DAY 5216
Jalsa, Mumbai May 25/26, 2022 Wed/Thu 12:55 AM
❤️ May 26 .. birthday .. Ef Rasika Pawar Shashikant from UAE .. and .. Ef Jaspreet Singh .. greetings on your special day .. and the goodness of happiness and blessings .. love .. and Sat Sri Akaal .. 🙏🏻🌿
the new Mac Book pro laptop that was bought with great expectation and promise has proved to be a disaster for me .. so I have with great pride gone back to my previous Mac Book Pro ..
Long may the life of Apple be .. and may the half eaten morsel that adorns the brand be filled with the earnest adage of
‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’ .. for, each hour and day the experts and the technicians that design and produce the product work meticulously to make sure the brand keeps its lead in the convenience of those that contribute to it ..
And now we hear that another newer version be launched in July or was it August .. and may the God’s at the silicon be in the best of health to give its followers .. their multitudinous Ef’s , the ability to love and appreciate this fresh out burst out of the oven product ...
so to divert .. nothing like a picture ..
.. its the prep rehearsals for the new KBC .. and the ’mocks’ as they are called be in progress on its first day, on the sets of the Marathi KBC .. next door ..
and the changes be discussed and exercised and practised and introduced to us all .. by the dedicated set of the team that has remained with me for almost 22 years of the existence of this small screen endeavour ..
some languid , lazy , unkempt and wonder looked air of ‘what the heck’ .. but eventually all settled and in order ..
the growth though is for the coming up shoot for another small appearance in a film that is being made simultaneously with the one in Rishikesh ..
at times it becomes imperative to give in to the good that abounds about .. than the evil that lurks within .. may it never show its ugly face again ..
discord can be discussed .. it can become cordless if the discuss is made irrelevant .. not by your choice but by the doing of the other ..
कहने की सीमा होती है , सहने की सीमा होती है ;
कुछ मेरे भी वश में , कुछ सोच समझ अपमान करो मेरा !
and no there is no great pending or active insult that has been initiated towards .. just at times there are and is the need to speak it out ..
naaah .. that sound terrible .. no the speak it out is wrong .. spoken would deviate from the reason .. and the reason shall ever appear , whenever and wherever .. there is no need to extenuate it ..
hence ..
good bye

Namaste! How else should I begin this post!
The greeting is the first thing that you learn about a place. It is the first thing that you get to hear in your flight, at the airport, in the taxi and of course at the travel destinations. Greeting from your homeland is also something you carry with you.
Namaste is the most commonly used greeting in India. Very often, when people realize you are an Indian, they fold hands and greet you with a Namaste.
However, when nothing in India is universal, how can our greetings be. Here is a list of some of the commonly used greetings across India.
Thanks to my Twitter and FB timeline for adding to this list. I knew most of them, but some of them like Dhaal Karu from Himachal was a revelation for me.
Researching for this post was absolute fun.
1. Namaste & its Variants
Namaste means ‘I bow to the divine in you’. Ask any Hippie and they would even say ‘The divine in me bows to the divine in you’.
The term has many variants – Namaskar, which is ideally used when you address more than one person.
In Kerala it becomes Namaskaram, in Karnataka it goes as Namaskara and in Andhra states Namaskaramu.
Nepal also uses the same term or Namaskar to greet.
They all mean the same – acknowledging the divine or good in you before any conversation or transaction begins.
2. Ram Ram & its variants
After the more popular Namaste greeting, Ram Ram and its various variants are used in most of the Hindi speaking belt to greet each other. In Awadh and Mithila you hear Sita Ram, Sita Ram. At areas of Bihar and Jharkhand, it becomes Jai Siya Ram. In Haryana, it is usually Ram Ram.
The idea behind this greeting to remember Sri Ram who is the 7th Avatar of Vishnu. Considered Maryada Purushottam, it is probably a way to remind each other and oneself to follow his conduct.
