Babylon The Great Series Masterlist
Read on A03! - Listen to the Playlist!
Main Masterlist - Dean Masterlist
Rating/Warnings: 18+ for canon-typical violence, swearing, severe mental health issues, self-harm and suicidal ideation, mentions of rape/non-con, and sexual content.
Tags: Dean Winchester/Female Reader, enemies to friends to lovers, canon divergence, slow burn, smut, angst, fluff, eventual happy ending.
Series Summary
There's something wrong with you that's not wrong with other people. You're a hunter, and a damn good one, but you might be a monster.
There might be something in you that needs to be put down. Something broken that can't be fixed.
It's why you've had one rule your whole life. The only thing your father has ever made clear is that, no matter what, you need to stay away from John Winchester. He can't even know you exist, or he'll kill you and never blink.
And when your paths cross a hunt, you should've run, but you didn't. You couldn't. Because you looked at Dean Winchester, and something changed inside of you. Something called you to him, and you can't figure out what it was, but you know it's strong. And you know that, whatever Dean's doing to you, you don't really care to fight it. Things are broken in you, just as much is broken in him, and you fit perfectly together in a way you'll never be able to describe.
But it's more complicated than that, though. The world pulls you and Dean apart again and again.
And you find your way back, again and again.
Author's Note
This story is non-canon compliant rewrite, but primarily plot wise. Think of it as we're cooking with all the same ingredients (i.e lore, characters, setting, and backstory) but with one change (you) that gets us to a drastically different ending.
What the means is that there will be a lot of similar plot points to Supernatural, but the further we go through the story the more it will diverge. I've also take some creative labor with the reader, adding lore that's defiantly not a part of canon, but crucial to this story.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask! If not, I hope you enjoy the story!
Chapter List
Chapter 1 - In My Brain and In My Blood Chapter 2 - Under My Skin Chapter 3 - I Get A Little Dizzy Chapter 4 - You Bleed Like Me Chapter 5 - If You Let Me Chapter 6 - All The Noise Chapter 7 - Something I Can See Chapter 8 - Keep Us Far Apart Chapter 9 - Does The Feeling Haunt You Chapter 10 - Look and See Chapter 11 - You Might Drown Chapter 12 - Watch You Work The Room Chapter 13 - You'll Have to Believe It Chapter 14 - Water Is Forever Chapter 15 - Before It Falls Apart Chapter 16 - Try to Catch It Chapter 17 - You Come Back Chapter 18 - You Can Start to Make It Better Chapter 19 - That's Nothing New Chapter 20 - Wait for Me Chapter 21 - If You Want To Survive (5/15)

a gentleman by heart !
pairings : nanami x reader, gepard x reader, artem wing x reader
rating : mature to explicit
wc : 1.4k
tags : reader is afab but no pronouns used, lots of kissing, established relationship, creampie, kinda rough sex, desperation, size difference if you squint, just a quick drabble abt these men
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
sexually reserved men who become feral once they get your consent.
Tumblr media
he's a gentleman in every sense of the word. he holds doors for you, buys you flowers, remembers trivial details about you- the perfect man one could ever dream of. it's not a surprise he doesn't touch you often, he would hate to make you uncomfortable. even his touch is gentle, his large hand lingering on the small of your back to guide you through the crowd. tall, handsome, kind and strong- what more could you want from a man?
sexually reserved men who, at first, would never suggest intimacy. it's a gentlemanly act, but a result of his shyness at the same time. it's almost like he's refraining himself.
he brings your hand to his lips, kissing your knuckles as his eyes stare into yours, so soft. you feel how much he loves you by any and every action of his, how can a man be so perfect?
he excuses himself as he thinks you didn't notice the bulge in his pants nor the slight blush on his cheeks. it's frustrating at this point, why won't he just initiate something else instead of adjusting himself and pretending nothing is happening? you feel dared to make him come out of his shell, to finally do something out of his gentlemanly persona. well, it's not exactly a persona, he's really just that perfect. but you're almost sure there's also something else hiding beneath the waters.
his hand brushes against your knee as he drives, a fleeting touch, one hand firmly gripping the steering wheel when the other just shy of touching your leg. so you grab his hand and place it on top of your thigh, expecting him to blush and pull his hand back.
and he gulps and fucking squeezes the flesh. he runs his hand up and down on your thigh, like he was waiting for your sign to do so. no words are exchanged as his hands moves closer and closer to your core and returns to the base of your thigh once again. you clench your thighs together, not the type of touch you were expecting from your gentle boyfriend but one you were very welcoming of.
you should've guessed it was merely a starting point.
his touches only get more and more daring as time goes on. you give him an inch and he takes a mile. you two haven't discussed this subject openly at all, yet you both knew how his hands started reaching lower when they were on you, more free. you wwante even more.
so finally, when you told him that you wanted him to take you, he was not as surprised as you would expect him to be.
"i know," he says, his hands on each side of your hips as you were seated on his lap. his eyes stare into yours before giving in and hiding his face in the crook of your neck, "and i want you too. i need you so bad-" his sharp breath hits your skin and you almost feel the inner conflict he has going on.
that's why you cup his cheeks and look into his eyes. "then take me. make me yours."
he wets his lips. "i'm afraid i won't be able to let you go if i do so."
when you respond by simply pressing your lips against his, it's like a switch has flipped. his hand comes up to grab the back of your head as he flips you over on the couch, your body trapped underneath his. his eyes are filed with passion and desperation as his lips claim yours with fervor, taking your breath away and making your hands cling onto the collar of his dress shirt, pulling him closer.
he parts away, breathless as he kisses you once again. you don't know when he takes you into his arms and when he drops you on his bed, too focused on his lips and touch to notice. "you're beautiful," he whispers as he unbuttons his shirt, eyes reveling in the sight of your disheveled hair and flushed state.
you truly were the prettiest thing he had ever seen.
he's on top of you and his lips reunite with yours, shirt discarded on the floor before his hands tug onto your top, silently begging to get it out of the way. you let him do so, and his kisses trail down to your neck when he gets rid of the fabric. your hands grab his soft hair as he sucks on the sensitive skin, low moans escaping his lips from how much he wants to do this with you. the sounds you make goes straight down to his member.
soon, both of your clothes are discarded and his hand continues to fondle your breast, pinching and pulling the hardened bud between his digits while his mouth laches onto the other. he's gentle yet so rough at the same time, not giving you the time of the day to breathe. his mouth so wet and hot against your skin, he pulls away with a pop, panting as he, not even once, breaks eye contact with you.
his dick aches at the sight of your bare pussy, glistening with slick and looking just so pretty in his ehes. he leans in, to your surprise, his tongue licking a wet stripe across your slit. he delves in, he may not be very experienced but he's quite the quick learner, memorizing every single sound you let out to his movements. he soon has you tugging on his hair, pulling his head impossibly closer to your drenched cunt, riding out your orgasm in waves as he licks you through it. he grind his own bulge against the bed, chasing some friction on his needy cock.
sexually reserved men who are just so big and thick that you gasp at the sheer size of him when he takes the final layer off. your hand is not enough to accommodate his girth, and he's so hard since the visions he played in his mind were nothing compared to seeing your naked body. "i love you," you say as your arms wrap around his neck. he smiles against your lips and repeats the phrase before gently kissing you.
but you're not even sure if that thing can fit inside you.
that's why you're panting and moaning against his shoulder, his length sliding inside of you inch by inch. it's too much, you whimper, i can't take it.
sexually reserved men who whisper in your ear after leaving another mark on your neck, "you can. do it for me."
you sigh when you get used to his size filling your walls, every prominent vein you feel grazing against you, and he starts moving. he's so gentle at first.
yet that turns into relentless pounding with you screaming his name and grab onto him for dear life as he fucks you, drunk on the way your walls wrap around his dick and the way you call out to him, all thoughts about manners thrown out the window. he swallows your moans with his mouth against yours, kissing you as rough as he's having you.
sexually reserved men who grunt as he thrusts inside, even deeper than before with his long fingers rubbing your clit, sending you over the edge as you start begging him. you don't even know what you're begging for, it just feels too good and you don't know what else to do besides to take whatever he's giving you.
he whispers in your ear, telling you how much he loves you, how beautiful you are, how well you take him and how good you are for him, his words filled with so much love, how he wanted to do this for so long. it doesn't take long for you to cum again, milking his cock as he speeds up, your added slick making it easier to slide in and out.
he was going to pull out before he hears your words telling him to fucking come inside, eyes snapping up in shock before shutting down as his cock completely disappears inside your cunt and he can't hold back anymore. you feel hot ropes of cum fill you up to the brim, so full and warm that you couldn't think of anything else for a moment.
sexually reserved men who immediately check up on you after the high wears off, asking if you're alright or if he had hurt you. you pant and tell him no, you're just too fucked out to talk.
only when he leans down to kiss you could you feel his still-hard dick press against your thigh.

ashes – day 5
Tumblr media
it really was a coincidence that you already had his number saved in your phone when he texted you.
jack: hey
one of your best friends, jenny, had another friend who came along with you all that night. she was a loud woman with blonde curls called anna and she was, you had now learned, engaged to a hockey player in the local nhl team. you'd never cared much for sports in general, and especially not hockey. anna was quick to catch up on that fact the morning after you met jack, when you were supposed to go out for brunch with jenny and anna happened to tag along.
the boy you were chatting to last night, jack, she had started, sipping her orange juice before continuing. you did get his name, right? he's a good friend of my fiancé, a great player too.
you had thought and hoped that she would be able to read from your uninterested expression that you wished for the conversation to end as soon as it started. however, she had not been the quickest to pick up on your hints.
i've never seen jack look at someone like that before, you should totally hit him up! he's single, you know.
you'd sure hope so, considering the things you were up to in his apartment.
you had told anna that you didn't want anything to do with him, but she had insisted; at least save his number, you never know!
jenny had agreed, going off for a moment about your (empty) love life and how you haven't really looked happy since you broke up with that boyfriend over a year ago. the whole conversation had made you nauseous, and you had eventually agreed to add his number to your contacts just to shut them up.
since then, you'd forgotten about it, until the moment he texted you. you spent about fifteen minutes trying to figure out some kind of response – what even do you say to "hey"?
you: how did you get my number? lol
you felt a little guilty right after sending it, the tone maybe a little harsh; you usually greeted people back when they texted you. but maybe it was for the best. you didn't want him to get any false hopes.
your phone pinged again just a minute later.
jack: from anna! she said you two talked abt me, that i should hit you up
jack: well, i WANTED to hit you up also. :)
it kind of scared you how quick your heart was to flutter in your chest. this was not supposed to happen. before you could even answer, yet another message appeared in the chat.
jack: you free for dinner tonight?
a man not afraid of a triple text should've excited you. instead you shook your head and typed a quick response.
you: dinner?...
jack: i want to take you out for dinner, is that okay?
you shouldn't even have considered it. you never before even considered meeting a one-night-stand again, especially not for dinner. maybe it was because the other part was never interested in it, maybe it was because you thought it was against all and any code of conduct. either way, it was just easier like that.
so why did your fingers suddenly live a life of their own? why was there a message from you saying yes to his request when you looked back down at your phone again?
he surprised you that night. you knew from the first time you met that he was a good listener – though, you had assumed it was just because he was trying to woo you enough to go home with him – but he was a great talker, too. not in the sense that he talked a lot, but in the sense that whenever he did talk, you found yourself realizing he was more complicated than you initially thought. he wasn't just trying to win you over; he was trying to let you see him, piece by piece, each one carefully chosen.
you didn't know what the procedures or rules were when it came to this kind of meeting. was it a date? was it just a pre-hookup meal? was it something more? nonetheless, you weren't surprised that the dinner ended with you following him home to his apartment.
he wasn't just good at listening and talking, but at making you feel good, too. you knew you were already walking on the fine line between a regular hookup and something else – not that you were sure what the other thing would be. friends with benefits (could you even be friends with benefits if you weren't friends to start with?), fuck buddies (is there even such a thing these days?), or something completely different?
curled up into his side with a duvet lazily thrown across your stomach, you distracted yourself from your many thoughts by drawing shapes into his chest. little stars, quirky stick figures, ugly cats. "something on your mind?" he asked, a chuckle rumbling beneath his chest at the sight of you cuddling closer to him.
"this... hockey thing," you started, gazing up at him for the first time in a long while. "you're pretty good, aren't you?"
there was a shrug of his shoulder, though his expression stayed plain. "i guess so."
"you have your own wikipedia page. and you were some kind of first pick, whatever that means." this, however, forced his lips into a grin. "that's not just pretty good. that's amazing."
"i guess so."
he yelped at the feeling of your hand slapping his chest, a groan slipping past his lips. "why didn't you tell me? when we first met?"
"you didn't seem like you cared," he said honestly, and you pushed yourself up a little on the bed to look at him better. "so i didn't think it was necessary. besides, it's a job like any other."
"i told you all about my studies, and you just said that you work with hockey!" you exclaimed, fingers forming quotation marks in the air. "that's hardly fair, and it's not a common job!"
"i was wearing a team cap! i assumed that if you knew, you'd say something!"
you merely shook your head, pausing for a few moments to just stare at him. "i'll forgive you for now," you say, puckering your lips. "for the low price of five kisses."
"taken."
the thing that surprised you the most was how much you enjoyed spending time with him, how easy it felt. he was handsome and had a sweet smile and he was a great lover, sure, but you still hadn't expected to have this good of a time with him. it was almost enough to make you spend the night.
almost.

