OPINIONS ON GRAVITY FALLS
OK SINCE YOU ASKED I WILL ANSWER WITHOUT GIVING SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2!! Because I know you've not seen it yet. Not sure how much of this is opinions and how much is just rambles though.
First, context, Gravity Falls is a show I have been obsessed with since it came out. I own a copy of Journal 3 and Dipper's hat and can't wait to get the Book of Bill when it comes out. So my opinions are gonna be biased!!
The greatest episode of Gravity Falls and my favourite of all time is S2Ep4: Sock Opera (watch the episode and you'll understand why, though please watch the rest of that season too haha). No further questions needed, it speaks for itself in every second of that episode.
My favourite episode from Series 1 would have to be either Legend of the Gobblewonker or Dreamscaperers. Both are fun to watch and have sweet endings and notes to it, as well as incredible comedy and great pacing. They hit so good every time.
Boyz Crazy is one of my least favourite episodes because it reminds me of primary school where everyone was feral about One Direction and I just didn't get it at all, but I still find it hilarious.
Most of my least favourite episodes involve some kind of romance subplot - thats not to say all romance centric episodes are bad, I just find it less interesting to me when it turns out Mabel's new crush is Regular Guy (Normal Man) and not five gnomes in a hoodie. Or oh look Dipper is crushing on Wendy, what's new? Its probably because I never really related to it.
My favourite character is Grunkle Stan. He's funny and a weird old man, as Mabel eloquently puts it. He's gruff, sweaty, wrinkled, and a bit of an asshole. And he cares so much for his family. He tries and thats what counts. Also his absolute lack of shame about cash - like in Double Dipper where he launches himself at that dollar bill - and conning and scamming tourists out of their money is so hilarious to me. Grunkle Stan is dear to my heart and will always be my favourite character.
Pacifica is another one of my favourite characters! She gets a fair bit more character development in the second series, and I still find myself laughing at every interaction the Pines family has with her when I rewatch the show - she's hilarious in every sense of the word. Her growth as a person is really nice to watch.
If I met Tambry irl I think I would inevitably punch her, I cannot lie, she frustrates me too much
Bill Cipher my beloved <3 (you'll see why when he shows up again in season 2)
I have rewatched this show many times since it came out and I firmly believe that so many of the jokes still hold up to this day. It shaped my sense of humour greatly. And the best bit about being older is that now I get all the jokes I didn't get as a kid!!!
My favourite running joke is Guy Who Married A Woodpecker!! He just shows up every now and again and we see a snapshot of his failing marriage and I love him.
The pool guy is objectively and unironically one of the funniest people alive. As is Quentin Trembley, 8½th President of the United States, who also absolutely shaped my personality and humour.
Certain episodes in the later half of Series 2 tone wise feel like they should have been at the start of the series or in Series 1, and the series does suffer for it in my opinion. Of course its a kids show, you don't want it to get too dark, but I feel like some parts of that series just felt inconsistent to the rest of it. Of course the rest of that series is absolutely stellar in my opinion, most of my favourite episodes are in that series, so its swings and roundabouts I suppose.
The Wendy crush is nothing short of frustrating to me every time I see it. Had to reiterate this, and I get that people don't get over crushes quickly, but especially in Series 2 it frustrates me. tbh I probably had a crush on Wendy too as a kid I cannot lie.
The ending is so sweet to me and makes me want to cry or actually cry every time, not just for nostalgia, but because it hits me hard and emotional in so many different ways. No spoilers yet!
And ending it with a really strong opinion here, you should watch Series 2 (a shameless suggestion, I don't regret it)

SEPTEMBER 4 2024 ZENLOG: Guess Who's Back Again?
So as you can see, I haven't been keeping up attendance since the last update. Oops.
I somehow missed the second week already... MAN.
But I'm thankfully here now and boy oh boy do I have a lot to update you guys on!
That being said, here's the nifty little table of contents! Just look for the color for the section(s) you wanna read and enjoy yourself!
CONTENTS OF THE ZENLOG
PERSONAL UPDATES
PROJECTS
WHAT TO EXPECT
BEFORE I GO
A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! (Wooooooah!)
If you're ready to read, click "keep reading!"
PERSONAL UPDATES
Remember how my throat was hella sore the previous update? I managed to go to a follow-up appointment for the doctor. Upon looking at my throat, sir said absolutely nothing has changed (much to his confusion... and mine).
