Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood - AEDANA

There's a criminal lack of appreciation for The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood on this website so I'm just going periodically gush for a moment about why these witches are so fuckin' cool in whatever order and at whatever pace appeals to me starting with everyone's most hated coven leader. Spoiler-free as possible but consider this the warning.

Aedana's relationship with almost every witch you meet is so fucking strained and she just gives no fucks at all bc she's driven so wholly by inviolate beliefs in the way things need to be and and has found an absolute purpose in using her power to lead the coven in accordance with those beliefs while at the SAME TIME viewing challenges and differing views with a cold, almost darwinian acceptance and emotional detachment because she knows the younger witches *are* the future one way or another. Things will simply happen as they are meant to and she has the will to just Do Her Job how she sees fit. It doesn't matter to her if she turns out to be "wrong" because its simply her responsibility to take the actions she thinks are right. Whether she is despised or even defeated doesn't matter to her. Even if she has or ever did change her views in the wake of huge (and awful) decisions she's made I don't think she would feel a drop of regret. She's almost transcended the concept of regret. It's so odd to read a character who's values and choices I'm so strongly against and yet feel like she is so... enlightened? She leaves me feeling a very strange combination of resentment but also respect. A figure kind of like FFXIV's Emet-Selch, minus all the emotional baggage. It was genuinely difficult to know what to say to her or how to argue with her. It's like she was just a force of nature. As if to debate her was to debate the wind. She simply was.

The dagger has three blades. Dahlia spins and spins it in her hands, checking every edge to see it draws blood, closing each new wound with a flick of a wrist.

“What is it for?” Jasmine asks. It comes off sterner than she intended; she always tries to ask of Dahlia’s daggers with curiosity and an open mind, but just standing near this one fills her with a great unease.

There is nowhere to hide from oppressive, burning light in Dahlia’s domain. Still, she has the ashen countenance of an obsessive hermit who has squirrelled herself into a cave for decades.

“To kill Aedana,” she says.

“Dahlia!”

Dahlia rolls her eyes. “I’m not really going to use it,” she grumbles. “But doesn’t it make you feel better to imagine it? A dagger in all three of her stupid foreheads at the same time?” The third blade opens a slit in her calloused thumb, and the taste of the blood makes the metal glow with rage.

“This is dangerous,” says Jasmine sadly. “The Universe can read your intentions. Even taking a step towards making them a reality could poison it. Poison Aedana!”

“And what are you doing to fix it, then?”

Jasmine is obeying, that’s what she’s doing. She’s taking Fortuna’s exile as a learning opportunity, a reminder that going against Aedana’s will is never worth it. And she’s holding out hope that if she and Dahlia just do as they’re supposed to, a time will come when they can plea for their friend’s freedom again and Aedana will happily listen.

She has tried to argue this strategy with Dahlia before, and it never works. And as it is, neither of them is anywhere near revoking Fortuna’s sentence. They have a millennium left to work on that. More immediately, Jasmine’s concern is that Dahlia has been miserably working at revenge for a month straight.

“I’m going to help you with your Daemon problem, that’s what,” says Jasmine, holding out her hand in peace.

“What Daemon problem?”

She really has been consumed if she hasn’t been keeping an eye on her sands, where Daemons have been sprouting like weeds. “I’ve never seen as many at once as I did flying here just now.” Jasmine pulls a sachet from her bag. “Come on, Dahlia. We’re going hunting together. I’ve even developed some seeds that I think will be a great help!”

“Hunting? With seeds?” Dahlia’s smirk is dull, but it is a smirk nonetheless. The hand holding the dagger slowly lowers to the table. “I mean, I don’t doubt you could pull it off…”

“Come on, Dahlia!” Jasmine says, pocketing the seeds and putting a gentle hand on Dahlia’s shoulder. Together, the two of them will get through this millennium one day at a time. And it’s a new day. “Let’s go!”

Mmmmmm on the one hand, I wanna restart my run of Cosmic WHeel Sisterhood cause I blabbed to Jasmine about something and now she's going straight to Aedana about it which is the last thing I want.

On the other... I made my choice. Now to deal with it. I told myself I was just going to experience this game finally after spending way too long trying to stream this for my partners and my friends and not getting anywhere. So if I've potentially gotten someone killed even after I help them, then that's the choice I have to deal with in this save file.

I still can't understand why Fortuna is so bitter after giving up the coven to Abramar. With two other price choices it's understandable, but here...we just swapped Aedana to Abramar, no biggie. He seems to be an ok leader.

It kind of made us in touch with situation on hand: we can’t say no to paying the price despite how both parties were saddened by that. Oh and relationship with Abramar being strained after that is a nice touch, realistic, even if we promised to him there will be no hatred after that (I choose “found family” trope with him)

I really liked this game! I loved the lore and how they did a different take on werewolves. The storyline was pretty good and the mechanics were fun. I just wish it wasn't so short! I was fully ready, hell; excited, for a 18+ hours game and then it just ended (it was about 9-10 hours). I have so many questions!!! While I was playing, I found out that this game is actually part of a bigger universe (World of Darkness) and there are some other games as well so I'm probably going to try and dig into that (anyone have info or advice?). Anyway......WORD COUNT!!

If i remember correctly, coven was really important part of her life, so no longer being able to participate was hard for her. Fortuna cared deeply about community's future, wishing only the best for it despite some problems it had.

But from player's perspective her connection to coven feels kind of blurry (?) We never saw her interact with it in flashbacks or in "now time" , only with her friends and ghost of Aedana. It's a bit hard to be empathetic with her loosing connection with it.

I guess only people that's been in this kind of situation can understand her pain. (or maybe it's just me having low empathy level so idk)
