Hey support. Quick question. Lately this group of guys on campus has been gravitating toward me in a kinda weird way. They’re super preppy guys: polo shirts, cologne, pressed khakis, conservative haircuts, that whole sort of thing. They’re really nice and honestly very handsome—prettyboy faces with some nicely toned muscle—but, frankly, the way they all talk the same, always hang out together, and have the same (properly preppy) interests kind of freaks me out. They’re like pod people. Idk why they’ve taken such a curiosity in me: I’ve never been very preppy or stylish at all. Anyway, they invited me over to their dorm tomorrow, but I saw one of them carrying a chronoviac…any idea what I should expect if I go? Should I go?
Well… In my opinion, you should definitely go there. From what I see in my files, these guys are virtuosos in the use of the Chronivac. You can look forward to the results.
You put on your clothes that are most likely to pass for "preppy". You comb your hair. And go on your way. Another student is waiting in front of the house. Similar appearance as you. Pretty average. Quite preppy. But could just as easily pass for a member of the chess team. The door opens and an immaculately dressed frat guy invites you in and leads you into a library. There are two tables, each with an iPad on it. You may sit down. There would now be a small entrance test for the fraternity. If you pass, you will become probationary preppies. Otherwise you will leave the dorm and will not get a chance to repeat the test.
Hey, you think to yourself, that's great. So, worst case scenario, nothing happens. Let's do it.
The test only takes a few minutes. You are to enter for four abbreviations what they stand for. Please use the iPads for this. You and the other candidate look at each other, shake hands and take your seats. The first abbreviation is BMW. Fuck! "Bavaria" and " Motors" is what you guess. But W? Ways? Your tutor congratulates your competitor. Yes, it stands for "Bayerische Motoren Werke". You look enviously at your opponent's iPad. Did he already have manicured fingers? You look at your hands. Okay, the nails aren't exactly clean. And you have quite a few horny calluses.
The next question is what "bt" means on an invitation. You have no idea… You've never read it. You write beer time. Fits BMW somehow. The tutor congratulates the other guy again. The solution was "black tie". Who should know something like that? The idiot grins over his clean-shaven face. You're itching your three-day beard. Shit, now you have to try harder!.
Now they ask for LVMH. What the hell? LVMH? Might have something to do with the British king. Long Vita Majesty Highness? Shit, time's up. Of course the other guy knew it stood for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. You don't even know what that means. You scratch your tousled hair. Your opponent, grinning, corrects a less-than-perfect strand of his slicked hair.
We come to the last question. Your last chance not to make a total fool of yourself. But you're getting tired of these stuffy wimps. What does Snob stand for? Hehehe! That's a trick question. Snob is not an abbreviation at all. You write that down. To learn that it stands for sine nobilitas. Fuck!
A few other preppies enter the room and ask your opponent to come along. He puts on his expensive looking jacket, nods at you once more and turns around.
Tumblr media
Your tutor says he's sorry, but unfortunately you have no chance of being accepted into the frat. You scratch your hairy six-pack and are relieved. You'd rather be throwing some balls with the other guys anyway.
Tumblr media
"Nah worries, bruh. It's been fun. See you on campus" you reply, grabbing your glove and ball and you head out of this boring house.

Thinking about how the type of relationship between Amane and Tsukasa is written and shown, like Aidairo they really like to play and, evidently, they do it on purpose: is it just something brotherly or is there something more? (Always interpreting the content they give us and never affirming [or denying] something)
It can also be said (and from what I have seen, it is something that does happen) that part of the jshk fandom rejects and ignores the theories that the interactions between the twins hide something beyond the fraternal because they're brothers and shouldn't be seen as such.
So,
Using the analogy of "If character A were the opposite gender of character B, then everyone would support their romantic relationship, but since A and B are the same gender that makes them just good friends and 'romantic' is just a thing." part of the community", one could deduce that if instead of brothers, Aidairo had chosen to be childhood friends, would the majority of the fandom more easily accept their interaction as something more than brotherly?
If they were just childhood friends who grew up together and their relationship is the same as it is currently in the manga, perhaps the entire fandom would say, and it wouldn't be something crazy or misplaced, that there's not just friendship between the two; perhaps a one-sided love, or a childhood love that ended badly. Maybe there would even be more posts of parallels between hananene and amane and tsukasa.
I would like to know your opinion ^ . ^
Just thoughts derived from insomnia and how I love to find three feet for the cat. And since I love to see the relationships of some characters in another light to see if it's just my interpretation or if there is something more.
P.D.: ilove your theories and analysis.
Do you want me to be completely honest?
I have been very cautious when talking about this subject precisely because it is such a taboo.
It's not about gender, but about being brothers, it's not something natural or accepted, it's strange to think or talk about it in a general context, most people have brothers and know that the love they feel for them is fraternal.
So this forbidden love causes a lot of strangeness, even if it is in fiction.
But yes, I'm happy that the fandom is finally seeing that there is SOMETHING STRANGE in their relationship, it's not just brotherly love, right?
It does not seem.
Tsukasa blushes when he is with Amane, when he talks about him. Hanako also blushes when he is around Tsukasa. The way Tsukasa touches Hanako, panels where they are almost kissing, Hanako under Tsukasa in a suggestive position while Tsukasa puts his hands on Hanako's lips. The way Hanako looks at Tsukasa, whether when he was pointing at the stars or when he ran to hug Amane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is more evidence of romance than of a healthy sibling relationship. The way Tsukasa didn't care about anything other than fulfilling Amane's wishes…
But what about Hanako, what must he have been like with Tsukasa?
The general idea that goes through my head sometimes is that the twins fell in love with each other. For Tsukasa, in a more innocent way, that kind of love that he still doesn't understand and doesn't know how to differentiate from brotherly love, everything for him is just love.
For Hanako…. this is more problematic, Hanako is not innocent, he knows what kind of love he feels for Tsukasa, and maybe because he realizes that it is wrong, forbidden, he just buried this feeling inside his chest. Even though he felt love and desires, he seemed to want to be the "perfect" brother, as we saw in the PP arc.
Most analyzes of JSHK symbolism point to a romantic love between them, and in some cases, unilateral. An innocent twin and a pervert, opposites but with similar desires.
I always wonder why Hanako has such a latent sexual desire, as if he was repressing an old desire, and when Kako revealed this in front of Tsukasa, Hanako blushed intensely!
He literally wanted to die again, so why was he so blushing because of Tsukasa? It doesn't make sense if we don't think about the desires he might feel about Tsukasa, and because it's something shameful and forbidden, he feels bad.
"I want Tsukasa, but he's my brother, we can't! It's wrong…."
He blushed more with Tsukasa than with Nene, even when Nene kissed him on the cheek, the moment he blushed the most with her, it didn't surpass the way he blushed with Tsukasa, even his HANDS were blushed.
Think with me, Hanako wants to stop time to do any kind of perverted things, who could he stop time with so he could do whatever he wanted without anyone knowing?
He already did perverted things with Nene without needing to stop time, he can even try to do perverted things with random people, since no one sees Hanako because he's a ghost
But he couldn't touch these people even if time stopped, because in order for him to touch them the other person must be supernatural, have a sixth sense or a bond with Hanako, as in the case of Nene, Kou.
So WHO was the person he was talking about?
Touching Tsukasa with time stopped… Would it lessen Amane's guilt if Tsukasa didn't know? Hmm…..
He likes to do things in secret because he doesn't like to feel guilty, he does things knowing it's wrong, and that's why he does them in secret.
This would also explain why he was so embarrassed when Tsukasa found out that he wants to do perverted things, it was as if Kako had revealed to Tsukasa that Amane had this type of desire towards him.
A forbidden desire that Amane hides, touching Tsukasa, but he can't, so would he wish time would stop so he could do what he wants, because he believed Tsukasa would never know, would it be the only way to alleviate his desire?
When the secret was revealed, Amane felt the guilt and shame for his desires strongly.
Should I also mention the sexual connotation between eating and being devoured? Hakubo and Sumire? It was explicitly a sexual scene between the two, and well, Hanako will probably have to devour Tsukasa in the same way, so sexual connotations continue here.
Tumblr media
So, let's go to the scene of Hanako's intense crying when he sees Tsukasa kissing Nene.
Did he see the two people he is in love with kissing? And him being left out of it?
So, let's conclude, maybe this will all lead to a three-way relationship, if Nene accepts, of course. Hanako seems to be in love with both of them, and with the way things are going, we're going to see more of Amane showing love for Tsukasa.
See his look in these two situations:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's the same look…. in one panel he tells Nene that he's happy because she was the first girl who said she liked him, in the other panel he's talking about Tsukasa.
Same tender look, same look, SAME LOOK
BUT
It's just ONE of the possibilities, maybe it's just another one of those things that some manga authors put in, you know, to tease and give false clues, maybe it's just "ah, that's just a joke, they're just very close brothers" and nothing happens.
Aidairo created a game in which there were twins in love with the same girl, they also had a suggestive relationship between them, but nothing explicitly romantic was shown between them.
This is what I think will happen in JSHK, there is all this evidence that their relationship is romantic, but in the end it won't be anything canon, just suggestive moments.
I don't think Aidairo will have enough courage to put a romantic relationship between canonical brothers???? I doubt it, I would challenge her if I could, because I definitely don't believe she would put that on! Because it would be very brave of her to do that!!
Neither the romantic relationship between the twins nor the relationship between three. Tsukasa will probably disappear, Nene will stay with Hanako for a while and Amane will disappear too, Nene (if she survives) will be sad for a while and then forget.
It will be?
Everything is still hazy, I'm wandering between the two paths, do they love each other romantically or is it just Aidairo's joke?
I have no idea the answer, because the evidence is getting stronger and harder to ignore….
Anyway, remembering that I don't ship the twins and I'm not saying that this is what will happen, it's just an analysis based on their behavior.

