The man approached the door and knocked a few times. As he waited for the girl inside to answer, he shifted on his feet. No response. Glancing down at his hand, he opened it and looked at the large black numbers that Chishiya had written there, in Sharpie marker, of course. Those were going to be there for a while.

He closed his hand into a fist and knocked again, this time harder. Where was this chick? He had been following her all morning until she went back to her room. Just like Chishiya told him to. She didn’t leave the room, he was sure of it.

“Wait for her in the dining hall. After she finishes breakfast, follow her back to her room. Wait 30 minutes. Knock. When she answers, tell her I would like to see her in my room and that you will be escorting her. Bring her here. Can you do that, Oaf?”

Chishiya’s words- which he had said as he etched the numbers on Todd’s palm with the thick black marker- echoed in his head. He had done exactly what Chishiya told him to. Wait. Why did Chishiya call him Oaf? His name was Todd. Did Chishiya mean to send some guy named Oaf? Shit. Shitshitshit…

He was starting to sweat. If the girl had somehow left the room, Chishiya would…well, Todd would probably end up with a broken hand that had numbers written on it.

Just then the door opened in front of him and he jumped.

2.01 — a reunion at last

GAME START

“Is.. something supposed to happen?” He muttered, his one still good eye glancing around the empty area. He winced as his hand reached up to brush against the still bleeding scar, and frowned. He needed to get this cleaned up, as soon as possible.

Hinata couldn’t even start to process what was happening next. Cars surrounded them, and at first Hinata had thought that it was the game.. but then he realized that he recognized those cars. It was the rest of the.. surviving beach members.

The remaining people who had survived the massacre that was the 10 of hearts. His heart ached at the thought.. but he wasn’t able to dwell on it long before suddenly one of the beach members were riddled with bullets. And then another.

“That’s an Anti-Tank rifle so—“ Chishiya has spoken up next to him, hands in his pockets as he started walking back. But the white haired male was interrupted by the car exploding next to the two, “..I’d forget about hiding behind cars”

As people ran— as his friends ran, Hinata just froze. His legs stopped working , and his eyes had been trailed on where the gunshots were coming from

He knew he needed to get out of there

Knew that if he wanted to keep survive, he needed to turn around and get the fuck away from whoever was shooting at him

But did he want to keep going?

Aguni had told him to live for him and Takeru. To keep Aisaka safe and make sure they made it out. But Hinata didn’t even know if Aisaka had made it. He hadn’t seen the younger girl since the chaos started. Since before Aguni had deemed everyone as the witches.

Someone grabbed his wrist, and before he could turn and question who it was— the person pulled him along. Hinata felt his legs wanting to give out, but he kept up. Following after the mysterious person. He couldn’t quite tell who it was yet.. he was still getting used to seeing with one eye.. and admist all the chaos it was hard.

For what felt like forever, the two ran. Ran until they found a forest. That’s when Hinata’s mysterious savior stopped and pulled her hand away. Hinata pants softly, putting his hands on his thighs for a second and caught his breath. He stood up, brushing himself up and turning to finally take a good look at whoever saved him and—

“Aisaka?” He breathed out, eye widening as he finally recognized who had grabbed him. He immediately wrapped his arms around the younger girl and held her close, putting a hand on the back of her head and the other holding her waist. It the way Aguni used to hug him, and what usually comforted him. So it was natural that he did the same for her. “Oh my gods.. I’m so glad you’re okay—“ he got out, before pulling away

He cups her cheeks and immediately started making sure she didn’t have any injuries. He didn’t even care about his own right now.

Two Alices in a very mad world (AiB x Alice Madness Returns fanart)

(Order of reading is first Arisu's lines, then Kukki's. uwu)

OOC: And, after 36 hours of work spread across a span of almost two weeks, it is finally done! My entry for @all-mad-hare's AiB community event! Gosh, I feel like this was never ending, but eventually I managed to finish it in time!

So, about the artwork itself: my partner for the event was @arisuthegamer, so I had to make an Alice in Wonderland inspired thing featuring Arisu. Since one of the accepted versions of the Alice in Wonderland adaptations was Alice Madness Returns (one of my favorite horror games for it's grungy and gothic dark fantasy aesthetic) I decided to use that as my AU of choice for the artwork. All was left to do afterwards was to think of a concept for what I wanted to do and I could get to work.

I settled on doing a mini-comic because I wanted to draw Kukki too playing Alice (since the MC's weapon of choice is a blade and Kukki loves knives too and the game also contains heavily psychological themes, so the role fits her like a glove) and I thought it would be hilarious having Arisu actually interacting with someone to give a context and story for the thing as well: Kukki and Arisu play together the game and I thought it would be hilarious to feature both of them wearing Alice's dresses (Kukki wears the OG dress from the beginning of the game, while Arisu wears the dress corresponding to the last stage of the game/last boss).

Since Alice is always featured accompanied by the Cheshire Cat, I thought it would be cool to add this detail too, with a little twist to it. So, there we have Chishiya as the Cheshire cat (or the Cheshire cat as Chishiya 🤭). And since @heartsking is going through a rough period, I decided to give the main dedication of this little bonus Chishiya addition to them! <3

A second dedication for the bonus Chishiya cameo goes also to @cheshire-shuntaro, who has shown me their support in those bad times. Thank you my friend! 🥰
