Who are your favorite female characters? ^^
Oh i have a lot and it´s a very interesting question because I don´t talk that much about them lol. But yeah I have some.
Kurokami no Onna in death parade she was beside Decim my favourite character. I love her story, it´s very tragic but i really liked her personality.
Kagura, Mutsu and Tama from gintama. Well i have a lot more in gintama i like but i would say these are my top three. Kagura because she is very strong. Mutsu because she is very cool and Tama because omg I love her look and I also like her personality. The way she behaves around gintoki and how these two are such good friends is really cool. My most favourite stories were where she and gintoki had a free day, then when she made a friend with this cigarette machine and when she was attacked bei Kintoki but Gintoki rescued her.
Sophie Hatter love her personality ( i mean the fact that i like these girls/women is mostly because their personality is cool) but i like her fighting spirit?! and how she handles things. F.e. when she confessed her feelings to Howl i thought: "damn girl, yes go and catch your man!" Amazing <3
Maomao because i love her passion for medicine and also how she sees the world and thinks about it. Also I love people who have an opinion they share with self confidence. (uh these characters all have so much more but i try to shorten it okay?)
Akane Tsunemori is a very special character to me because with her i´ve witnessed psycho pass and came back into the anime world. Her character development throughout the whole story is for me one of the best. At first i was a little bit confused about her behaviour but the more you watch, the more you understand her. And now I can say: "she is a very brave women and has her own opinion about the world she lives in!"
Chihiro Ogino one of my childhood heroines. She is brave, amazing and although she is very scared at first I can sense her fighting spirit. She tries everything to save her family and Haku and yeah. I´M JUST WAITING FOR A SECOND MOVIE HERE YEAH? THE PROMISE YOU ALL!!!
Violet Evergarden her story is tragic but although she witnessed such horror, she chose to help people with her job. And yeah I really like that she learns so much through her costomers. <3
Hitori Gotou the fact that i can see so much of me in her is so funny to me. She is a very funny character but I can also understand her struggle and being a very shy, introvert person is sometimes a big struggle. But she shows me that you can still be brave and fulfill your wishes if you don´t give up. <3
Re-l Mayer amazing woman. The whole story is amazing but she alone is such cool. I really love her design and her personality. She is so strong and very cool.
Sawako Kuronuma the whole story around her makes me a little bit sad because she is such a heartwarming character. But people misunderstand her so much that she loses her self confidence but slowly regains it after finding new trust in people around her. And I think this the main aspect why I love her so much.
Shirayuki my beautiful shirayuki. Her red hair are something but also her whole personality is something that draws you in. <3
Arte in times where a women wasn´t equal as a man she tries to learn art although she knows it will be hard vor her. And this makes her so brave. A really strong woman if you ask me.
Hitoka Yachi oh yachi my little sunshine. Her story with her mom is my favourite in hq. Yes it´s not that long but it was really cool the see the changes and Yachi is motivated to learn something from a new world. A sport she doesn´t know but she supports Karasuno and soon becomes a very big part of this team. Love her. <3
Maron Kusakabe my heroine since my childhood. <3 Strong, beautiful, amazing and nobody catches her. She is always fighting for the good ones and wins against the demons on this earth. When I was a kid I always wanted to be like her. <3
(and i have many more, but here is a little view who my favourite one is. I think I like women who are brave and with brave i don´t mean "oh she has to fight with fists or swords" yes it´s cool when they can do it but for me fighting is so much more. sometimes it´s the little things, f.e. "when somebody tries to force you into a role and you don´t want it, so you don´t listen to these people and choose a different path" this is for me also fighting and being brave. or having an opinion about something although the mass of people don´t think like that. also fighting and being brave means also to learn new things and change your opinion. maybe i could say i like them because they seem to me realistic?! if we ignore the fantasy aspect in some stories lol. XD)

BECAUSE I’M NOT POPULAR, I’LL READ WATAMOTE: CHAPTER #160
After a long week of repeating quizzes, forging apology letters, and unexpected-but-not-really bonding, Tomoko and Yoshida are finally free to go. As the barrier separating Tomoko’s suspension and the outside world with her friends is finally lifted, we get to see just how both parties have grown from this experience. Even if Tomoko’s apology was more or less half-assed, something may have been gained after all...
Chapter 160: Because I’m Not Popular, It’s The Last Day Of Suspension
Tumblr media
Whaddup, Tomoki? Your eye bags aren’t so heavy today. Is that artistic oversight, or has Tomoko’s suspension taken a load off your stress level?
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, I had forgotten that Tomoki heads to school earlier than Tomoko does. He used to get really anal about avoiding his sister in the mornings, but it looks like he’s not so objectionable about it anymore...
Tumblr media
Is that how it works? I've never worked at a huge company with a sports club other than a fantasy football league, so I don’t have much of a reference. But if Tomoko is correct, then my assumption is that the sports clubs are used to indirectly promote “company loyalty” and get more work mileage out of their employees.
Tumblr media
It’s casual conversations like this that really show just much Tomoko and Tomoki’s sibling relationship has improved since way back then. Sure, they still take potshots at each other, but it’s more in the realm of affectionate brother-sister banter now. The days where they openly held the other with actual disdain have finally come to an end.
Tumblr media
Not that they want to look particularly close when out in public, of course.
Tumblr media
It’s only the second page, and we’re already getting hit with the heartwarming feels? Damn, this is gonna be a tearjerker chapter, ain’t it?
Tumblr media
As this chapter soon verifies, the last day of suspension is nothing short of formalities and kissing ass.
Tumblr media
Wow, it took the whole week to get full marks on those worksheets? Maybe I’m missing something here, but I’m not sure they’re really learning anything from those suspension packets if they’re just regurgitating answers.
Also, Dead-Eyes Teacher can actually smile? How about that.
Tumblr media
Tomoko’s apathy towards her progress here leaves me wondering: Just how much do the teachers really think suspension is inspiring students to do better? My guess has always been that suspension is like a prison in principle in that it’s more about reforming them than punishment. It may work for some, though I’m inclined to believe that most of them just want to pay their dues and leave with very little actual reflection on their actions, like Yoshida’s perpetually blank face seems to suggest.
Tumblr media
Well, I suppose the lack of classroom distractions had to account for something, right? Though having her friends around could be seen as both a hindrance and a benefit towards her study habits.
Tumblr media
There’snospecialmeaningforwhyMakosaidYoshida’snamefirst.
There’snospecialmeaningforwhyMakosaidYoshida’snamefirst.
There’snospecialmeaningforwhyMakosaidYoshida’snamefirst.
