Scrum Project Management: A Framework for Agile Success
Scrum project management has emerged as a leading methodology for Agile software development, providing teams with a flexible and iterative approach to delivering high-quality products. In this article, we'll delve into the fundamentals of Scrum, its key principles, roles, artifacts, events, benefits, challenges, implementation tips, and real-world applications.
I. Introduction
What is Scrum Project Management?
Scrum is a framework for Agile project management that emphasizes iterative development, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It enables teams to respond rapidly to changing requirements and deliver valuable software increments in short cycles.
Brief History and Evolution of Scrum
Originally introduced in the 1980s by Hirotaka Takeuchi and Ikujiro Nonaka, Scrum has since evolved into a widely adopted Agile methodology. Its principles draw inspiration from various fields, including lean manufacturing, empirical process control, and organizational psychology.
II. Core Principles of Scrum
Empirical Process Control
At the heart of Scrum lies the principle of empirical process control, which emphasizes transparency, inspection, and adaptation. Teams base their decisions on real-time feedback and data, rather than predefined plans.
Iterative Development
Scrum promotes iterative development, dividing work into small, manageable increments called "sprints." Each sprint typically lasts one to six weeks and results in a potentially shippable product increment.
Collaboration
Collaboration is central to Scrum, with cross-functional teams working closely together to achieve shared goals. Through frequent communication and collaboration, team members can address challenges and capitalize on opportunities more effectively.
Self-Organization
Scrum teams are self-organizing, meaning they have the autonomy to determine how best to accomplish their objectives. This autonomy fosters creativity, ownership, and accountability among team members.
III. Scrum Roles
Scrum Master
The Scrum Master serves as a servant-leader for the team, facilitating the Scrum process and removing impediments to progress. They coach the team on Agile principles and practices, ensuring adherence to Scrum values.
Product Owner
The Product Owner represents the stakeholders and is responsible for maximizing the value of the product. They prioritize the backlog, define user stories, and make decisions about what features to include in each sprint.
Development Team
The Development Team consists of professionals who do the work of delivering a potentially releasable increment of product at the end of each sprint. They are cross-functional and self-organizing, with a collective responsibility for achieving the sprint goal.
IV. Scrum Artifacts
Product Backlog
The Product Backlog is a prioritized list of all desired work on the project. It evolves over time, with new items added, refined, or removed based on feedback and changing requirements.
Sprint Backlog
The Sprint Backlog is a subset of the Product Backlog selected for implementation during a sprint. It represents the work that the Development Team plans to complete within the sprint.
Increment
The Increment is the sum of all the product backlog items completed during a sprint, plus the increments of all previous sprints. It must be in a potentially releasable state and meet the Definition of Done.
V. Scrum Events
Sprint Planning
Sprint Planning marks the beginning of a sprint, during which the Scrum Team collaborates to select the items from the Product Backlog that will be included in the upcoming sprint and create a sprint goal.
Daily Stand-up
The Daily Stand-up is a short, time-boxed meeting held every day to synchronize the activities of the Development Team and identify any impediments to progress. Each team member answers three questions: What did I do yesterday? What will I do today? Are there any impediments?
Sprint Review
The Sprint Review is held at the end of the sprint to inspect the increment and gather feedback from stakeholders. It provides an opportunity to review what was done in the sprint and adapt the Product Backlog as needed.
Sprint Retrospective
The Sprint Retrospective is a meeting held at the end of the sprint to reflect on the team's process and identify opportunities for improvement. It focuses on what went well, what could be improved, and actionable items for the next sprint.
VI. Benefits of Scrum
Improved Flexibility
Scrum's iterative approach allows teams to adapt to changing requirements and market conditions quickly. By delivering increments of working software regularly, teams can respond to feedback and deliver value more effectively.
Enhanced Product Quality
Through frequent inspection and adaptation, Scrum promotes a focus on quality throughout the development process. Continuous testing, peer reviews, and customer feedback help identify and address issues early, resulting in higher-quality products.
