Hell-Hound

Two demons lurked in companionable silence as the sun slowly crept across the sky, and as the sun began to lower, the quality of the light within the necropolis began to change.

“What’s going on?” Crowley wondered. “Are we getting a message?”

“Not exactly though I suppose to those watching, this could be interpreted as a message. It is merely that what we have been waiting for,” Asmodeus replied, setting his hand on Crowley’s shoulder.

The ground began to rumble, a low bass sound that was just beyond hearing but not beyond feeling, and a moment later the ground cracked open and a jagged black shadow appeared, scrabbling out of the tomb of the earth beneath it as the ground slowly closed behind it.

The creature shook off loose earth and detritus from its body and Crowley recognized it as a hell-hound. The beast lifted a paw to stride forward, but before it could move it began to change, its body growing larger, its legs elongating. Bones and sinews and muscles twisting, cracking and breaking and reforming and Crowley felt his breath choke up in his throat all at once in horror, knowing what that feeling was like, that sensation of a body changing to conform to-

And a moment later, a tall black yearling foal reared up, hot saliva dripping from its slavering jaws. It pranced forward, tossing its head, and Crowley saw that upon its left flank was mottled dark auburn mark, something that looked like a wolf with a…

“Uh, so are horses supposed to have pointy teeth?” Crowley pointed up at the horse, confused.

“This one does,” Asmodeus smiled. “Though it seems that they did not feed it before sending it up to me. I suppose they did not think that far ahead. The limitations of reality always adds complications that are not thought of Downstairs. Well, that can be arranged. It is in part why I chose this place.”

At a gesture from the Prince of Hell, the stones and earth that covered a fresh grave parted, revealing a shrouded form. The horse-shaped hell-hound bounded forward, tail wagging, as it bit into the relatively fresh corpse with earnest, droplets of congealing blood flying.

“Oh,” Crowley said, completely reasonably, as he ducked gobbets of flesh, scraps of a mourning shroud, and bits of cracked bone. “That’s...good thinking, lord. Really strategic, probably wouldn’t do to have it eating people on the way to the palace, someone would notice...with all the screaming and tearing apart that is.”

“Yes. Best that the humans don’t know. Though I wonder if this will give it a taste for human flesh from now on. That could be difficult. But it is a problem for Alexander and not something that we will have to deal with. Once he names the hell-hound and gives it a purpose, it will be out of our hands.” Asmodeus tossed Crowley a bridle, of a crimson leather the color of clotted blood, nearly black, embroidered in gold with stylized serpents. “Put that on it and let us go, we need to get ready to go to a party.”

Crowley looked over at the transformed hell-hound, a creature who was nearly the same height as Crowley and who turned a wild, rolling eye at the demon, rearing up from its mostly disemboweled and definitely mangled meal, sharp hooves slicing through the air.

Donald Duck as Napoleon Bonaparte, Scrooge McDuck as Gaius Julius Caesar and Louie Duck (Quack Pack) as Alexander the Great - Conquerors - Real Ducks in History - History in Duckverse

I've always wanted to do a special project called Duckverse in History and my plan is to draw my favorite characters as redraws from famous works of art as well as famous historical figures. And since history is my favorite science, and my favorite field, I definitely wanted to do something related to it and related to one of my favorite historical characters. Since I don't want to complicate the situation, I will gradually publish a drawing related to that historical figure from time to time. I started this last year for Duckvember only to finish at the end of last month.

The first drawing is a redraw from Jacques Louis David's famous early 19th century artwork depicting Napoleon Bonaparte crossing the Alps in 1800 before the Battle of Marengo. Napoleon Bonaparte was the most famous French military leader, general, consul and emperor who waged war with all of Europe at the time and managed to subjugate it in its entirety except for the Ottoman Empire, Russia and Great Britain. He is from Corsica, but he left a lot for France and proved that France is not worth messing with easily. He also gave many reforms and his Civil Code which spread throughout Europe and brought order in France after the French Revolution. Napoleon's nature is very similar to Donald Duck and I drew Donald as Napoleon since he was created for that role and I drew him riding his horse Marengo in my own style, but in a realistic way and that Donald has five fingers.

The second drawing is a redraw of a statue made by Nicolas Coustou at the end of the 17th century for the decoration of Versailles, which depicts the greatest Roman, Gaius Julius Caesar. Although he was not an emperor, certainly many presented him, but he was a dictator, consul, general, writer, historian, engineer, constructor, and a great military leader who changed the Roman Republic into an almost Roman Empire. His fights against the Gauls, as well as the conflict with Pompey and his love with Cleopatra, are known, but he also changed a lot in Rome and was extremely rich. And he lived during the first century BC. That's why I drew Scrooge McDuck as Gaius Julius Caesar since Scrooge is a great leader and he also strived for fame and fortune and to be remembered in the future and he plays the role of the best Roman. Behind it are the Colosseum (built a century after him), the aqueduct (then irrigation) and the Pantheon (built two centuries after him), as well as a Roman temple that symbolizes Rome at that time, as well as the roads themselves. In addition, Topolino (Italian comics) are showed Scrooge as Caesar two or three times so that's where my inspiration came from.