There’snospecialmeaningforwhyMakosaidYoshida’snamefirst.
...darn it.
Tumblr media
So on the Indifference Scale, she just slightly dips in favor of wanting to see them.
Oh Yuri, I know that being noncommittal is kind of your thing, but no one’s going to give you a hard time for wanting to see your friends, especially Mako.
Tumblr media
Do I sense a flash mob in the workings here? That’d be pretty lit.
Tumblr media
So Katou actually does have some awareness that the idiosyncrasies of her behavior are, in fact, idiosyncrasies. I guess you don’t get to be as beloved as Katou unless you had some common sense.
Tumblr media
Even though we all already knew the answer, there’s something oddly relieving to hear it from Katou herself. I think it’s largely out of a sense of empathy for Fuuka, since she’s been strung along for so long, but also because it comes across as “humbling” to hear the on-top-of-the-pedestal Katou accept the truth.
Tumblr media
That’s what happens when your expectations don’t match up with reality. You build up this impression for so long that you can’t help but feel jaded when it turns out to not be true, even if you didn’t actually want it to happen.
I call it the Ucchi Effect.
Tumblr media
Nooooo, Katou, you had it in the bag! You should have quit while you’re ahead!
But yeah. Katou didn’t really need to bring this up, so a part of me wants to think that she’s using the whole hair-touching moment as a consolation when the whole groping thing didn’t work out.
Still, it’s kind of unnerving that she finds the idea of Tomoko, or anyone really wanting to touch her...there to be so humorous...
Tumblr media
What goes around comes around. Stay strong, Fuuka.
Tumblr media
We get to see Yoshida’s mom?!?!
Officially the best chapter ever.
Tumblr media
I love how this whole time, the teachers have been pestering Yoshida to look more presentable. I’m not sure if Yoshida is being actively defiant or if she’s just clueless about these sorts of things, but I do appreciate that she complies without much fuss.
Tumblr media
Getting those parent-teacher conference vibes right about now. The only difference is that those are some swanky couches.
Tumblr media
I wonder if Nico Tanigawa just drew up a bunch of random old guys for this “Presidents Throughout The Years” or if they were based on real people.
Tumblr media
So...Yoshida’s mom. She definitely has the air of a high-powered career woman, what with the suit and all. It’s pretty ironic considering she has a delinquent like Yoshida for a daughter, but at the same time, maybe it isn’t. It’s been hinted before that Yoshida may come from a well-off family, so having a mom making a generous salary seems pretty plausible. Makes you wonder if Yoshida’s delinquent-ness is some form of rebellion...
Tumblr media
I totally expected that Tomoko and Yoshida would have to do something like this, but still. FUUUUUUUUU–
Tumblr media
In the immortal words of Tomoko Kuroki...
“How do I bullshit my way out of this one?”
Tumblr media
Well, for what it’s worth, the principal looks like a nice, reasonable guy. But as Tomoko has proven time and again, you can never be too careful. Though I have to say, I’m surprised Tomoko would even consider screwing around instead of going right for the safe option. Having an active social life has really given her enough courage to take some risks, even if they end up with bad results more often than not.
So she thinks the principal is one of those perpetually smiling assassins you see in isekai series? That’s really chuuni and I love it.
Tumblr media
So in the end, she takes the safe route. Fair enough, but her response is so stock and wooden that you just know it's gonna come to bite her in the ass.
Tumblr media
In the midst of all the bullshitting, some of Tomoko’s honestly ends up rising to the surface. It’s the kind of unintended sincerity that really warms my heart. This whole arc has been a great opportunity for the adults in Tomoko’s life to recognize her unexpected popularity, so I’m sure Principal-san will offer some words of wisdom that Tomoko will take to heart for the rest for her li–
Tumblr media
Nah, just kidding. Principal’s a troll.
Tumblr media
I find it hilarious that Reina’s been put through the suspension wringer so many times, that it stopped being anything worth remembering. For all we know, suspension was just another Tuesday for her.
Tumblr media
Of all the recurring characters, who would’ve thought the dog would be one of them?
...
But seriously, whose dog is this?
Tumblr media
Delinquent girls laughing at dirty jokes is ironically wholesome to me.
“Do you’re best!” you say? All the evidence points to Ucchi finally going forward with her apology to Tomoko. Of course, Lady Luck will have it be that something will get in her way. And the way this is playing out, we’re going to have the single greater encounter this series’ has ever given us.
Tumblr media
The fact that Ucchi can accuse this dog of being gross just because it kind of resembles Tomoko is so stupidly unrealistic and stupidly hilarious at the same time. Girl needs to start majoring in gross-ology.
Tumblr media
Poor Emoji Girl just had a Freudian Slip that sums up her Tomoko-philia.
Tumblr media
Probably the most reasonable “Gross!” Ucchi has said in a long time.
I wasn’t sure if Tomopup’s appearance was just artistic license, but it turns out the dog looks just as freaky to us as it does in-universe.
Tumblr media
Huh. So unlike Yuri, Mako gets both the first name and -chan suffix? Maybe the girl’s just that naturally personable.
Tumblr media
I feel like calling out Katou for asserting dominance would be a drastically unsupported claim that would be built upon unreasonable shipping desires.
But that piercing gaze of hers makes that notion hard to assert.
Tumblr media
How the tables have turned, eh? I wouldn’t say Mako was being that hypocritical; more like she gained a bit of rebellion during the week while Yuri learned to restrain herself a little bit. A push and pull you could say.
Tumblr media
Is this foreshadowing for integrating Yoshida’s delinquent buddies into the Class 3-5 group? Please, please please make it so!
Tumblr media
Anna really does like to look on the bright side of things, huh? It’s a great perspective to have around, especially when you have a Reina in your group, who tends to see the world around her as a half-empty glass.
Tumblr media
I’ve been made aware that Mrs. Yoshida was actually apologizing for her daughter’s actions and not her own, which suggests that blaming others whenever you can is in the family blood. Even so, Yoshida’s mom is unexpectedly adorable (though given who her daughter is, it’s not that surprising). Perhaps she and Mrs. Kuroki ought to start a support group for Mothers With Troublesome Daughters.
Speaking of which, can we get Yuri’s mom in the picture, too, Nico? You know, for reasons...
Tumblr media
Ditching her own mom when the lady had to take time out of her schedule to represent her daughter’s suspended ass? The Yoshida household sounds like a fun ride (I say “ride” because prolonged exposure to Yoshida’s family sounds dangerous).
Tumblr media
Not to toot my own horn, but I always knew that if a time ever came where Tomoko had to leave her mother behind to see her explicitly named friends, her mom would encourage her without question.
