Amani Al’Hiza é as três coisas.

top 9 books
tagged by @gayarthur @transbuck @buddierights
thank you my loves 💖
1. summer sons by lee mandelo
words really cannot describe how phenomenal this book is. so gritty and dark and visceral and addictive and soul changing. i will be obsessed with this book until i die
2. under the whispering door by tj klune
this is one of those books that tears out your soul and makes you examine it and leaves you sobbing at 2 am but like in a good way (mostly). such an incredible look at death and life and its effects with a truly heartwarming love story
3. beach read by emily henry
not your too typical romcom. the main characters are to die for and so messy and real and i couldn't get enough of them separately and together. also did a really amazing job at balancing romance and everything else going on in the plot
4. ocean's echo by everina maxwell
without a doubt my most favorite sci-fi fantasy book. amazinggggg world building and incredibly engaging with an irresistible cast of characters
5. babel: an arcane history by r. f. kuang
the best dark academia has to offer. this book turns the genre on its head and deeply examines and critizes the systemic racism within academia in such a real and gripping way that leaves you breathless
6. we hunt the flame by hafsah faizal
incredible fantasy with a really cool magic system, true enemies to lovers that leaves you desperate and wanton, and the writing is so goddamn lyrical and breathtaking
7. sandstorm by james rollins
everything i love about a treasure hunting action movie in a book. enough said.
8. furyborn by claire legrand
this book (and the other two in the series) own me body heart and soul. politics and intrigue and rebellion and the curse of blood and power with queers everywhere you look and a truly throat gripping romance mixed in
9. rebel of the sands by alwyn hamilton
magic and gunslinging, an oppressive empire, tons of fighting and running and dying, love found in the most horrible of places-of course it is a fave

18 and 19 and 28 please thank you!
hey anon thank you for asking!
18. Do you like reading? If yes what's your favourite book?
i do very much!! i dont have one book that i like more than others so here are a few of my favourites (but the list is a lot longer lol): More Than This by Patrick Ness, The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness, The Arc of Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman, Rebel of the Sands trilogy by Alwyn Hamilton and Good Omens by Neil Gaiman of course
19. Have you ever been in love?
i dont think you can live in this world and not have been in love with a lot of things. love isn't just confined to romantic relationships. yes, ive been in love romantically but ive also been in love with sunsets that paint the sky in hues of orange and pink, with the laughter of my friends when we share inside jokes and stories late into the night, with the smell of fresh rain on dry earth, with the taste of my favourite comfort food cooked by my grandmother's hands. love is woven into the fabric of our experiences, binding us to the moments and people that bring us joy and fulfilment. it's the connection we feel to the world around us, the appreciation for the little things that make life extraordinary. so yes, in many ways, ive been in love countless times over
28. Are you a romantic?
yeah a hopeless one see previous answer

ignoreing ages/heights/wags/travis kelce, here are my thoughts on
people i think taylor would be able to date: fernando alonso, lewis hamilton, michael schumacher, jenson button (purely based on looks), nico hulkenberg (in a joe alwyn kind of way), the newer version of charles leclerc who is way more PR focused and signed with an agency
people i think would be able to date taylor: lewis hamilton, nico rosberg, oscar piastri, kimi raikkonen (maybe i am crazy but it seems like he'd be unbothered by her fame)
by "able to date" i mean people that would be okay with TS's level of fame and how busy she is, and also could vibe with her. for TS, i think "able to date" means people she could vibe with and would want to date
of course i am open to discourse
Omg not Chuck Leclerc 😂😂😂 tbh now that you’ve said it I can’t unsee it. They would actually make a BOMB couple. Only problem is Charles strikes me as a needy lil thing, and he would probably need more attention from a partner than Taylor could give him.
I don’t see it working with Michael Schumacher. The ego says no. Also too European. I see it with Fernando. He has a chill to him that I think he would take her being the bigger star with the right amount of levity.
Yes to Lewis, yes to Oscar.
I think Nico is too much of a family guy, too European, just wants a nice life. Don’t think he wants to be on tour and shit. Same with Max. Wouldn’t be bothered by the fans per se, but also wouldn’t want to be sitting in the stands when he could be at home.
I actually think Alex Albon would make the best choice for Taylor. He’s kinda already used to being a wag, his relationship with Lily proves he can make the effort in a long distance relationship and that he doesn’t always need someone to be around to manage him. Also he just seems like a really nice guy, but definitely has a secret judgemental edge which I think fits well with Taylor.

There is something that I need to address. Something I can't ignore. I've talked about it on Twitter, but I need to talk about it here, too. White authors need to stay the hell away from the stories of people of colour. There has been another controversy in the YA world over the last few days, surrounding The Hand, the Eye and the Heart by Zoë Marriott. It's a retelling of Mulan, set in China, with a nonbinary main character. People have spoken up about this, about how this book is harmful and offensive. How a white author has taken a story belonging to people of colour for herself, again, when there are so few chances for people of colour to tell their own stories. There have been white tears and white fragility, and a fellow white author being outright racist. And it's absolutely disgusting. Before I continue on the specific subject of cultural appropriation, I want to point out that the fact that the character is queer and the author is queer doesn't make this ok. Where are the books from queer POC authors? How many are there? This very specific story should be told by a queer POC author, not a white queer author. Just because you're marginalised in one way doesn't mean you get to take from another marginalised group.
This isn't the first book written by a white author that has taken from other cultures to make the stories more interesting. Cinder by Marissa Meyer - set in a futuristic China - has been called out repeatedly. Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton - set in a Middle Eastern inspired world, taking from the Islamic faith - has also been called out repeatedly. And I'm sure there are others I'm not yet aware of. White authors - you just can't write these books. "Can't" as in you shouldn't write these books, because they should be told by people of colour, but also because you're simply unable to write them without them being problematic. We can talk about sensitivity readers and research, but if your book is still offending people, then your book is problematic. Diverse books are wanted right now. There is a call out for authentic representation. But that doesn't mean, "White authors, please write marginalised people/stories into your books." It means we need people to write their own stories. We need authors of colour to tell their own stories, not have you write them instead, and stop that author of colour from having their story published.
I'm sorry, but no, you can't write about whatever the hell you want. Not any more. White authors have been able to do that for so many years, being the authors of the majority of books that have been published. It wasn't ok then, and it's not ok now - but now people won't stand for it. Haven't we white people taken enough from people of colour over the centuries? Have we not stolen enough?! White authors, you need to take a long hard look at yourself and your work, and ask, "Is/was this my story to tell?" If no, and you're still in the process of writing it, then can it. Shelve it. Leave it alone. If no, and the book is already published, then goddamn acknowledge your mistake - your harmful, offensive, problematic story - and own it. Apologise for the harm you've caused. Listen to what people are telling you about why your book is problematic. Learn from it, and do better. Just Bloody. Do. Better.
And yes, publishing is racist, and that's not something you can control. But you could stop writing these problematic stories. You could start promoting and supporting authors of colour and their stories - read and recommend them to your readers. You can check how diverse the panels you've been invited to take part on are, and refuse to be on panels that are white only. You can use your platform to support authors and readers of colour when they're being harmed by problematic books. You can do more. But stop writing people of colour's stories.
