beard. “That if he or anyone else like him is in the castle, then they will side with us?” August raised an eyebrow and looked at the man.

“The general is a man who cares deeply for his subordinates. Because of that…” The man spoke slowly. His voice was full of regret. “…their families were taken as hostages. They’re probably still imprisoned in the castle.” The man glared at the castle.

Leif closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “I understand. Thank you. If you hadn’t told me all this, I might have done something terrible. Thank you so much.” Leif bowed his head.

The man looked extremely grateful. “W-Wow… the prince bowed to someone like me… Uh, um, I’ll be praying that the fortunes of war will be with you. E-Excuse me.” The man bowed his head over and over again before running back to his house.

Leif watched him off, then once again turned towards the castle.

I didn't forget Raydrik, its just I didn't put him on the Reinhardt, Gomez, Cyas team because I feel Count Gustav is a much tougher boss & the theme of the team was annoying FE5 bosses. He certainly has higher stats than Raydrik in very category, but the latter having 2 more HP points, which isn't enough to make up for Gustav's 4 more STR/SKILL/DEF, 3 more SPEED, 5 more MAG & 7 more luck. Also Gustav is fought 6 chapters earlier, maybe the devs overestimated the power of Raydrik's sword?

TFW the plot is all "only the baggi sword can defeat Reydrick" and then you send Galzus, a "random" without any fancy weapon, against him and Reidric dies.

If only that sword gave him nihil lol, but it doesn't so Galzus can use Astra and Luna and crit him to oblivion.

We don't know a lot about Gustav (save that he demoted Amalda to guarding duty and is an ass who keeps hostages) so Reidric feels more on the "loser" team than him, Reinhardt is a pathetic man, Gomez is someone who is fed up bcs his efforts don't bring fruit (tfw meritocracy doesn't work) and Saias is just, Saias.

IMO, Gustav symbolises the yoke Granvalle has on the peninsula, while Reidric is your petty but everyday random who turned villain - and look, who is more important as in, fought last and borrowed the evil sect's power (only to fail and be used as pawn at the end) ?

FE5 is a deeply personal story, and while Gustav took Leonster from Leif, Reidric took Leif's mama. Even if, as you pointed out, their stats are biased to make Gustav look superior, plot wise, Reidric is the "real" enemy.

Whhhhaatttt so cool ! Sorry it took me so long to respond! I took your message of ‘make sure you’re comfortable’ to the extreme and wanted to wait until class was finished and I had enough time to read this :D

First off, I completely adore the premise in case that wasn’t clear. Whilst I know you haven’t gone in depth i can already tell it’s going to be a brilliant story with great potential because I can already almost conjure the fantastical images of th Echoes which is super interesting.

Also ahhh the angst ! I mean I at least imagine there’s angst regarding the sisters. Amalda May grow up thinking her sister abandoned her or is dead and ahhh her sister doesn’t remember her 😭😭 it’s just so sad ! Both are pretty much completely isolated ! I mean sure Amalda’s sister is with the family friends but of she doesn’t remember them, they’re essentially strangers and that would be interesting to see how’s she’d react to that. And Amalda herself! Like she may be 4 when this all starts but four year olds are smart - she’s gonna quickly start asking questions about her family 😭😭😭

Considering this was about wips instead of just future projects, I suppose I ought to tell about mine. I think I've already told about the wip that I'll start posting up at the end of October but I've got another one that's been put on the back burner for a while. It's about a young girl who's been raised by ghosts (well, they're not exactly ghosts but it's close enough) and when she goes off into a place she's not supposed to she accidentally sets off something that tears her world apart (1/2)

(2/2) So in an effort to set things right and bring her friends back she ends up getting tossed into a different plane of existence - an in-between place of sorts - where she meets enemies, allies, and someone from her past whom she can’t remember. Given a task and a deadline, she must manage to survive in that place long enough to save her home. But in doing so she might have to sacrifice that which she holds most dear. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it - those characters that I told on my blog for people to send me asks about (Ned and Pam and Lucina and such) - they are all characters for that story! :D And the main girl’s name is Amalda. ^ *^/

Secondly, this sounds quite frankly - really fucking cool ! It’s currently 5am so I’m a little out of it but I remember your other WIP sounded awesome but like ahhHHHH this is a whole new level ! - this could just be because I’m bias and an actual hoe for ghosts (see my own WIP hahah), but I think others would agree with me that this sounds super cool :D

I feel like this in between (in my head almost purgatory like state) is going to be super interesting as well! Also I have a lot of questions - how is it that she’s raised by ghosts? Does she have a tragic past that led to this? That would explain the person from her past she meets in the in between state? Ahhhh super interesting!

Chapter 19! Honestly, after the last 2, it wasn’t bad. I still had to use a warp staff though.

