Long-Awaited Confession - A Wil Ohmsford x Reader Oneshot
Amberle sacrificed herself instead of me to become a part of the Ellcrys.
That's how all this started.
It began just like normal. Amberle and I decided that there should be some female Chosen, to motivate the younger girls that society shouldn't hold them back from what they truly believed in. Once, we both got in, things started... changing.
It started with visions and whispers. When I told Amberle about them, she said she had the same.
Then, the Druid Allanon came along with his apprentice half-elf Wil Ohmsford. They told us a bunch of crap about saving the world we know from demons that are escaping, one by one as the leaves of the Ellcrys fell to the ground. And it is as daunting as it sounds.
The moment we realized one of us had to sacrifice the life they had, I was certain it was going to be me.
I mean, Amberle had people that cared for her. A boyfriend who was willing to die for her safety. And an important position that only she would be able to uphold. But, she didn't agree, and laid down her life the moment we heard. Amberle didn't even give me time to protest.
It all hit hard, but mostly for Wil.
Only the Gods knew how much I loved him. He was so sweet and so silly. Not to mention, the bravery and courage he showed to everyone when the battle neared us. The battle was a lot for me to take. The idea of him falling down at the strike of a demon was enough to bring me nightmares.
I should've known he would manage.
I sighed, leaning back against the tree as I settled myself on the highest branch, scratches covering the revealed spots of skin from climbing up the tree. The sun was setting in the distance, disappearing behind the mountains. Despite it being the middle of summer, because of the high altitude, the tips of the mountains were still covered in this brightening white of snow.
''...can't continue this, Wil.''
The voices of Allanon and Wil beneath me brought my attention back down. I was so high up, the figures weren't that clear for me. But I realized who they were before seeing them.
''I'm sorry, but she meant a lot to me, Allanon. It's hard to forget someone instantly when you cared for them with your entire being.''
My heart dropped to my stomach.
They were talking about Amberle.
I got up a bit and started climbing to the tip of the branch, trying to still keep an eye on the two men as they went on with their conversation. It surprised me that they hadn't caught me yet. The branches were creaking a lot at the movement of my weight switching spots.
''Nobody knows that more than I do, Will, as I've lost people, too. But we can't stand still by it too long. You need to accept she's gone, and go forth. Isn't that what Amberle would've wanted?''
A tear fell down my cheek. It dripped down my chin and down onto the blonde man beneath me. The feeling of water on his hand caused him to look up, but I realized it quickly enough, making sure I was heading behind the roof of leaves.
His eyes raked over the tree before settling back down.
His undivided attention went back to Allanon, ''I'll try.''
Allanon nodded, ''Good. Now, have you gotten any idea where Y/N is? We need to treat her wounds before she's at risk of infection.''
Wil shook his head.
I was leaning back against the tree, waiting for their retreating footsteps till I climbed down. I scratched myself a few more times. My feet hit the ground and the first thing I noticed was the sound of rustling, followed by a looming shadow hovering over my body.
I spun around my heels, eyes slightly widened at the sight of Wil, ''Hi.''
''Hi.'' He smiled at me, arms crossed over his chest.
I looked back and forth between him, anxiety washing over me.
''Do you want something?''
''You tell me,'' he stepped closer, ''since you heard everything when you were right above us.''
I turned red, but pretended like it was the cold breeze, ''What? Pffft, no,'' he tilted his head, challenging me, ''what are you talking about?''
''Please. I know you better than that.''
I didn't say a thing and just made a run for it. Allanon was waiting for me anyway.
-
The minute Allanon was done, I stepped out of the hut and froze when I saw Wil waiting. Apparently our conversation wasn't embarrassing enough. His gaze fell on me, his feet bringing him closer to me.
The moment he was in a close proximity to me, I didn't think for another second and wrapped my arms around his neck.
His body stiffened but relaxed not that soon after.
''I miss her, too.''
His head dropped to my shoulders, his arms wrapping itself around my waist. I felt the tears on my shoulders and let him cry for a bit.
Soon, he composed himself again and pulled something out of his bag. It was a piece of my favorite fruit.
A smile covered on my face, ''Is... that for me?''
''Well, yeah,'' he glanced between me and the fruit in his extended hand, ''I thought it might sweeten the conversation we're about to have.''
''Oh? Will it be that awful?''
He shrugged, ''I don't think so, at least, not if it goes the way I want it to.''
I took the fruit, taking a bite and let him lead the way. He had found this quiet spot near the creek where he dragged this log to serve as our bench.
It felt romantic.
''Have a seat.''
His arms motioned for a spot and I thanked him, listening to him. He didn't stand there long after and sat down beside me, a silence wafting over us.
''You want a piece?'' I held it out.
His eyes met mine and nodded, taking a bite from the fruit in my hand. Some of the juice went down the corner of his mouth. A chuckle escaped my mouth.
''You'd think a man your age would be able to eat without spilling.'' His cheeks turned red at my comment, but I didn't notice as I ripped a piece from my shirt and gently patted it against the dripping juice.
The moment slowed down, the both of us just looking at each other.
His eyes met mine and they held them, in a sort of hypnotic way. My heart started pounding two times faster and the butterflies in my stomach went on a rampage at the sight of his gaze. He cleared his throat and the minute I heard it, I turned my head around.
''Here.'' He accepted the piece of ripped clothing with a silent thanks.
After a needed silence, I spoke up, ''What would you like to talk about?''
''Oh, uhm,'' he cleared his throat, turning to me, ''I would like to speak about... us?''
''Us?''
''Yeah. I know it's a bit sudden, and I don't really know if there really is an 'us', and if it's not, I would like there to be if you would want it, but don't feel obliged to ac-''
''There already was an us,'' I smiled shyly, eyes moving away from him, ''I think there was an us the second I met you. Do you remember? You were searching for me and Amberle at Aunt Pyria's-''
He started laughing, ''Yeah, it wasn't my finest moment.''
''Mine neither.''
The heaviness between us got a bit lighter, making it easier to face each other.
''With Amberle and the whole Ellcrys thing, it's been a lot. But she shared something that I thought we needed to talk about.''
I hummed, waiting for his response to clarify.
He grabbed my hands, ''Do you... feel something... for me?''
''Oh,'' I was surprised at the bluntness, ''uhm... y-yeah. I guess so.''
He sighed in relief, ''Good, otherwise this conversation was about to get real awkward real fast.''
I chuckled.
''You see, me and Amberle had a talk before that. We had some moments between us, but we both weren't willing to move on it. I don't have a clear idea on why she didn't want it, but I knew I didn't want to because there was someone else I had an eye on. I love you, Y/N.''
The shock kept me silent. The only thing between us was his soft pants, anticipating my reaction, and me blinking at him like I was stupid.
I shook my head, ''You don't have to say that because she spilled the beans about my feelings. I would accept it-''
''I really, really do love you, Y/N, and it doesn't have anything to do with me not wanting to hurt you. Sure, I don't want to do that, but I'm not willing to lead you on to spare you the pain. It's the whole truth. I care about you, and I want to be with you.''
He waited for my reaction.
I was speechless.
No words came to mind as I let his words sit and soak into my mind, making me jump in action. I leaned forward, pressing my lips against his briefly.
He was shocked as I pulled back with a smile, ''I love you, too, Wil.''
A smile came on his face and with one hand on my cheek, he leaned back towards me and pulled me into another kiss. This one coming from the both of us and a bit more passionate.
His lips were as soft as I always dreamt they were, but the kissing was way better than any of my hopes and dreams of it.
My lips moved in sync with his.
The minute we pulled away, his forehead connected against mine. The both of us were a panting mess, but we couldn't be happier.
''Hey, love birds,'' Allanon called with a grin, ''dinner's ready.''
We chuckled and nodded. I grabbed his hand when he wanted to pull me up, and with my hand in his we made our way.
Eretria was already eating up her portion, her eyes not leaving mine once as soon as she saw the hand-holding.
''What'd I miss?''
''I'll tell you later.'' I chuckled, Wil not leaving my side once.

Old Friends
fandom: the shannara chronicles
pairing: Allanon x Reader
warnings: smut (18+)
A dark cave hidden along the shore of the ocean that went on endlessly as far as the human eye could see. Lost in time, out of reach for most. It was a lonely place. Secluded. And a more than fitting place for him to rest.
Water gathered at the cold stone walls and ran down the sides of the cave. Little drops formed at the top splashed onto the ground in an uneven rhythm that was strangely relaxing. Moss had taken over every corner and stretched to reach even the furthest regions of darkness.
There he lay, in the middle of the room, floating above an old altar that was once build by the druids that came before you. He wasn't moving a muscle, wasn't even breathing. More dead than alive from the looks of it. But he wasn't. You let your fingers wander across his arms as you move closer, bringing your face down just barely away from his. A hand suddenly grabs your wrist, holding it with such force that you couldn't move away if you wanted. He opens his eyes in a matter of seconds and just like that every indication of that peaceful sleeping face is gone, immediately replaced with a scowling look as he notices you.
