20 Questions for Fic Writers
thanks for the tag @jattendschaton and @miabrown007!! blowing u guys kisses
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
8 💪
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
105,963
3. What fandoms do you write for?
miraculous ladybug<3
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
this question is great bc nearly all of my 8 fics make it in👍
golden (like daylight)
call it even
at our wedding
circles & cycles (right back where you started)
no other shade of blue, but you
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
sometimes!! I try to!!! not as often as i wish i did :( I was pretty consistently replying on call it even for a while but then i fell behind and it got overwhelming😭 there are so many lovely ones I go back and reread all the time though!!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
no other shade of blue but you maybe? not sure if it counts as angsty it's very short and ends with marinette just being sort of sad and wistful. i'm not built for angsty endings<3
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
probably golden (like daylight)! that's definitely the one i'm proudest of at least.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no not really!!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No👍
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
haha not yet but i've had an anastasia inspired fic in the works for soo long. one day i'll dust it off and finish
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
AHAHA YES I co-wrote call it even with my sister @sha-nwa!!! one of the most fun experiences of my life, abby's such an incredible writer and she did marinette so much justice.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
lovesquare (shocking)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
i have tooons of wips in my google docs but i am wary of posting anything on ao3 that’s not a one shot/something i’m sure i’ll finish. one i think might be lost to time is my ladrien greek mythology wip💔
16. What are your writing strengths?
a lot of comments I get are related to prose/description so maybe that? I tend to spend a lot of time trying to pick out the exact right words for each sentence so that it has the sonic/rhythmic quality i'm going for. golden is probably the best example of this; I worked and reworked those sentences for many months until I was satisfied haha. I remember wanting it to feel sort of like the building of a song
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
my writing can be sort of dense and hard to get through sometimes!! I think I have a tendency to try and pack a lot into every sentence, which is fun for me to write, but can be difficult to get through as a reader. it's sort of the polar opposite to how I approach drawing silly comics, where the goal is to deliver the point/joke as clearly and effectively as possible. writing puts me in a much more contemplative headspace, which makes my fic not quite as digestable I think
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I admit i am guilty of peppering in random french words in ml fic whenever I feel like it 💔 I usually use italics though
19. First fandom you wrote for?
dear evan hansen I think? (<-I was a very specific type of annoying in high school)
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
have to give it to my og adrien essay golden (like daylight). it has all my favorite stuff. adrinette. what could loosely be called a plot. the word "something." I said what I needed to say
tagging anyone who wants to!!

Day 6 of Adrinette Month is Modeling! Adrien struggles through his day modeling for his father, while Marinette follows his orders as part of her internship under M. Agreste. Unfortunately, a model goes missing from the shoot, and they need an emergency stand in.
Additional note: Here is the music I listened to while writing this chapter, in case you're into that.
Also on Ao3
On a normal July afternoon, most University students would be enjoying their small amount of free time they had over the summer. Unfortunately for Adrien, his entire summer consisted of working overtime for his father's company, even though they had both agreed that Adrien would not be continuing in the fashion industry after university. He had to admit, though, it was good money. Working overtime during the summer ensured that he wouldn't have to work during the semester and would provide a financial safety net to live off of. He would continue to be a quality model for his father's line until he graduated, and then he would finally retire modeling.
The only plus side was that Adrien's father had taken Marinette under his wing. For the past two years, she had been working as his personal intern. Adrien had his suspicions that she would be named his successor. She had proven herself time and time again to be not only a talented designer, but excellent at time management, organization, and task distribution. She gracefully handled any challenge thrown her way. Watching her work made Adrien fall in love with her even more. Since Marinette was his father's shadow, even during the summer, it meant accompanying him on site to whatever events he attended. Adrien being the company's top model, as well as M. Agreste's son, and this being a major photo shoot for their upcoming fall line, Gabriel was on site attending to any and every issue, with Marinette at his side.
Adrien watched from the corner of his eye as Marinette hand stitched a torn outfit while Gabriel chewed out the poor staffer who had torn it. He winced. That staffer would not be working with their company again. Once Marinette repaired the damaged garment, nearly seamlessly, she quickly retrieved her tablet--the one Nathalie normally carried around--to continue assisting with his father's checks.
Adrien returned his full attention to his own shoot, feeling a bit more energized after watching his love bug at work.
Suddenly, Adrien's shoot came screeching to a halt as his father's voice boomed through the warehouse. Adrien relaxed his posture and ignored the yelling. He glanced in his father's direction to see him shouting into his cellphone. He pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath before continuing in more calm, quieter tone. After hanging up, Adrien watched his father turn to Marinette and pass her a few papers. She nodded frantically and waved him off as he walked away.
Once M. Agreste left the building, the photographer called Adrien's attention back once again.
"There is something missing," The photographer--Raoul-- said, "Where is Collette?"
Adrien shrugged, "I haven't seen her all day."
Raoul spun around dramatically asking if anyone had seen Collette. He was always a very excitable photographer.
Marinette and Nathalie approached the photographer briskly once they caught wind of the issue.
"What seems to be the problem?" Nathalie asked.
"I cannot continue this shoot without a female model…"
Adrien tuned out the photographer's complaints. He was getting bored, and just wanted off of this set so that he could go back to his apartment and cuddle with his girlfriend.
He caught Marinette's eye while Nathalie was distracted and winked at her. As expected, Marinette's cheeks reddened and she stuck her tongue out at him. It really stroked his ego that he was still able to make her blush all these years later. Holding eye contact with her, he grinned and wiggled his eyebrows, earning him a very exaggerated eye roll.
"…just have to use a stand in model." Raoul threw his arm in the air in an exasperated manner.
"We do not have any other models on site with Collette's measurements," Nathalie said, scrolling on her tablet, presumably through the list of the day's models.  "All of the garments were tailored to her body type."
"What about Mademoiselle right here?"
Marinette's head whipped up, and Adrien turned towards Raoul.
"Mlle. Dupain-Cheng is nearly the same size as Collette. A couple inches shorter, but comparable." Nathalie turned her serious gaze to assess Marinette's stature. "Are you comfortable with this?"
Marinette opened and closed her mouth a few times before finally answering, "Yes! Yes, I can do this."
"M. Adrien," Raoul shouted, "We have had a change in plans. You will model with Mlle. Marinette instead."
Adrien instantly perked up. This is not how he expected his day to go.
To say Marinette was nervous would be an understatement.
It was her second year officially interning for M. Agreste, and her fourth shadowing him in the company. She could handle any order he barked out at her, any demand with ease. However, she had not expected to be stepping in front of the camera when she got up that day. She knew they needed to finish Adrien's shoot ASAP, so she had agreed, but she wasn't sure she had known quite what she'd been signing up for.
Adrien stood by while the stylists pulled at her hair and applied her makeup. "You'll do fine, stop worrying," Adrien reassured her. He ran a hand through his hair and crossed his arms over his chest.
His hair was coiffed back, with a few strands falling over his brow. He wore a white button down with the sleeves rolled halfway up his arms, his jacket pulled off to be re-pressed before the shoot. She was furious that he always looked so good.
"I'm just not usually the one in front of the camera," Marinette said.
"Really? Because I seem to recall a few times you've been faced with the press and handled it just purrfectly." Adrien winked at her.
Marinette flushed at his insinuation. "That's a very different situation."
"Mmm, I don't think it was."
Marinette felt her head get tugged back as the stylist started on another braid. "Okay, then, Monsieur Agreste, what do you propose I do to handle this situation purrfectly?"
Adrien's eyes sparkled with mirth. He loved it when she punned.  "You just have to channel that same confidence, My Lady," he used the nickname very deliberately, "You're the same person, so why shouldn't you have that same confidence in front of the camera?"
Marinette took a deep breath. "You're right. I can do this."
Adrien smiled broadly. "I know you can. Don't forget that I'll be with you the whole time. Just focus on me."
Marinette barked a laugh. "You think that's going to make it easier? This is literally your job. I had your photos on my wall when I was fourteen."
"And I love you for that, but I'm also your alley cat."
Marinette pouted, "Alright, I'll focus on doing this, just you and me."
"Great."
"M. Agreste," one of the stylists said, "We should do a touch up before you return to the set."
"Alright," Adrien pushed away from the counter and gave Marinette a wink before following the stylist to the men's dressing room.
Marinette sat back in the chair and closed her eyes to let the stylist apply her eye makeup.
The shoot had several female outfits, which meant they'd be on set for at least another three hours. While normally Adrien would be bored or indifferent towards the ordeal, but the thought of modeling with Marinette was exhilarating. He was on standby on set while she finished getting dressed.
Adrien put his embroidered jacket on once again and watched the techs adjust the lights. He couldn't be happier with the theme of the shoot. "Dreamscape" was the perfect theme for Marinette's first photo shoot. Marinette herself was like a beautiful dream. He couldn't imagine a better setting.
His stylist was applying the final layer of setting powder when Marinette finally emerged. Adrien had seen Marinette dressed up before, but every time he was struck by how stunning she looked.
Today she wore one of his favorite designs from the collection. It was made to compliment Adrien's jacket exactly. It was a simple, classic silhouette with an a-line skirt and a sweetheart neckline. Her sleeves fell off the shoulder. Rather than being one single piece, she wore a crop top and high-waisted skirt in dark blue, featuring silver peonies embroidered into the skirt. She had on a pair of silver six inch strappy heels, and her hair was up with braids leading up to a thick bun. She had a dark blue smokey eye and jet back winged eyeliner on her top lid, and silver liner on her bottom.
Adrien had never seen her lips so glossy and red, like a bright, ripe cherry.
He wanted to kiss her.
Marinette approached the set. Adrien couldn't figure out how to close his mouth.
"Shit."
Marinette's eyes widened at the expletive. "Goodness, Alley Cat, watch your language, we are at work!" The edge from the reprimand was lessened by the laughter in her voice.
Adrien snaked a hand around her back, "can it really be considered work if I'm having so much fun?"
He moved to kiss her on the nose, but the photographer interrupted them before he could make the move.
"Come now, love birds, let's get shooting." Raoul clapped his hands twice to catch their attention, and the two jumped apart. "Save the romance for the camera."
Adrien took Marinette by the hand and guided her to the set. “Just focus on us.”
The photographer positioned them at different levels at first, having Marinette seated below, with Adrien standing above her to the left. They took a few shots from those levels before switching. Adrien knelt below Marinette in a way that felt very LadyNoir. He took her hand in his and kissed her on the back of her knuckles the way he did when they were just kids. He missed the habit, Adrien thought, he might bring it back. Based on the way Marinette's eyes sparkled, he thought she might enjoy the comeback as well.
Adrien found he wanted to touch her more, and prayed for the photographer to direct them to change their position once more.
After what felt like a century of itching to touch His Lady, Adrien got his wish. In order to show off the back of the ensemble, and to evoke the appropriate amount of intimacy for the campaign, Marinette was instructed to turn her back 3/4 to the camera. Adrien placed his hand at the small of Marinette's back and she rested both of her hands on his pectorals. She peered over her shoulder at the camera, but Adrien didn’t take his eyes off of her. As terrified as she said she was of the camera, she seemed to flourish under them.
"Maybe you should transition into modeling. You're a natural," Adrien whispered into her ear.
"After listening to you complain about it for nearly six years? Not likely. I will stick to design, thank you very much."
"But Bugaboo, you could be the next top model of all of France."
"I don't think I'm quite tall enough for that. I appreciate your confidence in me, though."
Marinette gazed into Adrien's eyes, and for a moment they forgot the flashing cameras and hot lights. For a moment, they were just two people, in a dreamscape, in love. They were lost to the rest of the world.
In that moment, Adrien finally took what he wanted. He captured her lips in his. He missed the rapid flash of the camera attempting to immortalize the moment. He was lost in happiness with the most beautiful girl in the world.
