Wanna talk a little bit about your favourite little guy?
Always! :-D
This is Helios, the world's most pathetic guy:
Tumblr media
A summary of his lore is under the cut.
He has no luck and is cursed with being my favorite OC ...which means I put him through The Horrors™ all the time. He is a small helicopter built for reconnaissance and his Earth alt mode would be an Airbus H135 (formerly known as the Eurocopter EC135).
There are two versions of him (actually, it's three but the first one has become irrelevant): one is the main character of my original Brave (Yuusha) story and the other is a side character in my little TF fan continuity, but he gets treated like a main character by pretty much everyone who knows about him.
His Brave version works for the Space Police Organization and it's his job to capture his former coworker Ironwing who has stolen secret files. After his brother died, he buried himself in his work to forget about the loneliness and misery if even for a while. Helios was given a new mission and a ragtag team of misfits to command. They had to hunt down Ironwing and his team, but that would prove a challenge.
In TF, he was Ambulon once. Then he crossed paths with Proteus and angered him on accident. As it turns out, the senator was so furious that he ordered him to be reframed. With his memories erased and spark planted into a new body, Helios of Polyhex was forced to work for Proteus as his in-house executioner, assassin, guard - if it sounds edgy: you name it, he has done it - and most importantly, Helios was his personal scapegoat.
When he first left the assembly line, he was told that Aegis was his brother (but they are not spark-related) and that if he didn't adhere to his employer's wishes, Aegis would have to suffer for it. However, Aegis was murdered and this made Helios realize that they were not related in any way, and yet he did not seize the opportunity to rid Cybertron of Proteus, nor did he flee.
If he had left, they would have found another poor mech to do his job and they would have ruined their life too.
And so he stayed.
Then the war broke out and Proteus and his subordinates left the planet before the situation escalated and they roamed the universe until one day Helios was sent down to a planet's surface to search for possible Energon substitution. While he was away, Decepticons attacked their ship and killed everyone on board, leaving him stranded on the alien planet which just happens to be Earth. A human rescue team found him and let him stay with them in exchange for his service as a rescue helicopter.
The thing is, he can't fly.
His original contract had a pointless "no flying during working hours" rule that prevented him from ever taking off (because he was always on duty). Due to underuse, the moving parts in his rotor hub become stuck and corrode which damages it beyond repair. No one has the necessary parts for a replacement and while Earth technology is advanced enough to replicate his hub, they are unable to connect it to his systems.
He helped them out in root mode instead.
One day, a neutral ship, the Stellar Observatory, landed nearby and its crew picked up Helios' signal, following it to the hangar he called his home and offered him to join them on their way back to Cybertron - where the war had just ended.
As their new pilot he finally has the chance to experience what it feels like to be respected and loved. And I ship him with Nightjet (the ship's head of security) and Ironwing (one of the Cybertronians who worked as enforcers for the Galactic Council). The three of them make a nice polycule. So soft. *sighs*
I think that's it for now.

Russian Su-57 fighter gets new compact air-to-air missile with a range of 300 km
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 10/31/2023 - 08:42am Military
The Russian Su-57 fighter was equipped with a new long-range in-fuseling cruise missile, the RVV-BD – R-37M, designed to fit comfortably at the bottom of the stealth aircraft.
A informed source revealed to RIA Novosti that the missile is smaller in size compared to the "classic" cruise missiles, specifically adapted for the in-casting compartment. Although the exact specifications of the missile remain undisclosed, it has a range comparable to the cruise missiles of the strategic bombers Tu-160 and Tu-95MS. This size reduction was achieved through the incorporation of a folding wing, a new small bypass turbojet engine and an impeccably refined design.
Tumblr media
New missiles for the Su-57 have been in development for some time, gradually increasing the aircraft's arsenal. At the end of August of this year, reports emerged that the fighter would soon receive a long-range missile capable of hitting high-speed air threats up to 300 km away, presumably the long-range guided air-to-air missile RVV-BD - R-37M.
Speculation surrounds the potential adaptation of the R-37M missile system, already integrated into the Su-57 fighter. This advanced variant of the 1989 R-37 missile system can hit high and low altitude targets at distances greater than 300 kilometers. Notably, this missile technology is also expected to extend to the Su-35.
The R-37M, also known as RVV-BD (Long Range Air-Air Air missile) can reach hypersonic speeds. It will be used by modernized MiG-31BM interceptors, Su-35S and Su-57 multifunctional fighters. This missile is capable of reaching altitudes ranging from 15 to 25,000 meters, guided semi-actively or actively by the Agat 9B-1388 system.