Allanon groans as he sits up, slowly getting his strength back after a long time of sleeping. He did not like to be woken early and it showed.
"Why are you here?"
"A certain king has requested your presence at court."
"I'm a druid, not a knight." He jumps down from the stone altar, grabbing a bag that had been tossed to the ground there a long time ago, "I don't come running whenever a king can't handle his own problems."
"You'll want to hear about this problem."
" Why? "
"He'll explain, much better than I could I presume."
He gives you a knowing look, shaking his head with clear annoyance written all over his face, " You got bored halfway through and stopped listening, did you not? "
"You have no way of proofing that." You make a dismissive gesture with your hand and start walking, out of the cave and along the beach to reach the forest before nightfall.
-
The little fire was crackling, flames rising up into the dark night sky. Around you the forest was alive, buzzling with sounds. As you watched Allanon, you didn't mind making it even noisier around here. Your eyes wandered up and down his body, tongue darting out to lick your lips.
"You stare like a whore who has just seen a rich lord across the marketplace."
"I am so glad you haven't lost that certain charm of yours over the years, would have been a pity."
You give him a bright smile across the fire before jumping up to walk a little closer. Allanon watches as you move over, face unreadable as always. The man could literally plan your murder right now and you'd never suspect a thing.
"Come here." He holds out his hand and pulls you down into his lap once you take it. His arms move around your waist, hands sliding down to grab your ass tightly.
"That was surprisingly easy." You wiggle your hips, already feeling the growing erection between his legs.
"I've learned that it is much more efficient to just give you what you want." He puts his mouth to your ear, quietly whispering, "And I've always liked the feeling of you."
-
You had landed on the ground, leaves and hastily discarded clothes scattered around in the darkness of the forest. Your bodies were pressed together, rocking against each other in a fast rhythm.
Allanon didn't waste any time, his cock filling you out completely with one thrust of his hips. You moan in pleasure as his hips snap back and forth repeatedly. Your nails dog into his shoulder, legs crossing behind his back to pull him closer, deeper.
His speed increases, thrusts getting rougher and shorter. He takes your leg, bending it upwards to change the angle he's going at. His fingers move between your legs, rubbing your clit in circular motions. His rough pace and the gentle touch of his fingers are enough to bring you over the edge, walls tightening around him. Allanon grunts, grabbing your shoulders to thrust roughly inside you a few last times before he released himself, cum coating your walls.

"You've got to be kidding me." Will let out, eyes full of disbelief. His stare intense as he bored holes into the forearm of the sleeping figure. Licking his lips nervously at Allanon's call, "Will, what have you found?"
Never once looking up from the person sleeping inside the ancient tech capsule thing, the young Shannara answered," I think I just found your soul mate."

The Last of the Fae
Summary: And so it begins.
AN: The chants are weird but whatever. A special thank you to @lotr-stuff-and-imagines-i-guess for helping me write this chapter! Check out her blog she is a great writer!
Chapter Five
I began to pack a few bags filled with food, water, and clothes we would need for the trip. After about an hour of gathering everything, I went to the throne room, assuming I would find Allanon and Eventine discussing the trip, but I walked in and saw Arion stabbing Allanon with the Warlock Lord’s blade.
“What are you doing?!” I yell.
“He was lying to us the whole time! We could not trust him, so we had to eliminate the threat,” he said, while you scoffed lightly.
“Do you even know what you’re holding? That is a weapon of mass destruction, and the Dagda Mor-” I begin, but Eventine cuts me off.
“Yes, the Dagda Mor that Allanon and you can sense and see, but we cannot, nor do we ever get any solid proof of any of this,” He says, and it is then that I notice the dark aura surrounding him.
My eyebrows knit together, and I focus specifically on Eventine, and can see that it is the changeling instead. I make sure my face stays neutral after that, not giving any hints that I know.
I sigh before saying, “I thought you of all people would trust in me. When my own family turned against me you were the one who gave me a safe haven for some time, do you remember why you did that Eventine?”
“I let you into my home because that is the duty of a king, to look after his people,” he responded.
I scoff, “You are not the man I used to know, you have changed Eventine and I hope this change is not permanent,” I bow before him. “I’ll be out of your hair soon enough and hopefully when I leave the man I once knew would have returned,” I leave the throne room in search of Bandon. We’ll be leaving earlier than planned.
Time Skip
We finally arrived at the Druid’s Keep, home sweet home. We walked into the cave and there he was.
Allanon.
He must’ve come here when he ‘vanished’ into thin air. I told Bandon to take the bags further into the cave and leave them near the entrance. I walked over to Allanon, checking if he was still alive, which he was.
I put a hand over his heart and the other on his forehead. I closed my eyes and looked into his soul. There was only some darkness left in him and I made sure to vanquish it from his soul. I left him where he was and went to set up what I needed to help Bandon.
I set up a spot inside the keep where I could work on him. There was a full moon tonight and that would be of great help to me. I started to mix a few of the herbs I had and made sure to turn it into something easily swallowed.
“Bandon,” I turned to him, “you have to drink it all,” I gave him the mixture to drink. He nodded and downed the drink.
“How long until-” he never finished his sentence.
“It’s a strong dose,” I said to myself as I bent down to lift him up.
“Do need any help?” I unintentionally let out a scream.
“Must you always sneak up on everyone? And yes, if you feel up to it could you place him over on that table,” I pointed to where the moonlight was.
Allanon carried Bandon to the table and lay him down gently. “Is there anything else you need?”
“Maybe try not to be so chatty while I work yeah?” I joked. He cracked a smile and sat in one of the nearby chairs.
I removed my jacket and shoes, leaving me in my dress. It was perfect for my natural form, it was backless and allowed me free movement. Even made me look a bit like a fairy.
My wings fluttered with excitement, I set them free, stretching them as best as I could. My hair turned to its lilac color and my ears got a bit pointier than the elvish way I had them.
I placed a hand on Bandon’s forehead and the other above his heart. I closed my eyes and a few candles lit up, the intricate designs around my body began to glow a faint lilac, as did my hands.
I searched for Bandon’s soul but found nothing, and so I began to chant.
Reveal na nin i which na- dolen. Tul- back na nin i which na- lost. Reveal na ni i which na- dolen. Tul- back na nin i which na- lost. Reveal na ni i which na- dolen. Tul- back na nin i which na- lost. (Reveal to me that which is hidden. Bring back to me that which is lost.)
I was brought to the cage where Bandon was being held. I wasn’t in the cage with him but looking down at him.
“Bandon I’m getting you out of here!” I said.
“Y/N look out!” he yelled.
I flew up into the sky before I was hit, I looked down to see he whom we want destroyed.
“Shouldn’t your kind be dead.” he stated.
“I could say the same to you,” I flew down, near Bandon’s cage.
“Join me,” the Dagda Mor said.
What makes you think I want to join you demon!” I yelled.
It looked like he smirked, “your wings-”
“Are my own,” I growled out. I lifted my head and with my wings I blew a wave of magic at him. He fell of his feet and I took the chance to break Bandon free.
I muttered a quick spell and hit the door of the cage, breaking it. I took Bandon’s hand and pulled him out of the cage.
We dodged another attack from the Dagda Mor.
Mín are baw longer lost, take ammen back na where mín are found. Min are baw longer lost, take ammen back na where min are found. Min are baw longer lost, take ammen back na where min are found. (We are no longer lost, take us back to where we are found.)
I opened my eyes and I was back in the keep. I looked down at Bandon and tried looking into his soul.
I smiled, “he’ll be fine,” I looked over at Allanon.
“What about you?” he asked.
“I uh, I just need some rest is all,” I reigned in my magic and stepped away from Bandon, almost falling.
“I got you,” Allanon carefully lifted me off the ground and carried me to the bed which he set up while I was out.
“Thank you,” I said as he laid me down. I was drifting off to sleep when I felt something against my wings. I looked back and saw Allanon touching my wing. “No one has done that in ages.”
He looked over at me a bit surprised. “I thought you were asleep.”
“Could you- could you maybe keep doing that?” a blush rising to my cheeks, hoping he doesn’t know what it means to touch a fairy's wings.
“Are you sure?” he looked at me with slightly narrowed eyes.
I nodded and turned back around so my wings were facing him. Hesitantly he began to pet my wings, I smiled to myself and fell asleep soon after.

The Shannara Chronicles
B-DAY
Imagine Being Wil and Allanon’s Soulmate
All druids have two soulmates, it’s a simple fact. Druids however are all but extinct. Only one remains, Allanon.
~~~
“Amerberle stop!” you whine and splash the princess right back.
“(Y/N)!” she laughs and pushes water right back at you. Amberle is your cousin but as close as your sister. You fled the kingdom together.
Amberle suddenly stops short and grabs your hand. She pulls you behind a boulder and holds a finger over her lips.
“Stay here,” she whispers and creeps out of the water. With your heart beating fast and fear clamping down you peer out from behind the boulder.
