A few paintings from the early years are preserved and they have clear inspiration from the teacher Wilhelmson's color management and technology as is the case with this painting. We see how Wilhelmsson's mosaic way of building a painting goes on, but also his technique of creating life, movement and atmosphere with parallel brush strokes with nearby colors.

Agnes Cleve traveled to Paris in 1913 and studied with Henri Le Fauconnier at the Académie de la Palette and Andr�� Dunuyer. In 1915 she married artist John Jon-And, whom she had met at Valand. The pair Jon-And lived in Stockholm and later in Bohuslän. Both were members of the German artist group Der Blaue Reiter.
