[To play this, you'll] need an Apple II, Pioneer LD-V2200 or compatible laserdisc player, and the DiscoVision version of Rollercoaster. First appeared in Creative Computing v8n1 (January 1982.). It was later republished in the book Big Computer Games (Creative Computing Press, 1984)

The Revolution Zapper, the Power Pad Pocket, the Power Glove, his notebook... that's all the vital stuff that Brennan had and would absolutely refuse to part with. As for other supplies, a mushy and browning HP Banana for sustenance, a half-empty water bottle, and only thirty US dollars. Considering that the corners of Videoland having different forms of currency, those three ten-dollar bills likely amount to zilch. Brennan considered calling up Mindy and her team of Miis if they were willing to let him in on another Miitopia adventure. He refused, not wanting to seem like he was mooching off of some acquaintances.

"Dang, I really don't have a lot to work with." Brennan muttered.

Closing his backpack, the young man headed into a nearby Warp. Who knows where it will take him?

Infamously given 3% by Zzap64!, The Further Adventures of Alice in Videoland was not released in a complete state. This sequel to the 1984 Audiogenic game on the #Commodore64 is actually still at large as a result, with much more to find!

Captain N: The Game Master was a cartoon from the tail end of the NES era (late 80s/early 90s) about a generic Cool Kid who gets zapped into his NES to Videoland, where various popular NES games coexisted as connected realms. Metroid’s Mother Brain schemes to take over Videoland, so it’s up to Kevin, a knockoff Princess Zelda, and a ragtag group of video game protagonists to save the day.

Now, there’s three things to note about this production. It had the typical DiC Saturday morning cartoon production values, which is to say, none. The game companies that licensed their characters for the show (Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, etc.) were extremely hands-off about the production because they just didn’t give a shit about aggressively controlling their IP like, say, modern Nintendo would be. As a side effect of this, the people making the cartoon had very little to go on as far as reference material - it was pretty much the NES games, their boxart, and mmmaybe a blurb with the names of the characters.

So the end result is... something. Mega Man is a green robot with the voice of a chain-smoker who constantly sticks “mega” in front of words, Simon Belmont is this egotistical old-timey adventurer with a sentient whip, Donkey Kong is giant and there’s an episode where he adopts an amnesiac Simon Belmont who’s convinced he’s a baby, you get the picture.

It’s a bizarre product of its time that would never happen today, but it’s worth a look if you’re into bad cartoons. It ain’t good by any means, but it’s definitely an experience.

Since Levi Stubbs unfortunately passed in 2008, I propose having Ganon be the main villain of the Captain N reboot. Except instead of being a recognizable pig man or Ganondorf, he's a vaguely pig-shaped slime monster based on Calamity Ganon and is voiced by Tim Curry.

this is great under the condition that he carries over a few traits from the DiC zelda cartoon; namely, he always teleports instead of walking because they didn’t want to animate a walk cycle, and he inexplicably has a giant glass fishbowl thing in his lair that all the defeated bad guys are zapped into

other ideas include john de lancie as ridley, with a talking parrot sidekick loosely based on the parrot from startropics because they saw “space pirate” and went from there