A handsome blonde man is sifting through your and Amberle’s clothing.
Amberle comes up behind him and holds her sword to his throat.
They speak for a moment before Amberle lowers her sword and he turns around.
“(Y/N) you can come out and get dressed now!” Amberle calls. Cautiously you come out of the water and quickly pull your dress on.
That’s when a loud screeching noise echoes in the air.
“Demon,” the man whispers and whips around.
“Hey! What if she wasn’t done?!” Amberle snaps and grabs your arm pulling you close. “(Y/N) this is Wil.”
You lock eyes with the man and time seems to stop.
“Soulmate,” he murmurs and reaches out to you.
“Demon!” Amberle snaps and claps her hands. This jolts us from our gaze and sends us sprinting back to our Aunt.
When we arrive we’re too late the demon has devoured our aunt.
“NO!” Amberle and I screech.
The demon rears its ugly head and comes towards you. Wil takes your hand and pushes you behind him.
Before the demon can get to close a large man appears from nowhere and knocks it to ash with his sword.
“Oh my!,” you gasp. “Oh my!”
Your savior gets to his feet and approaches.
“I am Allanon, I’m here to take you Princess Amberle and Princess (Y/N) back home,” the man informs gruffly.
And then it happens again.
You lock eyes with Allanon and times seems to stop.
“Soulmate,” you whisper.
“What?” Amberle exclaims. Allanon reaches towards you and without thinking you leap into his arms.
“Allanon is a druid. He has two soulmates (Y/N) and I,” Wil explains and then joins in the embrace. Smushed between your soulmates you feel like the safest elf in the world.
“I never thought-I’m so happy! I mean I’m fucking distraught because I just saw my aunt devoured but I’m happy too!” you gush as tears start streaming down your cheeks.
Allanon and Wil hold you while you sob and take great care in keeping you safe for the rest of whole ordeal.
Reader is sparring with Wil/teaching him how to fence properly, and the tension, close proximity and sweat get a little too much to handle...? 🙃
A/N: So uh, guys? I... really don't know what happened here. I loved this prompt so much that my initial “simple” response to this request then turned into… well, this whole thing. I mean, I wrote so much that I HAVE TO BREAK THIS UP INTO PARTS. Liiiiike….when I tell you this half Elf has me in a CHOKEhold. So, uh, anyway, enjoy this totally uncalled for and deep (deep!) dive into the world of Shannara, I guess. Hurray!
PREMISE: Slightly AU from the Shannara series. In this timeline the quest for Safehold is complete, Wil and the others have returned home, and evil has been defeated. Amberle has managed to save the Ellcrys without having to sacrifice herself, but because of her brothers’ death she is now now next in line to become Queen. The story begins a year after the final battle. Allanon returns to warn the court of Arborlon about new demon sightings at the far ends of the realm. The Elvin army is ordered to begin training for war once again as a precaution and the Four Lands remain on high alert following Allanon’s warnings. ‘Reader’ is a Captain of the Guards and is responsible for Wil’s training. She’s been a part of the story and has known him since the beginning. There’s always been a strong energy between them and it’s clear that they both care deeply for each other. However, now that Amberle is about to become Queen Wil is destined to stand by her side as the next King. Now she and Wil have officially announced their wedding. Right after, Wil shows up to his next training session, completely oblivious about Reader’s reaction to the news and what that means for them and their relationship. WARNINGS: mentions of infidelity, intimacy, mentions of war and violence
NOT THAT GIRL - PART 1
(Wil Ohmsford x Reader)
The sound of swords clanging against each other echoes in the air.
“Was that supposed to hurt?”
You lazily step to the side, blocking Wil’s umpteenth attempt to strike you and easily pushing him back. He stumbles awkwardly, almost losing balance. He manages to stay on his feet and lowers his sword, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
“I’m just asking,” you ask with a shrug, “Cause at this point, I’m not sure if you’re actually trying to fight, or if you’re just playing with me because you’re bored.”
“Hey, what’s with the attitude?” Wil asks, confused, “…And by the way, since when do you take these training sessions so seriously?”
Clueless, as usual. Of course he’d think it was about the training.
The mere thought does nothing to calm your frustration.
The two of you are alone in the gigantic outdoor training arena under a canopy of Elvin trees that do little to block the dying sunlight and the summer heat rising from the ground. You’re sweating profusely, the steam is getting unbearable, and Wil is getting on your last nerves. But you’re not about to let him know that. You always thought actions speak louder than words, anyway.
“The entire army is on high alert for demon attacks. I’d start remembering how to actually handle a sword, if I were you,” you snap back as you point your blade towards him, ready to go again - you notice Wil quickly mirrors your movements - but not without adding, “You know, before you find yourself having to save your precious princess and end up making a demon laugh itself to death from how much you suck at fighting.”
The words come out more poisonous than you had intended, and Wil stares at you questioningly. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Without answering you leap forward, delivering a direct blow that takes Wil by surprise. With a yelp he instinctively raises his weapon to protect himself, barely stopping you. You keep pressing forward with your blade, forcing him to step back.
“Hey!” He yells out, “What the hell’s the matter with you?!”
“Focus, Short tips,” you snarl, using the nickname you know he hates so much and pushing him backward once again, “Never lower your guard. It shows your weakness.”
“You’re not playing fair at all,” he retorts, taking a few steps away from you and walking in circles. He kicks the ground in frustration.
“Good luck playing fair with a demon,” you reply dryly.
“Can we just cut it out with the demon threats and actually talk for a moment?”
You shrug. “What’s there to talk about?”
Wil sighs, looking at you intently. You quickly look away, avoiding his eyes. You try to distract yourself observing the ceiling of leaves and branches above you, now illuminated by the first faint night lights as the sun keeps setting behind them. Before you realise he’s even moved, you feel Wil’s hand close on your forearm. You look down and raise an eyebrow before looking back up at him. He seems genuinely concerned.
“…Whatever it is that’s bothering you so much today.” He responds softly.
Something in your stomach churns. You know you’ve been acting like a bitch unreasonably all day, and it hurts him. But you also know there was nothing you can do about it. It’s not like you could go ahead and tell him you’d heard the ‘unofficial’ news about his wedding through gossip amongst the palace staff and the other Guards. Before he’d had the decency to come tell you himself. It’s not like you could tell him that when you’d then heard the official announcement that confirmed everything, it had made you feel like getting stabbed in the chest by a knife. It’s not like you could tell him the very thought of him getting married to Amberle was enough to send you in a jealous rage. Because you had absolutely no right or reason to be jealous. None. And above all, it’s not like you could tell him that feeling his hand on you right now was sending a wave of butterflies bursting in your stomach. And yet…here you were.
You quickly try to dismiss his concern with a dramatic sigh, reluctantly pulling away from his gentle grasp. “The only thing that’s bothering me is the abhorrent way you’ve been fighting today. In case you forgot, I’m the one responsible for your training. If anyone sees how catastrophic your technique is becoming, they’ll come straight for my head.”
He shakes his head, huffing. “This is just a training session. You know that. You’ve never cared so much about my fighting to the point that it makes you this upset. I understand if you don’t want to talk about it,” he quickly adds, “But you can tell me anything. You know that, right?”
“Aww. Sweet, naive Wil. Now, are we done sharing our feelings?” You ask in a mocking voice, rolling your eyes, “The sun’s almost down and I’d like to get at least some work done, if that’s all right with -”
“All right, just - forget it. Forget it.” he cuts you off suddenly, “Let’s get back to practice then. I just thought you trusted me. That’s all.” He seems disappointed. Hurt, almost. He shakes his head and looks away, “I just thought…we were close. That’s all.”
You close your mouth, unable to come up with another witty remark. He resumes his fighting position, pointing his sword at you. His expression changes as he frowns slightly. “Ready?”
You quickly snap back to attention, scoffing. “Of course I am. Can’t say the same for you, but let’s see what you’ve got….” You resume your defence position. “You seriously need the extra practice, let me tell you -”
Suddenly Wil pounces forward, taking you by surprise. You’re quick to recover and manage to block his blow, but he immediately attacks again. The two of you begin a much more intense round of fencing. As you try to adjust to this new burst of angry energy coming from Wil, your mind wanders back….
---------✨✨✨✨✨✨ ---------
“Close”.
Yeah, you’d become “close” all right. If that’s what he wanted to call it. Despite your better judgement, you start replaying instants of memories you’d shared in your mind. The two of you had met right when Wil had first arrived at Arborlon with Allanon to help Amberle. You hadn’t thought much about him at first. After all he just seemed like a naive half-Elf from the countryside who had stumbled upon something much bigger than himself. Even after hearing about the quest for Safehold and how he, Amberle and that rover girl were the ‘Chosen Ones’ for the mission, you were much more preoccupied with the fate of the Four Lands resting upon their shoulders than anything else. Of course destiny was already way ahead of you. King Eventine decided you should accompany the trio for part of their journey along with your best soldiers. Things moved quickly from there: between the seemingly endless trip and never ending danger, the battles and the ambushes, the obstacles and the surprises along the way, you had managed to accomplish your job flawlessly as always. You had turned out to be an essential part of the trio’s journey multiple times, and even though you weren’t one of the Chosen ones your presence had been just as important to the quest as them. Especially, as it turned out, for Wil.