So, sir has decided to up the intake on my antibiotics. They were WAY more effective than the ones I was on previously, so HALLELUJAH!
Then I got sick two more times post-recovery.
It's actually bonkers. I mean, aside from my wack sleep schedule, for the most part I took care of myself. So what was the problem?
Turns out that the air here where I live now just has a crapton of particles that irritate my asthma.
Oops.
But hey, on another note, I've met my extended family members and all of them are hella cool! In addition to that stuff, I've also been researching on colleges and working on myself outside of projects. After all, if I don't take care of IRL me, how will I take care of my creations?
And brainrotting over Bill Cipher and Stanford Pines content shhhhhh
Tumblr media
(For those curious, the game is Swooning Over Stans! I've heard so many things on Tiktok so I started playing it myself LMAO)
PROJECTS
A slightly detailed list of what I wished to accomplish this week, but if you want brief phrases that sum things up, look for the pink text!
HANASHIMA'S ADVANCED CLASS
I've managed to get 17/15 responses to my anxiety-related questions that I've mentioned the last time! I'd like to thank my Discord friends and everyone who participated in my little survey! The input really means a lot to me! I now have a better understanding of the specific scenario I've been trying to write, and hopefully I won't let everybody down with my attempts at portrayals.
In addition to that, thanks to a friend, I've noticed some blaring issues with some characters and pacing, so an outline is in the works and the same applies with an official character sheet.
This issue made me realize that I do in fact, need outsider opinions regarding more 'technical' aspects of my writing and not just what I wanted to accomplish. That in mind, I now have two consultants on my team (woah, I have a team now!)
[WIP AUDIO PROJECT]
Not much progress has been made with this one, though character designs for 2/3 characters has been finalized.
MISC
I've completed two short comics and am currently working on a third strip.
I've uploaded a few tiktoks that I plan to reupload onto here / post the images I've included in those works.
WHAT TO EXPECT
It'll probably be a while before you even see anything genuinely plot-related for Hanashima's Advanced Class. I have big things planned, and I'm doing the thing where I write the whole entire story first prior to actually committing to uploading (compared to others where they come up with the story as they go).
I've ultimately decided to stay quiet on the psychological horror project that I mentioned the previous time as well. I might post some stuff about it every now and then, but I'll keep my mouth shut on the matter for now. Mostly because it's a horror so the element of surprise and shock is of utmost importance... and thus, no one can know anything about it if I wanna keep that element!
I might work on an official introduction to who I am via Youtube video format - because aside from witnessing my feral behavior and my art stuff, I realized that not most exactly know who I am or what my goals are regarding what I want to do with my art. It'll be a simple video but an introduction nonetheless!
A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! (HUH???)
Starting next week, I'll be posting a series of weekly comics! They'll be similar to ShenComix in terms of content but with my own flair and experiences!
I'm still working on a title for the series but just know that I'll have a lot more content! I'm working on more comics so I don't have to worry about deadlines or anything haha
EDIT: Zen's Zaniness is releasing Thursday next week!
BEFORE I GO...
Apologies for the lack of funny images here compared to last time. And- you know, my absence.
But I'm really excited to be sharing more art with you guys, as I continuously work on more Hanashima's Advanced Class.
Take care and stay zany! <333

What Your TMA OTP Says About You
By a dumb asexual who makes too many sex jokes
Jon/Martin: You project onto/kin at least one of these two fools, but no matter what, you are yearning for a relationship like theirs. You're also probably a theatre kid, at least spiritually.
Elias/Peter: You like the dynamic of Jonmartin, but you think it would be 10x better if Martin bullied Jon back and if they were both GILFs. You also probably have "Big Boy Man" as your ringtone.
Tim/Sasha: You believe that both of these characters deserved better, and you probably love the Archivist Sasha AU more than life itself. Also, Tim gets pegged.
Basira/Daisy: You are a hotbed of drama, which is completely unintentional on your part and you rarely participate in it at will; you just want some quality wlw content, and you will not be stopped from getting it.
Melanie/Georgie: You are completely done with Jon's shit, but you still find him somewhat endearing in his panic induced stupidity. You are also a wlw and want to live in a small apartment with your gf and cats, but only if the apocalypse is happening in the background.
Michael/Gerry: You like Jonmartin, but you also want to crank that shit to 100 and blast MCR in the background while they kiss. You also might kin Nico from PJO, and you are most certainly a scene kid.
Jon/Gerry: You are all about that sadboi content, and I honestly can't tell which of these depressed motherfuckers you kin, but I know you kin at least one of them.
