So I've been reading a lot of Elder Scrolls fanfic recently, and I noticed that it's fairly popular to write crossovers with Dragon Age, specifically to have the author's version of the Last Dragonborn fall into Thedas at the start of Dragon Age: Inquisition and become either the Inquisitor or a companion of theirs.
I've never played Dragon Age (massive CRPGs just aren't my thing), but the idea is a really interesting one. How would Dragon Age characters react to someone who is clearly capable of magic, but has no connection to the Fade because that's just not how magic works on Nirn? How would a Skyrim character react to being thrown into a world that is so superficially similar to their own, yet so fundamentally different, with dragons, elves, and dwarves that bear only the slightest resemblance to what they're used to those words meaning?
Anyway, I had a neat idea for one of these, but since I'm sure I'll never write it I figured I'd post it here. I just think that there's a lot of potential in making the character who gets trapped on Thedas be an ohmes khajiit.
If you don't know, khajiit can be born into one of 16 different "furstocks" depending on the phase of the moons when they are born, ranging all the way from talking house cats (the alfiq) to 10-foot-tall tiger-men (the pahmar-raht), with the ohmes pretty much just looking like elves to the point that many ohmes tattoo more feline features onto their faces in order to make it more obvious that they're khajiit. This means they'd be able to blend in relatively easily since they could just pass themself off as an elf, but would still be a member of a species completely alien to Thedas. Humans are just humans, and even mer could be thought of as basically just weird elves, but there's nothing even similar to the khajiit.
Furthermore, the moons of Nirn are extremely important to every part of khajiiti society from their government to their religion, and this would mean they'd be thrown into a world where those moons just... aren't there. The very sky of Thedas would be alien to them, and a khajiit would be the most affected by that out of all of Nirn's cultures.
On a more metaphysical level, khajiit are innately tied to the Lunar Lattice, which is basically the khajiiti name for the barrier separating Mundus from Oblivion and Aetherius. Azura is worshipped by them as Azurah, a "keeper of all gates and keys, all rims and thresholds," and it's implied that Azurah created the khajiit to help maintain the Lunar Lattice in some way. Seeing as the main plot of DA:I is heavily focused on the Veil between the mortal world and the Fade, you could probably do some very interesting stuff with a character who has an innate connection to a similar metaphysical barrier.
I understand why nobody's done something like this (at least as far as I'm aware), since a lot of people don't even know that the different furstocks exist and ohmes haven't been playable since Arena, but I feel like you could do some really fun stuff with it.

Mars Sector 6, Lord of all He Surveys Talon Abraxas
Mars Sector 6 is from a higher material plane of the planet Mars, as this name, or rather pseudonym, would suggest. He is the Master in charge of Satellite Number 3 which transmits special spiritual energies to Earth during a Spiritual Push, and is so advanced that he is now a Lord of Karma.
He speaks in a commanding and very definite tone through Dr. King, and has given some of the finest spiritual teachings ever given to Earth, probably most notably – The Nine Freedoms, which explains the mysterious secrets of spiritual evolution.

Cosmic Avatars Many of the world’s great spiritual teachers are in fact Cosmic Masters who have come to Earth from other planets. Examples include the Master Jesus, Sri Krishna, the Lord Buddha, Lao Zi, Confucius and Sri Patanjali. These spiritually advanced individuals have given of their otherworldly wisdom in different ways, at different times, in different places to help us to progress in our evolutionary journey back to the Divine Source from which we came.
The words attributed to them in ancient texts such as the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita, the Dao De Jing (also known as the Tao Te Ching), and so on, are a shining light to all humanity – even if these great works, as passed down to us through the centuries, are not necessarily entirely accurate or complete in their current form. We should focus on the ideals such inspirational texts have in common, rather than focusing on petty differences in dogma, as has happened so frequently in our history – often with gruesome consequences which are the very opposite of the philosophies in question.
The word “avatar” comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “descent”, because these great beings have come down to us from their heavenly abodes on other planets. They have chosen, in compassion, to sacrifice their bliss and allow a part of their consciousness to be born as a baby on Earth in a body apparently just like us. They then stay here for an allotted time, during which they help humanity in various ways, including giving spiritual teaching.