For some strange reason he’d seen beyond the strict, fierce and intimidating character you put forth and had taken a particular interest in interacting with you along the journey. You’d been slightly confused at first, especially since it was glaringly obvious that there was already a love triangle set in motion between him and the two Chosen girls. But you’d also failed to notice any romantic advances on his behalf towards you. So eventually, despite your reluctance in opening up to new people, you figured he simply wasn’t romantically interested in you and had slowly started taking him more into consideration. You’d noticed that despite the two other girls’ attentions he seemed constantly out of place, as though he was just standing on the sidelines of the quest. He was terrified by all of it, that much was clear. But he was also deeply alone. You couldn’t help but relate to him for that. As an orphan you’d spent your life growing up and learning to live by yourself. You’d enrolled in the Elvin army very young, to somehow avenge your parents’ death after they had died in the Ancient Wars many many years before. Fortunately you seemed to be quite good at what you did. Being an outcast turned out to be a shared burden with Wil, and slowly but surely you started seeing him less as a clueless halfling and more like a kindred spirit. Not that you’d ever admit it out loud, especially back then. Your relationship with him had then a sharp turn for the better after one particularly fateful instance.
You’d saved Wil’s life during a particularly vicious battle against the enemy army. A gigantic orc had knocked Wil off his horse with a spiked club, throwing him to the ground and sending his sword flying way out of his reach. You’d seen him crash out of the corner of your eye, the distraction almost causing you to get impaled by a demon. With a fierce move you’d sliced its throat with a clear cut to its jugular, before turning around and bounding towards Wil to help him. Injured by the fall, Wil was clutching his bleeding side and frantically searching for those damn Elfstones that only seemed to work when they wanted to. Just as the the orc had raised his weapon to deliver the fatal blow, you’d leaped in the air and raised your sword once more, burying the blade deep in the monster’s back and cutting him all the way through. Wil had stood watching you, still in shock as the orc fell lifelessly at his feet. You’d quickly managed to somehow drag Wil to safety and keep him alive long enough for the battle to end. You’d helped him cover his wound right after, advising him on how to help it heal - that is, until he stubbornly began trying to use the Elfstones to heal himself. They worked, fortunately.
The quest was over soon after that, and you all returned to Arborlon to figure out what the next chapter of your lives would involve. Wil had spent the following month continuously thanking you for saving him and constantly following you around for whatever strange reason. You’d finally had enough and had asked him - better, ordered him - to cut it off with the thank yous before you regretted saving him in the first place. Embarrassed, he had apologised and promised to stop thanking you - but he hadn’t stopped following you around. When you bluntly asked him what he wanted from you, his ears had turned red and he had confessed that he just liked your company….and was wondering if you could train him. After all, he’d decided to stay at Arborlon for good, and he figured it would be a wise decision to train like an actual Elvin warrior while there was still peace. You know, before the next certain-death mission came along. So, why not train with the best? You were more than surprised by his response.
Not just because you’d never considered someone could actually enjoy your company - your closest ‘friends’ were your soldier colleagues and you could barely call that a deep, meaningful friendship. You were also puzzled because, ever since returning to Arborlon, it had been clear that Amberle and Wil were a couple. The rover girl had left soon after the quest was over, and Amberle and Wil had started acting like a couple publicly. Surely he couldn’t be that stupid to think he could dare date the princess and court one of her Royal Guards - right? Trusting that he would be smart enough to not make such an idiotic mistake, you’d agreed to one training session and see where things went from there. After all you had nothing to lose, right? Oh how wrong you were.
That first training session had quickly turned into an almost everyday occurrence. Not only that. Wil had started hanging around you more and more - before and after your training sessions, in the evenings, sometimes early in the morning when you were busy surveilling the rest of your warriors as they trained themselves. You’d tried to keep yourself immune from his naive charm, his overwhelming altruism and his endless kindness. You’d resisted quite a bit, too. But you were bound to fall sooner or later, and you knew it. And fall you did.
You knew you’d messed up when you started catching yourself doing stupid, silly little things that made you want to smash your own head into a brick wall. You started getting way too distracted by Wil’s eyes, which were neither blue nor gray, but a mixture of hues blue that changed intensity depending on the light. And if Wil happened to touch you in any way - even just offering his arm as a galant gesture while you were walking, or accidentally brushing his arm with yours, let alone all the unavoidable physical contact you had during your training sessions - you started getting a rush of adrenaline that you really, really didn’t like. And, in spite of your usually very dry sense of humor, Wil soon learned just how to make you smile or laugh even when you didn’t want to. No matter how much you tried to keep up your tough act, Wil had managed to break through the walls you’d put up with the rest of the world. And pretty soon, you realised you couldn’t really imagine your days without him.
You hated yourself for that. You were fine living just the way you did. Alone, with no responsibilities other than towards yourself, and only focused on what you wanted and what you needed. Besides, your life was already too unpredictable and dangerous as it was. You could find yourself on a battlefield, or defending the palace from an attack, or risking your life to defend the Four Lands, at any moment. How could you also deal with worrying about someone else?
So of course, you’d done the worst thing you could do. You’d swallowed your budding feelings for Wil and buried them deep, deep inside, acting as though they never existed. Thankfully, years of military mentality had taught you to discipline your brain like a well functioning war machine. You put all your focus on training him as though he was just another one of your warriors, and similarly treated him like just another fellow soldier when you spent time together outside the training arena. Your plan seemed to work pretty decently… until another fateful night.
---------✨✨✨2 weeks ago✨✨✨ ---------
You’d finished training late and had asked Wil if he wanted to join you and the guys at the tavern for a quick drink. He’d said yes. Of course he had. Then, for a series of events that had very little to do with you - stupid dares from your fellow guards and stupid jokes and stupid drinking games - that quick drink had turned into several drinks. So when you and Wil eventually left the tavern after midnight, you were both embarrassingly drunk. Wil had insisted on accompanying you home, ignoring your cries of protests and your attempt at telling him you were perfectly capable of taking care of yourself thankyouverymuch. The two of you had made your way towards the Captain’s quarters, stumbling along and leaning on each other for support. To your horror, you’d realised you were giggling like an idiot at basically anything Wil said. To make matters worse, you’d then tripped over yourself and awkwardly stumbled to the ground like a sack of potatoes. After bursting out laughing, Wil had asked you if you were okay and offered you his hand to get back up on your feet. He’d then taken your arm and placed it around his neck, allowing you to lean on him more comfortably as you walked, and holding onto your hand.
“What were you saying now? You’re perfectly able to take care of yourself?” He’d asked you mockingly, slurring his words as he gave you a cheeky grin.
You’d felt yourself blush furiously and quickly turned your head to hide it from him. Too late…he’d noticed. “Awwww…..is the Captain blushing? Is that a little blush I see? Oh my gosh, you are adorable.”
“Shut UP, Short tips!” You’d retorted, hitting his chest with your free hand.
Fortunately, by then you’d arrived in front of your Quarters. Unfortunately, Will wasn’t about to let you go just yet.
He spun you around so that you were facing him, holding both of your hands to your sides, trying to keep himself steady as he focused his gaze on you.
“Hey, enough with that stupid nickname,” he’d complained, frowning slightly, “You know I hate it, right?”
You rolled your eyes dramatically. “Fiiiiiiine, whatever.”
“Besides,” he continued, “You can drop this whole ‘I’m so tough and independent and heartless’ act with me, you know?” He shook his head, which made him lean dangerously forward. You took a step back and instinctively freed your hands from his grip to place them on his chest and hold him up. “Whoa…take it easy, Short-” you stopped when he shot you a fired look and huffed, “All right, all right, just…take it easy, William.”
“That’s…not my name.”
“What do you mean? What’s Wil short for, then?”
He thought about it for a moment, then grinned meaningfully. “Wil’s not short for anything.”
You’d stood there with your mouth hanging open, at a loss for words.
“You did not just say that-”
He giggled, then hiccuped.
This is a nightmare, you thought. This was the most adorable thing you’d ever seen in your life, and it was a nightmare.
“Anyway, that’s not what matters,” he’d quickly recovered, shaking his mane of blonde hair and taking your hands in his once again, holding them up to your chest.
You noticed the two of you had somehow mindlessly walked just besides your Quarter’s doors and into a side alleyway that was a little more secluded than the main road.
Wil took a moment to inhale deeply.