Things to watch if your favorite show is being affected by the WGA strike
This is everything that I have watched and enjoyed. They are by no means perfect shows. This includes complete series, cancelled series, and series that are still in progress. Feel free to add your own recommendations.
Only Murders in the Building (Hulu; currently on season 3)
Murder mystery dramedy set in a wealthy NYC apartment complex
Staring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomes as three residents who decide to make a podcast about the murder
The cast has great chemistry and the twists are compelling
Gravity Falls (Hulu/Disney; ended after 2 seasons in 2014)
An animated show about a pair of fraternal twins who spend the summer with their con-man great uncle in a weird, monster filled town
Absolutely iconic children's show.
Dead End: Paranormal Park (Netflix; cancelled after 2 seasons in 2023)
Animated YA show about two teens, an exiled demon, and a pug, that all work at a haunted theme park and are investigating the disappearances of some of the staff
Similar in style to Gravity Falls
Sadly cancelled by Netflix, but there's also the graphic novels to enjoy
Reservation Dogs (Hulu, ended after season 3 in 2023)
Coming of age dramedy about four Indigenous teens living on a reservation in Oklahoma as they mourn a friend who died and dream of running away to California together
Made by an all Indigenous writers, directors, and main cast
Scrubs (Hulu; ended after 8 seasons 2010)
Workplace comedy about staff at a California hospital
Praised as the one of most medically accurate medical show
Very much a 2000s comedy. Humor can be jarring/mean by today's standards
What We Do in the Shadows (Hulu, currently on season 5)
A mockumentary following 4 vampires and their familiar that live on Staten Island as they go about their boring, pathetic lives
Makes fun of the "cool, sexy, edgy" vampire trope
Based on a 2014 movie of the same name
Dead to Me (Netflix, ended after 3 seasons in 2022)
A traumedy (trauma comedy) following a woman who's husband was killed in a hit-and-run and the perpetrator who lost her own partner and secretly befriends her
It's funny about what happens but does deal with some heavy topics so definitely look into that before watching
The Owl House (Disney; ended after 3-ish seasons in 2023)
About a young girl who wanders into the Demon Realm and decides to stay there and become of witch instead of going to summer camp
Celebrates being the weirdo and being kind to people
Made by many of the same people who did Gravity Falls
The Office (Peacock; ended after 9 seasons in 2013)
Workplace mockumentary about some bizarre people who work in a boring office space
Features a lot of cringe/second-hand embarrassment based humor
Based on the British limited series of the same name
Very much a 2000s comedy that can at times be just plain mean. Season 1 is the worst season by far so if you can get through it the character become way more likeable
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (Netflix, ended after 5 seasons in 2020)
An animated fantasy about a young soldier who simultaneously discovers that her side is the aggressor in the war and that the planet has chosen her to be it's legendary protector. This forces her to leave the only home she's known and her childhood friend to fight for the rebellion, who she thought were her enemies
A remake of the 1985 He-Man spinoff series
Very "defeat them with power of friendship and also this sword you found in the woods"
BoJack Horseman (Netflix, ended after 6 seasons in 2020)
An adult animated comedy about a self-centered, washed-up 90s sitcom actor (who is a horse) as he struggles to become famous again and break out of his destructive habits
Satirizes Hollywood, media culture, and American politics
One of those shows where you aren't supposed to admire the main characters
Big trigger warnings for this one. Seriously.
Good Omens (Amazon Prime, currently on season 2)
Follows the misadventures of a demon and an angel, a witch's descendent, two unskilled witch hunters, a sex-worker, and the antichrist and his friends as the antichrist grows into his power and brings about Armageddon, all set to Queen songs
Based on the 1990 book by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett
The fandom focuses a lot of the shipping side of the show but forget all of that if you plan to watch it
Season 2 wrecked me
Gentleman Jack (HBO Max & the BBC; cancelled after season 2 in 2022)
Based on the real diaries of Anne Lister, a wealthy lesbian in 1830s England who is looking for a wife and to expand her business enterprises
Sadly HBO pulled away and the BBC couldn't afford to make another season without them. What was made is still worth checking out.
Our Flag Means Death (HBO Max; currently on season 1)
A pirate workplace comedy/romcom that loosely follows the real life of Stede Bonnet, a wealthy landowner who ran away to become a pirate due to a mid-life crisis. He wants so badly to be a pirate captain but is far from qualified for the role.
"Traditionally, piracy is a culture of abuse...floggings, keelhaulings. And my thought is, "Why?" And also, what if it weren't like that?" really is the thesis of the show
(Edit) omg I cant believe I forgot:
Avatar: the Last Airbender (Netflix; ended after 3 seasons in 2008)
An animated children's fantasy series in which people can manipulate one of the four elements, and their peacekeeper, the Avatar, can manipulate all four. After being frozen in ice for 100 years, the 12 year old Avatar learns that the Fire Nation has begun a war that he must stop by next summer
Literally the blueprint for the modern animation that we enjoy today. IDK what else to say. It's iconic
Hilda (Netflix; ended after 2 seasons and 1 movie in 2021)
An animated children's fantasy series set in a world full of Nordic folk creatures
After spending much of her life living in the woods with her mom and her pet deerfox, Hilda is upset to learn that her mom now wants to move to Trolberg, a walled-off city where Hilda fears there is nothing interesting to do. She quickly discovers that there is just as much magic and wonder in the city as there is in the woods.
She's voiced by Bella Ramsay and the animation is beautiful. It's all all-around good vibes show.
Interview with the Vampire (AMC; currently on season 1)
After the first interview in the 70s that ended in disaster, Louis de Pointe du Lac reached out to Daniel Molloy and demanded a do-over. He goes back to his life as a black businessman in 1910s New Orleans and the complicated relationship between himself and Lestat de Lioncourt.
It's actually gay enough this time you guys.
I'd also like to add:
The Bear (FX/Hulu; currently on season 2)
A dramedy about a New York chef who inherits a failing sandwich shop after his older brother commits suicide.
Sometimes a found family isn't all sunshine and unicorns. Sometimes its a lot of screaming and resentment and cussing each other out.
It's a very stressful to watch so it's not for everyone, but if you're the type who finds that cathartic then you should give it a watch.
The Sandman (Netflix; currently on season 1)
Begins in 1916 with the capture of the god of dreams by a greedy sorcerer. After he escapes he must rebuild his realm and repair the damage done by his absence.
Trying to describe this show is really, really, difficult. It would be easier to describe what this show isn't.
Based on the DC comic of the same name by Neil Gaiman.

With Randall stuff, I’m very much someone who doesn’t care for redemption ideas or angst for the sake of angst. I’m not someone who’s entertained by characters crying over something they have no reason to cry about. It doesn’t enrich their character or make them anymore sympathetic than they already are. (Oh boohoo you’re sad you faced the consequences of your actions or life didnt work out how you planned. Are you actually going to do something about it or just wallow?) Randall’s much too vindictive and proactive for that, imo. He hasn’t shown the signs of suffering enough for that well-constructed outer layer to break.
Randall’s a character who has been written in the main movies and the spin-off show as someone who felt anxious at one point, yes. Felt the sting of failure and defeat. But certainly not remorse. He’s acted in his own self interest consistently, using other people as a step up in the hierarchy. Perhaps some of the connections he’s formed have some genuine aspects but ultimately Randall is a self serving person. He wants to succeed so that he is remembered.
But, if we want, we can look at where Randall has expressed guilt. There’s two instances we can point to: 1) Randall losing at the Scare Games and 2) Randall being banished by Sulley.
Number 2 I don’t really dwell on because it’s a moment we know only happens because Randall’s lost the upper hand. He’ll do anything to get out of that predicament, and that includes groveling. Randall’s no stranger to kissing ass or even lying to get his way. He regrets it because he got caught, and he’s afraid of what he’s being faced with. He’s losing.
Number 1, however, is worth thinking over. Because it’s not just about Randall’s embarrassment and the beginning of his heated decade long one-sided rivalry with Sulley. It’s his reaction to disappointing Johnny (and, possibly, the rest of his team). He is completely, utterly confused, and it shows all over his face that he has no idea what just happened. For something he hasn’t quite mastered control over, as a result of another’s interference, he has utterly failed himself and Johnny. And Chet, low tier, mistreated Chet, gets in on the ridicule. And this is where Randall’s only true moment of regret occurs. Not for Mike, not even truly for himself. It’s about his reputation, and the reputation of his fraternity, of his only “true friend” that he makes in the movie.
MAW emphasizes a “Johnny, Johnny, Johnny” pattern with Randall. Randall is an independent character who acts alone, but he still looks for that approval (everyone does). But he doesn’t respect anyone in the cast enough… except for Johnny. He’ll do a favor for his friend. He’ll put up with irritating an old sports injury for a friend. He’ll scare the new kid for a laugh and to see that friend laugh.
This is his “bestie” from college, who he apparently holds no ill will toward for almost replacing him with Sulley. It’s almost like if he were in the same position, he’d have done the same. There’s an equal level between the two in MAW that’s not there in MU due to Johnny’s status as frat president and Randall as the last minute replacement. In MAW, we instead see Top Scarer Randall and CEO Johnny, putting them in a dynamic closer to that of Sulley and Waternoose. But whereas they didn’t see eye to eye, Johnny and Randall are one in the same in terms of ideals, with very similar goals. And they are unburdened by an age gap and business relationship that demands professionalism.
They’re frat brothers, who’ve seen each other in all sorts of parties, mishaps, and emotional woes. Randall was probably at the guy’s wedding. I think it’s safe to say even if it’s mostly business, Randall still sees him as enough of a peer, gets along with him well enough that Johnny’s the only opinion he cares enough to hear about in our current cast.
So who exactly would Randall change for? If he were to be guilty again, what would it be for? Randall has no reason to regret what he’s done. The only people who’ve objected to his plan have been Monsters Inc. “dorks and losers” and the temporary imprisonment just adds to the misunderstood genius complex. What he has in mind to succeed is worth it. It’ll all be worth it. And Johnny agrees. And that’s the only important thing we know.

