AKUA BA - The Seed of Life
Nature, the universe and the spark that brought all into being, the creator and source has given us the seed of life and all we have to do is put it into the soil and out of it, we will derive the many benefits of NKWA DUA, the tree of life.
Farming is not a job, it is a natural obligation as ordained by the Creator.
AKUA BA, The Seed of Life. Nature and the universe have given us the Seed of Life to grow freely and abundantly for food and other necessities.
Whatever systems that have been created that make a person buy or sell what nature creates freely is all but a criminal system. A demonic system. A satanic system. No human being has the right to sell or buy what nature provides freely.

Hi. Niadto ko sa citimall ganiha after nag libot2 sa traffic. Ordered at jollibee my usual C3 spicy with extra sauce spag, regular fries and mini chocolate sundae my first meal of the day. Wala lang, mura kog patay. I mean daghan kaayo tao, nafeel nko sila na paspas kaayo sila pero ako murag naka slowmo niya ang hangin it feels weird and kanang sakit na gilok ang dughan nko. While eating lahi gud kaayo sa pakiramdam gahuna huna ko na things will be really different if dili na kita. and wtf kahilakon ko sa tunga sa food court kay didto ko nilingkod sa circle :( Lisod mag move on sa place kung sa kada sulok or lihok madumduman ka. Funny gale kay lahi gud kaayo sa feeling katong sa akua ex na 3 years pod baya mi but dali nahawa sa akua sistema. Tama gud sila na ang mga bestfriend as much as possible ayaw gud uyaba kay kung it will not work dako kaayo sa kinabuhi ang mawala. Paadto nko sa parking and saw the place where i said “yes” to you na gina hambog nimo na wala man ka nanligaw hahaha nakasmile ko naka huna huna sa memory na to very vivid pa kaayo siya pero katong nisulod nko sa sasakyan bigla na lang nitulo akua luha and ni sink in na hanggang memory na lang. Sakit kaayo but kayanon nko for you. For your happiness. While driving pauli, nisulod sa akua mind na ikaw akua kauban when i got in sa med school and ako sa imo sa law school and sakit huna hunaon na lain na imo uban if atty na gud ka. Hals. This writing on my tumblr sa mga unsaid thoughts nko for you coz i dont want na mag pa bug at sa imo. Gahapon diay sa fort pilar, grabe pag beg nko kay mama mary na unta kita na lang ayaw ka ihawa sa akua. Very desperate. But syempre if makalipay sa imo na dili kita i’ll accept it but ihawa na akuang gugma sa imo. Hals. Pero ang tanong mawala ba gud? “Mag stop rko ug love nimo kung mawala na ang moon” …

For this assignment, I decided to recreate the Akua Ba sculpture. I used the small rocks to try and show the flat, disk-like head, that looks larger than the body. This shape is associated with the sun, the giver of life. The acorns are there to represent the the fat rolls, which is a sign of beauty, vitality, and success.

For this assignment, I chose the Akua Ba fertility figure from Ghana. The emphasis on the flat, disk-like head is associated with the sun. The flat shape of the head represents beauty in the Ghana community. The chosen medium includes wood (sticks), beads (rocks), and string (leaves). I tried to choose a stick that was thicker at the top to represent neck rolls. I enjoyed being in nature creating this figure!

My sculpture imitates the Akua Ba fertility doll, but with an interesting twist. I chose to make the head smaller while keeping its shape. I think this gives it a more subtle look. The flowers symbolize the blossoming of a child. The dying leaves, positioned below the flowers as the feet, symbolize the decay of older people, contrasting the top half of the sculpture and showcasing the age-old cycle of birth and death.

I choose to replicate the Akua ba figure for this project. This project piqued my attention since I believed the size of the head was highlighted, thus I made it the central element by incorporating the maple leaf and the crown of pinecones around it. I then used a growing leaf and placed a pinecone in the center to accentuate women's uterus and fertility within their bodies.

My Akua Ba figure displays many features within the original Akua Ba figure. The flat, disk-type head and the pine cone for the neck rolls are symbolic to this specific figure.

I chose to have my fertility goddess depict Akua Ba. I tried to resemble her in my figure in various ways. The most obvious characteristic would be the large and flat head resembled by the large and flat orange leaf. Her neck rolls were shown as some smaller leaves positioned in a way that lines her throat area. Since she has a long thin body with long arms and short legs, I used twigs to depict this feature.

The 7-Day Week
The origins of the 7-day week today have been attributed to the so-called Babylonians. This will be a false narrative and etymology. It was our ancient ancestors who first developed the days of the week and mapped them to the very divinities, natural laws, forces or spirits (these terms can be used interchangeably).
Asi (Sun)
Dwo (Moon)
Bena (Fire with its cooling agents, water and air)
Wuku (The creative seed called Akua-Ba, the seed of life)
Asaase (earth)
Afi (the spirit of growth and conception)
Asa or Memene (The spark of life)
These are a few of the natural forces or laws or spirits that brought our world and universe into being in a continuous and endless cycle of life; birth, death and rebirth.
A child is automatically assigned a divinity based on the day they are born. Kwa-Asi. A vessel (kwa) of Asi. Kwa-Dwo (a vessel of Dwo) etc. The very origins of horoscopes which today are also wrongly attributed to other people and cultures.

For my assignment I decide to make Akua Ba. I used a large flat rock for the head. I then found bright pink flowers to represent the rolls of fat on the neck. I liked how bright the flowers were because it really makes the rolls of fat pop at the viewer. I then gathered other sticks and leaves to make the rest of the body.

Pictured here is my goddess figure pictured on the Allegany trail near campus. It is made of sticks, leaves, and blades of grass. The figure shares features of the Akua Ba in the disk shaped head the celebration of fat on the body. The Akua Ba has rolls on the neck to celebrate fat, whereas my figure has fat on its hips and belly shown by the oak leaf that makes up her torso.

For this assignment, I decided to recreate the Akua ba figure. I found this project to be interesting, as I felt the size of the head was emphasized so I made that the largest part. I also found the girth of the neck to be noticeable in the neck compared to the legs or arms. Lastly, I used the autumn leaf as a "dress" to represent some femininity found within this unit.