“Heeeey….hey, hey,” he mumbled, searching for your gaze until he had locked eyes with you, “What matters is that you listen to what I just said, okay? And I said, you can drop the act. It’s okay. I get it. I know who you are. I trust you. But I also think that sometimes the way you act is a bunch of crap -”
“Uh, excuse you?” You’d cut him off, raising an eyebrow and acting offended. Wil however, noticed that you did not pull away from him or break eye contact. “What do you think you know about me, exactly? I mean - One day you march in here from the Vale, save the world, come back a hero, beg me to train you - oh don’t give me that look, you were begging like a puppy - and even though I already saved your ass on the battlefield and took you back home safely, effectively ending my duties towards you - no, stop that!” you’d playfully smacked his chest again as he started laughing under his breath, “You STILL insist that I train you, until I cave in and say yes and then….and then what? You waltz into my everyday life with your horrendous sparring and your stupid blonde hair always getting in your face and you look at me with your stupid blue eyes and you talk with your stupid deep voice and you tell me all these stupid nice things, trying to woo me just like the pretty boy you are…. a-and suddenly, now you’re this know-it-all who knows everything about me?”
He was fully laughing by now, his shoulders shaking as he tried to keep his voice down. “Wait wait wait….I think I missed something….” He said between fits of laughter, “…Why is my….hair? Eyes?…my voice….Did you seriously call them stupid?” He kept laughing as he slowly walked you backwards until you felt your back touch the wall of the building.
You rolled your eyes again, but Wil’s contagious laughter was catching on to you and soon you were also holding your breath to keep yourself from laughing out loud. After a few moments, the two of you had managed to pull yourselves together long enough to speak again. “All right, all right, pretty boy…” you’d mocked him, shaking your head, “…I think we better cut it out and go to sleep. We’re gonna wake up the entire army if we keep this up.”
You gently freed yourself from his hold, smoothing the front of his shirt with your hands as you tilted your head to the side, a small smile on your face. Just when you started noticing how nice Wil’s chest felt beneath your touch and your mind started wondering towards much less innocent thoughts, you caught Wil’s gaze and suddenly your heart skipped a beat.
Wil was staring at you with a peaceful but intense gaze, taking his time to scrutinise your face as he lifted his hand to slowly push a strand of hair behind your ear. He shook his head lightly.
“You really are something else,” hensaid softly as he caressed your cheek. Your breath caught in your throat as you felt him place his hands gently at the base of your neck. Then, he started to lean forward….but only to give you just a chaste kiss on the forehead. Yeah. Just.
He mumbled something under his breath as he pulled back. “What was that…?!” You’d asked him a little too quickly, desperate to distract yourself from the giddiness bubbling in your stomach thinking about the feel of his lips on your forehead. You needed to get it together. You’re a Captain, for Goodness’s sake! What was the matter with you?! Just look at you. Giggling and hiding in a shadowed alley with the princess’s betrothed, drunk on Elvish beer, on a work night?! You were a disgrace.
And you were loving every single moment of it.
“Hmmm?.…Whatsthat?” He mumbled, his voice oddly huskier all of a sudden.
“What did you say?”
“Oh…..yeah,” he shrugged with a snort of laughter, “No, yeah, I mean, I was just talking to myself thinking I probably should have chosen you instead of Amberle or Eritrea, you know.”
Despite the shock in hearing his absolutely unexpected and totally random confession, you couldn’t control yourself as you grinned broadly.
“Oh, now is that so? Well, it’s too bad I’m not into cute future princes with pretty eyes,” you murmured sarcastically, as you daringly leaned back against the wall and mirrored his gesture of pushing his hair behind his ear. “You know….I’ve got more of a savage warrior-type. No offence…” you’d shrugged playfully, looking back into his eyes. And quickly realising that was a big mistake. He wasn’t laughing anymore now, just looking at you. Far too intensely for your liking.
You cleared your throat and attempted to gently push him back, just enough to lean away from the wall, but surprisingly you felt him keep you pinned to the spot with his weight. You huffed, half embarrassed and half anxious.
“…I could be a savage for you,” he suddenly mumbled, acting hurt.
You snorted with laughter again, “You could barely kill a demon with your own sword.” “Are you ever going to stop bringing that up?!”
“Yeah, when you stop getting your ass kicked every day when I train you,” you retorted, and he covered your mouth with his hand.
“I said, drop the act,” he repeated, looking at you meaningfully.
You felt your knees grow weak as he slowly dragged his hand away from your mouth. There was a moment of awkward silence, then you’d sigh tiredly.
“All right, let’s go get some sleep, pretty boy…” you said softly, patting his shoulder amicably. This time he let you pull away from him….but it was just for a moment.
As you started to turn your back to him, muttering “Goodnight, then…” and waving goodbye, you felt him take your wrist. You stopped in your tracks.
“Hey…” he called softly. Before you could even think about reacting, he pulled you back to him gently, opening his arms and enveloping you in an embrace. You felt the air literally being squeezed out of your lungs as he wrapped his strong arms around you, holding you close. You could only let yourself go, leaning your head on his chest and breathing deeply. Wil adjusted his body to yours, holding onto you more tightly and leaning his chin on the top of your head. He swayed you back and forth gently, caressing your back lightly with his hands. “…Thank you for everything you do for me.” you’d heard him whisper.
Taking it as your cue, you pulled back and shook your head, once again at a loss for words to properly respond.
“Uh…sure…just….doing my duty…doing the right thing, y’know…”
“Well, I hope it’s a little more than that,” Wil playfully poked fun at you, winking as his face lit up, melting your heart.
“Y-yeah…sure…” you mumbled.
You looked at him again and the air around you suddenly changed. You felt much, much more sober. You watched as Will leaned in again once again, cupping your face in his hands. This time, you weren’t sure the gesture would be as innocent as before. You held your breath and closed your eyes. Wil stopped just a breath away from you, hesitating, his lips hovering over yours. You couldn’t find the courage to move, neither away nor towards him. Bringing your hands up to rest on his, you grasped them with a force that betrayed your nervousness.
“Wil…” you breathed, letting out a shaky breath. Your mouths were so close that your lips gently brushed against each other as you spoke.
“Hmm?” He asked, still standing still and keeping his eyes closed. You suddenly realized he was giving you the choice.
You also suddenly realized he was just as nervous as you were. His chest was pressed so close to yours that you could feel his heartbeat racing.
“What would I do without you?” he said softly, moving slowly as he began placing small kisses on your face: “You strong….” A kiss on your cheek, “…brave…” a peck on your nose, “…smart…” another kiss on your temple, “…beautiful…” another on your other cheek, pausing as he murmured “…but also so lonely…” he said this last part under his breath, almost to himself. He was facing you again, your mouths barely a breath apart once more.
You couldn’t believe this was happening. Your mind was racing a million miles a minute. You knew what you want to do. You knew exactly what you want to do. But you also knew it would be wrong. Your moral duty towards your kingdom and your duty as Captain raged a battle against the butterflies in your stomach. The blood in your veins seemed to be chanting Wil’s name in your ears like a spell. You thought about the war…and your responsibilities as Captain….and Wil’s responsibilities….and his loyalty to Amberle….and your loyalty to the crown….and it was all too much.
“Wil…”
You soothingly ran your thumbs along Wil’s hands, hoping to soften the blow. You only allowed yourself to revel in the closeness of his body and the tingle of his lips against yours for a few more blessed seconds. You despised yourself with every ounce of your being for what you were about to say.
“….We c-can’t.” You stuttered softly.
You never stuttered. You took another moment, feeling Wil clench his jaw slightly. He didn’t seem to want to move. Instead, he shook his head with a mutter of disagreement and kept holding on to you, his eyes still closed. When you tried to budge he pulled you back. Then he didi the worst possible thing he could do - he whsipered your name softly, and it almost broke your heart.
The worst battle of your life would never been remotely as hard as this. You shook your head, biting your lip and cursing mentally when you grazed his mouth with yours once more in doing so. You cleared your throat again.
“….I mean, it’s late, you’re drunk, I’m drunk, and this isn’t…we can’t. Not like….like this. You won’t even remember this in the morning. Come on, you silly prince,” you scolded him gently, giving him a little smile as he finally opened his eyes. He cleared his throat too, as though waking up from a daze. His ears were glowing red in embarrassment.
“I’m s-sorry,” he mumbled, looking mortified either by his actions or by your rejection. You felt him try to pull away from you, but now it was your turn to stop him. “Hey….hey,” you hushed him softly, pulling him back to you and wrapping your arms around his broad shoulders. You leaned in, daring to place a lingering kiss on his cheek and leaning your face against his to whisper in his ear. “I really care about you. You remember that, okay?”
He let out a sigh of relief as though an enormous weight had just been lifted from his chest. You felt him nod and pulled back to look into his eyes. You gave him a light smile, holding his hands in yours.
“….Do you think you can handle getting home by yourself?”
He scoffed, looking away, “Yeah, I think I’ve made enough of a fool of myself….it’s really time for me to go. Right….so….goodnight.”
He nodded once as he gently let go of you. You exchanged one last longing stare filled with meaning and unspoken words. Then you chuckled half heartedly.
“Ready to get your ass kicked again tomorrow?”