Their photo shoot didn't just make it into magazines. The marketing team had fallen in love with Marinette and Adrien's on camera chemistry and used their joint images as the promotional photos for the entire line. Marinette started getting calls from modeling agencies left and right when it came out that she was unrepresented. She turned them all down, of course. She was happy with what she was doing. All in all, the attention didn't really bother her.
That is, until the billboard went up.
There it was, right across the street from Marinette's university. The backsplash of the ad was the now infamous kiss image from the photoshoot. The front overlay was a close up of herself and Adrien post-kiss. Her eyes were still hazy from the kiss, and Adrien's were heated as he stared into the camera, red lipstick smeared across his lips.
The image was sexy, heated, and embarrassing beyond belief.
Despite their propensity to show their affection in public, their relationship had never been the focus of the press. Most of Adrien's fans had no idea that he was in a relationship, which suited Marinette just fine. As Adrien had pointed out, she got enough attention as Ladybug. The release of this ad-campaign, with this billboard in particular, though, unleashed the floodgates. Now the entirety of France, and the world fashion industry knew that Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain-Cheng were dating.
Even with the new bombardment of publicity, though, Marinette and Adrien couldn't bring themselves to mind. Marinette got a bit more attention from her classmates, not 100% positive. Some of Adrien’s fan girls gave her scathing looks. Her professors looked on her with suspicion, and she was occasionally accused of riding coattails to get her internship. They weren’t totally wrong on that last bit. Even Marinette had hesitated taking an official position under M. Agreste. Though she knew he was not a biased man, and that he wouldn’t go easy on her. Besides, prestigious internships were hard and few to come by. If she sincerely wanted to make it in this industry, she had to take what she could get, no matter how they came her way.
Having their relationship out in the open proved to be a relief to Marinette and Adrien. Even with the extra attention, they found comfort in one another. They no longer avoided paparazzi, and they declared their love proudly for all of France to see.

This event is just a fun place for everyone to come together and make content for our two adorable teen heroes. Let your inspiration be your guide. There is no “wrong” way to participate so long as your submissions pertain to Adrinette.
That being said, please keep in mind a few rules:
1. This is a salt-free event. Please keep all of your submissions free of heavy critique of the show/characters. This includes character/ship bashing. 2. Please keep your submissions centered around Adrinette. Each of the sides of the love square will have their own subsequent months this summer. If you must include other sides of the love square, or other ships in your submissions, please be sure that the majority of it pertains to Adrinette.
3. This event is open to people of all ages. NSFW submissions are allowed, but please put them under a read more and tag them appropriately.
4. Have fun!
Failure to adhere to the rules may result in your works not being reblogged for the event.
Please be considerate to the mod team running this event. We often get a lot of submissions and take turns queuing them up so we don’t get overwhelmed. We will adjust the queue according to however many submissions we have that day. Please be patient and give us at least 48 hours before you message us with missing submissions. Sometimes yours is just in the queue. If 48 hours or more has past and we haven’t reblogged your submission, please reach out at that time. Ladynoir July Day 6 - Clown
This story is part 5 of a series: a sequel to my Marinette March, Adrinette April, Marichat May, and Ladrien June stories; I highly recommend reading those first.
You can also read this story on AO3: Hurricane
---
Adrien was tired, but this time sleep didn’t come easily to him when he laid down in the guest room bed. He laid down in the bed but found he couldn’t get comfortable. After he had rolled over for about the tenth time, Trixx let out an exasperated sigh. The kwami had been curled up on Adrien’s pillow, but now flew up into the air so that he could hover over Adrien’s face.
“What’s going on?” Trixx asked simply.
“I don’t know,” Adrien said. “Every time I close my eyes, my head starts spinning about everything that we have to do. And when I think about my parents…” He trailed off, his stomach churning.
Life with Gabriel hadn’t been great, but it hadn’t been too terrible either – or at least, it hadn’t been if you ignored the whole Hawkmoth side of things. What would life be like with Émilie Agreste? At one point, Adrien would’ve said that it was going to be wonderful. He’d have said that life with his mother would be way better than with his father.
But now?
He just didn’t know anymore. It felt like he had been looking at his mother with rose-colored glasses this whole time. Now that those glasses had been pulled off, Adrien didn’t know if he liked what he was seeing. Émilie wasn’t the innocent victim that he’d always assumed she was… she had been that way because she had played around with magic beyond her understanding.
How had he not noticed? He didn’t know if Gabriel had been using the Butterfly miraculous at that time, but Émilie must have been using the Peacock miraculous heavily for her to have suffered its effects – Nathalie had been using the Peacock miraculous sporadically for several months now and she was okay. How could he have missed that?
Just like he had missed out on his father being Hawkmoth for so long…
He squeezed his eyes shut, feeling even sicker than before. Did Émilie approve of what Hawkmoth had done? Surely by now, Nathalie would have filled her in on everything. Adrien was kind of scared to know what the answer to that question would be. Scared that the answer might be yes.
Were his parents the kind of people who didn’t care about anyone else as long as they got what they wanted?
Adrien couldn’t fathom being that way. Being Chat Noir was exhausting but helping out and protecting the people of Paris also brought him so much joy. He couldn’t imagine using the Black Cat miraculous to hurt people – and Hawkmoth was hurting people. Just as he’d said to Tortue and Coccinelle, the psychological damage of what Hawkmoth did didn’t disappear with Ladybug’s magic.
Trixx was still hovering in front of him, watching him quietly. Waiting for Adrien to figure everything out in his own heard. Adrien liked that about him. Plagg could be so impatient, but Trixx was just the opposite. Then again, he supposed that made sense: being mischievous often required a sense of patience.
“I feel like a clown. I feel stupid,” Adrien said finally. “I feel… like an ostrich that stuck its head in the sand for a long time. I didn’t mean to, but I feel like I should have been paying closer attention.”
“You’re just a kid, Adrien,” Trixx said, very gently. “You shouldn’t be blamed for thinking that your parents are decent people.”
“But that’s just it. I’m not a kid anymore. I have a miraculous now, and it’s my responsibility to be paying attention to everything,” Adrien said. He hadn’t felt like a kid for a very long time now.
Trixx sighed. “Still, Plagg lived in that same house with you and he didn’t notice either, right? You don’t blame him.”
“Well, no. Plagg’s primary concern has always been cheese,” Adrien said with a tiny smile. “But also, Plagg didn’t know either of my parents before this happened. He’s only ever known my dad while Hawkmoth was around.”
“There was still potential for him to notice something,” Trixx pointed out. “Your father hid it from you, just like you hid your miraculous from him.”
“I guess that’s true.” Adrien frowned. “Though he did figure it out in the end.”
“We’ll chalk that up to years of experience,” said Trixx. “The point is you were also preoccupied with hiding your own secrets. Besides, would you criticize Ladybug if her father had turned out to be Hawkmoth? Would you say that she should’ve noticed earlier?”
“No, of course not,” Adrien said.
Trixx looked at him triumphantly. “There you go, then. If you wouldn’t blame her, you can’t blame yourself.”

TITLE: tell me you love me, pls ( i beg u )
Fandom: Miraculous Ladybug Ship: The Love Square - Mainly Adrinette and Marichat Rating: T [ AO3 ]
Summary:
Adrien’s patience was hanging by a thread. Wearing thin, rapidly dissipating, dissolving, the way his father claimed teeth dissolved in aerated drinks, take your pick. In that moment, he felt like Tantalus, hungry, the fruit within his reach but just barely . So. Close.
He loved the girl, he really did, and though he did his absolute best to soften her nerves as he looked at her with what he hoped was a hopeful smile, he suspected that he wasn’t able to cut through her panic induced haze. He watched her stutter a little before she let her head fall on her desk with a wince-worthy thump, before she asked for his physics homework going off their (very, very well-rehearsed) script again . All he wanted to do was take her by the shoulders and shake her while screaming,
“ Tell me you love me, I beg you. I can’t stand waiting around this way!”
And then maybe kiss the hell out of her.
Hell, he wanted to kiss the hell out of her right now , but he couldn’t because there was The Bet ™ that he now felt, in hindsight, was stupid. Not that he would ever admit that to Plagg or to his Princess, of course.
Really, he wished she would hurry up with her confession before he combusted on the spot and did something uncharacteristically un- gentlemanly, like drag her off to the nearest empty closet and kiss her senseless. He was sure she wouldn’t mind, what with her accidentally telling Chat Noir her fantasy of being pinned against the wall while being made out with, but still . He couldn’t just do that .
Or could he?
Well, he could.
But he mustn’t.
Suppressing a frustrated groan, he looked over his shoulder at the love of his life as she opened her French Literature notebook with a miserable frown. He really was not looking forward to another torturous practice session that evening. He sighed softly to himself, determined to find out what went wrong this time.
-o-
“... And he was just…. SMILING at me,” groaned Marinette as she shoved her face into her pillow with a groan.
Chat looked at her blankly. “And that is a problem, because …?”
“He looked so cute ,” she wailed. “It’s not fair, my brain shortcircuits. Can you believe my stutter came back !? After almost three years of being friends with him!? I was mortified. ”
Chat couldn’t help the warmth that flooded his cheeks. “You couldn’t ask him out because he was too cute ?”
“Yeah, go ahead, laugh at me,” she pouted petulantly.
He smiled at her softly instead. “No, I think that’s quite… Sweet.”
Marinette scrunched her nose at him. “You weren’t there. It was my Top 10 Embarassing Marinette Moments.”
Chuckling, Chat pat her side to have her make room for him before sliding in next to her in the space she had created.
“So how was your day? How’d it go with your girl?”
My girl. Adrien liked the sound of that.
“I really, really wanted to ask her out today.”
“Did you?” Marinette asked, with a sly gleam to her eyes.
“ No ,” said Chat petulantly. “I’ll have you know that this gentlecat is very patient with the leading ladies of his life.”
“I bet Ladybug would beg to differ,” she replied mischievously.
“ Hey , I was a kitten then with a stupid crush!” Chat replied indignantly with a pout. “I did not know better.” Marinette chuckled quietly, patting his head.
“ Marinette, please ask your boy out so I can ask her out!” whined Chat.
“Careful, Chat,” sang Marinette. “Your impatience is showing.”
Chat groaned. This really was a bad idea. It was bad enough that what he considered a triumphant statement - I will ask out the girl I’m in love with, if you confess your feelings to the boy that you love. He was yet to figure out why that in itself was a good idea, but he just had to let himself be goaded into placing a bet on his patience.
“I don’t think you have the patience to wait that long, kitty ,” she had said back then.
“ Bet?” he had challenged, like an utter fool, because she was right , he did, in fact, not have the patience to wait that long. It’d been two weeks already.
“You don’t understand,” insisted Chat. “She- She sits behind me. I can feel her gaze on me, you know? It makes me want to turn around, lean over her table and kiss her.”
“You think, I have it easy?” Marinette demanded. “I can’t concentrate in class because he sits right in front of me. And my fingers itch to reach out to touch his hair and-”
“You should,” said Chat immediately, before coughing and continuing, “I mean, I wouldn’t mind if the girl behind me did that to me, so.”
“Yeah, that’s because you’re in love with her,” said Marinette rolling her eyes.
“Why do you still think Adrien Agreste is not in love with you!” exclaimed Chat.
Marinette worried her lower lip. “Chat, we’ve known each other for four years now, if he had any interest, he would’ve said something by now, right?”
Chat sighed. “Princess, we’ve been over this. You feel so much, but you haven’t said anything either, right?”
“Yeah, but that’s because he’s been clear on how I’m “just a very good friend”, you know!” Marinette said defensively, making Chat wince.
“Well, um, I friendzoned my classmate too, you know,” said Chat quietly. “I don’t know when I started to fall in love with her but I only realised two years ago and well, I tried everything in my power to get closer to her...”