I imagined RE4R Leon while writing this but please feel free to imagine any version of him you'd like!
(Read on AO3)
Sobbing in a dirty bathroom stall was definitely not how you envisioned your Friday night going.
The fact that you were also considerably drunk and could feel the liquid sloshing around inside of your belly, threatening to come up your throat and all over the floor, certainly didn't make matters any better.
You had come to the club with a group of friends who were all far more enthusiastic than you to be there. You never considered yourself much of a party person; and if you were going to attend a party, it was always a small one with people that you knew or were at least acquaintances with. At a dingy nightclub, you were surrounded by hundreds of sweaty strangers, and the music was so loud that you were sure you were going to be temporarily deaf for a while. To make the long story short – you weren't looking forward to coming here, but you regrettably let your friends drag you out of the comfort of your home.
The stupid leather pants your friends insisted you wore were feeling too tight. The bathroom was so stuffy and unbearably hot. There were two individuals in the stall next to you engaging in… a certain activity that you really didn't want to be around to hear. And the awful, terrible smell of puke was probably one of the worst things you've ever smelled in your entire life. It was all too much, every single one of your five senses being mercilessly attacked.
You shouldn't have let yourself get wasted; you knew that, and you mentally cursed yourself for such reckless behavior. But the longer you sat at the bar, completely by yourself and with your friends nowhere in sight, it was like no one was there to stop you. You still missed him and you thought alcohol would be better at numbing the pain than a tub of ice cream. Both were terrible items for getting over a heartbreak because they both only made you want to vomit, which is something you always learned the hard way.
That's how you ended up in a stall, tears freely running down your cheeks in a drunken haze. Your friends were on your mind, but more than anything you just wanted to be carried out of here. You grabbed your phone out of your bag and opened up your contacts. But for some reason, instead of clicking on one of your friend's names, you kept scrolling further down, subconsciously searching for that specific name that you knew you should've just deleted a long time ago.
You clicked on the little phone icon, and listened attentively to the ringing on the other end. It rang and rang and rang, and it went on for so long that it almost snapped you out of the very stupid thing you were doing, but then–
"Hello?"
Leon actually answered. And even after all this time, his voice was still the most soothing sound in the world. You cleared your throat before attempting to put together a sentence in response.
"Hey… I'm… I'm, uh, in a gross bathroom at, um… fuck, what was the name of this place…" you trailed off, your cheeks heating up out of embarrassment. You rubbed your forehead, trying to think despite how hard it was to do.
Leon was silent for a bit on the other end before speaking up.
"___? Are you okay? It's… really late."
You chuckled, a burp coming out alongside the sound. "I know, right? What the fuck am I even doing here?"
"___, listen to me. Are you alright? Why did you call?" Leon asked. You could just faintly hear shuffling on the other end, and the unmistakable sound of keys jingling, as if he was already gathering his things before you even told him the location. Your heart fluttered at that and even more warmth was sent to your cheeks.
"No. No, I'm not alright. I feel really fucking sick right now and I don't know where my friends are and I fucking hate being here and-"
"Slow down, sweetheart," Leon said. If the alcohol didn't kill you, the pet name that Leon apparently still liked using for you would.
Leon fell quiet on the line, almost as if suddenly realizing the word that had slipped from his mouth.
"Sorry, I mean– look, tell me where you are. Do you want me to come and get you?"
There was a voice in your head screaming at you to just say no. Your friends were a text message away. If they saw the state you were in they'd take you home in a heartbeat. You knew the right thing to do was apologize to Leon, hang up, and get your ass out of the bathroom stall to find your group. But the alcohol was clouding your judgment, and the rational part of you simply didn't exist right now. Going back to Leon's apartment was like reopening a wound that had just healed. But you couldn't deny how much you needed him in this moment, no matter how pathetic it sounded. He had been on your mind the entire time you were at the club, and hell, even if you had been sober you probably would have ended up back at his place anyway. Because you simply didn't know how to stay away from things that you walked away from.
"Yes. Please come and get me." You replied softly, your words shaky with sorrow and guilt, your voice cracking.
"On my way. Stay put, okay?"
____
"___?"
Your eyes opened slowly. The side of your mouth felt wet with drool. Your brows furrowed as you took in your surroundings.
"___, are you in here?"
Your eyes widened a bit more upon registering whose voice was calling for you. You immediately sat up, trying to adjust your hair and straighten your shirt – before quickly giving up, because you knew no amount of adjusting would make you look like less of a hot mess.
"In here," you called out, not bothering to get up and open the door as your legs felt like they didn't work and any small movement would've caused you to expel your breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
You saw two feet stop right in front of the door. You recognized those boots anywhere. They were your favorite pair.
"Are you… decent? Can I open the door?" Leon asked. You nodded, before quickly realizing he can't hear the movement of your head.
"Yeah," you replied weakly. Leon did just that, opening the stall door slowly.
God, you wanted the ground to swallow you up right then and there. You knew you looked terrible, disgusting even. Your ex, on the other hand, still looked as gorgeous as ever, with his dirty blonde hair slightly longer than the last time you saw it and prettily falling into his deep blue eyes. He was wearing a form fitting black shirt that left nothing to the imagination with a pair of blue jeans and his expensive brown coat.
You averted your gaze out of pure embarrassment. Leon had never seen you in this state and you wish he hadn't. You wished you could turn back time and call your friends instead of him.
Leon kneeled in front of you in the cramped space, gently lifting your chin and making you look him in the eyes. The action only made you feel smaller.
"Hey, let me see you," he started, his gaze softening as he observed you.
"What happened? Nobody-" his jaw clenched. "Nobody did anything to you, right?"
You shook your head. You didn't trust your voice enough to speak.
"Okay, good. You just drank too much?"
You nodded that time.
Leon seemed physically relieved, his shoulders relaxing a bit as he stood back up. He held out his hand.
"Can you stand?" He asked. You muttered out something that sounded like a "yes," taking his hand and slowly rising off the toilet seat. You almost toppled over, but Leon was there to steady you.
"Put your arm around my shoulder." He instructed, but he was already moving your arm for you. You gladly took ahold of his shoulder as his hand held your wrist; his other arm was wrapped around your waist, holding you firmly. The two of you walked out of the bathroom together, ignoring the stares from other club goers.
The both of you made outside, and the cool air was a pleasant sensation to your extremely warm body. Leon helped you into your car, handling you like you were made of glass, before getting into the driver's side himself. He buckled you up first, leaning over you to pull the strap across your chest. His breath was fanning across your face, and you felt your heart rate skyrocket. You gazed at him with tired eyes, and he returned the eye contact briefly, his eyes mostly unreadable, but definitely filled with concern no less.
Once he was buckled up himself, he took off, and you just closed your eyes, hoping and praying that the motion of the car wouldn't cause any sudden hurling.
The car ride was mostly silent; aside from the radio that Leon had turned up slightly, playing some rock song, you were far too exhausted to say anything. You didn't even know what to say, anyway, and it seemed like Leon didn't either.
Eventually, when he stopped at a light, he spoke for the first time in several long minutes. "Your friends – did they abandon you?"
You shook your head. "No… I was the one who split from them. Told them I wanted to be alone."
"But they didn't even check on you?"
You glanced at him and noticed his tense jaw had returned, and his grip on the steering wheel tightened.
"They're all probably shit-faced, too." You replied dryly.
Leon sighed. "I… sure, I guess. Then that brings me to my next question… Why did you go over your limit? You could've put yourself in danger."
You shrugged, gazing out the window.
"I really don't know," you lied.
"God, ___, don't do something like this again. Please." Leon replied.
"I'm… sorry." You said. What you were apologizing for exactly, you weren't sure. For worrying him? For making him come all the way out here to save you like a damsel in distress? The more you thought about it, the more you leaned toward all of the above.
Leon seemed to relax again upon hearing your soft-spoken apology. "There's no need for that, I just…" a sigh. "You should rest. We're almost home."
Home.
You let your eyes slowly drift closed again. The last thing you saw was the sight of Leon driving with one hand, still wearing that unreadable expression.
____
Leon was quick to help you out the car after finding a parking spot. He guided you up the steps to the second floor of the complex, walking to his door. You leaned against him while he fiddled with his keys.
He eventually got the door open, helping you walk through the door. As he walked you through his living room to the bathroom, rather slowly as your feet were slightly dragging across the floor, you took in the familiar space around you. Leon's apartment was, of course, just how you remembered it. He had few decorations, most of them put up by you. His raggedy, but deceptively comfortable couch was somehow still standing strong. His place looked well lived-in; not terribly disorganized, just slightly cluttered. Given the nature of his career and how often he was away, he was never home long enough to let huge messes pile up anyway. You felt a smile tug at your lips as memories crawled back into your mind.
You remembered shopping with Leon for his decorations shortly after you moved in. He pretended to be indifferent, but you'll never forget the grin on his face as he helped you hang up some abstract paintings with poorly hidden amusement. That very couch was often where you spent your time resting your head on Leon's shoulders, or sometimes his head on your lap. The kitchen was where you and Leon made huge messes together, doing more kissing than cooking.
But your smile slightly faded as memories of the tail end of your relationship tainted your mind. Waiting alone for Leon to return home for a mission, worrying yourself sick. Sometimes Leon was distant, going from attentive and caring to cold and unresponsive in a heartbeat. You knew his trauma made it difficult for him to be fully present in the relationship – but sometimes you acted harshly anyway, both out of frustration and out of concern. His career was eating away at you, too.
The sound of running water pulled you out of your thoughts. You quickly registered that Leon had sat you down on his toilet. After wetting a washcloth, he leaned down in front of you again.
"I'm just gonna wipe your face, alright?" He said. You nodded, closing your eyes.
Leon wiped your face with the washcloth ever so gently, dabbing away dried drool and removing the light sweat that had formed across your forehead. He even went as far as to brush your teeth for you, thoroughly reaching every inch of your mouth to the best of his ability. Somehow, even during this, you found yourself dozing off a few times.
"You don't have to wash up now if you're too tired." Leon said once he had finished a portion of your nighttime routine for you. He stood in front of you while you were still seated, waiting for your next move.
You wanted nothing more than to wish the stink of the nightclub off your skin, but your eyelids were getting heavier by the second.
"Take me to bed, Leon." You muttered, wrapping your hands around his waist and leaning against his torso.
Leon found himself grinning at how much of a koala you became when sleepy and drunk. With one hand, he played with your hair for a bit as you continued holding him. You sighed contently as you felt yourself slip away in the sensation. Leon looked down at you, feeling something tug at his heart strings at how vulnerable you looked like this. The warmth from your arms around his waist brought Leon to a painful realization – that he missed your touch more than he thought.
Leon tried to store that thought away. You'd be gone by the morning, right? He couldn't allow himself to open up to you after all this time. You had made the choice to walk away and as far as he knew, you hadn't changed your mind.
He gently tapped your arms, causing you to stir a bit.
"If you want me to take you to bed, you have to get up first." He said teasingly. You groaned, but reluctantly did what he asked. Even while standing, your eyes were barely open.
"Do you wanna change?” He asked.
“Into what?” You said sleepily, words slurring together.
“I can give you one of my shirts and a pair of my pants. I don't mind.”
You just nodded, leaning into Leon's side, your head falling onto his shoulder.
Leon walked you to his bedroom, grabbing some clothes for you as you stood there patiently, your eyes half open. He gave you an old shirt of his and some gray sweatpants.
You began stepping out of your gross nightclub clothes right in front of Leon, who didn't seem to mind – he helped keep you from stumbling as you got dressed.
“This is so much better.” You said, feeling free and unconstrained now that you were out of those awful leather pants. Leon found himself holding back a grin at the way you were happily rubbing at the fabric of his shirt.
“Let's get you to bed.” He spoke.
He assisted you in getting cozy under the large comforter, even going as far as to tuck you in.
Leon's scent washed over you as you sunk into the softness of his mattress. You almost instantly succumbed to slumber, subconsciously burying your head into Leon's pillow.
For a long time, Leon just stared.
You were safe now, finally out of that awful nightclub and resting comfortably. He felt the tension leave his body, and he could finally go about his nightly routine at ease knowing you were taken care of.
Seeing you in his bed like this reminded him of the nights he came home late. Those nights, he'd crawl into bed next to you, holding you close as if you'd disappear into thin air. Strangely, despite the fact that he was looking directly at you, this was another moment where he felt like you'd cease to exist if he so much as looked away.
But he eventually forced himself to look away, sighing to himself as he went back to the bathroom to freshen up himself. He decided to sleep on the couch, falling asleep with you in his mind and still feeling the phantom touch of your arms around his waist.
____
Upon slowly opening your eyes, squinting slightly at the sunlight filtering through the room, it didn't take you long to notice the splitting headache that pulsated uncomfortably right behind your eyes. You also took note of the fact that you were clad in Leon's clothing.
You pinched the bridge of your nose, your face bunching up in pain at your awful hangover. You were mentally chastising yourself, as you knew that this terrible headache could've been easily avoided had you not gone past your limit the night before. It was at the moment, as you were lying on your back and staring at the familiar sight of Leon's apartment ceiling, that all of the memories from last night came rushing back to you.
You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment, feeling a sense of shame wash over you. You barely remember anything from last night, but you knew that when you were shit-faced you turned into a giant child, and you were already feeling apologetic for putting Leon through your drunken antics. You didn't even want to get out of bed and face the man.
So, you did just that; you lied there for a few extra minutes, absolutely dreading the moment when you would have to get up eventually. You sighed, rolling over on your side, facing the closed bedroom door. It was then that you noticed the tall glass of water and bottle of painkillers on the bedside table.
You sat up slowly, feeling your heart warm at Leon's thoughtfulness. You took one pill from the bottle, swallowing it down in one large gulp of water.
You also noticed your phone on the table. Curiously, you checked to see if your phone was even alive – which it was, much to your surprise, but the battery was low. You saw numerous text messages from your acquaintances last night. Some of them were just talking about how much fun they had and thanking you for coming out. Others seem concerned about where you had gone. You didn't feel like replying to any of them, so you promptly shut your phone off. You needed to save your battery, anyway, as you didn't have a charger. You left your phone in its place on the table.
You sat in Leon's bed for a little longer after that, sighing to yourself, before getting up to go find where he was.
You didn't have to look very far after opening the door; there Leon stood in the kitchen, occupied with making breakfast. It seemed like he didn't notice your presence at first, so you took that opportunity to gaze at him, grinning softly at the concentrated look on his face as he flipped over a pancake, his hair falling into his eyes. He looked cuter than ever, clad in his well-loved plaid pajama pants and a loose black shirt. It felt strange, seeing him like this again after so many months.
“Morning, sleepyhead.” Leon suddenly spoke, still turned away from you. You were slightly startled, quickly averting your gaze.
“Morning,” you said softly. “Did you know I was standing here the whole time?”
“Of course I did,” Leon replied, finally turning to you with a pretty smile on his face, one that you couldn't help but immediately return. “Government training helped me with my awareness, y'know.”
You chuckled at that, making your way over to the dining table and taking a seat. Resting your chin in your hand, you watched Leon lovingly, a comfortable silence settling between you.
“Need a hand with anything?” you asked.
“Nah, it's alright. I'm almost done, anyway.” Leon replied. “By the way, how did you sleep?”
“Like a baby. I forgot how comfortable your bed was.” you said.
Leon grinned. “That's good. And your head?”
“It's feeling better. Thanks for the medicine, by the way.”
“Of course.” Leon replied.
Eventually, he carried to the table two plates of food, along with two tall glasses of orange juice. It was a simple breakfast, consisting of just pancakes, but it was totally fine by you. They looked fluffy and perfectly cooked and you didn't hesitate to dive in.
Leon just watched you eat in silence, a small grin on his face as he watched you do a little happy dance upon taking a bite. He wasn't really showing it, but he was very pleased with himself; not just because he made you a decent plate of pancakes but because you were here with him, out of that grimy nightclub, content and being taken care of. Leon felt a tug at his heartstrings as he realized just how much he missed taking care of you.
“Leon. Are you gonna eat?” you said with a chuckle, nearly done with your food. Leon seemed to snap out of whatever trance you had put him in, quickly glancing at his untouched plate of food.
“Yeah. Sorry.” He said in a slightly bashful way that made you swoon. He finally had begun eating, thoughtfully chewing, taking his time.
You leaned back in your chair, feeling completely satiated. For a while, the two of you just sat in comfortable silence. It dawned on you that eventually you'd have to leave, sadness beginning to wash over you like waves.
“What's the matter?” Leon suddenly spoke. “Be honest, were the pancakes actually terrible?” He said jokingly. That got you smiling again, and you let out a small, half-hearted laugh.
“Leon, they were fucking amazing,” you replied sincerely. You smiled then faltered a bit. “I just… I still feel bad.”
Leon, who was also sitting lax in his chair, had straightened up, his eyebrows furrowing slightly as he gazed warmly at you.
“About?” He inquired.
You sighed, looking down at your lap. Suddenly eye contact was too much right now.
“For last night. I know I've already apologized but… seriously, I'm really sorry for making you drive all the way out there. And for worrying you.”
Leon shook his head, looking at you with an expression that could only be read as sympathetic.
“I've said it before and I'll say it again – you don't have to apologize, okay? If anything, I'm glad you called me. It meant that you trusted me to ensure your safety; and that made me feel good.”
You felt your heart warm at that. You continued to stare down at your lap, twiddling your thumbs, still hesitant to let him into your gaze.
“Can you look at me? Please?” Leon said ever so softly. The gentle, almost desperate tone of voice was enough to get you to finally raise your head and meet his eyes.
“There you are,” he said fondly. “I want you to know that you can always call me. For anything. And if you need me, I'll be there. We're not… together anymore but that doesn't mean I'm just gonna step out of your life, okay? I still care about you. Always will.”
You were effectively silenced, so deeply touched by Leon's words that you couldn't even produce any of your own. Suddenly your vision began to blur and your bottom lip was quivering.
Your friends – really, just your co-workers – who had practically forgotten about you at that club? They probably didn't care about you all like they claimed to. But if there was one person that would always stand up for you, help you, tend to your needs – it was Leon. It had always been him.
With a shaky voice, you responded, “Thank you, Leon. I… still care about you, too. So much. I totally owe you after last night.” you said with a playful smile, although you were honestly very serious.
“No, it's okay. You don't owe me anything. I was just doing what a good friend is supposed to do.”
Friend.
You brushed the word off, ignoring the pang of disappointment that hit you. You simply smiled at him.
Clearing your throat, you started another topic. “So, um… I guess since I'm here, we should catch up a bit. It's been so long since I've last spoken to you.”
Leon shrugged. “Honestly? I don't have much to catch you up on. I've just been doing what I always do, lounging around, working, occasionally going out with Claire and Chris. You know me, I'm a boring guy.”
“You are not at all boring, Kennedy,” you said teasingly.
“You know, it's okay to admit it.” He replied, and you could only shake your head, laughing quietly to yourself.
“You're literally a government agent. That's the opposite of boring.”
“Well, what a lot of people don't know is that being a government agent also comes with a shit-ton of paperwork.”
“I suppose,” you said with a completely playful roll of your eyes. “Anyway, Claire and her brother doing well?”
“They're doing great. They're always asking about you.”
You felt guilt begin to rear its ugly head at Leon's comment. “I haven't spoken to them in a while too… God, I'm terrible.” You said.
“Hey, don't make it a huge deal. They know how busy you are. They still care about you too. You could go a thousand years without speaking to them and they'd still be excited to hear from you.”
“That's nice to know.” You replied. You made it a mental note to get in contact with them soon.
The dining table fell quiet again. There was this undeniable tension in the air, one that the two of you couldn't shake. As much as you hated to admit it, you had missed sitting at Leon's dining table, sitting across from him specifically, sharing peaceful mornings together. You knew that eventually you'd have to leave; you'd part ways with Leon once more. You wish you could say that'd be easy to do.
Leon pulled you out of the recesses of your mind when he suddenly stood up, grabbing the two plates and cups. You silently watched as he went over to the sink, turning on the faucet.
Without even thinking, you stood up as well, joining him in the kitchen.
“Let me help you,” you said, not even giving him the choice.
Leon shook his head, like you knew he would. “It's alright, I got it. I know you've probably got things to do, so I understand if you need to go-”
“Things to do? Like what?” You interrupted with a playful grin. “I want to help, Leon, please.”
“It's only a few dishes.”
“I know– look, stop being so stubborn and let me help. Please.” You said, taking a plate out of his hand and grabbing a washcloth to help with drying. Leon just chuckled, having paused his washing for a bit to admire you.
“You haven't changed.” He spoke.
“What do you mean?” You asked as you put the plate back in its respective cabinet. You didn't even need to ask where it went – it was muscle memory for you.
“I mean… always wanting to help with stuff. It's what I've always liked about you.” Leon replied, handing you a newly washed cup. You took it, slowly, still processing his words. You felt a certain warmth throughout your body, trying to distract yourself from the feeling by rather furiously drying the glass.
“That's just how I am. Can't help it.” You replied shyly, your voice coming out small.
“I know. You should consider being an agent since you like helping so much.” Leon teased. You were putting the glass up when he had said that and weren't looking directly at him, but you could hear the smirk in his voice. It made you smile.
“Absolutely not.” You replied immediately, to which the both of you broke out into laughter, the sound filling the kitchen.
The two of you finished doing the dishes fairly quickly, falling into an easy rhythm. It all felt too familiar. The both of you fell into your usual banter so easily, and it was almost like you two hadn't just spent months apart.
You ended up helping Leon clean his entire kitchen after the dishes, chatting with him every second and moving around each other with the sort of ease you can only get when you've spent enough time in one place to memorize everything. You told Leon that you didn't mind helping him knock out a few chores, which was true; you knew how busy he was and how he was usually too tired to take care of things like this himself. But deep down, the true reason why you were still here was because you just didn't want to leave. But you kept that part buried within you. It was difficult coming to terms with what that meant and you didn't want to think about it.
“Does anything else need tidying?” You asked him once you finished wiping the kitchen counter. Leon looked around, seemingly thinking for a moment, before shaking his head.
“Nah, it's all good. But I appreciate it.”
Your grin faltered a bit. You knew you had to go. You had been here for hours now.
“Ah, okay,” you said, trying to hide the dejection in your voice. “Well, um… I guess I should get out of your hair then.”
Leon perked up at that. “You don't have to leave.” He said quickly. He then cleared his throat, looking away. “I mean, uh– if you don't want to, you can stay as long as you want.”
You wanted to more than anything else. But the right thing would be to leave, even though that went against your heart's desires. Who knows what you'd end up saying– or doing– if you stayed. Whatever it'd be, you'd probably regret it.
“I should really go.” You said quietly. Leon just silently nodded. His expression was unreadable yet again.
After making sure you had all your belongings, and unfortunately having to change back into your cursed club outfit for the time being, you now stood in front of the door. Leon had changed out of his pajamas too, looking as handsome as ever in a simple pair of jeans, a black shirt, and boots.
Since your friends had driven you to the club, and Leon drove you to his place, he'd have to drive you back. You were waiting for him after he had said he had to find his keys. You took one long, final glance around his house as you stood there with a heavy heart.
Quite a bit of time had passed, though, and you were about to call out to Leon, as you noticed he seemed to be taking longer than you expected. You figured he just needed help searching for his keys, so you jogged over to his bedroom, where you saw him enter.
When you walked in, he was kneeling in front of a cardboard box. His closet door was open, so you presumed that's where the box came from. Your brows pinched together in confusion.
“Leon? I can help with finding your keys-”
“Oh, I have my keys. I just, um… suddenly remembered something.” He said, a bit cryptically.
You were still visibly puzzled. “Remembered what?” you asked, walking a bit closer to see the contents of the box. And then you realized.
In the box was some jewelry of yours, one of your shirts, and a bottle of perfume that you had forgotten at his home ages ago.
Your heart warmed at the fact that Leon kept them safe and tucked away in his closet, almost as if he was waiting for the day to return them to you.
“I completely forgot about these,” he said, standing up to face you. He rubbed the back of his neck. “Sorry. I've been meaning to give these back.”
You just smiled, feeling so incredibly touched and endeared.
“It's okay, Leon. I didn't even realize I was missing these items.” You said with a chuckle. You kneeled down yourself, sifting through the contents of the box and reminiscing. The perfume especially reminded you of so many date nights and all the times Leon told you how nice you smelled.
“You know, that reminds me,” You began, feeling the cotton of your old, worn t-shirt that lay perfectly folded in the box. “I think I still have one of your sweatshirts. The old RPD one.”
You knew you did. It was still in your closet, hidden away. Not forgotten, just out of sight.
“You can keep it.” Leon said. “You looked better in it anyway.”
You felt that familiar heat rush to your face again. Even after all this time, his words still affected you.
“Well, um… thanks.” You replied.
“It's nothing.”
You stood up, holding the box, and the two of you walked back to the door. Every step felt heavier than the last.
You watched as Leon was about to open the door for you. But in that moment, as he was about to turn the knob, something within you snapped.
“Wait.” You said.
Leon paused, turning to look at you. “Did– did you forget something?” He asked.
You shook your head. You slowly put the box down on the floor, gently kicking it aside.
“I don't wanna leave, Leon.”
Leon still seemed perplexed. “I told you, you can stay as long as you-”
“No, I mean… I'm not leaving… again.”
It didn't take long for the realization to hit Leon. He was silent for a bit, unsure of how to proceed, or what to say.
“I need you to be more clear.” He said simply.
You stepped closer to him. You nearly reached your hand out, wanting to gently stroke his hair like you always used to do, but you weren't sure if he was ready to jump back into physical affection like that. You restrained yourself.
“I want to try again, Leon. I'm so sorry for how I treated you. At the time, I didn't understand your trauma – I failed to accommodate you. When I left… I realized how shitty I had been. How much I had missed you. I dated other people and none of them gave me what you did. You were too good to me and I was too selfish. I'm sorry, and I want you to know that I've grown. I will try my best to meet you where you are from now on if you just let me back in.”
You said all of this while staring directly into Leon's captivating eyes, sincerity in your tone and in the way you gazed at him. You hoped Leon could feel your guilt. Your remorse.
Leon just stared back, stunned into silence. You could tell his mind was racing, searching for what to say, processing everything you had told him. You were prepared for him to say no. You were bracing for the heartbreak. You wouldn't be upset, no. You'd be understanding. You were ready to leave for good if that's what he wanted.
But heartbreak isn't what you got.
“Thank you. For apologizing.” Leon said. “I should, too. I wasn't being totally honest about my line of work. And dating a government agent isn't necessarily an easy thing to handle. It was probably traumatic for you, too, seeing me come home so damaged, physically and mentally.
“And for the record, I don't think you were being selfish. You wanted to help, I know you did, you just didn't know how and it was frustrating.”
You felt a stinging sensation in your eyes, your emotions nearly meeting their boiling point, tears threatening to spill. Deep down, you didn't think Leon had anything to apologize for, considering everything he's been through and seen, but you were appreciative of his apology nonetheless. It warmed your heart to know that he never resented you when you were together, like you always thought he did.
“So… should we try this again?” you said, a playful glint in your watery eyes.
Leon grinned. “We should.”
At that, you couldn't hold back any longer. You went in for a hug, wrapping your arms around his neck snugly. He wasted no time in wrapping his around your waist. Being back in his arms again felt like a dream.
You brought a hand up to his hair, running your fingers through it. You felt Leon relax even more at the soft touch.
With your lips close to his ear, you whispered:
“I never stopped loving you.”
Leon pulled away a bit, his hands just lightly resting on your waist.
“Neither did I.”
A pause. You felt his breath fan across your face.
“Can I kiss you?” You asked, already grinning like a lovesick teenager.
“Please.” Was all Leon said before you leaned in, your lips finding purchase on top of his, bodies pressed close together.
You had a hunch that making yourself at home again wouldn't be difficult at all.

