His black jacket was zipped up all the way as a way to keep the biting cold winter air out. His wired air-buds were playing Smells Like Teen Spirit. His pale hands were shoved inside his pocket were his left hand toyed with the receipt he had found at your desk. His late night activity (he had jacked off outside of your apartment complex to the silhouette of you in your bedroom window) had stolen his sleep, but he hadn’t minded the night before. However now as the sleeplessness hit him like a drunk driven truck, he started regretting only getting two hours of sleep. Adrian turned up the volume with the button of the wire. And as usual, the raw sound of Kurt Cobain’s voice calmed his nerves.
The bus stopped in front of the shabby bus-stop. Its breaks letting out a shrilling sound. The black haired man sighed in relief as he entered the empty bus. The metal piercings had made his ears numb, and the warmth of the bus was pleasant. He ventured as far back as he could without sitting at the row of back seats in the back, as those often were filled with annoying middle school teens. Despite Adrian’s social awkwardness, the teens never dared to mess with him given his dark clothing and cold stares, but that didn’t stop him from hating them. He slumped back in his seat as he leaned his head against the icy window. The outside blurred together in a mass of white and grey colours as the bus driver drove way over the given speed limit.
The minutes pasted and after the seventh Nirvana song, the bus came to an halt. Its doors swung open and the gloomy man’s humour soured. Please don’t be any of those annoying teens he thought bitterly. Then the sky cleared and in stepped the source of his joy. You were alone and dressed rather casually, but to Adrian you looked like an otherworldly being. He shrunk in his seat as if getting spotted by you would be utterly embarrassing. To his surprise you took a seat by the window two rows in front of him. He cowered his mouth with his hand has he let out a surprised yelp. He ripped out his air-buds as he was afraid he would miss even the tiniest sound from you.
To his joy, you two were the only passengers on the bus. He could see your reflection in the window if he leaned against it with a slightly strained neck. His heart was beating like crazy and he thought he would die from heart attack right then and there. The longer he watched you scroll on your phone with air-buds plugged in your ears, the more he could feel the strain in his loose black jeans. He wanted to roll his eyes at his pitiful state, but he couldn’t help to get bricked up in your proximity.
You were so incredibly beautiful after all, so his reaction was only natural. After making sure you or anyone else couldn’t see it (thank god the bus didn’t have any surveillance cameras) he pulled out his open jacket so that it worked as a little cover. He quietly unzipped his jeans and pulled his dark blue down. He blew in his hand before he gripped his achingly hard dick. His pale dick was flushed an angrily pink and pre-cum was already leaking from the rip. He had to use his hand that was closed to the window, his left hand, despite being right handed due to the jacket that worked like a cover.
Adrian spat in his hand before he worked it up and down the shaft in a slow motion. He needed to be careful so you didn’t notice anything. His grey-blue eyes found your reflection as he watched you with a lidded gaze. He let out a shaky breath as his thumb stroke over his swollen tip. He worked his hand a little faster and pleasure shrouded through him. He threw his head back and bit his lip harshly, to quite any of his whimpers.
You were putting on chapstick on your beautiful lips in a careful manner, which resulting Adrian to almost drool. God he wished it was your lips that were wrapped around his dick instead of his hand. He tightened his grip and picked up the pace. Pale was coated in pre-cum as he continued to jack off. The vein alongside his cock was strained and he was close. So close that he couldn’t help the low whimpers that escaped his lips. With a hasty motion he pulled out a handkerchief from his jacket with his right hand. His breathing was rapid and the warm feeling deep within his gut spread like lightning through his veins. With his gaze strained to your form, he came so hard he saw white stars. Warm cum pumped out from his dick and onto the handkerchief. He slumped forward with his forehead resting against the seat in front of him.
He breathed heavily for a while, before he shoved his dick back into his underwear. He carefully pulled up the zipper with one hand as he stuffed the used handkerchief into his pant pocket. After whipping his hands on a new tissue, he ran his hand through his black soft hair.
He watched you exit the bus at the bus stop by your work. Blue eyes followed you to the door of the worn little coffee shop. He put in his air-buds again and clicked play on the same song he had saw you listing to. You would be his. It wouldn’t be long now. Nothing could ever keep you from him. You were destined to be.