He avoided tacking on During a road trip over the summer, when I had to watch another guy get really close to you, and I was scared out of my mind that you two would start dating because I know how in love with you Luka was, and I was torn between relief for me and concern for you when it didn’t work out and I still don't know what really happened because that would be one coincidence too many, he supposed.
“I… Did not know that,” said Marinette, clearing the bangs out of his eyes. “Why did you wait so long to ask her out, then?”
Chat gave her a wistful smile. “I was too afraid to ruin my friendship with her. She means the world to me, you know. She doesn't even realize how many times she's made my day brighter just by smiling at me."
He paused, before taking in a deep breath. "And well, about 6 months ago I found out that she used to be in love with me but had tried to give up on me..."
"Oh, Chat, I'm sorry," said Marinette, shifting closer to him. "Are you sure, though? Maybe it's not too late?"
"She, er, told me, actually," he said, not liking the dangerous turn the conversation had taken.
"She told you!? That's... Mean!" pouted Marinette.
"Oh, um, not to, um, civilian me," Chat admitted, a hand going up to rub the back of his neck to ease his nerves. "She told Chat Noir me."
Marinette blinked. "What? Really? Why did she-"
Chat chuckled and put a finger against her lips. "What're you, Alya Césaire? You know I can't answer all that without giving away my secret identity."
"Right," Marinette muttered, looking a little thoughtful.
"Anyways," said Chat loudly. "Apparently, she'd been in love with me since we met. Almost four years ago now. And-
“Wow, and you’d been friendzoning her all this while?” snorted Marinette. “I know exactly how she feels.”
“I’ll bet,” muttered Chat. “Your Adrien is as much an idiot as I am.”
“Hey, enough badmouthing Adrien and my kitty,” said Marinette sternly, wagging her finger in her face. “It’s not the end of the world you know."
Chat perked up. "Yes! I found out a month ago from um, mysterious sources that cannot be disclosed, that she did not succeed in getting over me!"
"And you say you have all the bad luck in the world!" Marinette beamed. Now’s your chance, ask her out.”
Chat scrunched his nose. “I can’t because of your stupid bet.”
Marinette cackled. “It was not my idea”
“Yeah, but you didn’t have to take me up on it, you know I say stupid shit all the time!” whined Chat.
“Sorry, kitty, you’re just so fun to tease.”
“ Marinette-!”
“Okay, okay,” she laughed. “I’ll try to do this, but only for you.”
“ Only for me, sure, sure,” said Chat sarcastically. “Not because you want to be able to get your Adrien by the collar and-”
She smacked him with a pillow. “Will you help me or no !”
Oh boy.
“S-Sure.”
They both sat up in her bed and Marinette schooled her expression into a serious one. “Adrien…”
Chat gulped. “Y-Yeah, Marinette?”
“I know this may seem strange and sudden-”
“It is not strange,” interrupted Chat.
“ Fine, ” huffed Marinette. “Adrien, I know this may seem sudden but there’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time.”
She inhaled deeply.
“I’ve been in love with you since you gave me that umbrella, and I know it’s been a long time since then, and I don’t expect you to return my feelings but I just needed you to know that I love you.”
Chat’s breath hitched. “I-I love you too, Mari.”
“You say that everytime .” Marinette laughed breathily. ”You need to also prepare me for the worst case scenario, you know.”
“No need,” said Chat, his voice cracking a little. “I’m pretty sure he won’t say no to you.”
“You have too much faith in me, Chat,” sighed Marinette, leaning her head against his shoulder.
“You deserve every ounce of it,” he shrugged, hesitating only briefly before putting his arm around her.
“I’ll try to make you proud,” she giggled weakly. “I’ll tell him tomorrow.”
-o-
She didn’t.
Points for trying though, because clearly she’d asked him to come over for a round of UMS III to finally (finally!) tell him, but she didn’t ask just him, much to his chagrin. At least, he was sure she meant to, but Nino had invited himself, determined to beat the both of them at the game, and he wondered if he imagined the sly grin on Alya’s face.
“Sorry, sunshine,” she mouthed with a shrug, as Nino gushed to Marinette about having pastries while playing the game.
Well, subtlety has never been his strong suit.
Adrien wouldn’t deny that Marinette wasn’t cute when she got all nervous and blushy, but there was so much at stake, damn it.
He could still hope though, he supposed. Maybe Nino and Alya would leave early?
They did, which pleased Adrien, as he pretended to ignore the knowing smirks on his friends’ faces as they left.
And at one point, his heart was beating out of his chest when Marinette beckoned him to sit next to him, took his hands apprehensively in hers, said his name and then, he felt her breathing start to quicken.
This is it.
“I know this may seem strange and sudden,” she started, swallowing thickly. “But I… I- I mean , just sudden, not- not strange. Nope,” she laughed nervously.
Oh, Marinette...
He squeezed her hands gently, wondering if she could hear his thumping heart as he tried not to laugh and take her into his arms.
“Anyways, so, um,” continued Marinette. “The sudden… Thing . Um. I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time that um… Umbrella…”
“Umbrella?” prompted Adrien, trying to hold in his squeal of excitement. It is happening.
“Yeah, um, your umbrella,” continued Marinette, worrying her lower lip as she looked at him anxiously.
“My umbrella?” asked Adrien, pretending to be confused.
“The one you, um, lent to me?” said Marinette, “On your first day of school when I was… You know, being a bitch to you but then you were so nice to me even though I didn’t deserve it, and oh my gosh I was so mean , I’m so sorry about that Adrien! I cannot believe I-”
Digression! Digression! He thought, with alarm as Marinette deflated further and further as her ramblings turned a little incoherent.
“-It’s just that Chloe was such a Chloe back then, and I thought-”
“ Marinette !” he cut her off with a chuckle in his voice, tugging at her hands gently. She snapped out of him and blinked at him as if just realising he was here. “You were saying… Something about my umbrella?”
“What?” she asked, before shaking her head. “ Right. Umbrella. Um… I… I still have it.”
“Why?” he asked, quietly, scooting just a little closer to her.
Her eyes widened in panic, as her gaze darted around her room before finally landing on her closet. “Um… Um…. UM……. I- I just…. Wait a second!” And then she was ripping her hands out of his grip and running towards the closet where he knew she kept that umbrella.
This… This was not part of the plan.
Now he was in the dark , because he didn’t know what his Princess was thinking!
In seconds, she was back in front of him, the umbrella thrust out as she pushed it into his hands.
“I, um, just thought it was about time I returned it,” she said, almost hysterically.
Adrien stilled. “Is… Is that what you wanted to tell me? That you kept my umbrella all this time?”
Marinette nodded once, rocking on her feet as Adrien stood up as well. “Really, Marinette?” he asked, leaning in a little closer. She was right there. He could smell the vanilla and toffee off of her! He could, literally , kiss her right now.
To her credit, she didn’t flinch or move back. She did lie though - Of course, Adrien! Three years is a long time to be keeping an umbrella that is not mine, hahahahahah - not recognising Adrien’s attempt at giving her a chance to backtrack and go back to the script , for what it was.
He wondered if he should just go, To Hell With The Bet , and never admit that to Marinette; she’d made that bet with Chat and not Adrien after all. But then again, if all went to plan, Marinette would eventually know Adrien was Chat and then she would know that he lied, and she hated liars but then again, she was lying right now and not telling him she was in love with him and making this hard for everyone involved.
OH, GODS. The moral dilemma of it all.
He locked his fingers with her very loosely.
“Thanks, Mari,” he said, looking down at her as she still stared at him wide-eyed, with her bright baby blues. “For keeping it safe. And in such great condition.”
“N-No problem,” she said breathily, still when he tucked a strand of hair behind her hair. “A-Anything fo-for my good friend.”
Adrien startled at that, blinking at her as she let out a soft groan and deflated completely, and despite the amused hysteria seeping into him, he couldn’t help but hug her as her forehead came to a rest on his chest.
He thought he heard a muffled, “I’m such an idiot.”
He chuckled and hugged her tighter. “Oh, Marinette. You’re so cute.”
-o-
"He called me cute!" pouted Marinette. "How was I supposed to function after that!"
"What a funny coincidence, I called my girl cute today too!" Chat grinned. He didn't even try to tame the smug look in his eyes as Marinette spun in her chair, eyes on the ceiling, a dreamy smile on her face. "And the blush on her face was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. And honestly, if you could just hurry up, I'd like the chance to kiss my girl, please."
Marinette snorted. "Concede the bet, and you can."
"Never,"  he retorted, regretting it immediately.
-o-
Over the next week, Adrien had the honour of witnessing firsthand the numerous ways Marinette could sabotage herself, while simultaneously giving his patience a really good exercise.
(
“Adrien, do- do you want to go on a walk to the park with me,” she’d asked, picnic basket in hand, as she shifted nervously on her feet. “There’s something I want to tell you.”
“Of course, Marinette!” he’d said, gathering all his composure, as he followed her to the park.
“Any special reason for this?” he had asked, hoping that would prompt her into saying something.
Well, it did. But not the thing he wanted to hear. “Um, b-because the weather is so great,” she’d laughed nervously, before fumbling with her phone. “I- I should ask Alya and Nino to join us as well!! It would be rude of me otherwise, they’re our friends, right? Right.”
And he’d flopped onto the grass on his back with a groan to glare at the gReAt WeAtHer’s blue skies as she diverted her attention to invite Alya and Nino.
)
And one of the most emotional metaphorical roller-coaster he’d be on...
(
“ God, Adrien I love you!!!” she squealed as he handed her a roll of that fabric she’d gushed to Chat about.
His heart had seized, and the words ‘I love you, too’ were on the tip of his tongue, when she flailed, very reminiscent of his college days, and hurriedly backtracked, “I- I mean, as a good friend. A great friend who got me something I’ve had my eye on for days!!! Yep.”
In his mind, he’d fallen to the floor dramatically on his knees while apologising for calling Marinette his ‘good friend’.
)
He supposed that was nothing compared to that one night as Chat.
She was frowning at him, kneeling right in front of him as she glared at the tip of his nose.
“I can do this.”
“ Yes , you can. You must, Princess.”
“I will do this, even if it’s so you can ask your girl out.”
“ Yes , you will.”
"We both  deserve love, kitty."
"Yes, we do."
Then, surprising the everloving shit out of him, she took his face in both her hands, each of her hand splayed across his cheeks, thumb softly caressing his cheekbones as she held him. Her blue eyes were burning with seriousness, their faces inches apart. Adrien suspected that in that moment, he had stopped breathing.
“Adrien,” she said, and the thrill of when she said his name like that, made him shiver in her hands. “I love you, so, so much.”
And then, she proceeded to kiss the tip of his nose.
Chat Noir had never been so still in his life, except when posing for photos, he supposed. Though Vincent would have his head for the “stiffness”. Adrien could feel the heat on his cheeks, no doubt being felt by Marinette, who was now looking at him anxiously and god , she really needed to stop biting her lower lip like that.
He tried to say something, he really did. “Guh.”
Marinette withdrew with a groan, her forehead dropping on Chat’s shoulder. “That was too much wasn’t it?”
Just right , if Adrien was being honest. “Guh.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” said Marinette not paying his stupor much mind, sitting up straight again, waving her hand as if dispelling smoke. “I need a new strategy.”
)
It would’ve been so cute if it wasn’t so frustrating.
He also lost count of how many times he had contemplated just taking her face in his hands and seriously telling her how much he loved her before asking her out on a date himself, because his Princess was apparently courageous about everything except for confessing her feelings.
And hopefully kiss her some.
Sigh.
The kissing. Oh, how he wanted to kiss her.
She didn’t make it easy for him, or for herself it would seem.
It was endearing, all the same.
The resolution of his conundrum took about two more weeks of torturous nights of practicing and days of wanting to combust, but they both got there in the end. It was an uphill task, and involved one (1) iconic black umbrella, some roses and a box of macarons, but they did it.