Tumblr media
When it comes to apologies, acknowledgments, and the like, Tomoko is always late to the party. But even if it's at the very last second, she’ll get around to it. Tomoko’s relationship with her mom is probably the least we’ve seen since their familial love has always been more implicit. So seeing Tomoko outright admit that she really does appreciate her mother is incredibly heartwarming.
Tumblr media
Hey, hey, hey! That looks like a callback to the afterparty Tomoko told her mom she was going to at the end of her second year. Looks like it really left a positive impression on TomoMom.
Tumblr media
Not gonna mince words–seeing Tomoko’s mom look so proud of her daughter brings a tear to my eyes.
She’s never really admitted it before (as far as we know), but Tomoko’s mom really was concerned about her daughter’s lack of friends at the start of high school. Some have accused her of being a bad mother for not taking a more active role in Tomoko’s social growth, but I was never in that camp. Sure, TomoMom’s not perfect, and she could’ve shown more of an interest, but I think it did Tomoko some good that her mother never judged her. Expressing her concern without badgering her daughter is peak mothering right there.
Tumblr media
To reiterate what every fan thought at this shot: This looks like a series finale.
It rare for a chapter to end so unabashedly happy like this, but that rarity makes it all the more sweeter when it does happen. It dials it up to eleven when you realize what this means for the series going forward. One of the uncertainties Watamote has addressed is the possibility that everyone will drift apart once high school ends. Well, this single moment gives us a little test on that theory. Even if Tomoko were to disappear for a week, her friends will still be there for her. And even if it doesn’t work out as well once they go out into the “real world”, it looks like, as her mom says, Tomoko will be fine now.
And thus the curtain falls on the Suspension Arc. We’ve still got a few hurdles to overcome, but for now, things look sunny in the world of Watamote.

Main Characters: Matsui Jurina, Miyawaki Sakura
Pairings: JuriSaku, WMatsui, NanaSaku/SakuNaa, YuriAnnin, JuriMomo (friendship); [Mayu/?, Saya/?, Yui/?].
Summary: Matsui Jurina is the immovable ace of St. Hildegard’s School of Magic. Considered a protégé by many Wizard Saints, her technique and mastery is second to none. Enter Miyawaki Sakura, talentless, unrefined and socially awkward. Her golden ticket for admission into the elite school is her late father’s legacy.
What happens when Sakura suddenly gets transferred to the Special Class because of a lottery? Will the mysterious ace take interest? (Magic School AU)
Vivace: in a brisk spirited manner —used as a direction in music
Author’s Note: Hello fam, it’s been a while since I updated this fic, I hope you guys are still interested. Please do take note that this is the EDITED VERSION of Chapter 04 which was previously released. This includes new scenes and a bit more tweaks.
This chapter is more of the “setting the tone” type, the circumstances surrounding Sakura will slowly be revealed and Jurina’s connection to Sakura’s destiny is also starting to unfold. I wanted to add more interactions with other characters such as Sayanee, Mayu and Miru here but it would turn out too long so they will make more prominent appearances next chapter!
Again, feedback is always lovedddddd. <3 Do tell me what you guys think, if you have any theories/questions I’ll be thrilled to reply~
XXXX
“We’ve been waiting for you Morning Star.”
The words were spoken carefully, almost with a tinge of adoration. The masked assailant’s storm of weapons was extinguished as they touched the barrier around Jurina and Sakura. It did not seem to alarm the intruder. She merely stood her ground, marveling at the display of force before her.
“Rage against the dying of the light.” The unknown woman muttered, her lips curving into a satisfied smile.
Veni ad me–The voice sounded clearer than ever, each word reverberated inside Sakura’s head like a pendulum in its infinite course.
Who are you? What do you want? What is this? A multitude of questions flooded Sakura’s mind, her body was still numb from the sudden surge of astral force. Feeling the height of her own aura for the first time in her life was to intense that it suffocated her. Sakura panted heavily, sinking to her knees. Everything was a haze, her head felt like it was about to explode. The insignia of the Celtic cross glowed dimly below where she was crouched over, after a few more seconds, the symbol disappeared.
“Sakura?” Jurina called out once more but the other girl’s head was still bowed.
Jurina pressed on her bleeding shoulder to administer a healing spell. The energy sphere protecting them dispersed thereafter. “What have you done to her?” Jurina’s incisive glare was dead-set on the half-masked attacker.
“Do you know what the smell of blood does to sharks? To wolves? To vultures hunting for their prey?” The woman asked. Her weapons now formed a protective circle around her as she braced herself for the blonde’s counterattack. “It sends them to a frenzy,” Before she could even finish her sentence, a surge of black fire from Jurina engulfed the weapons; the different metals melted like candle wax. “This school, they’re harboring monsters.”
“I have little patience for your riddles. “The Ace hissed; the ebony flames continued to burn around the attacker.
“All that is needed is a trigger, a reminder… a stroke of anger for one’s bestial instincts to awaken.” The unnamed woman smirked. Instead of magically countering Jurina’s spell, a sword materialized in her hand. She dashed out of the black fire’s circumference, slicing through the flames.
“Are you not flattered, Jurina-sama? The mere sight of your injury has made the flower of rage blossom in that girl’s heart?” She began to assault the Ace with a flurry of physical attacks, which the latter deflected via small energy discs. “Beautiful, is it not?” The masked assailant’s movements were too quick, too precise for Jurina to invoke a second magical sequence that she was relegated to deflecting the blows.
Jurina side-glanced at Sakura who was still on the ground. She internally deliberated if she could risk all her defenses and just teleport Sakura to safer ground. The girl remained unresponsive. It would be more agreeable to secure her safety above all else, especially after their attacker directly announced she came for ‘the girl’–for Sakura.
Jurina was preparing to cast a spell around the freshman when a distortion rocked Valhalla. Chains darted towards their unnamed attacker and instantly she was brought kneeling to the ground.
Two figures had entered their alternate space.
“What did I tell you about damage absorption, kiddo? With a fighting style like yours, your greatest defense is offense.” Oshima Yuko, Central Dogma’s prime Hunter held the chains that bound the masked attacker. She smirked at Jurina and then turned to her partner, “What do we do with this, Takamina?”
Takahashi Minami pulled out a silver pistol from her leather holster. “To defile the holy ground of this Academy, more so, to threaten the life the students is unforgivable.” She aimed at the intruder, a bullet imbued with paralixia whizzed to the air.