3. Jai Sri Krishna in Gujarat
If you have traveled in Gujarat, interacted with Gujarati families or even watched Gujarati content on TV, you know they all greet each other with ‘Jai Sri Krishna‘.
Krishna chose to make Dwarka his golden city, he ruled the world from here and continues to rule the hearts of the people of Gujarat.
In Dwarka, the greeting becomes more specific to – Jai Dwarkadhish.
4. Radhe Radhe in Braj Bhumi
In Braj, Radha rules. She is the queen and she is the Gopika. To reach Krishna too, you have to go through her. You don’t need to read or know anything about her. Just land anywhere in Braj and ‘Radhe Radhe‘ is not just a greeting but it means excuse me, leave my way, an exclamation and anything that does not need other words.
Jai Sri Radhe is a variant that you hear in temples of Braj sometimes.
5. Sat Sri Akaal in Punjab
A common greeting among Sikhs and Punjabis is Sat Sri Akaal. Sat means Truth, Sri is a respectful honorific and Akaal means timeless. So, you are essentially remembering the Timeless Truth or that Truth is Timeless and resides within all of us.
Sat Sri Akaal is a part of the clarion call given by Guru Gobind Singh – Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akaal.
Another longer greeting is ‘Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh‘ – it is a reminder that all of us come from that one supreme being which is pure and at the end that is what remains.
6. Vanakkam – Tamil Nadu
Vanakkam is used by Tamil people living anywhere in the world. Essentially it means the same as Namaste. It is bowing down to or respecting the divine inside you. It comes from the root word – Vanagu meaning to bow down. Some literature mentions that Vanakkam specifically refers to the divine at the third eye located between your brows.
7. Khamma Ghani – Rajasthan
I first heard Khamma Ghani in some Hindi films based in Rajasthan. Next, I heard it during my visit to Udaipur. In my mind, it got associated with Rajasthan, but no one could explain what it meant. Now, I have two theories for this:
First is simple – Khamma comes from Sanskrit Kshama meaning forgiveness. Ghani means ‘a lot’. So, the greeting Khamma Ghani simply means – seeking forgiveness for any inadvertent hurt that may have been done or any lapses in hospitality.
The second source one is more historical – in 8th CE AD, 3 successive Mewari Kings, sharing the common name Khumaan, averted many attacks by Arabs. Due to this, the people in their kingdom lived happily for the next 1000 years or so. So, people started greeting each other ‘Khamma Ghani’ meaning ‘May we be blessed with many Khumaans’.
Take your pick for the meaning but when people say it with folded hands – it is a sweet greeting to exchange.
When used with elders Sa is added at the end – Khamma Ghani Sa.
8. Jule – Ladakh
When you travel through the Lahaul Spiti Valley in Himachal or do road trips in Ladakh, you are bound to be greeted with ‘Jule’, pronounced as Joo-Lay. It is a greeting mostly used by Buddhist dominated areas of the Himalayan valleys. It probably means ‘Respect’. I am not sure what it means and what is the root word. If you know, please share.
Just like Radhe Radhe, Jule too can mean thank you, please, excuse me or just Hello.
Tashi Delek is also used in some places.
9. Jai Jinendra – Jains across India
Jai Jinendra is used by all Jains to greet each other. We do not hear it very much as the Jains are a very small minority even within India and they usually use it among themselves only.
Jai Jinendra means victory to Jinendra or the Tirthankar, the souls who have won over their all their senses and have realized the ultimate knowledge.
This greeting directly bows downs to those who have real knowledge.
10. Swami Sharanam by followers of Ayyappa
Swami Sharanam or Swami Sharnam Ayyappa is actually a chant that is also used as a greeting by followers of Ayyappa when they meet each other. They start and end the conversation with this chant. Ayyappa followers are found in Kerala and all other south Indian states.
11. Aadab – Muslims primarily
Aadab is used to greet by followers of Islam and in places where Urdu is spoken. Could not find the meaning or intent of the word. If you know, please share.