Saturday comes and it’s very uneventful. Your father says he's got some plans with his friend Mihawk and you use the free time to clean up the rest of your room - there were still a lot of trophies and books from when you were a child, but now it finally resembles a grown-up room.
Your initial plans for the afternoon included a marathon of trash TV and plopping down on the couch like a parasite, maybe even gobbling up some junk food. But it's such a nice day outside that you decide to do some sunbathing.
And you do. You dress in a simple red two-piece bikini and lather sunscreen on your body before heading outside armed with your headphones, a book and a towel. The backyard has a little wooden deck with two sun chairs and a small pool. The pool is closed but you're not really interested in it. So you get your little setup and sigh in relaxation. You never had moments like these in the city. Ichiji liked the fancy parties and clubs, there was barely any time the both of you spent together like this.
In retrospect, you should've seen the end of the relationship coming. You barely had anything else to give each other. It was only a matter of time.
You cosy up on the chair and stretch. It feels really nice.
The view of the property is relaxing and the only house you can see in the proximity is Mr. Garp’s. The houses are only separated by a small path and you can see the windows perfectly well. You know which one was Luffy’s old room, you have been there a bunch of times, but you don't quite know which one is Ace's.
You try to guess based on the knowledge you have of the inside of the house. It's either the one to the right of Luffy’s, or it's the one that faces the side of the house.
A small smile creeps its way to your lips as you remember your time together at the firestation. Being with Ace felt really natural. You didn't have to force any conversation, he made you laugh and, damn, the chemistry. The sexual tension was crazy.
But there is only a slight problem. You aren't looking to be just another one. You are no longer in that phase of your life when you're just looking for fun. You want something actually meaningful. And Ace is not meant for meaningful relationships. He isn't capable of it.
You exchanged some texts with Nami last night saying that you had fun and she had probed you so hard that you caved and admitted you feel very attracted to Ace. But then you probed her, and every assumption you had about him was correct. He is a player and leaves behind him a long trail of broken hearts. He's all about the chase and the conquest. Once he gets the kiss, the girl, the fuck… It's over.
And you refuse to be just that.
The afternoon rolls by lazily and you have already rolled over on your back and on your front, just like a happy kitten. Until you see a movement in Ace's house.
It’s him.
You were right, his room is next to Luffy’s. He stands in front of the window - shirtless - and unaware that you are there, apparently, since he’s staring somewhere else, his signature cheeky grin in place, and you smile. Damn, he’s cute.
Off-limits, player, just a crush!
Can he see you? Could he be tempted to join you in the sun?
Immediately your head starts to create interesting scenarios for both of you to play out.
Ace arriving with his cocky smirk and telling you that you look gorgeous.
Ace setting a knee in the middle of your legs to pry them open as his hand cradles your neck to pull your face up.
His other hand clutching your hip for dear life. His tongue licking the sweat from your body, from your belly to your chest.
The hottest kiss you could ever dream of, eliciting all kinds of choked noises and mewls from your mouth.
You take a deep breath and fan your hat over your face. Maybe it's time to get out of the sun? You're getting pretty hot!
You gather your book and start to get up when you take another look at Ace's window. And then instantly freeze and regret having looked at all.
There is a young brunette girl in front of the window, grinning while she closes the curtains.
Your breath catches for an instant. And then the dread in your stomach spreads its icy tendrils up to your heart.
It's nothing short of a surprise. It's what he does. His modus operandi. But the realisation still stings. Just last night he told you that he's always thinking about you. Your mind told you, at that moment, that it was a line he used on every girl, yet, your heart thought differently.
But today, not even 24 hours later, he has a girl in his room.
You refuse to cry. Even if the tears are more of frustration and about how gullible you are, more than anything else.
Yet, you should've known. You were warned.
-*-
Ace keeps sending you texts asking how you are and if you want to hang out. You keep leaving him unread. You're still pretty pissed at him, even though you know you have no right to be. He's not your anything.
Then you get another text. It's Nami this time, so you open it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You miss Luffy! Ace told you he also works at the firestation, but since he no longer lives with his grandfather, you still haven’t gotten the chance to hang out with him. You’ll definitely go to this party. Even if you’re sure to run into Ace and whatever girl he’s with right now…
Tumblr media
This triggers Nami, so she instantly calls you.
“What are you talking about?”
“Forget it, Nami. It's nothing new. I just saw him through the window of his room with some girl.” You force out a laugh. “Nami, it's just a silly attraction. Nothing else. I just think he's really hot!”
“Babe, if you keep thinking about him I think you should just ride that cowboy… Scratch that itch… You get my drift? Take it out of your head and then that's it!”
“You sound ridiculous.”
“Yet no wiser words have ever been spoken.”
“Maybe, but I'm not interested in being just another notch under his belt. I'd much rather be just a friend.” You reiterate.
“From what I hear, I’d say it's your loss!” She chuckles. “But you're still coming to the party, right?”
“Yes, obviously.” You agree with a chuckle.
“And if Ace's there with his bimbo?”
“Good riddance to both. I just want to be friends with him, anyway.”
You can almost hear the eye roll on the other end. But to her credit, she doesn't say anything.
“Deal. We'll meet at your house to get ready. It's closer. I'll tell Robin.”
You agree and after hanging up, there's still a small smile pressed upon your lips. Nami is a friend and she makes you happy. Ace is also a friend. You shouldn't be mad at him.
Therefore, you open his texts and finally answer him, claiming to have been busy. Forgetting all about the brunette bimbo and simply focusing on your friendship.
Just like Nami, he gets tired of texting and calls you.
“Hey gorgeous. I thought you were ghosting me.”
You lie back on the bed and roll your eyes. “Don't call me gorgeous. And I could never ghost you. I've just been busy.”
“Yeah, I get it. I've had a busy day as well.” He chuckles and the cold in your stomach spreads.
“I bet…” You mumble.
Friends! Friends! Friends!
“I can't call you princess and I can't call you gorgeous, what do you want me to call you then?”
Why is his chuckle so damn sexy over the phone?
“My name, genius! What else?”
“I'll get back to you about that.” Another chuckle. “Have you heard about my little brother’s party?”
“Nami is my friend, how could I not?” You chuckle.
“Right, right. Are you going?”
“Yeah.”
“Good. Me too, obviously.”
Then he proceeds to tell you about the busy day he had helping his grandfather with some affairs at the house and about some paperwork he still had to do from this week's occurrences at the firestation and you tell him about your day.
He doesn't mention the brunette. And neither do you.
Somehow, the time goes by and you end up talking with Ace for almost two hours straight. Just like you were musing earlier, he's so easy to talk with. So natural, so fun.
Shanks knocks lightly on the door and pokes his head inside. “Bug? Dinner's ready.”
You rise immediately, sitting on the bed with wide eyes. Dinner already? You didn't even realise it was already dinner time, and you had meant to cook it. Shanks must have realised that you were taking too long on the phone and did it himself.
“Oh! Right. I'll be right down, dad. Ace I've got to go. Talk to you tomorrow, bye.”
Shanks bites his cheek, his brows scrunched. It looks as if he wants to say something, but he's considering that it's not his place to do so. So he smiles at you and begins to walk downstairs to the kitchen and you follow.
The first minutes of the meal are spent in silence until you start telling him about your day. Then, abruptly he talks.
“Bug… Is your relationship with Ace advancing?”
The fork stops midway to your mouth and you feel your cheeks burn.
“I know it's not really my place. You are an adult and I was not a present father in your life. Believe me, I regret it most days. Maybe if I had tried a little harder, you and your mother could still be together and you'd have grown up with me. Maybe I had more right to butt into your business. But I worry… and… well…”
“Dad, Ace and I are just friends. Nothing else. He's really easy to talk with and we have a lot of the same interests. He's fun. But that's it. Don't worry.”
You can almost see the relief in Shanks’ face. And you almost feel bad about the way Ace really makes you feel. Because your father's worry is not at all misplaced. Ace is dangerous for impressionable hearts.
“Friends? Okay, okay. That's good.”
You just have to make sure your heart is not impressionable and that friends are all you and he will ever be. That's all you want to be.
-*-
The next morning passes by pretty fast as you help your dad with the chores and get the horses and the ponies ready for the Summer Jubilee. Shanks is going to have a horse riding station, mostly for the kids, but sometimes adults like to join too.
“How's your back, dad?”
“I'm managing. I'm still taking the pills.”
“Don't overdo it, alright? Are you sure you don't need me there to help you?”
“No, baby, Beckman will be there to help me. You know he loves these horses. You go and have fun at your party.”
Benn Beckman is one of your dad’s oldest friends. They used to play some sport together in school and they both never left town, so it’s a natural friendship, like yours with Nami and Robin. The festival only starts on Monday, but the vendors and concessionaires that will have their businesses at the fair are going to use Sunday to set up and you feel as if you should be helping your dad instead of going to a party.
Shanks winks, and you laugh. “I will, dad.”
“Just not too much fun…” He grumbles, beneath his breath and you roll your eyes as you climb the stairs to take a bath and wait for the girls.
-*-
“Ohhh, I've got the perfect dress for you!” Nami claps excitedly and you roll your eyes to the back of your head.
“I have my own clothes, Nami! What is it with you and trying to get me into your clothes?”
“Funny, she always tries to get me out of them…” Vivi muses and you laugh out loud.
“Honey, don't take this the wrong way. You're beautiful, but your clothes are a bit… plain… don't you want to dress to impress?” She winks.
“Not really, no.”
“Too bad. This dress is perfect. Vivi and Robin already agreed and I won't take no for an answer. Ace will be blown away!”
You sigh and let Nami dress you up as if you were a barbie doll. There’s no use in fighting her, really. And you hate to admit it, but she does own some sexy clothes. And you do want to blow Ace away.
Though you’re having a hard time admitting it.
-*-
As you cross the tiny pathway to Mr. Garp’s house - turns out ‘at Luffy’s’ means there because Luffy’s flat is too small to fit his many, many friends - your heart starts to beat faster. You know Ace will be there. And you know there will be girls all over him. But you should also know that you can't be jealous, because you're nothing but a friend to him.
And that's all you'll ever be.
Still, you feel as if an army of tiny ants are crawling on your insides because everything is moving and squirming in there and you are actually quite nervous to meet him. You guys had a wonderful chat yesterday, but you also knew he had been with another girl before speaking with you.
And Nami has already told you: Ace is a chaser. He likes the difficulty in seducing women - not that it's difficult for him, you bet. You need to keep repeating in your head: you don't want to be just another girl!
Are you obsessing?
Shaking your head, you try to steady your heels on the uneven path. Why did you listen to Nami? You tried to put on sneakers, but after she dressed you in the most shockingly slinky, short red dress with a draped cowl neckline and thin gold chain straps, she almost had a heart attack when she saw your feet.
She screamed sacrilege and almost hit you in the head with the gold heels. You kept repeating that it was too much, but none of the girls listened to you. To be fair all of them look equally stunning and sexy, so you don't really feel that out of place.
Still, it's hard to walk in these things and you're pretty sure you’ll be taking them off at one point or another as the party progresses.
As you pass the threshold of the front door, you get immediately overwhelmed by the sheer number of people. It smells like sweat, pot and booze, and the mixture makes you wrinkle your nose.
“Who are all these people?” You ask Nami, screaming over the loud music.
“Luffy has many friends!” She answers with a laugh.
Right. He has many friends but they're definitely from out of town because you're pretty sure that he has more people inside this house than the entire population of your hometown.
Robin wanders away saying she saw Sabo and she wants to say hi. Nami winks suspiciously at her and the raven-haired girl blushes and giggles. Then, Nami does a little crowd check and smiles.
“Oh, I see my friend Lola. Will you be alright by yourself or do you wanna come?” She asks with concern and you nod vigorously. You are already seeing some familiar faces, and you won't mind mingling for a while. She smiles and saunters over with her girlfriend, also ready to mingle.
Sighing, you set out to find a drink, first. You're in the right mood to get wasted after thinking about Ace sucking face with half of the pretty girls at this party! And free booze is just the right way to do it. Sanji is there and you take the cocktail he effortlessly makes for you with a big smile but you don't get to chat much as his drinks are in high demand and he excuses himself to go cater to another beautiful lady.
You chuckle at his ways and take a sip of the drink he made for you. Perfect.
You hear your name being shouted and turn around with wide eyes. It's Luffy. You hug him and he hugs back, introduces you to some of his many friends and both of you speak as if you never stopped talking at all.
“I'm so glad you're back in town again! Ace can't stop talking about you!” He grins and you blush.
“Right. I bet.”
But, even though you wouldn't mind knowing what Ace has to say about you, Luffy is also in high demand and gets summoned by a man with a long nose and curly black hair, who's smiling at him. Excusing himself, Luffy promises to find you again and you promise to hold him to that.
You take another look around the room, trying to find old friends amidst the sea of new faces, but your eyes are immediately drawn to him. In all his shirtless glory, obviously. And, even more obvious is the way there's a brunette sticking to his side. An arm draped around his waist and dreamy eyes on her face.
It figures. The party has just started and already Ace has chosen his catch of the day. Or maybe it's the catch from yesterday?
It irks you so much! Why does he have to be such a player? No, screw that! He can be a player all he wants, he just needs to stop giving you attention and making you feel special! He needs to back off! So you can move on! Geez, you look like a teenager with her first serious crush.
Chugging the cocktail in one go, you cringe at the aftertaste and quickly ask Sanji to make you another one. You've made up your mind. You just need to avoid Ace all night. If he doesn't speak with you, there's no chance for him to enchant you with his deceiving words. There. You're a genius.
With this happy resolution in mind and a new tasty cocktail in hand, you decide to leave this room. First step to avoiding Ace, don't be where he is.
Swaying your hips to the beat of the song, you make your way to the backyard so you can breathe some fresh air and though there are many people outside, the open makes everything better and you inhale deeply.
“Heeey beautiful.” A slurred voice echoes near your ear as a grimy hand moves your hair away from your shoulder, from behind. “Is that dress on sale? Because it's 100% off at my place!”
You cringe as you turn and slap the hand away from you. “First of all: eughhh! Secondly, don't touch me, creep.” The man looming near you smirks and licks his lips as his eyes rake your body from head to toe, drinking you in, and he further invades your space.
“Come on,” he snorts and you realise he's clearly inebriated or high, or maybe both. “Dressing like that, what were you expecting?” He reaches and tries to touch you, but a large hand, coming from a presence behind you, wraps around his wrist and stops him.
“Respect, obviously.” A low voice rumbles over your head as you turn your head around and meet the cold gaze of Ace, boring his dark eyes straight into the boy in front of you. Because in the face of Ace, he's nothing but a scared little boy. He steps in front of you and smirks. “Now apologise and beat it, before I kick you out of my house.” You're impressed with how he managed to speak such menacing words with a smile and still sound threatening.
The boy mutters a hastened apology and escapes, tail between his legs.
You face Ace with a frown still upon your lips. So much for avoiding him. Your plan failed and you're not a genius. You're actually an idiot. “Why do you insist on being my knight in shining armour? Especially since you're never wearing anything other than shorts!” You reply deadpan as you point at his naked torso.
He's checking you out. His eyes linger suggestively on your exposed legs - Nami, once again, knew who she was dealing with when dressing you - and a cheeky smirk curves his cheeks upwards and makes his freckles dance just for you. “I know you like seeing my muscles.” He flexes and guffaws as you roll your eyes.
“Yeah, me and all these young, impressionable college girls. Smooth, Ace.” You muffle a snort by taking another sip of the amazing cocktail and close your eyes in bliss. “Thank you, but I know how to defend myself from creeps. You can go now. I see a lot of lonely girls ogling you. I'm sure you have better things to do.” You mention suggestively.
It still stings to know Ace is a player. And that you almost fell for his act. Because how can you not fall for the hot, freckled, funny and helpful fireman who compliments you and pays attention to you? Until you realise you're just another one. And you're not special nor ever were. Not to him, not to anyone. You're just… just…
You.
Sighing, you finish your drink in one gulp and turn inside to get another. Maybe this time you'll bring a bottle with you.
“Woah, easy there, tiger. Don't chug your drinks like that. They taste sweet but they pack a mean punch! Sanji doesn't go light on the alcohol unless you specifically tell him to.”
You eye his drink and, honestly, don't even care what's in it. Locking eyes with him and burning him with your gaze, you snatch the red cup from his hand, ignoring his protests and warning words. “Well, boo-freaking-hoo!” With a mock toast gesture, you chug the whole thing in one gulp.
And regret it immediately.
You cough and wheeze, eyes brimming with tears as you try to breathe through your nose to calm the burn in your throat. Ace just stares at you and crosses his arms over his bare chest. The drink was nasty! It was like pure alcohol.
“What the hell?” You sputter.
“I told you, you couldn't handle it.”
“Shove off, Ace!” You drawl as you turn back inside in search of a bottle. God, this man infuriates you. He doesn't follow you inside and you don't care for the empty feeling that leaves in your stomach. You'll soon fill up that spot with some booze.
Securing a bottle, you make your way back outside, expertly avoiding the place where Ace was, and start mingling with some old school friends. Time flies in an instant. Either that, or the vodka you snatched is really good, because suddenly everything seems to be spinning around you.
You make up an excuse and try to find your way back inside, ready to find Nami and tell her this was a terrible idea and you are going to go home. But, instead, you take another chug of the bottle and wince. The numbness of the alcohol is quite refreshing, maybe a bit more won't hurt.
But your steps are uneven and you keep bumping into people and apologising. Someone grabs you and pulls you into a dance and you can't quite tell if you know the person or not. It looks like he has spiky green hair and a loop for a nose ring. His teeth seem really sharp but that might be just the alcohol talking. He starts to get handsy because you're losing your balance, but soon, his hands go from your waist to your hips and try to get lower.
Your brain clicks and you shove the man away but you are even dizzier from the dance and ready to fall or pass out until a strong pair of hands grabs your waist and sets you over his shoulder unceremoniously.
Before you protest, you realise it's Ace just by the smell of him. That darn smokey wood and fresh pine! A freaking punch in the gut just as you were having fun. “Let go!” You slur into his back as you start to kick your feet in the air.
“Stop it! Your dress is riding up! This thing is freaking short.” He hisses.
“I don't care! Let go of me, Ace, I mean it!” You keep kicking and sure enough, your dress is almost exposing your butt, so you feel him pull the fabric down and settle his warm, big hand over the gap of your thighs and your butt so it doesn't ride up again.
That action stops your squirming immediately.
You start to take notice of your position: breasts are squished against his back and bare legs feeling all of the heat emanating from his chest. And his smell… God, his intoxicating smell is making your head spin. Or perhaps that’s from all the alcohol.
Why is he with you? Shouldn't he be sucking face with some bimbo?
You realise you still have the bottle in your hand, so you take another sip as Ace carries you up the stairs. You've been upstairs at Luffy’s house before. In his room, never in Ace's. Because that's definitely where he's taking you. So in with another sip.
“Stop drinking!” He hisses again and sets you down at the top of the stairs. You stumble and hit your back against the wall with a low whine. At least you're steady now.
Grinning, you raise the bottle, your eyes never leaving his harsh stare. “Make me.” You taunt and take another sip. Ace grunts as his hands tousle his dark hair.
“You're infuriating.”
“Hmm, hmm.” You chuckle. “As I thought. You're all bark and no bite.” You take a step to the side to descend the steps, aiming to get another bottle, or to find Nami, or leave. Whatever. Anything to get away from Ace's intoxicating presence.
But the stairs move! Or the floor does. You're not certain. What you do know is that you're about to fall.
But, obviously, you don't get to fall, because your knight is right there for you, holding your waist and pulling your body against his. Ace’s head nuzzles against the crook of your neck while his arm circles your waist, protectively. You feel pressure on your hips just as he digs his digits firmly against your flesh, his hip fixation driving you crazy once more as your toes curl.
A gasp leaves your parted lips as he inhales your scent and then you moan softly as he exhales hot breath against your neck, trailing goosebumps with his lips and grunting near your ear.
He lets go abruptly and wraps a hand around your wrist, tugging and pulling you towards his bedroom. Is this going to happen? Are you going to fall into his trap?
Because you're drunk?
Opening the door he throws you onto his bed with a growl and turns. You hear him breathing heavily but you can't do anything as everything is spinning around you and, even if you wanted to, you couldn't quite get up yet.
After a moment you hear his feet shuffle as he turns back to you. “Sleep.” He approaches and snatches the bottle from your hand. “And enough of this.”
He turns to leave the room but you grab his wrist. Were you going for the bottle? Or was it really his wrist you meant to grab?
“Stay.” You whisper against your will.
You can almost hear his internal battle raging outside. You're drunk, and you know he doesn't want to take advantage. But you do.
Do you?
His jaw clenches and he sits by the foot of the bed, away from you, his face turned as he's assaulted by a grim look.
You can't think too much about this or it will never happen. You're drunk. So you should just go with it. You're sure it'll feel good. It will help you process whatever it is you think you feel for him and then, finally, forget him. What did Nami say?
Ride that cowboy, scratch that itch.
Damn, riding him does sound good. Who cares about the dumb bimbos he has downstairs waiting for him? Who cares if he'll just find another girl to chase after you?
Sex sounds pretty damn appealing now.
“So how does this work, exactly?” You start, getting on your knees and approaching his body, one hand caressing his naked shoulders and now he can't help but stare back at you. “You seduce the girl, or barely do anything because you have all that!” You point at his body with a snort. “And then after you've fucked her, you move on? It's like she never existed, nothing happened, just another notch under your belt?”
You ask while he keeps staring at you. You can't read anything in his dark eyes. His freckles seem lifeless, his smirk is gone and he doesn't seem amused at all.
“Because if that's how it works, maybe we should have a go at it. You just fuck me and we both move on. Because I can't take this anymore, Ace.” Your voice is barely a whisper. You move closer and straddle his lap. Your dress rides up and you buckle your hips against him, feeling his hardness against your achy, needy core as he muffles a grunt against his pressed lips. His hands twitch as if he wants to grab you but they remain planted firmly against the bed. His eyes never leave yours, yet he remains silent. “I can't be this hung up on you anymore, Ace. So just get this over and done with, will you? So we can both move on.”
Tilting your head to the side and digging your nails into his scalp, you lean in for the kiss, ready to take his lips, his tongue, his hands and his dick. And then his rejection, his aloofness and the hurt of seeing him with someone else.
That is the whole Ace package.
But maybe that's what it takes to stop obsessing over him.
Except you don't take anything because he stops you. Two strong hands on your shoulders push you back as his gaze falls down, facing your bodies where they are close. Would be connected, even, if not for the clothing between you. Ace is breathing heavily and you can feel the tension oozing out of him in hot waves.
“Stop.” He says your name firmly. And you know a ‘no’ when you hear one. Even though this one hurts like hell.
Nodding, it takes you a few turns to swallow the hard lump that formed in your throat. As you get off his lap and fix your dress, you notice that the world is spinning once again and this time it's almost unbearable.
“It's not that I don't want you. Trust me.” He groans. “It's just… you're not even going to remember this conversation tomorrow, let alone be of sane mind to consent to sex.” He snorts and shakes his head. “When-... if we do this, I want you to remember all of it.”
You roll your eyes at him and scoff loudly. “I would rather forget.” You mumble and lie back, curling to the side and closing yourself off. As if you would like to remember the time when Ace used you and dumped you - if it happened. Forgetting is much easier than getting all of his attention.
He sighs and gets up. Then he takes off your shoes and tells you to close your eyes and sleep. You close them, with a heavy heart and a heavier conscience. You do hope you don't remember this tomorrow. The way you threw yourself at him and the way he swiftly rejected you.
Which one is worse, really?
Covering your body with a blanket, he puts the trash can near the bed in case you need it later - you’ll probably need it. There’s a heaviness on top of your eyes, the beginnings of a throbbing headache, and a moment passes but Ace doesn't leave. His presence still fills the room, still fills you and makes your heart ache. But you don't open your eyes to acknowledge him - or your pain - and your breath starts to even out.
You hear him sigh and sense him leaning above you, his head hovering near yours. “You would never be just another notch under my belt…” He murmurs and kisses your forehead gently before leaving you alone in his room.
-*-
You’re woken up either by the bright sun shining directly on your eyelids, or by the throbbing headache in your temples, you’re not quite sure.
Either way, your body says that it’s too early for this, and it’s too freaking hot. When it gets this hot, you usually lean against the wall on the side of your bed to absorb the coolness from the bricks. So you turn to the side and scoot over to mould yourself against the cool wall.
Except there’s no wall.
And there’s no more bed.
So you fall with a soft yelp, dragging the blanket - which is rolled around your torso, arms and face, for some reason - and fall onto the hard floor.
Wait.
You fall, alright, but not onto the hard floor. It’s firm. And it’s a body. It’s grunting.
Huffing, you try to stand up but the blanket makes the job difficult and the room is still spinning from all the alcohol you ingested yesterday, so you sit, on top of the body, stradling the man below you, and trying - in vain! - to either get up or to get rid of the blanket, all the while muffling apologies for the minor ‘inconvenience’.
In the middle of your desperate plight to escape your situation, you hear another low grunt and feel two strong hands grab your hips and pin you against his body, making it impossible to move.
“Stop. Squirming. Please.”
It’s Ace. You stop immediately, your free hand grasping at the surface in front of you - his abs. Feeling your face burn up at the touch you realise the reality of your situation: You’re both on the floor, with you straddling him and fondling his perfect six-pack - maybe stop touching him! - and he’s very hard between your legs.
“I-I’m sorry. It’s… the blanket…” You start, your face hidden by the thrice-damned blanket. Ace grunts again and you wince at the loss of contact when he removes one of his hands and rips the blanket off you with one swift motion.
The pull disrupts your balance, and you dig your nails into his stomach - that’s sure to leave a mark - and tighten your legs around him to try and steady yourself. You know he doesn’t mean to, but Ace bucks his hips up with your squirming and you barely bite back a whine at the friction that creates in your core.
“Fuck.” He mutters with a desperate exhale, lifting his torso up and facing you.
This is dangerous territory. And now you’re free, so you should get up. Why don’t you?
Ace’s fingers grip your hips tighter. When did his hand return to your hip? You didn’t notice it, it’s like it belongs there. And why are you now grabbing his shoulders? His eyes are all pupil and he doesn’t blink while he drinks you in. You know you must be a mess. Hair all over the place, smudged makeup, dress straps off your shoulders… yet the look he’s giving you makes you feel like you’re the only girl that matters in the world.
“Don’t do that…” You whisper. You want him to stop looking at you like that, to stop making you feel special and wanted, because you can’t take another heartbreak, and there’s no way that something you start with Ace won’t end in heartbreak. So you need to nip this in the bud even before it blooms.
“Right.” His voice is hoarse and ragged as his hold tightens around your waist, lifting you with ease and setting you aside, removing himself from the situation. He grabs a discarded shirt from the back of his chair and leaves the room cursing and tousling his hair.
You only meant for him to stop looking at you like that. You didn’t want him to leave completely. Right? Because now there’s a sudden emptiness inside and around you and you’re not quite sure how to be complete again.
Sighing, you massage your temples with both hands. The tension between the two of you is becoming unbearable. Should he just fuck you and get it over with so you could each go your own way?
Why does this line of thought feel so familiar?
Lowering your head, you inhale and almost gag at the smell of your dress. At some point yesterday you must’ve spilled an entire drink on yourself, because it smells like the back alley of the town's dingiest tavern.
You test your stability by slowly lifting yourself with the help of the bed, and it works. Then you look around and, sure enough, there’s a half-crumpled t-shirt lying on the chair, the same place he took the other one from. Grabbing it, you take a tentative sniff. It doesn’t smell bad. If anything, it smells like him.
It smells amazing.
Even though Ace closed the door when he left, you turn your back and quickly discard your dress. You curse when you realise you’re not wearing a bra because the dress didn’t allow for one, but you still pull the shirt over you. It falls to your thighs, almost at the same height as the dress.
“Hmm, hmm.” Ace’s grunt startles you and you turn swiftly to the door. Did he see you change? “Here.” He extends a glass of water and two pills. His eyes are locked on the ceiling and there’s a slight blush on his cheeks. He saw you.
You choose not to acknowledge the fact.
“Thanks.” You take the pills and almost inhale the glass of water because you’re so thirsty. Then you sigh in satisfaction and set the glass on his desk. “I took your shirt, I thought you wouldn’t mind… seeing as you barely wear them.”
That elicited a very small chuckle from him, but the curl of his lips didn’t even reach his freckles.
“Do you remember anything from last night?” He asks, scratching the back of his neck.
“No. Not much. I think I remember you bringing me here, but then, nothing. I must’ve blacked out immediately, right?” You chuckle and miss the pained grimace on his face.
“Yeah, that was it.”
“Sorry for taking your bed and making you sleep on the floor.” He shrugs. “Sorry for falling on top of you… I thought I was in my room, you see, there’s usually a wall there and-...” You stop your wild gestures and chuckle.
Why does this feel weird all of a sudden?
“I guess I should get going. Shanks might be worried.” You know your father will never say anything about you spending the night away or drinking, you’re no longer a kid, but he will still worry.
“I texted him last night to tell him you were alright and spending the night.”
You flush as your eyes meet his. “You told him just like that?” He nods and you groan. “Great, he’s going to think we have something.”
“Who would want that, right?” He sounds sarcastic.
“What’s your problem?”
“I don’t have a problem!” He grunts again and you somehow pick up on the fact that he’s angry at you, or frustrated at least.
“Clearly you do!” Taking a step forward, you try to approach him with your hand extended, but he turns his face away from you with a ‘tsk’ and steps back. For some reason your heart sinks and you feel cold.
“Got it. I’m the problem. I’ll get out of here, no worries.” Maybe he wanted to spend the night with some girl and you being in his bed got in the way of that? That had to be it. Why else would he be so upset?
Grabbing your shoes from the floor and your crumpled, smelly dress, you make your way to the door, brows knitted together and lips pursed.
“I’m so sorry for getting in the way of your lay. Maybe you should’ve just dumped me in Luffy’s old room instead of your own. Then you would’ve been able to fuck whomever you wanted.”
You stomp past him and you don’t know why you have tears stinging in the back of your eyes. Might be because of the hangover? It has to be.
“So sorry for the inconvenience.” You shout before running down the hall, down the stairs and to your home.

