The Akimichi Clan’s bones are impossibly brittle. They break and snap, elongate and shrink on command. They worship the concept of Death. They do not dream of the afterlife or second life. This is your one life and so you must do everything and anything to make it okay so you have to break your bones and stretch your skin and muscles and destroy everything about yourself to keep living.
They do not live past 40.

Naruto Ramblings:
Ino-Shika-Chou patriarchs not reprimanding their children’s bad habits and not being so strict to their training is them being cunning. Because they don’t want their children to be enlisted from them by the anbu at the young age or being kidnapped by Danzo. Like they realized what happened to prodigies and how they are handled by the village. *cough* Itachi and Kakashi*cough*. Inoichi and Shibi got their clan kid took away from them. (In Shibi’s case it was supposed to be Shino who is the CLAN HEIR. Torune just volunteered in Shino’s stead.) Shikaku having a prodigy strategist as a son also had a fear that Danzo will took his child too. And Hiruzen just let this war criminal run amok doesn’t he?

i really hate how out of the main konoha 9, only one of them isn't from a clan — and not only that, but only two of them aren't heirs.
it just seems like such lazy writing to throw all these clans in at once with no further explanation. if there was a reason given like konoha has a really high amount of clans so of course there'd be a few person class, or maybe all the clan heads tried to have kids around the same time to start the new generation together — at least then it would kind of make sense.
with characters like hinata, naruto, and sasuke, it's kind of impossible to strip their heritage away from then since it's integral to their character — but with other characters, it kind of just feels like they're from a clan for the sake of being from a clan. their clans are never really expanded on and how they feel about their families aren't talked about.
i get that not all the clans have to be super depressing like the hyūga and uchiha, but it feels like that's kind of the point — like, a lot of naruto's storyline is about how damaging these clans' rules and such can be, so it feels out of place to just have completely happy and normal clans besides the others.
i think inoshikacho could be changed. rather than representing clans coming together, it's shinobi families. they're all simply from lineages of shinobi who developed their techniques over time. they were all born around the same time because their parents planned it, just like their parents had done before them.
ino's family could specialize in the interrogation unit, which caused them to develope their mind jutsu over time; shikamaru's family could have been stealth ninja or even anbu members; and choji's family could have simply been from people who learned how to use the yang release and such.
it's a bit harder to separate kiba and shino from their clans because their techniques are so unique, but i think it works better to just tweak their clans rather than getting rid of them as a whole.
the inuzuka clan is looked down on for not being as prestigious as the others, along with their general distaste for gender norms and traditions. they're hard working, ambitious, and will not be pushed around or trapped behind ridiculous rules.
i know this contradicts what i said earlier about having happy clans running around, but i feel like the inuzuka could help represent small clans and also more indigenous traits. having hunting dogs, facial markings, and women in power are things found in many indigenous clans — i can't see any of inoshikacho being the same.
the aburame clan is generally isolated from the rest of the village, some if it by choice and some not. they're judged for their abilities — and after being faced with so much because of it, they decided they're better off on their own for the most part. they're not malicious, however, or looking for revenge; but they're taught that people will judge them and they have to be smart enough to value themselves of those people's opinions. they are viewed with disgust and fear, not envy or respect. they will welcome you, but only from an arms length.
#this is just my opinion though#i don't like how the clans are all dropped at once rather than slowly revealed#naruto#naruto headcanons#yamanaka clan#nara clan#akimichi clan#aburame clan#inuzuka clan#aloeverants

Oh. Yes. Someone gets it.
Like, I am sorry, when I learned that Choji ended up with a girl that, compared to the others, had basically ZERO screentime, and came out of left-field when it comes to their romance... At this rate, you might as well have left it at, Choji remained a bachelor, but a big womanizer too.