lestappen -fell first/fell harder?
Max has always wanted to connect.
His desire to talk and share with Charles isn't something new. It must have been like that since their childhood. He wanted to be friends or at least good acquaintances with Charles since their karting days. It is so clear that he has always wanted someone that raced like him as his friend not just as his rival.
I think he is better at distancing himself from what happens on the track compared to Charles. If you don't bad mouth him or if you don't pull stupid shit, he doesn't pay it back and seems more prone to just put it behind as "it is what it is". A bit like old school racers like Kimi. He just shrugs it off unless you make a huge spectacle out of it.
Charles is different. He holds grudges. He never forgets about what goes down. I sincerely think that if he hasn't had this effective pr training he currently has, he would have been the one everyone would be calling "mad" now instead of Max. There is an angry little gremlin inside of him, but he is containing it too well. That's why he had been very aloof about his relationship with people who he sees as a rival/threat to him.
Look at how he used to act around Sebastian until he realized he was going to beat him. Then, his attitude went softer and more relaxed. The interesting and strange thing here is that Max is his fated rival even tho they haven'thad a real chance to actually duke it out yet. And even though he hasn't been able to beat him, he went softer and more relaxed and downright fond of him as time went on seemingly all out of his own volition. Willingly... Even as he visibly tried to stay cool, aloof, and keep a distance. In the end, he just caved in. He gave into his own curiosity, his own burning need to understand what made Max fast, what made him smile like that even after he lost, what made him so kindly to him, what made him respect him, elevate him, insist on their equality and talent and brilliance in front of the cameras again and again. What made him seek his eyes out in a crowd as if he needed his validation, as if he even needed validation.... Wouldn't you also go crazy as you tried to solve this puzzle that's Max, who has been following you around as if you have always been best friends, talking to you as if you have always talked about trivial stuff and serious racing stuff alike in the same breath. No matter how much time passes between their each talks, Max just picks the conversation up as if no time passed at all (my beautiful son in spectrum :).
Wouldn't you also feel awkward about the ease with which he just captivates your whole attention and spins your whole world around when you had been obsessing over how the fuck he made that move stick, when the hell you will beat him, what the hell you should have done differently to stop this mother lover or how you finally showed him who is the best one, how you just smashed a spectacular win against him.... He just slots himself beside you and smiles like the sun personified. All sincere and real. God, it would have made me go mad first in frustration and then with love. I don't think anyone could have a chance. And Charles kept his ground and tried to keep the distance and the facade of disinterest admirably (read: frustratingly) long.
I firmly believe that Charles was afraid of getting closer to Max. Image wise, it might have looked bad for him to fraternize with the enemy/rival while he was losing against him. He might have been perceived as the "lesser" one among the two. I think Max sensed this and that was why he firmly insisted that Charles was his equal. In a similar car, they would be even closer. That he never tried to create this myth of "I am special and I am the sole reason that we are winning, that I am a miracle worker, an underdog who still rises despite when the whole world is against me" like some other big names, lol. Max doesn't have a big head. He always acknowledges the teamwork and lets his driving do the talking. He never gloats. He respects hardwork and talent even in his rivals, even in people who always undermined him and tried to dilute his tremendous race craft and talent. Charles slowly came to learn this and when Max destroyed that preconceived little villain boy image in Charles' mind and what the media has been feeding to everyone about Max, he realized he had no reason to stay away. That Max genuinely just wanted to talk as two normal people who shared a common passion do.
So, Max fell first because he has always known they were alike in different ways, he knew Charles like he knew himself. But Charles fell harder because he slowly got fascinated by the way Max destroyed that childhood enemy and showed him a "Max" Charles had never expected Max to be.

The Sea Beast vs Nimona
I'll preface by saying that these two movies do not need to be in competition with each other nor is the purpose of movies really to BE in competition with each other, but I noticed certain similarities in their messages that I think are worth pointing out. Particularly, I noticed that The Sea Beast does some incredible work where Nimona fails. Mainly, this will be praise for The Sea Beast with some comparisons tossed in for flavour.
Tumblr media
The Sea Beast is a movie decrying the evils of blind nationalism while acknowledging the sacrifices of those that came before both in service of and against the system. As with many good movies, a myriad of comparisons can be drawn to modern day problems. While The Sea Beast seems pretty comfortably anti-war, it could also be a more general critique of the treatment of Others. This is where the comparison with Nimona comes in as it is also about the Other (though more specifically, it appears to be about transgender identities. Again, it could be any Other identity that the majority rejects).
Tumblr media
I've expressed before that Nimona's lack of monsters hinders it because we don't really get to see the majority have to contend with them. Nimona is the first real monster anyone ever encounters and she promptly dies and is lauded as a hero. In The Sea Beast, there are monsters abound and they look very different from humans and from each other. On one hand, this is just good world and creature building, but on the more meta level, Other does in fact look different. Nimona is not wrong for this, but it seems to say that the Other looks just like you despite acting and BEING different. Again, not a bad thing, that is true. The Sea Beast's approach says that the Other does in fact look different and that can be scary, but 1) they are not a monolith; they look and act different from each other as well, and 2) they are just as capable of great intelligence and compassion.
Tumblr media
The Sea Beast also establishes the career and legacies made from violence against the Other. Nimona does this as well, but it feels lackluster. In one of the most amazing movie "tricks" I have ever seen, The Sea Beast starts by indoctrinating the viewer into their world. It shows a child stranded after a Beast attack, a little girl reading stories of heroism against the monsters to her foster siblings, a mentorship bordering on fatherhood as one man still capable of so much compassion (sacrificing his thirty year goal to uphold a code) passes on his livelihood to the boy he rescued. Aboard the Inevitable, there are women in power, fraternity abundant, all manner of diversity and none of it is ever ridiculed or played for laughs; it's a good place where everyone is happy and proud to be there. And these are the "villains." Jacob "who killed five of them beasts in the span of two days" is our loveable oafish deuteragonist. It even shows the hardships that Captain Crow faces when the king and queen try to replace him. Compare this to Nimona where the Academy is very obviously evil from the start. It is shiny and monolithic and only Bal, an outsider, seems remotely likeable. Nimona starts you with the view from outside, while The Sea Beast starts you from inside.
Tumblr media
Obviously The Sea Beasts... everything works better as an anti-war film, but other institutions are mirrored here. The Church can feel like a warm and loving place that is sometimes at war with itself and the powers that be, but it only seems that way because you belong. Every member has their own lives and families and hardships both in and outside of their religion, but that all coalesces into unjustified hatred of the Other. Of that which does not fit in. The Sea Beasts starts us off by showing how amazing and wonderful it is to be a part of the In Group and even shows them triumphantly slaying a beast... then it shows us Red's kind eyes. It shows how quickly leadership will cannibalize itself to harm something that it has always been told is harmful (that's something else I love, Captain Crow didn't start it, he's a victim too). It even shows those that profit directly from it (royalty) and those that profit from the sidelines (Batterbie). Again, more effective as anti-war, but still poignant. Where Nimona falters on this point is that the Director was the monolithic bad guy. She feared the unknown, yes, but the moment she attempted to hurt innocents, everyone turned against her. In the Sea Beasts, the crew continued to follow orders albeit less sure of themselves. It took heavy proof and an impassioned speech to get people to stop and think.
Tumblr media
On that note, Red didn't sacrifice herself for anyone. She was willing to listen to reason and to not kill the captain, but she didn't need to prove her moral superiority. That was it, reason. If she killed him, then people continue thinking monsters are only capable of violence. Especially since it was obvious he was just as brainwashed as everyone else. In Nimona, with no prompting, she decides that it is her duty to fly headfirst into a monster killing laser to protect people who, just a moment ago were stoning her as she tried to kill herself. It was a preachy mess. How much more impactful would it have been if she took the one person that was kind to her and flew out of the way and let the people look on in horror as they realize what their leaders were willing to do to harm someone who was no threat to them?
Tumblr media
In the end, The Sea Beast does a ton of leg work in just about ten minutes more to show the humanity of the oppressor and why they do what they do before stating definitely that it is no excuse. My absolute favourite thing it does is that it never goes back on Maisie's backstory. Her parents aren't actually on some island somewhere living alongside the Beasts all kumbaya, they actually are dead and they were killed by Beasts. Compassion is not a genetic trait. Maisie has as much right to hate and fear the Beasts as anyone else given what she has lost to them, same as Jacob, same as Crow and Sarah Sharpe... but she chose compassion. She learned and accepted and forgave with the knowledge that the Beasts aren't evil, just upset.