Note
ok going back into that otp meme question game!!
for jelena/william: 8, 10, 27, 28, 13, 15
michael/william: 17, 10, 8, 1, 3
adrian/alex: 22, 23, 30, 3, 4
This is gonna be a long one! Buckle up! 😎
Jelena/William-
8: Nicknames? If so, how did they originate?
William goes between calling Jelena "love", "angel", and "sunshine". Love is pretty standard and accurate, so it's a good one to throw into the mix every now and then. Angel came from when Jelena first started helping William take better care of himself. I've imagined many times that William has passed out from overworking, and when Jelena first saw this, she fought tooth and nail to make sure it never happened again. Sunshine is the newest one, and it comes from William seeing Jelena as a bright, happy light in his life. For Jelena, she typically tends to stick to "sweetheart". Mostly because, for a long time, the people around him just assumed he was harsh and mean and cruel, so Jelena likes to remind him she doesn't see him that way. She sees the kind, hardworking man he really is, and likes to make sure he knows she sees that.
10: Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant?
William remembers the most, because Jelena tends to go for pasta 9 times out of 10. He changes his order up sometimes, and Jelena remembers what he likes every time, but if they go out to eat, it's a good bet that she will get pasta.
13: Who reaches for the other's hand first?
Jelena. William will also reach for her hand first sometimes, but it's usually Jelena reaching for William, to ground herself, to ground him, or just to have that connection between them.
15: Who wakes up first?
If William has to be at the office super early, he is the first up. Or if he has a nightmare. Otherwise, Jelena is the first awake, so she can make sure he has a good breakfast and sometimes a lunch ready, if she knows he won't be able to come to the Library for lunch that day.
27: Who would sing their child back to sleep?
Jelena. Every time. She loves to sing to their child. If William wanted to give it a go, he would either hum, or he would play the violin while Jelena holds their baby.
28: What do they do when they're away from each other?
Most of the time they are away from each other is because of work, so usually they are just doing their jobs. If William is working late, then Jelena will usually be at the house, cleaning, cooking, or if she has some free time, reading or sewing. If William happens to have free time while Jelena is working, he will also either read or he will spend time with his birds.
Michael/Richard-
1: Who is the most affectionate?
Normally I would say Michael is, but I think Richard is actually insanely affectionate with Michael, so it's a really close tie, if not Richard beating Michael out by a tiny bit.
3: Most common argument?
Michael has a hard time letting people do things for him, especially if those things are dangerous. He is capable of protecting himself and others, but there are times when he needs to be protected, but he doesn't want to be seen as a burden. So it takes some time and a lot of talking to get Michael to calm down.
8: Nicknames? If so, how did they originate?
Michael calls Richard "tesoro", which is Italian for "treasure". This came from both Michael's fascination with other languages, and his thinking Richard is a beautiful treasure he has the honor to be near and be adored by.
10: Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant?
They both remember in equal amounts, I would say. They cook a lot, but not as much as Jelena, so they are more prone to going out to eat, so they definitely know and remember by now what each will usually get, unless they decide to try something new.
17: Who says "I love you" first?
I think Richard does. Michael is really scared to be hurt, because he has been in the past, so he is worried about taking things too quickly too fast.
Adrian/Alex-
3: Most common argument?
Feels similar to Richard and Michael's, actually. Adrian and Alex are both insanely capable people, especially when it comes to fighting. But Adrian has already lost someone before, and he doesn't want to lose anyone ever again, so it can be hard for him sometimes to remember that Alex can take care of herself.
4: Favorite non-sexual activity?
Definitely killing people, or examining dead bodies, or both. If they can't do that for one reason or another, they'll read a book together.
22: Who cooks more/is better at cooking?
Alex probably cooks more. Adrian can cook, his skills are just limited to the bare basics, so if they want anything besides pasta or rice or biscuits, Alex needs to cook, or they need to go to Jelena.
23: Who comes up with cheesy pick-up lines?
Alex is insanely good at this. Adrian likes to come up with cheesy things to make her laugh, but Alex is actually much better at it than he is, so she tends to catch him off-guard a lot, which makes it even funnier.
30: One headcanon about this OTP that mends it.
Adrian will always look out for Alex. No matter what universe, what species, what mental state, Adrian will always want Alex, will always want to protect her, will always want to love her.