The bullet was sliced in half before it hit its target. A lithe girl with long ebony hair and full bangs  had joined the fray. She wielded an unusually long all-white Katana; her sword’s hand guard had an intricate design of a tiger while the pommel had jade embellishments. The newcomer’s features were also obscured by the same half mask the cloaked intruder wore; however, quite noticeable were her traditional garbs. She was decked in a deep crimson kimono with a large pattern of a black crane.
“Rie-san, Master says it’s time to go back!” She spoke in an exuberant tone before throwing a flaming ofuda that was intended to break her ally’s binding.
The chains that bound the cloaked woman called ‘Rie’ shattered to pieces. “That girl, you do not understand what she is. We have waited for a hundred years, a few days will not be any more difficult.” With Rie’s words, a crack in Valhalla’s dimension materialized, both assailants disappeared into the portal.
Valhalla slowly disintegrated as the black pass reconstructed itself in Jurina’s grasp. She returned the card in her pocket and turned to the two hunters. “What are you doing here?”
Yuko grinned as she strode to the younger girl. She proceeded to ruffle Jurina’s blonde hair. “Eh? Not even a hug for your beloved mentor?” There was immeasurable warmth in her words despite her rowdy appearance.
“Yuko-san.” Jurina frowned, being treated like a child even after all these years certainly would not boost her morale the slightest—though she enjoyed the gesture nonetheless. Yuko was like an indomitable rock to her. Ever since she was a child, Jurina wasn’t so inclined to depend on others, but Oshima Yuko was a different existence altogether in the blonde’s life—she owed her combat proficiencies to the small spitfire whose presence could dwarf even the tallest person in the room. Sometimes, Jurina thinks she also owed Yuko her competence in the art of seduction.
“It’s been a while, Jurina. You’ve grown up.” Takamina smiled as she approached them. There was always a soft glow of kindness lighting up her eyes.
“There’s big room for improvement though. What was that J? Not being able to sustain a physical parry is humiliating for the first in rank.” Yuko laughed heartily, despite her blunt words she was merely being mischievous.
“I was caught off guard.” The student sighed, not taking the slightest offense in the hunter’s jeering. Yuko was the Ace during her days in the Academy, she would tease Jurina at times over their power scale. It would slightly rile up the blonde girl during her younger years, but it seemed St. Hildegard’s Ace had learned a thing or two about composure as she aged.
In reality, Jurina did not wish to disclose to her mentor that she was experiencing some upset in controlling her aura. Some things were best left unsaid, she thought. After all, Yuko had her hands full with Central Dogma’s affairs and inconveniencing her would be the last thing Jurina wanted.
Takamina shook her head. “Really…both of you.” Part of her was glad that some things remained familiar in St. Hildegard Academy. Seeing Jurina was quite nostalgic and the childish banter between the two brought back some memories. But the other part of her was gripped by apprehension at the breach of the Academy’s security. Never in her years in the Academy had an intrusion occurred within school grounds—St. Hildegard was a fortress.
She bent down to the freshman who was still in a catatonic state. “Are you alright, young lady?” Concern overflowed from each word. She was about to hold the girl by the shoulder when the insignia of a Celtic cross reappeared around the freshman for a split of a second. It took Takamina by surprise.
Sakura collapsed in her arms. “There, there…” Takamina coaxed, her motherly instincts kicking in almost seamlessly. What was the objective of those intruders? Who was this young girl?
There was a rupture of smoke and whizzes of energy as Shinoda Mariko, the adviser of the Special Class, hastily entered the scene. Her eyes scanned her students from head to toe. “I’ll take it from here.” She said while carrying the unconscious girl.
Not long after, Haruna in her hawk form landed beside the professor. Her majestic wings released a gust of wind as she descended. Mariko placed Sakura on the bird’s back with great delicacy.
“Nyan-nyan!” Yuko exclaimed but the red bird immediately took flight with Sakura in tow before the hunter could even take a step forward.
“Yuko, Takamina, the Headmaster is waiting.” Mariko’s tone was urgent, at her words the two hunters nodded and took their leave. A courtesy call with Akimoto Yasushi should have been the first order of business.
“As for you, would you care to tell me what transpired, Matsui?”
Jurina nodded.
~*~*~*~
The warm yellow lights of the old library flickered twice. Yokoyama Yui lifted her gaze from the thick spell book she had been engrossed in for the past hour. It seemed the other students took no notice of it. Nevertheless, she surveyed the surroundings, silently tuning her own aura with the air around her. She could feel a slight disturbance humming across her consciousness.
The two girls studying with Yui turned their attentions to the older girl.
“What’s the matter?” Iriyama Anna, the girl seated in front of her, queried.  The girl’s dark eyes remained unperturbed. She could recognize the faint glow of Yui’s astral force as the President tried to weave her aura in the atmosphere.
Okada Nana simply waited for Yui’s response.
“The light’s flickered.” said Yui. She couldn’t place a finger on what felt wrong, but something did.
“I know.”
“No, I mean…I felt dregs of some strange energy…” The Student Council President explained. “And Valhalla was activated inside the school grounds.”   Her above average astral sensitivity enabled her to detect dimensional shifts even from miles away.
“Activation of Valhalla is prohibited without the administration’s sanction.” The Prefect in Nana was almost scandalized someone was breaking school regulations. She tried to feel the vibrations in the air herself, as if to confirm what was likely a fact already established by the President. Valhalla was initiated.
Yui closed her eyes there was a number of leftover astral energies whirling within the 2 mile radius. She recognized some from their professors’ signatures but their releases were too minute to even cause a dimensional shift.
“Hunters from Central Dogma are here.” Annin muttered, her face remained as calm as still water.
“You recognized that? Their astral presence had been carefully cloaked. I’m amazed Annin.” Yui complemented, not even her aptitude was enough to unmask their auras.  Iriyama Anna’s competency far exceeded her expectations.
“No they’re technical untraceable.” Annin cut herself off mid-sentence, “but I saw Yuko-san and Takamina-san enter the gates  earlier so…I assumed…” Her composure did not waiver the slightest at Yui’s embarrassing miscomprehension, although a slight tinge of red tinted her cheeks.
Nana stifled a chuckle. “Well played, Annin.”
“But that doesn’t explain the strange distortion.” Yui rubbed her chin, contemplating over the fact that it would be illogical for Hunters of Central Dogma to release an immense astral surge inside a school, no less. “I’ve never felt it before.” She was certain something was amiss.
Sympathetic to their President’s concern, Nana took out a card from her Tarot Deck that was neatly tucked under the layers of her purple cloak. The Hierophant–an old man in sacred garbs, holding the Pontiff staff in one hand and pointing to the heavens with the other, was drawn on the card.