Adrien decided that those weeks of thin patience, and wanting to combust on the spot were all worth it in the end.

I’m captivated by you (like a firework show)
AO3 Link
Summary: It wasn't like Adrien was excited to go out with his friends for his one dream activity in the middle of a lonely summer break, no, not at all. Of course he wasn't upset when his father took back his permission for him to go, what gave you that idea? But being alone in his room during the most antecipated holiday of the summer hadn't been on his plans, he could admit to that. Fortunately for him, he not only had friends, but one very good one.
Notes:  I watched the fireworks scene from Kaguya-sama; Love is War and thought of Adrien. I was going to use this plot bunny for Ladrien month, but it's such an Adrinette one, I couldn't help it (and I already have too many prompst I'm working on for that moth). This is mostly self-indulgent angst/fluff. The title is from Taylor Swift's Sparks Fly (which is a Ladrien song, but the title fit this fic so much).
“Your father denied your request, Adrien.”
He wasn't surprised at Nathalie’s words, exactly, but he couldn’t stop the familiar pit of disappointment from settling in his stomach. Perhaps he had been too hopeful, spending so much time picking up a nice outfit to break out from his routine, trying to style his hair a bit differently (and inevitably giving up when it made him look a touch too much like Chat Noir) and texting Nino nonstop between his breaks from practicing piano. It seemed like everytime he got too excited by something, the universe got ready to cut him down again.
“But he had already said yes.” Adrien responded, his voice soft as to not break. “I told my friends that I would meet them there.”
“He changed his mind.” Nathalie said, like it was that simple. And it was to her, wasn’t it? Just another message she was delivering from his father, like it wasn’t breaking his heart. “There’ll be too many people there and your bodyguard could lose sight of you. It’s too dangerous.”
“But — “ He tried again, but stopped when his eyes met Nathalie’s bemused stare. “I understand, Nathalie. Thank you for telling me.”
As she left silently, he closed his bedroom’s door and dropped down on his bed. It was weird to be so careless about the outfit he cared so much about before, he thought as Plagg came out of his hiding place in his pocket, speaking words that weren’t registering in his mind. He felt like his head was underwater and that he could only faintly make out that there were words being said and touches given on his head, but it was like he wasn’t really feeling it. It was dumb, right? Being upset by something so common. How many times had his father denied him the right to go out with his friends or made him cancel plans last minute because of a sudden whim? It wasn’t any different this time.
Except… it was. When Adrien was younger, he loved to watch the fireworks in the summer. There was one holiday, particularly, that had an impressive firework display that he absolutely adored. He begged his parents to watch it more closely, but his mother had taken him into her arms and explained that it was much too dangerous for a boy as small as him and set up a picnic in the gardens so him, her and his father watched it all. Together. It still ached, a little, that he wouldn’t be able to do it with her this year and that his father certainly wouldn’t join him, but that would all be okay because he had friends to watch it with, for once.
He hadn’t seen them since the beginning of summer break. Whereas all his classmates were incredibly excited about the summer, he couldn’t help but dread it. It just meant numerous beach-themed photoshoots and being unable to meet with his friends everyday. So he watched as they all made plans to go out in groups, pairs, host slumber parties and have picnics that he wasn’t allowed to go to. He missed his friend’s trip to the beach, their party at the Couffaine’s and make-shift Mecha Strike III tourney at the Dupain-Chengs in favor of extra chinese lessons and work. So imagine his surprise when he was allowed, after begging his father during the one dinner they had together in weeks, to go with his friends to a festival in the park near Marinette’s to watch the fireworks with his friends. But of course, it just looked like his father had a “temporary lapse in judgment”.
“Just go, Adrien.” Plagg said, his miraculous wielder finally making out what he was saying. “It’s not like he’ll notice.”
“You know I can’t, Plagg.” He said. “Nathalie will probably think I’ll try to sneak to go, anyways, after she found the room empty some days ago.”
All because of an akuma, of course, but it’s not like he can say that. That must have been one of the reasons he got his permission revoked. Joy.  He grasped his phone and opened the messaging app, already receiving texts from Nino asking him if he was on the way, since he had gone to pick up Alya and they would all be meeting Marinette there. He started at the screen for a moment, willing his fingers to stop trembling. It was alright, it was just an outing, his friends were already used to him cancelling last minute…
#1 ladybugs fans (and marinette the chat noir fangirl)
[6:45 PM]
Adrien: Sorry, guys, I won’t be able to make it.
Nino: dude what
Nino: didn’t ur dad let u come already
Adrien: Yes, but he changed his mind, said it’s too dangerous, so I won’t be going anymore.
Alya: what a bummer, Adrien, i’m sorry.
Nino: want us to break u out?
Adrien: No, I don’t want to upset him, everyone, but thanks for the offer. Hope you enjoy the fireworks.
…. so why wasn’t the lump in his throat going away?
He stayed on his bed, watching his phone screen, willing for something to distract him. But all that appeared the “Marinette is typing…” only for it to disappear and reappear, no new message coming. Marinette did that, she was always a bit careful with her texts. It was a little adorable and never failed to bring warmth to his chest, no matter how upset he was. Adrien only noticed that time actually passed when he noticed the fireworks starting from his window, far away from his house.
[7:15 pm]
Adrien: I wish I was there with you guys.
When he noticed how much the screen was blurring, tears were already spilling down his cheek. He laid the phone screen-down on his chest and sobbed, Plagg curled up against his neck and comforting him more than he could ever know. It was just another disappointment down the line, but it hurt so much more. He spent so much time telling himself that this summer would be worth it if he could at least do this with his friends, just one thing. Why couldn’t he do that? It wasn’t fair at all. He just wanted… He just wanted a lot of things he couldn't get. The phone in his hand lighted up, signaling another text.
[7:25 pm]
Marinette: I wish you were here, too.
He just missed his friends so much. He wanted, just for once...
“Looks like Pigtails wants you to go.” Plagg said, casually reading over his shoulder and with a tone that Adrien couldn't quite place, between nonchalant and smirking. “You should take her up to that.”
“Should I?” And it was a bad idea, Nathalie would probably show up at any moment, but…
“There’s still time.”
“... Plagg, claws out.”
[7:27 pm]
Adrien: I’m on my way.
What could they do anyway? Lock him up in his room? Forbid him from seeing his friends? Nothing that wasn't happening to him already. So let Nathalie come to the empty room, alert his father and have the Gorilla look for him. Let them come embarrass him by forcing him back home from the park. As long as he could get this one moment with his friends, it would be worth it. So he ran through the rooftops, the lights from the fireworks coloring everything around him. He wanted to make it worth it, watch the display with his friends, watch Alya take videos for the 15th blog she created this year, listen to the playlist Nino made for the moment, listen to Marinette talk about her latest design.
He dropped from the rooftops, going in an alley to destransform before running in the direction of the park. His face was blotchy and his eyes were puffy, hair a little messy from lying on the bed and clothes all rumpled. It would have bothered him a few hours ago, but now he couldn’t care less. He ran to the park entrance, it was so close.
I just want to be with my friends and watch the fireworks, just this once…
So it was inevitable that as soon as he got there, it was over.
It was alright. It was fine. Just minutes ago he didn’t expect to see his friends for the night the whole summer, but the festival was still going on. He would still see them and talk to them and eat with them. Who cared if he didn’t see the fireworks? It wasn’t why he was here. At least, not the only reason. If his friends watched the show and liked it, then it was enough for him. Then why was he shaking? It didn’t make sense at all.
“Kid…” Plagg whispered to him from his jacket pocket.
“I just…” Adrien started, voice cracking a little. “I just wanted to watch the fireworks with my friends…”
“Then we’ll see them.” He heard a voice say, before a hand grabbed his wrist and started to drag him away. Adrien tried to resist out of reflex, even though the person was surprisingly strong, before recognizing them.
“Marinette?” He said as he let himself get pulled away from the entrance. “What do you mean? How did you find me?”
“Y-you said that you were on your way.” Marinette said, keeping a fast pace. Her face was incredibly red, but she only tightened her hold on his wrist. “So I-I knew you were probably at the entrance’s park. I mean park’s entrance.”
“What do you mean about watching the show, though? It 's over.”
“A-Adrien…” She said as looked over her shoulder to him. Whatever she saw hardened her gaze, making her look more determined, like a woman on a mission. “Trust me on this, okay?
As she finished speaking, he caught sight of Nino and Alya leaning against a cab.
“Dude!” Nino exclaimed, smiling wide. “Escape from the cage?”
“Something like that.”
“Okay, okay, you two can talk in the car.” Alya said, her teasing scolding given away by her smile. “Everyone get in.”
Adrien didn’t question it, watching Alya get into the passenger's seat. He took the right window seat, while Marinette claimed the middle and Nino sat besides her. He watched as Alya leaned in to the drivers, giving him directions and shortcuts to an address he recognized.
“We are going to the Le Grand Paris? Why?” Adrien asked.
“You know how everyone sets off their fireworks for today at the same time?” Alya asked, tapping away frantically at her phone.
“Yes?”
“Well, Chloe decided that her fireworks display was just going to be the best in town and made her father start it 20 minutes later than usual, so there would be no competition fro which one to watch.” She continued, taking her eyes away from her phone to look at him. “She talked about it for a week straight before summer break.”
“So if it was delayed 20 minutes…” He said, heart beating faster. Did he dare hope?
“It will go till eight.” Nino completed. “We’re going to show you some fireworks, dude.”
“If we get there in time.” Marinette said, looking straight ahead. Her face was already flushed, probably from running so much, and he could feel her warmth from where their arms touched.
“If we get there in time.” Nino repeated, but he was still smiling too wide.
“Y-you guys did it for me?” Adrien said, eyes watering. He was going to be really dehydrated after this night, huh. “I don’t even know what to say…”
“A thank you would be nice.” Nino teased, before bumping shoulders with Marinette. “But you should say especially to this dudette here, she’s the one that came up with the whole plan.”
“Marinette…?” Adrien whispered, watching as her face slowly changed between shades of red.
“I-I just… You were so excited for it.” She said, like it was a confession, barely looking at him. “I li-like the show too, but you were just… static to do it. H-how could could I watch it without you there? When you sa-said you were coming over and it was ending I…”
“She spent the whole show on her phone, texting you and then planning this.” Alya completed, when it seemed like Marinette wasn’t. “ So say ‘thank you, Marinette.’”
But how could he, when words wouldn’t be enough to express what he’s feeling?
“I hope we can make it.” Nino said as the car went through a tunnel, the only thing separating them from a close up on the fireworks show by the Le Grand Paris.
“We will.” Marinette answered, her eyes glinting. She spoke like she wouldn’t accept anything less. “I know we will.”
The whole car was tense as they finally reached the end of the tunnel, looking out of the windows to the right side of the car. As soon as they came out of there, the dark sky lit up with the first colorful firework, followed by dozens of others. Adrien knew they were the main attraction, the reason why they came from so far across the city, why Marinette made this convoluted plan and that it was all for him. He was aware of all that, but he was so, so sorry that he wasn’t looking at them at all. How could he? All he could see was… that face.
She was leaning over him to watch the show, face almost pressed on the glass in childlike wonder. Her hair was loose today, he noted almost absentmindedly, framing her face adorably and being the perfect dark canvas for the lights to play in. Her mouth wasn't smiling, glossy lips slightly opening as she stared at the display in awe, rosy cheeks glowing in the dark. But what captured him were her eyes, the most amazing blue he had ever seen, shining so much it overshadowed the show in front of them.
His heart was beating so loudly, he couldn’t even hear the sound of the fireworks. Could everyone in the car tell? Could they see he couldn’t take his eyes away from Marinette for even a second, that he didn’t want to do it for the rest of his life? Feeling warm around her wasn’t something new, it was expected by this point. But this familiar sensation wasn’t something he could brush aside at the moment like he often did, it wasn’t something he could ignore. It was all-consuming and amazing and— oh. Oh. That made sense. Of course that’s how he felt about Marinette, how could it be anything else?