Elisabeth Welch photographed by Angus McBean for the London stage revue Tuppence Coloured, 1947. Welch was one of three main stars in the revue along with Joyce Grenfell and Max Adrian, and the trio made such a hit that they re-teamed four years later for Penny Plain (both titles were a now archaic reference to toy theatres). Welch performed a variety of numbers in the show in both a sincere and satirical vein (including a smart send-up of existentialism titled Sartre Resartus), but by far the most famous was a song she had personally brought to Britain as a souvenir from Paris, and proceeded to popularise both in London and throughout the provinces:
“Right after the war, in October 1946, I went to Paris to look up some friends, and it was there that I first heard this name, Édith Piaf. Everyone was talking about her and she was playing at a wonderful theatre called the Olympia, an enormous house, so I went to see her. I'll never forget that evening. This little waif appeared on the stage and walked to the centre. There was no glamour, or beauty, but when she opened her mouth you were absolutely fascinated by the passion and the force that came out of this woman. She was so fantastic. ... I found a copy of ‘La Vie en Rose,’ and brought it to London but I had no place to sing it. The following year Laurier Lister started his series of revues with Tuppence Coloured. When we were putting it together I submitted some songs, threw a few music sheets on the floor for Laurier to look at, and he said ‘What's that over there?’ He'd seen Piaf's face on one of the music sheets. I said ‘I can't do that because it's French’ and he said ‘Why not?’ So we put it in the show but I said if I sing it, I sing it in French because when they make translations they're diabolical. Tuppence Coloured was a big success and everywhere I sang ‘La Vie en Rose,’ on tour in places like Aberdeen and Liverpool, and then in London, it had a fantastic reception. It's a beautiful song, even if you don't know French. I love the song because it's from the heart, and Piaf sang it from the heart. I'm so proud I introduced it to Britain.” --  Elisabeth Welch

Stressed out working from home? Consider a hotel day pass
Might the Chateau Laurier be your new workplace? THE CANADIAN PRESS/Adrian Wyld
J.Ok. Rowling famously wrote her Harry Potter collection from native cafés and, ultimately, out of a five-star lodge. She discovered that working from residence had too many distractions, together with child-care tasks.
As a substitute, she merely wanted a quiet and simulating place to work that was freed from distractions and allowed her to be productive.
Oprah Winfrey Community.
Equally, as we close to the 10th month of mandated distant work, many staff working from residence are struggling for a wide range of causes, simply as Rowling did. Maybe it’s time to rethink the idea of working from residence versus working from wherever safely.
Between 40 per cent to 70 per cent of staff at the moment working remotely resulting from COVID-19 restrictions wish to return to the workplace, with security measures in place.
Having a devoted, distraction-free work house can maintain staff on process and foster deeper cognitive processing. It could actually additionally assist separate work hours from non-work hours.
Nonetheless, returning to the workplace isn’t probably an choice since many companies would possibly stay closed properly into 2021, or some might need moved completely to a work-from-home mannequin. Some staff may also be going through a prolonged commute in the event that they’ve moved away from cities through the prolonged pandemic.
Learn extra: Younger staff can thrive after coronavirus layoffs by leaving huge cities
In the meantime, the lodge business throughout Canada has been severely and negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tons of of hundreds of lodge staff are out of jobs. On the finish of October 2020, Canadian lodges reported emptiness charges starting from 64.four per cent in British Columbia to 84.5 per cent in Québec. Many lodges are on the point of collapse.
An answer could also be inside attain that solves each issues.
Just like the “store native” messaging encouraging customers to purchase from small neighbourhood retailers, working remotely from a close-by lodge may very well be an answer that advantages each distant staff and native lodges till the pandemic has handed.
The unfavorable aspect of working from residence
Working from residence for the final 10 months has left some staff feeling remoted, depressed and disengaged. Whereas there are a lot of advantages related to working from residence, emotional exhaustion ranges of staff enhance when working from residence extensively.
The blurring of non-public {and professional} house causes some staff to wrestle switching off from work. This reduces cognitive well-being and negatively impacts sleep high quality.
Individuals working in a house crowded with relations additionally undergo from the “time elasticity phantasm.” That occurs when others assume the employee can spend time on family duties with out it having an influence on the period of time spent on paid work. This involuntary overlap of family and work commitments results in fatigue.
Tumblr media
Distant work and the blurring {of professional} and private time can lead to insomnia and fatigue. (Ben Blennerhassett/Unsplash)
There’s a spillover impact of that fatigue. Finish-of-day work exhaustion results in difficulties beginning work and staying on process the next day. This will change into a troublesome cycle to interrupt.
Analysis exhibits that staff who concentrate on discovering devoted, distraction-free work areas throughout peak effectivity hours are extra productive and fewer stressed about their jobs.
Tumblr media
Some staff just like the construction of the office. (Unsplash)
Research additionally recommend the mundane routines of on a regular basis working life like preparing, consuming breakfast and commuting make some individuals blissful. Moreover, these routines create a buffer between private {and professional} time.
Some individuals additionally crave the normalcy and construction of the office. Others, particularly dad and mom, wish to get away from the distractions of residence.
How do lodge staff profit?
Aligned with this, lodges have broadened their enterprise mannequin and began providing packages which can be geared toward distant staff. These working from residence can entry a neighborhood lodge on a day or particular go. These passes usually embody particular charges (every day, weekly or month-to-month), devoted work areas and waived charges for particular providers like gyms and swimming pools. These providers can each assist staff overcome the pressure of an unique work-from-home state of affairs whereas giving a lift to native companies.
In 2019, there have been greater than 10,000 lodging providers companies throughout Canada. Most of those employed between 5 to 99 staff. These jobs are sometimes part-time, offering employment that’s extremely accessible to ladies, younger staff and immigrants.
Sadly, greater than 50 per cent of lodge staff misplaced their jobs between January and June of 2020, with little or no employment restoration since then.
Breaking the cycle
Whereas lodges historically present in a single day lodging for travellers, they will entice totally different shoppers by advertising and marketing themselves as secure, distraction-free, devoted locations to work for individuals who work at home and wish to interrupt the cycle of exhaustion.
The usage of lodge house by distant staff, even briefly, can assist employment of native lodge staff, making a twin profit at a time of uncertainty.