Nana whispered an invocation and the drawing seemed to shift, the contours of the image turned into light outlines as it was lifted off from the paper. A small, constellation-like image of the Hierophant floated in front of them. “I seek your knowledge.” She commanded and the light silhouette erupted; disappearing into her forehead like small grains of sparkling sand being sucked into a vacuum.
People would erroneously assume that Okada Nana’s magical ability was limited to divination, but it was actually bringing her Tarot to life that was her specialty. Each Arcana held a skill that enabled her to execute offensive attacks, defensive enchantments or assists. Nana felt her astral sensitivity heighten, thanks to the Hierophant. Suddenly, she could feel even the slightest shift of astral force in the area like crashing waves.
Her eyebrows furrowed as the Hierophant showed her a memory.
First day of classes, in front of St. Hildegard’s statue, just a few minutes before the first bell:
A girl with short brown hair, soulful eyes and uncertain expression walked through the gates.
She was fumbling with some kind of paper, taking a few minutes to drink in the scenery before resolving to move forward.
A spark of recognition filled Nana’s senses.
This was Miyawaki Sakura.
“It’s Sakura.” Naa-chan finally opened her eyes, Sakura’s astral signature hovered about her consciousness like a fuzzy static. “And it came from the old solarium.” It was a  warm sensation,  Nana could clearly feel Sakura in every shred of the energy that had just intertwined with her own aura. The Hierophant was a powerful tool for deciphering and locating people based on astral energy and Nana found it most convenient for gauging her opponents.
“Miyawaki?” Annin’s impenetrable ice shell of an expression finally cracked. “Impossible, she can’t even cast proper levitation on herself.” It was incredulous to even theorize that the transfer student could conjure that much astral force to affect the atmosphere within a 2-mile radius.
Yui seemed to be deeply stirred but did not voice out her surprise over the matter.
“What did she do?” Nana murmured; her inquiry was laced with worry. Sakura seemed to be naturally drawn to danger, she surmised.
The President closed her spell book, she rose from her seat; the wooden chair slightly screeched as it was pushed back. “Shall we find out?”
~*~*~*~
A black limousine sped through the streets with utter disregard for traffic regulations, it seemed the occupants of the automobile were unruffled by the multiple protocols they were breaking. A woman dressed in all black sat in the passenger seat. Her whole attire was similar to Kinoshita Momoka’s uniform, only that instead of black pants, she wore a long ebony skirt with a high slit on each side to facilitate her movement. Her ensemble spoke of her rank as part of the Matsui House’s elite security unit.
The woman felt for her earpiece. “Zeta1, all clear.” She spoke through the small device.
“Akane, how many more minutes? I’m scheduled to meet Grandfather at 5 o’clock, we’re running late.” Matsui Rena asked her security detail. Although her tone was calm, she was undoubtedly intimidating.
“Rena-sama, we are trying everything we can, the reroute has made it extremely difficult for us to operate under our original calculations.” Takayanagi Akane, Rena’s head sentinel for the past 7 years answered politely.
The Matsui noble sighed, shifting her gaze to the silver haired person who pensively sat in front of her. “Where is Jurina?” It sounded more of a threat than a question.
Kinoshita Momoka scratched the back of her nape. Willing her self to bury any hint of uneasiness, she tried to conjure the nerves of steel she was trained with. “J’s resting, we just finished a school sanctioned mission and she was absolutely drained.” It took every fiber of her being to make the big leap of faith and lie in front of Matsui Rena’s face. No way in hell was she telling Rena and by extension—the Patriarch—that Jurina was having troubles controlling the curse.
Rena raised an eyebrow. “And she sent you to attend this important meeting with the Round?” She referred to the circle of elites of the Matsui Conglomerate. A conclave was called by their Grandfather to discuss this quarter’s trajectory.
“I only follow orders, you know.” Momoka tried to save herself. Despite the stark difference in their ranks, it was quite noticeable that she did not speak to Rena with as much deference as other guards would. The fact that she could casually address the noble only highlighted their familiar relationship.
Rena scrutinized Jurina’s bodyguard, her gaze did not leave Momoka’s face, as if silently pressuring the other girl to come clean. “I could have your head on a platter, Momo.” It was no exaggeration at all.
Momoka internally cringed. She should probably start praying to all the gods—old and new.
~*~*~*~
There was a bright white light that washed through Sakura’s whole being. It felt like the soft glow of sunlight in the early morning. Strangely, her mind, heart and soul was at peace within the infinite blankness that cradled her. “Where is this?” She tried to speak but found that her voice had failed her.
A large white raven the color of snow slowly materialized. Its mighty wings could tear asunder even the breath of the wind.
“Are you the one?” The bird spoke to her clearly despite it’s mouth not even moving an inch. “Will you be the one to awaken me from my slumber, Child of Yore?”
Sakura couldn’t understand a thing the enormous bird was alluding to. She shook her head frantically as if trying to indicate her disagreement.
The raven’s eyes were red like blood but Sakura saw herself clearly reflected in its glassy orbs. A chill ran down her spine, it was the same kind of fear that gripped her when she saw her mother and father fall.
Red like blood.
Red like hatred.
Red like death.
“Sakura,” The bird finally addressed her, a chilling macabre shriek as it took flight. “The gears of fate have been set in motion. You will be devoured if you remain at the precipice of lunacy.”
In an instant, the white floor she stood on shattered, leaving her plummeting into an endless abyss, all the whites melting into a soulless black oblivion.
Just when she thought that the darkness would engulf her, a strong hand caught her, breaking her fall.
Clad in an all white ensemble that was reminiscent of a white cavalier, Matsui Jurina seemed to float amid the darkness. Her fingers firmly intertwined with Sakura’s as she kept the younger girl from dropping into the nothingness.
“Jurina-san?” Sakura’s eyes were wide with disbelief as Jurina pulled her close in a tight embrace.
The Ace’s smile was comforting, her presence flooded Sakura with a faultless sense of security.
“I’ll keep you safe, princess—”
.
.
.
.
Sakura’s eyes fluttered open, before her hazy vision could readjust, her first working sense was her sense of smell. The room was filled with the scent of incense and jasmine. It was extremely calming, she noted. When she was no longer half-awake, she realized that she had been lying on an enormous bed with fur throws, inside the chamber she could not recognize.
“Are you hurt anywhere?” A soothing voice greeted her. A woman with auburn hair decked in shades of brown and ecru was watching over her from the bedside.
