- albedo's moving castle

albedo x reader // howl's moving castle au // gn!reader // lowercase intended // not proofread // word count: 896

a/n: i guess you can see this as a part 2 to my aladddin!aether one-shot but its albedo and howl. howl's moving castle is my comfort movie and I've been having a hard time recently so sorry if its a little self-indulgent. oh yeah and klee is markl

after albedo's tantrum in the main room, you and klee being her older brother to the bathroom to wash the green goop off of his body. a while has p[assed since that commotion and you were walking up the stairs in the so-called "castle" to bring him some warm milk. knocking on his door and announcing your entrance you enter his bedroom.

walking into his room to see the wizard calmly lying on his back, you look around a little more to see all sorts of 'thingamabobs' and 'whatchumacallits' littered around the walls and floors and even some in the bed he was laying on.

"i brought you some warm milk, want a sip?" you asked as he shook his head in response, a light ringing noise plays as his head moves. "ill leave it here for you then. try to drink it before it gets cold." you placed the cup of milk on the small table filled with the same trinkets as seen when you first entered.

as you were about to leave the room and give him some privacy you heard him call out to you "[name], wait" closing the door you were just about to walk through, you walk back to albedo and asks again if he wanted the milk, to which he shook his head once again.

taking a seat at his bedside, you hear a faint twinkling coming from one of his gadgets. albedo tilts his upwards and speaks: "the witch of the waste is trying to find my castle." you sigh as you remember what happened today at the day market, "i saw her henchmen at the harbour."

albedo shifts his eyes away from you, "I'm such a big coward, all i do i hide. and all of this magic is just to keep everybody away" he belittles himself, turning his whole head away from you this time, closing his eyes as well, "i can't stand how scared i am"

you pitied him, one of the world's most powerful wizards saw himself not as a great sorcerer, but as a coward. you decided to not comment on this as you asked him another question "albedo. why is the witch of the waste trying to hunt you down?"

turning his head up to the ceiling, he answered said question, "she was once quite beautiful so i decided to pursue her." he paused for a second. "then i realized she wasn't, so as usual i ran away" 'beautiful huh..' you mentally sighed as your body leaned back into the chair. howl continued:

"i can't run much longer though i have to report to the palace, as both charlatan and kreideprinz" "how may alias' do you have anyway?" you asked him, wondering how he deals with so many fake identities, "as many as i need to keep my freedom" he nonchalantly replied.

"can't you just refuse the king's invitation?" you stated. albedo replied with a slight shake of his head, pointing to various sharp objects pierced on a dartboard. the "darts" were holing up a contract of sorts. "see that..?" you nod to show that you are listening, "...that's the oath i took when i entered the royal sourcery academy. i must report to the palace whenever summoned"

an idea pops into your head "you know albedo, i think that you should see the king!" albedo looks at you with disbelief, muttering a small "what" under his breath. you continue "give him a piece of your mind, tell him this war is pointless! and you refuse to take part huh?" albedo rolls his eyes as a cold stare appears on his face, "you obviously don't know what these people are like"

"but he's out king? he should want to hear what all his citizens have to say." a brief silence fills the room before albedo breaks it with a loud gasp, as he quickly sits up to look at you, as his dark hair flows slowly behind him. "i got it! why don't you go to the palace for me?" now it's your turn to look at him in disbelief, as albedo leans closer and closer to you, a look of excitement clearly gracing his delicate features.

"just say that you're kreideprinz's guardian! and that your son is a cowardly wizard, he's too afraid to show his face! maybe then madame solomon would finally give up on me!" you blink twice, before asking him who this so-called 'madame solomon' was.

you hastily put on your hat as albedo stands in front of you, covered in a blanket. "you're wearing that hat? after all the magic i used to make your clothes pretty?" ignoring his question, you turn to klee as you tell her to take care of her brother. she responds with a nod. as you were about to leave the door, albedo holds your left hand and slips a silver ring on your pointer finger.

"this charm will guarantee your safe return" he whispers into your ear as you look back at him. "don't worry," he reassures you, "i'll follow behind you in disguise" he opens the door in front of you and says "now, off you go." you walk outside as the door closes behind you. you stop walking to look down at the ring on your finger. you sigh

"why do i feel like this is not going to work?"

He’s so SOCIALLY AWARE about cultural incompetence and appropriation!!! He appreciates black brown and Asian communities so fucking much and it’s like, yes!! FINALLY!! He also has so many Roe v Wade posters BECAUSE HE BELIEVES ABORTION IS A HUMAN FUCKING RIGHT‼️‼️‼️‼️ he talked about how rock and roll is literally from Black women, a church sister moved really fast on her guitar and BAM ROCK AND ROLL and he outright admitted that white people appropriated the heck out of it and made it a “white thing” 😨

Since he’s half Filipino, he has this fish hook (?) necklace and tattoo because it honors his leadership. And he said when people ask him “omg u have a Maui necklace” he feels bad because his culture is reduced to a cartoon character!!! And I made so many connections with him in terms of cultural disrespect. I said that it’s sort of like jasmine bc I said “when I complain that there’s no south Asian representation in media someone and their mother has to tell me ‘what about jasmine/Aladdin’ these media are never culturally accurate. Bc aladddin is literally made of Turk, Desi, and Arabic culture mixed in to one to give white people “ a taste of south Asians 😜😍” and I said that and he was like “RIGHT, ITS SO FRUSTRATING BEING REDUCED TO SOMETHING THATS NOT CULTURALLY ACCURATE.” AND I WAS LIKE?! Movie League 2019 Week 4

Aladdin became the number one movie this weekend surpassing the expectations of many while doing so. Even though critics didn’t love the movie it proved popular with audiences and estimates kept increasing all weekend, eventually finishing with a total of $91,500,929. Brightburn and Booksmart didn’t fare quite as well and opened in fifth and sixth respectively. Brightburn finished the weekend with $7,845,658 while Booksmart came in just under 7M. Although Booksmart had the lowest box office it finished with the highest RT score of the weekend with 97% taking over for John Wick 3 as the new RT high. Brightburn and Aladddin came in at 57 and 58% which don’t change the benchmarks.

Another busy weekend is upon us with three new movies being released: Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Rocketman, and Ma. Godzilla was the only one of the three to make the Hive Mind list and it also has the widest release of the group with 4,100+ theaters. Godzilla 2014 opened to 93M so if King of the Monsters surpasses that it will take over the number one spot in Movie League. Rocketman has the second widest opening and made two top ten lists. Rocketman will have to contend with an R rating but as we saw with John Wick that is not always a huge factor. Ma, which has the smallest release, is absent from the lists but Blumhouse productions has had surprise hits with horror movies before. Who will be king of the box office this weekend?