If lodge rooms are sitting empty through the pandemic, why not put them to good use? (Ming Dai/Pixabay)
And in response to the World Well being Group, working from a lodge is secure if primary COVID-19 precautions are adopted. These embody washing fingers steadily, carrying masks and sustaining a secure distance from others. Plexiglas shields or distant/keyless check-in, entry and checkout methods are additionally helpful.
If stressed-out staff and hoteliers want extra data, the Lodge Affiliation of Canada (HAC), in partnership with the Public Well being Company Canada, has created a COVID-19 portal offering data for lodges on a wide range of security measures and initiatives.
Within the meantime, some main lodge chains, together with Marriott, Hilton and the Lodge Intercontinental have launched work-from-hotel packages geared toward offering some aid for stressed-out individuals who have to get out of their houses to successfully do their jobs — or possibly even create the following Harry Potter phenomenon.

PEOPLE ARE BETTER THAN RECORDS : this is the end (pt 21)
Christophe Cools, 43 ans, Metz.
Ex-bassiste du LO-FI BAND et alter-ego littéraire de THE STRANGER.
A choisi Fantaisie Militaire d’ALAIN BASHUNG.
.
Tumblr media

Your laughter filled the library in a sweet melody that rivalled the trumpets of heaven. It was soft and addictive like a drug. The grey skies were devoid of the sun, because the sun was in the old library with him. His heart hammered in his rib cage and Adrian feared it would escape at any second. His palms were sweaty and his breath shaky. He felt like a devotee in front of the god he worshipped. Which was true in some way.
He stole a glance from behind the trusted bookshelf that acted as his shield. When his pale eyes found you, his breath was sucked out of him and he could feel death kiss him on his lip. God were you beautiful, and god was he pathetic.
He swallowed thickly as he eyed the rodents who dared to be in your presence. If only they knew about your greatness. The nails of the black haired man had left crescent moons on his pale palm. The sting of pain which fully pulsated in the small wounds, sent shivers down his spine. What would you do if you saw him like this? Would you scold him? Comfort him? Or maybe you would be disgusted?
You threw your head back in laughter and yet again were his ears blessed by the heavenly sound. He leaned his head on the shelf above him as he continued to watch you through the small gap above the books. You were so gorgeous and radiant. The light above you created a halo above your head. Your hair looked so soft his fingers aches to run through it. When your lips wrapped around the lid of your coffee cup, he whimpered softly which he quickly silenced with his hand. Oh how he wished it was his lips that met yours.
You were a rather quiet person when you weren’t in the company of your friends. Your shift in personality was fascinating and Adrian wished you would act as carefree around him. With your bag hoisted onto your shoulder, you made your way to the lecture hall with quick steps. Like a shadow he followed suit. He was incredibly lucky to be sharing classes with you.
You took a seat on the second last row. A grin crept across his face as he took a seat right behind you. As the time passed by he continued to watch you instead of the lecture. You were way more interesting anyway. He watched your every moment intensely as if he was afraid to miss even the tiniest movement.
When the lecture was over, Adrian was almost disappointed. As he stretched his sore limbs after sitting for so long, he noticed something pink and sparkly on your seat. He moved down a row and hesitantly picked up the pen. Adrian held it as if it’s the most delicate and fragile thing. He inspected it closely before he shoved it in his bag.
The lamp on his dresser flickered on, revealing the messy room. Clothes were littered all over the dark floors and onto his desk chair. His bed was the only thing that was without mess. The duvet were laid properly just as his mum had thought him all those years ago. Old habits die hard. With the blink of an eye he was before the walking-in-closet door in the far corner of his room. He twisted the key and the door creaks as he opened it, but Adrian could not care less. His and fumbled for the light switch and when the little room lit up, he breathed out a ragged breath.
He pulled the ballpoint pen out of his pocket and gently placed it down on the alter he had made out of an antique table with beautiful woodcarvings. Pictures of you filled the white walls. They were from all shorts of angles and taken in different settings. The alter was decorated with used tissues, movie tickets, used underwear and other treasures he had collected from you. They were his priced possessions. He let out a shaky breath as his eyes took in every detail of the cramped room. He fell to his knees and pressed his forehead to the edge of the alter. His blood ran through his veins only for you and the oxygen that filled his lungs only kept him alive because you graced the earth. A unhinged laughter filled the room in a symphony of love and praises. As a follower of a god he kneeled and worshipped his god.
One thing was clear, you would be his. No matter what.