Fic-O-Ween: Day Eleven
Tumblr media
Finn and Logan are watching a Rangers’ game in the frat house. When Alex falls on the ice to be injured, Finn slightly panics.
prompts and card belong to @noots-fic-fests, and characters to @lumosinlove.
raiting: G. read it on ao3 here.
disclaimer: there is a fic that is very, very similar to this one, plot-wise, by another author in this fandom. as in, Alex is hurt and Finn packs to leave Harvard and go home to see him. I've tried to find it (I think it's from a past fest?) but nothing for now-- just want to clarify that I've had this idea 1.5 years ago-I just never finish fics on time. was actually unsure whether to post this, but just in case, I wanted to awknowledge this here in case of confusion :)) enjoy!!!
Tumblr media
Harward, 2015
The lounge smelled of beer, sweat, and ten different types of snacks. A normal day in a frat house. The big projector, gift of one of the ex-members of the fraternity, was showing the glory of the MSG stadium, in a commotion of blue, red and white. The Rangers were winning, and Finn’s eyes were shining. He looked like he must have been many Christmas mornings ago, Logan thought. He was grinning hard, crunching the freckles on his nose and showing the sharp canines. For Logan, looking away from the biggest eyes he’d ever seen to follow the game was getting harder by the minute.
They were both sitting on the carpet, full of crumbles and dirt from the running shoes of the early risers. Finn had been sitting at the center of the couch when the match had begun, but all the bouncing and jumping at every pass Alex received had confined him to the floor.
But no one really minded him. He was beaming and cheering for his brother, just like they all did for all the ex-students who had lived in the house. The feeling that one day, someone in the same room might be cheering for them like that…it was addicting.
Finn would grab Logan’s shoulder every time his brother came close to the net- which was an unfair number of times. O’Hara, the Hazard, Blue Hound O’Hara. He was living the dream, and, by the last few seasons, he was doing a pretty good job at that. He moved quickly, shot hard, and was able to joke even with the refs and the Claws.
“Yes, Klein, yes—”
“Fucking pass it, can’t you see he’s free—”
“YES!”
Klein to Lundqvist. Great attempt at intercepting it by 43 Bones. Lundqvist to O’Hara, 43 is on them, O’Hara to—oh, the refs stop the game. Is it…?
Yep, we have a man on the floor. It’s O’Hara.
Logan felt Finn stiffen at his side.
He isn’t getting up, Jim.
He isn’t, Jerry. The medical support is on the ice, and his team is checking on him. Let’s look at the hit again while he’s assisted.
Oh, yeah, you can see him and Bones, eyes on the puck, and he gets slammed against the boards with number 43 on him. Nasty hit.
Here’s the slow motion. A really bad angle. And again. It really is worse when you don’t see it coming for you. O’Hara surely gained something since his rookie year, but Bones is still a 6’4 defender. We’re back on the ice, he’s still not sitting up. But we see a thumbs up.
The stretcher is there, and…up he goes. His teammates are accompanying him to the boards, and the stadium is showing support.
Yeah, even Ravenclaw is tapping their sticks, great sportsmanship right here. I don’t know about you, Jim, but I like these moments. Let’s hope for nothing serious. O’Hara is a great center, class ’92…
The room sobered as no one dared to look at Finn. For the few seconds of the break, everyone stilled into silence. When Logan eventually turned, Finn’s eyes were still on the screen. Right were Alex, helmet off and a thumb up, had disappeared down the tunnel.
“Finn, hey man…” Percy tried, a hand reaching the redhead’s shoulder.
Finn gently pulled away, and he got up without meeting anyone’s gaze. “Sorry, I, I’ll be back in a sec.”
Logan opened his mouth, only for no words to come out. His hand instinctively moved as if to grab Finn’s sweater, but Finn was already sprinting upstairs. A low rumble of concerned murmurs filled the room. Someone was already rewatching the hit on their phones, and Logan had to look away. He got on his feet without really knowing what to do, only thinking that he was there, and Finn was upstairs. He felt in the wrong place.
He threw a hesitant glance at the boys still muttering, before taking a step back. Will looked up at him, then exchanged an imperceptible look with Percy, and nodded.
“Yeah, Tremz. Let us know if he…yeah, go.”
The colors on Finn’s sweater were fading. The blue was flat, after what must have been five years or washing machine, and the red of the letters and numbers paled next to Finn’s hair. He was sitting on his bed while playing with a hole in the sleeve, his phone squished in between his cheek and his shoulder.
“No, I know, mom. I’m fine. No, don’t worry, I’m-I’m sure he’s okay. Just call me after you see him, alright?” His voice was low, and small. He nodded a few times. “Hm. Yeah, bye. Love you, too.”
Logan stood on the doorstep in silence, looking at Finn. He was looking at the black screen of his phone one moment, and closing his eyes with a sigh the next.
“Don’t just stand there, Lo. Come in.”
The old bed squeaked as Logan sat next to him. Then scooted closer.
Finn rested his head on Logan’s shoulder, and Logan felt his palms burning until he found relief in placing one on Finn’s thigh.
More silence.
“Why do they always show the hit a million times?” Finn’s voice was small. Sadder than Logan had ever heard it leave his mouth.
He hummed, placing his head against Finn’s. “Don’t know.”
They both knew why, though. Statistics. Tapes. Dynamics. Entertainment. Business.
Finn scooted closer. “No one needs to see that.”
“True.”
“Especially when—just, why. Let’s not show the hits.”
“D’accord.” The slow circles Logan was tracing on Finn’s leg seemed to soothe him. But his breathing was far too careful to be calm. He looked up at the ceiling. “You know, Sydney took a stick through the mask last season.”
“Oh, fuck. Ouch.”
“Ouais, ouch. She was on a roadie, and I was watching the game on my phone, at boarding school. She didn’t need stitches, but it was a close thing.” He licked his lips. “She was in…Calgary, I think, and I was in my room. Not being able to be with her was driving me mad.”
Some silence.
“I don’t care what he says, I’m going home for the weekend,” Finn muttered.
Logan nodded. He thought of Finn’s bed, across the room, empty and cold. “D’accord.”
He could lay on it for a minute if he locked the door.
Finn laughed, and that made Logan smile. The tension leaving the shoulders against his own made Logan feel better about himself. Then the phone rang. Finn was on his feet in one moment.
“Alex?”
“Hey, buddy.”
“What—what was that, Al? What happened? What hurts? What do the pt’s say?”
“Finn, it’s okay. It’s not that bad, I swear. It always looks worse than it is, you know that.”
“Alex,” Finn pleaded.
“Just a few bruised ribs. Not even broken. Three weeks off and then I’ll be good as new.”
Finn faced the window, maybe to hide red eyes.
“Fish, I promise. I’m okay. They’ll give me some anti-inflammatory meds and that’s it.”
Logan heard him pause a second. Then, a groan.
“I’m coming home for the weekend,” Finn blurted out.
“Finn.”
“Alex.”
“Finnother.”
“Alexandrette.”
“I’ll be boring, just so you know. No morning runs or skating.”
“’s okay. You’re always boring.”
“That’s what I like to hear in times like these.”
There was some noise from the other part, and a thanks, man, muttered by Alex.
“Mum and dad are there?” Finn asked, shifting on the bed.
“Since when do I call mom ‘man’?”
“I dunno, you’re weird like that.”
“Just the new guy bringing me my stuff.”
Finn frowned, finding Logan’s hand. “Is he nice?”
“Yeah. I guess. Just different.”
Finn nodded. His grip tightened. Alex couldn’t see him but seemed to know.
“Finn?”
Alex sounded tired.
“Hm.”
“Did I scare you?”
Finn spluttered, outraged, before letting out a groan. “Alex, you fell on the ice and didn’t get up. Didn’t move for—forever. Of course you scared me, you weirdo.”
“Smarty pants.”
“Dick head.”
“Nerd.” A pause. “I’m sorry, Fish. I’ll be okay.”
“Do you promise?”
“I promise.”
“Good. You better.” Finn’s hand left Logan’s for the two seconds it needed to wipe away a single tear.
“I can hear mom yelling from the corridor.”
“She’s there to finish what Bones started,” Finn laughed, and Logan finally felt the final tension leave his shoulders. “I’ll leave you to it. Have fun, in fact.”
“Ha. See you, Fish.”
“This weekend,” Finn nodded. “I, huh, I love you man.”
“Love you, too, Finn. Really.”
Finn closed the call and took a deep breath.
More silence.
When Logan tried to get up, an arm blocked him.
“Stay there.”
“The guys will wonder where we are.” Someone might come in.
Finn just placed his head back on Logan’s shoulder, getting comfortable. “Just two bros chilling, recovering from sorrow.”
Logan smiled, eyes drifting away from the half-open door. I can work with that.

