Regret
Is it even possible to learn things in life that you couldn't wish you'd learned sooner? Is every revelation forced to come with a mourning for what could have been? If only you had known the things you couldn't have known?
If I understand that I couldn't have known things, why do I still harbor regret? What is the point? What is the function? Why is the human mind able to torture itself with visions of a life that it thinks could have been when it could never have been?