Increased Transparency
Scrum provides stakeholders with transparency into the development process, enabling them to track progress, provide feedback, and make informed decisions. This transparency builds trust and fosters collaboration between the development team and stakeholders.
Better Stakeholder Engagement
By involving stakeholders in the development process through events like the Sprint Review, Scrum ensures that their feedback is incorporated into the product. This engagement leads to greater satisfaction and alignment between the product and stakeholder expectations.
VII. Challenges in Implementing Scrum
Resistance to Change
Transitioning to Scrum requires a cultural shift within an organization, which can meet resistance from stakeholders accustomed to traditional project management methods. Overcoming resistance requires strong leadership, clear communication, and patience.
Lack of Experience
Inexperienced teams may struggle to implement Scrum effectively, leading to frustration and disillusionment. Training, mentoring, and hands-on experience can help teams build the skills and confidence needed to succeed with Scrum.
Overcommitment
Teams may overcommit to work during sprint planning, leading to burnout, reduced quality, and missed deadlines. It's essential to set realistic goals and prioritize the most valuable work to ensure sustainable pace and continuous delivery.
VIII. Tips for Successful Scrum Implementation
Training and Education
Invest in training and education for team members, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners to ensure a solid understanding of Scrum principles and practices.
Clear Communication
Foster open and transparent communication within the team and with stakeholders to ensure alignment and shared understanding of project goals and priorities.
Empowering Teams
Empower teams to self-organize and make decisions, trusting them to deliver results and continuously improve their process.
Continuous Improvement
Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, where teams reflect on their process, identify areas for enhancement, and experiment with new approaches.
IX. Scrum vs. Traditional Project Management
Scrum differs from traditional project management methodologies, such as Waterfall, in several key ways. While traditional methods emphasize detailed planning and documentation, Scrum prioritizes adaptability, collaboration, and delivering value early and often.
X. Real-world Applications of Scrum
Scrum is widely used across various industries and domains, from software development to marketing, healthcare, and beyond. Organizations like Spotify, Google, and Salesforce have adopted Scrum to streamline their processes and deliver innovative products to market faster.

A Guide to Agile Prioritization Techniques For Projects
Tumblr media
Recent technology headlines have demonstrated the advantages of Agile, and companies are achieving unprecedented success. In this guide, we will briefly delve into the dynamic principles of the Agile methodology and introduce you to the latest prioritization techniques for projects that can help make your software development and delivery process more efficient and faster.
Before we dive into Agile Prioritization Techniques let’s first understand a little bit about what the Agile methodology is.
What is the Agile Methodology?
Agile methodology is a well-known term in software development that has become increasingly popular in recent years. Agile is an iterative approach to software development and project management that helps teams deliver faster and better value to customers. Simply put, it is a framework that works around collaboration and workflow, helping to deliver smaller working software to improve customer satisfaction.
Initially created for project management in the software development field, 20 years later, organizations in all disciplines are using agile approaches to solve problems, provide feedback, and adjust scope as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Agile-based frameworks include Scrum (the most popular), Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP).
Importance of Agile Prioritization Techniques in Projects
Prioritization is the process of determining the order in which an agile team will work based on the tasks of the project, or simply the process of ranking potential development items in order of importance. Prioritization is very important in agile projects. Prioritization is important because it helps the team consider the capabilities needed to create customer value, ensures that the team is working simultaneously to analyze project requirements, leads to an increase in strategic projects, increases the senior management team’s focus on strategic goals, and removes any doubt from the operations team in terms of decision making. This is because it removes doubts from the operational team and also creates a mindset.
Agile Prioritization Techniques
There are several prioritization techniques for agile projects.
