I can tell my car is like on its last legs before it's going to yell at me about the oil change baby girl I love you dearly can you please hold on for like two or three more days thank you so much.
#I did go to get the oil changed like right after Christmas but they said they were busy and they were very mean about it#and when I got my tire changed I was like hey can you get the oil changed while we're doing the tire change#and they were like yeah and then they didn't change the oil and I really couldn't afford it anyways because of the insurance money so#So I have to finish the insurance money today and then I am taking tomorrow the fuck off because I'm going to legitimately lose my mind#and I'm going to work Sunday and then Monday I am going to put my Sunday money into getting the oil change

so many things about selling online are so complicated now and maybe I’m just too overwhelmed to really understand it but either way it boggles my mind and makes me constantly terrified I’m gonna Do Something Wrong so my old storenvy has been perpetually closed for ages. I really don’t know what I’m gonna do with all that old stuff from cons I used to sell at years ago.
like I’d sell it online but I’d have to limit where I am able ship to bc the EU’s new GPSR requirements are an extra layer of things im not even sure how to go about following, as well as the VAT issues that already existed. It would’ve been different if Brexit hadn’t happened but. Well.
it’s sucks tho bc it means I can’t really offer my things to anyone in the EU, or N. Ireland either I think. Storenvy doesn’t actually let you remove regions from the shipping options tho so I would probably have to raise the shipping price to something stratospheric instead.
idk if I’d ever be able to sell at cons again and even then this is all old stock I need to offload and if I sold at cons I really ought to make new stuff. But I have like. Barely any money to pay all the bills and afford food rn it’s getting very close. So there’s no way I can afford ordering a bunch of merch and a table spot and all the other stuff, esp if it might not even sell

#I'm not doing well.#the last two places I worked (in a tourism-adjacent sector) closed. broadly speaking due to post-lockdown financial issues#for the past year at my current job I've been earning less than half what I used to. this was the only offer I got at the time and#I haven't found anything better since. this is not sustainable I'm barely making it each month...#I live with my parents and cancelled my health insurance I don't know how else to reduce my budget. it's depressing tbh#the solution is obviously to find a better job but that's just not happening and I'm beginning to feel discouraged.#I hate being negative it's a very unattractive character trait but I just feel myself slipping and spiraling#I know I should be taking short courses or volunteering to boost my cv but like when ! and how !#I can't afford to work less but I get home at 20h so even evening courses are tricky. I work every other saturday too so weekends are out#and like I do need to rest at some point you can't be depressed and burnt out that's a terrible combo#was looking at a dtp/typesetting short course and 1) I'll need a new computer that can actually run design programs#and 2) the course itself is like 2 month's salaries which I cannot realistically save right now#and yet I'm still ''over-qualified'' for entry level positions because I went to uni. well maybe that's just a polite excuse#because as interesting as my humanities degrees were they didn't equip me with any practical or marketable skills#besides being good at reading and writing. but AI can do that for free now so that's not helpful#I always thought I was reasonably intelligent but I cannot solve this puzzle. there must be a creative solution that I'm missing#but i feel so stuck and trapped#and at least once a week some poor soul stumbles in to the office practically begging for a job so I feel bad for complaining#a little truly is better than nothing#but thank god we elected more pro-business capitalists into government that really is going to be great for us workers (sarcasm)#also I should acknowledge#I am getting some déjà vu. #if you actually wanted to help small businesses then you would support universal healthcare so that small businesses dont have to either#shoulder the cost of providing insurance or not offer insurance at all and therefore have a very high employee turn over rate#if you cared about small businesses you would have a vested interest in reducing rent so that the business could increase their profit#margin and the employees could afford to live and work in the area#etc#i feel like in america at least its almost impossible to start a business and be successful without doing coke or going insane and#exploiting your employees

anyway! one of the jobs I applied and interviewed told me today they’re going w someone else which sucks but like. Ah well, it be like that sometimes.
#it was a bit above entry level anyway so it’s unlikely#plus it was management which Had at least one person under it and. unless that person is a Similar Age I doubt they’d want a 21yr old boss#still disappointing tho; it was in the location I’d prefer and a local library so like. LEAST evil capitalism skillset setting#plus I did two rounds of in depth interviews (including making a 7 page proposal + a program flyer for round 2)#but like again. oh well! not much I can do about it#I have an interview tomorrow w a different company and I’m gonna start around round of applications soon#the place tomorrow is more downtown + bit more ‘cog in the machine’ style but not bad! it’s like a business advisement company#w the position I’m looking at specifically regarding like. employee insurance and Benefits#PLUS it’s hybrid which is rlly nice. biggest downside tbh is that I would likely continue living at my parents place#(bc price of living here is. Bad. it would 1000% be the most affordable. if I moved out I’d likely need 1+ roommates)#but like. idk!! i just Want my own place. to rlly solidify that like yeah no I’m in a New Life Period.