Slenderman x Short!Reader || Drabble
Tumblr media
Plot: You risk life and limb to stick silly little glow-in-the-dark stars to your ceiling. Slender saves you.
This can absolutely be considered a part of the world in this Slender x Reader fic: Slenderman x SlenderMansionMaid!Reader || Oneshot.
Warnings: Slender and Y/N are very cranky towards eachother XD Its also unedited for now.
Tagging: @microwavemadness , @miss_understood , and @yesthetrashbin .
Your sock-clad feet feel slippery on your smooth bedframe but you balance very carefully, holding your arms out and slowly lowering them to your sides. In one hand is a sheet of glow-in-the-dark green star stickers; the reason you're up in this precarious position, perched atop the 3 inch frame at the end of your bed. Its the only way that you can reach the damn ceiling!! You're too short for a mere step stool to make much of a difference and you cant find a ladder.
Taking a deep breath, you loo at the stickers. Ever-so-slowly, you start peeling stickers off the shiny paper and sticking them on the ceiling in pretty configurations that you think resemble constellations- your own constellations. Your own galaxy.
Every creak that your bedframe gives makes you nervous every moment that you're up there, but you're invested. You wanna turn the lights off later, windows cracked open making your cheeks cold from the nighttime air and feel like you're free outside but safe in your comfy bed.
As you cautiously, deliberately scatter star stickers across your personal night sky, you find yourself thinking how Slender's gonna react to it, and give a grin. Surely he thinks glow in the dark star stickers are stupid and frivolous; just go outside. Look at the real thing. Are you allergic to nature??
"Sometimes, I do wonder."
As soon as Slender's deep staticky voice fills your head up like water so suddenly you give a jolt in shock, eyes wide as your head snaps around to the door. You see a flash of him, just a flash, before your body nearly topples over. You would've crashed right to the floor and broken something (Or knocked your head on something and died), but you land in a pair of long, cold arms; close to a cold firm chest. Heart beating uncomfortably fast, you look up towards Slender's 'face' with wide eyes and a wordless gaping mouth. "... "
"Well? Your mouth's open; say something."
The bluntness in his tone sparks a little frustration in you, your eyebrows furrowing and snapping. "Don't sneak up on a person when they're balanced high-up like that!!"
Slender gives a sigh, lowering your feet gently to the floor and allowing you to slip away from him on your own. "You knew I was here in the mansion- this is my house. You should've been more aware."
"I didn't think you were going to appear randomly!!"
"Well, your lack of forethought is not my fault." At this rude comment, you open your mouth to curse at him- but he's moved on; looking up at the ceiling so close to the top of his head. The ceilings in this mansion are much higher then the typical home but the top of his head is still only a foot away from it. "What on earth are you doing to my property??"
"I'm- well- " For a moment you're going to explain to him- but then you decide not to. Petulantly, you put your hands on your hips and set your face into a look of sternness. "What does it look like??"
"A child's terrible artwork." He wonders deeper into your room, looking at the stars. "... on my ceiling."
"Well then that must be what it is. The door's back over here- "
"Are these the tacky glow-in-the-dark kind?" Slender's fingers glide over a couple of your stars, and you sigh; crossing your arms close over your chest.
"... yes. I like them; I think they're pretty. Problem??"
"I thought my calling them 'tacky' pre-explained that part, actually." He turns to look your way, and you feel his gaze on you in a way that almost feels like a smirk. Oh, this abominable, insufferable, smug ass- "I can hear your thoughts Y/N."
"Oh I know. Its a fringe benefit."
"Bringing you here was a completely failed experiment; I don't know w h a t I was thinking... " He sighs airily, looking back to the stars. And there was a time when his words would've stung, but he says hurtful things like that all the time. Its just how he communicates, the cantankerous old bastard. And you're perfectly aware that he's an asshole, so you don't put much value in his words, anyway. "Hand me those stickers."
That makes you pause. "... why?" You ask, tilting your head and holding your stickers against your chest. You don't want him to confiscate them! He can order you to do anything he wants, technically, but you really don't want to give up your star stickers!! You wont back down without a fight!-
"I'm going to place them on the ceiling for you." He holds out his hand, one totally white palm and long stem-like fingers. "Hand them over."
Huffing, you approach him and plop them into his hand. You believe him. Slender doesn't lie; he doesn't have to. Not even to be nice. "-Okay, but I'm gonna tell you where to put them. I need more over- "
"Over there by the bookcase, I know. And no, you will not be. I am not your slave- you're mine as a matter of fact, in case your tiny human brain managed to forget."
"Uhuh." You sure look obedient... you think, smirking at him using a finger to gently rub stickers exactly where you wanted them- seemingly, without even knowing for sure you wanted them right there. He just has taste, you guess.
"You know I could just leave you. And we have a ladder, by the way, but I wont tell you where it is."
"You're an ass."
"Oh, where have I heard that before... " Slender sounds very much like he's rolling nonexistent eyes full sarcasm- you don't know how he does it!
~
By the time night falls, your entire ceiling is covered in intricate constellations made out of plastic, paint and glue and when you look up in the dark its exactly what you wanted. Beautiful glowing stars all across your bedroom ceiling, like alien sprinkles. You let out a happy sigh, all the stress from your day dissipating along with your breath into the open air.
Slender's next to you, an he ruins the moment; naturally. "... ah, yes. Looks just as dumb as I thought."
For once you don't snap back at him; you turn and give the crotchety eldritch monster a tight smile; the best you can muster for him. "Thank you for helping, that was really uncharacteristically nice of you, Slender. I love it."
Gently, without moving at all, Slender says- "... well that was the point, wasn't it."
-and the smile slips right off your face. You're glad its dark, and he probably (hopefully- ) cant see it.
Neither of you say anything else. Not tonight.

