Finally done with my short Aidori comic, yipee! It’s inspired by Vampire Knight Guilty Ep 6. My young me would be screaming right now because she wished this actually happened! love drawing Zero teasing Hanabusa, just like how he teased him with Sayori in VK Memories manga!

Thank you for doing vampire knight headcannons. I've always found the fandom to be boring with the back and forth between the stupid love triangle and the constant over the top analysis it was rare for the fandom to come together and have fun with the characters and the material! I hope to see you do more in the future (especially more on ichiru because he was always my favorite yet he was brushed aside even though his character is way more complex and his personality is so fun and interesting!)

No problem! Yeah, I'll admit whatever is left of the fandom is dull. Like, where is the Aidori content? I'll never shut up how insane it is for the most healthiest and ground-breaking ship to be sequel-only and barely discussed. I've been thinking of making some Aidori fanart myself because of the lack thereof. His love for her literally played such a big role in the cure for vampirism, it was epically bittersweet. And I'm a Kiryu twins girl so I feel you. The twins are hands down such interesting and complex characters, they feel pretty wasted on a typical vampire YA romance. Their dynamic could have been as twisted and wonderful as Darren and Steve from the Darren Shan Saga- It's been over a decade and I am still not over the revelation they turnt out to be half brothers and were set up to lead the two vampire clans into a war that would lead to apocalyptic circumstances. The Kiryu twins have that kind of potential and I am just fuming. Don't even get me started on how amazing Maria's character development is and how I want to strangle Matsuri Hino for not giving that girl the screentime she deserved. Again, she's a character that I could actually also picture as a bad-ass from a Darren Shan kind of story, similar to Debbie who let her love for one person transform her into a war heroine. I will never stop trying to make VK content and reading the sequels even as they enter Riverdale-like territory as we speak, because there are these wonderful crumbs that would have worked for a so much superior story and I just fell in love with the potential. The sweet stuff that is swept under the rug in favor for the love triangle and the Ren&Ai romance that still gives me a bad taste in my mouth because why did Matsuri Hino think more incest was a good idea-, the epic stuff that could have been, the tragic details that deserve to be fleshed out. I want to give VK the proper attention it deserves!

Zekis acting ignorant again. 46 chapters that focused more on Ai and a random human than it did Zeki. Literally every side pairing got better scenes than Zeki did. Aidori had multiple romantic chapters, a starlit proposal, lots of cute family scenes with Seiya and even their grandkids whilst Zeki got what? Yuuki dragging Zero to see Kaname at every major moment of their relationship? Hell, Hino even made time to give HaruJuri some romance, and Rukain even got a beautiful wedding. What did Zeki get? Even Ren's birth focused more on Ai than Zero and Yuki as parents LOL!

Yes honestly that’s true most of the vkm chapters are Ai and some random character Hino made up last minute. And Hino is trolling them bc she did give the side couples more content imagine what she could’ve done with zeki that it’s one of the “main” couples. She trolled them to infinity and their story is over now

All of it was forced and Hino chose not to focus on the most important things for them that most couples get.

Midorima Shintaro

Oh, my froggy baby! How can I resist? Note: Me and my mom have a lot of frog-related inside jokes. Plus, he's carrot themed in his basketball uniform and my IRL nickname is literally Dutch for 'small/tiny carrot'. I have a lot of tiny personal reasons like this to be strongly attached to him. Plus his divine abs.

Akashi Seijuro

I already explained he's got some similarities with my first ever husbando and we also have some similarities ourselves. So of course I could not help but bond with him as a fangirl.

The Kiryu twins

Figured I better pair these two because they are my blorbos individually but together? They sky-rocket to another level. I'll never get over Ichiru crossdressing to humiliate his twin. I'll forever curse Matsuri Hino for not giving me more of this dynamic. Ichiru needing to die was a plot contrivance and don't even get me started on the clone plot & how we're done dirty yet again.

Tamao Tamamura

I thought she was cute when I first got into Shaman King and the sequel made me curious about Tamao's growth into adulthood. I really got invested in the scraps I could find of her and then I decided to delve into Tamao fanfiction. Every long-time fan can probably guess what legendary gem I found. To Stop The Bleeding is a fic I so deeply admire, like, it deserves to echo through the fandom. I hope to someday produce a fic as great as that one. The fact it's been on hiatus for years has been my torture as a fanfic reader. There is no fanfic I wish for continuation more then I do for To Stop The Bleeding. I've been waiting like a clown for probably a decade now, just like I have been for canon Tamao to finally give us that flashback to her becoming a legendary thug. Being a Tamao fan is agony, but I endure.

Maria Kurenai

Another lady who gets me waiting like a clown for more appearances every chapter and, like Tamao, had an amazing growth that was off screen. I love her and Marichiru is amongst the few Vampire Knight ships I adore. Ichiru being a human and her being a vampire could have added to the most supreme ship of the series too, as they could have totally bonded with Aidori over their mutual struggles being a vampire-human couple and it would have fleshed out her becoming a resistance leader for Ichiru's memory even better. I can just continue ranting about Maria's off-screen arc and the value Marichiru would have brought to the story for ages.

