They've started writing a new chapter

Been going back over bits from early All Creatures episodes for fun and was taken aback to hear Siegfried say that Mr. Mulligan specifically asked for Tristan because Clancy has known him since he was a little boy.

… Clancy is still around in the ‘83 special, in 1946, 9 years after season 1. What are we classifying as “little boy”? Even if we stretch the definition in a very, very big way and consider that to mean Tristan’s youth generally and say he was a teenager, that would make Clancy a very old dog by 1946. We’re not given ages to work with that I’m aware of so I’ve always vaguely headcanoned that Tris is about 25 in the first season, so say we go back a bit to his teenage years — even at the oldest possible teen age of 19, Clancy would be roughly 15 in 1946, which is considerably old for such a big dog, and that’s just if he were literally born that year, let alone how old he might have already been. But if we take the dialogue much more literally which I’m sure is what was intended, then Clancy is insanely old and already shouldn’t be alive in 1937, let alone 1946.

Conclusion: Clancy is simply immortal. He has always been here and always will be.

Season 3 Christmas Special

ACGAS Christmas Special Spoilers (random musings and thoughts)

- Little Eva as Dorothy, her little ruby slippers “not working” oh no, break our hearts why don’t you?

- Jenny & Eva together was adorable. Mr Alderson as a grumpy Father Christmas was hilarious.

- FINALLY Siegfried & Tristan had the I love you fest they deserved. that was so DAMN perfect and beautiful and almost American for how thick they laid it on. (I’m not complaining!)

- But I think this means that we’re going to move onto another character Siegfried has been repressing his affection for. because I think this episode is actually setting up Siegfried & Audrey as our endgame after all?? 

- I really wasn’t sure what to expect, considering the trailer focused so much on Audrey & Gerald. and I am SO happy Audrey finally got a moment of happiness for herself (and some lip action!) Gerald is so sweet. 

- but they set it up in such a way that Audrey was choosing between the two men in her life. Siegfried was slowly sliding his hand towards hers with that small smile and he was saying, “I should have listened to you, Mrs Hall. You always seem to know what’s best for me.” and she was too distracted, I’m crying.

- then he saw them kissing under the mistletoe and his face was so??!! this is a man who just realised what he’s been ignoring and I think season 4 may open a new chapter for them.

- so happy Siegfried & Tristan hugged goodbye tbh. I won’t be over it for some time.