Washington sibs hcs n thoughts n stuff
They're actually triplets, Josh being born on the 31st of January and Han and Beth being on the 5th of February.
They were all born in 1995.
They're all fraternal.
Josh and Han are both trans.
Hannah and Beth are both 5'8 (as it says on their missing posters) and Josh is 5'7 (based of the actor's height).
Both Hannah and Beth are shown to be decently sporty, and both joined school clubs for tennis and football n stuff. Josh is also decently active but didn't care to actually join any teams or anything.
Beth is the youngest but she often was the one who looked out for the other two in school. Moreso Hannah than Josh.
Hannah met Sam in 3rd grade not too long after Josh met Chris, and Beth met Jess and Em in 5th.
Hannah met Sam in her gym class when they were put in the same team for dodgeball.
Beth met Jess and Em because she sat close to them and Jess talks to everyone.
Beth likes hockey as well.
Beth plays lots of instruments, mostly guitar though.
In 1st to 3rd grade, before they really made close friends, the three of them just kind of stuck with eachother as much as possible, though Beth was really quite popular because she was the most outgoing.
Hannah always liked collecting stuff like feathers, rocks and bones. Josh and her would often go out looking around for those types of things, especially up on Blackwood.
Around the time of the prologue, Hannah is quite lean in figure, tall and strong. Beth is tall but slumps a lot more and is a bit stockier, but also strong. Josh is pretty similar to Beth.
Hannah loves bugs, Beth is neutral to them and Josh hates them.
Hannah has a pet spider (Josh hates it).
Up at the lodge they enjoy doing general maintenance work like chopping firewood.
They can all shoot (Bob taught them all at the firing range) but only Josh actually found any sort of enjoyment from it.
Beth's full name is Bethany (I was torn between that and Elizabeth for ages but then I leaned Bethany means 'house of suffering' and I think that fits with the game better, so).
As kids they were all scared of the lodge at night because it is haunted asf.
Josh once saw one of the monsters when he was a small child and he still vaguely remembers it but puts it up to childhood imagination.
Beth had lots of weird experiences in the lodge (hearing the whispers n stuff) that she never told anyone because she didn't want to freak her siblings out.
Beth has gotten into trouble for fighting at school because of people being mean to Hannah, very quickly everyone learned not to be mean to her.
Hannah was actually quite well liked in her sports teams and stuff.
Josh and Chris met Ashley in 6th grade when she moved to California.
Her and Sam brought Matt into the friend group in highschool (9th grade, I think that is).
Beth, Jess and Em brought Mike into the group in 10th grade, again they met him because Jess is friendly and chatty with most people.
They have a few cousins that would visit in the summer, or vice versa. They're a little younger but they get on fine.
They all learn to drive but Josh is usually the one designated to do so.
They have gone on roadtrips with just the 3 of them, usually to the middle of nowhere and Josh will try to creep them out when they're visiting forests and stuff.
They have definitely explored old abandoned buildings together.
Josh always packs extra stuff (clothes, food etc) because Hannah and Beth are both likely to forget something.
Both Hannah and Josh are very artsy people, and they can draw really well. Beth isn't as interested in that.
Can't think up any more rn so done.

Got Bored. Decided to make some more engine Picrews.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From Top to Bottom, Left to Right:
Duck the Great Western Engine
Donald and Douglas the Scottish Twins
Bill and Ben the China Clay Twins
Also yes, Ben is basically just Bill flipped. I have my reasons.
My headcanon for (humanized) Donald and Douglas is that they are actually fraternal twins who happen to look very similar to each other. When they escaped to Sodor, Douglas cut his hair and changed his look so that he'd look more similar to Donald, making it more difficult to tell the two apart. Once their position on Sodor became secure, the twins started to branch out again and the differences in their appearances became more obvious.
Bill and Ben, on the other hand, are ACTUAL identical twins. And since they're always together making mischief, the only way you could really tell them apart is that their hair parts in opposite directions. Bill's parts from the right while Ben's parts on the left. Hence the flipped canvas. That said, sometimes they'd change their hair parting just to mess with people. In which case, the only one who could really tell them apart is Edward.

Two Sunshine Interviews, 2007
Not Just A Pretty Boy: Chris Evans Lights Up The Screen
Director Danny Boyle calls 'Fantastic Four' actor 'really very special.'
MTV Movies
By Shawn Adler, July 13, 2007
Look quickly at Chris Evans and you're bound to see him as a pretty-boy actor, one of those open faces that would seem more suited to an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog or a fraternity kegger than a nuanced drama. Look quickly at the roles he's chosen, like in "Fantastic Four" or "Not Another Teen Movie" or "The Perfect Score," and you're bound to think of him as silly and lightweight, a hotshot who, as Human Torch/ Johnny Storm, actually plays, well, the consummate hotshot.
Look quickly at Chris Evans, however, and you're bound to miss the most important thing about him -- this boy can act.
"Well, he's a superb actor, and I'm not saying that just 'cause he's in my film. I think he's brilliant," director Danny Boyle said of the 26-year-old actor, whom he cast in the sci-fi epic "Sunshine." "He's a very talented guy, a thoroughbred really. He's a bit of a Mary Poppins -- he can pull anything out of the bag."
"Anything," of course, isn't exactly the word that comes to mind when thinking of Evans' most popular roles (which actually are pretty much his only roles -- the "Cellular" star has only appeared in 10 films). To the casual observer, his characters tend to be more similar than not -- so similar, in fact, that it's tough to look at his filmography and not wonder if Evans isn't just playing some amplified version of himself.
Not so, said Boyle, who cited a lack of opportunity -- not skill -- for the misperceptions about Evans' talent.
"The casting director [for 'Sunshine'] said, 'You should meet this guy, he's underestimated by people.' He came in the room [and was] superb. I cast him and that was it," the director recalled. "I hope he can get stuff that shows his talent 'cause he's really very special."
For Evans, "Sunshine" was that special opportunity, a chance to show a different side of himself while simultaneously working for one of his favorite directors: "Two birds with one stone," he said.
"At the end of the day us actors are here to make good movies -- that's what I love about this business. [But] if you don't have a good director you won't have a really good movie," Evans said. "So if you've got a good director inviting you to work for him, you jump at that opportunity. And that's what Danny offered me."
Working for Boyle offered benefits beyond making a good movie, however, strengthening Evans' belief that in order to be a successful actor you have to "check your ego at the door," he said.
"A lot of times as an actor you are experimenting, you're trying things and you need an anchor. If you're trying something and you're getting off the path, you need your director to come in and reel you in. [You need to tell him,] 'I trust your internal barometer of what's good and what's bad and it's going to protect me,' " Evans revealed of his process. "Danny could have said, 'Try the next take in Spanish,' and I would have said, 'All right.' "
Johnny Storm no more (at least until producers call for a the sequel), Evans will soon take that lesson into more eclectic fare, from playing the dimwitted lead in "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," an adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play, to a cop alongside Forest Whitaker in James Ellroy's "The Night Watchmen" to an Iraq War veteran in "Under the Blue Sky."
It's a mix that pleases Evans, he said, smiling broadly. "I like to go see movies that are dramatic. I like to get internal when I watch films. I like to cry when I watch movies. I like being emotional," he divulged. "The truth is, I like acting, period."
Do yourself a favor -- look closer.
Also from MTV in 2007, a small snippet of a tv interview. Thanks once again to the Chris Evans Archives for keeping this alive! (It's the bottom video.)

Greetings ✨
I wanted to ask if u could make some headcanons about a reader that's Tsuna's (younger) twin sibling? And just kinda how that affects their relationship with the guardians (if that's too many, maybe just Tsuna and Gokudera)?
(btw I am the anon that asked for the gokudera + shy but affectionate s/o and I just wanted to say I absolutely adored those headcanons, thank you so much for writing them 🥺❣️)
I hope you have a wonderful day👋
omg hiii lovely, this is such a cute idea so I tried my best with it! It isn't super fleshed out, because I had to kind of fill in gaps of how his sibling's personality would be like, but here are some of my thoughts :')
♡ Tsuna w/ a twin ✧
Tumblr media
CW!! mention of death (in the original TYL timeline), maybe a biiit of a stretch/OOC
༚✧⁺˳₊˚‿︵‿︵‿୨୧ · ˳ · ♡ · ˳ · ୨୧‿︵‿︵‿˚₊˳⁺✧༚
Tsuna with a younger twin sounds so adorable, I think they would have a great relationship and his sibling would be his number one supporter, despite the pressure he feels from his parents. When he’s feeling down on his luck, he always turns to them for a willing ear and words of support. Coming from a similar cultural background, I think that Nana would have been harsher on Tsuna growing up because she had higher expectations for him being the older brother (“not by much!” he always argues when his younger sibling tries to leverage their being 20 minutes younger to get what they want), but at some point she kind of shifts to focusing more of her hopes in his sibling, especially if they were doing better academically.
Now, depending on if y’all are fraternal or identical twins, Gokudera would have had a field day learning that Tsuna has a twin sibling if it was the latter. I can imagine his “That.. that wasn’t Decimo?! Oh I’M SO SORRY, HOW COULD I EVER MIX UP THE TWO OF THEM, MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES DECIMOANSDKJANSD” (proceeds to sulk)
I really like this concept, because it changes what happens in the future as well. I can only assume that Tsuna’s sibling would have a sky flame as well, and they would technically be next in line for being the boss if Tsuna.. y’know. The guardian that would be most tense about this would be Gokudera. He would want to make a good image of himself for them, since they’re Tsuna’s family... but there’s also a seed of suspicion in him, especially early on, when he begins to overthink about how.. messy, mafia inheritance can be. I think as time went on, Tsuna’s sibling would fight alongside the family, and when things got really bad in the future, the sibling was actually the one that everyone had to turn to in the event of Tsuna’s passing. Technically, that timeline has been written over, but there’s probably a ton of mixed feelings about it from the guardians, because Tsunayoshi had really grown into the perfect boss for the family. His twin just knew him the best out of everyone, so they had to step up when Tsuna was gone. The guardians respect them greatly, but to have to face someone that looks exactly like Tsuna would really break their hearts, and some (Gokudera, Ryohei, and Lambo) would have a harder time hiding their mixed feelings.
When Tsuna first went missing in the present, his twin lost their appetite, and it truly felt like a part of them was gone. I really like the idea that they had to find each other again in the future, because they were transported at different times, and Tsuna definitely cried tears of joy to see the familiar face of his twin in the future.
In natural younger sibling fashion, I think his twin is actually the more aggressive one. They’re more extroverted, but their temper is worse, and they aren’t afraid to say it like it is. This is likely from standing up for their loser-Tsuna twin brother in their childhood years. I think Tsuna’s twin would get along very well with Ryohei, with them actually wanting to push Tsuna to join a club and put himself out there more, which Ryohei really agrees with. Lambo, in childhood, would probably start beef with Tsuna’s twin, just to run and hide with Tsuna because he knows that Tsuna’s the good cop of the duo, but when he’s grown up, he actually ends up being more respectful/afraid of Tsuna for how much he’s changed as he grew into being a mafia don.
Chrome… is amicable with his twin. They’re friendly and respect each other, since they also defended her when Gokudera was giving her shit when she first met him. If Tsuna’s twin hangs out with Kyoko and Haru often, then they’re likely to be one of the girls™.
Yamamoto likes pretending that he can’t tell them apart, even if they’re fraternal. However, he is one of the people that has actually never mixed them up.
Hibari took the longest time to notice that the twin existed, because his fascination with Tsuna grew very slowly, and by extension, his opinion on the people around him and the other Sawada.
Mukuro.. tried to possess the twin to either pretend to be Tsuna, or to leverage them for Tsuna. They kind of became his.. plan b in case possessing the future Decimo did not work out. He speaks to Tsuna in a weird and semi-threatening way, but somehow he's even weirder and more threatening to the sibling because their reactions amuse him.

