Cant go to sleep cause i heard a military plane flying overhead a while ago and now i'm stalking it on the flight radar app. They keep flying the same route over and over again. 1st of all - annoying cause theyre loud, 2nd of all - creeps me out, 3rd of all - i need to know what time they get to fly back and go to bed so now i can't do anything else

Last month, the U.S. military released a photo of an EA-18G Growler that showed a specific detail: the slaughter mark of a Mil Mi-24 Hind on the side of the fuselage. The detailed information came out days later.

The caption in the photo did not supper anything special: "A U.S. Navy sailor and a U.S. Air Force soldier are waiting to support the preparation of the flight at an undisclosed location in the area of responsibility of the U.S. Central Command, on May 2, 2024." But what drew the most attention was the silhouette of a Mil Mi-24 Hind helicopter at the bow of the EA-18G Growler - in the style of the usual slaughter markings.

In fact, the EA-18G jet, which is mainly intended for electronic warfare missions and the elimination of enemy air defenses, shot down one of these attack helicopters. The U.S. Navy confirmed to the U.S. portal "The War Zone", during coordinated air strikes against Houthi targets on February 24, that a Growler used an AGM-88E AARGM missile to attack a Hind on the ground.

The jet in question belongs to the VAQ-130 "Zappers" squadron next to the CVW-3 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, who currently sails in the Mediterranean.

The Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM) usually directs towards the pulses of the enemy radar, but can also be directed to fixed target coordinates.

After the outbreak of the war in Yemen, the Houthi militia captured several copies of the Hind series from the stocks of the former Yemeni Air Force. However, it is unlikely that more of these helicopters are operational - but there is no accurate information about this.