She sat up, feeling the lightest she had ever been in years. “I don’t think so.” She looked around and found that only the two of them were present in the room. “Thank you for tending to me Miss…ummm…”
“Kojima Haruna. I’m part of the Academy’s Board of Regents.” The woman smiled. Although her body language was cordial her dark brown eyes felt like it could engulf Sakura whole. It eerily reminded the freshman of the ever-omniscient Hawk inside the Headmaster’s office.
“Kojima-san, I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
“Not at all, how are you feeling?” Haruna reached for a cup of hot tea she was steeping on top of the bedside drawer. She offered it to Sakura.
“I’m feeling incredibly light.” Sakura accepted the beverage and drank. “What just happened?” Her recollection of the events was fragmented. She remembered the color red flooding her senses, a bitter feeling rising up her chest. She also felt her own astral force shoot up.
Morningstar.
Someone had called her that…who was it? What did it mean?
“AH!” Sakura jolted, surprising even Haruna. The girl almost spilled her tea on the duvet. It was as if all her awareness suddenly returned. “Jurina-san? Where—is she alright?” Jurina was bleeding, the last she remembered.
Bleeding because she protected Sakura.
“Calm down, she’s fine. More importantly, are you even remotely aware of what you’ve done?” There was a warning edge in the woman’s tone as the last phrase of the sentence rolled out her tongue.
It was the first time in Sakura’s life that she felt such power flow through her veins. It terrified and thrilled her all the same.  “I felt like my aura was going to explode.”
Haruna nodded, empathizing with Sakura. “I do not know what transpired before my arrival, but rest assured we will discuss your predicament with the Headmaster.” She could only imagine how shaken Sakura was. At the back of her mind, she dreaded the sudden acceleration of the developments. Just two days in the Academy and this girl has raked in assassins inside the campus.
What have you done Headmaster? Would it all be worth it?
~*~*~*~
When Matsui Rena arrived at the Main House’s compound she was greeted by the sight of servants bowing reverently. Akane and Momoka closely followed her as they made their way through the maze-like corridors.
Despite being a Matsui herself, she had never been allowed to stay more than a night in this place. The current Matsui Manor was an architectural masterpiece by its own right, it was, after all, one of the few surviving traditional palaces in the eastern hemisphere.
At the end of the wooden corridor was a girl decked in a sea-green silk kimono, a golden pattern of a serpent was embroidered on the left chest. She had chin length hair, a dainty body structure and penetrating dark eyes. The young girl held Rena’s gaze.
“Welcome Home, Rena-sama.” Although she spoke respectfully she did not bow at all.
“It has been a while, Yurina.” Rena’s expression was unreadable as she acknowledged the younger girl. “Have you been good?”
Yurina did not break their locked gazes. “Have you?” She replied almost nonchalantly.
Before Rena could respond Jurina’s valiant form glided between them. She was still clad in her school uniform. Momoka scarcely suppressed the mixture of relief and surprise that filled her at the sight of Jurina’s completely sentient presence before them.
Rena glanced back to Jurina’s bodyguard. “I thought she wasn’t coming, Momo?”
“I changed my mind.” The Ace’s tone was clipped and cautious. There was an unspoken understanding between her and Momo as they exchanged glances before Jurina returned her gaze to Rena. In the next breath, Jurina motioned to wrap an arm around Yurina’s frail body, gently pushing the girl behind her, almost too protectively.
“You have no business with my sister, Rena.” The Matsui heir almost hissed. “Tecchi, run along.” She urged, gesturing for Yurina to take her leave, which the latter obediently did.
Rena smiled, it was a smile that scraped whatever was left of Jurina’s heart. She strode forward so that her and the blonde’s face were merely a centimeter apart. The concept of personal space between them was long forgotten. She planted a soft kiss on Jurina’s cheek.
“Did you miss me?”
Jurina’s façade was placid, a carefully constructed mask of apathy was painted across her face. She did not move an inch.
Momoka watched the two nobles pensively, her fists clenched as she waited.
Rena had a look of displeasure as she withdrew, her fingers trailed lightly on Jurina’s collar. “Tell me, why have you grown so cold-hearted?”
The blonde heiress closed her eyes; she was struggling to control her emotions. “Rena, it’s time to go. Grandfather and The Round are waiting.”  She evaded the older woman’s question. Her voice was soft, almost too affectionate than she intended.
As if on cue, Momoka took a step closer to the Ace, she held out her elbow in courtesy. Jurina linked their arms together, holding her bodyguard a bit too firmly as they took off.
Rena was left there looking at their backs; there was an indescribable weight on her chest. She made a choice, she wanted this path and yet why does Jurina’s indifference vex her so much?
~*~*~*~
The Headmaster stood in front of his large viewing window; the rose-violet hues of dusk greeted his vision. Soon, the dark of the night would fall upon the Academy. He heaved a sigh while turning back to the hunters.  “You’ve arrived at a very interesting time, Oshima, Takahashi.”
“Indeed. We were not apprised that you were harboring such a peculiar student, Miyawaki wasn’t she?” Yuko raised an eyebrow. It should have been within protocol for the Head Master of St. Hildegard Academy to communicate the discovery of Miyawaki Sakura to Central Dogma. She was, after all, a high value target.
“That girl has been presumed dead for 7 years, Headmaster. She is the only bloodline left of the Paladin—Silver. And we all know that her status is crucial not only to Central Dogma. If the prophecy is correct then her power would be beyond anything we have ever imagined..” Takamina added, somewhat trying to decipher what the Headmaster was planning.
“You do not need to remind me,” Akimoto Yasushi stressed his authority over the two women, still. Central Dogma may be the most influential organization for mages and hunters but he was still operating under the orders of the Prime Minister. He was, and will always be, beyond their reach.
“I did not inform Central Dogma of her whereabouts simply because her identity was still under confirmation.”
“Nevertheless, St. Hildegard has been breached…because of her.” Yuko emphasized the gravity of the predicament.
“Do not imply that we have lost control because you reached the distortion first. You were simply at the right place at the right time.”
Takamina could clearly sense the tension within the room build up. She took it upon herself to placate the strained atmosphere. “We apologize Headmaster, we did not mean to encroach upon your discretion. Yuko and I were just surprised.”
“Miyawaki Sakura’s circumstance is not your immediate concern for now, let’s get back to business.” The Headmaster advised.
Both hunters bowed respectfully. Takamina took a step forward; she pulled out black cards from her coat’s inner pocket. “As promised, Senbatsu Passes will be issued to the new students. The orientation for school sanctioned missions with Central Dogma will be tomorrow, Headmaster.”
“Wonderful, I trust you will handle the initiation smoothly?”
“Of course.”