MoSCoW Analysis
MoSCoW analysis is a prioritization technique that helps understand the importance of each requirement. In layman’s terms, MoSCoW is a simple and effective way to prioritize tasks in an agile project, helping the team focus on the most important tasks and ensuring they are completed first. It is an acronym for M — Must Have, S — Should Have, C — Could Have, and W — Won’t Have. These methods are further elaborated as follows
Must Have: the most important task that must be accomplished in order for the project to be successful.
Should Have: Should Have: Important tasks that must be completed, but not as essential as the Must-Have tasks.
Could Have: Tasks that should be completed but are not essential to the success of the project.
Should not have: Tasks that are not included in the project at this time.
Kano Model
The Kano Model is a customer satisfaction model that helps teams prioritize tasks based on their impact on customer satisfaction. The model divides tasks into three categories
Essential: These are tasks that customers expect as part of the product. If these tasks are not included, customers are dissatisfied.
Performance: These are tasks that customers would be satisfied with if they were part of the product. However, if these are not included, customers will not be dissatisfied.
Pleasure: These are tasks that customers are satisfied with if they are included in the product. However, if they are not included, the customer will not be dissatisfied.
The Kano model is an effective way to prioritize tasks based on their impact on customer satisfaction. This allows the team to focus on the most important tasks that have the greatest impact on customer satisfaction.
Relative Weighting Method
The relative weighting method is a prioritization approach that considers both the benefits and costs of a feature. This technique is best used to set goals on an approximate quarterly basis, rather than on a sprint-by-sprint basis. In this method, each task is weighted based on its importance, and the tasks are sorted according to that weight. The relative weighting method effectively prioritizes tasks based on their importance, ensuring that the most important tasks are completed first.
Opportunity Scoring
Opportunity scoring is one of several common strategies for prioritizing product roadmap features. Product teams use this strategy when they want to know which features customers consider important but are not satisfied with in their current state. Improving these features can increase customer satisfaction and loyalty with the product and provide opportunities to attract new customers. This method assigns a score to each task based on potential business impact and ranks tasks based on that score.
The Opportunity Scoring method effectively prioritizes tasks based on potential business impact, ensuring that the most important tasks are completed first.
Stack Ranking
Stack Ranking is another prioritization method that helps teams prioritize tasks based on their importance. This technique ranks tasks from most to least important and assigns resources to the most important tasks first. Stack ranking effectively prioritizes tasks based on their importance, ensuring that the most important tasks are completed first.
Priority Poker
Priority Poker is a method for teams to prioritize tasks based on their value. The method is based on rules similar to those of actual poker. In Priority Poker, priority is given to items that will yield the highest results in a particular target market. This is another very popular and more democratic method of prioritization.
Packs of cards numbered 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 20, 40, and 100 are distributed to all participants.
Each feature is discussed, and those involved are asked to choose a number from a given deck of cards. Once everyone has chosen a number, they are asked to indicate the card they chose. If there is variation in the numbers chosen, the stakeholders further discuss items that have the same weight. Through joint discussion, the stakeholders agree on a number that can be assigned to the requirement/feature.
100 Dollar Test
The 100 Dollar Test is a prioritization technique that helps teams prioritize tasks based on value; the $100 test is a prioritization technique where each group member literally puts their (virtual) money where their mouth is, to indicate their relative importance to each item on the list, with a virtual dollar bids. In this technique, each member is given $100 to spend on the task that they believe will have the greatest impact on the project. Tasks that spend the most money have the highest priority.
Implementing Prioritization Techniques in Agile Projects
Implementing prioritization techniques on an agile project requires a clear understanding of the project goals, requirements, and stakeholders. The first step is to identify the tasks that need to be completed to achieve the project goals. Once tasks are identified, they can be prioritized using any of the prioritization techniques described above.
It is essential to involve all stakeholders in the prioritization process to ensure that everyone’s needs and requirements are considered. The prioritization process should be transparent and the reasons for prioritizing tasks should be clearly communicated to all stakeholders.