Post under the cut for spoilers for Veilguard.
The greenhouse stood still, as if it knew its occupant was gone. The open windows often let in a gush of something reminiscent of air that caused the flowers and plants to sway. It had helped Harding to not lose her nerves every single night. Not only was she dreaming, she had been nervous about suddenly losing her footing and plunging into the greater Fade in her sleep.
Elyon had insisted on sleeping right next to her on the floor for the first few nights. They had stared at each other and laughed over how ridiculous the situation was. Elyon enjoyed the feeling of hard floor against his back. It reminded him of the distant outpost in the Anderfells, his first real assignment as a Warden. Every Warden's nightmare was to be posted as a token force in a distant fort with nothing but sandstorms and crumpling rock everywhere.
Elyon had taken to carving rocks on his free time. An older Warden had taught him that. "Don't let your hands grow idle", he had said. "It'll do your head in."
So he didn't. During his first week, he must have carved every single protective rune and symbol he could find in the few books and materials the fort had received from the Chantry. Some must have been just accidental chiselling by an overly excited apprentice when the fort was first built. But they were now memorialised in the little stones Elyon left lying around.
He never let it go. So he continued to carve them, and one night next to Lace's bedroll, he turned to her. "So, do you feel when I carve into the stone?" "No? You know we walk on rocks every single day?" "Can't fault me for asking. Can you tell what kind of rock this is, anyway?" "You have truly hit rock bottom, Eli, with these questions." "What, you don't want to chalk about it?" "Get out of my room, now!" "Fine, fine. I'm sure today has been very…sedimental for you. Good night, Lace."
"She was my first friend, Emmrich. Someone who had a choice, and chose to... be there with me." "She cared for you, deeply. And we will honour her sacrifice." "Sacrifice. She just - she didn't have to. I could've - I should've -" "And we might be missing you as well as Harding." Elyon's knuckles were white in their tight fist. His lips were pressed thin.
If he had any expectations for how Elyon would take Harding's death, a quiet "I miss her so much, Emmrich" was not what Emmrich had expected to hear. He had expected Elyon to destroy the entire greenhouse in a fit of anger and end up punching the wall until his fists bled. Elyon quickly wiped his eyes and shook his head, as if trying to shake off the weight that was looming on his shoulder. The weight, the pressure, the blanket of loss and fear of things to come was not as easily effaceable with a finger as a note written in pencil was.
But Emmrich still tried. Elyon caught his wrist just as his thumb touched the wet skin on his cheek. They both kept still, their eyes locked into each others'. Emmrich's wrist in Elyon's hand, the grasp firm but hesitant. It begged, please don't come closer. If I unravel more, I won't be able to put myself back together again.

Sigh... Again...
Seriously? Again with your bullshit, Angel...? I never thought I'd make another post about this, but here we are, I guess.
Here we go again... 😒
This time, it's worse than before, so buckle up, folks.
I made a post one time calling Angel out for lashing out at Rainbow over something little. Need a refresher? Here's the link, it's still up: https://www.tumblr.com/shadowwolfmemes/770497528037851136/im-so-done?source=share
Guess what, Angel.
I have every right to block you AND call you out as much as you had every right to block @rainbow-starheart that time! BOO-FUCKING-HOO!
I know that post is old news now, but this is just to make a point. Besides, you wanna know what's more ableist than calling people retards? Fake claiming a disorder I actually have. My mother has the documents to prove my autism, so nobody should say otherwise.
I thought that'll be the end of it, but nope. I was clearly wrong because out of nowhere, this shit popped up as the 8iid situation was still popping off (still is). https://www.tumblr.com/starcrezt/777038055038222336/dude-you-own-me-a-lot-you-fucking-iar-you-send?source=share
I was surprised because not only did she block @starcrezt for something they didn't do, they also dragged my name like I was the sole reason her life was tearing apart. The fuck are you pissed at me for?! And for some reason, she insulted me for liking Skibidi Toilet for some reason. [Tf did Skibidi Toilet do to you, Angel? Did it also ruin your life or something? 😭]
Angel, I'm not the reason why you're considered toxic. I called you toxic because you acted that way. And now, you have the audacity to say I attacked you first? FOR BEING CONCERNED AND GIVING ADVICE?!
I said it once and I'll say it again,
I will not sit there like a log and let someone spit, slap, and even punch me in the face for being concerned by your action. I don't care if it's from a close friend of mine, that shit wasn't and will never be cool!
Words can be hurtful because they have certain power.
I even talked to Starcrezt's auntie about it in the DM's and she said that Angel is still a child with lots to learn. For one, I actually agree and that BPD makes it hard for someone to function normally. I realized that in my first callout post, I was being a little unfair by throwing her condition to the side of the curb. I will admit that I should've worded my post a bit better.
I'm not gonna pretend I'm the purest of saints because I've done and said some shit, too. However, I won't let Angel disrespect and disown Star for something they weren't even guilty of! (@starcrezt, I know you forgive her, but I won't. Sorry for randomly tagging you into this btw.)
No amount of apologies will make up for the damage that's already been inflicted.
One more thing....
Proshippers, don't act like you're innocent. You constantly harassed, sent death threats, and purposely triggered Angel's BPD. You cry about your DNI's being broken and being harassed by antis, but you proudly made a depressed 14 year old's life even more miserable.
I no longer like Angel as much as you do, but you're not any better than her! In fact, y'all are WAY WORSE because you actively ganged up on her and her friend! If Angel is so much of a bother to you, the least you could've done was, I dunno, BLOCKED?!
Anyways, I'm done here. Feel free to ignore this post if you're uncomfortable with it...
Hopefully, this will be the last public rant post I'll make of my ex-mutual.... Maybe. I'm not good at keeping certain promises, but I can try...
If you want to talk to me about this, I prefer if you did it in the DM's or something.

Fleeting Memories Act 2 When She First Came

Disclaimer/Warnings: This story WILL contain the following topics of death, blood, gore, wounds, cannibalism, illness, and other things usually found in Demon Slayer. I'll be solely basing this story on the anime only.)