Greenest Building In Canada
WATERLOO — The latest addition to the David Johnston Research and Technology Park is being hailed as the first building in Canada to achieve a new national zero carbon designation.
The Evolv1 building at 420 Wes Graham Way has received a zero carbon building design certification from the Canada Green Building Council.
The designation means the 110,000-square-foot office building is extremely energy efficient, producing enough carbon-free renewable energy to offset the annual carbon emissions associated with its operations.
The building, expected to be completed this summer, was designed and built by the Waterloo-based Cora Group in collaboration with the lead tenant, EY Canada, Sustainable Waterloo Region and the research park.
Design and engineering firm Stantec Inc. was hired to help design it as well.
With a large array of solar panels on the roof and more covering sections of the parking lot, Evolv1 will produce more electricity than it uses.
Triple-glazed windows, a three-storey atrium with a living wall, technology that taps into heat produced underground and charging stations for electric vehicles are among the technologies included in the building.
"What's really key about this building is we are delivering it at market rates," said Adrian Conrad, chief operating officer at Cora.
"We have put together a business model where we can deliver that at the same rates as any other new building in the market."
The zero carbon building program was launched late last year by the green building council. Evolv1 is among 16 buildings that joined the council's pilot program for this new standard.
"They are the first ones to come through and get certified," said Mark Hutchinson, the council's vice-president of green building programs.
The zero carbon standard was launched to encourage the construction of buildings that eliminate carbon emissions, a  cause of climate change. It is estimated that 20 to 30 per cent of all greenhouse gas emissions come from buildings, said Hutchinson.
"We hope to see the industry pick up the standard, and adopt it quite rapidly," he said.
Evolv1's two main tenants — EY Canada and TextNow — have leased most of the building. Evolve Green, a collaborative project involving Sustainable Waterloo Region, the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and the Accelerator Centre is taking up space to work on clean technology.
Tenants will move in by late summer or early fall. At this point, only 10,000 square feet of space remains available for lease.
The performance of Evolv1's green technology and features will be carefully assessed after one year. If the building meets all objectives it will be awarded LEED Platinum, the council's highest standard for energy efficiency. LEED stands for leadership in energy and environmental design.
But Cora Group isn't waiting for that to come through before proceeding with Evolv2, an office building that will go up across the street from Evolv1.
"We are starting planning right now," said Conrad. "We've got some preliminary site plan work, and I am in the process of interviewing my team."