12. Dhaal Karu in Himachal
This is another greeting from Himachal, though I will be honest, I am yet to hear it. However, my Himachali friends confirm this is used in Kullu Manali region of the state. The meaning is most probably similar to Namaste.
13. Narmade Har – On banks of Narmada
When you walk with the Narmada, the most common greeting you would hear is ‘Narmade Har’ – may the Narmada take away all your sorrows and sufferings.
Har Har Gange is also heard at places like Rishikesh, Prayagraj, and Varanasi, but not so consistently.
14. Jai Jai – Bikaner
During a trip to Bikaner, I heard the hotel greet us with ‘Jai Jai’. When I inquired, they said, this is how Bikaner greets people. I have not heard it outside the hotel, but it sounds very sweet, royal and full of Veer Rasa or emotion of bravery.
15. Pranam – for the elders
This is an India wide greeting used by the younger people to greet the elders. More often than not, it is complemented by touching the feet.
16. Region-based Greetings
Jai Bhole Nath – Varanasi. The city of Shiva has to have a greeting with his name
Jai Jagannath in Puri and around Odisha
and more
Jai Shri Mahakal in Ujjain
Jai Sri Radhe Govind in Jaipur
17. Hello
Hello is not really an Indian greeting but probably the most used, especially on phone and in urban areas. Before writing this post I had no idea about the origins of the word ‘Hello’, although we used it so many times every day. Apparently, it is not a greeting per se but a way of drawing attention. Another contender for this is Ahoy.
Read this shockingly Short History of Hello.
Hi, it seems is the shortened version of Hello.
18. Good Morning
Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening or Good Night is the neutral or should I say secular ways to greet anyone. I think I picked it up in school and continued using it till my corporate life. The Good Morning though got reduced to just Morning 🙂
19. Jai Jhulelal
Jai Jhulelal is used by the Sindhi community. Jhulelal is supposed to be the incarnation of Varun, the lord of the seas.
20. Jai Mata Di
It is used by the followers of the Devi or the divine feminine. Mata here refers to Jagadamba or the mother who is the creator, sustainer, and destroyer of everything that exists in this universe.
21. Ayubowan in Sri Lanka
Ayubowan in Sri Lanka comes from Sanskrit – Ayushman Bhava which means ‘May you have a long life’.
22. Sawasdee in Thailand
Sawasdee, the ubiquitous greeting of Thailand, also said with folded hands from Swasti which means wishing well.
All the greetings that have an origin in India or Sanskrit are said with folded hands formally, although informally sometimes you just say them.

Shehnaaz Gill opens up on bond with Sidharth Shukla: ‘He was my everything in Bigg Boss 13’ - tv
https://liveindiatimes.com/shehnaaz-gill-opens-up-on-bond-with-sidharth-shukla-he-was-my-everything-in-bigg-boss-13-tv/
Punjabi actor-singer Shehnaaz Gill’s bond with television actor Sidharth Shukla in Bigg Boss 13 was one of the highlights of the show. Fans were rooting for them to get together in real life as well, and began trending #SidNaaz on Twitter.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shehnaaz said that her equation with Sidharth is unchanged. “Jo mera bond tha, jaise Bigg Boss mein tha, abhi bhi waisa hi hai. Main chahti hoon ki woh waisa hi bana rahe. Miss kyun karna? Phone pe baat karti hoon, laga leti hoon main jab bhi miss karti hoon (Whatever our bond was in Bigg Boss, it is the same even now. I want it to remain like this forever. Why should I miss him? I talk to him on the phone, I give him a call whenever I miss him),” she said, adding that she has met him once or twice after Bigg Boss 13.
When asked why fans love her chemistry with Sidharth, Shehnaaz said that her world revolved around him in Bigg Boss 13. “Bigg Boss mein bhi jab thi, main kabhi uske liye fake nahi rahi (I have never been fake towards him on Bigg Boss),” she said, adding, “Koi bhi baat na meri ghoom-ghumake wahaan pe hi aati thi, ki yeh kya kar raha hai (Every time, it would always come back to him and what he was doing).”