~*~*~*~
Iriyama Anna, Okada Nana and Yokoyama Yui lingered in front of Sakura’s dorm room. They decided to check on the girl after Nana was able to determine that the dimensional distortion was indeed brought about by the freshman’s aura.
“Should I knock now?” Nana queried, looking to Yui for affirmation.
The Student Council President merely nodded.
Before Nana’s fist hit the wooden door she was interrupted by Sakura’s voice. “Is anything the matter?”
The three upperclassmen almost jumped out of their skins.
“Sweet Hildegard, don’t scare us like that Sakura-chan!” The prefect exclaimed.
Sakura smiled nervously. “Ah, I’m very sorry…” Her gaze fell, as if already expecting some kind of scolding from the three.
Yui held her by the shoulder to ease her up. “It’s alright, we’re just here to check on you. Naa-chan picked up your astral signature when a distortion happened earlier. Are you alright?” She was genuinely concerned. Everything about Yokoyama Yui screamed motherly devotion.
“Y-you felt that?” Sakura couldn’t hide her surprise at how perceptive her classmates were.
“Was it you? Was that your power?” Annin wasted no moment, she was eager to verify if indeed that spike of astral energy was their dunce of a classmate. It seemed she had cards hidden on her sleeve, after all.
Sakura had never been more uncertain in her life. She felt that force stir up like burning flames within her; she felt that power surge from her fingertips. But what was it? “I…don’t know…”
“Well, we can figure that out some other time. I’m glad you’re unharmed, Sakura-chan.” Nana sighed in relief.
Before anyone else could react further, Professor Shinoda’s figure emerged out of the darkness of the corridor. “Miyawaki, I need you and Matsui in my office by midnight.”
“Midnight?” Sakura repeated.
“But the curfew?” the prefect questioned.
“Lifted.”
Yui glanced at Sakura and then back at their Professor, every fiber of her being screamed that there was something amiss in all this.
“Understood, professor.”
~*~*~*~
Footsteps echoed inside the throne room, the pillars were decorated with gold and rubies while the arches of the grand hall had floral frescoes embossed on them. Shadows danced across the room as light from the candelabras flickered.
The masked woman called Rie strode towards the throne, her unnamed partner was just a few steps behind. Rie briefly glanced at the girl who saved her life. “I would appreciate it if you do not bring up the mishap earlier.”  Her voice was soft, her words fading like a fleeting whisper. There was no hiding that she was afraid of being reprimanded by their master.
The girl clad in the crane-patterned kimono grinned, “As you wish.” It was difficult to decipher the sincerity in her words, she had a Cheshire grin—big, highly amused but her eyes were empty.
Upon reaching the throne, the maidens bowed on one knee. “Master, we have returned.” Said Rie.
“Without the girl.” A woman’s voice sliced through the air around them like a knife. Their master’s black robes were intricately embroidered with golden lotus flowers, the trails of her obi pooled on the floor like abysmal pits. A black headdress obscured her face, soft tulle falling to her shoulders and chest.  She held a kunai impaled on the wooden throne, her long fingernails were akin to a demon’s claws.
“Master, there were hunters from Central Dogma; it was beyond our calculations. Moreover, the Matsui heir was with her when she awakened, we did not want to compromise the deal.”
“Kitahara Rie-san, Ogino Yuka-san…I need that girl and you will give her to me.”

''I hate it her, I just want to go home. This place isn't and will never be my home!'' My original jiangshi character: Akane Ogino, frustrated and at the edge of despair. She was bullied on her first day in Gugong City. Just bullied away from her classroom. Normally she would beat up those nullies but after a promise with a friend of hers wich Akane isn't allowed to go into fights. Akane feels the despair she hadn't felt for a while. Akane doens't belong her, she wanted to return to her own world to her own friends and family but she can't. She can't go back, because she died and is turned into a jiangshi spirit by her new master in order to save her: Mr. Jiangshi. I think this piece turned out pretty well. But it took ages to do the background. The Chinese text translate to: ''Gugong: Angel street'' and below is: ''District Eighteen'' The symbol 二 (Means two) Doens't hae a meaning on the sign. A jiangshi is a chinese hopping vampire/ zombie

Your Lie in April [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aL0gDZtFbE[/embedyt] Your Lie in April menjadi salah satu anime sedih terlaris sepanjang masa karena didalamnya memuat cerita tentang cinta dan persahabatan yang berlatar belakang musik. BECAUSE I’M NOT POPULAR, I’LL READ WATAMOTE: CHAPTER #157
And now for something entirely different.
For the first time in the entire series, we have a chapter in which Tomoko Kuroki is completely absent. For a series whose initial premise was so dependent on having Tomoko as the solitary focus, it really speaks volumes that the side characters can now carry the series on their own. Of course, it wouldn’t be Watamote if Tomoko wasn’t there in some way, shape or form, and as we see today, her spirit lives on in rest of the Watamote Crew.
Chapter 157: Because I’m Not Popular, I’m Suspended
Tumblr media
I really dig the hatching in this opening shot. It automatically gives you the sense that this is a retroactive moment and that Tomoko will be MIA until further notice.
Tumblr media
And just as we already knew, Tomoko and Yoshida got busted.
I’ve noticed quite a few people criticize this school policy, claiming that’s it’s unreasonable for the “crime”. My assumption is that riding a motor scooter reflects poorly on the school, which its students are supposed to represent with “proper” behavior. While I don’t think it’s really a justified punishment, I don’t think it’s necessarily an unjustified punishment either. Dissecting the reason would mean pulling apart much about Japanese cultural values, and this ain’t the place for that.
Tumblr media
This, on the other hand, seems a teeensy bit excessive. But that’s just me.
Tumblr media
Naturally, Komiyama takes this as an opportunity to validate her less-than-savory impression of Tomoko. Gotta eat up those friend-of-a-friend brownie points.
Tumblr media
The true endgame of this series is when Tomoko and Komiyama call each other “friend.”
Tumblr media
Blatant disregard of sensei’s instructions? Looks like Yuri’s the next to join the new delinquent posse after Tomoko and Yoshida.
But on that note, I really do enjoy that Yuri cares enough about her buddies to break the rules. She’s always been an obedient student overall, but I always had this inkling that Yuri wasn’t really a goody-two-shoes. Rebels gotta stick together.
Tumblr media
And Tomoko’s (and Yoshida’s) reputation continues to brew. And through the semi-popular kids at that. If nothing else, Tomoko is going to leave school known as the “Weird Kid” that everyone admires.
I now wonder just how much these guys knew about Tomoko and Yoshida’s friendship? I’d imagine that this whole suspension might actually paint the two as BFFs in everyone’s eyes.
