Osamu Kashiwagi is Daigo Dojima's Biological Father

This isn't explicitly canon but with some faceapp comparisons, some theories, etc. it's very hard to refute. Please take a look at all the evidence I've compiled before making your own final judgement.

Daigo's mother is Yayoi Dojima and his father is Sohei Dojima. As you can see in these photos Daigo does resemble his dad but mainly just in the jawline and the similar choice in facial hair. His eyes, lips, nose, etc. seem to be mainly from his mother's side. His hair texture is also most similar to his mother. Comparing how Daigo and his father acted as a patriarch also shows Daigo's leadership qualities fall more in line with his mother's. With that in mind, Daigo is obviously quite the mama's boy and takes after her more, regardless of my speculations.

Enter Osamu Kashiwagi (please don't mind the photo collage he is my favorite and I created it in a love drunk craze).

As you can see he is tall, dark, and handsome with a mysterious energy. Throughout the entire franchise he has decidedly been a supporting character. At one point in the story he even supported Yayoi since she was inducted as interim chairman of the Tojo clan in the absence of Terada. He has close ties to Yayoi, Daigo, and of course Sohei himself.

I am a woman of science and so out of curiosity I decided to download the face app and do some very scientific facial comparisons.

This is 12 year old Daigo. As you can see he is quite the baby.

My thought process is that if I face mixed Sohei and Yayoi together I should get something very similar to baby Daigo. These were the results:

Uh...something is off. If you ignore the mild uncanny valley-ness of all of this in general you can definitely see that these hypothetical boys don't look like baby Daigo that much. Similar lips and noses but the jawlines, hair, etc. is just a little too off.

Here is a face mix of Yayoi and Kashiwagi:

Obviously still not perfect but now, now we're getting somewhere. These hypothetical boys look more like baby Daigo than the other ones. Still not concrete proof but it makes you think, doesn't it?

Another thing I noticed was from scouring the wikis. There is no height on Yayoi, but after doing a little research she would have to be between 4' 9"(145cm) or 5' 7"(170cm). Keep in mind 5' 7"(170cm) is freakishly tall for a natural born Japanese woman.

And this is Daigo's (this is not doctored in any way, this screenshot is straight from the wiki):

The wiki obviously isn't entirely reliable but most of the heights are accurate, if not a couple inches (cms) off. In any case, let's say Yayoi is 5' 7"(170cm) just like Sohei. That would mean that Daigo should be the same height, give or take. Yet somehow he's 6' 1"(185cm)...just like Kashiwagi.

At this point you're either convinced or not at all. Here is my last bit of evidence on the topic.

To create this post I had to look for quite a few pictures of Daigo and Kashiwagi. I found it pretty difficult to find any pictures of Kashiwagi in a perfect, straight portrait. Almost every photo I could find of him he has his head cocked to the side slightly, like a curious dog. It was getting annoying until I moved on looking for images of Daigo. What did I find? Quite a few photos of him doing the exact same thing.

Keep in mind Daigo is 31 in his photo and Kashiwagi is in his late 30s in his (they never explicitly say his age).

Maybe the dev team just reused Kashiwagi’s animation for Daigo, or maybe they were trying to say something without spelling it out, but whatever the case may be you have to admit...these are some very odd coincidences.

Same height, same build, same hair, same mannerisms down to the way they cock their heads, they even knit their brows together the same way, and choose to slick back their hair and ruin their hairlines in the process. 

Even if you don’t agree he’s Daigo’s dad, you have to admit that perhaps Kashiwagi had more of an influence on Daigo than we previously thought. Maybe behind the scenes Kashiwagi was the adoptive dad Daigo needed and didn’t realize he’d had the entire time. Who knows? This is a theory, a game theory, thanks for reading.

Adventures in using the Faceapp gender filter

Pendragon Rising is one of those CoG releases that suffers from a lack of fandom. There's sadly little to no fanart and fanfic. But as it's an Arthurian story, we're blessed to have many, many, maaaaaany other versions of King Arthur (not so many that have GRR elements, but I digress). I've seen PR compared to Mists of Avalon, so why not genderbend that, too? Enter Faceapp.

The MoA miniseries is a bit dated in terms of video quality, so I wasn't expecting much. I am a great idiot and did not know that the miniseries had a DVD release, which was higher quality of course. I take back my comment.