Once the tasks have been prioritized, they should be broken down into smaller and more manageable tasks that can be completed in short iterations. This will help teams focus on the most critical tasks and ensure that they are completed first. It is also essential to continuously evaluate the prioritization process and adjust it as needed. Priorities may change as the project progresses and it is important to be flexible and adapt to changing the requirements.
Conclusion
Effective prioritization is a cornerstone of successful Agile projects. By focusing on the most critical tasks, teams can reduce risks, improve quality, and ultimately deliver greater value. With a variety of prioritization techniques available, the choice depends on the specific project’s goals, requirements, and stakeholders.
To ensure successful Agile project implementation, consider the following:
Clear understanding: Grasp the project’s objectives, requirements, and stakeholder needs.
Inclusive prioritization: Involve all stakeholders in the process to ensure their perspectives are considered.
Transparent communication: Clearly communicate the reasons for prioritizing certain tasks.
Continuous evaluation: Regularly review and adjust priorities as the project evolves.
By following these guidelines and leveraging the power of Agile methodologies, teams can effectively prioritize tasks and deliver exceptional results. For organizations seeking expert guidance in Agile project management and AI ML Development Services consider partnering with Xcelore

(Read More Below the Cut)
Bio:
As part of Project CADMUS’ endless attempts for contingency plans and strategies against metahuman heroes and crime fighting vigilantes should they go rouge, The higher brass commission a restart to their highly effective cloning process with some modifications to their original design. In this case, create a clone at a younger age so they can be more easily swayed therefore controllable under their orders when the time arises. Futhermore, with hiring some mystics and magic based metas on their side, CADMUS was able to acquire DNA from Human turned Amazonian Warrior and Veteran Titans Member, Donna Hinckley Troy aka Troia.
After initial gestation which lasts about 5-6 months, the clone had by then developed into a young woman which bears a lot of resemblance to Donna albeit with some alterations due to the incorporation of other Amazonian DNA within her samples. Once she reaches an age resembling that of a 10 year old, by then thanks to the transference of all sorts of knowledge, from the basics about social skills including table manners, the learning of that English and Ancient Greek Languages, all the way up to the most advanced and complex of Amazonian combats techniques on the battlefield, the clone dubbed Subject 66 was finally released from her pod, to officially begin her training under CADMUS’ wing.
However, what the scientists at those hadn’t entirely counted on was Subject 66 exhibiting personality traits which actively questions and speaks against their goals for her, all of which conflict with her extraordinary emotions of free will and self empowerment. While they had managed some of the training they had in mind with positive results, CADMUS was overall unable to exactly control Subject 66, only reason she even cooperated with their training and what passed for their care was because at that time, she had nowhere else to go.
Enter Donna and her ‘sister’ Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Sandsmark aka Wonder Girl. During an extensive battle against routine Titan nemeses The HIVE/Fearsome Five, the secret laboratory CADMUS was operating in that contains Subject 66 was discovered by an errant Donna being tossed right into its walls, crashing though the complex and down to the vault which led to the Subject’s living quarters. She hadn’t found enough to notice her clone though as Donna immediately rushed back into the battle right out of the building. Subject 66 however noticed her ‘bedroom’ vault was wide open, allowing her to fly out of there to delicate her freedom since that the CADMUS personnel had left in a massive hurry. Once finally outside the building complex after so long, Subject 66 saw the battle between the two Wonder Girls and the HIVE/Fearsome Five, so far the battle not going so well for the Wonders. Just Donna was pinned to the street floor and about to receive a nasty looking face punch from Mammoth, suddenly the fist is caught midway through. Donna peaks an eye opening, revealing a lone girl with jet black hair with golden streaks, clad in a grey and black bodysuit with both her hands on Mammoth’s fist, holding it there with immense super strength but delivering an uppercut to the villain, sending him flying to the complete outskirts of the city, shocking much of the HIVE and allowing Cassie and Donna to gain the edge; ultimately winning the battle and saving the day.
