What do you think, seeing all the classes and clubs here? Different from highschool?

Souma: Aah, the university library and “cafe” are quite interesting.

“Ensemble Square” is an area designated to raise “idols,” but a university is the educational version of that?

I was surprised to see so many people dancing in front of the ‘glass’ building. I suppose it is a ‘dance circle?’

Even the students of this university practice arts on their own… To see such a large number of people put their heart into their art here was surprising.

The other “circle” was formally recognized by the school, but this one is not… I wonder if there is a disparity between the groups?

currently reading: 羽生結弦アマチュア時代全記録 aka the complete record of Hanyu Yuzuru's figure skating amateur era. I can't actually read much Japanese (I am navigating this book by reading all kanji as their Chinese meaning) but frankly I'm mostly here for all the gorgeous pictures of Yuzu included in the book.

last movie: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. I really enjoyed it! The animation is great and I loveeee every single entrance the Wolf has. Just excellent.

Minific idea; Parad and the next gen future riders are playing video games.

Well this isn't gonna be much fun for Parad at all.

"...Are you sure none of you want to play video games with us?" Parad asked one last time, as the title screen started loading up on the screen.

"Yeah, I'm fine Parad-san," Fuyumi said, not looking away from her pet rabbit Tosuke, who she'd been trying to persuade into learning a trick for her.

"Yeah, I'm good too," Fuyuki replied, his nose buried in a book about diet and weight management for boxers.

"Hmm," hummed Akane, typing away on her phone without even looking up towards Parad.

Ise and Chiho didn't even bother to answer him, instead boredly poking their best friend Kentaro's cheeks as he muttered under his breath, already neck-deep in a research hole.

Parad sighed, shaking his head at the four Kiryuu siblings and their friends. He couldn't really understand their preoccupation with their hobbies. After all, video games were way more fun than reading books, or texting faraway brothers, or training rabbits to swordfight.

(Okay... maybe not the last one. That one was a little crazy. Then again, this was Sento's daughter after all.)

Only the two Tomari kids and Terui Ryu's daughter had taken him up on his invite to play some video games with him. And, predictably, the three kids of the vehicle-themed Riders picked Mario Kart. Which wasn't exactly his favorite game in the world, but hey, at least he was keeping them occupied and behaved somehow.

(He definitely didn't want to end up with one of the kids on top of the closet again. It was hours before they managed to get Eiji down from there!)

"Hey, Uncle Parad! I hope you don't mind but I picked your character for you!" Akira said.

"Wait, what- Oh, c'mon!" He looked to the screen, only to see that his character had already been locked in. "Why am I Toad?!" he complained. "I wanted to be Yoshi!"

"It's too late, the race is starting," replied Eiji tiredly, apparently being stuck as Princess Peach.

"Despair shall be waiting for me at the finish line." Haruna gravely intoned, not looking enthused at her being Wario.

Akira giggled. "You snooze you lose," she said, sticking her tongue out at them.

But with the absence of Kanzaki, the future looks uncertain for AKATSUKI.

Chapter Six:

Kuro: …Hey, ain’t Kanzaki actin’ a bit… Rash?

He’s got a diligent personality, so it’s no question he works hard. But, it’s also sorta surprisin’ just how many rumours that are out there cuz he’s studying so much.

Keito: It’s fine. I have already informed Anzu that there’s nothing to worry about.

But, I don’t get it. Someone like Kanzaki, who was so devoted to AKATSUKI’s activities, dropped it all in a bid to fixate on his studies instead. 

Kuro: I was pretty surprised too. Is the reason you’re all jittery because you’re so worried, Danna?

Keito: That isn’t it. I… believe in Kanazki’s will.

I did ask him if he had “any goals to fulfil at Yumenosaki,” which may have sparked this desire for learning in Kanzaki.

It seems that Kanzaki started studying out of his volition after learning about the university from Nito. All we can do now is believe in him, and wait.

But with the absence of Kanzaki, the future looks uncertain for AKATSUKI.