Lise Pauton, contortionist
French performer Lise Pauton knew she wanted to be a contortionist from an early age. She grew up in her family circus school and from the age of 14 studied at the Ècole Nationale de Cirque de Châtellerault near Poitiers, gaining her Bacalaureat in circus arts and literature. She has performed her solo acts La Poule Noir and La Poule Blanche internationally, has created two solo shows – Cri de Coq! and Au Fil des Torsions, has her own company, Raiemanta and has appeared in films. Lise also models for art projects.
Tumblr media
She co-created the solo show Heart with Hamburg-based Italian director Sebastiano Toma, who has directed The Tiger Lillies and created the show Little Big World. (For my review of Heart click here and scroll down to 'Heart of the Show’.) In-between sessions of teaching in Toulouse, she tells Adrian Arratoon about taking advantage of serendipity and how she wants to move the art of contortion in a new direction. How did you start in circus? I was born in 1989, and at this time in France new circus arrived. My grandfather and mother had had a roller-skating school, and he was inspired by traditional circus and tzigane music. We were aware of the new wave of circus but we were in the south of France, in Provence, far away from Paris where Annie Fratellini's circus school was. So it was only on TV that we could see what was happening in the world of circus: the first show of Cirque du Soleil, for example, where you could start to see different things happening. My mother and my grandfather were a little bit crazy people, really open; they’d put me into a capoeira workshop or into an improvisational theatre course.   My grandfather and my mother were not professional circus artists but they opened a circus school. They were into sports and roller skating and they decided to learn how to teach acrobatics and trapeze. My mum did a workshop with Annie Fratellini when Annie was in the south of France with some teachers. They never tried to become circus artists. They were really passionate about circus but they wanted to fight for this circus school for the children in the middle of the countryside. It was never about the money or having a salary; it was really for the children; it came from the heart. The school was called Les Patineurs de Valaurie – Valaurie was the name of the village where I grew up. Now the circus school is called Cirk'Onflex, and mixes circus and contemporary dance.
Tumblr media
What was it about contortion that you fell in love with? My parents were working a lot, with the circus school and a roller-skating show. One day my grandfather said it was time to put me into school: “She was supposed to start two years ago!” To give me motivation to work at school he found a trick. “Oh, Lise, every day I will record on to VHS cassette something about shows or circus, or clowns like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy or the Monte Carlo Circus Festival.” Every day I'd finish school and quickly do my homework, dying to see what the new recording of the day was.
One day I saw a show, like Cirque du Soleil, with someone like Angéla Laurier, who makes some spider contortion. Every time when I was watching contortionists when I was a small girl, four, five years old, I said, ‘Oh, me too! I want to put my foot on my head!’. Trapeze? It was, ‘Yes, nice’. Juggling? ‘Oh [shrugs]’. But contortion? Just putting my foot on my head, it was, ‘Oh!’. And I asked my grandfather and he said: "Oh, OK, let's try." And as a child it was really easy to do, and I've stayed passionate about it ever since. As you become older does contortion become more difficult ? When I was a child it was really easy until I was 11 and had to spend time doing schoolwork. Then a couple of acrobatic contortionists arrived in our area. They wanted to meet my mother because they wanted to create their own circus school but didn't know how to do it. My mother said they could spend a year teaching at our circus school. One was called Emmanuelle Perre, or Manou. When I was 13 or 14 I watched her and learned how to warm up. I thought, ‘Wow, she's so professional, she does handstands! I want to do that!’. So when I spent a year with her I wanted to become like her. Did you always want to be a performer? Always. From the day I told my grandfather I wanted to put my foot on my head. I was a little girl who was always dreaming about doing circus. At one point I thought about training to become a cinema actress but that idea didn't last very long. I knew circus was what I wanted to do. When I was 14 I went to the school in Châtellerault. During the week I stayed at the school and at the weekend I was with a host family. Then when i was 17 my parents helped me to rent a studio flat there. I learned to be independent really early.
youtube
As well as Cri de Coq!, you have two solo acts about chickens: La Poule Noire and La Poule Blanche. Do you keep chickens in your garden? Do you eat chicken?
Ha ha, it's a crazy story, because after going to the circus school in Chatellerault I was 18 and I tried to get into some high-level circus school and nobody wanted me, because in those kinds of circus schools you need acrobatics, and me, I was really not interested in this kind of thing; I just liked the artistic part. And people would say: “No, Lise, you have zero out of 10 when it comes to power…” So I went to Toulouse because the school there, the Lido, was more open, they looked first at the person and how she wants to work with the technique she has; they look at personality first. And the Lido Circus school said I was too young to join because I was only 18. They said I had to be more adult and more psychologically prepared.
But they said: “Welcome to Toulouse; we will look at you and maybe after one year you can try again.” There was a really good teacher called Pascal Angelier, from traditional circus, who was really good at teaching handstands. I was thinking. ‘Wow, I can go to Toulouse and take free lessons from him in the evening’. He gave them for freelance circus artists. And every Wednesday at this circus school there is an open stage, including one for freelance artists, and they said if I stayed in Toulouse I should perform in that show so they could follow what I was doing. The first time I went to the open stage I was really scared, you know; it was a big stage with so many people who come to see the shows, for free. I thought: "No, I will never do that!"
And I waited and I waited and at the last open stage of the year, the director of teaching came to me and said: “Lise, you know, if you want to go to this circus school we ask you to do this open stage, and there is one last opportunity.” So I created The Black Chicken. I was looking for something I could do, I didn't want to do an improvisation, there are 300 people there… I just thought, ‘OK, take a big jacket and work a little bit with your hand and create a story about a woman who's a little bit strange, a bit like a classical dancer, a little bit eccentric’. And it became Black Chicken because everybody said to me: “Lise, I don't know if you realise but you really looked like a chicken when you were performing that!”