While incarnate upon Earth a Cosmic Avatar is under tremendous limitation and has only a fraction of the powers and wisdom which they enjoy on their own planet. One important reason for this is the very poor state of the karma of humankind as a whole. In simple terms we are not ready for, and do not deserve, the direct, open intervention of these great beings in what is termed their “Full Aspect”.

Terribly sorry, but due to your post indicating that you enjoy hearing other people talk about their OCs, which was tagged with Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age, I will now use your askbox to ramble about a stupid crossover fanfiction idea I had that I will almost certainly never write but cannot get out of my head and I just need to talk about somewhere.
Anyway, there's a really common trend in DA/TES crossover fics where the premise is basically just "TES protagonist (almost invariably the Last Dragonborn) ends up in Thedas during the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition and either ends up being the Inquisitor or an additional companion to the Inquisitor." The idea is just one of those, with the TES protagonist in question being an Ohmes Nerevarine.
If you don't know, khajiit can be born into one of 16 different "furstocks" depending on the phase of the moons when they are born, ranging all the way from talking house cats (the alfiq) to 10-foot-tall tiger-men (the pahmar-raht), with the ohmes pretty much just looking like somewhat hairier-than-average elves to the point that many ohmes tattoo more feline features onto their faces in order to make it more obvious that they're khajiit.
As for the Nerevarine part, it's for a few different reasons. Partly because (as mentioned) almost every single one of these fics has the Last Dragonborn and having a different TES protagonist would make it slightly more unique. Partly because a Khajiiti Nerevarine would likely be able to relate to an Elven Inquisitor quite a lot, being hailed as the destined savior of a people who treat most of their respective peoples as subhuman. And finally because the Nerevarine is very closely connected to Azura, with her basically being the Nerevarine's patron goddess.
I don't have a huge number of specific ideas for the plot, but the Nerevarine's presence there would definitely be a scheme by Azura. Azura is ultimately a prideful and egotistical being; not malevolent, but definitely self-centered. In Daggerfall her sphere is vanity and egotism, rather than twilight and prophecy, and those associations are very much still present even in later games. Above all else she desires to be loved and worshiped, so how could she resist a world bereft of gods, free for the taking? I imagine her plan here is two-fold: just like in Morrowind there’s her obvious and wholly altruistic goal (supporting the Nerevarine in his quest to defeat a great evil), and that goal just so happens to further her own ends. She seeks to essentially supplant the Veil; she wants to become known as a benevolent goddess who oversees the barrier between the mortal world and the Fade. Her being there to help the Nerevarine mend the Veil is partly a cover, and the person she’s really interested in is Solas, planning to gain his trust and support by presenting herself as a better alternative to his plan of simply tearing down the Veil. She/Moonshadow (since Princes pretty much are their realm of Oblivion) would serve as a twilight realm, removing the Veil without doing the damage that would result from simply tearing it down. Just like in Morrowind, she’d be a highly morally ambiguous character, never overtly doing anything sinister or malicious, but definitely manipulative and with somewhat unclear end-goals or motivations.
I imagine the Nerevarine would have a very complicated relationship with Azura. Since the Nerevarine is canonically an orphan and she’s “The Mother of All Khajiit,” he might view her as kind of a mother-figure he’s devoted to and desperate to earn the approval of, but feels more and more like he’s being used and manipulated by her (because he is). He will especially feel this way if he knows that he’s on Thedas because of another one of her plans. He probably won’t hate her or anything, and may even have faith that she is acting for the greater good, but will have something of an arc of him becoming less emotionally dependent on her and distancing himself. If he cuts ties entirely, it would probably happen right at the end, and coincide with her finally getting Solas to support her plans.
Tumblr media
I know you said you probably won't write out a full fanfiction, but you definitely have the ground work for one. If you ever do, remember that Thedas canonically has two moons, just like Nirn. 😉
Also,I had no idea that asks could be so long, so you taught me something new. ^.^
Thank you for sharing your ideas. This was really interesting.