Shortly after the HIVE are apprehended by the Bludhaven PD, Subject 66 is immediately taken to Titans Tower, making formal introductions about what she knows about herself to the Titans and their adjacent Young Just Us team. It’s here thanks to DNA testing from Victor Stone aka Cyborg the Subject learns of her genetic progenitor being none other than Donna herself, a decision that no doubt would be a major shock but Donna, being the compassionate and rational woman she is, would take sympathy with this clone of hers, valuing her as her person and understanding her feelings for freedom. This especially gets prominent once Amanda Waller, Head of CADMUS and flanked by her Task Force X, arrives later on that day with the demands to get Subject 66 back under their custody.
Donna and Subject 66 however are insistent and persuasive with Waller; a back and forth that goes for about 1 hour and with the ultimatum that should the Subject being taken by CADMUS, the Titans won’t be afraid to reveal their many dirty secrets of all sorts of misbehavior to the public, Waller eventually backs down and allows Subject 66 to stay with the Titans and Donna in particular. Once the helicopter leaves the roof, Subject 66 gives a major hug to Donna in thankfulness for allowing her to stay with them, a hug Donna gives right back.
Over the course of the next few months, with weekly visits to Themyscira for enhancing and perfecting her training with the Amazons alongside Cassie in particular, forming a sort of mentor and mentee bond between them, forging her own custom made outfit heavily patterned after both Donna and Cassie’s while making it her own and meeting and befriending with the son of Donna’s close friend Nightwing, Jakand’r/Jake Grayson aka Skybird along his best friend Christopher Grayson Kent aka Nightwing Phantom, The clone also develops close bonds and connections with Donna and her birth son Robbie Long aka Darkstar, eventually also gaining a new civilian name once her adoption papers are fully completed: Penelope Haney Troy, ‘Penny’ for a nickname.
With that, she then declares her newfound crime fighting superhero identity of Hoplite, named after the elite warrior classes of many Ancient Greek city states, in particular Sparta. Also a proud de facto apprentice of Wonder Girl who Penelope looks up to as a de facto Aunt.
Occupation: 6th Grade Student of Bludhaven Academy, Amazonian Warrior in Training
Superhero Outfit: A Black and Gold Version of the NTT era Wonder Girl outfit Donna had worn with a skirt in place of pants, and the stars on it being pink and white. Complimenting the outfit is a pair of goggles once belonging to Cassie, given as a gift as a sign of their small yet strong bond growing overtime. When Penny offers said googles back, Cassie tells her not to worry as she’s got plenty of spares
Physical Appearance: Long and Combed Jet Black Hair with Golden Streaks
Bright Ocean Blue Eyes
Medium Frame with a Healthy Muscle Build Around the Arms
No Scars Present
Trivia
- A big fan of the Bratz Dolls, Penny has amassed a sizable and impressive collection with her allowance money and spare change. Despite good efforts to preserve them, she still allows others to play with them. Its one of the many things that she can share in common with Mar’i Grayson aka Nightstar
- Regarding her half brother Robbie, despite being younger than him age wise, she staunchly comes to his defense if any girls start flirting with him or pursue crushes on him. Already into her first year attending school, she’s scared off about three girls who she can sense can break his heart.
- Besides his Bis Sis Mar’i, Chris Kent and Jasper Logan, Penny Troy is the one person Jake can trust above all others and most definitely one of the ones he can both relate and confide to for nearly everything. The bond between Penny and Jake has been routinely compared to the strong platonic bond between their respective parents Donna and Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. It’s a comparison frankly none of them can deny
- Speaking of Jake and Chris, while she hasn’t joined their group Team StarKnights just yet, she’s still considered a proud honorary member. She even has her own bedroom set up at the StarKnights’ base whenever it’s needed.
- Like so many in this generation of heroes, Penny can clearly see the small crushes Jake and one girl from school Meredith Robinson have for each other despite their consistent denial of it. She often is among the many ones who try planning secret dates from those two. Seeing Jake blush every time he gets too to Meredith always being a playful grin to her face.