Jon/Martin/Gerry: Same as Jonmartin, but you're dead certain that Gerry would be an amazing addition/middle man for them and that he would've gotten them into a relationship together by the end of season 1.
Gertrude/Agnes: There is literally nothing more heartbreaking yet addictive to you than starcrossed lovers that can never be together because of circumstances outside of their control. You're also gay.
Leitner/Gertrude: You honestly just find it so funny that Jonny Sims' parents voice these characters so that's why you ship them. You either hated or loved when they roasted Jon at the end of S3, there is no in-between.
Jude/Agnes: You are a Jude Perry kinnie/you want to set the world on fire beside the woman of your dreams. Probably a top.
Jon/Tim: You lived for the sassy bits between Tim and Jon in seasons 1-2 and you would give anything for Tim to have kissed Jon to shut him up midway through a rant.
Mike/Simon: You're here to love Mike Crew and fuck some GILFs. Press F to pay respects to our short king.
Jon/Michael: I don't know what's going on with you after S3, but dear God do you wanna fuck monsters, specifically if they look like a Bill Cipher humanization that you can only perceive while doing acid.
Jon/Elias: You are an Eliasfucker and you wear that badge with pride.
Martin/Peter: You are an Eliasfucker and you hide this fact at all costs. Also you probably have a very complicated relationship with your father.
Jon/Basira: You thought Tim was spot on about these two being good together; they're bookworm buddies!
Jon/Georgie: You cannot get enough of absolute off his shits college!Jon and frankly, good for you. You also want Georgie to peg you.
Melanie/Basira: Just a couple of gals being pals, and nothing is sexier than performing life-saving, non-consensual surgery on your GF so she doesn't start killing people... according to you, apparently.
Jonah/Barnabas: You heard Jonah say that he held affection for a character mentioned exactly one time even though he left him to die, and you went fucking feral. Tbh you just wanna get with a Victorian dude.
Jonah/Mordecai: This is just Elias/Peter but with more Victorian outfits and letters that would be considered incredibly scandalous, even for the era. Also it makes Elias/Peter 100x more uncomfortable, but I guess some people are into that???
Jon/Martin/Tim: Why be just friends when you can all be in a gay polyam relationship together and kiss? In other words, every fight between Tim and Jon has gutted you like a fucking fish.
Jon/Martin/Tim/Sasha: Same as before, but you stan the first season of the series so hard that people outside the fandom think it's an office comedy.
Gertrude/Elias: Somehow you came to the conclusion that if Elias got pegged then none of the bullshit in the series would've happened.
Melanie/Helen: You're similar to the Jon/Michael shippers in that you wanna fuck monsters, but more like the kind of monsters that make your eyes bleed and your brain melt when you fully perceive them.
Jon/Helen: You either started shipping this as a joke or to cope with the death of Michael, there is no in-between.
Jon/Nikola: You heard Jon admit that he got daily, fully body lotion massages from Nikola and you lost your fucking mind. Clownfucker.
Breekon/Hope: Breekon's statement made you cry for a hundred thousand years, and you will never be over it. Fuck getting a bunch of divorces like Lonelyeyes, you wanna stay with your soulmate until the end of time!
Nikola/Jane Prentiss: You want more wlw content, but specifically you want them to be cartoonish supervillains who can't stop kissing each other in the middle of trying to murder Jon.
Alright, that's all the one's I'm doing. Please don't send me any hate, these are all just meant to be jokes!

10 Favorite Male Disney villains period
When discussing Disney villains we tend to limit ourselves just to animation .These are my favorite Disney villains period from animation, live action ,movies,TV ,etc
Scar from Lion King (1994)
I love this usurping bastard Evil prince who wishes to kill his brother and nephew to gain the throne . He is a classical villain :Intelligent ,sneaky ,manipulative and power hungry.I know some take umbrage with the facthe is so childish and petty in the second half ,but that is one of the reasons I like him as a villain ,he views power the same way a child would, the same way Simba did at the start of the movie .He desires power but doesnt know ho0w to handle it.He isone of my absolute favorite bad guys
Tumblr media
Long John Silver from Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
Disney has done three versions of the infamous pirate and all are great ,but Tim Curry's take is my all time favorite.Robert Newtons take is defanitive ,and Treasure Planets version is complex ,but this is simply Tim Curry's best performance, bringing the over the top villainy while still selling the father figure role to Jim Hawkins. This performance holds a special place in my heart
Tumblr media
Pete from various Disney projects (1925-Now)
Disney's FIRST villain and of their classic cartoon characters my favorite .Often placed in direct opposition to Mickey and the Gang , either as a nefarious criminal , a figure of authority or even just a mean neighbor ,he is both very intimidating while also being a good comic foil .Also I gotta praise both Jim Cummings and Billy Bletcher ,as while many actors have voiced Pete those are the two I most associate with the big brute
Tumblr media
Professor Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
Criminal mastermind who delights in his villainy and whose sophisticated facade hides a rage filled feral monster underneath .Being voiced by Vincent Price is just the cherry on top .
