Ajia what do you think about shozo doing only western plays instead of traditional japanese plays?
Aija: I don't think he understands how a traditional Japanese play could really improve our schools atmosphere.. Why do we even talk about Japanese films if he won't do them ?
Juku Ren is a pretty plain guy. He is probably the most average student at Akademi due to his lack of dramatic relations with his peers. The only thing above average about him is his strength, and even then, it isn't by too much.
I don't mean to downplay Juku and his potential as a character, but I admit I think I'm content with him being as simple as he is now. Thanks to this, I think that he'll be an interesting character to write as the story goes on.
Since Juku Ren is such a simple guy, it makes him flexible enough to change his character as the school atmosphere grows darker and darker as the story goes on. Similarly to how I said that Kokona would make a good main character because of her well thought out lore, I also think that Juku would make a great main character because of the potential his blank-canvas character holds.

Ajia keeping her borderline racist thoughts to herself doesn't really make her any less borderline racist. But I also think that her character was wronged for her whole character being "Ajia makes traditional Japanese dishes because she hates every other race". I think I blame this on YanDev giving the character trivia instead of their personality.
So, to be more fair, I gave her a history and personality. It might be a little confusing, but the gist is:
Ajia was adopted from America by a Japanese couple but didn't look Japanese and wasn't from Japan. (Of course, different colored hair and eyes are normal here, but I digress.) Due to this and likely some bullying via old classmates in schools, she convinced herself that the only way to be a daughter worthy of her lovely parents, she had to look as Japanese as possible and surround her life with as many Japanese things as possible. Due to this, she started despising anything outside of what she believed she had to be.
Seiyo's constant blabbing to Ajia doesn't help her irritation, although he only does this because he respects her. Additionally, Kashiko's victim-blaming only adds to her stress.
Shozo is really the only one closer to her that she can relax around.