And for the 20 minutes of the fireworks display, he didn’t take his eyes away from her even once.
“Did you like?” Marinette asked him, after, mouth now smiling and cheeks still rosy.
“No.” Adrien admitted. “I loved it.”

Quaranteen Hearts CH1
I’m early. That never happens, but hey, it’s Adrinette April somewhere! And I started this thing up because I’m a tool who can’t go outside. I hope you’re all doing well during this quarantine, and if not then hopefully this little amount of Adrinette fluff makes it a tad bit more bearable. We will get through this together!
Read on AO3
Chapter 1
“As cases of Covid19 continue to climb across Europe, France has no choice but to close its boarders. Officials are ordering all citizens to stay in their homes for the next 15 days and practice social distancing to prevent the spread of…”
The TV droned on in the background as Adrien stared up at his ceiling. His worst nightmare had come to life, and it wasn’t even because of an akuma. This was real life. There was no magical cure that could fix this. He was stuck in lockdown. Again. And his father refused to budge.
Sure, they had enough food and supplies to last them for 6 months, and Adrien should have had everything he needed to stay entertained for as long. Everything, that is, but the one thing he craved more than anything: human interaction.
There was Nathalie, but she was too busy rearranging his father’s schedule and organizing his school assignments and private lessons to chat. And Gorilla wasn’t exactly the talkative type. He could talk to Plagg around mouthfuls of cheese, but there was only so much you could talk about with an ancient, tiny god of destruction. Especially when all he wanted to talk about was cheese.
He’d already topped his high scores on all of his arcade machines again, and his basketball score board had maxed out 20 layups ago. His online schoolwork had only taken him an hour, and his father dismissed most of the cooking staff, so he couldn’t even order a snack. Earlier, he tried going out in the garden, but his father had alarms on all of the doors in case he tried to go out. It was so unfair!
Just when he finally felt like he was getting a taste of freedom, and everything in his life was looking up, boom. Here comes a global pandemic to push him right back behind closed doors. Back to square one. He’d be lucky if his father ever let him outside again after this. All he wanted to do was see his friends, but this stupid virus meant that even if they could see each other, they’d have to keep their distance. He hated this!
“Look on the bright side,” Plagg said, floating over lazily. “Now you have plenty of time to help me age my cheese.”
“Somehow I don’t think that’s really a bright side, Plagg,” Adrien sighed, lifting and dropping a pillow onto his face. “I just want to see my friends.”
“We could sneak out Chat Noir style,” Plagg offered.
“It’s a global pandemic, Plagg. Going out could expose me to the virus, and I really don’t want to have to explain to my father how I caught it under his lockdown,” he said, voice muffled by the pillow. “I think I should just resign myself to die of boredom and loneliness.”
“Just because you can’t see your friends in person, doesn’t mean you can’t still see them. Why don’t you try calling one of them with that video thing on the computer?” Plagg said before stuffing a wedge of Camembert in his mouth.
Adrien shot up with a gasp, “Plagg, that’s genius! I can just Skype my friends!”
“You’re welcome,” his kwami mumbled before swallowing as Adrien jumped up and slid into his computer chair.
“C’mon, c’mon,” Adrien said, tapping his fingers until Nino answered. “Nino!”
“Yo, what’s good, dude? How is quarantine?” Nino asked with a grin.
“Terrible. I hate it,” Adrien said, leaning against his fist. “I feel like I’m suffocating.”
“But, dude, your room is so epic. There’s a ton of stuff to do,” Nino chuckled, but Adrien leaned back with a groan.
“Yeah, but I do all this stuff every day. It gets old,” he said. “I wanna see people.”
“Sorry, bro. I know you can’t stand being cooped up, but 15 days is gonna be over before ya know it, and you can always call your best bud,” Nino said, flashing two finger guns.
“Thanks. You’re the best. Hey, do you wanna link up and play-”
“Nino!” Chris’s voice sounded and he appeared in the doorway behind Nino. “I wanna play with my Grobotech, but I need someone to be the puny hero that gets destroyed.”
“Can’t you just play both roles?” Nino asked. “I’m talking to Adrien.”
“But I can’t be both because it’s no fun if I destroy myself!” Chris insisted, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Sorry, little dude. Maybe in a little while,” Nino said, patting his head, but Chris turned back toward the hall.
“Moooom! Nino won’t play with me!” He shouted, and Nino turned back to Adrien with a sigh.
“I better go. Sorry, bro. We can chat later after Chris goes to bed,” he said with a wince.
“No worries. Thanks anyway, Nino,” Adrien said, waving before the screen went dark, and he leaned back in his chair. “Maybe Alya will be free.”
He clicked her name along his sidebar and waited while it rang. She answered almost immediately which he took as a good sign until he appeared on screen with her two little sisters climbing over her lap.
“It’s mine!”
“No, it’s mine!”
“Hey, there,” Adrien said cautiously. “Looks like you’ve got your hands full.”
“A little,” Alya said, rolling her eyes. “We’re all going a little stir crazy around here, and Mom doesn’t want them going to the park because they don’t understand what social distancing means.”
“It’s my turn!”
“I guess I’ll let you get back to them,” he said, leaning against his fist in defeat.
“Sorry,” Alya said. “But, hey, if you want someone to talk to, Marinette doesn’t have any siblings, and I bet she’d appreciate a call.”
“Marinette…Yeah, thanks, Alya!” Adrien perked up.
“Bye!” Alya waved.
“You already had a turn!”
Adrien clicked the x and immediately scrolled down to Marinette’s name. Alya was right. Marinette was perfect. The bakery was closed, and Marinette was an only child. No siblings to interrupt. Plus, he always wanted to talk to her. Marinette was just who he needed.
“H-Hello?” Marinette blinked when her face appeared.
“Marinette! Hey, what are you up to? Are you free right now?” Adrien asked but decided he seemed a little too eager, so he toned it back. “I’m bored, so I was hoping to chat with someone.”
“Oh, yeah, I’m just- I’m not doing anything important,” she said, setting her knitting needles aside. “I can totally chat!”
“Awesome! What are you working on?” He asked.
“Well, I finished all of our schoolwork last night-”
“Same.”
“-so this morning I’ve just been knitting everyone’s Christmas gifts. Look, I made Max and Markov matching sweaters,” she said, holding them up then deflating. “It’s good to catch up on everything, but I’m running out of craft projects.”
“Yeah, I beat my high score on Extreme Racer 3 like five times now,” he said, shoulders slumping. “I miss hanging out with everyone. My father is adamant that I don’t leave the house for anything.”
“Not even out in the yard?” Marinette asked.
“He yelled at me for trying to go out into the garden earlier,” Adrien said, pursing his lips. “I swear he’s convinced it’s just floating in the air.”
“Sorry. I know how hard it is for you being locked up, but hey, at least we can still talk,” Marinette offered, and a smile curled on his lips.
“Yeah, and I’m really grateful for that,” he said. “I just wish I could see you in person, but Skype will have to do for now.”
Marinette pursed her lips then perked up and said, “Wait, do you have the new Animal Crossing?”
“Uh, yeah, my father got me the Switch that goes with it too,” he said, rolling over to retrieve it from his bed and holding it up.
“Why don’t we link up? It’s not exactly hanging out in person, but it’s close,” she said with a shrug.
“That’s a great idea! I can show you the tarantula I caught last night,” he said, booting it up.
“Ugh, I never see them coming! I keep getting bit by them,” she groaned. “They’re so scary.”
Adrien smiled up at her as she opened her gate for him, feeling the tension in his shoulders fade. It wasn’t exactly what he wanted, but his walls seemed a little less narrow now, so for that, he was grateful.
“Hey, Marinette?” He said, and she glanced up, eyebrows raising. “Thanks. It’s really hard for me being alone, so this quarantine is my absolute worst nightmare. I really appreciate being able to talk to someone.”
Her face softened in that token Marinette way that told him she understood. “You can call me whenever you want. It’s just me and my parents here, and if you ever need someone, just call, okay? We can ride out this quarantine together.”
“I will. Thank you,” he said, relief flooding over him. “Now, check out my tarantula!”
It wasn’t much, but it was enough. Enough to ease his boredom, and more importantly, enough to make him feel like everything was going to be okay.

WIP Challenge
thanks for the tag @ladyofthenoodle and @miabrown007 ! all of your fics look awesome
So I don’t start fics until I finish the first one, and other than one I don’t have any real WIPs at the moment, but I do have a list of fics I want to write!
1. Untitled Marikim Crack fic PRPR. The class gets together to play truth or dare. When Marinette says truth, someone asks her who her first kiss was. Adrien gets all excited, thinking she’s going to say his name, but is horrified to hear Marinette’s first kiss was with... Kim. Cue shenanigans and jealous Adrien as the love square gets together.
2. Ladynoir Reverser AU When Ladybug gets hit by Reverser’s paper airplane, it reverses her feelings for Chat Noir. When the cure is cast, the feelings don’t go away.
3. Hand Holding Fic inspired by @iwannacookie711‘s The Wall Between Us fic, ladynoir just gets to detransform and hold hands because i say so
4. Miraculous Among Us Ladynoir decides to play among us together. They quickly realize that they should’ve changed their nicknames/color/hat, because it’s just a little bit too familiar. Cue identity reveal.
5. Adrien Babysitting Lukanette’s Kid When Marinette goes into labor with her and Luka’s second child, their regular babysitters are unavailable. Enter Adrien. Except, he’s never been alone with a child and has no idea what he’s doing. There’s lots of screaming.
6. NY Kitty Angst Essentially the ring falls out of Marinette’s purse in New York and by the time she finds it, Adrien has already returned to Paris and she has no idea how to find Chat Noir. She doesn’t hear anything for months until one day the little kitty toy that Chat has the remote to begins to meow.
7. Adrinette Ice Cream Kiss Pure, sweet and simple fluff. Inspired by a comic, Adrien and Marinette go out on an ice cream date. When Marinette asks him if he wants to try some of her ice cream, he kisses her to get a taste.
8. It Will Rain Again In Paris an introspective but hopeful fic where Marinette reflects on her wasted opportunity in the rain to tell Adrien how she feels, and hopes for a second chance once she’s returned to Paris.
9. Take What’s Mine a multinoir au where the ladybug miraculous and miracle box are stolen, and they have to work together to retrieve them. This should (hopefully) be my next big project
10. Balancing Act Sequel A short follow up to my latest long fic, Balancing Act, about the six months in between the identity reveals, told from Adrien’s POV
I have a few more, of course, but those will remain a surprise ;)
I tag @julesthealphawolf @iwannacookie711 @queenofavalon3 @ladybuginetteofficial @noirequin @mininoire and @sae-what

Everything Will Be Fine (Adrinette)
ML Writer’s Challenge - Week 1
Dialogue Prompt: “Well, this is where I live.”
Beta read by @alwayscleverlyme thank you <3
Summary:
So she was desperate and running out of time.
It was a good idea to enlist Chat's help in carrying her husband's surprise anniversary gift back to her house, right?
Pre-Reveal but Married AU (the best kind of au)
AO3
Marinette was not having a good day. She’d barely woken up in time to get to work on time. Missed breakfast. Missed her bus and all because she chose to stay up super late working on a present for Adrien. And even that hadn’t been finished. He was supposed to be coming home today and she had completely mixed up the days and therefore her present wasn’t ready.
“Ugh, Tikki, what am I going to do?” She asked her floating companion as she finally settled into her desk at work. “His flight lands before I’ve finished work and I’ve got nothing at home for him. I haven’t seen him in three weeks, I can’t not have a present for him.”
“You know Marinette, I’m sure Adrien would understand. Can’t you just cook a nice dinner for him?” the kwami suggested.