Two graves sat upon the ground.
The lonely stones sat there upon the soft soil silently with nothing but the joyous birds chirping to help ease the mournful serenity. A soft breeze kissed the small flowers planted with care around the graves and seemed to wave out in cheerful dances, their pink petals soft and vibrant and their aroma soothing to ones who smell them. A few small petals broke free into the wind, dancing upon the breeze and bouncing along the ground until they brushed against soft skin. Running along small feet before continuing on their way.
Turquoise eyes stared at the ground before him silently. The markers of two graves were kept silent company to him as the breeze moved strands of hair side to side in sways. Nothing but the birds singing and wind rustling through the trees to disturb the silence.
"Muichiro."
Turquoise eyes blinked. His head turned to someone who looked so much like himself. As if he was looking at his reflection within the nearby stream. This doppelganger stares also at the graves, silent anger displayed on his face before without a word he turned and began walking away from the graves, his foot falls sounding out as he did so.
"There's work to be done. Don't stand there like a useless rock and make yourself useful."
Turquoise eyes blinked after his twin before again turning to look down sadly at the graves who remained silent. "I'm sorry. I'll come visit you again. Alright?"
The stones said nothing as he bowed quickly before going to run off after his brother leaving the silent company behind.
The seasons have a way of changing when one blinks their eyes in the same manner days seemed to merge together or nights feel like they pass within a few seconds. The once hot summer days ran away to allow her brother Autumn to come give his chilly dances and bring his pants and brushes to start coating the trees in vibrant colors. Beautiful browns. Sun kissed yellows. Tiger lily oranges. Blood reds. Sometimes even a few plum purples mixed within. Only for them to dry out and fall to the ground in waves, to crunch and break under feet.
CRUNCH. CRUNCH CRUNCH.
Went the leaves as tiny feet walked along the beaten path. Tiny hands gripped tightly onto the straps on his shoulders and pulling on it to help keep him balanced from the heavy weight on his back from carrying the large amount of wood he had cut and was bringing home to be hacked smaller and then be stored away for the upcoming long winter months. His body leaning forward slightly from under the weight on his shoulders but he didn't complain. Just obediently followed his twin whom was walking just a few feet in from of him.
"Thank you for helping me load the wood."
"Don't thank me for something you should've been able to do yourself from the beginning." His tone was dismissive and blunt which made a frown come onto his face.
"Well..I should still thank you for your kindness."
"Kindness does no good for anyone. If you try to help somebody in need you'll only get hurt."
"That's not true. Whatever you do to help others has a way of coming around and helping yourself some day. That's what Father said."
"You're regurgitating the words of a man who got himself killed trying to help someone else."
A wide eyed look overcame his face. "How could you say something so cold? He died trying to save our mother."
"As if a few herbs would've done anything to really heal her at that point. Don't be so stupid."
"Don't say such awful things!", Muichiro practically shouted hurt at him.
"If he hadn't gone out in the middle of a storm maybe we would've only lost our mother that night."
"Please stop saying things like that! That's going too far!"
"I'm only telling you how it is, and stop being so noisy. You'll attract boars. I guess the Mui in Muichiro stands for incompetence." Muichiro stopped just..staring at his brother in shock as he continued to walk his way home. "This conversation is meaningless after all you can't change the past. ..Or maybe the Mui in Muichiro stands for meaningless."
He stopped mouth open to say something back...but he found nothing to say. A defeated look graced his features before turquoise eyes looked to the ground and he followed after obediently.
Autumn dances with his pants and blows his winds of crunchy leaves when no one else has a care in the world. He dances and dances sloshing his paints around until his brother Winter taps him on the shoulder to get his attention. 'Brother, it's time you go follow our sister Summer and allow me the chance to cast the world in my visage' Winter would say to him. Wishing his brother Autumn a merry farewell before he sat down and covered himself with his blankets of snow to put everything to sleep until their sister Spring would come wake him once more. His snore blew out blizzards and his tossing and turning would cause snow to fall down after dislodging from his blankets. Sound asleep deep in slumber he would be until the shy tiptoeing of feet sneaks up to him and shakes him awake until he awakens to the gentle face of their Spring sister. 'I hope your slumber was well Brother, but I must ask you to wake up now for I must take my place here' she would say. So Winter would yawn and gather his blankets of snow, sometimes procrastinating and staying a few more weeks than he should snow falling from the blankets in his arms but eventually she encourages him on his way with a soft smile and a promise to see him again come next time it's her turn to wake him.
The snow melted away and with it went the cold winds and icicles. Flowers peeped out of their buds. Newborn birds sang from their nests. And with it came the start of new beginnings and new opportunities. Whether those opportunities start from good or bad experiences however is out of our control.
The sounds of birds chirping filled the air as the morning sun shown down upon the skies and warning the small house located nestled within the trees. The sounds of soft wood thumps were heard as hands placed newly chopped wood away to be stored and kept out of the rain in case the weather decided to surprise them. Footsteps made their way out of the open doorway as another person stopped in the doorway giving two seconds to debate on whether or not to say anything or just leave without bothering him.
"I'll be back," Muichiro softly called to his brother as he watched Yuichiro put away the wood. Half for their own needs, half to sell down the mountain when they had time to travel. "I'm gonna go fetch some water.
"You still haven't gotten any?," he asked bluntly and annoyed as he just kept stacking the wood.
With eyes turned down and buckets in his hands, Muichiro left his brother to finish stacking his wood before he undoubtedly went back to chop more wood into smaller pieces.
*************
The sounds of birds chirping filled the air as the wind blew rustling the trees and making the leaves dance about. He always loved Spring and Summer more than winter. The warmer weather made it easier to bare working and the beautiful colors was like seeing a rainbow painted over everything after seeing nothing but endless whites in the bleak winters. His foot falls thudding out softly on the soft dirt and grass as he continued walking and admiring the beautiful view.
Hopefully this year just might be a better one than last year had been.
The farther he went the faint noises of running water joined in with the birdsong. The closer and closer he came the louder it got until he saw it through a parting in the trees. The sounds of a sweet babbling brook sung out to him as his eyes gazed at the lovely sights of a small waterfall that fed the small stream that he would often fetch water from. The blue water was clean and fresh and glittered brightly from the sunlight making a pretty sight indeed. With a small sigh he approached the stream and pushed the pole he used to carry the buckets off his shoulder. It made a small sound as he knelt to one knee and fiddled to detach the first bucket to fill with the cool water. He'd have to fill their water basin inside so this would at most take four trips. The wooden bucket was placed within the cool blue water and slowly filled up as the stream pushed past.
He sat there on one knee watching it fill..when someone reached his ears. The sounds of footsteps. Instinctively his head snapped up and at once he felt himself freeze up. Turquoise eyes widening to the size of plates as what they dared to gaze upon a figure within the shade of the trees.
Purple orbs met purple ones as he realized that the mysterious figure he was looking at was a woman.
Her figure stood out of the sunlight within the shade of the trees, but even with that he could see her soft skin seemingly without any blemish, her white hair that was pure as untouched snow, and eyes as purple as wild wisteria blooms. She was beautiful and she just stood there silently observing the boy in silence as much as he himself stared back at her in awe.
"She's beautiful," His mind thought as he continued to stare at the woman, who's hair whom was mostly pulled back in a short ponytail, sways with the warm wind."But..who is she? I've never seen her before. Could she..be a white birch spirit Father told stories about?"
The warm Spring wind continued to carry their silence on the passing wind as the staring continued on for what felt like an eternity but in reality it couldn't have been more than a few minutes. Eventually one of them broke the silence. Her form slowly bowed to him, eyes closing momentarily before the mysterious stranger stood right back up again. Her movement snapped him out of whatever stupor he had been in earlier and finally he took notice of her entire form, not just her face. Nothing the tan colored outfit along with the straw hat and a walking stick she held in her hands.
"Greetings," she spoke voice coming from her side of the stream. Her voice was kind yet there was a aura of knowing behind it he couldn't explain as she stared at him. "I am searching for a family that resides within these mountains. Perhaps you know of them?"
"I-.." When did his throat suddenly go dry? He swallowed thickly before being able to find his voice once more. "I d-don't know of anyone else who lives up the mountain here. There's a village not far from here down the mountain however." A hand pointed back down the way she had he assumed came from. "Perhaps whoever you're looking for is there." He remembers his father used to travel down the mountain with pounds of wood on his back to sell the lumber to the people there.
She didn't respond at first continuing to give him that neutral loom, but he felt as if she was studying him like how Yuichiro would study a log for the weakest point before expertly striking his axe down to get the easiest cuts. Her head tilted just the slightest to the right before she spoke next.
"The family I seek goes by the name of Tokito."
"What?" His brows rose at his family name falling from his lips.
"I was told that the resided here up the mountain. Perhaps you know where I can find them?"
"I..." His brows furrowed as a frown settled on his lips. Why was this woman here asking for his family? "I'm..Tokito. I-I mean my family is-...Who are you?"
"Forgive me." Her head tilted forward to bow at him again quickly. "This must be quite strange for you. Is it possible for me to speak with your family entirely?"
"My family? We-Well I-.." His voice stammered as his head turned to look back over his shoulder towards where his home was but more importantly where Yuichiro was still. Probably still chopping wood while he was gone. "I mean yes you could but-.. I-I don't think-.."
The woman didn't move as she watched the child before her stammer consistently looking between herself and the way he must've came from. Silently she simply started forward and he blinked as the first splash of her foot hitting the water followed by another as she started walking through the small stream towards him. Automatically he stood up, bringing the now full bucket with him as he watched her approach him until she stood just a yard away to his left, his head following every movement and her feet and hem of her dress now soaked in water.
Her beautiful purple eyes looked at him. "What is your name?"
"I-" He blinked not sure what to make of her. "My-My name is Muichiro."
"Muichiro." She spoke out as if trying it on her own tongue before she smiled at the boy. "That's a nice name."
Despite himself he felt his face go red, eyes averting to the full bucket. "I-I better fill up the buckets before I go. M-My brother won't like it if I start slacking off."
"I see. Then I shall accompany you back."
He didn't say anything to her, opting to quickly just go fetch the other bucket and fill it with the cooled water. All the while he felt the stranger just stand there patiently watch as he tied both water buckets to the pole before heaving it over his left shoulder steadying it with a hand before slowly turning around. Finding the stranger still there. They both said nothing before he decided to take a step towards home and see if she would indeed follow him. Muichiro was lightly surprised when he heard the second pair of footsteps following behind him as he made his way home. Instantly a mix of emotions and questions rapidly played through his mind.
Confusion. Caution. Some worry.
Why was she here? Who was she? He'd never seen anyone like her before. Was it possible she was a friend of his parents coming to visit or maybe a distant relative he's never met before coming to pay her respects?? He took another look at her as she only tilted her head to look back to him. She didn't look anything like him or his family so the family connection probably wasn't true. She looked younger than his parents did too so it was unlikely that they knew each other unless his father sold firewood to her once. He's only been to the nearest village a handful of times himself so it's possible she was from there but he'd never seen her. But what could she possibly be here for?
"You know my name-," he slowly started after another few seconds. "-but I don't know yours. What's your name?"
"I will explain everything once I meet with the rest of your family," shd simply answered back.
"Oh. ..Then why are you here?"
"I will explain everything once we all meet," she repeated.
Guess he wasn't getting any answers out of her until they reached Yuichiro. With a sigh he turned back around and continued to walk the rest of the way back in silence other than their footsteps and the sounds of nature. Back the way he came from until a new sound entered the air. The familiar distant sounds of thuds and an axe chopping  through wood. From the distance he spotted his brother still at work in the Spring air. A large axe that wasn't meant for a child his age raised into the air right above an old flat stump used for a chopping block and with a grunt and swing down of his axe, Yuichiro let gravity carry down the weight of the blade with his speed to partially chop in half a large oak log before dislodging it to repeat the process, the log splitting into two halves and falling to the ground on either side. Panting he reached a hand up to wipe his forehead before reaching out to grab one of the large halves, placing it back onto the chopping block and raiding the axe to again redo the process however the axe paused in the air. Turquoise eyes looked up and Yuichiro had stopped once he saw the figures of his twin and the stranger approaching.
They continued towards him the more he stared, the axe slowly being lowered to be held in his hands resting in front of his body. His usual frown still there but his eyes were full of confusion. Muichiro gulped as they approached again looking at the woman who seemed to just silently observe Yuichiro in the same way she did him when they first met. He hoped his brother wouldn't be too rude to her. She seemed very nice so far.
"Muichiro." He was brought out of his train of thought by his brother's voice as his eyes narrowed his at her as they slowly stopped just a few yards away from him. "Who's this?"
"Huh?" He blinked before looking back to the woman. "Oh. I-I don't know. We met at the stream and insisted on talking to us."
"Talking?" His narrowed eyes looked the woman up and down stopped briefly to take in her soaked feet in suspicion. ".... We're not selling wood today." He turned back to the half log again lifting his axe before slamming it back down to chop it two two pieces again. The lady watched as one firewood clattered along the ground as Yuichiro reached out for the other half without looking up. "And we don't do labor work for others. If you want to buy some you'll wait until we take a haul to town like everyone else does."
She regarded the wood silently as Muichiro watched her in curiosity before her head turned to the nearby graves. A swarm of beautiful pink flowers surrounding them and swaying like ocean waves in the wind. Her silence continued on as Yuichiro went on working like she wasn't there at all chopping again and going to get another large log to chop up. Then she did turn back to both brother.
"Your family." Yuichiro stopped in the midst of placing down a log. "Where are they?"
The silence came back much more tense than before as they all just stared at one another. Eventually Muichiro answered after gently glancing to his brother. "It's..just us. We can't help you with whatever you're looking for here unless you want to buy firewood. I'm sorry."
She spoke not a word at first but smiled again. "I see. My condolences to your loss but what I am here for is for something else much greater than mere firewood. May we talk inside?"
Muichiro blinked at her before obviously looking at his brother whom seen far more confused and annoyed than angry. His brows were raised in question as he just stared at this woman. Eventually his hands placed the log in his hands down before he turned back to start walking back to the house.
"Then make this quick and don't waste anymore of our time than you already did since you're insisting," he spoke, "But don't expect us to actually do anything for you. We have our own problems."
Muichiro gave one last glance to the woman before following his brother inside carrying the buckets with him. Going inside the cooler house and bringing the buckets with him. Everyone was silent as they went inside. Yuichiro stood silently arms crossed and frown present as he watched the woman walk inside taking off her shoes at the door respectfully and proceeded to sit on her knees in wait for Muichiro to empty his buckets into the water basin. The silence between the three of them other than the water being poured was awkward and uncomfortable at best. Eventually with the water taken cared for, Yuichiro couldn't stand the silence any longer.
"Alright. Out with it." He pointed to the woman. "What do you want?"
"Yuichiro, you mustn't be rude to our guest."
"She started it by coming in here demanding something from us! So either she tells us what she wants or she can get out!"
The tenseness rose. Muichiro was used to his brother's harsh words by now but for him to direct it at a total stranger who hadn't done anything to warrant such a reaction from him. It made him feel ashamed and guilty immediately and he turned back to offer her a guilty look and an apology.
"I'm sorry. He doesn't mean it honest."
Her hand was calmly held up to them both. "No apologies necessary. He has a right to know why I came here same as you so I should explain myself as a stranger entering your home." Her hands were lowered and a somber serious expression came over her face. "My purpose for coming here is not to impose on you, but I bring a offer for you both."
"An offer?" She nodded and Muichiro subconsciously found himself lowering to sit on his knees to stare at her. "What offer?"
"An offer for joining the Demon Slayer Corporation."
A look of confusion passed over the two brother whom exchanged looks before looking back at her and Yuichiro gave a confused- "Huh?"
"I did not misspoke. This is a serious matter so I will speak bluntly." She held up a hand. "The Demon Slayers are a corporation who's task is to hunt and eliminate all threats of demon kind that plague humankind. That is why I am here by request of the master of the corps. To extend an invitation for the Tokito family to join."
Again the brothers exchanged confused glaces. Yuichiro looked like he was hearing the raving babbles of a lunatic before he turned back to the woman with an annoyed deadpanned face.
"Demons? Really?," he asked sarcastically to which she nodded. "The old fairytale that demons will come eat little children who don't behave and people who are selfish? Are you mad or something?! That's just a story parents tell their children to scare them! There's no such thing as demons just as there's no such thing as ghosts or dragons! They exist only in stories and the imaginations of mad people!"
"I can assure you that they are anything but a myth. You both have been some of the lucky few who's never met one before."
"Even if you are telling the truth, which you're not, why would you ask us to join whatever group you're running?"
"The master has a very good reason for requesting you to join if you'll grant me permission to speak." Yuichiro said nothing back to her but still gave her that suspicious look. She took his silence as permission to talk so proceeded to explain further. "Thank you. As I said the corps has long since been established to wipe demons from the earth in hopes of obtaining peace. The reason why I am here is to request the Tokito family come to aid in our mission to obtain their eradication."
"Why is? We're only lumber people. We've never killed anyone." Muichiro hummed in thought for a moment. "Unless you count trees and fish from the nearby stream."
"It is a very long story to explain especially to those as young as you two but I will try to explain it in a way you both may understand. There is a very special breathing technique and swords that the corps had developed to kill what we call demons. The technique itself is an ancient art that few can master, and were created by some of the first of the slayers today known as First Breathers due to them creating what's known as First Breathing."
Yuichiro scoffed lightly at her finding himself bored of standing up and had found himself sitting down with his head in one of his hands as he listened to her spout her nonsense. "Breathing? So you just huff a lungful of your rancid breath in their faces and that drives them away? Honestly anyone would be driven away with your breath probably."
"Yuichiro!" Muichiro tossed his brother a look over his shoulder at the rude words he spoke.
However she either chose to ignore his rudeness or wasn't affected by it as she continued on without addressing it. "Not very much is known about them other than what knowledge was passed down to us by stories and old records written by others during their time." Her head tilted. "But I can say that at least one of their descendants was able to be traced back by examining records and only recently has it been discovered that one of the bloodlines didn't die out but was in fact still alive." Her hand gestures to them. "That family was the Tokitos."
In an instant Muichiro's eyes widened in awe at the woman who sat before him. "Really? Our ancestors were swordsmen?!" Is that why his father was always so good with an axe?! Because they were descendants of great swordsmen whom used a different brand of blades?! The very thought put in awe feeling a great wave of fascination as she nodded.
"Yes. So you can see why it was very important for me to come here and speak with you personally."
"Who asked you to come here again?" Yuichiro turned his head still wearing his frown.
"The Master of the corps is my husband. He asked me to come here but I can not reveal his name or location unless you are a trusted member of the corps. It was he that asked for me to come here."
"So you want us to do what?" His head tilted more at her. "Wave around talismans and chanting mantras with priests to banish away evil spirits and Yokai?"
"That is not how to kill a demon. Few things kill them. Sunlight is their greatest weakness, the light burns them to dust but the way they're usually killed is by beheading them with a sword."
"A sword?"
She nodded. "That's correct." Oh. That's why she mentioned their ancestors were swordsmen. "Unfortunately it means getting up close and personal to them which is very dangerous I won't lie. Many have been brought to death by a demon's hands-" Yuichiro's body went rigid. Eyes going wide open and for a split second neither noticed glanced at Muichiro whom's back was still facing him as he ate up what she was saying. "-which is why we have certain training for slayers to-"
"Tch...DEATH?!"
Muichiro jumped from the sudden loud tone his brother's voice had risen to, his head whirling around just as Yuichiro abruptly stood up to his feet, a sudden FURIOUS look to his face filled with wrath like this woman had suddenly disgraced their parents' very graves. Brows furrowed over narrowed eyes, hands balled to fists at his sides and teeth gritted tightly until he raised one to point at the silent woman.
"First you come here and waste our time with absolute nonsense, but you have the gull to ask us to uproot our lives for some mad 'Master' we've never even heard of and face death for some stupid superstition?!"
"Yuichiro! Calm down!" Muichiro stood up to face Yuichiro and stand between his brother and the woman. Hands up in an attempt to calm him. "She just came to offer us a chance to join them!"
"SHE OFFERED US DEATH!!"
The reverberation of his rage shot past Muichiro phasing through his body and towards his target, the woman, whom just sat there silently as Yuichiro was practically almost heaving staring at Muichiro with anger in his eyes before they turned to look over his shoulder at the woman who dared to come here. Who dared spout nonsense at him. WHO DARED TO OFFER THEM DEATH ON A SILVER PLATTER AND POLISHING IT UP TO DISGUISE IT AS SOME KIND OF NOBLE PURPOSE!!
"GET!"  His hand pointed to the door. His expression and tone leaving no room to argue."OUT!"
The silence in the air was stale and freezing, like old ice stuck within time. It felt like an eternity which was only a few seconds when some shuffling noises behind him made Muichiro turn his head to see the woman standing to her feet. Her hat and walking stick already in hand. Silently without a word of complaint or protest, she just simply walked to the still open doorway, placed her shoes back on, and put on her straw hat. Turning around to face them she gave each boy a look that lasted a few seconds each before simply bowing, turning around, and then proceeding to just silently walk away. Yuichiro walked over to stare out the doorway at her until she was some distance away before giving a scoff and slamming the door closed loudly enough to surely be heard by her despite the distance with the echo.
"Wait an hour here," he spoke turning around to go off to do something in the house, "Then go fetch more water and fill up the water basin. She'll be long gone by then. We have other things to worry about than the lunacy of some strangers!"
Muichiro said nothing as Yuichiro made his way towards the back garden.
The hours of the day ticked away from the early morning to afternoon as the sun went across the sky. Buckets were carried. Basins were filled. Wood was chopped up and stored away for later usage. Soon sundown came and the night came out to fill the world with darkness once more, which meant it was time for a warm dinner before heading to sleep. Rice and a large radish was brought in from the back garden and Yuichiro found himself taking out an old chopping board and kitchen knife to use only for his brother to approach him with his head still filled with awe and fascination from the exciting events that day.
"Can you believe it?! She said out ancestors were swordsmen!" Yuichiro's hand made chopping sounds as the knife worked through the vegetable, his brother smiling and wide eyed like a toddler who just discovered sugar existed. "Apparently we're descendants of an amazing swordsmen who used something called First Breathing."
He didn't look up continuing to work. "Why should I care? Wash the rice already."
Perhaps it was his excitement for something happening after so long or maybe how happy he felt after nearly a year of sorrow, but Muichiro let his twin's obvious displeasure fly past his head. "Hey! Let's become swordsmen! It's hard to believe that demons exist and are out there hurting people! If we can do something to help we should!" He held out his arms. "Right? So let's become swordsmen and save the people who are suffering!"
Yuichiro said nothing. But his fist trembled. Knife raised high above his head.
"If we do it together-"
CHOP-
The knife struck down, in one swing slicing through the vegetable all the way through to the board. A singular lonesome radish slice wheeled itself from the force off the board only to tumble off the board and hit the floor below, bouncing off the surface and proceeded to roll across the floor until with a sad end it collided with Muichiro's foot and fell defeated onto it's side silently. Turquoise eyes stared at Yuichiro's form in silence.
"What makes you think you can ever save anybody?!"
He felt his chest heave. Rage and panic shocking through his body like electricity of fire. Hunched over the vegetable, first clutched tightly in order to ground himself from spiraling into hysterics.
"You can't cook rice on your own and you're gonna be a swordsman and save others?!" An empty fist raised. "Give me a break, Muichiro!!" The first came down hard jostling everything on the countertop as he snapped his scowl up to a face mirroring his own in silent shock. "You sound like Mother and Father spouting that kind of nonsense! Stop being so optimistic! Your mind is poisoned!" He accused him. "Just like Mother who said she was fine and then worked until she collapsed! Like Father who got killed trying to find some herbs!" His hands hit hands hit the counter. Hand clutching the kitchen knife. Don't spiral. Don't cry. "Even after I tried to stop him! Even when I begged Mother to rest over and OVER!!" Breath. BREATH!! "The only people who can help others are people who are chosen to do so!!"
People who are stronger. People who can actually o things. Things Yuichiro failed to accomplish. Eyes looked at Muichiro. But he can do one thing. And that was to make history not repeat. NO MATTER WHAT COST.
"Our ancestors may have been swords but we are just two hopeless orphans!! People like us are useless! We're only good for one thing and that's dying in the street like dogs!! Our parents met the same fate to prove it! We'll only end up getting used by that woman!! Why do you think she came all the way here?! We're never talking about this again. Got it?! Now hurry up and get dinner ready!!"
The silence was stunned through the home minus the sounds of his heavy breathing as he gripped whatever he could to steady himself and calm down from the anger coursing through his body. Then there was a secondary sound. The sounds of a sniffle and the starts of a cry from Muichiro as he he turned away from his cruel brother with shaky breaths that sent an uneasy feeling throughout his body.
That's alright though. He'll thank him one day for Yuichiro's cruelness and snapping him out of his stupid ideals of grandeur when he was older and more rational. Muichiro was too much like their parents who didn't listen to reason. He couldn't do anything then, but he could sure do something now and ensure history would not repeat with them. So he needed to be cruel as much as it felt like he was burning up inside. It was the only way Muichiro would see reason and grow up to be a rational person like he was.  They say the road to hell is paved by good intentions.
Muichiro could hate him. Could despise him. Could call him cruel as much as he wanted. But if he was alive then that was good enough for Yuichiro.