Senri Shiki

Ah, a bastard child of an abusive, entitled prick and a mentally ill mother… Am I looking at Senri or my own reflection? I get this guy so much even if I am much more of strong, rebellious spirit then he is. He's one of Matsuri Hino's most realistically writen side characters. Like the pretending your own emotional needs don't exist and having no boundaries when it comes to your parents, allowing them to walk all over you whenever they please? That's admittedly getting a little close to home. Even the humanization of his mother in the sequel showing that as unstable as she was, all she wanted was for her son to find happiness? It reminds me of my own mom a lot. Rima supporting him low-key gave me an example for how I should be treating myself too and this ship comes close to Aidori for me. Because Shima is the perfect example of how healthy ships are superior. Because healthy ships actually show you what you deserve in life, like that it's important to love yourself too.

Sasha Braus

Amongst my drafts, I actually have an essay about why I think Sasha is amongst the best female characters in anime. Like, this woman's death and the Gabi arc surrounding it is one of the saving graces of S4 and the primary reason why I rewatch that dumpster fire of a season (as a European, Isayama's somewhat pro-Japanese imperialist stance and the way the nazi allegories were pretty much painted to be correct in their subjugation boils my blood). She's just THAT good of a character and as a fellow countryside girl, I love the representation. There's not enough love in mainstream fiction for characters who are clearly from the countryside.

Makoto Tachibana

Do I seriously need to explain why this divine chisled but teddybear of a man is my blorbo when watching Free!? I wish I could shrink him so I can keep this gentle ray of sunshine in my pocket. As a woman with a strong personality, I usually am attracted to men with as much of a personality as me as I don't like the feeling of steamrolling over my partner, but Makoto is the number one guy who's soft and sugary sweet that I'd marry. He's just such a great guy and I keep wanting to reach through the screen and pinch his cheeks for how cute his personality is.

Vert

Oh my blonde haired goddess. I know the vast majority of the fandom misunderstands you (note: my Vert headcanon), but I see you as the depressed & lonely woman you are and I just want to hug you. This sapphic mess of a deity is one of the key reasons why I am cheering we, like after a decade, are finally getting a new game continuing after Megadimension. Because I want to see this woman get a sister and find romance again! Like, if we're not getting Vert x Iffy then can they at least actually flesh out her relationship with Chika and have them become lovers- PLEASE.

LAST BUT NEVER LEAST: THE SUPREME

Ren Tao

My beloved!!! I'm proud to have been your fan for like 19 years or something? His manga arc is amongst the best character arcs I've read even if it is filled with Takei's questionable morals like victim blaming Ren for following into his family's murderous footsteps when he was an isolated kid who never knew any better until Yoh set him straight. I still want to have my voice reach to the pages and my screen for his character to know he shouldn't hate himself for that ignorance and that his parents and grandfather are truly to blame. He's just such a beautiful character who went on from being a pretty boy to the foxiest man in anime history if you ask me! Like, he branded my ovaries with his handsome face and luscious long hair. I cannot get over how this man shaped some of my preferences in husbandos.

Sevonne can be Akashi's empress but I'm Ren's. As fun fact, but another thing they have in common is calling themselves emperor as Ren becomes the CEO of Leidi group who he co-founded as an adult. Leidi is Chinese for 'lightning emperor' and Ren happens to become one of the 5 legendary elementary warriors, controlling the power of lightning as the series progresses…

I cannot say what I love more about my baby. Her parentified dynamic with Neptune which also reminds me of me & my mother, her relatable low-self esteem that she works through, her sweet heroic character or just the number of memes that are attached to her. Sorry Nepgear, but from Nepgya to Nepgeardam, you are iconic in your own right. I swear I've had the thought to buy myself a good Lego stash just so I can replicate Nepgeardam. It just lives rent-free in my mind and I can already picture you groaning in misery at my musings. I'm sorry girl.

I think Taro was actually a very clever way for Hino to build out the world of Vampire Knight Memories and to develop Ai's character in particular.

As tempting as it is to focus on ships, love triangles, and the original cast that we know and love, most of those topics have already been resolved in the first half of VKM. We've seen how Yuuki and Zero get together, Aidori and Rukain's families, Senri and Rima getting together, Takuma's quiet life, and Kaien dying. But what we don't know is how Yuuki was able to create a world that was safe enough for Kaname to live in, and who Ai and Ren are outside of their parents.

For that purpose, Hino introduces Taro who gives Ai a bond and a purpose outside of her immediate family, and who acts as means of expanding the VKM world beyond Cross Academy and the Hunter's Association. Suddenly, we have new Empires and villains, and we get to see how the entire cast responds to those things, as well as how they're able to create the world that Kaname eventually wakes up in.

And by making Taro someone precious to Ai, it not only shows her capacity to care for someone besides her family, but it also helps to develop her own character outside of her relationships. Before meeting Taro, she was mostly just Yume's daughter who was obsessed with Ren. But since meeting Taro and the Empire, we've seen her be a leader, we've seen her care for wider society, we've seen the lengths she'll personally go to for co-existence, and how she continues to help people even in the present timeline.