Shehnaaz explained that most of her actions were a reaction to what Sidharth was doing. “‘Isne aise kiya? Achcha, ab main aise karungi.’ Matlab mera sab kuch wohi tha Bigg Boss mein (‘Oh, he did this? Now I will do this.’ He was my everything in Bigg Boss),” she said.

Shehnaaz starred in music videos such as Majhe Di Jatti, Pindaan Diyan Kudiyaan and Yeah Baby Refix before making her big screen debut with the Punjabi film Sat Shri Akaal England. She shot to fame with Bigg Boss 13, where her fun and vivacious personality earned her the nickname of ‘entertainment queen’.
After Bigg Boss 13, Shehnaaz was a part of the reality show Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, in which she was to find herself a husband. However, she claimed that she was in love with Sidharth and could not forge a connection with any of her suitors. Colors TV pulled the plug on the show midway due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Sidharth and Shehnaaz then came together for the music video of Bhula Dunga, which got a lot of love from fans. She will also be seen in the music video of Punjabi actor-singer Jassie Gill’s Keh Gayi Sorry. While their collaboration was announced during the lockdown and a teaser was released, the video is yet to be shot.

“I Should Apologize To People For Not Living Up To The Expectations ” – Says Aamir Khan Regarding Failure Of His Last Movie Thugs Of Hindustan
Last time, Aamir Khan has been seen in multi-starrer Thugs of Hindostan from Yash Raj. In this movie, he has shared screen with Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Right now, he is busy with the shoots of Laal Singh Chaddha where he will be seen with Kareena Kaoor Khan after 3Idiots and Talaash. Recently, Dangal actor has shared the first look poster from the movie also. In this movie, Aamir Khan will be seen as a Sikh sardar. So, he says with the poster “Sat Sri Akaal ji, myself Laal…Laal Singh Chaddha.”
During a chat with the media, he has been asked about insecurities on watching several movies from an actor in a year. In reply, Aamir Khan has said that he is happy for his colleagues who have been doing great work on celluloid. As an audience, he likes to see them onscreen time and again. On the occasion, he has also mentioned about Ayushmann Khurrana as he has been doing amazing job. According to Aamir, everyone has their unique qualities. Therefore, there are no threats at all.
Regarding failure of Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir has told us, “Actually, it’s not being kind enough. I’ve always felt responsible for my work, but for the last 18-19 years, I didn’t have a film that didn’t do well, so that’s why people might have felt I was doing this for the first time. And especially because it was a much-awaited film; people had high expectations, so I was very sorry, hurt and upset that we went wrong. I felt emotionally that I should address it and apologise to people for not living up to the expectations.”
On the lesson learnt from this failure, Aamir Khan has said “The maximum you learn is from your unsuccessful films. Failure teaches you the most. I’ve learnt many lessons but I’m not sure if I should share those publicly; that’s something I should discuss with my team.”
Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan will release on Christmas, 2020 and it is directed by Advait Chandan.