If me and you, Kiryuu, are not good enough to sustain ourselves in the current entertainment industry, our story will come to an end.

Now that we are in the aftermath of the ES Project, we, as AKATSUKI, still have a chance, but the veterans are bound to get serious sooner or later too.

And there's the possibility this will all work out in a way neither of us want it to.

They’ll surely maximise this situation for their own benefit. That was, of course, AKATSUKI’s old tactic.

Kuro: Well, ya ain’t wrong, but—

Is this really it?

Y’kno, it’s only been recently that I’ve been able ta work as part of AKATSUKI without any worries. To throw it all away just seems like a waste, ain’t it?

Kanzaki’s irreplaceable as a member of AKATSUKI. For him to take a break, like Nito, would be a big blow, wouldn’t it?

And anyways, RythLink is a pretty established agency. Newcomers are for sure making big waves, but AKATSUKI’s style is already way too similar to the veterans that we only get small jobs.

And it’s not like I’m too picky ‘bout jobs…

But from what you’re sayin’, Hasumi-dana, there’s a chance these veterans will steal our own jobs.

Right now,  if we were to suspend our activities until Kanzaki’s ready—we might not be able ta continue as we once did before.

Keito: Obviously, I also feel distressed about that.

AKATSUKI doesn’t receive many requests, especially in relation to “traditional” style, and AKATSUKI’s situation isn’t so solid compared to the other newcomers.

…But. I had a history of using AKATSUKI for my own benefit. Just because I’m free now, that doesn’t mean that I can prevent my ego from getting a hold of me like in the past.

Even you, Kiryuu, wouldn't want to trample all over Kanzaki’s will.

Kuro: So what yer sayin’, is that if you had to weigh what’s more important, Kanzaki or AKATSUKI, you would choose Kanzaki.

Keito: Now you’re taking it to an extreme. I didn’t say that.

I cherish AKATSUKI, but that is only because the three of us want to be “AKATSUKI.” To change the formation of the unit members, I’m in opposition to it.

Kuro: …

…Heh, hahaha! ♪

Keito: What’s with the laugh. You’re weirding me out.

Are you testing me or something? This isn’t anything like you Kiryuu—

Kuro: Nah, it’s my bad. Forget about it.

It’s just, it’s so you, Danna. You decide on something, and don’t care for what it’s gonna look like to others.

No, not just you Danna, but Kanzaki too. I wonder where he gets it from… ♪

There’s more pathways to take than there are people in this world. But ya could also stop walking, and have a life where you devote yourself to fulfilling the goals of the people around you instead.

…But I think I’ve got it now. Danna, you want Kanzaki ta live a life of freedom, ta not be dragged down with the agendas of the people around him. 

Keito: …So, that’s what you think. Frankly, I wasn’t really thinking that far ahead.

Well, in anycase, we must protect Kanzaki’s will and watch over him while he studies. In the meantime, we must make sure AKATSUKI’s activities do not make him lose focus.

Kuro: That’s right. With Kanzaki working hard, I can’t just sit here and doze off. We’ll have to take these problems head on, so when he comes back it’s a warm welcome ♪

Keito: Aah, well we don’t know what Kanzaki’s choice is going to be, but we have to consider all possible possibilities—

…Hm? Looks Like I’ve got mail. Is this from the program director I met with recently?

We have a guest appearance scheduled for next month, but it’s postponed because of a “veteran idol project” coming up… huh?

Kuro: Haha, speak of the devil.

Thinking about doing a makeup job, without Kanzaki?

Keito: That’s right. The opportunity presents itself, so let’s face this battle of tactics head on. 

Working with you like this, Kiryuu, it’s not a bad feeling. Compared to what disasters happened at Yumenosaki before Kanzaki joined us, these current problems are nothing.

…So then, Kiryuu?

Kuro: Aah, alright. We ain’t got a choice, we’ve gotta protect AKATSUKI in Kanzaki’s stead, yeah?

Even if he chooses a different path, he still needs a place to come back to.