a/n: hey guys!! so sorry for the long wait. life got in the way and i wasn’t able to update as much as i would have liked, but we’re back!! :) i hope you guys enjoy!
pairings: obito uchiha x fem!reader
warnings: modern au, mentions of past hookups, brief arguing, very happy ending.
The Beach: Chapter Thirty-Three
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter | Masterlist
Tumblr media
The past several days had been complete shit for Obito Uchiha.
His mind never stopped working. He constantly had these thoughts and they all circled back to the same thing, and that was you.
Obito felt horrible for what he had done and said about you. He spent many hours laying in bed thinking about how you knew what he said about you. There was this heavy guilt that plagued his heart every time your angry face flashed into his mind. In all honesty, it haunted him every night he closed his eyes. He knew he was the one who fucked up here. He let his emotions and jealousy get the best of him and that was extremely wrong on so many levels. Obito wished he could turn back the clock and just contain himself for a moment. He should have just opened his eyes to the bigger picture and talked it out with you instead of being a stubborn asshole about the whole thing. He knew you hated him. He could see it in the way your expression twisted with frustration when you saw him. You had every right to dislike him. He said terrible things that were honestly unforgivable, and it didn’t surprise him that you were unwilling to talk.
He knew he liked you. He honestly always would, and that’s what hurt him the most.
He wished he could hug you one more time or just have one last conversation, because truly, you made him happy. Obito knew he was lying when he said that you didn’t mean shit to him. If anything, you were his world. You saw the good and the bad in him, and yet, you still stuck around him. That was the first time in his entire life that he felt.. important to somebody else. He wasn’t a second option when it came to you. He felt valued and heard, unlike the previous encounters he’s had with other girls. He was an idiot to have lost you, and now he was paying the price for not listening to you.
Not only that, but he also tarnished his relationship with his best friend.
Kakashi refused to even look at Obito after the two had gotten physical that one day. He acted as if Obito didn’t even exist and he went about his days without a single problem. Shisui even claimed that Obito was lucky that Kakashi didn’t report the altercation to the fraternity head, because he could have easily been removed from the frat within the snap of a finger. There was no way to justify such a thing either. He knew that picking a fight like that was absolutely uncalled for and he should have listened to Kakashi, but he didn’t. He couldn’t pull his head out of his ass and just talk it out. He had to face the consequences of his actions and had to understand the facts of what he had done. He fucked up, and bad.
Despite that, Obito wanted to make things right. If you weren’t going to talk to him, he at least wanted to salvage his relationship with Kakashi. He cared too much about his friendship with him and letting it go without even making an attempt to communicate would make it much worse for him. Maybe things won’t ever be the same again between them, but he wanted to try. The last thing he hoped for was another argument or a possible physical event, but he doubted that would occur. Kakashi was never the type to fight about stuff like that.
The day was pleasant. The sun was high in the sky and the air was quite warm, but not as humid as it has been the past few days. Obito had finished up the last of his classes for the day and returned to the frat house. He knew Kakashi would be there because they had a very similar schedule when it came to time slots. He also saw his car sitting in the driveway of the large house, so there was no way he wasn’t there. He figured he would finally break the ice after weeks of not speaking with his best friend. It was somewhat difficult to come up with a good amount of words to explain himself, but in the end, Obito knew he wasn’t a victim here. He was going to let Kakashi speak for once and let him explain his side of the story. There were clearly missing pieces of the puzzle that he needed to fill him in on.
Once inside of the house, Obito realized how quiet it was. Most of the other guys were still at school or they were out and about doing whatever they wanted. However, Obito could hear someone shifting around in the kitchen. His heart began to slam rapidly inside his chest from how nervous he was. He feared the worst out of this situation, but he knew that Kakashi’s feelings were entirely valid in the whole situation. He wasn’t going to make him feel like he was dramatic or overreacting about it at all.
He removed his shoes and tossed his backpack somewhere onto the floor. Obito then walked into the kitchen where he saw Kakashi leaning against the counter. He didn’t seem to notice his presence at first since he was on his phone, but that quickly disappeared when the floorboard squeaked from the pressure of Obito’s foot pressing against it.
“Hey, can we talk?”
Kakashi’s eyes settled on where Obito was standing just a few feet away. There was a side of him that grew extremely defensive over what he was seeing. He didn’t really trust Obito at the moment, considering what happened just a few weeks prior. Though, Kakashi was very shocked to see his best friend standing there, almost defeated. He didn’t expect him to give in to anything, especially after what had gone down between them. He wondered if Obito had a change of heart all of the sudden. He wasn’t sure if he had spoken to you, though. It made Kakashi curious. “Sure, what is it?” he shoved his phone into his pocket, placing all of his attention onto Obito.
Obito stepped a few inches closer before pausing where the tile floor met the carpet. He could sense the tension developing in the air between them. It had been that way for quite some time. They couldn’t even stand in a room with each other without wanting to tear their heads off, but that had to change. “I just.. I wanted to say I’m sorry.. for everything that I’ve done or said these past few weeks.” he looked down at the floor for a brief moment. “I’ve been.. a horrible friend to you, and I understand if saying sorry isn’t going to cut it. I just want you to know that I regret everything and you didn’t deserve what I did to you.”
Kakashi was stunned to hear such words come from Obito’s mouth. He wasn’t sure if he was lying or not, but if he was, he was a good liar. However, he wasn’t sensing anything other than sincerity coming from the man. He just wasn’t sure what to say to him. He was pissed at Obito still, angry even. What happened between them shouldn’t have happened in the first place and it could have been easily prevented if he would have just sat down and listened, but considering that it all came from Rin of all people, Kakashi understood why it might have caused a reaction. It wasn’t an excuse, but maybe it was somewhat of an explanation for his behavior.
He placed his hands behind him to rest on the counter. He blew out air from his nose to try and think a little better. He wasn’t sure if he should be forgiving. Obito fought him and put his hands on him over you. It was a scary situation, but in some ways, maybe he deserved it for hanging out with you knowing they had problems. No, that wasn’t right. Kakashi was just being a good friend to you. He had to explain that to him. “I understand.. and I don’t know if I can ever forgive you properly for that.” he saw Obito tense and nod his head with a frown on his face. He seemed genuinely guilty and sorry for what he had done. “But.. I understand your anger. I wasn’t planning on telling you my history with (Y/N) because I felt like it wasn’t important. You like her and I didn’t want to be that guy and ruin it for you, but just so you know, I see her as a friend and my intention was never to hurt you or her for that matter.”
Obito processed the information inside his head. He sounded like he was being honest. It just sucked that he turned to such a negative response when he first heard about that information. Kakashi also didn’t have to share that stuff if he didn’t want to. It was your business with him and it wasn’t like the two of you were doing it on purpose to spite him. “Still.. I’m sorry for being an asshole. I hurt you and (Y/N) and neither of you deserved such a thing.” he said, sounding more serious this time. “But.. how did Rin even find out?”
Kakashi honestly had no idea. He wondered the same thing for weeks after she had exposed it to Obito. He knew she had information on lots of people at school, but he never knew she had that kind of dirt on Kakashi. He kept what happened a secret and he never told a single soul, so unless Rin somehow saw you two, he had no fucking clue how she managed to figure it out. “No idea.. I never told her anything and she wasn’t with me the night it happened, so it beats me.” he shrugged. “I only slept with (Y/N) to try and help her with a breakup.. she was with this shitty guy and I wanted to be a good friend and help. I only went back a few weeks ago to see what was going on with her, but I promise you we did not do anything.”
As much as he hated hearing that, Obito felt relief knowing that you two didn’t do it out of romantic feelings. He was a horrible guy and you needed a friend at the moment, so it was only right that Kakashi went and checked up on you. If he was you, he would have appreciated that more than anything else in the world. “I understand.. I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions. I just believed that she liked you or something and she was just using me, you know?” he looked at his friend who was nodding his head at his words.
Kakashi chuckled. “I get that, but trust me, she’s a good friend and I know she likes you. She would never use you and she knows all too well how it feels to be used.” he replied. “But.. I think we need to speak to Rin. I want to clear the air on some things.”
Obito couldn’t help but agree. He still had many questions and his relationship with her was completely broken now. He wasn’t sure if he could even trust her properly with what she had done to him and Kakashi. Not even gonna lie, she sounded like she had some malicious motive behind the entire thing and it wasn’t sitting right with Obito whatsoever. “Yeah.. I just.. I don’t know if I can ever be her friend again.” he looked at Kakashi, seemingly unsure of what to do.
Kakashi nodded his head in agreement. He had a point. What happened was completely messed up and the person who made it come to this point was Rin of all people. Kakashi could patch things up with Obito, but could he do the same with Rin? Hell, he wasn’t sure how she knew. There was a side of him that was still angry that she betrayed his trust in the end, but in some ways he knew that the information he hid for so long would eventually come out. He just wished it wasn’t someone else telling the story. The way she told it made Kakashi seem like he was doing this to get at Obito, which wasn’t true at all. He would never do such a thing like that with bad intent.
He unlocked his phone and searched for Rin’s contact. The last time he had spoken to her was a while ago. He wasn’t sure if he could have a proper conversation with her without possibly going off or something along those lines. However, he knew he would have to talk it out whether he liked it or not. “I’m gonna message her and hopefully all of this can get cleared up.” he began to type a message, which made Obito somewhat nervous.
Kakashi: we should talk, come over whenever you can.
Immediately, Rin read the message. It was almost like she was awaiting it to come through. Kakashi wasn’t nervous, but he wondered what she was going to say. She could have a mix of reactions and it was completely unpredictable. The last thing he wanted was another fight between the three of them. He was so tired of arguing and yelling at everyone that it drained him completely. He wanted to move on. He desired the most to put this whole thing behind him and just keep living his life without a care in the world. Most of all, though, he wanted closure from the entire situation. He knew he wouldn’t be able to forgive Rin or Obito, but if he could break the ice that froze over their friendships, he would be fine with that.
His phone buzzed slightly, catching his attention. Rin had responded to his text fairly quickly.
Rin: alright, i’ll be there in 10.
Kakashi reacted to the message and left it as that. He knew when she would come that things might hit the fan, so he had to prepare himself for that. Kakashi didn’t want to argue with her or get hostile, but knowing Rin, anything was possible. She knew what she was doing that day. That’s what made Kakashi angry. She spilled that information knowing what could happen and she had the audacity to play the victim? It was ridiculous and he questioned even remaining an acquaintance with her. She’d probably tell Obito weird stories to fill his head if anything.
“Do you still want to be her friend after all this?”
Kakashi’s eyes lifted to focus on Obito. Both of the men seemed unsure of cutting off the friendship with her, because to be frank, she caused the entire thing. She was the one who opened her mouth and exposed secrets that weren’t anybody else’s business but Kakashi. It was unfair, and extremely uncalled for in the end. Kakashi still had no idea how Rin knew. It wasn’t like you and Rin were friends, so it was confusing how she found out. He also didn’t mention it to any other person in the frat, or even in his friend group. She still crossed a boundary at the end of the day and that event led to so many things spiraling out of his control.
Then again, Obito wasn’t innocent either.
The two both got into a physical altercation over a complete misunderstanding. Obito was being stubborn over the entire thing and wasn’t willing to listen to Kakashi, which was also unfair. Both of their actions were uncalled for and they were at fault. Kakashi knew in some ways it wouldn’t be right to forgive Obito and not Rin, but he wasn’t the one who started the entire thing.
Kakashi leaned against the counter. He then crossed his arms and stared at Obito who was awaiting his response to his question. “No idea.. but I don’t think I wanna be friends with someone who causes problems and spreads my business when it’s convenient for them.” he shrugged. “I just wanna know what she has to say for herself.”
Obito nodded his head. “Yeah.. me too.”
The door to the entrance had suddenly opened without warning. Obito and Kakashi knew full well who was there, and the two prepared themselves mentally for the conversation that was about to go down. It wasn’t going to be easy. They knew it was going to be uncomfortable and difficult, but it had to be cleared up sooner or later. They just hoped that Rin wouldn’t put up some dumb fight over it. She had a habit of sometimes becoming overly dramatic or making the situation worse. Neither of them were looking for a fight, not anymore.
Rin then appeared in the doorway of the kitchen. She seemed just as tense as the two men were. It was almost as if her presence had completely shifted the atmosphere. It felt thick and hard to breathe in, but this was a conversation that had been much needed for a very long time. “Hey.. guys.” she avoided their eyes for a while, choosing to place her vision onto the tiled floor.
Kakashi shifted around and Obito sort of cleared his throat. It was awkward. The trio hadn’t properly spoken in weeks and this was the first time they had come in contact with one another in a calm fashion. It was clear nobody was looking for a fight, but there was also thag preparation between them. It could easily happen if things were taken in the opposite direction. “Hey..” Kakashi broke the silence that enveloped between them. “We should all talk.. I kind of cleared the air with Obito already, but we figured we should do the same with you as well.”
The brunette nodded her head. She then stepped closer to the two, so she could pay attention to them more clearly. “Sure.. I’m listening.” she played with her car keys, clearly nervous. She wasn’t sure what was about to happen or what was going to be said, but she had been preparing for some kind of conversation for a while.
Obito looked over at her. He honestly couldn’t believe that he had a crush on her for so long, yet she turned around and was a complete backstabber. Not only that, he was blinded by her intentions the whole time. Being with you made him realize that. It sort of gave him that time to look at things through a different lense and see that Rin was just.. stringing him along this entire time. It was obvious now who she wanted, but it felt unfair. Nobody deserved to have gone through that, and it didn’t make her any better of a person. “Why did you tell me about what happened between Kakashi and (Y/N)? And how did you even know?” he questioned, turning to face her.
Rin was quiet for a moment. She seemed unsure of what to say to them, because it didn’t matter what she said, she still didn’t come out as the good guy in the end. In all honesty, this was her moment to be honest about everything and come clean. If there was even a small chance she could salvage their friendship with them, this would be the moment to do it.
She took a deep breath, clearing her mind. Her heart was thumping against her rib cage rapidly. She was nervous, very nervous. “I don’t know.. I just let a lot of stuff get into my head, especially for my personal feelings for Kakashi.” she glanced over at the man who didn’t seem very phased by her words. “I didn’t mean for this to happen.. really. I just saw her speaking with you both and thought something more was happening, but I didn’t think it would reach this point.”
Kakashi scoffed, making the two look over at them. The tension in the air began to rise and he didn’t seem very happy with her response. In some way, he didn’t believe a single word out of her mouth. What did she mean she didn’t think it would come to this point? She just thought that Kakashi wouldn’t be mad at her and would just believe that she did it to make them feel better? No, that’s clearly not her motive. She definitely did this out of malice, especially for your sake. “I don’t believe that one bit. How the fuck did you even know? This was MY business, Rin, and you knew that. I don’t care if this wasn’t your intent, you still spilled out shit I would have rather kept hidden.” he argued. “I don’t believe that, not one bit. You betrayed my trust and fucked with things between Obito and (Y/N). It wasn’t right.”
Obito had to agree with him. There was something about her vibe that just seemed off and he wasn’t having it with her. He just wasn’t sure if there was any room left for him to trust her ever again. “Yeah.. it wasn’t right in any aspect, and people got hurt in the end. I can understand if it was to let me know, but you put it in such a manner that made me dislike Kakashi. It’s completely different if he told me and cleared the air.” he crossed his arms over his chest, staring at her.
Rin chewed on the inside of her cheek. She was honestly speechless and didn’t know what else to say. She tried her best to explain her side, but it didn’t seem like things were looking good for her. She had to admit defeat, and she was fine with that. “Yeah.. you’re right and I’m sorry for that.” she nodded her head, trying her best to sound genuine with the two men.
It was silent for a bit.
None of them really knew what to say, but Kakashi still didn’t trust her. He knew she was apologizing and she was sorry, but how did he know she wouldn’t do this again? This stuff could repeat and if it did who knows if it would be worse than the last. Kakashi wasn’t trying to fight with his best friend again, especially over a girl. It was stupid and he wished it didn’t happen. It could have been easily prevented, but he just wished that he knew more than she did.
“I don’t think we should be friends after this.”
Kakashi was stunned to hear that Obito had spoken up first. He thought that he would be the one to break the ice, but Obito? There must have been something that changed his mind.
Rin seemed appalled by his words. She had her eyebrows raised and her eyes were almost popping out of her head. She couldn’t believe it, but it wasn’t like she wasn’t expecting such a thing to be said. She wished it didn’t come to this, really. She loved being friends with the two boys, but she dug her own grave. This was a result of her poor judgment and selfish desires that were coming back to bite her in the behind. Karma truly was a bitch. “I see.. I understand.” she looked down at the floor, avoiding their eyes. “I appreciate you guys talking this out beforehand.”
Kakashi shook his head. “Yeah..”
They all sort of stared at one another for one last time. Rin then nodded and made her way out of the house, leaving Obito and Kakashi by themselves. The two were somewhat surprised that she didn’t put up much of a fight. Kakashi wondered if she felt some kind of guilt for what she had done to them and you, but none of that mattered now, she had done something bad and was now facing the consequences. She was undeserving of their friendship.
Once the door shut, Kakashi looked over at Obito who still seemed a bit shocked at what had gone down. There was one more thing Kakashi had to say to his friend.
“You need to fix things with (Y/N).”
Hearing your name slip from his lips made Obito’s eyes grow wide. He was shocked to hear that Kakashi would suggest such a thing. He would be so open to it, but it seemed like whatever you two had was now gone and down the drain. You hated him. He was fully convinced of that. There was no way you would ever give him another chance. “I tried.. I even went to her house and tried to talk to her, but she refused to talk to me. I don’t think I can fix things with her, not anymore at least.” he shrugged.
Kakashi let out a sigh. It was perfectly understandable why you didn’t want to converse with the man. What he said was unforgivable, but he knew you better than you knew yourself. You had this shell and Obito was the first person since Itachi to crack through that. You still had something for him and that was most definitely the truth. There was no way you could deny that what you had with Obito wasn’t beautiful. “You need to put your foot down and tell her what you want. Maybe start off with an apology and try to explain yourself. If she doesn’t want anything to do with you afterwards, then so be it, but putting in some effort will make her think.” he explained, trying to hype his friend up. He wanted him to realize that he was right. Effort was the most attractive thing you could give a woman.
Obito heard him loud and clear, but he had to admit that he was nervous about the entire situation. He wasn’t sure what might happen between you both. “I’ll try, but there’s no guarantee I can get her to forgive me or even talk to me again.” he said, looking down at the floor.
He nodded his head. He knew how you were as a person, but Kakashi knew full well that you could hear people out. You were just dealing with a bunch of shit at the moment. “You’ll be fine, but you better do it sooner rather than later. You don’t want her running off with some other guy, right? You want her to forgive you? Then step up and make your move.” he replied, walking towards him to place his hand on his shoulder. “I wish you luck.“
Obito watched Kakashi walk off and head up the stairs towards his bedroom. He knew he had to talk to you soon, but he just wasn’t sure what he wanted to say.
He had to figure it out, for you and him.

