Visual Diary 3 Post 1: Adjustable Kid's Jeans

My first example of a human-centered design product is adjustable kid's jeans. As shown in this image, there is an adjustable elastic waistband that can be tightened or loosened using a button. The design is so intentionally and appropriately aimed towards growing children. I learned about these jeans in December when Angel Tree shopping vlogs were trending on TikTok. I saw a comment on one of the videos saying that adjustable kid's jeans are a perfect Angel Tree gift because they allow wiggle room for a child's size, AND allows the child to grow into jeans even a while after they were received.

I found this product to be very inspiring. Children grow so fast, and I can imagine that, as parents, it must be hard to keep up with buying new clothes so constantly. Therefore, flexible-sized jeans become a desideratum — especially in instances such as Angle Tree gifting when you are shopping for children who may not be able to afford many clothes and need these jeans to fit for as long as possible. Sizing is a human need that varies so much between different humans, and this product goes above and beyond other jeans to meet this need so well.

#i dont think i’ve talked my nonverbal!Diluc hc on here yet #but i keep seeing posts abt disability/chronjcally ill/neurodivergent hcs for genshin characters so here’s one from me #idk i feel like after That Night™️ and being on the run from the Fatui/working with a secret organization #diluc not just learns the ‘value’ of keeping secrets and staying quiet but also internalizes his guilt and trauma of saying smth that could #hurt people #it started with him telling Kaeya that he’s not a Ragnvindr anymore and then is exacerbated by his 3-4 Year Fatui Murder Rampage thru Teyvat #and with all ghat trauma and self-deprecation and paranoia he just. stops talking.#he picks up sign language in Fontaine and still writes but at some point he just stops talking and never speaks again #when he comes back to Mondstadt it was hard to adjust to for both him and the people around him #Kaeya initially assumes that Diluc just refuses to talk to him until he later hears gossip abt how no one has ever heard him speak since he #came back. he goes to Adelinde and/or Elzer abt it and they tell him that they neve even hear Diluc so much as hum or grunt #afterwards everyone changes up real fast— Kaeya and Venti drinking at the bar and seemingly just talking at Diluc but they’re always #observing his reactions and body language even when they’re drunk #Jean tries her best to be patient but she has a hard time reading him bc he’s changed so much in the time he’s been gone #Adelinde & Elzer and the winery staff are the most communicative he’s with— Diluc is far more likely to write with them to communicate #at some point Diluc has a business meeting with some rich dude from Fontaine or smth #Kaeya walks in bc he has an actual important mission thinf to discuss and he sees Diluc and this Fontaine dude and the dude’s wife #moving their hands so fast and with all kinds of gestured and stuff #and it’s the first time Kaeya sees Diluc look so EXPRESSIVE— he’s frowning and raising his eyebrows and mouthing words and all this #and Kaeya just goes ‘what’#turns out the Fontainian dude is deaf and both him and his hearing wife know sign; she helps interpret this to kaeya for the dude and Diluc #and Kaeya is like ‘oh okay’ and goes to the kitchen like ‘i’ll just wait here till yall are finished’#and he sees Adelinde and Elzer there with stoic faces and they just. stand there in quiet for so long.#Kaeya finally says ‘…..so. sign language huh’ and Adelinde and Elzer have the most pained looks on their faces #later that week Diluc finds like everyone around suddenly doing basic signs with him #he later learns that the winery has ordered a shitton of signing books from Fontaine and are trying to learn #+ Kaeya and Jean too with help from Lisa bc like dont you know learning several languages is a requirement for graduation from the Akademiya #soon the use of sign starts spreading in Mondstadt— there might be some small communities where they have their own native sign but it’s not #as standardized nor widely known as it is in Fontaine #this is getting really long so I’ll stop here but yeah. nonverbal Diluc who signs fjskdjs

OH MY GOD A YEAR AGO TODAY .