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii can I get 6, 11, 19, 22 for riley and 17,22,35,45 for andros 👀
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO TES LAD TIME BRING IT ON
Riley
6. Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
-He frequently dreams that he's young again, back in Hammerfell with Espira and their parents at the water farm, and he's sitting on warm sand playing with magic. His parents' faces are always blurry because he doesn't remember what they looked like, only the sound of their voices. His nightmares are that he's trapped inside a wardrobe, banging and screaming on the doors but no one hears him or notices he's gone, and it slowly starts to fill with sand until he's encompassed in it, and it's scorching and fills his lungs and all his senses, and it sinks beneath miles of sand never to be found and hes trapped alive forever suffocating while the world goes on above him.
11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?
-When he was a kid and the place was overrun by undead and he didn't know wtf was going on. Being thrown into a wardrobe so he couldn't help kill the undead but hearing all the screams and zombie sounds from the inside where it was dark, not knowing where his parents or sister are or if anyone was coming to save him or let him out.
19. What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
-Inability to take things seriously and a tendency to make jokes when uncomfortable with vulnerability, which is all the time. Reverts to childish behavior and pettiness when he feels he's being ignored or shown up. A compulsion to put himself in dangerous situations just to feel adrenaline/ to make himself the center of attention. I wouldn't say it's absolutely destroyed relationships but it's certainly soured more than a few.
22. What does your character like in other people?
-Dangerous people, a good sense of humor and a sense of adventure. A willingness to try stupid things just to see what'll happen. People with thick skin who aren't afraid to give as good as they get in terms of roasting and pranks.
Andros
17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
-He had no shortage of toys growing up, though his favorites were luminescent marbles, toy soldiers and a set of generational dolls showing the lineage of his house. They were made of fine silk and linen with real elven hair and jewels for eyes- he probably misses those the most, and is saddened thinking about how he will never have a doll made of his own likeness added to the set and passed on to his own children :/
22. What does your character like in other people?
-Stoicism, intelligence and keen eyes for detail. Anyone who he feels he can talk to for more than an hour without either getting fed up with them or them fed up with him (mission impossible). People who argue and anyone who isn't a pushover. Yell at him. Do it. Hell be mad as hell but you'll get some approval points.
35. How does your character behave around people they like?
-A bit pathetically puppylike in the sense that he kind of follows them around and tries to copy things they do that he likes. More willing to follow orders and be told how to do things (even simple things like "this is how you wash a dish”) without throwing a fit or refusing. Asks more questions that he'd usually be too prideful to ask or admit that he doesn't know something. Puts up less of a front and is more comfortable being ‘seen’ when he's sure they aren't going to tear into him for doing so.
45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
-He always believed he would go to the halls of Empyrean in Aetherius as Altmeri religion dictates, but due to his less than proper standing in his people's eyes and his werewolfism he's not really sure where he's gonna end up and it freaks him out. When an Altmer of higher standing brings shame to their family they are simply erased in the history books and by society to the point where they are pretty much never spoken of again, and when they die the belief is that instead of passing on to Aetherius they simply cease to exist. Hes not sure what would be more terrifying, being simply wiped out completely as if he never existed in the first place, or spend eternity in the hunting halls of Hircine, but either way he is less than fucking stoked.

UFO Religions | What do you know about it?
UFO Religions | What do you know about it?
UFO religions Summary A UFO religions is any religion in which the existence of extraterrestrial (ET) entities operating unidentified flying objects (UFOs) is an element of belief. Typically, adherents of such religions believe the ETs to be interested in the welfare of humanity which either already is, or eventually will become, part of a pre-existing ET civilization. Others may incorporate ETs…

A non exhaustive list of UFO religious groups
                                             Raëlism
Tumblr media
“Raëlism (also known as Raëlianism or the Raëlian movement) is a UFO religion that was founded in 1974 by Claude Vorilhon (b. 1946), now known as Raël. The Raëlian Movement teaches that life on Earth was scientifically created by a species of extraterrestrials, which they call the Elohim. Members of this species appeared human when having personal contacts with the descendants of the humans that they made. They purposefully misinformed early humanity that they were angels, cherubim, or gods. Raëlians believe that messengers, or prophets, of the Elohim include Buddha, Jesus, and others who informed humans of each era. The founder of Raëlism, members claim, received the final message of the Elohim and that its purpose is to inform the world about Elohim and that if humans become aware and peaceful enough, they wish to be welcomed by them.”