The most annoying part was simply choosing my units so I’d have a good setup, because for some reason this game doesn’t let you choose their positions! Let’s not talk about the two S drinks I used too....

So it turns out the bad news the opening talked about is that the empire is counterattacking, and Dorias is dead now?! Oh.... I wasn’t expecting that.....  but we couldn’t let his sacrifice go to waste, so we go to save everyone else

Oh and Blume made a brief appearance, I mean we have been fighting a lot of Freeges....

After trying an intial setup, I didn’t know how I’d get to Amalda, and someone would keep dying on the first turn, so I resigned myself to the fact that I’d have to use warp.... then it took me an unreasonably long time figuring out a setup where Safy would be close enough to Sleuf to warp him. But after I did, he talked to Amalda, convinced her to join us, his movement stars activated, and I was able to use rewarp instead of rescue to escape! I have a lot of rewarps but not many rescues after all. My new Freege friends served as... well, pretty much a distraction as we escaped north (saving the civilians in the process of course)

The rest was pretty easy, Amalda visited the southern houses, Karin and Olwen the northern ones, 2 got destroyed.... but I’m just happy to have more live staves.... and Machua was the only one that got put in a lot of danger, but she’s also my strongest unit so she was fine (she capped DEF in this chapter!) There was also this weird.... arc of bandits.... I mean they would appear 3 at a time, head out of the forest then south, and leave??? They didn’t even try to attack me? It was weird.

It was kinda annoying how long the enemy phase would take, thanks to more reinforcements showing up each turn and a large map, but it wasn’t bad, I trained Leif a bit on the bridge, then we all escaped.

Leif is blaming himself for Dorias’ death.... but August tells him about Seliph and the rebellion in Isaach, and about how Sigurd is now considered a hero... and gives him a whole speech on how heroes aren’t born, but made.

Which ended up reminding me of one of my favorite conversations in Genealogy where Seliph is terrified with how he’s seen as a god.........

Ahh, and then there was a half a year timeskip? And now we’re defending Lenster, and its only a matter of time before it falls, greeaaaat.... sounds like a defense chapter

if you were to find/read a Jugdral-based fanfic that re-writes the 2nd Gen with Julia as the main lord, what would be something that you would be excited by if it was included in the story? aside from giving Julia a bit of agency and hopefully skipping the bit where manfroy mind controls her.

Well Julia as a main Lord isn’t something i thought about in 2nd Gen narrative, if she still has amnesia she wouldn’t be able to muse/think about the Empire and the child hunts like Amalda did (something in the lines of “i had faith in Emperor Arvis why did this happen?”). 

There is something however that, i think, could be interesting to explore, Julia’s relationship with her dad. I know in the 2nd gen she doesn’t have time to think about it a lot because she recovers her memories, talks to him, then is brainwashed in the same day a very short span. But after having lived with the Liberation Army for nearly (?) a year and most likely heard everyone’s stories about how the Empire ruined their lives, how Emperor Arvis betrayed Sigurd (and worse if you take into account Deirdre) or how is Loptyr incarnate, the first thing she says when she meets him isn’t “why have you done all of those things” but “you’re a kind man”. Is it because she never took what the LA said seriously, or is it because she was more overjoyed at reuniting with her last (well Julius is a special case) family and ultimately disregarded everything else? This is also one of the reasons why “all-forgiving Julia” in the last chapter (or even post war but this goes beyond FE4) isn’t really my cup of tea, of course most important things must be done like getting rid of Loptyr, but for someone who called Arvis kind after having heard all kinds of things about him (or even witnessed his wreck of an empire) she might have mixed feelings about Seliph, he is her lord brother but also the man who killed her “kind” father.

Save for her familial drama I think heroes and Fe13 nailed something merely touched in FE4 with her “for the first time of my life i know what i’m here for” - apart from being a hilarious meta joke (a character without agency wondering about her purpose in life?) - because unlike everyone who has a reason/wanted to join the LA, Julia is just there. She was dumped there by F!Lewyn when, say, Lana explicitely wanted to be on the frontlines to help Seliph and pals. I think, for being the closest thing to “a civilian with no personal stakes in this war” Julia might raise the “morality” questions (why Ishtore/Liza, why are we attacking Thracia - even if, i know, we have less “morality” questions in FE4 than in FE5) but ultimately goes with the flow. 

However, if I had one thing to pick amongst everything would be, Julia being upset/surprised/curious about people of the Empire recognising her - first because that’s a plot hole you won’t make me buy that Blume/Danan/their kids don’t know what the Imperial Princess looks like even if she is wearing rags - and what does that mean about her (was she a member of the empire?) or about them (if they know her and don’t want to kill her are they truly bad guys heck they don’t kill they capture her, can’t she try to talk to them and ask them to stop supporting the child hunts, doing nonsense in Isaach or something else?). But I think that this plot hole can’t be avoided, else we would have the big reveal way too soon in the game.
