as a single issue larys voter i was completely satisfied like we got meddling, plots, being transparently jealous of ur gf's new bf, pitting them against each other, seeing ur gf's lack of care for her new bf as a sign she actually holds no affection for you nor any political power, trying to make a political disability alliance with her son, it failing, trying again with the other one, talking about how his father thought his disability was black magic, new swish outfits, hair gel, AND he went on a gay cruise <3

Thoughts on the Larys x Aegon Scene in 2x06:

"He executes justice for the fatherless child and the widow."—Deuteronomy 10:18

Larys visits Aegon as he lies on his bed, healing from his injuries. Aegon is most eager to cloud his mind with milk of the poppy, just as his father had done. As he is handed the vial with the drug, Larys assumes the authority of a family member entrusted with Aegon's care. He purposely withholds the drug from Aegon, to instruct him. He wants to instill in him the conviction that he only has his mind to depend on now. Aegon's mind should be sacred to him, just as it is for Larys.

"You have already written yourself into legend. You have survived dragonfire." Larys begins to bore through Aegon's mind. He is not a mere mortal man. He is a legend. Despite his trembling and silent cowering at the sight of his brother, Aegon should not feel completely wasted.

"I came screaming into this world." Larys breaks the news of the extent of his injuries to Aegon. The young King's distraught and mutilated state stirs up something inside him, something that Larys has long kept shut. In response, he does something remarkable; something we've never seen Larys do before: he becomes vulnerable.

"My lungs were strong but my foot so twisted that my father named it sorcery." Breathing heavily, Larys reveals that he, too, was shunned by his father since birth. His deformity was something that Lyonel Strong never came to accept just as Viserys never accepted Aegon as his son and heir. Larys' fate is akin to that of his King. Aegon's grunts of pain stop and he fixes his attention on Larys.

"They will stare at you... or turn away." Aegon and Larys cry together, the wounds of both exposed bare. Larys lets Aegon in on his inner trauma of being despised and disposed of because of his disability. Does Larys fear that Aegon might suffer the same fate by his family? Does he empathize with Aegon's pain because he sees himself in him? Does he want to prepare him for or shield him from the cruel world?

"They will underestimate you... and this will be your advantage." Larys' face hardens as he reveals the bitter truth. Aegon musters up whatever courage he has to exclaim "No!" and shake his head in disbelief.

"Help me. Please." Larys warns Aegon that his life is in danger and he begs for his help. Aegon has come to trust Larys with his life. Has he found an ally and a friend in him? He now wants Larys to protect him. He turns to him like a refuge in a storm. He knows he can depend on him. Like a child pleading with his father, Aegon's eyes plead with Larys.

Larys responds with his determined face and trademark smirk. What will he do to protect his King? One thing is certain: Larys is a ruthless executioner of justice. He has killed his own family, whose eyes so wickedly and hatefully stared at him, for all the injustices inflicted on him. He has tortured and killed all those who betrayed his trust. He is bound to be equally merciless with those who dare touch or thus dehumanize Aegon. Larys assumes the role of father and protector for Aegon, ready to execute his own version of justice for what he cares about.

And apart from himself, Larys has shown that the only other soul he cares to avenge is Aegon.

mysaria being rhaenyra's mistress of whisperers, larys being aegon's master of whisperers.

rhaenyra and mysaria bonding over their shared experiences with daemon and the struggles of being women. larys relating to aegon; seeing himself in the young king somewhat now that they resemble each other more.

mysaria becoming rhaenyra's most trusted ally; trusting her over her own firstborn son. aegon thinking he only has larys left to trust after aemond's betrayal.

"Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

Larys does what no one has done for Aegon: he's teaching him. he tells him the harsh truth, which hurts. Otto and Alicent did it too. but the difference is that Larys also demonstrates to Aegon that he is not alone in his path and he will have his support, he is here to help, not harm. He doesn't look at him as useless, even when he's lying in bed unable to move. he sees potential in Aegon - a combination of the ability to listen and the desire to return what is due - which is why he gives him a weapon "your mind is all that remains to you", rather than a finished result.

Larys can manipulate, using his own experience and genuine pain, and sympathize with Aegon's situation at the same time, these are not mutually exclusive things, especially when Aegon showed him his respect by giving him a position on the council ("i should be glad of your talents") and when their fruitful cooperation will bring victory to both of them. Aegon will become Larys' greatest creation if Larys continues to teach him inner restraint and cunning.