if i wasn't such an introvert and didn't hate loud noises/crowds i would be a stripper lmao
Tumblr media
STRIPPER: LUFFY x Y/N

Songs: "Starsick" by Maude Latour, "i'm too pretty for this" by Claire Rosinkranz, "Frankenstein" by Claire Rosinkranz
words: 2.4k
Luffy likes dancing.
He's pretty good at it, too.
But he's never seen anyone dance like this before.
Spinning around on a shiny metal pole, dancing with shoes on that clack together when she lands. Someone hands her money, and she reaches down to take the shiny paper bill. She tucks it into the space between her breasts, lacy bra holding other, sweaty bills.
Her face is slack.
She's scanning the crowd, eyebrows slightly furrowed together. She's not really paying attention to your movement, Luffy notices, especially as she absentmindedly spins around with her legs twisted together. Kinda like a pretzel. Luffy likes pretzels.
"Heya!"
He shouts, crowding his way to the front of the bar. He's at the foot of her stage, the little runway that leads out into the audience lit by blue fluorescents. Her skin is sweaty, and her hair is messy. Fly-aways frame her unamused face. Luffy's skin is heating up.
"Hey," she says, slipping down to kneel in front of him. Her hands trace the neckline of her bra, before sliding down to squeeze her own stomach and hips. Luffy wants to reach out and touch, but Sanji already hit him over the head while telling him the rules.
No touching.
And no spending more than two hundred berries. Luffy wants to see what lap dances are all about, since it's something Zoro and Sanji seem to agree on really liking. Would she like that?
Luffy hands her two hundred berries.
"Can I have a lap dance?" He asks, raising his eyebrows as politely as he can. She gestures to the seating around the the side of the dance floor. It's all vinyl and blue lights with shiny poles in the middle.
"Over there?" She asks, lowering herself to her elbows in front of him. Now her face is below him, and her lace-covered ass is in the air. Luffy thinks she's wearing blue, but with all the disco lights it's hard to tell. Sometimes the lingerie looks purple. He tilts his head.
"Do you have private rooms?"
Sanji had mentioned that's what he's gonna do, so Luffy decides that it's probably good enough for him, too. He's never been to a strip club before. Seems okay, so far.
"I can take you to a VIP booth," she says, swinging her legs over the side of the stage. Someone else is spinning around the shiny pole, now. She's wearing stringy underwear and a sports bra. Luffy helps his stripper down off the stage, supporting her arm as she slides delicately to the floor. It's sticky with spilled drinks.
"This way," she says, her voice airy and disinterested. Her lingerie is definitely violet, now. Luffy follows her like a dog would, tagging along at her heels as she leads him to the back room.
"What's your name?" He asks, the scent of jasmine perfume and sweat wafting off of her. He sniffs his own shoulder, wondering what he smells like to her.
"Y/N."
"That's pretty!" Luffy hops along behind her, scooting into the velvet-lined booth as she opens the door for him. It's small, with tufted black seating and another shiny pole in the middle. There's a mirror on one wall. The others are lined in sparkly gold wallpaper.
She starts circling the pole, leaning away from it as she holds it in one hand. Her legs are crossed.
"So," she starts, deadpan, "Since you gave me two hundred already, I can strip and do a buck show for you. Wanna see me naked?" She arches an eyebrow, but her voice doesn't change. Luffy shakes his head.
"Eh, it's okay. Unless you wanna! But I kinda wanted a lap dance?" Luffy is getting a little impatient, watching her spin lazily around the pole with her feet still on the ground. She looks like she's on the swings on a playground--Luffy kinda wants to try. (Next time).
"Lap dances are cool too," she says, striding over to him nonchalantly to kneel between his legs. Luffy stutters a little, not used to having someone so close to his crotch before. She stares at his lap, openly.
"You've paid me a lot, though. So," she shrugs, sliding her hands up his shins to the frayed ends of his denim shorts. Her fingertips play with the fuzzy fabric. Luffy stares at her hands as they move up his legs and over his thighs. She smiles, a small, polite thing, as she says, "I wanted to make sure you felt satisfied, hah."
Luffy shrugs.
"I've never gotten one before! And Sanji says it's really cool, so..." He trails off, fidgety under your slight touches, "I wanna see what all the fuss is about." He pouts a little, unsure if he's made the right choice.
Luffy's not sure what to do.
His hands steady themselves into fists at his hips. The stripper is sparkling a little, he can see in the overhead lights. She's got glitter on her skin, or something--like Nami’s makeup collection.
I'm so sick of all these pretty boys
tryna act like the shit
The stripper slowly slides into Luffy's lap, and his breath hitches in his throat. He's kissed people before, yeah, but...it's never been quite like this. This, so obviously sexual and endearing.
She slowly grinds her hips onto his, as her fingers start to card through his hair. "Pretty," she says, voice slightly scratchy as she speaks. The music is muffled through the speakers; she stands, turning away from him. Her ass is curvy and round, with slight cellulite at the junction where it folds over the backs of her thighs.
And I wish they wouldn't fall in love
then leave me so quick
She swivels her hips, standing a few feet in front of Luffy. His hands clench in and out of fists, as his body starts to react to what he's seeing. She's gorgeous, there's no denying that, although Luffy's more interested in the aura of disinterest and heartbreak that's roiling beneath her skin. He can almost see her energy, crackling at the edges of her silhouette. It's ultraviolet--sorta pastel blue.
He watches the dancer turn around in front of him, as she slowly lowers down, her hand sliding down her own shimmering leg. She straightens, slotting her knee in between Luffy's thighs. He clenches, suddenly extremely aware of her scent. It's jasmine: sweet.
The song swells a bit, as the chorus starts.
I guess I gotta build my Frankenstein
Draw the picture, color all the lines
She smiles, sliding onto Luffy's lap. She stands above him, space left between them for her to slowly sway her hips side to side. She's supporting herself with one hand held onto the headrest of the black velvet lounge. Her chest is in his face, and he tries not to stare too hard at the gap between her breasts and her bra. She smirks.
His face is red; he knows it.
Sanji wasn't exaggerating at all.
"You can touch me," she whispers, dragging her fingers up Luffy's cheek to rest her palm against the side of his face. She sits down now fully on his legs, her supple weight spilling over his body.
Luffy's hands go to her waist, since that seems the safest place for them to settle. She snickers, and leans forward to start mouthing along his jawline. She's searing heat into his skin.
He makes me laugh; never on my nerves
Gets along with my dad
She switches, so now her back is facing him. She still supports herself on the back of the chair, but now she's swaying her hips up and down, snakelike as she slowly thrusts into the air above him.
I've been searching, don't think it's out there
Oh, so loyal, makes me feel spoiled
Then she's sitting down on him, her ass pressed right up against his crotch. She leans forward, hands on her knees, as she shakes it for him. Luffy snickers a little, letting his hands trail over her ass.
He's my daydream, never a nightmare
Every little thing that I want
"Who was he?" Luffy asks, throat scratchy. She stops, stillness overtaking her frame. He scratches at the tops of her thighs.
"Scuse me?"
She asks, vitriol lining every syllable.
Luffy swallows. "The dude who broke your heart?"
Was he not clear enough?
The heartbreak spilling from her soul is suffocating to him; it fills the room like half-purple steam. The song still plays, undercutting the sound of her breaths quickening in her chest.
"Wh-what shit are you tryna pull?" She straightens, spinning around to face him with her hands on her hips. She pops her weight to one side, glaring down at him with ice in her veins. Her energy sizzles, and Luffy guesses that if she had control of her conqueror's haki, then lightning would be striking through the small room.
She has a cute nose.
Luffy shifts, sitting up fully. He swallows, tongue like sandpaper, as he tries to explain himself. "I--sorry, I--," he stutters and stops, then shakes his head. "I didn't mean ta scare ya..."
She raises an eyebrow, a subtle threat underlining her careful expression. Her heartbeat is wild, sending shockwaves through the purple energy pulsing around her. Luffy stands, straightening his shorts. He holds up his hands in surrender.
"Sorry, I--," he starts again, "I see like, um...soul stuff. I guess?" He's not sure how to explain haki to a non-user. (Although he can tell she has observation haki, however subconsciously or not).
"So?"
She stares at him with the eyes of a boa constrictor.
"So...sorry, um. I was just tryna--relate to ya, I guess?" He scratches the back of his head, a rare flush of embarrassment shooting through his cheeks and down his spine. He swallows.
She puffs out a sigh, and goes to lean against the pole.
"My dad," she says, staring at a spot on the floor next to Luffy's feet. She scuffs the sparkly floor with the toe of her stripper heels.
"S'okay," Luffy shrugs, scratching at his own arm, "I won't judge ya."
She sniffs, twisting her lips to one side. "He—left."
"So did mine," he offers, sorta lamely. She smiles, the first twitch of her lips that Luffy's believed all night. He's glad he said hi to her.
"Sorry for asking," he says, thumbing at his nose. He's never felt this...awkward before. She shrugs.
"S'okay," she echoes him, smiling slightly. Her eyes are sparkly, in the lights. She's wearing blue eyeshadow, with silver lines around her lashes. Sometimes Luffy watches Nami do her makeup, standing over her shoulder and making funny faces in the mirror. Luffy stretches his own cheek out, slapping it back against his face in an effort to make his stripper laugh. She stills, eyes wide, before she quirks up a smile.
"Power user?" she asks, grinning. Luffy nods, squeezing his eyes shut in pride like he always does. She snorts, and hooks an elbow around the pole. She spins slowly around it, lifting her feet off the ground.
She sprouts wings.
"Same!" She chirps happily, feathery wings flapping slightly. They're blue and turquoise, with sunshine-colored insides, like a parrot's. "Parrot-parrot fruit," she says, smirking in her own shining pride.
"SO COOL!!!"
Luffy lunges forward, sifting his fingers through the soft feathers. She gasps, but doesn't stop him. She stretches out her wings.
****
She ends up sitting on the black velvet chaise with him, sipping her ginger drink she'd gotten someone to fetch for her from the bar. She's smiling in earnest now, her wings stretched out and proud behind her. She's a lot prettier with wings.
"Okay, okay," she's saying, smirking into her fizzy drink, "So I was twelve, and I was scrounging around in the jungle for something to eat--,"
"Oh, me too!!" Luffy says, sitting up in his seat, "I was raised in a jungle too!!"
She snickers, covering her face with one feathered hand. "So dangerous," she says, and Luffy shrugs. He's used to danger. (Is that what the D stands for?) He's not sure.
"So, anyway," she sips from her frosted copper mug, "Super hungry, super lost, thirsty as all shit--and I stumble across this stupid fruit. It's green, all swirly, sorta like a kiwi? Like the inside of it," she swallows, and Luffy sneaks his fingers into her drink. She scoffs, surprised, but she lets him swipe the lime wedge anyway.
"And ya ate it?"
"Mhmm," she nods, wings folded behind her as she speaks, "Tasted like shit--,"
"Mine too! It was purple though."
She smiles, "And there ya go! Sprouted wings and found out I could shift shapes, now. Sorta really cool, actually...," she trails off, eyes sliding to the side. Luffy pokes her cheek.
"Ya can fly, right?!"
"Mhmm, but not for very long."
"So cool," Luffy says again, relaxing back into his seat. His fingers circle his big toes, as he rocks back and forth. He's hungry.
"Can we get snacks?"
She stares at him for a second, but then shrugs. "Sure," she smirks, "My shift's over, anyway. Wanna steal something from the back?"
Luffy's chest soars.
She stands, extending her hand to him. He takes it, and follows along behind her as she leads him out of the club and back in through a back door. She doesn't mind walking around the streets and alleyway in her heels and lingerie, which Luffy likes. She looks comfy, like that. She leaves her wings out too, which Luffy likes even more.
She sneaks into the fridge, opening it to survey its contents. "Salami?" She asks, holding out a log of spiced meat. Luffy thinks he knows what falling in love feels like, all of a sudden.
He licks his lips.
"Sure," he sounds a little hungrier than he means to, but she hands him the whole thing anyway. She reaches back in to pull out a wedge of cheese for herself.
"Let's go eat," she leads him back through the alleyway and down the street. She's got her duffel bag over her shoulder, having run into the dressing room to grab her things. She's wearing a hoodie over her sparkly lingerie, but the sleeves are too long since she's wearing it under her wings. It drapes over her elbows as she walks.
Sanji's gonna be so jealous.
Luffy is giddy as he follows her down the street. She chews her bites of cheese slowly, whereas Luffy has already inhaled his meat. She turns to him, suddenly.
“Wanna stay over at my place?”
Luffy grins.
“Sure!”

Self-rec time! What are your favorite five fics that you've written and why? After replying to this ask, feel free pass on to five other writers to spread the love. 💗
Hi, thank you for the ask 💗 It's difficult to pick, not because I think all of my fics are amazing, but because writing takes a lot of effort so I only make time to write the ideas that I love. Right now, as a survival technique, my favorite fics are my three WIPs (one in each of my fandoms).
Focusing on my completed fics, in descending order:
5 -- In Your Image (Harry Potter, Tomarry):
It's rare for me to finish writing a fic and look back upon it with the feeling that I accomplished everything I intended from the outset. This is one of the exceptions. Aside from phrasing and word choices that can always be improved, I am satisfied with my Tomarry take on The Picture of Dorian Gray, and I'm especially proud of the climax and ending.
4 -- Inventing Paradoxes (Harry Potter, Tomarry)
This is a sentimental favorite. I came back to the Harry Potter fandom during the pandemic as a coping mechanism, so I wanted to write something lighthearted and happy (though one could argue I should've picked a different ship). With the Paradoxes series, I regained confidence in writing, a skill that had grown rusty, and I also got a lot of support from my readers, which made me feel like part of a community during a difficult period.
3 -- Perhaps Love (Digimon, Takari)
Another sentimental favorite: I first started planning / writing this fic when I was a teenager, upset with the non-canonical ending to my first ship. The heydays of the fandom have long past by the time I posted, but I was able to find readers who felt similarly disappointed and appreciated the ending that I provided. As with many of my stories, Perhaps was written around three pivotal scenes, and when I reread them years later, I can still appreciate the emotional impact that I was aiming for.
2 -- (never) let me go (Harry Potter, Tomarry)
I've always been and am still fascinated by the concept of death. As a teenager, I wanted to write a story where Harry struggles with the concept of immortality as the Master of Death because it means leaving his loved ones behind, but I didn't have the life experience to pull the story together. After discovering Tomarry, I reframed my original idea into a story about the acceptance of death: both from Harry, who doesn't want to lose someone he loves, and from Tom, who's afraid of moving on.
It's sort of a strange story, and I still find things I'd like to improve when I reread it. However, I was happy that it found readers who enjoyed its strangeness and super flattered that it was bound into a little book!
1 -- Once Upon a Fairy Tale (Digimon, Takari)
Like In Your Image, this is one of the few stories where I feel that I satisfactorily translated my complete vision to paper (and more). I enjoyed exploring how two characters can fall in love and yet still not be together, a theme that I revisit in other works, whether consciously or subconsciously. And when I reread the story, I can discern the hopes and dreams of a person who has yet to experience the ups and downs of real life, which fills me with bittersweet nostalgia for the innocence I once had.
Thanks for reading my rambling!
I'll tag @moonytear, @isalisewrites, and @kippipies (but no pressure at all!).