The results are overall quite impressive, especially with how seamless some of them are. Not all of them are good, though. I had to cherrypick to get the best shots. Hope you like them!

Note: the genderbent-to-male characters will have beards in some shots, because equality is when everyone has a midlife crisis beard. (Jk.) And speaking of beards, I couldn't include Merlin, as the app seemingly LOATHES long beards.

Morgaine

Our lead character! I... have only one reaction to this.

But we all know what he’s been through, so here’s broody Morgan. The above reaction still applies.

Annoyingly enough, the app keeps trying to give him a shirt to cover bare skin, because apparently that’s too feminine uwu or whatever. Hence the awkward cropping.

Bonus: alternate hairstyles! I think Morgan does perfectly fine without a beard. Having one actually kinda takes away from his look of innocence. Also, since Morgaine is an alternate spelling, maybe his name should be Morcant instead?

Mordred

...The app clearly has a favourite. Mordred looks great in almost every shot! Pretty much the only problem I had was that sometimes her hair is inconsistent. But other than that, it's pitch perfect. Incredible. I'd even go so far as to say she could be a version of Arta. A damn good one. What can I say, I really like this.

I had to split Mordred's shots into two parts because there are just so many good ones. Here's evil Mordred for you villain enjoyers.

And she still looks good in the unused footage, where the quality isn’t... great.

Morgause

I couldn’t resist giving Morven a beard. It was a bit of a tangle trying to get the app not to butcher his outfits (like the leftmost ones... rip fashion), but in the end some shots are great. I honestly don’t know which hairstyle I’d prefer for him. They all look nice.

And I know I called M!Morgause Morven, but their appearances don’t match, exactly. PR!Morven has black hair. But I can see Gwion looking like this. Long red hair and ruthless, manipulative personality and all that.

Arthur

Arta's not too shabby here. Some shots look like she's wearing a wig, and her hair colour is inconsistent, but other than that not too bad. I wanted her to look older towards the end, but the aging filter made her look too old, so nevermind that. I love the shots where she's in armour. We're probably not getting another genderbending Arthurian show *coughs* Cursed *coughs* anytime soon, so this will have to suffice.

Lancelot

Well, well, well, is it any wonder Guinevere had the affair. Lancelot turned out fantastic, and unlike Arta, she tends to get the wig treatment less often (except maybe the rightmost shots).

Gawain

I see this app likes Gawain as well. She’s a pretty good representation of Yvaine, too (just add red hair). I love how she looks pretty much identical to the original. I was worried about the app trying to change facial features to be more feminine and whatnot, but I’m glad to see that’s not the case.

Accolon

Looking good, Accolon! She kind of looks like Cursed!Nimue.

Also, um, brown hair and pink lips? Why does she remind me of someone...

Oh.

Igraine

Honestly, this is good! I like that Faceapp generally tries to preserve facial characteristics, and it shows here. I love the one where he is wearing the crown-veil thing.

Guinevere

The app does not like Guinevere. A lot of the shots I tried ended up looking weirdly smudged and airbrushed, mainly because the app deleted Guinevere's long hair and had no idea what to do with the empty space. (And the shirts. Stop giving them shirts!) I did manage to get some decent shots, with varying hair as per the miniseries. He looks kinda cute ngl.

Also, sorry Arthur, but someone's rocking that beard better.

Viviane

Viv undoubtedly got the short end of the stick here. Which is a shame because if the app didn't try to erase his hair, M!Viviane would look great. Most of the shots have beards, because 1. to be honest, he looks weird without them, 2. someone’s gotta take over Merlin’s monopoly on the beard.

And I know Viviane's counterpart in PR is Gwion, but I personally can't imagine him looking like this. Viviane looks too much like a good guy (or at least sympathetic) to me. They’re not comparable.

And the rest

The app is HORRENDOUS at genderbending Uther and Gorlois (centre). This was the only halfway decent shot I could get for them. But the others turned out surprisingly good! I added an aging filter to Uriens’ shot to compensate for the lack of a white beard.

Bonus: pics from other media. Picked Cursed because PR!Morgan has brown skin, unlike his MoA counterpart. I would love to see the rest of the Cursed cast as well, but sadly I don’t have screencaps of them at hand. Also have another Arthur from the Guy Ritchie film, why not.