- A Fan of 70s to 80s Rock n Roll, in particular the band called Fleetwood Mac. Takes inspiration from said band to learn playing piano, harp and most importantly for her, a cowbell. As such is often present for when Chris and Jake reform their own band, The Sidekicks, along with Mar’i and Chris’ brother Jon Kent

Spider-Verse
Tumblr media
[ P.S: Please do not reblog or steal! This is for personal use. ]
STORY
Noburu Makoto is Onyx, the current host of a demonic symbiote named Venom. In addition to being the defender of the veil, she works alongside Spider-Lily (Kanako Ryuuzaki) to protect and defend the human and demon realms.
Venom Venom is a demonic warlord born and raised to be a weapon of war. When they heard of a new faction composed of humans and demons who yearned to end the war, it was among the many figures who strove to halt that absurd idea. The warlord fought hard to protect their way of life, as it was the only thing the demon had ever been taught and known.
Eventually defeated and sealed away, they swore revenge against the founder of peace, the Ryuuzaki, and the spider demoness. After many decades of waiting and planning, it managed to escape its banishment and escape to the human world. The demon began corrupting every human it encountered, spreading small pockets of chaos here and there as it learned about the new world, buying time as it slowly put its plan into motion. When Venom found its ideal target, people close to the current Spider-Lily, it swiftly attached itself to Noburu Makoto and corrupted her.
The Awakening of a Royal
Seeking revenge against Spider-Lily, Venom not only taunted and harmed her both mentally and physically, but also mockingly adopted a spider-themed appearance. Soon, gathering its old and new allies, who shared the same goal, the demons prepared to wage war on the human world, once again. And to stop Venom, Kanako embarked on a suicide mission into the demon world, since it posed a significant threat to humans who lingered there for too long due to the hazardous environment and miasmas that plagued the realm. However, she was not alone, as other defenders of the Veil, including Shield, came to arms to stop Venom from starting the war.
Just as all hope was lost and Spider-Lily's life was about to be extinguished by Venom, Noburu managed to awaken from her six-month slumber induced by the demon. As it attempted to kill her best friend, it unintentionally awakened her dormant demonic bloodline. With her newfound demonic power, she effortlessly expelled Venom from her body and mercilessly attacked and destroyed him, leaving him begging for mercy.
Noburu was discovered to be a direct descendant of a deceased royal demon family that had long since died out. Her ancestor was a demon prince and powerful warrior who had forsaken his kingdom and status to marry a human woman after falling in love with her. And as punishment, with Venom reduced to nothing more than a low-level demon, the symbiote must submit to and serve Noburu as her vessel. Meanwhile, the Vixen begins her tutelage under the Ryuuzaki to learn how to control her newfound abilities, as she now works alongside Spider-Lily.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
+ Supernatural Abilities As a part-demon, Noburu possesses enhanced strength, durability, speed, and agility. By incorporating Venom's abilities into her arsenal, she gained enhanced reflexes and even the ability to climb walls, as she continued to embrace the spider theme.
+ Demonic Energy As a member of the demonic royal family, once she awakens her demon counterpart, she discovers that she has a vicious demonic energy that is difficult for her to control. After the Ryuuzaki taught her how to control her ability, she has since learned various advanced techniques and has improved over time.
With her newfound powers, Noburu can now surround and project a protective aura around herself, causing weaker demons to tremble in fear and become paralyzed by her presence. With intense concentration, she discovered that she could temporarily suppress her powers or any effects originating from demons or demonic sources. This ability also allowed her to evade detection by her enemies. Using this ability too frequently or continuously can be exhausting and could endanger both herself and Venom.
+ Demonic Presence Since childhood, Noburu has possessed an innate ability to perceive demonic beings with remarkable clarity and sense their presence. And she was unaware of what it was until her demonic lineage was revealed. Again, with Ryuuzaki's teachings, she honed her skills and could even detect and sense demonic presences from a considerable distance.