Lastly, I wonder what was the manga Tomoko and Yoshida were reading? Maybe a sequel to “A Happy Cat”?
Tumblr media
Can I get a Prison School shoutout, anybody?
Tumblr media
Yup, like I said. Everyone knows about that “Weird Kid” in high school who did stupid stuff, but you couldn’t help but admire them for having the nerve to do it. Nemo may give Tomoko a lot of shit sometimes, but to some degree, I think she wishes she could be like her.
Tumblr media
Girl’s itching for her Kuroki-Kimoi fix.
Tumblr media
Perhaps someone can enlighten me, but are Japanese shoe lockers really left unlocked? I mean, you see it all the time in manga–how else would the love interest send letters/chocolate to their crush?–but I’d like to to know if there’s any truth to that.
Tumblr media
If Ucchi really was getting ready to confess apologize, then I gotta hand it to her. It took her a lot faster to get to that point than I thought she would.
Unfortunately, the universe discriminates against emojis, and when they flippantly confront a random girl to inquire about their obsession, you know a blast of karma is heading their way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Counseling Room, huh? For those who’re uninitiated like me, that’s supposedly where they keep the suspended students to do their schoolwork and reflect on their actions.
In Ucchi’s eyes, however, it’s the higher beings keeping her from her beloved.
Tumblr media
Sorry, Ucchi, but you gotta work on your “Uwaaaah!”s. Maybe you ought to get some pointers from Komiyama.
More and more, Ucchi’s cries of despair get even more absurd. And more and more, I wonder how she justifies it in that head of hers.
Tumblr media
Aw damn, is it that same dude that criticized Tomoko for supposedly almost falling into a ravine? And on film, too? Bro needs to take a chill pill.
Tumblr media
That seems to be the food for thought amongst the student body these days.
Tumblr media
Is it wrong that I laughed at Katou’s very obvious face of absolute boredom? You can just feel the Tomoko withdrawal symptoms destroying her from the inside.
I used to be pretty ambivalent about her increasing affection to Tomoko, but these more humanizing moments make me grow fonder about their relationship.
Tumblr media
Fuuka’s never gonna let this one die, is she?
Tumblr media
That’s basically the exact same thing that Tomoko said to Fuuka, wasn’t it? Shoot, gotta had another tally to the “Tomoko-Katou ship is actually kind of cute” chart.
Tumblr media
At this point, she and Okada need to start a support group for the Tomoko-challenged.
I gotta say, I fully expected Tomoko to be hypocritical enough to deny Fuuka an answer, but not Katou. More than anybody else, it feels like nobody, not even her closest friends, really understand who Katou is. I’m counting the chapters to the day it all comes to blows.
Tumblr media
So close, and yet so far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back to fill the void with the ol’ earbuds, huh, Yuri?
Tumblr media
Well, Tomoko is perpetually tired, but I’d imagine suspension isn’t doing her any favors. A loner Tomoko may be, being locked up for a week in pseudo-solitary confinement (with Yoshida, no less) is bound to lead to some cabin fever.
Tumblr media
I think the old Tomoko would brag about it before the fact, but after experiencing it, she'd take it back after realizing that suspension actually kind of sucks.
In old news: Yuu is a sweetheart and deserves the world.
Tumblr media
Ah, Komi. I can't tell if you're ignorant, in denial, or just being a bitch, but your delusions of grandeur towards Tomoki never fail to amuse me.
Tumblr media
It took me a while to realize that we were going over several days throughout this chapter. The time transitions are just that subtle, and I'm pretty sure that was intentional in order to emphasize how Tomoko's absence is really screwing with everyone’s sense of time.
Tumblr media
Is this the first time anyone other than Minami has acknowledged Ucchi's lack of a face? Alright, Minami, you win this one.
Also, this is so going to add fuel to the fire on those NSFW headcanons about Mako and Minami’s "pet play" relationship.
Tumblr media
Wow. When she says it like that, it puts Minami in an almost sympathetic light. Curse that endearing dependency of hers.
Tumblr media
I see that Okada’s infamous shut-her-down moment from the field trip has left some after effects. If nothing else, Fang Girl knows when to fold ‘em.
Tumblr media
Obvious imagery aside, I do like that they include Yoshida as one of the “loud” ones in the class. She’s definitely more of the “in-your-face” type of loud, while Tomoko is mostly loud in presence, and it really drives home just how extra loud the two are when together.
Tumblr media
A wild Hirasawa appeared!
Tumblr media
Somewhere underneath Yuri’s veil of apathy is a very particular layer of empathy. That being, her affection for Tomoko. Yuri may get jealous of other girls, but she can understand how it feels to have an attachment to someone, and when she recognizes that in someone else, that’s when she’ll go the extra mile.
Even she can’t abandon an underclassman all by their lonesome.
Tumblr media
That said, it wouldn’t be Yuri if flashes of green didn’t flicker in her eyes at times.
Tumblr media
Then that green turns into...whatever color is usually associated with begrudging respect.
Tumblr media
Aw damn, this is going to be one of those heartwarmingly bittersweet endings, isn’t it?
Tumblr media
Continuity porn.
Tumblr media
Okay, ya’ll, but that glimmer of hope in Yuri’s slightly widened eyes is just golden. I hereby put this at the top of my “Top 5 Purest Moments in Watamote” List.
Tumblr media
You know, if this were earlier in the series–as in, before Nemo opened up to Yuri–this would come off as pretty mean in the context of the plot, even if it really isn’t. It’s still trollish in a way that only Nemo can, but it feels like a genuine offer of friendship now that we’ve seen these two slowly come closer together. And if slice-of-life manga has taught me anything, it’s that walking home from school together is the Friendship Rite of Passage.
I’m sure Yuri’s first instinct was to punch her out, but hey, any reaction is a good reaction.
Tumblr media
Actual proof that Tomoko has temporal powers that allow her to accelerate the passage of time at a rate that’s proportional to her exuding weirdness.
Or, you know, they all just miss her.
Tumblr media
If there’s one thing that this series has taught me, it’s that the most wonderful of friendships can start with a mere coincidence.
At the start of Watamote, I never would’ve thought that the series could hold its own without Tomoko. And yet here we are. Gone are the days where the cast was just her, Tomoki, and Yuu. The cast has expanded exponentially since then, and their stories are all rich enough to headline their own series. But no matter how far the web grows, it always comes back to Tomoko. Even with Main Character Privilege, her existence is the glue that binds everyone together. And while this chapter gave us a unique insight on favorite characters, it also gave us a chance to see an alternate reality where Tomoko (and Yoshida) don’t exist.
And as expected, it’s a dull, dull world.