And I never went to that circus school because I got a contract with this chicken act. I never thought I would be paid for doing this act!

Your story is inspirational for people who don't get into circus school; iit shows that there is an alternative.
Yes, but you need to be really strong because all the time I was really scared and so young, and alone all the week. I rented a little studio by myself to practise. And I had no structure, I didn't go to parties, I just worked. But you have to be strong otherwise it can be really hard.

Tumblr media

How did you meet Sebastiano Toma?
I met him at the Sol y Circo Festival in Germany. One day someone said I needed to show my Chickens in Germany, in varieté. I did not know what varieté was, and the only contact I could find, on Facebook, was Tobias Fiedler, who ran Sol y Circo. So I wrote him a message, not to be considered for his festival at all, just to send him my video and to contact someone who knew varieté. And I got a message saying: “Hello Lise, if you like you are invited to perform at the Sol y Circo festival: it's in one month.” He said casting was over but invited me anyway. So I went and everyone was a little bit surprised, the jury hadn't seen me before. That's where I met Sebastiano. He looked at me and said: “Hmm, interesting… interesting…”
I knew him by name because when I was in the Châtellerault circus school there were some flyers for shows in the hallway and one of them was for a Tiger Lillies show that he was involved with. I remember it because there was a photo of a contortionist on it! And I realised that he was always working with contortionists. I thought that maybe one day I would have the opportunity to work with someone like that.

On the last day of the festival there was a party, and a friend said: “Lise, you have to go to the discotheque, to the bar.” And I hate that sort of thing, but she said: “Everybody goes there, it's a celebration, you need to go there.” So I said: “OK, I'll go but I'm not going in, I'll stay on the terrace [laughs].” And Sebastiano was there because he didn't want to go inside either. So we just sat and talked. And then we understood we had lots of things in common.

How long did you work on preparing Heart?
Two years. Sebastiano had never worked with someone doing a solo before; often he has a lot of people on stage, and many times works with people who already have an act, so we spoke about how to start from zero and create everything. He is in Hamburg and I am in Toulouse. We tried to find a starting point for the creation. I also started a contract with GOP with Chickens, and whenever I had a break from those shows I'd go to Hamburg. For me it was, whew, really hard. We spent a year doing that and we finished in France.

In Heart you're on stage alone for more than an hour. It's obviously physically hard work but is it mentally difficult too?
I'd already done two solo shows before but what is good with Heart is we really built a strong story, action and reaction, so if we want to change something really small in the show everything around it broke because it's all so detailed. I never have a moment where I don't know what I am doing, it all flows and is controlled. I just have to push my emotions and let myself go. But the skeleton of the show is really strong. Everything is so clear.

Tumblr media
What do you have planned for the rest of 2017?
Lots of things! I have a company, Raiemanta. I am teaching a lot; we're waiting to hear on a few things with Heart. I'm doing my chicken shows. I am performing Le Fil des Torsions in the Musée Soulages in Rodez, one hour from Toulouse; they are taking a contortion show, and I'm so excited about that. I'm creating a new short show called Harmonia; we started rehearsals in January and we'll finish in June. It's a sort of continuation of Heart: I want to make three international collaborations; with Sebastiano it's French-German; Harmonia is French-Moroccan, and in two years' time I'm making a French-Ukranian show with someone who lives in France. It's interesting to have other influences, moods and energy.

And you're as committed to contortion as ever?
I have really changed my point of view about contortion. I'm 27 and I started doing it when I was four. More and more I enjoy changing the language of contortion. It is really extreme but I like to stress the ‘torsion’ aspect of it. I want to push contortion more into a 'torsion' way because 'contortion' is something so closed, where you try to make your body so small. But with torsion you can use space. I really hope one day I can push a new movement in circus for contortionists and break this traditional code of contortion from Asia or from yoga. What I do is different. I hope I can create a new body language.