“Yeah….” He laughed, but the sound was much more bitter than before. “…Can’t wait.”
And with one last wave, he turned around and disappeared down the dark pathway. You stumbled backwards until you hit the wall, falling to your knees and mentally kicking yourself as you felt tears slowly start running down your face.
---------✨✨✨✨✨✨ ---------
That night was probably the beginning of the end, even though you didn’t know it yet. Wil had mysteriously disappeared for a whole week after that, and the anxiety of wondering where he’d gone had almost given you a heart attack. When you’d seen him walk back inside the training camp on the eight day since disappearing as though nothing had happened, you weren’t sure whether you wanted to kill him on the spot or jump in his arms. You settled for a death glare that he quickly dismissed with his usual carefree laughter.
“Missed me?”
Of course, now you knew there’d been another reason why he’d disappeared. It hadn’t been because of you. Oh, no. It had been because he and Amberle had been too busy planning their wedding without telling anyone during that week. You were ready to bet good money on the fact that someone had tipped the princess off on your little night escapade, casually pushing her to insist on getting married as soon as possible. Of course, you’d known nothing of their plans. And Wil certainly hadn’t had the decency to tell you anything. So you’d had to find out in the worst possible way: through whispers and gossip running through the palace, relying on what your heard like any common maid….
Of course, your reaction to hearing the news had been to disappear for three full days without telling anyone where you’d gone. Then you’d done exactly what Wil had, showing back up at the training camp on the fourth day and finding him helplessly trying to train himself. You’d picked up your sword and started a new session with him, ignoring his questioning stare as though nothing had happened, and knowing perfectly well that everything had happened.
….So much for dropping the act and letting your guard down, eh?
---------✨✨✨✨✨✨ ---------
So, yeah. All things considered, you could say you and Wil had been ‘close’. But that had all drastically changed now. Especially since the news of the wedding had just been made official that very morning. Exactly two weeks after that drunk night.
Despite your better judgement a little part of you had still held onto hope that Wil would say something to you - anything at all, at this point - when he would show up for training that day. But once again he had appeared and pretended as though nothing was wrong. Not a single word on Amberle, the wedding, or the two of you. That was when you’d decided you’d had enough playing nice with him. And you were not about to forgive him for any of it.
The sound of Wil’s sword clanging noisily against yours abruptly pulls you back to the present moment.
“Careful, Captain,” he warns, flashing you a cocky grin, “Looks like you’re the one losing focus now.”
You scoff, waiting for him to pause for just a moment to catch his breath and immediately launching forward with a frustrated battle cry, swinging your sword fiercely at him. You both pick up the pace, exchanging one blow after the other as you pace around the arena. You’re both glistening with sweat by now, but you’re not about to give up. Suddenly you hear a loud rustling of leaves just above you and you instinctively look up, startled by the noise. It’s just a large bird leaving its nest. But just as you realise you’ve made a big mistake, Wil charges forward. In a flash he delivers a masterful blow that knocks your sword out of your hand. Then he grabs your forearm and twists you around. Before you can blink you find yourself with your back pressed against him as he holds you firmly into place.
“Never lower your guard.” He mocks you with your own words, whispering in your ear, and you can feel him smile against your skin, “…I thought you said it shows your weakness.” He drags out the last word, mercilessly taunting you as he chuckles under his breath… and then, he dares to give your ear a little nip, followed by a soft kiss.
That’s the last drop.
Gathering all your strength, you grab onto his arm and lunge forward with a swift motion, yelling out as you lift him right off his feet and send him tumbling in the air. The unexpected move catches him completely off guard and he finds himself flipped over and laying on his back, panting. He looks up at you, silhouetted against the sunlight. You’re also breathing heavily, but unlike him you’ve lost all trace of playfulness. How dare he. How dare he do this to you. After everything he’d already done. After keeping the wedding announcement from you. After confessing his stupid feelings that stupid drunk night. After everything. It’s just too much.
“Get the hell out of my camp,” you order through clenched teeth, “I’ve had enough of you.”
You can see the panic in his face as you spin around and storm off. You hear him scrambling back to his feet, the smugness evaporating from him faster than the sweat on his forehead as he calls your name out, desperately chasing after you.
You just keep walking. You’re done with all of this.
Done with the training. Done with the joking. Done with the lies. And most of all, absolutely, completely and definitely done with your stupid feelings for this stupid half Elf who had to come along and break your stupid heart.
You’re officially done with Will Ohmsford.
My Time
Pairing: Allanon x Reader
Words: 1103
Warnings: Mentions of blood
Summary: You are an angel from thousands of years before and you have returned when the threat of demons has become more than the current people can handle. You also have a connection with a certain druid there.
Allanon was standing by the throne respectfully, hands placed in front of him, waiting. Elf scouts had found a human girl they suspected was a rover, so they were bringing her to the throne room. The doors opened and the girl was brought in. She had a hood over her head and no one could see her face. They yanked her hood back to show her face. Allanon froze. He had had dreams about this girl while he was in the druid sleep. Dreams of her (h/c) hair and those (e/c) eyes. He had dreams of those lips against his as well. And he knew this was no human girl.
“Why were you trespassing in our land?” King Eventine asked.
The girl looked up at him. “Look, I know you think I’m a rover, but I swear to you that I’m not. I’m not an elf hunter, I’m not anything like that.”
“Then what exactly are you?”
The girl shook her head. “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“I know what you are, girl,” Allanon spoke up.
She looked over at the druid and grinned. “As I know what you are, druid.” She rattled her shackles. “If you let me go, I can show you what I am.”
“I’d rather not. Either tell me what you are or I’ll have you thrown in the dungeons,” Eventine said. He was really not in a good mood.
The girl let out a deep sigh. “I’m an angel. My kind were once worshipped. I have decided that it is time that I come to earth and help you against these demons. I once fought them in my own time many thousands of years ago. Now, I suggest you have your men let me go before I let myself go.”
Eventine wasn’t sure what to do.
“I’m here to help. And I’m sure your druid friend can read my mind and tell you that what I say is true.” She cast her eyes over to Allanon. “I know you, druid. I’ve watched you over your lifetime. I know you can read my mind.”
Allanon shut his eyes and let himself into her mind. He saw her then, mighty silver and black wings allowing her to fly through the sky. She had a sword in her hands, dripping with black blood. Demons lay around her, all dead, and others were coming at her. She swung at them, none of them landing a single blow. Her wings would wrap around her at times, shielding her from the chaos. He saw other angels in her mind, fighting off demons. He pulled back from her mind and opened his eyes. She was smirking up at him.
“She tells the truth,” Allanon said. “I would suggest letting her go. She knows something about these demons we may not.”
Eventine nodded and gestured for the guards to release her. She rubbed her wrists once the shackles were gone and bowed to the king. “I do hope we can work together. I did not mean any disrespect towards you. I do believe introductions are needed. My name is (y/n). I am the twin sister of the angel that first created demons. I wish to end these demons once and for all.”
“You know who created these demons?” Eventine asked in shock.
“Unfortunately, yes. I killed him many thousand years ago, but his demons live on. I wish to get rid of them all.”
“Then we shall gladly accept your help.”
She bowed. “Now, if you don’t mind, is there a place I can let my wings out and rest for a while?” she asked.
Eventine had his guards take her to a room where she sat for a moment. She let her wings out from her back. They ached and were sore from being hidden for so long without being stretched. She stood up and popped her shoulders when a knock resounded on the door.
“You can come in,” she called in.
The door opened and Allanon entered. She knew why he was there. She had had the same dreams as he had. He stood for a moment admiring her wings unfurled in front of him. He had never seen anything like them before, so soft looking, yet from what he saw in her mind, were like a shield. He was so busy looking at them that he didn’t see that she was slowly getting closer until suddenly he was looking into her eyes.
“You’re here because of the dreams we share,” she whispered.
“Yes,” he said, his jaw clenching.
She reached up to touch his cheek, his beard scratching against her fingers. Visions flashed through her mind, visions both sweet and others sending heat through her body.
“I wish to know what they mean,” he said, taking her wrist in his hand.
“I know,” she whispered. “And I can tell you, but you may want to sit down for a moment.” She guided him to the bed and made him sit before she sat next to him, her wings folding up behind her. “This is going to sound really strange, at least in these times for I believe that this belief has been lost with the ancient humans. But, we are soulmates, something long since forgotten and lost unless you are a being that possess magic or abilities. You are my soulmate, as I am yours.”
Allanon simply stared at her with his deep brown eyes. He wasn’t sure what he should think about this, but it made sense for his dreams. “And how can you prove this?”
She let out a deep sigh and took his face in her hands, pulling his lips to hers. His beard was rough against her skin as her lips pressed against his. His hands moved on their own, one gripping her waist and the other pressing against her cheek. Electricity seemed to shoot through the two of them as their lips moved against each other. She pulled away from him and looked up at him. His eyes had remained shut for a moment before sliding open. “What you felt can only be felt by soulmates.”
