Transcript: I don't like the fact that Afterdeath ended up determining how the fandom potrays Reaper Sans. People tend to only give Reaper attention when it's Sanscest related, and water his character down to "horny flirty guy who constantly pushes boundries". Reaper—or, really, Reapertale in general, has so much more to offer! The comic and characters are very well done, and the AU is such an interesting concept. I never see characters other than Sans get attention from the AU, though. Plus, not to mention, Soriel is canon in Reapertale. If the fandom is gonna have it's way and focus soley on shipping Reaper, why was this wonderful (and canon) dynamic shoved into the shadows? It's even a dynamic the fandom usually loves—enemies to lovers, opposites attract!

Don't get me wrong, Afterdeath can be cute. But at this point, I don't think I can say I enjoy the ship, because of how it completely destroyed both Reaper and Geno's characters. Plus, lots of Afterdeath shippers tend to act pretentious, acting as if Afterdeath is canon. Especially im the earlier years of the fandom; if you shipped Reaper with anyone but Geno, you'd get bashed for it.

Reapertale as an AU deserves more attention and recognition, including characters besides just Sans! This also ties into how the fandom's favoritism issue with OG Sans, but that's a discussion for another day.

This is just a personal take so take it with a bucket of salt. Sometimes I do feel like the internet as a whole has forgotten that tight-knitted platonic relationships exist and holds romantic ones in a higher light, and this can sometimes flanderize characters. For example, Afterdeath has been one of the most popular ships in this fandom and still is, but I've noticed that this has begun to blur the two characters together into one, or into the stereotypes of their most common ship dynamic, which is a bit of a shame since they are very interesting characters on their own as well. That isn't to diss on Afterdeath, just think of it as an observation.

Another thing I've noticed and think is kinda neat is that in the majority of Nightmare Gang stories, Cross and Horror have the closest thing to a healthy relationship in that castle. They tolerate each other the more than anyone else at least and are just good chums, good buddies at most. It does kind of make sense considering they're the only two that either haven't killed everyone in their timeline more than once or haven't killed everyone in their timeline at all, and have the overlapping goals of bettering their world through Nightmare. But the thing that I like the most about it is that it's usually platonic. In a fandom where almost any relationship between two or more characters has romantic undertones, (though there's nothing inherently wrong with that, anyone should feel free to do as they like) this is surprisingly refreshing. Just two skeletons having fun. This is more just an insight into patterns that the UTMV fandom tends to fall into than anything else and pretty much everything here is completely subjective. I tend to view relationships from a very objective standpoint and mostly hove no feelings either way about them. If you enjoy shipping characters, you should be free to do so as you wish, doesn't matter if it coincides with canon or not. Just do as you please, platonically or not.

i remember this really sweet n nice artist that shipped Dream x Swap/Blueberry n even had drawn a child for them (I lost the acc so i don't remember who they were,,) and it was so wholesome it had me following the Dreamberry tag

even tho i personally don't like the ship that much because my own thoughts abt how they'd be together aren't as wholesome and nice 😔 (leaning to the toxic interpretation of the Star Sans n stuff)

Ohhhh yeah I see, I actually started liking some ships because of how certain persons depicted it, for example I have never been interested in Bad Sans Poly before but I started to read @ancha-aus 's BSP fics and look at me now, writing my own fic about them lmao (she also got me to like Blue again after years of disliking him because of his early representation in the side of the fandom I was in)

I'm very picky with ships I like tho, it's either rarepare (Driller, Hatemare), ex-rarepaire (Errormare), or unconventional (BSP)

The only popular ships I like are Afterdeath and Horrordust, but the rest ? Errorink ? Can't stand it, Killermare ? Only in BSP, Crossmare ? Only in BSP, Cream ? Can't stand it, Dustberry ? Can't stand it

I might talk about it more but I wouid like to answer why my sona/identity/ etc. is very associated with goth

so first, I can only enjoy my own interpretations of goth(and some of my friends:3), because I love learning new stuff and then trying to put them into his character to make him more better and not feel one dimensional like in canon..

plus my sona is goth because goth has been my special interest ever since I joined the ut community, and my older sonas was always goth ! :3 (I wish I had my old devices to show but they broke💔)

anyway, canon goth..

the reason why I hate *canon* goth is because he's... way too bland, design wise and personality wise.

he has a very simple color palette, which is I can enjoy.. I just like having characters have more colors and depth into them

AND for his personality.. he feels one dimensional, literally his only purpose is to be an afterdeath shipkid and to be shipped with palette

and his personality is kinda hard to describe when you're talking about how he acts in canon

he's a sweet guy who does no harm, he's anxious and gets scared easily but then he likes to make fun of people's misfortune and misery.. and he's supposed to be an asshole??

it feels like nekophy wrote him and then forgot about him and then changed his whole personality and then repeated that until he's so dumbed down to be "just a child"(even though he's a grown ass man)

but there's also a lot of more stuff that I hate about canon goth

goth is like 20 years old and palette was 12 years old when people started ro ship poth together but no one really knew that because both palette and goth looked like little kids.. especially in nekophys art style

and also goth has an adult design but nekophy never uses it, only whenever he's next to adult palette, which is kinda weird because goth has always been an adult

also, his "lore" is kinda stupid, I tried reading his story but its just boring because goth is so one dimensional

I also hate how he's just. an afterdeath kid and the guy who gets shipped with palette, nothing else..

but on the good side, there's no more "canon' goth, only nekophys goth / the original interpretation (the very bad one too ig)

I would like to say that most people don't like canon goth, these are just my own opinions on him, there's a lot more people who might explain this better than me💔

Transcript: I hate afterdeath and errorink. Including their children. Especially paperjam. The kids are so unoriginal.

The reason I dont like errorink is because they dont make sense + I cant see ink in a romantic relationship. (Aroace ink believer (also yes aroace can be in a romantic relationship I am literally aroace in a romantic relationship I just dont think ink is interested in those relationships in my opinion)) While afterdeath doesnt make sense. But the main reason I hate it is because literally every geno fanart I see is afterdeath. I love geno he lowkey my fav and seeing basically everything is ship art is so tiring. At least with error he is popular enough to not only have errorink art. But geno isnt as popular and only known for afterdeath. I just dont get it
