*OWAKCX simply waves it off. He knows Simon didnt know. Despite being slightly crazy, hes not one to snap at someone for accidents. If he does most of the time its just mindless screaming, which is usually taken as normal behavior. He does scream a lot after all. Screaming, twitching, stuttering, all normals for him.*

*He reads it and stares for a moment. Thats not grammatically correct, but then again half of the time when OWAKCX writes its barely legible because his hands shake really bad. He tries though, for the most part. Hes also not quite sure if thats directed towards him, or if it was a top of the head thing. Hes had people say they care before but it be a in the moment thing or just a reflex to say they care for someone so he doesnt know how to take that.*

*Hes crazy but hes not dumb. He knows how saying you want someone can go. Hes seen it before. Hes been there before. . . but thats not a subject he likes to talk about. Anywho. He just wants Simon's confession to come off correctly, instead of a way he'd prefer it not to go. Friends help each other after all! At least- he hopes they're friends.

[ Whatever it was.. OWAKCX appeared to have successfully sliced at it. Only because it was currently making a dash straight for him. ]

*OWAKCX screeches and continues to push and dig his clawed hands into the figure as the tussle and tumble to the ground. Hes not going down without a fight! No way no how! Hes not the best fighter, at all, but he'll seriously mess whomever this is up for coming at him like that!*

*After hes pinned though, he squirms, eyes squeezed closed as he resists the urge to show he scared. Which is hard considering the fact hes trying not to scream ridiculously loud right now. No one realy likes it when he screams cuz its usually high in pitch and lasts for a long while. It also hurts to listen too.*

*However when he hears that familiar voice his eyes snap open. He twitches and stares up Simon as hes pinned to the ground. His mismatched pupils roving over Simon before he calms down, going almost limp under Simon*

Imagine looking at a character whose entire premise is that in every stage of his life, he's made every version of himself into someone that inspires people to such a degree that EVERY SINGLE VERSION OF HIM has people wanting to literally follow in his footsteps in some way or another.....

And coming to the conclusion that like.....the most important things about him are the sum of all his trappings. His entirely homemade developed from scratch could not exist if not for what he already was and brought with him BEFORE crafting this newest version of himself trappings, with his greatest trait throughout all of it being his adaptability; his ability and willingness to roll with the punches and not try to simply weather any opposition or changes to his life but instead reshape himself as needed to better fit INTO whatever new shape his life and the world around him takes. All while managing to carry the most innate, fundamental and necessary aspects of himself from one version to the next. Thus every single version of himself is different but simultaneously every single version of himself is also undeniably the same person.

The strength of this character, to me, will always be that he can be so many versions of himself, he can become so many things, all without ever actually losing or discarding any of the aspects of himself he considers most essential, the things he's not willing to lose or give up just to keep going. Finding that road not taken by most, usually because most never even think to look for it as an option. But one that he's always able to find because the one trick he's mastered in his tumultuous life is threading that needle of not just digging in his heels in an unproductive way but rather being selective about when and where he makes a stand and decides "this is not a thing I'm willing to compromise about" but here are places and ways I can and will change and evolve and adapt in order to make it possible for me to hold onto these parts and keep them as they are.

And that's why its always so mind-boggling to me that so many writers can't seem to think of anything else to do with Dick Grayson other than invent some new reason for him to just....not be that person, or to like just take the character whose most basic fundamental trait he's NOT about to compromise on is willingly giving up his spot in the driver's seat of his own life.....and make him just a passenger in his own life and stories.

Dick Grayson at age nine....at age nineteen...at age twenty nine....the one core thread running through all versions of him is the only way he's standing back and letting you call the shots for him or putting him on the sidelines in some way is over his dead body.

HOW he goes about that, what that looks like, who he becomes and what aspects of himself he plays up at some times and what traits he lets fall by the wayside at other times when they offer less in service to his primary goal here....that changes constantly. He changes constantly.

But those changes are almost always (or at least they used to be/should be IN MY OPINION) made with the intention of keeping certain things about him or his life as consistent as possible.

That's the duality of Dick Grayson that I'm here for. The inherent contradiction of him that COULD allow for endless conflict and breaking new narrative ground in all sorts of ways if mined properly:

His eternal willingness to compromise....but only ever in pursuit of doubling down on the ways he's not willing to compromise.

Forever walking that tightrope in ways that only a kid born and raised in a circus could ever hope to.

In Gotham, obviously there are. A lot more people. There, he is “the nice one” (compared to the others).

In Bludhaven? Blud-worse crime rate than Gotham-Haven, managed only by Nightwing? There’s no fuckin way.

Personally I don’t think it’s. Mainly a conscious decision or smth? Just he does more in Bludhaven and maybe ends up being generally less cheery? Or smth. He’s more willing to be (externally) tired with Bludhaven than he would be with Gotham.

Idk, smth for him to really embody the Terror of Bludhaven title yk? Nightwing is Bludhaven’s Batman; you know like, before robin and everything. He works too hard and he’s something to be scared of. He is Bludhaven’s Batman - just a bit more flippy & quippy (and a lot more friends).

*Raddy sits there for a while, simply preparing himself to actually get up. He knows that its gonna be painful, movement doesnt really seem like he best option right now, but he has to move from the spot in the bathroom. He cant stay there until whatever this is goes away. If it goes away. God he hopes it does. If it doesnt, he wont be able to handle that.*

*He runs his hands over his face before placing a palm on the floor and beginning to push himself upright. He jolts at the sudden pain shooting from his stomach to the rest of his body, bringing a hand up to cover his mouth and muffle the sudden whimper that rips from his throat. That noise makes him feel weak, almost pathetic really, despite it not being his fault hes in pain like this.*

*He pants into his palm, taking a moment to recover before swiftly pushing himself up with one smooth motion,, which doesnt bode well for him. He lurches forward and gags, the sudden movement making his nauseous, his vision slightly blurring from the pain of it. He feels lightheaded and juts a hand out to rest on the sink, holding up his slightly trembling body. Tears prick his eyes as he holds himself there, taking deep breaths and trying his damnedest to get ahold of himself before moving. It hurts to just move, its going to be hell getting to the couch.*

*He looks up from the sink, staring at his reflection. He looks terrible. He looks tired and pale and hes noticeably in pain. If he didnt know better, he'd honestly think he was dying. It looks like he might just keel over any second but thats not possible. After all, the worms wont kill him, they cant kill him, as his body heals much too fast for the worms eating away at him to kill him*

Wenda had been curled up drawing on Raddy's bed while they were watching TV, but the sound of running footsteps and the bathroom door slamming shut caught her attention. Her fur stood on end at the sound of Raddy vomiting, Wenda making quick work of going to check on him. She frantically knocked on the door, but did not open it. "Raddy? Raddy?? What's going on? Are you okay? You're getting sick? What happened? Do you need help? Do I need to come in? Are you okay?" She rambled, frantic. This isnt right, this shoudnt be possible, they shouldnt still be alive, still sliding through his body and squirming uncomfortably*

*As Wenda calls out to him, he turns his head towards the door. He goes to call back out to her, to tell her the truth but. . . what if its contagious? He doesnt want her to get what he has. She doesnt deserve that. She'd never deserve that. She never has and never will deserve worms climbing through her body and making a home of her insides. So. . . he lies*

*He hates lying to her but what else can he do? He cant just tell her that he threw up maggots and worms. How would he even bring that up? He'd seem crazy. Maggots nor worms can sustain a natural thriving life inside of a living organism after all. Its just not possible. It cant physically happen. . . and yet*