will/jelena: 6, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 19
richard/michael: 19, 6, 7, 27, 25, 24
alex/adrian: 1, 2, 5, 9, 11, 17
honestly at this point you're just answering the entire list for all of them lol
No worries! This is fun!
William/Jelena-
6: What is their favorite feature of their partner's?
Jelena really likes William's arms. She likes being held by them, being carried in them, and likes that she's one of few people who sees his bare arms sometimes. 😏 William would say his favorite feature of Jelena's is her smile. That smile alone has gotten him through many rough days. He knows when he sees her smile, everything is okay.
7: What's the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?
Jelena is already really prone to blushing, but when she realizes she likes William romantically, she will not stop blushing around him. She is constantly pink or red in the face when he's around. The first thing that changes for William is he panics. He doesn't often lose his cool, but realizing that he likes Jelena freaks him out a little, because he's not felt this way for someone else in a long time, and he's a little worried about messing up or losing her.
9: Who worries the most?
They both actually worry pretty equally. William has a dangerous job, whenever they send him out to the field, so Jelena worries he'll get hurt. He also doesn't look after himself very well, so she worries he's not as healthy as he should be until she's able to take care of him. But Jelena also works alone in the Great Library. If anything were to attack the Library, Jelena doesn't have a lot of defenses, and she's unable to make portals to escape, so she could get very hurt, and William is super worried about losing her.
11: Who tops?
William. Jelena will initiate sometimes, but that's the extent of her having any control. All of the control goes to William, and he makes very good use of it~
14: Who kisses the hardest?
William again. Relates to the previous question, so there isn't much more to say about it, honestly.
18: Who leaves little notes in the other one's lunch? (Bonus: what does it usually say?)
Jelena always makes sure that William has a lunch to eat during the day, so she absolutely gives him little notes to go with them. Encouraging him, wishing him well, reminding him she loves him, all of that and more. Alternatively, William will sometimes send one of his pigeons with a little note for Jelena~
19: Who tells their family/friends about their relationship first?
Neither has any family by the time they get together, and even if they did, William doesn't talk to his family, Jelena's parents ignore her, and her sister abuses her, so nothing good would come from telling them anything. As for friends, Jelena is more likely to be the first to tell anyone about their relationship.
Richard/Michae-
6: What is their favorite feature of their partner's?
Michael is really into the fact Richard is taller than him. He can't explain it, but there is something about being shorter than his boyfriend that makes him feel nice.
7: What's the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?
Not a whole lot changes for Michael, I think. He worries a little bit that Richard won't feel the same way, and like his mother, he blushes a bit more frequently, but other than that, not much changes.
19: Who tells their family/friends about their relationship first?
Michael absolutely tell his parents the second Richard is comfortable with him doing so. The Spears all have a good relationship with each other, so Michael doesn't hide anything from his parents. They're ecstatic that he has someone he loves who loves him in return.
24: Who whispers inappropriate things in the other's ear during inappropriate times?
Richard is super guilty of this. He's not too bad about doing it during inappropriate times, but he still does it sometimes, and it flusters Michael every time.
25: Who needs more assurance?
I would say Michael does. He's been hurt before, because he's a natural-born reaper, the Supervisor's son, and he's on the asexual spectrum. People either think he's a freak of nature, try to get close to him to get on William's good side, or try to "fix" him. So Michael needs some assurance that he's not wrong, that he's not broken.
27: Who would sing their child back to sleep?
I actually don't know if Richard sings at all. Michael does a little bit, but he's not that good at it. He learned a little bit of violin from his father, so he would prefer to do that or hum.
Alex/Adrian-
1: Who is the most affectionate?
Let's see... they're both insanely affectionate... My gut reaction is to say Adrian is more affectionate... So I'm going to say he is, but only by a sliver of a margin.
2: Big spoon/little spoon?
Adrian is the big spoon, and Alex is the little spoon.
5: Who is most likely to carry the other?
Adrian carries Alex. He's not as quick to do so as William is for Jelena, but he does very much enjoy carrying her when he gets the chance to.
9: Who worries the most?
I think Adrian worries the most? Unless it's a scenario where Adrian has gone insane, then Alex definitely worries the most, since Adrian doesn't have any worries anymore at that point.
11: Who tops?
Adrian does, but on very rare occasions, he'll relinquish his position to let Alex top, but it's not very often.
17: Who says "I love you" first?
I think Alex says the words first, but there are many other ways to say "I love you" with actions, and in that case, they say it a lot to each other, and usually at the same time.

Your loser yandere oc feel like they play Eletric guitar…and I would stupidly fall for that-
Adrian knows how to play the guitar, he is actually rather good at it! Though given his laziness, he often opts to watching his dear darling through your window than playing his guitar🤷🏼‍♀️
Men who play the guitar is soooo hot, so I can’t blame you🤭