Aamir Khan is unrecognisable in leaked new look from Laal Singh Chaddha, see pics - bollywood
Trust Aamir Khan to surprise and shock fans with every single film he does. Weeks after sharing the first look of his upcoming film, Laal Singh Chaddha in the avatar of a genial Sikh, a new picture from a location shoot in Jaisalmer has emerged online that will shock you. Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of Hollywood classic, Forrest Gump, which starred Tom Hanks in the lead role. At the most pivotal moment of the movie, Forrest Gump embarks on a run across the country and does it at least four times. This seems to be Aamir shooting for the iconic scene. With his hair and beard left loose and with a tan to boot, Aamir looks brawny and travel-worn. He is wearing a cap and has an unkempt appearance. His dress too, in various shades of grey, looks as though he has been travelling great miles, without rest or a wash. While some reiterated his ‘Mr Perfectionist’ tag, others showered praises on him for his dedication. Some predicted that the film is going to be a Rs 400 crore affair in profits. In mid November, Aamir had shared the first look of his character and introduced him to the world. Posting a picture of himself in a lilac Sikh turban, a pink check shirt and grey trousers, he had written: “Sat Sri Akaal ji, myself Laal...Laal Singh Chaddha.” The innocence on his face is pretty obvious. Also read: Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif share emotional posts on death of makeup artist Subbu, call him ‘maestro’ The film will see Kareena Kapoor in a prominent role. The entire team had been stationed in Chandigarh for a 20-day long shoot last month. Some pictures of Aamir and Kareena from the film’s shoot made their way to the internet. Kareena too was seen in a rather plain Jane avatar, in a pink kurta, off white salwar and purple dupatta. After the debacle of Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir had announced his new project on his birthday in March this year. The film has been adapted for Indian audience by actor Atul Kulkarni and is being directed by Advait Chandan, better known for his hit film, Secret Superstar. DAY 4097
Jalsa, Mumbai May 27, 2019 Mon 10:52 PM
I saw him for the first time on the sands of Pochina, a small village in the Rajasthan desert, a 2 hour wild drive from the city of Jaisalmer, where I had just arrived along with some of the other members of the film on shoot , my second film ‘Reshma aur Shera’ ..
The legendary Action Master and Director, Khanna Saheb was conducting a dummy rehearsal for the scenario which involved Sunil Dutt Saheb the leading man of the film, being beaten up by the negative character of the village .. and he was demonstrating the action on a stand in for the leading man ..
The negative character was beating the leading man with a thin whip like stick, and the leading man was taking it all in and not retaliating ..
Khanna Saheb was using a stand in for the leading man and was renowned for his authenticity when conducting stunts .. he was lashing the stand in, whip like and with each lash I could see the pain and agony on the stand ins face, but he continued to complete the scene dummy rehearsal, to perfection ..
The stand in getting the lashing was Veeru Devgan ..
This morning we lost him ..
Veeru Devgan .. action director and co ordinator extraordinaire .. who from those humble beginnings as a stand in stuntman, went on to become one of the most prominent Action Directors of the film industry .. who brought in innovative action sequences and executed them to perfection .. who created job opportunities for innumerable stuntmen to work with him in his action team - many of whom in the years to come became independent action directors and Producers of film ; Veeru ji himself maturing on to becoming a Producer Director .. and most importantly raised, groomed and gave to the industry, another fine talent - Ajay Devgan , his son !
Veeru ji and I came close .. we worked together in most of my films where he did the action .. his team was one happy lot, ever smiling ever helpful ever servile to their master ..
Veeru ji himself was a learner each day .. no matter what the circumstances he was always keen to learn camera positions, operations, lenses ; at times knowing more about them than the DOP themselves .. and ever keen to operate the camera himself ..
He took in his roots from Punjab with earnest and dedication .. and knowing my antecedents , would on my arrival on set greet me with ..
‘Amitabh Singhya ..!!! pronounced in the typical Punjabi style .. Amitabh Sinyaan .. Followed by ..’jo bole so nihal sat sri akaal’
A gentle caring human .. ready to help another in any situation .. warm, receptive .. and proud of his progeny Ajay who he used to bring along on set often when he was a kid ..
He had been ailing, but within control .. his death came as a sudden shock on the sets of Chehre .. I stopped work, made an announcement held a minutes silence to honour him and continued work .. he would have wanted it that way .. !
After the work was over I went to the cremation ..
... time and moments flash by .. occasions when there was work interspaced with the laughter and humour that Veeru ji and his team invented .. teasing a fellow stuntman .. urging one of them to go for a rather difficult stunt .. coaxing me with confident goading of high cheer to do it, because he felt it could be done by me .. such times go by and never return .. and the memories are fresh as yesterday ..
You sit in front of the burning pyre .. and wait for the dust of the ash to be collected .. and the visuals of the dear ones gone by, flash .. Babuji , Maaji ..
... and tomorrow is another day .. and another work