#thats literally insane what do you mean that crazy day was last year. oh boy ok hastily thought up recap thought time #what that day included:#stupidly going out into july in los angeles heat that morning in jeans and a long sleeve black shirt #in that state of extreme sweatiness: meeting john l of tmbg fame. who id be seeing in concert that exact night #an insane story i have told before but nonetheless incredibly bonkers #later that day when i went out again i (also stupidly) wore sandals that cut up the back of my heels #i toughed it out later and put socks on and the russell brand of cdg high tops on and danced at the concert anyway #wore a full gold glitter suit. was still worried about being unnoticeable #i was too scareddddddd to talk to christi who i saw hanging around before the show which i regret #the best part of the concert and that trip to california was seeing it with my best friend who i finally met in person for that trip #he was dressed as ron and i of course was russ in the glitter suit. my hair did not turn out as magically russ as desired #what else. i was too ough before the concert to eat my combination lunch dinner of panda express something #but i did get overpriced fancy crackers and rosé at the hbowl which was my sparks dinner #ok now let me get to the show itself. i did a review the night of but lets see if there are any details i forgot that i can remember now #like right at the beginning of so may we start there was the audible sound of a glass breaking so awesome. someone was ready to get down #russell getting choked up talking abt their mom taking them to the hollywood bowl as kids i haven't stopped crying #oh yeah all the stupid people in the pool circle (front seats) who didn't care about seeing sparks. youre all going to hell #especially the people that left before the show ended #russell achieved some maximum awooga levels but i may have been picking up on those especially because of the rosé #russell saying to the audience in between singing all that how beautiful it looked with everyone turning the light on their phones #another thing i havent stopped crying over #also got a fun bootleg shirt specific to that show when walking back to the hotel. thank you slightly sketchy guy #that whole night and everything was bonkers insane and wonderful can i Please relive it now. please #like literally this time last year adjusting for time zone i was uhhhhh. probably injuring myself in those stupid sandals #and id do it again! well maybe not but id relive that day again #ok anyway. one year huh

How do you feel about Cuno and/or Cunoesse?

i really love them both and it's incredible how fast i went from being like "ew what the hell" to "i would kill and die for these children"

other people have made good points about them already, like how cunoesse is treated with far less sympathy by fans since she remains terrified of and hostile towards harry and kim while cuno opens up and can become a companion in kim's place. cuno is a tragic little kid and i hate that his only chance to get out of his life is to become a cop, but honestly that fits in with the narrative we see about how people get sucked into harmful systems.

cunoesse, though... cuno is all she has. if he leaves to become a junior officer, she's got no one. she's a lonely, traumatized, violently reactive kid and cuno is all she has in the whole world. and cuno knows this and, despite his horrible father being a bad role model, cuno *steps up*. that's not cunoesse, some vile slur-spitting creature behind the fence. that's C, his little sister, and sure, she's a nuisance, but he'll be damned if you try to rip her away from him. he can privately admit to you that she's a little much sometimes, that despite appearances he isn't hers to control, but trying to get him away from her will make him withdraw from you. she's done bad things because she's an abused child who probably had to in order to survive, and cuno is absolutely judgment-free, even admires her for it. what they have is the closest thing to love that either of them has felt. that relationship means so much to me and i genuinely feel that they can't be separated from each other without badly hurting them both

#personally (controversially) i don't like aus where harry and/or kim and/or jean adopt one or even both of them #harry and jean are in no place to be caring for a child and kim has the added layer of just. not liking kids #and kim shows like 0 empathy towards cuno and C #none of them would make suitable caretakers #i think cuno and C could grow into the hardie boys group. and i think titus & co might talk to lilienne about helping out #since being socialized with a mother figure & some fellow cared-for children might help them adjust #sometimes i think about how revachol will be bombed in 22 years and how young cuno/C/little lily/the twins will be when it happens #it makes me sad :(#kiwipost #cdr meta #cunoesse meta

Kaeya is rather touch averse, cringing away from casual contact people give him under the guise of being distracted or idle movement. He's used to it, the Ragnvindrs and Adenlinde got him used to frequent affectionate physical contact, but it can still be entirely Uncomfortable if he's touched by someone outside those he is close to or someone he's otherwise Allowed to touch him.

Can tolerate it to appear friendly; sure #//But would rather not want people to touch him so easily.