Prince William took to social media to kick off the weekend with a piece of good news about a cause close to his heart.
On Aug. 9, William, 42, penned a personal message celebrating London’s Air Ambulance Charity achieving its fundraising goal for two new Airbus H135 helicopters.
“Fantastic news! This is going to have a life-saving impact,” William wrote on X, reposting the initial announcement from the charity he has backed as a patron since 2020.
“A huge thank you to everyone who donated,” he continued, adding a helicopter emoji and signing the post “W.” The heir to the throne and his wife, Kate Middleton, are known to use the initials of their first names as shorthand on social media to indicate that messages are coming directly from them.

Iranian army demonstrates new kamikazes drones with 1 kg warhead
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 10/30/2023 - 14:00 in Military
The Iranian Army presented two new stray ammunition, Sina and Fateh, armed with warheads weighing between 300 and 1,000 grams, during the Eqtedar 1402 military exercises that began on October 27 in the general area of Nasrabad, in Isfahan, in central Iran.
These advanced kamikaze drones successfully demonstrated their skills by reaching designated targets, the Iranian state media reported.
The mobile assault units of the ground forces effectively employed the Sina and Fateh drones to attack stationary and mobile targets within a 10-kilometer radius. These suicide drones are designed for use in ground combat against various types of targets and have an operational autonomy of 10 to 15 minutes.
Tumblr media
What sets Sina and Fateh drones apart is their intelligent guidance system, which allows them to track their targets from launch to impact. During the Eqtedar 1402 exercises, these drones were put to the test for the first time and effectively destroyed the intended targets.
Tumblr media
In addition, during the second day of the Eqtedar exercises, the Ababil-4 drones demonstrated their capabilities by dropping Qaem-5 bombs at ground targets. These drones dropped vertical bombs on enemy positions, accurately reaching designated locations within a range of 7 kilometers. Flying a distance of 60 kilometers and traveling more than 50 kilometers to reach the exercise site, the Ababil-4 drones demonstrated accuracy.
Tumblr media
Another highlight of the military exercises was the Mohajer 6 drone, which conducted an offensive operation in Nasrabad, Isfahan. This drone, equipped with a dual-beam laser-guided missile launcher, identified target areas and effectively attacked fixed ground targets with vertical bombs.
Tumblr media
In terms of missile capabilities, Iranian military experts have extended the range of the ground and air versions of the Dehlaviyeh missile from 5.5 kilometers to 8 kilometers. Notably, the Dehlaviyeh missile launcher was recently integrated into the Army Ground Force's M113 armored personnel transport vehicles.
Tumblr media
The Eqtedar 1402 exercises also witnessed the launch of the aerial version of the Shafaq missile, which is supposed to be carrying a 50-kg warhead at a maximum speed of Mach 2.2, with a destruction range of up to 20 kilometers.
In addition, the Almas missile, developed in-house, paired with an automatic fire control system, was presented for its ability to hit several targets in a range of 8 kilometers. The aerial version of the Almas missile was demonstrated in Bell Cobra 209 helicopters and combat drones.

Pratt & Whitney Canada today congratulated the Swiss Air Force for achieving 200,000 flight hours on its fleet of 45 PW206B2 engines, powering 19 Airbus H135 helicopters. Pratt & Whitney is an RTX business. The PW200 engine family was among the first helicopter engines to have an integrated digital data capability. This powerful feature has been constantly expanded and enhanced with every new iteration of the engine. More than 6,000 PW200 engines have been delivered with over 4,500 still in service. The PW200 engine fleet has exceeded 16.5 million engine flying hours. Pratt & Whitney powers many vital aircraft in the Swiss Air Force’s fleet. For example, the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A turboprop engine powers the Pilatus PC-6, de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter, Pilatus PC-7 and Pilatus PC-21 aircraft used for military training and aerobatic display. Later this decade, the Swiss Air Force is scheduled to begin receiving a fleet of F-35 fighter jets powered by the F135 engine.