+ Demonic Form As her demonic energy increases, she gains the ability to transform into her demonic form. Her demonic form had the typical pointed ears, her hair grew longer, and her eyes transformed into slit pupils. Her entire body was covered in red markings, including the symbol of her ancestor's royal family on her upper left arm, which ironically resembled a lotus flower.
However, she preferred to remain in her human form, as she felt more comfortable.
+ Regenerative Healing Factor As a demon, Noburu can draw upon her demonic energy to heal wounds. But, when combined with Venom, their healing capabilities are greatly accelerated, and even damaged limbs can be regenerated. Depending on the severity of the injuries, she still requires rest to allow the symbiote to focus on mending her wounds for a quicker and more immediate recovery.
+ Organic Constructs With Venom serving as her vessel, Noburu learns and gains the ability to freely alter, manipulate, and control the symbiote's substance at will. She can mold the biomass into different forms, including defensive shields or offensive weapons, even manifesting tendril or tentacle-like extensions, limited by her imagination.
She can also manipulate the biomass to alter her appearance, specifically in any form of clothing she desires.

if the poly people stopped doing business management techniques to their relationships we'd all die of a virus contracted from an unmanaged relationship?
Re: this post
I just want to structure my life so I never interact with these types of people ever. These are the latter-day Golgafrinchan telephone sanitizers.
Yeah, that's the right reference, I'm saying that the types of people who apply business management to their relationships are the same as the primordial Earth people from Life, the Universe and Everything who are the useless third of the population.
The Golgafrinchans realised that were three types of beings on the planet of Golgafrincham: the leaders (or thinkers), the workers (or doers), and the middlemen.
The leaders contained the artists and "achievers". The workers were the people who "did all the actual work", and who made and did things. The middle management was comprised of hairdressers, telephone sanitisers, and other such "worthless jobs."
The middlemen were sent off, told that the other Golgafrinchans would follow soon, however they remained on the planet with no intention of leaving. The middlemen stayed in space for a long period of time, with many on board in suspended animation for the majority of the journey, with the exception of the Captain and his Number One and Number Two. This third class eventually crashed onto Earth, while the other two-thirds of their society on Golgafrincham lived full, rich and happy lived until they were all suddenly killed off by a raging disease contracted from a dirty telephone.
But I wasn't thinking a dirty telephone per se, I think that's really a metaphor. It's just, the whole joke Douglas Adams is setting up is that these middlemen are the people who went on to settle Earth and that's why we have so many people like that. But he could have left the joke there, and not added the line about how actually all the other Golgafrinchans died off as "revenge" for their crime. It's some nice poetic justice I think that he bothered to put that in there at the end.
And back in the real world, there's a decent chance that all these agile and scrum people are good for something that would cause our society to fall apart if they weren't around. They don't seem to be slacking off enough to be putting one over on the rest of us, so it's interesting to imagine that the kind of person who sees dreary project management cruft and thinks "golly gee this will help me with my relationship problems" provides some value to society. Even though unlike the "workers" and the "achievers" it's hard to comprehend just what that value might be. But it's probably something? Some percentage of them might not be a total waste of space and a drag on the rest of us. Probably.
I don't have to like them, though....

This decision is often fraught with a mixture of excitement and trepidation, and rightly so, as it’s a significant pivot. From flexible work hours to increased earning potential, the benefits of becoming an independent contractor are substantial, but so are the responsibilities.
This in-depth guide is crafted to walk you through the process of becoming an independent contractor. We will discuss what it means, the critical steps you’ll need to follow, and offer tips that can maximize your success in this role.
What Is An Independent Contractor?
Before you leap into this career path, it’s crucial to understand what, exactly, an independent contractor is. An independent contractor (IC) is an individual who provides services to a business but is not an employee of that business. This distinction is important because it affects tax obligations, legal protections, and more.