“I cook for him all the time, this was supposed to be special.”
It had been their 6 month anniversary whilst he’d been away and both of them had promised they’d do something nice once he got back instead. Come on Marinette think, what has Adrien said he wants lately? He was far too quiet about these sorts of things, she wished sometimes he was like her and hinted when he wanted something. He’d already been out and bought her something that had a price tag far too high for her liking if their bank statement was telling the truth.
There was only one way she could think of that would warrant her getting something for him with a similar price tag.
“Marinette, why are you looking at me with that grin on your face?” Tikki asked.
“Don’t worry Tikki, I’ve just thought of the perfect plan, I’m so glad I already asked for this afternoon off work to get Adrien. I’ll just text him to get home on his own and then we’ll have time to get his gift.
It wasn’t always the best plan to use her superhero persona to improve her civilian life but Adrien had really been wanting a new gaming setup in the new house and the guys at the computer store owed her a favour after their manager got akumatized.
The only problem was getting everything back to their house. She couldn’t exactly give her address out to the shop and ask them to deliver it. And she’d really only got an hour tops before Adrien arrived home. Right then, three trips will have to do.
After successfully dropping off the selection of games the store had thrown in she circled back round to grab the rest. It was then that she saw a flash of black joining her on the rooftops of Paris.
“I didn’t know there was an akuma out, Bug,” he grinned at her once he’d matched his pace with hers. She came to a stop on the next roof and grabbed his hand to stop him too.
“Where have you been? It’s been what nearly a month since you last showed to patrol, I know you said you’d be MIA for a while but I didn’t think you meant that long,” Ladybug said, she wasn’t really angry, she’d taken longer breaks before. She just hadn’t expected both her husband and her partner to leave her in one go, and she could have done with at least one of them to talk her stresses through with.
“Sorry.” He at least looked sheepish, once of his hands came up to scratch the back of his neck. “Couldn’t get out of work this time. You’ll have to talk me through that marshmallow themed akuma you battled without me, I’ll bring the hot chocolate to patrol. You bring whatever’s left of him.”
Ladybug shook her head in amusement, “Deal.” She shook his offered hand. She could do with a good catchup over hot chocolate. But that could wait, right now she had to work out a way she could carry a couple of monitors and a gaming chair over the rooftops of Paris on her own. She checked her communicator for the time and groaned, thirty minutes left there was no way she was going to make it. She had to go now. She gestured for him to follow her as she made her way back to the shop.
“Say Chat, you wouldn’t happen to have twenty minutes to spare would you?” This was risky, this was such a risk she couldn’t believe she was asking him.
Chat raised an eyebrow at her as they came to a stop on the roof opposite the shop. “I guess I could swing that much time, but I’ve got to get back to the wife before she realises I’m missing.”
“That’s what we do every other evening, don’t you forget,” she added, rolling her eyes. She still didn’t know how Adrien managed to miss every time she went on patrol. Her head turned to face the shop, “You see those boxes outside the shop over there, I need help carrying them back to my house.”
Chat’s eyes widened in shock. She’d always been the last person to talk about anything in their civilian lives, and she knew it was a risk, and she was going to do it anyway.
“I know, I know, identities are still a thing we need to protect, but Chaton, please I really can’t get them back on my own before my husband returns from his trip. It’ll just be a quick trip there.” She could just trust in him to close his eyes as they carried the boxes. He’d trust her to guide him, she was sure.
“I-you-Ladybug, we can’t, how is that going to work?” he asked her, his hands flailing about in confusion.
“I don’t know, can’t you just close your eyes when we get near, I’ll guide you I promise. Please, please please,” she begged. She was desperate okay.
He frowned at her and then glanced at the boxes and at her again. Sighing, he swung down and landed next to the boxes.
“Is that a yes?” Her eyes lit up as she saw him pick up the biggest one.
He only grinned at her and asked which direction she needed him to go in.
“Yes! You’re amazing, kitty, I owe you one.” She grabbed the other two boxes and began to make her way back across the rooftops towards her house.
They’d somehow managed to guide Chat Noir across the rooftops of Paris and through her front door using only her as guidance and all in under fifteen minutes. This was going up as one of her proudest moments.
“Well, this is where I live … not that you can see it at the moment, let me just uh, tidy up.”
She put down the monitors and raced around the living room to turn down any incriminating photographs of herself or Adrien before returning to his side.
“Okay Chat, you can open your eyes, I’ve hidden everything,” she said. If she was honest, she was quite excited to have Chat Noir in her house without the risk of her identity. Usually, Adrien being home would have completely stopped this plan but she had at least ten minutes before he was due to arrive, if he was on time that was, so she was sure she was safe.
Until Chat opened his eyes.
He blinked a couple of times to adjust to the light. And then he screamed.
“What? What’s wrong? Why are you screaming?” Ladybug asked, her hands coming up to cover his mouth. Her neighbours were going to be wondering why an unknown man was screaming in her house at this rate. His eyes were wide as they stared into hers, she could see him flickering back and forth between her eyes.
He said something that was muffled by her hands so she quickly removed them. “Hi Marinette,” he breathed out. She froze. He must have recognised her house, did she know him? She must, she must have invited him here before, she’d only been here six months. There were only a handful of people that could be and nearly all of them had been in the same room as Chat at one point or another.
“How-how did you…?”
“Don’t hate me, Bugaboo,” he said, his eyes were telling her to trust him, with what? She didn’t know.
A flash of green filled her vision and she quickly closed her eyes. Oh, he wanted her to trust him with that. He was an idiot, now both identities were going to be out in the open.
Hands came up to her shoulders. “Hey, Mari, please, open your eyes.”
She couldn’t, no she shouldn’t. She was already at risk with him knowing hers, he couldn’t risk this just so they were on an even playing field. “Chat, I can’t, what happens if Hawkmoth captures one of us, what then? How do we protect each other then? I can’t trust myself to be able to battle against an akuma who can literally make me reveal your identity.”
One of his hands ran up to hold her cheek. It was a strange feeling to feel his bare skin against hers. “You can, you will, I trust you,” he said, his breath landing on her face. He was so close, too close. “Mari, whatever akuma we face, truth-telling or not, we’ll face it together. It’s you and me against the world. No one else.”
His thumb ran over her lips and she forced herself not to open her eyes in shock. He had a wife, what was he doing? She had a husband, he knew that. Shoot, she had a husband. A husband who was due home any minute now. “What are you doing, Chat? My husband is going to be home any minute. He can’t see us here, you need to leave.”
“Just open your eyes, Marinette, please just trust me,” he whispered. There was something desperate in the way that he said it that she just couldn’t ignore. Slowly, she opened her eyes. His green eyes were the first thing she saw. “Hi sweetheart, my flight landed early.”
Her husband. Her flipping husband was standing in front of her with a grinning black kwami floating behind his head. “Can I scream now too?” she asked. She did so before he could respond. “That felt good. Adrien Agreste, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me, your wife that you were moonlighting as a superhero.”
He grinned at her as she dropped her transformation and ran into his arms. “Are we really going to go there, Marinette Agreste?”
“What I can’t believe is that you two didn’t notice when Tikki and I would sneak into the living room to watch your Netflix,” Plagg interrupted as he floated over to Tikki.
Marinette ignored him as she and Adrien leant back to look at each other. “You have no idea how much I missed you, missed both of you apparently,” she told him. Her eye caught on the gifts that had been the reason Chat Noir had come into her house in the first place. “Sorry, your gift isn’t much of a surprise anymore.”
“M’lady,” he began. Now that is a nickname she had missed since he’s-she’d-they’d gotten married. “You being both my wife and partner is the best gift anyone could have given me.” She couldn’t have put it better herself.
She kissed him then. Soft and delicate, just a press of her lips against his. “Chaton, I’m so glad it’s you.” That kiss turned into two then three and then he was pulling her towards their bedroom and whispering promises of an anniversary gift in return.

Adrinette April Day 6 - Aspik & Marinette
@adrinetteapril
read on ao3!
Adrien stared at the bracelet on his left wrist, feeling a wave of despair crawl through his veins. It had felt like so long since he’d used the Snake Miraculous, but in reality, it hadn’t been long enough.
As Chat Noir, he’d told Ladybug that Adrien wanted to talk to her. Although scary and a little embarrassing, Adrien had asked her, as the new Guardian, to lend him the Snake Miraculous. It hurt to think about all the times he failed to save her.
25,913 times.
He placed a hand on the bracelet, covering it from his view. He moved to take it off, ready to give it back and never think about it again, but he knew he couldn’t do that. The months he spent trying to save the love of his life wouldn’t go away so easily.
Adrien had told Ladybug that he wanted to go out and make new memories with the Miraculous, hopefully to try and counteract all of the nightmares he kept having. He was constantly reliving his failure.
Ladybug had agreed, to his surprise, and handed over the Miraculous to him. He’d sat in his room thinking for too long after that, but remembering the caring look Ladybug had given him, he finally decided to give it a try.
“Sass, scales slither!” he exclaimed, feeling the familiar suit rise to cover him once more. Plagg rose from his position on the bed, looking over his chosen.
“How does it feel?” he asked, and Adrien looked up at him.
“Asphyxiating,” he admitted, feeling slightly short of breath. He knew he needed to get out of his head, but he needed time. He could give himself that much.
He pushed his window open, glancing back at Plagg and seeing him look slightly worried. He would never admit to it of course. But knowing he cared made it a little easier to breathe.
“Stay safe, Plagg,” Adrien said before jumping to the nearest rooftop.
As he ran through the city, he wanted to imagine that he was Chat Noir instead. But again, he knew he needed to face this fear and stop running away from it. He let himself feel terrified, he let himself curl up, he let himself hyperventilate. And when he was done, he reminded himself, over and over, that he would never be put in the exact same situation again.
By the time he felt like he could breathe again, the moon was high in the sky. He glanced around and realized he was near the school, about to turn around and head back home. He didn’t feel better, but he no longer felt horrified at the thought of transforming into that suit. That was a step in the right direction, and even just that step had exhausted him.
As he took one last look at the Paris skyline, he noticed Marinette’s balcony, and there she was standing against the railing. Her body language seemed tense, and she was looking around, as if searching for something.
Adrien was torn; he didn’t want to dump his problems on Marinette, but he wanted to make good memories as Aspik. Marinette was amazing, and Adrien knew that. If anyone could help him start to feel better with the Snake Miraculous, it was her.
He made his tired body move towards her, his feet deftly landing on her railing. He realized right then, as she jumped back in surprise, that she had no idea who he was under the mask. He didn’t have a good excuse ready as to why he was there.
“Sorry,” he got out hoarsely, and she calmed down a little.
“Hello,” she spoke dubiously, staring at him warily.
“I don’t mean to intrude. I know you don’t know me, but you seem worried,” he told her, watching her eyes become concerned.
“Yeah, um, I am,” she nodded, not meeting his eyes. “It’s my friend, Adrien.” He tried not to let himself be surprised, watching her closely.
“Is he okay?” he wondered, stepping down off her railing and onto the balcony.
“I don’t know,” she spoke softly, resting her chin in her hand as she leaned against the railing, turning away from him. She glanced up at the moon. “He hasn’t been himself lately. He hasn’t smiled or laughed, and some days it’s hard for him to say much at all.”
It was true. He’d been so plagued by his memories of his time trying to save Ladybug that it bled into every aspect of his life. He didn’t realize it had become so noticeable.
“Maybe he’s going through something,” Aspik offered, his heart slightly warmed by the fact that she was worried about him. But at the same time, he didn’t want Marinette to worry.
“I wish he didn’t have to be,” she spoke quietly, her voice wavering. “He’s been through so much.”
When he heard her sob, he couldn’t believe it. Did Marinette really care for him that much?
“I’m sorry,” she got out as she tried to wipe her tears. “I don’t mean to dump this on you.”