He looked into her eyes and felt a deep connection with her. “Does this mean that we will die on the same day?”
“So you do know some things about soulmates.”
“I do know a few select things.” He smiled slightly, a sight she could get used to.
“Looks like we need to get to know one another if we are going to be soulmates and fighting a deadly demon army.”
He chuckled. “That may be a good idea.”
Lonely ghost who needs a friend.
The ruins showed great power, magic was freely flowing through all around the grounds. Somewhere deep down in the shadows had to be a hidden relict of long forgotten times and you were determined to find it. If you couldn't use it yourself than it would at least make a good price on the black market.
The stairs lead you down deeper into the darkness, the only source of light a torch in your hand that flickered dangerously. There shouldn't be any wind but even the flames dreaded this lonely place no living creature had walked on in many years. You had found the place purely on accident as well.
"Leave this place..." A voice in the dark whispers, " Leave! "
You spin around, terror written all over your face. Your heart seemed to be on the run as well because it was beating so fast it felt like it would jump out of your body any second.
But there was no one to be found, no trace of life or even a shadow other than your own. The place was empty and yet you had heard a voice as clear as day. Maybe this ruin was cursed after all of this quiet place was simply driving you insane.
In the end you didn't listen and went further in, making your way through the narrow passageways and small corridors. A loud sound took you by surprise but by then it was too late and the floor gave in beneath you, taking you down and the flame as well.
"I told you to leave." The voice cuts through complete darkness with a tone that didn't scare you anymore, now it was only making you angry.
" Well you could have said something before I fell in! "
"I did back there."
" I mean right before I fell, you...you complete idiot! "
Silence followed while you sat on the hard ground thinking of a way to get back up into the open. While the path down had been pretty straightforward you had no idea where you were now or how to get back up or if there even was another way to get out.
" What's your name? "
"None of your business."
"I'm Allanon." He says, ignoring your comment, " And you were pretty stupid to come down here. "
"You're just a ray of sunshine, aren't you?"
" I think I heard something like that in the past, though I doubt they meant it as sincere as you. " He replies sarcastically and you pout at his words because there was no way he could see you anyway.
"You're making an ugly face."
"…not..." You mumble, half of your sentence gone.
" Get up. " Allanon sighs, though his tone is still as commanding as ever. But it was still better than being completely alone and somehow you got used to it quite quickly.
"Why?"
" I'm leading you out... "
To your utter disbelief, Allanon managed to walk you through the darkness as if it was bright as day and he could see every corner. When the sunlight finally hit your eyes again, a wave of pure relief washed over you.
You turned around to thank your unusual saviour but no one was there, just l Iike before.
"Allanon?"
No answer. No movement anywhere.
"I didn't even get to say thanks..."
Just before you leave the woods surrounding the old ruin with its fallen down stone walls and empty halls, a voice whispers right next to you.
"…come by again."
The Last of the Fae
Summary: Allanon is acting strange and the reader is cross with him after what happens to Bandon.
Series: The Last of the Fae
AN: I’m not including characters in the series from now on because I can’t remember them all and well it’s kinda extra... The gif... She’s part of the story and I think this is actually after she was attacked...
Chapter Four
I ran to Allanon’s room, hoping to see him there, I caught him just as he was leaving.
“Allanon, thank god, the Changeling isn’t dead and is very much alive and wandering around Arborlon,” I say, slightly out of breath.
“I’ll let Eventine know when I next see him, and make sure he is more careful than he already is,” Allanon says and walks off. That was slightly odd, but okay. I think and decided to take a break from everything for a short while, desperately needing some alone time.
Time Skip
I had fallen asleep and was being awoken by Allanon. His face was grim and I knew something bad had happened.
“What’s happened?” I ask, dreading the answer.
“It’s Bandon. You need to come with me now,” He replied, and grabbed my hand and began to lead me to where Bandon was.
I could only follow after him, as he wouldn’t tell me what he had done. When we got to the room, I saw Bandon laying on the bed, just breathing. Something was very off, all he was doing was breathing, but I could sense something was wrong with him. I turn and look at Allanon, who was trying to avoid looking at me.
“What happened? What did you do?” I ask, stepping in front of him, to make sure he looked me in the eyes when he gave his answer. He finally looked at me, and I could see the regret in his eyes.
“I had him try and communicate through the Ellcrys, to get to Amberle, but then his eyes turned black and he collapsed after I got his hand off of the tree,” he replies. You stare at him for a moment before you turn to Bandon, because you cannot look at him at the moment.
“Why? Why would you do this after I explicitly told you that Bandon didn’t need to be involved in any of this? Did you even think to consider the consequences of what would happen?” I ask loudly, having turned to face him in the middle of your small speech. I crossed my arms, in fear that I might hit him if I didn’t.
He sighs, then, “Yes, I considered most of them, and I did not believe that this would, or even could happen. I swear, I didn’t want him to be harmed.”
“Yeah, well he’s hurt, thanks to you,” I say, and go sit next to where Bandon lies.
Allanon left the room for a brief time, and I grabbed Bandon’s hand, seeing if I could possibly heal him, or do anything at all.
I reached deep within me and call up on the magic of old. I pour the magic into Bandon to try and bring him back. I sensed darkness when I walked into the room and now I can feel it in him.
My magic battles the darkness in Bandon and I was able to relinquish most of it but I couldn’t take it all out, the darkness in him was almost as strong as the magic I held within me. I could’ve banished it all but I was too tired to do anymore.
I move onto the bed to lay next to Bandon so that I wouldn’t get a knot in my neck when I fall asleep.
When I woke next, it was to the sound of screams. I jumped up and saw Allanon and Bandon with pitch black eyes. Allanon was holding Catania by the neck.
I focus my magic and send a wave of light towards them, removing the demon’s hold on them. Allanon let go of Catania and stumbled a bit, while Bandon fell off the bed. Then, Arion came in and looked around the room.
“Take Catania with you and tell your father that the changeling is not dead,” I instruct Arion.
“I’ll tell him right away,” he says taking Catania with him.
I looked back to the other two in the room. “What happened to him?” I look to Allanon.
“The Dagda Mor has taken his soul,” he responded, placing Bandon back on the bed.
“That’s why I can’t restore him,” I say out loud. “I can’t vanquish the darkness because the darkness has taken him to a place I hardly go.”
“What do you mean?” Allanon looked to me.
“The Dagda Mor is strong but I’m stronger because I have the magic of the fae and that of darkness,” I start to explain. “Essentially it is possible for me to get Bandon’t soul back but I must be in a place that I can be undisturbed yet still have ties to magic,” I start pacing the room, Allanon’s eyes on my every movement. “It’ll take a toll on me and I must be in my true form so it can work,” I finish.
“Where is your magic strongest?” he inquires.
“Near the Ellcrys, the Druid Cave was also a good spot for me,” I answered.
“We can’t have you near the Ellcrys but you can take Bandon with you to the Druid Cave and do what needs to be done,” he determined.
“What about you?” I walked a little closer to him and grab his hand. “I can feel the darkness in you, let me help you,” I said about to let my magic flow into him.
“No,” he reclaimed his hand. “I can fight off the Dagda Mor on my own,” he said.
“But you don’t have to,” I looked at him with hopeful eyes.
“You need your magic to heal Bandon. You should not waste it on me,” he said with no room for argument. “Get ready to leave when night arrives, I will get everything set and talk with Eventine,” he walked out the room not even letting me say anything.
Black Waves (part 2)
pairing: Allanon x Reader
fandom: the shannara chronicles
You had been walking for hours now, passed at least two villages and went back into the forest again. There was nothing to say about a long stroll through the woods, listening to the birds sing in the sky and smell the fresh, clean forest air but this was starting to get brutal. Allanon didn't even seem to bother, he still looked like you had just started your journey.
"So, what exactly does that fancy stone of yours do?"
"You don't know? Didn't you use it."
" I did but that was an accident. " You try to keep up with him as you talk, hoping the promise of nightfall will keep him from going any further soon.
"It negates magic. All kinds of it."
"…You're a druid right?"
He stops his movements for a moment, looking around to search for something only he could see, "Yes. I'm also extremely good with a sword, in case you were wondering."
" Of course you are. " That message was clear, so no using the stone on him unless you wanted to have something very sharp sticking out of you.
"We rest here for the night." Allanon points to one of the huge trees covering the area. It wasn't overly open, surrounded by bushes and safe from the cold winds that had begun to blow. It was still just a tree though and it was the beginning of autumn, a bed had been nicer.
" Couldn't we have stayed in one of the villages. " You say grumpily, eying the place sceptically.
"We could have." Is all he says before sitting down against the trunk of the tree.
-
You had drifted off in an uneasy sleep, craving some warmth that could not be found. Little shivers ran through your body whenever the comfort of the surrounding nature wasn't enough and a cold blow managed to slip through.
But suddenly there it was, a warm salvation in the dark of night. You cuddled closer to it, arms wrapped around tightly not to lose it again. Sleep came easier after that and you woke up well rested the next morning.