The third drawing shows Louie Duck (the Quack Pack version, not the Ducktales reboot) shows Alexander the Great, another brilliant conqueror from the fourth century BC and I drew it as a redraw from the mosaic of Alexander the Great from the battle of Issus in which he confronts the Persian king Darius III from Pompeii, probably from the first century BC. Alexander the Great was the son of Philip II and the king of Macedonia who united Greece and fought against Persia and managed to conquer an entire empire in his twenties. He traveled through the Persian Empire and reached India and wanted to continue, but his soldiers did not want to continue, so he returned to Babylon, his new capital. He certainly changed the world at that time and introduced a new culture, called Hellenism, as a combination of ancient Greek culture and the culture of the Ancient East and ancient India. I drew Louie as Alexander because as a young man he is a great adventurer and rides his black horse Bucephalus and is eager for extremes, yet unlike Alexander, Louie shows a bit of his shyness, but is still brave enough to take on new challenges. I also added a helmet as worn by Alexander III in his time. Behind Louie are the pyramids from Egypt, the Ishtar Gate from Babylon and the imperial palace from Persepolis where the Persian rulers lived and it actually shows the lands that Alexander the Great conquered.

I certainly hope you like these drawings and these ideas and that these characters have such historical roles. Of course, Duckverse in history I combine mostly everything related to Duckverse (Donald Duck comics, OG Ducktales, Three Caballeros, Darkwing Duck and Quack Pack) and it's mostly my version and my idea. Do you do anything for Alexander’s birthday or remembrance (death) day?

I often wind up forgetting the day he died. It was this past Monday in fact, and I only just remembered (with this question). Also, while we date it as June 10th, it was probably the 11th or so. IF the story about the body not immediately decaying is correct (and there are reasons to doubt it), then he may have been "all-but-dead" on the 10th, but not fully dead--until the embalmers got a hold of him.

As for his birthday, I mostly spend the 19th of July reminding folks it WAS the 19th of July, in 356. Again, this assumes the 6th of Loos is correct, and once more, there are reasons to doubt that date. But if it's right, then in 356, 6 days after the midsummer new moon would have been July 19th. It's typically listed as the 20th because that date would fall on the 20th most years, but as they kept a lunar calendar, it could vary.

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY TO THE SWEETEST AND CUTEST LITTLE MAN, HRH PRINCE GEORGE ALEXANDER LOUIS OF WALES (B. 22 JULY 2013) ♡

On 22 July 2013, Prince George was born to Catherine and William, then known as Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in St Mary's Hospital, at 16:24 BST weighing 8 pounds and 6 ounces. He was born during the reign of his paternal great-grandmother Elizabeth II and is the first child and eldest of Will & Cat.

The little prince's name was announced on 24 July as George Alexander Louis. George is one of his paternal grandfather King Charles’ middle names and was the regnal name of Queen Elizabeth's beloved father Albert. Alexander is the masculine version of Queen Elizabeth's middle name Alexandra and was also Catherine's top choice for a baby boy's name. Louis is in honour of his 3rd-great-uncle Earl Mountbatten of Burma - Louis, his father - Prince William and King Charles.

Georgie was was christened by the archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, on 23 October, in the Chapel Royal in St. James' Palace.

George spent the first few months of his life in Anglesey, Wales, before his family relocated to Kensington Palace in 2014. They’re called shoot from the hip (sfth) and are @shootimpro on youtube, tiktok, instagram, facebook, x/twitter, as well as on linktree, patreon and ko-fi.

They’re London based but have done shows outside london like in Scotland (Edinburgh Fringe) and even to Spain. They want to hopefully go to other countries in the future too!!

Ok so they do improvised comedy and their shows have two halves (generally with a break in the middle) they play lots of short drama games in the first half and then improvise 20-30 minute (on average) plays in the second half, sometimes with another game at the end.

The plays are so much fun (they’ve got 38 of them up on youtube so far!!) and they’ve also released two full specials (full shows) which you can find on their channel :)

(just a note that for a few of the older ones (apart from the first one) they were filming on an iphone and just projecting their voices, the the audio and image quality can be hard to deal with)

they have SO MUCH CONTENT because during covid they did zoom-style improv shows with eachother and you can watch them as a patreon

they also have SO MANY VIDEOS that are just the regular public ones!!!! They upload short ones of the games and some 5-10min ones of the games too, as well as the long forms (plays)