Okay this is a very hard post for me to make but i feel like i have to make it. I can't be quiet about this any more. I can't keep saying it where nobody will see it because i need people to see it. If the friends of anyone mentioned in this post want to send it their way, feel free. This is not a call-out post. This is an apology, and an ask for explanation.
I want to preface what I'm about to say with: I'm not mad at anyone mentioned in this post. I don't think anybody in The Creachures is. We all miss you and wish things could've worked out. I'm sorry if what I say comes off as hostile or aggressive, I'm not great at wording this sort of thing, and it's coming from a place of much emotion.
@hexedbug @juneibyou @xxthunderthedragon @bobisnotaperson @razzytism
You five have caused me a lot of stress and anxiety in not telling me what i did to hurt you. You haven't given me the opportunity to improve upon myself or correct these transgressions, or even apologize to you. I'm sure you're all at least somewhat aware of how I handle feelings like this, and I understand you not wanting to pander to me or hurt yourself by putting up with me and my Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. But you all let me down very harshly, and I've been unable to move past what happened because of it. You've made being on Tumblr miserable, to the point you're making me consider quitting Tumblr, because being on here and seeing you constantly and feeling that sense of hatred hurts, especially when you're being closer to my friends than they are with me. I've been told you don't hate me, but it's hard to believe and accept that when, in my head, you've all decided to block me for unknown reasons, and denied me the ability to apologize.
Hexed. I understand you find what I post about weird. And I understand I was interacting with people who "dragged the server down". You're the one I understand the reasoning of the most. Not following me back because you don't like my posts is fine, though you could've just blocked tags/post content about that stuff. If I was tagging things improperly you should've told me so I could correct it, instead of letting it sit inside you until you couldn't handle it. I get I was encouraging people to vent in Tau Heximus 2, something you didn't want. But again, you should have said something, or done something. I contributed to making your server a place you didn't enjoy. I feel like you wanted both a strictly positive place, and a place where people can be honest and close, two things that don't mesh. I chose the one that I enjoyed more, a close, honest community. I'm sorry I went against your wishes.
June. When you left the server, you said that "Bug Squad" were real ones, and that you still liked us. You then went on to call us and our friends Delusional for starting a new server after the old server's death. That hurt immensely. I understand you were in an emotional place, but using a word like that is not acceptable. You also went to my girlfriend's private vent blog to target it directly. You're the only one I ever blocked, because you were being actively hateful, and betrayed my trust directly. I have since unblocked you, though, because I'm not mad at you, not anymore. You were trying to cope with what happened, and I get it. I just wish you handled things more gracefully and politely. I'm sorry for whatever I did to hurt you, besides joining a new server. Just, please, work on your emotional control some, so outbursts like this don't happen again.
Thunder. You're the one I miss the most. I felt so close to you. You almost felt like a brother to me. But the way you've been avoiding bringing up what I did to hurt you makes me feel like you either don't want me to know what i did, or don't know what I did yourself. I just wish you'd be more open to talking, so we can work things out. I'm so sorry for hurting you.
Bobbu. I thought we were still friends when you invited me to join Art and Slimes. I turned it down because I don't think I could handle a server of that size, and had already joined the new server. While we maybe weren't as close as some of the others, I still considered you a friend. I'm sorry for whatever I did.
Raz. I am so, so sorry for everything that happened. TH2 was the only place that you had found comfort and support in to such a degree, and I've been worried about how you've been without that support. I feel like you used to trust me a lot, enough to confide in me about some of your issues. I wish I knew what I did to betray that trust.
There's three others I wish to bring up that haven't hurt me as bad, but I still wish to say something to.
Mars, I'm glad we're still friends. But it feels like you're less a part of Bug Squad than you are Hexed and June's friend group. I'm always worried about the state of our friendship, since you interact with them so much more than Me, Rico, and Tetra. I just feel excluded and neglected, is all. I'm sorry.
Yaza, I don't know how to feel about you. You're clearly more of June and Hexed's friend than mine. Clearly you don't like the new server because we kept bringing this stuff up in the early days, and I'm so sorry for that. I just wish we could still be friends. Because right now it doesn't feel like you want to be my friend.
Eblu. I don't know what to think of you. You're a good guy, really. But when you say you're my friend and then turn around a few days later and say "if you're friends with [close friend of mine] don't interact with me" I have issues with that. Deciding that everyone who's friends with someone is now bad because they made a mistake is not okay. Yes, it was bad that it happened. Yes, that friend should've been more careful. You are valid for being upset by what you saw. But you don't have to declare everyone who likes that person undesirable. You took it too far.
There are two things I did that I feel I need to apologize for that I actually know of.
When Tau Heximus 2 was dying, I had said that killing the server would kill me. That was disgusting of me. I should not have said that. It was emotionally manipulative of me. I was scared, and confused, I had never experienced something like that before, the loss of somewhere that felt like home, it really felt like I was going to die, and I spoke with my heart instead of my head. If this is what I did to hurt you, I am deeply sorry for saying something so uncomfortable. I'm doing my best to keep my emotional responses under control. And I hope that should anything like that happen again, I won't have such a dramatic response.
I would also like to apologize for being so difficult to help. Whenever I'm offered advice on how to improve or fix something, I have a habit of coming up with excuses, or just flat out rejecting it. I don't mean to come off as ungrateful or opposed to your help. Stressful situations cause me to mentally shut down in a way where anything to help that takes even a slight amount of effort becomes an insurmountable task. I'm trying my best to be more receptive of help, even if it's just agreeing that it would help. I just wish I had the means and energy to actually act on the advice. I am so sorry for anyone who I've hurt by denying your help. Offering me advice does help me mentally, because it lets me know people care, but I feel terrible that I hurt people by not being able to accept and act on the help.
This isn't a call-out post. This is me asking for clarification on what I did wrong, apologizing for what I know I did, and wishing to clear things up.
Thank you for reading.

Leaving
Self indulgent silliness. I quit my PhD this year and wondered if professor Dekarios would hate that or not. Here's my answer.
Doe felt her heart sink lower with every step. It was a beautiful spring day, crisp and blue, the sunlight falling like water onto the cobblestones of Blackstaff Academy. She had just turned from its imposing front doors and walked away; the lightness of the time of year, its cheerful birds and easy laughter from Waterdhavians on the street, could not match the tangle in her chest.
It was but a short walk along the seafront back home. The Dekarios tower loomed, at once imposing and also somehow feeling held together by a wish.
And perhaps it was. The wish that rose into her throat, a point of light. She opened the door with trepidation, though the strike of her cane on the floor would announce her arrival even if she tried to be stealthy.
It didn't take long to reach Gale's office; he'd moved it to the ground floor for her sake, installed magical means to traverse the floors to save her from stairs. But this was where he was most often- he insisted on her comfort, and so he was just at the end of the entrance hall, sequestered away.
'Gale?' Doe knocked, cautiously opening the door. 'I have something to tell you.'
He was buried in a book as usual, fine gold glasses perched on his nose. 'One moment please, love. I'm reading about a very tricky potion involving hollyphant feathers and soul coins...'
'I... don't think I want to know,' she said lightly, though his face fell slightly as he looked up at her. 'I was only joking- I mean, what in the hells could require ingredients like that?'
'You're upset.'
'Not at all, I just meant that-'
'No, I mean,' he said, closing the book gently and rising to his feet. 'Something's happened. Tell me.'
'That obvious?' she sighed.
'I make it a point of utmost importance to understand when you are out of sorts, my love.' His warm brown eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled softly, extending a hand. 'Tell me.'
She took it and he drew her in, warm hands wrapping around her, cocooning her in safety. He smelled of sandalwood and incense, sweet and clean.
'You're going to hate me.'
'Nothing in all the realms could make me hate you,' he said, drawing back to frown at her. 'I love you.'
Doe bit her tongue, tears welling. 'I quit. Blackstaff, I left, I walked away. I'm a failure. It was never a good fit for me, I should've realised at the time but I- I thought I could do it. I thought I could be as brilliant as you, and change the world, but-' She dissolved into tears, crying into his robes.
'Shhh,' he soothed quietly. 'You silly little rabbit. I've been hoping you'd leave for months now.'
'Wh- huh?'
'It's not everything you know. And changing the world... well. Some can do that from a classroom. But some people, like your beautiful self...' Gale took her face in his hands, brushed away her tears with his thumbs. 'You're meant to be free. Out in the world, running headlong into any scrap of danger you can find. How can you think you're a failure when you're the most determined creature I've ever known? If anyone can carve out a space in this life out of pure tenacity and spite, it's you. And to be truthful,' he said, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. 'I've been thinking of resigning, too. Maybe this is just the push I need. So. What I want you to do, is choose anywhere on the map. Pack a bag.'
'Seriously?'
'Seriously. I'd go anywhere with you. Let's go on an adventure.'

just emoting under the cut, I gotta get some personal feelings about tumblr off my chest ahh
I am so used to being alone that I've forgotten how to make friends!! which isn't to say I don't love talking, omg I love when you meet someone you can 'yes, and' with, who you can gush about your faves with, to create wild things together, and to listen to one another when things get hard ❤️❤️‍🩹
but as much as I love those things, the initial ice breaking for me in the virtual world is so hard, especially now since so many people I admire followed me back!! 😵‍💫💦 I feel like I'm behind glass but also so scared I'll do something annoying or wrong when I venture out, that people will leave and I'll be alone again
which is not true!! everyone should blog and create what's true to their heart ❤️ and everyone is free to curate their space (not being mutuals doesn't mean you can't be friends! maybe someone just has a certain driver who gives them the ick or maybe they want to follow only aesthetic blogs or maybe they only want close-close pals on the TL, etc etc!) being followed is not a sign of approval or validation that you're good, because you are! (I'm telling myself this!!)
It's more that, I get so nervous. Maybe I'll like and reblog too much or maybe I'll ask something silly. I feel like I am so woefully behind on reading especially, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings that I can't catch up fast enough...or maybe everyone will move on to something new. which is fine, too! and good!! F1 especially with Daniel has been kinda heartbreaking recently. If it's not fun, folks will move on.
but for a few months, it felt so special. To be here for Spa, for Daniel's races, to feel good that I could find things that made people happy, to feel so close to being a part of something, it was so unreal!! ✨
now it's over. and I can keep diving into the past. (I do love to search [especially since it's something I can do at the office on the fly!! or when I'm so absolutely empty after work, mindlessly looking around for something] and I can search for things when the season comes back and I love to gif special events in the off season) but I keep opening this app and feeling so empty, like I'm doing it wrong
and when I do open up, I do it on other blogs, and I get so sad like "ahhh maybe I should've just done it here!!" instead of breaking up pieces of me all over the dang place and getting sad that no one knows who I am
anyways, I think I'm overthinking it! I am! It's not this deep, but it does mean so much to me. And I'm just scared I'll do something wrong, a self-fulfilling prophecy! I used to be so active in a fan discord for a musician (Käärijä, if you're curious!) and I got this same feeling of not knowing how to connect or feeling like I'd make a mistake when everyone there was so lovely 🥺 I kinda can't stand Käärijä anymore, so I didn't go back. I left when I was getting out of a hard living situation irl. I still feel so bad for not going back to properly say goodbye. Life just got so busy
and it is hard irl, I am always at work in an empty office (everyone else is remote!) and then I go home to an empty apartment (just moi!) and see friends on scant weekends (which I treasure!) but all that is to say that I'm sorry!! I'm trying to get life rebalanced, and I keep thinking I can't make friends until I've got life figured out!! also not true!! We're all figuring things out, and we'll be figuring things out forever, there is no "ahh I'm done growing! Now I can enjoy life!"
tl;dr!!!!!!! I'm still figuring things out ❤️ and I will try to connect while I grow 🌱 every kind message and tag and note means so much. I'm wanting to send more out to you too!! I want to reach out, and I'm learning how to do that again, so thank you for being patient with me (especially if you read all this ahh!! I love you!!) ❤️❤️❤️
anyways Autumn out!!!! and I'm not even going to overthink this big old post like I usually do (not every message and tag or post or fic needs to be overwrought like its make or break!!) it's just me. We're all just being ourselves here on tumblr and that's so wonderful, that's the part that matters most!! ❤️✨

⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺
It ended all wrong. Everything turned out to be wrong.
Zenas doesn't remember where, at what point things decided to turn in the wrong direction and changed the course of his life, of one his teammates life. He could not think of any specific moment, choice, or action that could explain the situation at hand at that exact time, but he knew that there was no way he could've turned back to zero again.
Not even now.
The days in Babylonia started to feel too dull, too dark, even the weather felt extremely gloomy, as if the system wanted to accompany him in his mourning. There was always a silence, that no matter how loud the music was, how many people talked, it was impossible to ignore. The absence was abysmal.
Zenas's mind was spiralling to utter chaos and, if he was truly honest with himself, he wasn't even trying to find a stop. The flashbacks of that day, as if they were purposely hunting him and remind him how much everything has changed, colliding with the knowledge of not being able to do nothing, not back then, not now.
He wanted to just sleep and forget about everything. If he were a Construct he would've already asked for a reboot. To Zenas's own disgrace he was but a mere human, and amnesia wasn't something one could ask and be given. He wished he could give up. However, it was not an option. There were still two girls waiting for him to get better, to be back so they could keep with their mission, for them, and for him.
Him. The one missing. The one who wouldn't come back no matter how loud and how many times Zenas called him. His name tasted so different. Bitter.
Unknown to Zenas. He was also calling him, missing him, missing his teammates, missing his days in Babylonia. But he knew that, for his Commandant to be safe, it was best if they thought he was dead. And that's how it should've stayed. How it was supposed to be, yet, not quite meant.
Lee spent the days after the incident of the tower, wandering around earth, cleaning some corrupted and trying to help humans in need. He would search for any supplies that could help them go through their situation a bit better, Lee would also stay in some safe zones by providing some protection, all that by keeping a line and not letting any Construct from Babylonia know he was still alive.
After all, he was technically an Ascendant now. Even if he didn't give himself to the virus and became an Agent, he was still a corrupted, someone who Babylonia deemed a danger, something that needed to be ended. The years he spent in the front lines fighting for humanity meant nothing.
But it mattered little. As long as he could keep helping, it was fine. He just needed to make sure to keep his activities hidden and it should be fine. Right? That's how he planned everything, however, not everything goes according to a certain plan. That's why Lee never expected to see him.
Just like any other day, Lee was scanning the surroundings, his gun needed some repair after fighting nonstop some ascendants he did not know about. The task, as difficult as trying to dry out the ocean, was taking too long, he walked for hours, checked dead corrupted and even the weapons those ascendants were using, to no avail.
The sun was setting down. Wandering during the night being not the best option, he opted for finding a suitable place to rest and hide. That's where he found such a place. A greenhouse.
How come there's a greenhouse? Is that even possible considering the environment? Those thoughts filled his M.I.N.D. It was in fair condition, the glasses a bit muddy, but none of them were broken. He could see even a variety of flowers, wild grass growing outside the greenhouse, birds and butterflies flying happily at the sight.
While keeping as quiet as he could, Lee tried to get close and what he saw startled him. Inside, vintage furniture in really good state, teacups and… food? Two shadows suddenly appeared, Lee clutched down, kept that position for a few seconds before straightening a bit and focusing his visual mode on the two people.
Ascendants? Humans?
He could clearly see one of them, although just from the back, he had long white hair, dressed in a… suit? as weird as it looked, that person was wearing quite a fancy suit, and his mannerisms were as delicate as they could be. Maybe that individual used to be from a prominent family. The latter sat down on a sofa, now the other person was visible.
Lee's mechanical heart started to beat too fast. Chaos formed on his M.I.N.D and he could feel how his frame was malfunctioning slightly at the sight. The height matched perfectly, those pretty and unique eyes, with more dark circles that he remembered, that black messy hair with blue tips. Oh, and that mischievous smile, showing his fangs.
It was him. His Commandant. Zenas was standing there, inside that greenhouse, and moreover, he was having a conversation with an Ascendant. His posture was casual, Lee could notice that Zenas was too relaxed, so that only meant one thing: he knew that Ascendant, he knew he wasn't in danger.
In an attempt to deny what he was seeing, he double checked his visual modules and even did a deep scan on his M.I.N.D, just to be sure that it wasn't a trick or some error. As expected, everything was fine. What he saw was happening.
Lee sat down and rested his back on a rock. He needed to calm down. Of course, it was easier to said than to be done, it has been so long since the last time he saw Zenas, he knew himself very well, denying those feelings and the urge to run inside that greenhouse were too much to handle, but he couldn't let his Commandant know he was alive. Or it would oppose a danger not only to him but also to Lucia and Liv. He closed his eyes and tried to think of just that, of how bad it'd be if he dared to show his face. But oh boy, how much he desired to see him up close, to hug him, to…
ㅤㅤㅤ“Don't lose focus.” he said to himself through gritted teeth.
His ear still picked up some noise. If he wanted he could've easily listened to what they were talking but it was none of his business. At least not anymore. So he only opted to hear small hints that would let him know if Zenas left. And after what seemed ages, the glass door opened and a pair of steps started to fade away.
ㅤㅤㅤ“He left already.” a raspy voice came from behind, “You can come out now, Ascendant.” finished, for some reason the tone of his voice carried some kind of annoyance.
Lee stood up and faced the white-haired person. It was a few centimetres taller than him, up close he could see his eyes didn't match in colour, one was of a dark green and the other was black. He talked and moved with delicacy. Nonetheless, this young man was still an Ascendant, so why did he sound so annoyed? Could it be..?
ㅤㅤㅤ“Why were you hiding here?” he asked, his face was stoic, no sign of emotion, then added, “You are… Lee, right?”
That question left Lee speechless. Did he know who he was? Does that mean, as he thought of, Zenas knew this Ascendant was some sort of friend? He was at loss for words. The silence was enough response for the man in front of him.
ㅤㅤㅤ“Zenas used to talk a lot about you” mencione casually, at the same time he did a gesture with his hand, as if telling Lee to get inside the greenhouse so they could talk. So he did.
After the two of them walked in, the door closed. The young man talked again. “You look slightly different from what he told me, but the overall essence is there. How did he call you?” he pondered to himself while serving tea. “Ah, right, he used to refer to you as his ‘soon-to-be boyfriend’, I remember now.”
His… boyfriend. It sounded pretty, it sounded right. Lee was not aware of it, but a smile took shape, the boy who was looking at him let out a sigh. If there was a mirror, Lee would've probably be shocked now, the warmth inside his body was perfectly visible on his face, that shy smile was still there and there was so much fondness in his eyes.
ㅤㅤㅤ“You can just tell him. He would go with you.”
That line brought Lee back to reality. Now his eyes were locked on the young man's. If he was honest, he wanted to ask what kind of relationship the two of them has but right now there was something more important to clarify.
ㅤㅤㅤ“He is not allowed to know I'm alive. It would out him in a lot of risk” Lee said firmly.
ㅤㅤㅤ“But he—”
ㅤㅤㅤ“I know he…” there was a pause, the words were stuck on his throat, swallowing seemed like a hard task now, “I know he would follow me, but it's precisely because of that reason that he mustn't know about my actual situation.”
The young man, again, sighed heavily. “I never understood him, and now I don't understand you either. It's clear that both of you share the same feelings for the other, so why not make it easy and just be honest?” he took a sir, crossed his leg and grabbed one of the teacup, “What are you scared of? He is a very strong and capable human, and trust me, he is not fond of the human side of his. He would gladly give up that just to stay with you.” finished his sentence and took a sip. Lee could smell it, it was a strong black tea, the same Zenas would usually drink.
Lee grasped his gun with so much strength it started to break, that statement was enough to make him angry. Funny enough that anger was directly at himself, for feeling slightly happy at hearing that, at the fact that Zenas felt the same way he did.
ㅤㅤㅤ“No.” Lee replied, the anger did not subdued. “If you know what I feel, then you should know that I would never do something that'd put him in danger. So I suggest you keep your mouth shut and keep this conversation hidden from him.”
The next few seconds were filled with silence, not far away the sound of birds could be heard. The tension was so palpable, anyone who dared to enter that greenhouse would've been able to feel it, even cut it with scissors. The Ascendant took a few more sips from the cup, placed it back on the table and stood up again, walked straight to Lee and stopped two steps away.
ㅤㅤㅤ“You would do anything he ordered you, right? That's how loyal you are.
ㅤㅤㅤ“Yes.” he answered.
ㅤㅤㅤ“If he asked you to kill yourself, would you do it?” the man questioned him again, his eyes showing not a single ounce of emotion.
ㅤㅤㅤ“Yes.” dry, sure of himself. That was Lee's answer.
The Ascendants let out a chuckle. It seemed that he was not expecting such loyalty. And there was not a single second where the man thought Lee was lying, what made it even more surprising.
ㅤㅤㅤ“What a duo of insane people.”
⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺⸺
🦋 and that's it. i hope it was good enough.
🦋 if you reaches this far, thank you for reading.