Tumblr media
The MCP from Tron (1982)
Evil David Warner AI ,enough said
Tumblr media
Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
A racist judge who destroys half of Paris ,persecutes the Roma ,abuses Quasimodo ,killing Quasimodos mother and vows to kill Esmerelda unless she sleeps with him .....All while claiming to be a man of God .Truly the darkest of Disney's animated villains
Tumblr media
Mr Dark from Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)
Leader of a sinister supernatural carnival ,this guy is one hell of a creepy villain ,and Jonathan Pryce gives one hell of a performance
Tumblr media
Captain Hook from Peter Pan (1953)
This revenge hungry pirate captain is my favorite part of Peter Pan .A mixture of being elegant, blood thirsty and a bit of a bufoon .He is able to be comedic while still being a threat and I like that he can just seemlessly switch from a regal gentleman to a vicious killer
Tumblr media
Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
This guy TERRIFIED me as a kid ,from how uncanny valleyish he was in most of the movie to how deranged he was at the end of the movie ,he feels like he is out of a horror movie .Doom is my favorite Christopher Lloyd performance .And that VOICE still haunts my nightmares
Tumblr media
Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls (2013 -2016)
Of all the male animated show villains ,Cipher is by far my favorite .This little demon is such a great antagonist

Commonplace
So, while I've only read two chapters of "Flat Dreams" and am bingeing "A Different Form A Different Time," I am absolutely head over heels for the collective works/artistry by @doodledrawsthings, @pengychan, and @videogamelover99. The human Bill Cipher au is all around fantastic.
So, while none of these 2 a.m. ramblings of mine should be taken seriously, my tired mind started conjuring up scenarios that I thought could be, but really aren't. I just really appreciate the dynamic between Bill and Nora, y'know? I had the urge to explore. Sorry if I get anything too wrong/unrealistic!!
-
Bill's gloved fingers plucked at the puffy elbow of his sweater, arms wrapped tightly around his rib cage and shoulders hunched, nearly to his ears. Nora was turned to stare, observing how his heels were propped against the gutter and his ankles were crossed, knees close enough to be tucked under his chin if he angled his neck just so. She could usually tell the games he played by his stance; nowadays his finicky posture screamed defense.
His expression, however, sent puzzlement tugging at her weary mind. Pursed lips and glazed over eyes, a ghostly frown dusting the edges of his mouth. She took in the edges of his face, the curve of his jawbone, the wariness touch to his brow, before her eyes drifted to dainty wrists and stretched proportions. To his skin was not the shocking presence of gold; the hair sitting on his head was mussed, like he hadn't bothered learning the use of a comb. He would appear more normalized to human standards minus the blinding yellow that constantly cling to his torso, or if not for the the shadows pressed under tired eyes.
Perhaps, she thought, that's just what he sought to avoid.
Nonetheless, Bill remained stooped on his perch, countenance molded not to a smugness which she usually would have acquainted with him, but something entirely more... whimsical? He seemed not frustrated, nor by any means was he collected. Eventually, she settled on melancholy.
Releasing a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding, Nora leaned back on her palms, facing the starry night sky. Bill didn't twitch, save for a blink, but it was slow and deliberate and wasn't caused by her sudden shift in weight, so she chose to ignore it. She still didn't know how he got that hunk of glass in his eye socket. She assumed it was by his own intentions, an impulsive action to return his short life into some semblance of regularity again, an action that had consequences which he most likely lacked in anticipating.
Nora felt no sympathy for his suffering.
Bill shifted in almost discomfort and Nora, flustered, flickered her gaze back to the moon. Hadn't realized she'd been staring.
They sat side by side like that for several moments, nothing but midnight breeze ruffling at the leaves around them to making a sound.
Just when Nora was starting to feel a little peace settle in her temples did the demon beside her begin to speak.