I do not say that gladly" i really didn't see this as larys telling aegon he was dumb? it doesn't fit with the manipulation he's weaving. larys is obviously drawing from his own experience where having a clever mind doesn't compensate for his disability to him. how many times did larys resent staying reading books while harwin went out and became a man and learned to fight with a sword? it's a not an equal trade when some of the stuff his foot doesn't allow him to do are very obvious markers of masculinity and socialization in westeros and what very obviously separates him from his class peers. it's a "never forget what you are. the rest of the world will not" speech at its core.

On a positive note, I am unironically shipping Aegon and Larys

Imagine Larys, a boy born disabled, who is abused by society and his family which hardens him. All he cares about is proving people wrong. People are pawns, they see him as deformed, he sees them as dispensable

And then he sees the King. A young man, trying ti get the small folk to like him and being embarrassed by his Hand interrupting every other minute. He watches as the boy submissively listens to his Hand. Larys thinks this will be easy prey; an easy way to become the second most powerful man in the realm

And then something weird happens: When he approaches, Aegon doesn’t take notice of his feet at all. He doesn’t stare at all. He speaks to Larys like an equal

But Larys starts the manipulation all the same, and it works. But on Aegon’s side, Larys finally gives him strength to fight back against one of his abusers, quoting he doesn’t HAVE to have him as Hand. It was manipulation, but Aegon doesn’t realize that. He sees it as someone guiding him away from abuse

Which is why he so readily believes Larys about Alicent and Aemond. This person has helped him before, and now he is again. Larys got whisper that Aegon was going into battle, and immediately went to manipulate him into staying, or else he might lose his chance ti be Hand. And Larys has this staring up at him:

Big, sad, beautiful blue eyes. And again, Aegon believes him with 0 hesitation. He realizes here Aegon is in way over his head: Aegon is weak, vulnerable, and incredibly naive. Not the kind of person who should be playing the game of thrones. He is preyed on, proven by Aegon naming him Master of Whispers, clueless to the manipulation. But why does Larys feel so weird toward this boy? He uses him as a pawn, but he also genuinely doesn’t want to see his life ended. Why?

And then Aegon gets burnt. He is barely alive. His brother is named Regent. Now Larys gets another chance to be Hand. But Aemond rejects him on a brutal level in front of the rest of council. And he does something he never thought he would: He misses Aegon

But surely it’s just because he misses the extra power, right?

But then he goes to see him, intent on manipulating him and he sees the state he’s in, and something inside Larys cracks. He sees this innocent boy who was in over his head pay the price, and became a cripple. The way Larys was born. And Larys feels not only empathy and solidarity, but a genuine sadness for him. And before he can stop himself, he does another thing he never has before: He shares himself at his most bare, safe in the knowledge Aegon won’t judge nor use it against him. And this is how they’re looking at each other

So Larys tries to save Aegon from Aemond, and when it comes to be the most vital, Larys literally saves him, but Aegon didn’t want to be saved at first. He is broken, and he has no one. It’s not a tragedy if he gets killed. And Larys again:

Tells him he isn’t alone. Again, that not is the face of someone only in it for power. He wouldn’t look so despaired at Aegon talking about how he wants to die and has no one if he didn’t care. He wouldn’t share personal details of himself. He is growing fond of Aegon

Them kissing is more natural development for their relationship than Rhaenyra and Mysaria (which came out of nowhere)

larys told aegon they could live well so he wants to prove it. always bringing aegon back pretty dresses and jewelry. they only ever seem to draw attention to or mimic his scaring. larys doesnt let him cover them up. he baths aegon. braids the hair he has left back into pretty braids…

aegon doesnt know whats going on. why hes so emotional, why hes gaining weight, why his tits are sore (why the FUCK are his tits sore). larys doesnt try to dissuade him of any of this (and i dont think aegon would, as larys is his only ally now, but if he did accuse larys of doing… something…) he just starts doing misogyny at aegon. youre being hysterical. gaslighting isnt real babe, you made that up. gives aegon a glass of wine he spiked with milk of the poppy to keep him nice and soft and calm.

maybe larys starts adding excessive amounts of fat to aegons food to help him gain weight for his uh… transition. also to help give him body image issues…

ohhh my god like theres no way they could be in contact with her but aegon finding out larys has been sending and receiving letters from jaehaera secretly…