I know a lot of people might not care about those things and would rather see their ships and more romance instead, but Taro is an important figure that helps to flesh out the VKM world and Ai's own personal history.

Kuran girls with their incest(yume( distant relatives(they still have a certain degree of relation,I'm pointing this out as a fact and not in any contempt whatsoever ) and renai (half siblings with Ai wishing ren to be her bloodbank (even before she was born, that was creepy af))

Now Basic Instinct Is Over, What Would You Like Next?

Finding Spring (Aido Hanabusa X human f!reader):This is basically an Aidori fic with the reader taking Yori's place. Because it is downright criminal for the best ship to only become a thing in the sequel and barely getting some screentime when they finally do get together. This will have all the political drama their relationship was marked by, similar themes on touching on mortality as my vampire Akashi AU and the joys of love and a warm family to get you through the face of impending darkness.

Can't Help Falling In Love With You (Midorima x Bad girl!reader): You are not the girl Midorima is supposed to want or care for. You come from a Yakuza filled neighborhood, struggle with underage substance abuse and your friends are the definition of bad news. So Midorima pines for you from a distance, seeing the girl you are beneath the damage and how you are worth his time despite everything. When he finds you crying alone at school, his heart cannot ignore you and he decides to comfort you. In a foolish moment, he kisses you and having tasted the forbidden fruit Midorima can no longer go back to hungrily savoring just glimpses of you. What will become of it? Holding Onto Your Constellation (EVENTUAL Ren Tao x F!reader): After Men was nearly killed, gearing himself up for the Flowers Of Maize, Ren cannot help but pull him out of the tournament, not wanting to gamble with his son's life. He is the only thing left of Jeanne and Ren will not risk him. As a grieving kid, Men becomes too angry with his father and runs away. On a lonely night, you find the young boy trying to take refuge in your garden shed. You take the boy in, and try to resolve the mystery surrounding him. This series will focus on developping a bond between the reader and Men before Ren enters the picture. It's probably safe to say Reader-Chan won't interact with him in the first ten chapters at least.

Sanity Bear With Me (Ruki Mukami X F!Reader): You are the elder cousin of the Sakamaki's and in human years, an early twenty something. With Yui having chosen Carla Tsukinami, your original intention was to eat popcorn as you watched your uncle grumble over his sons failing. But unfortunately, your uncle has now commanded you to be their official babysitter as he works out plan B, which you suspect is to plot an arranged marriage between Yui's eventual daughter and one of your cousins. Through circumstances, you and Ruki end up as drinking buddies, bemoaning how each respective household became a mess upon Yui chosing the Tsukinami clan. What may happen, as you rear the 'children' together?

The Flowers I Found For Your Grave (Vampire Akashi AU): I already published both his AU bio as well as the prologue to this. The story follows Akashi, who upon the death of his mother can no longer stand vampire society. He finds kinship in the way human cultures deal with grief, and decides to live amongst them to remember what it was like to be human and learn from their ever-evolving society. This story follows Akashi as he learns from various KNB characters across time, heals and finds love with the reader at the end of his journey. An Overnight Story (Jonathan Morgenstern X F!Reader): What if things had went differently for Jonathan and he ran away before his father shaped him into Sebastian? Meet young Jonathan, aged 7. Always lonely whenever his father is away, he scoured the woods only to find you. You were the daughter of a Shadowhunter couple that lived in one of the mansions at the outskirts, always curious to explore relics like Ravenscar Manor, when you found the ultimate hidden treasure. The two of you became friends that day. When the two of you were twelve, you could no longer bear to witness your best friend suffer and proposed to run away together. No one is talking about it so I am just gonna post it here. First of all, I am an Aidori shipper (and an occasional Zeki and Yume one), but there is this tiny bit of interesting vague information that I gathered while reading the chapter.

Ichijou mentioned something about his supposed fiancee. My mind's telling me that it is Yori. Yori was supposed to be engaged to an unknown person, right?

So, I hope that helps! ;) Under the cut is just my superfluous explanation. ;P

Their very first-moment of “interaction” I’d say was Night 39 when Aidou and Yuuki save Yori from a vampire attack. Next, Night 41, Aidou grabs Yori’s arm to take her off to safety. It’s not until Night 47 we see Aidou telling all the day class girls they’re free and safe that Yori proceeds to thank Aidou with a very lovely smile. The last time we see Aidori in the same scene together in the original series is Night 55 where Aidou escorts Yori (Zero in tow) to see Yuuki.

After the original series, it’s not until VKM 1 that we get hints of Yori possibly becoming more intimate with Aidou to some compacity, so we see that in VKM 2 she helped Aidou gather Hunter Assoc. books for his research for the cure, in a way becoming his assistant. Following that, VKM6 we have Aidori’s proposal. VKM8 where Yori is pregnant with their first child. VKM9 is their “fight” about Yori becoming a vampire and towards the end a flash forward during Yori’s funeral. And it’s VKM11 and VKM12 where we see the impact of Yori’s death has on Aidou as he 1. forgets he doesn’t have to take care of her by giving her medicine anymore and 2. that Aidou hallucinates/daydreams talking to old Yori.