“It’s okay,” he told her, moving closer. He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, and she finally looked at him. He’d never seen those blue eyes look so sad.
Before he could comprehend it, she was hugging him, someone she barely knew. He was surprised, but if she needed it, she could hug him for as long as she wanted to.
He let himself pat her back a few times, not wanting to seem too familiar. He still couldn’t believe that Marinette cared about him so much. She really was amazing. He didn’t know if he deserved such a wonderful friend.
“Thank you for listening to me,” she spoke as she pulled away, her cheeks slightly red. She turned away again, wiping her tears.
“I didn’t mind,” he said softly, realizing he was smiling. Somehow, he always had a smile around Marinette.
“It was nice to meet you,” she told him, turning to face him once more.
“Aspik,” he said, introducing himself. “I might see you again sometime.” He couldn’t erase the small smile on his face, not while looking at her. A soft blush decorated her cheeks once more, and she glanced at the floor.
“I look forward to it,” she replied, giving him a smile in return.
Adrien didn’t want to leave. Not when she was smiling so sweetly and cared about him more than he thought anyone ever would.
As he jumped from her balcony, he couldn’t deny that he’d made the right choice by going to see Marinette.
And out of all the memories Adrien had, as Aspik and just as himself, being with Marinette that night was now one of his favorites.

poor boy, my gosh. thank you all for reading <3

Adrinette April Day 6 - Aspik and Marinette
Day 6- Aspik and Marinette
Word Count - 1468
A/N- If you squint, Aspik and Marinette are there, I promise.
“Adrien Agreste, here is the Miraculous of the snake, which grants the power of a second chance. You will use it for the greater good. Once we defeat the supervillain, you will return the Miraculous to me,” Ladybug stated to Adrien, holding out a small wooden box with intricate red detailing on the top.
Adrien smiled and held out his hand. “You can count on me Ladybug. I’ll always have your back,” he promised.
That conversation happened less than five minutes ago. Adrien, or rather Aspik, felt like it happened a century ago.
The first attack from Desperada came from the Eiffel Tower. The second and third attacks came from the top of a car. The fourth attack happened as Aspik and Ladybug were running out from between two buildings. After that, the rest were all a blur. The moment Aspik thought he had come up with a new idea, Desperada was two steps ahead of him. It was getting impossible to come up with different ways to defeat Desperada and Aspik was giving up hope. I didn’t help watching Ladybug get captured over and over again without being able to do anything to help her.
Aspik used his second chance and brought himself and Ladybug back into the sewers. “Sass, scales rest.” he said, transforming back to Adrien.
“Adrien, what’s going on?” Ladybug asked, putting her right hand on Adrien’s shoulder.
Adrien looked down at the ground and held back tears. “I’m sorry Ladybug, but I’m not the right person for this job,” he said quietly.
“What are you talki-”
“We’ve tried 25,913 times. I can’t protect you any longer. Desperada is always two steps ahead of us. She’s been two steps ahead of us for months. Three-quarters of Paris have been captured by now. At this rate, it’ll only be us and her left within a few days. I’ve never managed to save anyone but myself,” Adrien interrupted tears falling down his cheeks.
“Adrien, that’s not true. You’ve brought us back to the sewer together every time without fail. I still have my Lucky Charm, the saddle. If we work together, we can come up with a plan to stop her once and for all and save all of Paris,” Ladybug comforted, wiping Adrien’s tears away. “Maybe we should rest for a moment,” she suggested. Adrien nodded in response, so Ladybug took his hand and led him down the sewers until they reached a locker room. Ladybug checked every locker in the locker room to make sure Desperada wasn’t hiding, and found a pad of paper and a pen. She sat down on the bench in the middle of the room with Adrien after she closed the door. “Are you okay, Adrien?” she asked.
“I’m better, Ladybug. I’m sorry for freaking out before,” Adrien apologized.
“It’s ok. I understand. After a particularly hard mission, when I felt as though everything went wrong, I break down sometimes myself. It can be hard being one of Paris’s best defenders. I imagine Cat Noir feels the same way sometimes,” Ladybug admitted, looking away from Adrien.
Adrien gasped and almost said something out loud he shouldn’t have about being Cat Noir. “You have no idea how badly I want to tell you I’m Cat Noir right now.” he thought instead.
Ladybug cleared her throat, “Well, enough about that. Let’s focus on how we can defeat Desperada. What have you tried so far?”
Adrien began to list off all the ways he remembered to try to defeat Desperada as Ladybug wrote them down in the notebook. Methods that worked were circled and what didn’t work was crossed off. Soon, the pair found themselves finalizing a plan that would hopefully overpower the supervillain.
“Okay, so we are going to sneak to Montparnasse Tower and broadcast a message to the rest of Paris to help us out by throwing belongings out onto the streets. Then, we are going to lure her to the Eiffel Tower. Desperada can only fit a certain amount of stuff on her guitar case, so once it’s filled up, we can get her akuma. Once we get to the Eiffel Tower, I’ll trap her with the yo-yo and use the Lucky Charm” Ladybug explained, putting the notebook and the pen into her yo-yo.
“This sounds kind of complicated, don’t you think?” Adrien asked, concerned.
“It is, but this is the last chance we have of defeating Desperada,” Ladybug explained, “Let’s get going.”
******
Getting to Montparnasse Tower and convincing the citizens of Paris to help was the easy part. Now it was time for the hard part - fighting Desperada. Ladybug and Aspik were running through the streets of Paris, dodging the objects Parisians were throwing out their windows and doors. Desperada wasn’t far behind them, having no choice but to use her instruments to defend herself, collecting small pieces of furniture and decor on her guitar case. Ladybug and Aspik made it to the final stretch before the Eiffel Tower- a bridge with nothing on it to defend themselves with. Desperada saw their weakness and ran faster, getting closer to the superheroes with every stride.
“We’ll stand a better chance of getting to the Eiffel Tower if we split up!” Aspik shouted, running towards the right side of the bridge.
“Good idea!” Ladybug shouted back, running to the left. She started to weave between the light poles and benches in an attempt to confuse Desperada, while Aspik ran ahead. The plan failed as Desperada leaped ahead and jumped on top of the bench Ladybug was about to weave around.
“I’ve got you now, Ladybug,” Desperada threatened, lunging towards Ladybug. Ladybug cried out and stumbled backwards, only to find herself trapped between Desperada and a lamp post.
“No!” Aspik cried out, turning around at the sound of Ladybug’s cry. He was at the base of the Eiffel Tower, but he started to run towards his partner and the supervillain and tried to come up with a plan.
“Give me your Miraculous, Ladybug, and this will all be over,” Desperada ordered, holding out her hand.
“Never!” Ladybug shouted, as she pulled out her yo-yo in an attempt to fly away. Desperada whipped out her guitar and hit Ladybug’s yo-yo, causing it to disappear into her guitar case.
“No!” Ladybug wailed. Her Lucky Charm was her only hope of getting out of this situation. Ladybug went to go unbuckle it from her waist, but Desperada had read her mind and hit it with her guitar as well.
Aspik, now a few feet away from Desperada, needed to come up with a distraction, fast. He started to play off-key on his harp. Desperada pulled out her trumpet and shot a blast of energy at it, zapping it into her guitar case.
“Nice try, snake,” she sneered, before turning back to Ladybug. Desperada trapped Ladybug with her body between herself and the lamp post. With her left hand trapping Ladybug, Desperada reached for one of Ladybug’s earrings with her right hand. A glowing purple butterfly mask appeared around Desperada’s eyes.
“Yes! Nice work Desperada!” a male-voice cheered.
“Anything for you, Hawkmoth,” Desperada growled. With that, she grabbed onto Ladybug’s earring and pulled. Despite Ladybug’s pleas to stop, Desperada kept pulling on the earring. Ladybug’s mask and outfit started to shimmer away. Aspik could only watch, frozen in horror. When the first earring was pulled off, Desperada put it in her pocket and moved on to the second earring. By this point, half of Ladybug’s mask and costume had been shimmered away. Aspik thought that he recognized the person underneath the mask, but it wasn’t until the second earring had been pulled off completely that he recognized who it was.
“Marinette,” Aspik gasped softly. After putting Ladybug’s second earring into her pocket, Desperada shrieked in laughter and ran off, probably towards Hawkmoth’s evil lair. Marinette was now slumped against the lamp post, sobbing into her hands. Aspik walked up to her and hugged her.
“I failed, Aspik,” Marinette sobbed, “I failed you, I failed myself, but more importantly, I failed all of Paris. This was supposed to be my second chance and I blew it.” Aspik pulled her closer into his chest and rubbed her back.
“It’s going to be okay, Marinette,” Aspik said after a moment. He adjusted himself so that he could adjust his bracelet and yell, “Second chance.”
Aspik and Ladybug were brought back to the sewers.
“Sass, scales rest,” Aspik yelled, transforming into Adrien. Adrien sighed and handed the miraculous to Ladybug, “We tried 25,914 times and it wasn’t enough. I think this miraculous belongs to someone else.” Adrien turned around and walked away from Ladybug before she could say anything.

Day 6: Aspik and Marinette
Marinette felt a lot of pressure on her as she opened the Miracle box in her room. This Akuma had proven itself to be quite difficult. So difficult in fact that the team needed someone who could analyze and come up with a plan without having the risk of being defeated. The snake miraculous was the obvious and perfect choice, but Marinette knew she couldn’t use Luka. She also knew that it was becoming increasingly more difficult to find other people she trusted. Judging by the difficulty of this Akuma, it would probably be best if she picked someone who had also has the snake Miraculous before.
Adrien at first protested, which Marinette had expected. He did spend months trying to save her the last time he had the miraculous, but she hoped that he would pull through this time around. It took a little bit of convincing, but Adrien eventually agreed and became Aspik.
Marinette cursed herself for becoming so distracted during the battle. Chat Noir failed to show up again when Aspik was with her, leaving her alone with Adrien as she desperately attempted to focus. This led to her wasting her Lucky Charm on a plan that didn’t end up working, something that had never happened before.
“Marinette, what were you thinking?” Tikki scolded as she flew out of her chosen’s bag.
“I know Tikki, I messed up big time,” Marinette began, facepalming as she leaned against the wall of the building she was currently hiding behind. “I guess I was just so distracted by Adrien being there that I couldn’t think of a better plan.”
Tiiki frowned at Marinette as she munched on a cookie. “Are you sure picking Adrien again was the best idea?”
“I feel like it was my only option,” Marinette replied. “Besides, he is doing really well this time. I’m the problem here, not him.”
Marinette continued to watch her Kwami eat. Right before Tikki could finish her snack however, she quickly hid back into    the bag, causing Marinette to look up.
“Adr-I mean, Aspik?” Marinette asked, looking up at him.
“Marinette,” Aspik said. “What are you doing here?”
“Uh, well, you know, I’m hiding! From the akuma!”
Aspik nodded. He looked so serious as a hero, a trait that Marinette noticed was so far off from Chat Noir. That wasn’t too surprising though, for Adrien and Chat Noir were like light and day.
“Mind if I take you home? To be safer?”
Marinette happily nodded. Adrien was always such a gentleman, wasn’t he?
Aspik then proceeded to gently scoop her into his arms, holding her close to his chest. Marinette couldn’t help but blush; her crush was carrying her!
“Ready?”
Marinette quietly nodded, still blushing. Adrien was carrying her. Adrien was carrying her!
Aspik started moving towards the Dupain-Cheng bakery as Marinette stared up at him. It was nice to be able to get a better look at Aspik’s face since she wasn’t busy fighting alongside him. It was a bit disappointing to not be able to see his gorgeous locks, but the mask made his green eyes look way more intense than usual. How could Adrien manage to get even more attractive?
“Marinette?”
Marinette blinked. “Yes?”
“You’re home.”
“Oh.”
Marinette stepped down onto her balcony before turning around and smiling at Aspik. “Thank you for taking me home,” she said.