Hey! I'm about to start my medical college journey & am a little confused about the books to read in the first year. Could you please help me? I looked thru your blog & it seems like at your uni they follow a pattern and timeline similar to the Indian medical system, so I thought I'd pop by & ask you for some advice :)
PS: Love your blog, really inspirational!! 🩵 I'm a ex-French learner myself & your posts really inspire me to restart.
Hey, first of all, congratulations and welcome to the Fraternity!
As for the books:
Anatomy
General anatomy : get the bdc or vishram singh general anatomy pdf or get the book from library once you are in college and give a read to important topics and go through the terminologies. You can read general anatomy now, before you go to college or during your foundation course classes
Gross anatomy : The preferred book by students is BDC but i read vishram singh. It has very easy to remember diagrams and things are given in points, i suppose you will feel easier to understand and remember. May be, you can go to a store and see both books and decide (goes for all the books, I'll write here about my personal experience only)
Embryology : Get a langman from senior or if it is okay, buy it too. It's an international book but quite good. You don't have to go through everything but the important topics. Vishram singh embryology is also nice. I got to know about it just few days before exam but it was nice. And please don't neglect embryology. Your friends and seniors will say that it doesn't matter, it does. I suppose i could have got distinction in anatomy if only i had read embryo properly since in paper 1, i couldn't write one answer at all. (Like distinction is not everything, it's just kind of an achievement that can boost you?)
Histology : we read IB singh and mostly, our class notes.
Osteology : Again, class notes. But i guess, poddar is being followed here. I had the pdf. So, see if your college has good teacher who teaches you well, take notes of the bones and revise them. Well, vishram singh gross books also have bone sections and its quite nice.
Physiology
Guyton is the best book. If it is possible for you, get that book either from a senior or from a store. Seniors will tell you otherwise most of the time unless you are in AIIMS or the top colleges. Don't listen to them. I regret not studying standard books, they are gem. But you have to start from initial days and again, make notes of important topics. For exam purpose, you can read your notes and Sembulingam. Thats a nice book. You can keep a pdf. We used AK jain too. But in case you are reading Guyton, making notes and using Sembu, you don't need it. And get the AK jain practical book.
Biochemistry
The standard books are Lippincott and Harper. They are review books. Other than that we followed Satyanarayan or Vasudevan. Satyanarayan is better for exams i feel. Since its like a note. You can keep one of them as physical book and other as pdf. Keep whatever pdf you get actually. And as you proceed, you will get to know about more study materials like Jambulkar. That's nice note but use that as a revision tool.
In our college, for practical in biochemistry, we real our practical copies only. So, i have no idea what other colleges follow for practical
Do join telegram channels, you will get whatever pdf you need and important topics. I will suggest you to read every topic but make notes or proper annotation of important topics and of course, revision of them.
That's all i can remember now. Its not like you need to buy all the books right now itself. See those books in library or get the pdfs and go through random topics and whatever you feel nice, you can buy it. And as i said, keep all pdfs. Mbbs is not like preparing for neet. There will be topics easier to understand or easier to present in exam in different book than yours. But you cannot buy all books so pdf works. And do feel free to ask whatever doubt you have!
PS : This means a lot, thank you! And you can definitely restart your language lessons too.