-
Blinking a few times to shake off the remaining drowsiness, you finally open your eyes only to find yourself lying cuddled up against Allanon, head in his lap and arms tightly wrapped around his waist. No wonder it had been so warm and comfy, though now this was anything but. Without trying to wake him you move your arms away, slowly shifting away.
"Did you sleep well." Allanon asks, sarcasm dripping from his voice. His eyes were still closed and he appeared as calm as always, no wonder you had thought him asleep. He had probably been awake for a while now.
"I am very well rested indeed." This was more than a little embarrassing but what made situations like this even worse was admitting it, so you did what worked best most of the time and just tried to flirt your way out of it, " How about you? "
Smirking, you roll over and sit up only to move closer to him, fingers slowly drawing patterns along his chest. There sure was no denying his attractiveness, Allanon was just so...stiff all the time.
" Don't play with fire... " He catches your wrist in his hand, stopping your movements completely "…if you're not ready to get burned."
Black Waves (part 1)
pairing: Allanon x Reader
fandom: the shannara chronicles
@whenimaunicorn
Footsteps echoed off the walls outside the hall, coming closer and closer. Allanon walked past the flames that illuminated these dark corridors, making them flicker with every step he took forward.
His mood was grim, he had his duties to fulfil yet here he was, summoned by the king to do his bidding.
The doors opened, a screeching sound like a demon hiding in the darkness. The king wasted no time once he saw the druid entering his throne room.
"We found it. The black elfstone."
Allanon blinked a few times, partly to adjust to the brightness in the room but more because he had been surprised. Maybe his journey hadn't been so pointless after all.
"Give it to me."
The king hesitated a moment before he spoke, "There is a problem."
-
The sun was shining brightly, not too hot or cold just right to enjoy the day outside. You sat at the table outside, eyes closed to feel the warm sunrays on your skin and the gentle breeze blowing through your hair. Life could be so perfect, if only…
You huff, opening your eyes with a tilt of your head, "You guys should really wear a little less, must get hot in all this armour."
No answer. Ever since they had found out about the damn black stone you hadn't been allowed to leave the village. Worst part was they never talked, just stood there silently and watched.
"No? Suit yourselves, it's not my funeral."
The nice chat you had was rudely interrupted when a fist slammed down on the table, almost making you fall off the chair. You were met with a face that screamed murder. At least he was radiating a lot of anger, apparently at you.
"You touched them?" The man roared, "Not only did you touch them, you used the black elfstones. What did you think?"
He was clearly pissed but your diplomatic skills severely lacked for you to be able to handle this conversation civilly. You were not even sure you wanted that. All of this had been a huge misunderstanding in the first place. If he wanted the damn stone, he was more than welcome to have it. It hadn't brought you anything good and these guards needed to go as far away as possible.
"I thought that I didn't want to die when I got attacked by a huge ass demon." You retort in an equally pissed voice, "I touched it so what? Using this damn stone was never part of the plan. I don't even want it anymore, so take it and leave."
"I am afraid that won't happen. You'll come with me to Paranor where we'll hand over the black elfstone."
"I'm sure you can handle that yourself, big guy."
You didn't think it possible but his mood seemed to get worse by the second, his face the image of your scolding mother whenever you had failed to do your duties.
"I could have, if someone hadn't been so stupid to use the stone. You're its owner now and you will remain so unless you want me to end your life right now."
You opened your mouth to speak, decide against it in the last moment and shrug your shoulders, "Good point."
"I thought so."
He could have this victory. There was no need for defiance right now. Opportunities are created on the way and you were the best at using them. No way this guy could catch you once you entered the forest, you need it like the inside of your own house.
"Hey kid, keep your hands to yourself."
"How rude. You make me sound like a pervert, old man. Shouldn't I be the worried one? All alone on the road with a strong, handsome guy…" Your voice was slowly drawling out, getting deeper as your fingers move along his chest and play with his shirt.
His laugh is a low, rumbling sound, "You are a pervert." He takes your hands in his and moves them away, down to your sides, "Your sweet little voice won't work on me."
With a heavy sigh you pick up your things from the side off the road, neatly packed into a little bundle and follow behind Allanon as he keeps moving along. The day was almost over and it was getting dark. Not a good idea to be out here on the streets at night in this part of the land.
"It's almost winter, you know. Getting really cold, especially at night. We should spend our time close together while we sleep. Just to…" You take a short moment to find some half-hearted convincing words, "…keep ourselves warm and not die."
"Mhh, really?"
Allanon was smirking to himself as he kept walking in front of you. Your constant flirting didn't bother him as much as he made you believe. It was more cute than annoying and quite flattering. He had thought about it on more than one occasion, being constantly tempted did that to most people.
"We wait here for the night." Allanon points at one of the empty barns near the road.
"Fine by me…" You lick your lips and stride along in front of him, swaying your hips on purpose. Another night, another try.
Perfect Opportunities
pairing: Allanon x Reader
fandom: the shannara chronicles
warnings: smut
@nekodemon73 @kumpmk @un-education @bookswillfindyouaway @whenimaunicorn
By nature, Druids were secretive and kept to thenselves. Allanon was no exception to that, or maybe he was. You didn't know. He was the last of his kind, had been for a very long time. Could be that it had been different a long time ago but nowadays he kept to himself and avoided contact with people as much as possible.
Allanon was an old friend of your father. You had met him the first time when you were younger and while he seemed to be a tad rude and domineering, you instantly felt drawn to the handsome man.
Sadly that feeling wasn't reciprocated, not really at least. You could tell that he wasn't entirely uninterested but no matter what you did to get his attention he wouldn't budge and give in to your flirtations.
You had been at your wits end when the perfect opportunity came along. A mission where you actually could be of use to him and you obviously jumped at the chance to be alone with him, out in the wilderness. As expected Allanon wasn't as eager to bring you along but you summoned all the charm you could muster and convinced both your father and Allanon to let you come.
When the time to finally leave came you couldn't have been happier. You were sure your enthusiasm couldn't be dimmed by anything but the whole day walking without much talking from his side quickly changed that. There had to be something to get that stuck up man relax for a bit. No one could be that grumpy and tense all the time. It had to be physically impossible.
"Allanon? It's getting dark, shouldn't we rest some where?" It was also getting really cold and you would have loved to snuggle against him and feel his arms around you in a warm embrace. “There's a cave up ahead, we'll take shelter there. It should be fine for the night.”
At first the thought of sending your night in a dark, cold, wet cave hadn't been that great. On second thought though…this could be the start of something really good. You look over to where Allanon leans against the wall, his eyes closed. He didn't seem so tense anymore, almost at peace. You couldn't help but let your eyes wander down his body and picture the sight beneath all these clothes. If you were sure of one thing than it was that he wouldn't disappoint. Sometimes reality is much sweeter than imagination. Those big hands and long fingers could do all sorts of things to you… "Are you alright?" He had opened his eyes, which were now focused on you. Your breathing must have gotten a lot heavier, so much that it caught his attention. You had also leaned quite a bit in his direction and started fumbling with the hem of your dress.
Deciding that enough was enough, you get up and sit back down right next to him. So close that there barely was any room to move left. "Allanon…" You whisper in a sweet voice, licking your lips as you let your hands wander up and down his thighs. “You know that's not possible. I can't.” "Yes you can." “I won't be able to stay with you.” You knew what he said was true but you didn't care. If all you got of him was that one night you'd accept that.
Your hands move slowly upwards, playing with the buttons of his trousers. You palm him through the fabric, feeling his erection harder under your touch. When you pull down his underwear and start licking his cock, all he can do is groan at the feeling of your tongue against his throbbing member. He had done all he could but if you weren't going to listen, he might as well teach you a lesson. "Hold still, no pulling back now." His deep voice shook you right to the core, doing nothing to ease the burning desire. You were still surprised when he takes your head and pushes you down all the way, making you choke and frantically gasp for air that wouldn't come. You try to relax and regain your composure as he snaps his hips up, sitting the back of your throat with every movement. The feeling was somewhat uncomfortable but you savoured every last bit of it nontheless.
Deciding that you had enough, he pulls out of your mouth, flips you onto your stomach with your dress scrunched up and gives you one hard slap to your ass. "Is this what you wanted?" There was this wanton need in your voice that you just couldn't control as you breath out a moany "Yes…"
The moment he enters you, you feel your walls stretch around him to accomandate to his length. You were already so close that he left you a whimpering mess with his first thrust and you had to bite your lip to stop the mewling sounds you started to make. His hands held your hips in a painful grip, smacking your cheeks every few thrusts until your rear had a burning red colour and you almost jumped at the painful touch. He keeps hammering into you from behind, his heavy brething mixing with your own and the moaning sounds of your hitting orgasm as you cum with his fingers circling your clit. He keeps moving, letting you enjoy the pleasure as long as possible, as long as he can hold back. When you finally start to relax under him he follows you, releasing his seed as he slaps you one last time and bites down into your shoulder with a loud groan.