“No problem,” Aspik replied. Marinette internally swooned as he walked a little closer to her and smiled. “Stay safe for me, okay?” he continued before lifting her hand and placing a light kiss onto it.
Marinette was unable to get a single word out before Aspik gave her a small salute and left. Did he really just do that?
“Marinette!” She heard Tikki shout.
“Can you believe it, Tikki? Adrien kissed my hand!”
“The akuma?”
“Oh, right, haha.”
Marinette transformed with the hope that she would be able to get the recent event out of her head. It turned out that taking a little break from fighting ended making her way more distracted than she was before.

Remembrance 7
AO3 link Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 Summary: Alya interviews Luka, Rose and Juleka and Adrien is crazy about Marinette. A/N: hahahahaha it’s been 7 months since i updated this.
It was truly summer. The sun sitting high on sky, the heat making the skin sweaty and sticky. People in every direction having something cold in their hand, like an ice cream or milkshake. Adrien couldn’t wait for later in the day when it would be him holding an ice cream and sharing it with his new girlfriend. It only took their second date to make it official and Adrien couldn’t be happier about it. Being with Marinette was like an amazing dream. And he never wanted to wake up.
“Almost there now” Nino said from where he was walking beside him and Adrien smiled at the words. Almost by Marinette. “Do you think it’ll be awkward?”.
At those words though, Adrien frowned.
“What do you mean?” he asked, confused.
“You know, dude. Being around Luka. And Marinette. At the same time.” as Nino said it, he gave him a pointed look.
With explanation, Adrien of course knew what he was talking about. Except it was such a non-issue that he almost had to laugh.
“It’s not gonna be awkward” he said, and couldn’t help the few giggle that escaped his mouth. “They were only together for a few months and it was years ago. Besides, Luka and I are friends. We wouldn’t let something like this make it awkward”
Adrien felt confident in the truth of his words. The relationship between Marinette and Luka was so long ago and so short-lived that it seemed like everyone basically forgot it happened. To be fair, he didn’t exactly know how Luka felt about the fact that ‘Adrinette’ (as Alya had dubbed it) was a thing now, but he doubted it bothered him much. They had talked a few times since the first date with Marinette and Luka hadn’t seemed anything but happy for them.
“Still, you’re dating his ex” Nino said, his eyebrow furrowed.
Once again, all Adrien could do was laugh. They were only a few meters away from the Couffine’s houseboat now and had already been spotted by the people on it. He saw his girlfriend wave to him which he returned with a giant smile.
“By that logic” Adrien said to Nino. “Marinette and Kagami shouldn’t be able to hang out. Do you wanna tell them that?”
He didn’t want to do that, if the way his eyes widened was any indication. Adrien just grinned and boarded the boat. He immediately made a beeline for Marinette, who was sitting off to the side from the others, behind a camera.
Four chairs had been set up at the center of the deck. Juleka, Rose and Luka occupied three of them, while Alya sat in the last one across from the rest, with a camera set up next to her. Rose was in the middle of recounting some story of one of the times she had met Ladybug and Chat Noir. She was talking about how determined Ladybug had been to make sure everyone was safe, and that she had complimented Rose’s outfit. Adrien couldn’t help but smile. That sounded like Ladybug.
Next to him, Marinette put a hand on her head and groaned quietly. When he looked at her, he could see that her eyes were closed and her forehead was creased. He quickly took her hand and squeezed it. She looked up at him with slightly glassy eyes.
“You okay?” he asked quietly, to not disturb the recording.
Marinette smiled back, although it seemed a little strained. “I’m fine. I’ve just got a headache. I think I might be a bit dehydrated” she said, just as quietly, and leaned her head against Adrien’s shoulder.
He chuckled a little at that answer. “It’s important to drink a lot of water in this heat.”
“I know” Marinette groaned. “I just got so wrapped up in this project that I forgot I had to live. Alya had to force me to leave my room today. I was almost finished, too!” she said with pout. Adrien chuckled again and kissed the crown of her head. She was just so cute.
As he felt Marinette relax a little more and lean a littler heavier on him, he turned his attention back to the interview happening in front of him. Nino had placed himself right behind the camera, and seemed like he really wanted to make adjustments to how it was placed, but every time he tried to Alya subtly swatted his hand away. After a few moments of this he ended up sitting down beside Adrien instead, pouting even more than Marinette had.
“And what about Chat Noir? What was he doing during all of this?”
Adrien immediately paid more attention when he heard his alter ego’s name. No one could blame him for wanting to know what people thought of him, right? People’s opinions on Chat Noir were kind of interesting. While most people agreed that Ladybug had been a valuable and competent hero, what they thought about Chat Noir was really varied. Some people found him useless and immature, others said he was skilled and funny. They either loved him or hated him. Adrien had found a lot of arguments about it online. He probably shouldn’t read them since they usually made him either really angry or really sad, but it was hard to stop once he had started. He could only hope that his friends had good opinions of him.
“Oh! He was so wonderful!” Rose said and a huge smile appeared on Adrien’s lips. “He was playing with the kids, and joking with all of us. He just made all of us feel better, I wasn’t scared at all when he was talking to us!”
Juleka nodded at that. “Yeah. Once when I was freaking out during an akuma attack he stopped and talked to me for a minute and made me calm down” she smiled a little. “He was really awesome”
Adrien’s heart warmed at their words. When he was talking to civilians during akuma attacks, all he wanted was to make them feel a little better and a little safer. He was happy to know it had worked.
The interview was over just a few minutes later, and everyone stood up. Nino immediately made his way over to Alya and started making comments about camera angles and lighting. While the two of them bickered in the background, Juleka, Luka and Rose came over to Adrien and Marinette. Rose squealed as soon as she reached them, and grabbed Juleka’s arm.
“You’re so cute together! Aren’t they just adorable, Jules?”
Juleka smiled. “Yeah. It’s about time, too”
Adrien blushed and rubbed his neck awkwardly at the attention, while Marinette didn’t seem bothered at all. She just groaned loudly and flopped against his side dramatically.
“I know, right?” she said with a slight nudge in his side. “I put so much time into getting him to notice me, I deserve to reap the benefits now.”
Adrien chuckled, having heard a few stories about Marinette’s attempts to ask him out when they were teenagers. Based of off Rose and Juleka’s expressions though, he could guess there were a lot more attempts than the ones he had been told.
“You two really are awesome together.” Luka broke up the grimacing by saying, with that ever-present, easy-going smile. “You create such a harmonious melody. I would play it, but Alya said I wasn’t allowed to have my guitar anywhere near during the interview.”
This roused a few giggled around the group. Luka’s constant guitar playing was a well-known, inside joke in their friend group at this point. Adrien could still remember him playing even in the middle of akuma attacks. Which, of course, made the snake miraculous with its lyre for a weapon perfect for him.
What was even more perfect, was that Luka wanted to play a melody representing Adrien and Marinette, which meant that he was totally okay with them together, which meant Nino was wrong.
“I guess you’ll just have to play it for us another time” Adrien said once the laughter died down.
“Absolutely” Luka smiled back.
Take that, Nino.
“That’d be awesome, Luka” Marinette said while standing up. “Right now, though, I believe I was promised ice cream” she turned to look at Adrien and pulled his hand.
He stood up after her and put an arm around her shoulders. They hadn’t been together for very long, but the way they fit together already felt so natural. It was probably because of the fact that they had known each other for so long. At this point, Adrien truly felt like it was meant to be. Especially, when she smiled at him the way she was doing right now.
“Of course, princess!” he said enthusiastically and her smile only shined brighter because of it.
They quickly said goodbye to their friends and started their walk towards André’s ice cream cart. Marinette was talking animatedly about her latest projects, mostly about the design for Audrey Bourgeois. She kept going on about how she felt like she was so close to the perfect design, but just couldn’t quite get there and how frustrating that was. All Adrien could do as he listened to her, was smile. He loved hearing her talk. He loved how passionate she got, how her eyes sparkled and how she did so much problem-solving on the spot, just by talking about it. She was so clever and creative. He just loved… her.
They might have only been together for a couple of weeks, but she was sure. He loved her. He probably had for a long time before he realized himself. He had just been too hung up on Ladybug when they were younger to understand that what he felt for Marinette, was love. And he really wanted to tell her. He wanted to tell everyone. If he could, he would gladly broadcast across the entire world that he was in love with Marinette Dupain-Cheng!
But he was scared. Adrien had never been one to shy away from proclamations of love before, Ladybug could attest to that. This however, was so different from the whole Ladybug, and even Kagami thing. This was so much more real. There were no barriers between him and Marinette. No secret identities or controlling parents. It was just them. And it was wonderful. Adrien didn’t want to lose that by going all in if Marinette wasn’t ready for it. Which is why he had resolved to following her lead. He didn’t mind it. He would gladly follow her anywhere.

OSRR: 2169
so after going to bed, i didn't fall asleep until after 5, probably around 5:15, and then i was woken up at 6:45 my a terrible pain in my stomach, which, upon becoming fully conscious, i recognized as a gas bubble. normally, i rock back and forth to get rid of them, but this one was just too much for that and my bed was way too squeaky and i couldn't handle it, so i went downstairs. i had a hard time falling asleep anyway because i was hungry, so the first thing i did was eat something. knowing that wasn't gonna make the bubble go away, i took to the living room and basically started doing stretches. when that didn't help, i found a solid spot on the floor and started jumping and then bending back and forth, left and right, front and back. i bounced for a few minutes, stopped for a minute, bounced some more. i got a little bubble out, but it definitely wasn't enough. i went upstairs for a bit and came back downstairs and then wrapped myself in a blanket and went to go see my momma who had already come downstairs when i was back in my room briefly. so i went and saw her, exhaustion pulling on my face like gravity increased tenfold. so i laid on the floor and talked to my mom, doing crunches and sit-ups and all sorts of exercises that i honestly haven't done since i was in high school or something. i got a few more out that way, and i bounced some more and wriggled on the floor like a worm in the rain. i must have looked absolutely ridiculous, but i had gotten an hour and a half of sleep and was tired and in pain but FINALLY. BLESSEDLY. it was gone. so i went back to bed, fell asleep around 10:15 or so, having finally eliminated both my hunger and my painful bubble.
i don't know why i felt the need to elaborate that, but if you get a sharp pain really high in your stomach, like right under your rib cage, that's a gas bubble stuck in your upper intestines. getting rid of it can take a hot minute, and usually requires exercise if you want to do it effectively and/or without medication. your intestines are foldy on the inside, and if a bubble gets stuck you gotta dislodge it and burp it out, so moving around a bunch helps immensely. hence the bouncing, the jumping, the stretching, the crunches, the wriggling on the floor like a burrito with a mind of its own. keep your abdominal muscles tensed, and that'll help you. it's really core exercises that will get you through it. like i said to my mom when i was feeling better, "my cardio for the month is done."
and anyway, that was basically all that happened to me. i'm playing my chicken game, i played animal crossing with bek and illoria and did the fishing contest, and had some reese's cups, and it's now time for bed. i want chinese food really badly, so i'm hoping we can do that tomorrow.
weird day. it was spent almost entirely reading a fox called a bride for the prince on ao3 (it's a princesses-and-knights-and-castles adrinette fic and it was incredible. twenty two chapters and i binged it all in one go, essentially. definitely recommend it if you're invested in the miraculous ladybug love square. because god knows i am. it's a problem.)
and although he's been radio silent for a day or so, i did hear from joel. one thing i like about us being us is that we both understand the need for alone time and we both desperately need it, so even when we're quiet it's not that we're far or distant so much as we need to recharge completely. i love my alone time. being by myself is refreshing and helps me relax because there's no one demanding anything of me. and i can do what i want and not have to talk to anyone or make any noise or do anything someone else wants to do. it's just me and my silence. or my say yes to the dress marathon. either works.