The IC Definition
Independent contractors are often called freelancers or consultants. They have a high degree of control and independence in how they perform their services. Typically, they dictate their own schedules, choose where they work, provide their own tools and equipment, and serve multiple clients.
Why Choose Independent Contracting?
There are a multitude of reasons independent contracting has become an attractive employment option. For starters, it offers a measure of freedom not often found in traditional employment arrangements. It also allows individuals to capitalize on their skills and negotiate their terms with clients, offering a potentially higher income.
Now, the essential part—how do you actually become an independent contractor?

These three tips will help you tackle these obstacles and excel as a professional contractor.
Cultivate Business Agility
Business agility is crucial for independent contractors. Be ready to adapt to market changes and take advantage of new opportunities.
Stay Informed
Keep up with the latest industry trends, technologies, and methodologies to remain relevant and competitive.
Develop Multiple Revenue Streams
Relying on a single client or service can be risky. Explore ways to diversify your income, whether through additional services or multiple clients.
Prioritize Self-Management
One of the biggest selling points of being an independent contractor is the control over your time. Master the art of self-management to maintain productivity and balance.
Set Boundaries
Define working hours and client communication expectations. Don’t be on call 24/7 unless absolutely necessary.
Track Your Time Effectively
Use tools and techniques, like the Pomodoro Technique, to manage your time and productivity.
Nurture Client Relationships
Satisfied clients are your best marketing. Invest in your client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.

Comprehensive PMP Study Guide for Myself
Understand the project management framework: Familiarize yourself with the different project management frameworks, such as Agile, hybrid, and predictive (waterfall). This will help you eliminate options that are not valid based on the framework being used in the question.
Know the process group and knowledge area mappings: Understand the relationship between the process groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing) and the knowledge areas (Integration, Scope, Schedule, Cost, Quality, Resources, Communications, Risk, Procurement, Stakeholder). This knowledge will help you identify the appropriate process group and knowledge area relevant to the question.
Focus on situational questions: When encountering situational questions, read the last sentence (the main question) first before reading the entire prompt. This will guide you on what to do, what to do first, what should have been done, or what not to do. Pay attention to keywords like "most important," "least important," "likely," and "may/might/claims" to identify the nature of the question (risk or issue-related).
Serve as a servant leader: Adopt a servant leader mentality, thinking about the team's needs and facilitating effective communication. Consider face-to-face communication as the preferred option and prioritize training and coaching to empower team members.
Assess, review, and take action: Understand the sequence of steps in problem-solving and decision-making processes. Assess the situation, review relevant information or plans, and then take appropriate action or make informed decisions based on the assessment and review.
Follow formal change management processes: Recognize that any changes to the project should go through formal change management processes. Change requests should be approved following the appropriate procedures and never implemented without proper approval.
Utilize appropriate tools and techniques: Understand which tools and techniques are suitable for different project management aspects. For example, bottom-up estimation is best for cost estimation, prototypes are effective for demonstrations, and meetings and coaching are recommended for conflict resolution.
Adhere to project management principles: Remember key project management principles such as stakeholder engagement, quality control, following acceptance criteria for deliverables, and following formal project closure processes.
Communicate and collaborate effectively: Maintain open communication channels with the project management office (PMO), stakeholders, customers, and team members. Report project status and updates regularly to keep all parties informed.
Apply risk management practices: Identify and address risks throughout the project lifecycle. Update the risk register when new risks arise or when there are implications due to new laws or information from the internet.
Consider contractual and vendor management: If there are issues related to vendors, consult the appropriate department for guidance. Address vendor-related problems through meetings and brainstorming sessions with the team to find solutions.
Prioritize smaller tasks before bigger actions: When faced with a decision on what the project manager should do next or first, ensure that preliminary actions like problem assessment, plan review, or meetings with the team are completed before making decisions on larger tasks like change requests or project closure.