But naturally, Ino isn't meant to be understood as "shallow", only in the earlier stages of the story, making her a product of her perfectionist and toxic environment. Choji could have easily shown her: You don't need to be perfect in order to like yourself. And there is nothing wrong with eating some junk food every now and then, because he knows, she practically tortures herself to stay healthy.
Imagine him just finding her, during Part 1, at her absolute lowest, because she fell into that starvation phase again, because she was told, "she was getting fat again", despite already being as thin as a carrot. And he finds her at a restaurant, stuffing her face, sitting right next to her, before she runs to the bathroom to throw up, because, you can already guess the gist of it.
And he asks her, the all-defining question: ...Is it even worth it, trying to please someone, who doesn't even care about you, even at your worst? Because, y'know, that is a theme in general that can be applied to all of Naruto.
"If they don't accept you at your worst, then they don't deserve you at your best."
Their romance can be a golden life lesson too, in that, you shouldn't set ultimatums to relationships, just let them happen. And if those weirdos find you "strange" for liking someone, that doesn't exactly fit into the overarching mold of a pre-conceived societal notion, in the case of Naruto, that being, the "ideal shinobi / kunoichi", then that is a THEY problem, not a YOU problem. When you think about it, Choji and Ino really are the biggest victims of their own environments:
Choji is overweight, pretty slow and too easy-going, not exactly attributes you would associate with the stereotypical male shinobi, who are usually fast, agile and always on-duty, and he got bullied for something he couldn't help, because his genetics practically FORCE him to overeat, otherwise, he might become more vulnerable in battle.
Ino is obsessing over the most meaningless details, because she is a perfectionist, driven by the downright insulting and hypocritical standards of what the "ideal kunoichi" is supposed to be, feminine, submissive and always soft-spoken, and, oh, flowers and men are always the talking points, because girls be girls, I guess. Not fighters.
So yeah, these two truly deserve each other. Choji can help Ino lighten up, as he may even find her attractive all... plumpy. And well, Ino can teach Choji how to be more confident in himself, not allowing the negative comments about his weight to get to him. And well, once they are adults, well... he can impress her with his Super Expansion ability, in...
...different ways, KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING?
you’ve heard of shikaino
and you know all about saiino
but have you considered
chouino
1. ino spends most of the series being pretty shallow and closed-minded when it comes to looks and who she is attracted to; even her interest in sai is initially based around him being attractive like sasuke
2. chouji’s backstory is full of being bullied for his weight/appearance; his father tells him that one day someone will love him for his kind and caring heart. throughout the series chouji demonstrates this caring nature, particularly for ino (who also cares for chouji)
3. maybe it’s just me, but karui ending up with chouji seems like kishimoto threw them together at the last minute, or as an afterthought just to try to wrap up their characters’ stories
4. ^in the same vein, sai just seems too weird for ino. i don’t buy it that their personalities clicked at all and their entire attraction seems forced
5. they are both slated to become the next heads of their respective clans, making them a super duper power couple
6. they just look damn good together, tbh. much better than sai and ino or even shika and ino in my opinion considering all these factors, wouldn’t it be great if ino matured past her hang-ups on physical appearances to be with a truly caring, awesome guy? in turn, wouldn’t it be sweet for chouji to end up with a girl (his teammate) who he’s cared for all along?
just imagine that moment when they realize their feelings for each other and how perfect it would be!
idk i could probably convey my thoughts better but i just can’t seem to be coherent right now. maybe i’ll come back to this later~

Sakura Blossoms
One of the most significant character moments for Sakura Haruno in the original series of Naruto remains one of the most misunderstood. This can, no doubt, be attributed to the fact that a large portion of shonen fans are incapable of understanding any form of writing that isn’t surface-level and doesn’t have to be spoon-fed to them. Many view this scene as an example of illogical decision-making by Sakura because she had an “opening” to stab her opponent, as shown here:
However, Masashi Kishimoto goes out of his way to provide two specific reasons as to why this approach wouldn’t work: a practical reason and a symbolic one.