Neteyam's Ikran
All info I could find:
Tumblr media
From the wiki:
Its skin is green in color with yellow and brown stripes, which is very similar in appearance to his mother's late ikran Seze.
Biography:
Neteyam underwent his Iknimaya ritual some time before 2168 and fraternized with his banshee on the first try. As the son of Olo'eyktan and heir to the title, the boy often accompanied his parents on all missions and learned Na'vi traditions from them; many of them watched flights over the mountains. Neteyam flew in his ikran, among others after his brother Lo'ak's failed Iknimaya attempt, when the whole family left on a joint flight.
During a council of war called in the face of a new wave of humans returning to Pandora, the Sully children (Lo'ak, Kiri, Tuktirey, and Spider) slipped away to the nearby ancient battlefield. However, they soon got lost and noticing their absence, Jake asked Neteyam to go look for his siblings from the air. Although Mingxia, who was piloting a Samson, was also called to help. Neteyam eventually found his siblings.
In 2170, Neteyam and Lo'ak were assigned to act as airborne observers with their banshees.
When the Sully family decides to emigrate to escape the RDA, Neteyam, like the rest of the family, rides his banshee and travels to the territory of the Metkayina Clan on its back. Afterwards, his banshee was not shown again for the rest of the film, even after Neteyam's death.
In one of the comics we can briefly see it:

This is the (very poor and ugly and detestable) shot that I took from a youtube video:

This artist (@dusky-doe) is doing a collection of all the Ikrans of the Sully family, Neteyam's is here

rae what is it like being a twin?
i don't really know how to answer this question bc
1 - every twin has a v different experience (like, i know twins whose experience of being a twin is. completely different from mine)
2 - i've never not had a twin, so like. usually when people ask me this my answer is just "idk what's it like not being a twin"
like. i cannot imagine what it's like to not have a twin; honestly to me the idea of growing up without one seems very lonely and sad. obviously my experience is personal to me, but i think a lot of twins can probably relate to this--it's hard to overstate how intrinsic your twin becomes to your identity. like i was a twin before i was a human, yknow? when i was like....a zygote implanting in the uterine lining or whatever i was already a twin, and my literal body and dna and everything developed in conjunction with my twin, and then from the moment we were born we grew around each other and just. fundamentally shaped each other's identities. i think one of the first things i was ever aware of about myself was that i was a twin.
and again this will obviously be different for different people--my twin and i are fraternal, so we look pretty different (although still related), and we also had wildly different personalities as children, so some things about growing up together were great--having a built-in best friend as a child, always having someone to play with, etc. but when you're twins it's pretty impossible to not feel the pressure of comparison, because once people know you're twins their like...first instinct is to try and find the similarities and differences between you. and because my twin and i had lots of very pronounced differences it became difficult as kids not to define our identities around that comparison in terms of who's "more" or "less" (i'm more [adjective] then her, she's more [adjective] than me). i think my sister and i were both compared to each other in ways that sort of gave us complexes once we got a bit older (if you were the "better" twin there was a pressure to maintain that, to always be/do better; if you were the "worse" twin there was intense insecurity about [thing] because you were constantly seeing someone who was better than you), and then we had to spend our adolescence working through the aftermath of always being "the _____ twin" [ <- insert adjective].
fortunately as adults we've mostly managed to work through all that and become people who are comfortable + happy in our own individual identities, although it's impossible to ever entirely break away from each other as a point of reference. but now we're each other's best friend + my twin is the person in the world who i'm closest to, who knows pretty much everything about me while i know pretty much everything about her, and there's really nobody who i'm more comfortable or at home with. and we have been living on separate continents for almost two years but she is FINALLY coming to visit me this (!!!!!!) weekend and i could not be more excited <3

hello hun :> I have a question about fic rec and was thinking if you could help me :> I read "Embers" by xantissa (great work) and was wondering if you could rec something similar if you know something? Tbf jadecest is not my first cup of tea, but I liked how lxc and lwj were put in uncomfortable situation in embers (esp from lxc perspective) and the wangxixian at the end made sense plot wise you know? Have a great week regardless if you could help me or not :* !
Ohhhh! OHHHH! OF COURSE I CAN HELP YOU! Embers was a great fic, so let me rec you some more WangXiXian.
The fic I read directly after Embers was Magnificent, which gave me a lot of the same feelings that Embers gave me and is closest to what you are looking for I think. It starts out with WangXian, and Lan Wangji decides to share his husband with Lan Xichen because Lan Xichen is depressed and in seclusion after canon. It later develops into WangXiXian and Jadecest, but they first have to get over some complicated feelings. It’s very lovely.
Jades’ Lotus by keela_1221 is an Omegaverse WangXiXian fic, with alphas Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen, who are true mates with each other and omega Wei Wuxian. It’s very romantic and they all get married, but content warnings for mpreg and graphic depictions of child birth. If those bother you, I recommend to stop reading after the wedding night 🤭
Then there is Fraternal Fissures by @foreheadkissesforzewu-jun. This one has a stronger focus on Jadecest, as it starts out with Jadecest and later develops to WangXian and WangXiXian, but again we end up with a equal relationship between all characters and lots of feelings the Twin Jades have to navigate.
And if you feel like giving a Jadecest fanfic a try, I highly recommend In This Broken World We Choose by kianspo. They are forced into a soul bond and have lots of shame and guilt to work through!
I hope you like those. Here is a link to all my Polyship Jadecest recs. I’m glad there are stories in which you enjoy the Twin Jades together, even though you say Jadecest isn’t your first choice. If you ever feel like reading more fanfic with them you can check out my Jadecest Resource Collection. I have a bunch of recommendations on this site and maybe some of them are to your taste :)
