Ukraine’s railroad network is not just a vital lifeline but a national treasure.
The trains and the people working for the rail system keep the country running and unified at a time when it’s too dangerous for non-military air travel.
Even in wartime the stations are kept clean with amenities for visitors – whether or not they are traveling.
Here are the stats for 26 February 2023 for Ukrainian Railways (Укрзалізниця or УЗ for short).

Such service is roughly on a par with that of Japan and Switzerland – neither of whom is under attack by a genocidal Russian dictator.
Since that CBC report was aired, Alexander Kamyshin has resigned as CEO to become head of the European Integration Office of УЗ. Yes, Ukraine continues to strengthen its ties with the rest of Europe.

Princess Anne talks relevancy of the monarchy and it's declining popularity with CBC News' Adrienne Arsenault. In Canada, in particular, there are a growing number of people disillusioned by the idea of keeping the British monarch as our head of state, this is underpinned by Charles's lower popularity when compared to that of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

What the Russians left behind when they fled Kherson
CBC News: The National
The Russians lost control over Kherson in November, leaving behind a decimated airport, an empty museum and remnants of torture chambers. CBC chief correspondent Adrienne Arsenault saw first-hand what and who remains(..)
P.S. If the Ukrainians had not successfully resisted and stopped the Russian invasion, then millions of Ukrainians would have ended up in similar torture chambers, prisons, concentration camps that the Russians had set up in Kherson and other occupied cities and villages...Those so-called "pacifists" who obstruct the supply of modern weapons to the defenders of Ukraine and all of Europe are actually contributing to the war crimes committed by the Russian imperialists against civilians...

books i read in 2024
Okay so last year I made a post where I was like, wow, I only read 12 books in 2022, but in 2023 I managed to read 30, isn't that impressive...
So, um, this year I hit 75 by the end of June.
Quite a bit of reading got done during a slow period at work in January. Then the autism/adhd found the challenges on Storygraph and got a bit hyperfixated - my two biggest months were May and June, with 15 and 20 books respectively.
Things slowed way down after October, since I've mostly been reading Agatha All Along fanfiction, which sadly doesn't count toward my total. I did manage to limp my way to a grand total of 125 by the end of December.