                                   The Nuwaubian Nation
Tumblr media
“The Nuwaubian Nation or Nuwaubian movement was a religious organization founded and led by Dwight York. York began founding Black Muslim groups in New York in 1967. He changed his teachings and the names of his groups many times, incorporating concepts from Judaism, Christianity, and many esoteric beliefs. In the late 1980s, he abandoned the Muslim theology of his movement in favor of Kemetism and UFO religion. In 1991 he took his community to settle in upstate New York; then they moved near the county seat of Eatonton, Georgia, in Putnam County. His followers built an ancient Egypt-themed compound called Tama-Re and changed their name to the "United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors.””
                                      The Universe People
Tumblr media
“ Universe People or Cosmic People of Light Powers (Czech: Vesmírní lidé sil světla) is a Czech and Slovak UFO religion founded in the 1990s and centered on Ivo A. Benda. Their belief system is based upon the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations communicating with Benda and other contactees since October 1997 telepathically and later even by direct personal contact. They are considered to be the most distinctive UFO religion in the Czech Republic.“
                                                                                 Scientology
Tumblr media
“Scientology is a body of religious beliefs and practices created in 1954 by American author L. Ron Hubbard (1911–86). Hubbard initially developed a program of ideas called Dianetics, which was distributed through the Dianetics Foundation. The foundation soon entered bankruptcy and Hubbard lost the rights to his seminal publication Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health in 1952. He then recharacterized the subject as a religion and renamed it Scientology, retaining the terminology, doctrines, the E-meter, and the practice of auditing. Within a year, he regained the rights to Dianetics and retained both subjects under the umbrella of the Church of Scientology.
In the OT levels, Hubbard explains how to reverse the effects of past-life trauma patterns that supposedly extend millions of years into the past. Among these advanced teachings is the story of Xenu (sometimes Xemu), introduced as the tyrant ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy". According to this story, 75 million years ago Xenu brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and detonated hydrogen bombs in the volcanoes. The thetans then clustered together, stuck to the bodies of the living, and continue to do this today. “
                                                                              Heaven’s Gate
Tumblr media
“ Heaven's Gate was an American UFO religious millenarian group based in San Diego, California, founded in the early 1970s and led by Marshall Applewhite (1931–1997) and Bonnie Nettles (1927–1985). On March 26, 1997, police discovered the bodies of 39 members of the group who had committed mass suicide in order to reach what they believed was an extraterrestrial spacecraft following Comet Hale–Bopp.
Heaven's Gate members believed the planet Earth was about to be "recycled" (wiped clean, renewed, refurbished, and rejuvenated), and the only chance to survive was to leave it immediately. While the group was against suicide, they defined "suicide" in their own context to mean "to turn against the Next Level when it is being offered" and believed their "human" bodies were only vessels meant to help them on their journey. In conversation, when referring to a person or a person's body, they routinely used the word "vehicle””
                                  Church of the SubGenius
Tumblr media
“The Church of the SubGenius is a parody religion that satirizes better-known belief systems. It teaches a complex philosophy that focuses on J. R. "Bob" Dobbs, purportedly a salesman from the 1950s, who is revered as a prophet by the Church. SubGenius leaders have developed detailed narratives about Dobbs and his relationship to various gods and conspiracies. Their central deity, Jehovah 1, is accompanied by other gods drawn from ancient mythology and popular fiction. SubGenius literature describes a grand conspiracy that seeks to brainwash the world and oppress Dobbs' followers. In its narratives, the Church presents a blend of cultural references in an elaborate remix of the sources.“
                                                                  Aetherius Society
Tumblr media
“The Aetherius Society is a millenarian, New Age, UFO religion. It was founded by George King in the mid-1950s as the result of what King claimed were contacts with extraterrestrial intelligences, whom he referred to as “Cosmic Masters”. Regarded as firmly based in Theosophy, the Aetherius Society combines UFO claims, yoga, and ideas from various world religions, notably Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. Stefan Isaksson notes that it has “become a complex religious belief system that includes an extraterrestrial hierarchy of various spiritual masters and such concepts as universal karma and religious healing.” The religion's goal is to prevent worldly destruction by improving cooperation between humanity and various alien 'masters',and by using 'spiritual energy' to improve the spiritual calibre of the world “

Another year, another cycle of wonderful Fest items =u=
I think this is one of my favourite sets of Familiars so far, and the Vistas were all fairly pretty too! ^^
But yes, my dumbasses -
Cirrus is a gentle & jovial Wind monk who eagerly attends to visitors who arrive at his tranquil mountaintop temple.