"Are you... angry." pointedly spoke Bill, his inquiry surfacing flat, nothing like a question at all. Her gaze turned back toward him and his arms were still crossed, resting on top of his bent knees, body shifted away from her but his head turned completely in her direction. Were she more optimistic, she would call the look on his face contemplative. Instead, he more seemed distraught, looking like he wanted to stifle a little inner turmoil; looking like he would take any answer she gave him like a slap to the face.
Exhaling through her nose, she shifted the shoulders of her disguise a little, settling into a nonchalant state of being that draped across her starlit countenance. "I really can't say I know what you mean, Norm." Nora breathed in careless response, an amused tilt to her lips.
He recoiled with enough predictability to satisfy her. A frustrated snarl left his teeth, but her eyes didn't bother to drift toward him again. She merely waited for the inevitable, patient in elegant poise.
"OH," the demon started languidly, his spindly frame turning completely toward her, knees knocking, brows knitted over his eyes. "You KNOW what I MEAN." There was a betrayed shakiness to his uneven tone that made her triumph pause. He, much to her surprise, elaborated. "Do-- are you-- do you ever just, just get angry? ARE YOU ANGRY?"
At this point she really was at a loss to what he was getting at, made that evident on her face. She turned to him as he to her, soaked up the exasperation that radiated from him and in the ways that his hands amplified his words, one cradling the side of his head, the pad of his forefinger pressed under his eye. She realized with sudden perceptiveness that he was grasping at straws. Bill craves reaction.
Pressing her lips into a thin line, she replied a curt, soft "Yes." and breathed the truth, a tiny crack in her resolve, the centuries of abhorrence that she thought would never shake.
And for some odd reason, that seemed to calm him.
Hackles lowering, his expression morphs into hasty retreat, eyelids lowering back to their exhausted half-mast, his frame curling back in on itself. Bill's body turns toward the forest ahead of them, and he plops his chin on one of his arms. Silence swallowed them in unrelentingly thickness.
Nora studied him through the corner of her eye, watched as a half-hearted smirk (smile?) tugged at one side of his mouth. Suspicion pricked her like a thorn. "Then we've reached common ground." he chimed with inane smugness, as if he were trying to get on her nerves, yet realized the fruitlessness of his attempts before they even occurred.
Quickly, she befriended silence. Bill's chin dipped until his mouth was hidden by his arms and knees, staring sullen at the expanse before them. Lounging atop the little cabin with the worn Mystery Shack sign behind them, peering at the domestic sights of the little blue planet Bill was rooted to, was almost nice, in a way. It was so small compared to everything else, to everything on her mind; it almost made her forget the strangeness of her actions. Her upside-down way of consoling the very being that once caused the anguish which she sought to end. The pines and moon and stars and charming hospitality of Bill's terminal hell soothed her spinning mind, her guilty conscious.
Unexpectedly, Bill's voice fluttered up to her again, but this time it was hushed, husky with a sorrow that didn't quite belong (or that she wasn't used to), masked by forced blandness.
"Do you hate?" he mumbled, creases and folds of sad thoughtfulness around his eyes. Nora was stunned into quiet, shoulders tense. The silent "me" tacked on to the end of his sentence was supplied in her head, but the more the gears of comprehension spun within her, the more defiantly curious he sounded. Her brain whirred with the past.
After a long and tedious pause, Nora's simple tone provided answer. "No."
And that was that. Lapsing back into a hushed state, the atmosphere on her shoulders lifted considerably, the tenseness between them soothed. Remedied by a more gentle truth, perhaps.
However, perplexed by his lack of retort, she turned to shamelessly peer at Bill. His eyes were once again glazed over, and in that moment he very much resembled a kicked puppy. She could practically feel the understanding welling in her pores in that moment, though true sympathy still lovingly evaded her, and it was Nora's turn to have a proud smugness tainting her lips.
"Common ground." she hummed, shifting her weight into a more comfortable position, eyes flickering toward the graying sky. Bill snapped his head toward her, eyes lit aflame with breif energy. His jaw squared, his mouth contorting into a screwed up line that held back some sort of defensive snap; he couldn't bring himself to disagree. Instead, looking less like a feral animal, he narrowed his eyes at the smile lighting up her face and chewed on the inside of his cheek.
He turned back toward the expanse in begrudging surrender, and side by side they observed as the sun peeked upward from the horizon, sitting mutually amongst their commonplace.