Practically speaking, it is explicitly stated that had Sakura attempted to stab the Hidden Sound shinobi, it wouldn’t have worked.
It was also established very early on that there was a massive power imbalance between the two and that, no matter what Sakura did, the Hidden Sound shinobi would always have a counterattack because they were more skilled and had more experience. Hence, instead of using the Kunai to stab her opponent, as this particular Hidden Sound shinobi expected, Sakura decided to cut her hair—not only to catch her opponent off guard but because Sakura herself knew that stabbing her wouldn’t work; she’d simply be overpowered.
Symbolically speaking, the reason Kishimoto had Sakura cut her hair (the most important reason and the entire purpose of the scene in the first place) was to signify the beginning of her character arc. To understand this, we need to look at Sakura’s initial character traits and the perceptions she carried at the start of the series.
Initially, Sakura is introduced as a superficial, appearance-obsessed, boy-crazy girl who has a no real understanding of what it means to be a shinobi.
She even outright admits to already considering herself a full-fledged ninja despite having done nothing to earn that title.
This false self-perception is what leads Sakura astray compared to her teammates. She becomes disinterested in the idea of training to become stronger and doesn’t work for the skill she so desperately needs at this point in the story. In her mind, there’s no point in training if she’s already graduated the academy and become a “full-fledged” shinobi. Her own arrogance and naïveté on the subject even lead her to believe that she’s fully superior to her teammates on Team Seven.
However, as the story progresses, we see Sakura’s inexperience in battle and taijutsu, combined with her misguided priorities (particularly her obsession with Sasuke) and her arrogance regarding her own self-perceptions, make her overly reliant on her teammates. This not only makes Sakura a burden to her team but shows the consequences of her actions, behaviours, and beliefs.
The forest of death arc is so crucial for Sakura‘s character, as it pushes each member of Team Seven into moments of growth. For Sakura, it where she learns the true meaning of being a shinobi and the trials and tribulations that come along with it. Sakura is put in a situation where she’s forced to fight on her own for the first time in her life to protect her two teammates. As she does, her enemy grabs her by the hair, trapping her. With no escape, Sakura takes her Kunai and cuts her hair.
In this moment, Sakura is physically cutting off an aspect of her identity that aided in the superficial virtues of her character, both physically and emotionally. She is unbinding herself to the girl she used to be, freeing herself of her negative qualities and traits, and most importantly, her false self-perception regarding the identity of a shinobi. The act of haircutting within literature can carry various meanings, but the most common symbolism behind it is to mark a character’s transition into a new stage of life. In Ancient Greece, it was tradition to cut one’s hair as a sign of mourning, symbolizing a positive or negative change for the character. In Sakura’s case, she is “killing” her past self and mourning this loss through the act of cutting her hair, while also stepping in to a new sense of self with a clearer understanding of what it means to be a ninja and the harsh realities that follow it. That’s why this line:
Is so important because it serves as a representation, both figuratively and literally, that it’s Sakura’s turn to step into the role of a true shinobi—to be someone her teammates can count on and, most importantly, to say goodbye to the girl she once was.
What’s more is that we actually see how this character development impacts Sakura’s throughout the series. The Forest of Death scene is more than just words; it marks a transition she carries forward, not only becoming someone her comrades can rely on but also becoming someone who understands the deeper nature of things and people rather than viewing them through a superficial lens. This growth is especially evident in her desire to become stronger, seeking out training from a Sanin, and in the way she begins to see Sasuke after the Forest of Death. Instead of viewing him merely as an attractive classmate she has a crush on, she starts to see him for who he truly is—a traumatized boy falling prey to his own pain and going down a dark path. This new perception makes her want to help him, both physically and emotionally, rather than simply wanting to make him hers, as she did initially.
Ultimately, this scene is what gave Sakura the development to become the character she was at the end of the series—a strong kunoich and a true, full-fledged shinobi, as well as someone who can genuinely understand the pain and trauma of others.