Malaria & Karst are a couple of gruff nomads who wander the Earth/Plague barrens and help folk out with survival tips.
Cinder & Nilas provide arms, support, and shelter to both the newly formed Fire rebels and the Beastclan resistance.
Joules & Benthos scour the sands and seafloor for recyclable wreckage, repairing boats, assorted vehicles and other machinery with what they find.
Mirk, Candela, & Aetherius keep in touch with each other via correspondence letters (most of which is just them arguing over philosophy semantics x-x)
Calyx lives a solitary life on the very edge of the Worldedge Wetlands because one day she decided society just wasn’t fucking worth the effort anymore xD

hi ok i literally JUST saw ur reply bc i forgot tumblr is. weird ab how sideblog replies work BUT do you have any thoughts on specific Ayleid magic that may've gotten lost to time? I know there's a lorebook mentioning that the wells/varla stones/welkynd stones are kinda all that's left and there's an implication that they were privy to other stuff that didn't end up preserved.
Also do you have any hcs ab their interactions with/relationship to Meridia? I mean there's. Kinda already a good deal of canon stuff ab that but theology/religious society hcs slap All The Time
(sorry if im a lil off ab any lore in these q's- i'm rly interested in ayleid stuff but i havent had the time to comb through all of it just yet OTL)
gosh ok so like... the ayleids had this entire deal of preserving the dawn magics- or in perpetuating their use, in contrast to the aldmer who thought to lock these things away before they became something lesser in mundus. there's SOMETHING about cyrodiil imo that made this especially easy for them, and in addition to that their language ayleidoon is derived more closely from ehlnofex (the language of the first mortals or possibly the et'ada) than aldmeris or the other elven languages
@ankhitsu has made me a believer in "ayleids had airships they used to collect starlight" which is based on lore from shadowkey- pre ayleid and the words are never used but yknow. game theory. stars are super important bc that's magic directly from aetherius and something about cyrodiil must have made it the best place to construct these things and collect them as much as that "cyrodiil is the center of the universe" thing is propaganda and kinda :/ from a meta standpoint it IS interesting to think that there's some kind of confluence of dawn era magical construction that just meets in the middle there... like the wiring or tubing so to speak. this environment helped the ayleids preserve and/or rediscover dawn era stuff, which could work potentially reality shifting magics via the use of ehlnofex. recently learning some project tamriel ayleid lore that lays an importance on words and names for people and places and the ability to manipulate them by knowing them and i like that... words and language are so important
as for meridia she DEFINITELY seems like one of the most popular daedra to the ayleids. i think mostly ESO lore cemented it with the addition of like, 3 notable city-states devoted to meridia, but umaril the unfeathered being champion of both her and the ayleids against the alessian revolt implies that they lay a lot of importance on her. maybe due to her connection with the magna-ge, and therefore the purest forms of magic? there's meridia Deep Lore that connects her vaguely with lorkhan, admiring his work and choosing to remain with it instead of fleeing with the rest of her siblings of the magna-ge, and interestingly sews the seeds of her rivalry with molag bal via her working to create mehrunes dagon as a successor to lorkhan and destroyer/liberator of lyg, bal's own little world of creation it's mostly just one guy but molag bal seems like the second most mentioned daedra irt ayleids, and it makes me think the interplay between bal and meridia and their rivalry colored ayleid society in a lot of ways... ofc i feel like throughout the diverse city-states you could find all assortments of daedra and aedra, even brushing shoulders in pantheons and traditions, but meridia and her champions being the last restort daedras certainly imply some interesting things
